Hope you don't mind the question but what do you suppose a mirror version of Daroach would be like? And what of his relationship with Dark Meta Knight.

It would be quite humorous to imagine his reaction to seeing Dark Meta Knight dating his counterpart

Ooh, I’ve actually been thinking about this for a hot minute, mostly for Kintsugi AU stuff. See, the way I write the Mirror World - as a deeply-imperfect reflection of Popstar and its surrounding universe - events in one dimension don’t always play out exactly the same in the other. Sometimes, they don’t play out at all due to timeline divergences. In the KAU specifically, both Squeak Squad and Mass Attack (as well as a few others games in the series) fall into the latter category, meaning we sadly won’t be seeing Mirror Daroach and his crew committing crimes and stealing treasure chests among the Mirror populous (nor will he get to hear all the juicy gossip about his counterpart and a certain scarred knight).

Not to say they aren’t still out there, though, causing trouble elsewhere in the cosmos.

I imagine the Mirror Squeak Squad still live that criminal life, but - rather than a motley crew of “honorable” thieves - they operate more like an interstellar mafia, with M!Daroach as the Don, M!Spinni, M!Storo, and M!Doc as his consiglieres, and the M!Squeakers as the low-level grunts. Unlike their Popstar counterparts, there is not an ounce of honor in their creed. They take what they want whenever they want with no qualms about morality or fairness, seeking power and control alongside endless riches.

M!Daroach himself has much of the same cool and charismatic demeanor as his counterpart, but a bleaker upbringing seems to have left him colder, crueler, not above using intimidation or even causing harm in pursuit of his goals. Socially, he is well-spoken, charming, and very persuasive. He has his vices and indulges in them liberally, but he keeps his connections strictly business, with the closest ones held at arm’s length, ready to sever at a moment’s notice. He is deeply protective of those he brings into his “family” … so long as they remain loyal to him. Though he keeps his claws clean, he's not afraid to demonstrate just how sharp they are.

In the unlikely event that he did encounter Dark Meta Knight, I imagine he’d view him… neutrally, a right-hand blade to a man in power (not unlike his own boys), with the potential to be either an enemy or an ally. Seeing the knight in battle might have him considering the latter, intrigued by a show of ruthless yet well-directed strength, wondering if there is worth in swaying his loyalty. That said, it would only take a single interaction with Shadow Dedede to dissuade him. He’s toppled many a rival organization in his day, but he’s also smart enough to know when not to make an enemy of someone (especially when they wield power like a starsdamn sledgehammer).

In the even more unlikely event that he learns of Dark��s… situationship with his counterpart… well, first off, he’d have a lot of questions. He'd be way more fascinated by the idea of having a counterpart - something most Mirror denizens of the modern day aren't normally aware of - rather than what he does in his spare time (though he would find it amusing that Daroach's tastes are just as abysmal as his own). Beyond that, though, it's doubtful that he'd get involved any further, the notion of mirror clones and alternate dimensions being a little outside his wheelhouse. He'd much rather be off smuggling goods off-world or threatening small-business owners who can't make their loan payments.

The cave was finally quiet. Reirei breathed a sigh of relief, relishing in the silence.

Goigoi was sleeping, as per usual, but Reirei was certain it was for good reason. He'd been cub-sitting all day while she took a break. Reirei smiled, for once, genuinely. A sweet smile, one that was reserved for her closest family and friends. She didn't even mean to smile, just looking at her mate's peaceful face was enough to bring her a little joy.

The jackal padded over to her mate and settled by his side. He woke almost immediately, yawning wide and blinking the sleep out of his eyes with that signature smile on his face.

“Oh hey, honey paws! Is it time to get up?”

Reirei laughed quietly. “No, no. It's barely sunset yet.”

“Well then uh, why you beside me?” Goigoi asked with curiosity.

“Because I appreciate you.” She brushed her face against her mate's soft fur. Goigoi's tail began to wag as he returned the gesture, the two of them nuzzling happily. “You're an angel.” Reirei smiled as she gazed at him.

