Sping Equinox roundel card Alban Eilir by AwenCreative
Alban Eilir
The name of the vernal equinox festival in Druidism is Alban Eilir, which means "The Light of the Earth". As the Sun gets hotter, life begins to manifest through the ground. the first small signs – daffodils and crocuses – then more green like bluebells and wood anemones spread through the woodlands. Some see plants as inanimate greenery with no real feelings or life force. But Druids see life in all living things, from rocks and pebbles, to rivers and springs, to plants and trees – all life is sacred.

Have you ever thought about how you recognized the beginning of spring? Is it plant life? Weather ? How does a plant know when it's time to grow? She can't tell the time or see a calendar. Yet she knows. If it has senses, then it has consciousness. If she's conscious, she's more than an inanimate life form. It is therefore the return of life to Earth that is celebrated at Alban Eilir, the time of balance.

One of the inner mysteries of druidism is the druid's egg. The egg that gives life, the egg protected by the hare, symbol of Alban Eilir – always celebrated with the gift of Easter eggs by the Easter bunny.
Winter sometimes seems so long that we might wonder if spring will ever return. But the Goddess of Spring only sleeps in the darkness of winter, and while she stirs at Imbolc, she is truly awakened at the time of the spring equinox.
The forces of light are also balanced at this time with the forces of darkness, but the light intensifies – and will peak at the summer solstice three months later.
Photographer unknow but lucky
The plant symbolic of the equinox in Druidism is the shamrock, usually worn on March 17, Saint Patrick's Day – almost at the time of the spring equinox. The usual explanation for the use of the shamrock is that St Patrick, once used its three-leaf shape to illustrate the doctrine of the Trinity but in fact the shamrock is probably the national emblem of Ireland due to its associations druids, and it is seen by some authorities as a survival of the trignetra, a Christianized wheel or a sun symbol.
Celtic trinity knot - Irish triquetra - Evidently taken up by Christians
The three green leaves of spring in the druidic ceremony and the Irish buttonhole on Saint Patrick's Day bring us back, not only to the sun god and the doctrine of the Trinity (which some say originated from druidism),
In Druidism, spring is considered so important that three festivals are dedicated to this season: Imbolc, which marks the first tremors of spring, Alban Eilir marks its most obvious beginning, and Beltaine, the time of its fullness, before ending. develop into different quality in the summer.
Wheel of the year and meaning of each season.
The following quote from Nuinn expands on this theme: Spring with the druidic movement is at least a triple celebration. We could even relate it to the winter solstice, with the rebirth of light. However, starting with Imbolc as the first of a trio, we have the first plow, the cleansing of the face of the earth and the eight lights because this is clearly a circumstance of the Mother Goddess. Thus, we have the use of earth, water and light. The second feast is the vernal equinox, Alban Eilir. Again here in the open, if we celebrate on Parliament Hill, we use the stone of freedom of speech (earth), the first fire of spring (the censer) and the sword of the spirit or ether: and transformed water (wine) given by the Lady of Spring, as well as "atom-seeds" for growth. "Alban Eilir","

Skater
Watanabe Haruto x reader
Genre: fluff, comedy, skater Haruto!
Warning(s): none really
Summary: Your boyfriend is trying to teach you how to use his long-board
A/N: I’m writing a short fic for once, as I didn’t think of too many plot details for this. I just had the idea for this as I was going to bed and now I am obsessed with the idea of a skater Haruto bf so I hope you enjoy!
“Ruto, I can’t!” You complained, holding onto you boyfriend’s shoulders for support; Your legs wobbled as you tried to stay balanced on his long-board, not being able to let go of Haruto.
It was a beautiful sping day and Haruto thought it would be a nice day for the two of you to go to the park near his house. In the shade from the trees, you had both had a picnic date and you read to him while he had his head in your lap. It was a nice, relaxing time until the giant baby started feeling energetic and wanted to teach you how to long-board, as it as something he enjoyed. Starting on the path through the grassy field, Haruto had been trying to help you for twenty minutes now, but you were barely able to stay on the board.
