sorry im gonna be a little bit insufferable for a second because thats not what heat death actually means...... the name "heat death" does make it sound like "a death caused by heat", but its really more like "the death of all heat" - as in, theres no more energy left in the universe to cause temperature or pressure changes. thermodynamic equilibrium. (its also called "the big chill", which is probably a less confusing name but lets be honest. heat death just sounds way cooler.) to put it simply, all the matter in the universe would be too far apart to interact with each other at all. no stars or planets or even atoms - just particles flying around in an expanding universe until the probability of them ever bumping into each other reaches 0.

so like. in actuality, the death of all life in the universe would come long before that, and with it, the death of the very concept of "dirt". this is just another case of humans making up problems for themselves unfortunately.

but you know, every time you transfer dirt from one location to another, like dirtying a dishcloth to wash a dish, you expend a little more energy than was strictly needed to perform the task, which is released as heat into the air and increases the entropy of the universe just a tiny bit. we march ever closer to the heat death of the universe one dirty dishcloth at a time 👍

has anyone noticed that to clean smth u often have to get smth else dirty