“This is going to make me gag.”

Reirei nearly jumped out of her skin as the familiar voice cut through the quiet air. Pricking her ears, she looked up to see Shupavu clinging to one of the cave walls.

“Shupavu! What in the Outlands are you doing spying on us?!” She demanded, tail bristling. How dare her peace and quiet with her mate be interrupted!

“Checking up on everyone. You know, my job? Oh, and learning new names you call your mate, apparently. That'll definitely be in the report for Jasiri.” The red skink smirked.

“You sneaky b—”

“See you around Reirei, Goigoi. Or should I say ‘angel’?” Shupavu snickered, before scittering away into a crack.

“See ya! And only Reirei calls me that!” Goigoi called after her. He chuckled lightly and Reirei's anger diffused instantly. Rolling her eyes and sighing away her annoyance, she returned to nuzzling him. Her mate always made her feel better.

Tbh I honestly can’t remember when we talked about an Outlander road trip but I DO have ideas!

I’m guessing it all depends on which Outlanders are going. It’s chaotic every way tho fjfhfh

The destination: The Tree of Life

Jasiri would obviously be the one driving while Reirei rides shotgun

Janja, Kiburi, and Mzingo are riding in the back….that’s gonna be fun. Janja DEFINITELY isn’t gonna annoy the fuck out of everyone hfhfhf

Shupavu and Njano are there too cuz they don’t take up much space (if it’s the Zootopia AU, if it’s a human au then they have the third row to themselves)

Kenge drives the skinks and Sumu on their road trip. It’s fine until some asshole cuts him off and he gets road rage

Kiburi’s mostly keeping himself busy by looking out the window or listening to rap music

When the car runs low on gas, everyone plays rock, paper, scissors to determine who gets to fill the car up (nobody wants to do it). Reirei loses and she has to witness the boys either being smug (Mzingo) or laughing and flipping her off (Janja and Kiburi)

Janja’s fun doesn’t last long since Jasiri tells him to buy everyone snacks. It’s mostly candy and beef jerky for Kiburi. Shupavu and Njano only get one measly pack of gum and nothing else

At some point, the skinks take an interesting picture of Janja sleeping on Kiburi’s lap like a pillow

For a croc road trip, Tamka and Neema are the one in a weird position. You could mistake them for a sleeping couple hfgfvfgf

Nduli and Cheezi are in their own world while everyone else is arguing. They’re just happy to be here

At the most inconvenient time, Njano has to pee. Same goes for Chungu, Goigoi, and Tamka 😭

Mzingo’s phone has the GPS plus he knows a couple shortcuts here and there so he’s very useful

Unfortunately they forget him at a gas station and it takes them like an hour to realize it. Dw they go back for him

On a hyena road trip, Janja “accidentally” forgets Nne and Tano at the gas station. With the crocs, they almost forget Neema. Jackals? It’s poor Goigoi. The skinks THINK they forgot either Nyeusi or Sumu but it turns out they just moved to the trunk lol

Lots of arguing happening no matter which Outlanders are on the trip

When everything’s quiet, Janja turns around out of curiosity and catches Shupavu and Njano making out (nothing NSFW just kissing)

Jasiri’s eyes start to droop a bit but is woken up by death metal on max volume (thanks, Janja lmao. Reirei was just gonna yell but that works too)

If it’s just Janja, Reirei, and Kiburi on the trip, then it’s like this

Constant fighting over music. Jasiri plays pop music, but Janja changes it to a rock and roll station, which is changed to country by Reirei, then classical/opera(?) by Mzingo, then rap/hip hop by Kiburi. In the end they all jam to “What is Love” along with the head bopping thing lmaoooo

Thank god the trip is a win and everyone has a good time!….until the ride home where everyone starts arguing again

Magolor: of course I do! The Squeaks are apart of Smash Ride so I see them quite often. Daroach on the other hand? Not so much, the only time I see him is when he’s on break with The Squeaks