“You’re doing fine!” Haruto chuckled, holding onto your arms and leading you down the path. You wiggled at the hips, trying to stay centered as you moved one the board; this however made you even more unbalanced and you would have fallen on your face if Haruto wasn’t there supporting you. You leaned into him and got off the board, huffing in frustration.
“I’m too bad at it!” You sighed, letting go of Haruto, “I can barely stand on it while it’s moving; My balance is waaaaayyyyy off...” Haruto smiled at you and patted your head sympathetically.
“Just try one more time.” He coaxed, holding onto your hand, “I know you can do it!”
“Fine,” You agreed with a grin, “But only because you’re my favorite.”
“It would be a bit disappointing if I wasn’t your favorite.”
“Quiet, I have to concentrate.”
“Okay, shutting up now.”
You giggled at your boyfriend and stepped back onto the board. You felt like you could stand by yourself at this point. So you didn’t grab onto Haruto immediately. He beamed at your progress before putting his hands on you waist, standing behind the long-board.
“I’m going to push you now, slowly.” He explained, before shuffling forward until the wheels began to move, “If you loose balance, just lean back on me and I’ll catch you.”
You nodded, feeling a bit anxious. As you moved slowly down the path, you felt a bit off balance, but overall stayed up. You put your arms out like an airplane and it seemed to help you wobble around less. Haruto began to speed up, walking at a normal pace now.
“Doing okay (Y/N)?” Haruto asked from behind you.
“Doing fine Ruto,” You replied, leaning a bit to the right before centering out again, “I think I’m getting better.”
“I’m going to go a bit faster now okay?” Haruto confirmed, pushing the small of your back with the heels of his palm and speeding up his walking pace. With his support, you didn’t feel scared or unbalanced; even though you were going faster than you ever have before, you knew Haruto was there to catch you if you fell.
Until you turned your head and he wasn’t there. He stood a couple feet back, encouraging you with a proud smile and a thumbs up. You panicked for a moment before chuckling at your boyfriend, who had probably planned this part the whole time.
“You’re doing great!” He cheered, “But focus ahead of you!”
“I’m doing it Ruto!” You exclaimed, turning to look ahead at the path. Feeling the speed of travel and the wind blowing in your face gave you a rush of adrenaline, “I’m a skater now!”
“Yeah, that’s my baby!”
This was all fine and well until you saw the path turned up ahead.
“Ruto, how do I turn?!” You asked urgently, speeding up to the curve due to a decline in the path.
Haruto followed after you, trying to keep up with you before responding, “You have to-”
“I don’t know how to turn! I’m going to crash!”
As if it was a spell, just as the words left your lips you rolled straight through the curve and Haruto’s long-board caught on the edge of the grass. You fell forward, landing in the soft grass. Moments later Haruto was over you, kneeling by your face.
“Are you okay?” He asked, worry evident in his tone. You looked up at him with a blank stare.
“Fine.” You responded and blinked a couple times, “I at least landed in grass.”
“I’m sorry I let you go,” Haruto apologized, “I thought you could do it on your own.”
“I did do it on my own Ruto. Didn’t you see how far I went without you holding me?”
“You’re not... mad at me for letting go of you?”
“I’m a skater, and it’s not really a skaters nature to be mad.”
You finally smirked at your boyfriend, who looked relieved to say the least.
“I’m very proud of you.” He confessed, holding out his hand to help you up. You took it and pulled him to the ground jokingly. Taken by surprise, he laid beside you and laughed at your antics, glad to see you weren’t hurt.
“next time I won’t fall off.” You said with determination, turning your head to face him.
“Next time?” He asked, lopsided grin appearing on his face.
“Well, I have to learn how to turn!” You explained in a teasing tone, trying to be serious for the bit, but cracking a smile anyways. Haruto let out a small chuckle before sighing sweetly.
“I love you,” He said softly, placing a quick peck on your lips.
“I love you too.” You replied and grabbed onto his hand before getting up, “Now, lets go again so I can practice turning!”
You picked up his board and scurried back up the path. As he watched you leave, Haruto could swear his heart burst because he knew at that moment you were everything to him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Weird way to end the story, but I think everything else is pretty good. I finished this in one sitting (not surprising it’s short), but I probably won’t post this until way later due to scheduling stuff. Anyways, please give love to Watanabe Haruto and have a wonderful day/night. If you liked this, you can always give it some love and follow me for more content :)
Storia Di Musica #162 - Steely Dan, Aja, 1977
Il tema delle Storie di Musica di marzo me l’hanno dato i Daft Punk (che si sono sciolti dopo quasi trent’anni). Quindi per queste domeniche marzoline storie di duo musicali. Il primo di cui scriverò oggi nasce a fine anni ’60, quando due ragazzi innamorati del Jazz, Walter Becker e Donald Fagen si incontrano al Bard College, a nord di New York. Tra i primi a unirsi agli esperimenti musicali dei due c’è Chevy Chase, poi futuro grande comico. Dopo qualche serata nei locali, vanno in tour con il gruppo di Jay & The Americans, che erano prodotti da Gary Katz, fondatore dell’etichetta ABC Records. Katz è affascinato dai due, dalle idee che hanno in mente, e li spinge a formare un gruppo per dar sviluppo alle loro composizioni. Fagen e Becker come nome scelgono quello del “rivoluzionario” dildo a vapore che William Burroughs descrive ne Il Pasto Nudo: Steely Dan. Inizia qui la storia di una delle più geniali e eccezionali coppie della musica degli anni ’70, immeritatamente oggi poco conosciuti, ma capaci di cose mirabolanti. Il debutto è già fenomenale: Can’t Buy A Thrill esce nel 1972, con in formazione Jim Holder (batteria), Jeff Baxter (chitarra) e David Palmer, con Becker e Fagen a suonare basso, chitarre, sintetizzatori, con Fagen anche cantante. Il disco ha subito due canzoni hit come Do It Again e Reeling in The Years. Inizia da qui una pubblicazione di un disco all’anno: con la stessa formazione nel 1973 esce Countdown To Ecstasy, nel 1974 Pretzel Logic, che contiene la straordinaria Rikki Don’t Lose That Number (dedicata a Horace Silver, l’immenso pianista jazz, che arriva in top five). Qui accade una cosa particolare: Fagen inizia ad avere fobia delle esibizioni dal vivo e il 1974 è in pratica l’ultimo anno in cui suoneranno in concerto, con il duo che apre la sigla Steely Dan ad un mondo variegato e favoloso di musicisti e sessionisti, il meglio che c’è sulla piazza. Katy Lied (1975) ne delinea lo stile, già unico e riconoscibile, che mixa con una magia speciale (e probabilmente inarrivabile) jazz, rock, blues, pop ad una perfezione esecutiva che diventerà proverbiale, il tutto accompagnato da testi criptici, ironici, colti che diventeranno iconici al pari della musica. Dopo The Royal Scam (1976) firmano con la Warner Bros. come compositori, ma continuavo a essere fedeli come Steely Dan alla ABC di Katz. Con cui nel 1976 progettano un disco che ha un unico obiettivo: la perfezione del suono. Ingaggiano quindi il meglio dei sessionisti, un dream team in cui si ricordano tra gli altri Victor Feldman (Fender Rhodes e vibrafono), Michael Omartian (al piano, poi produttore di Christopher Cross, vincitore di 3 Grammy) Larry Carlton e Steve Khan (alla chitarra), Rick Marotta e Steve Gadd (due giganti della batteria) Pete Christlieb e Tom Scott (sassofono del Tonight Show il primo, colui che curerà gli arrangiamenti de fiati nel disco il secondo) e proprio per non farsi mancare niente, Wayne Shorter in un assolo leggendario di un brano e una sezione cori da far invidia: Michael McDonald (futuro The Doobie Brothers), Timothy B. Schmit (che proprio quell’anno si unirà agli Eagles, con cui canterà la mitica I Can’t Tell You Why) e il meglio tra coristi femminili e maschili, in tutto una quarantina di musicisti campioni. Che verranno osservati e scelti in base alle loro caratteristiche per ogni brano in ben 4 studi di registrazione, sotto le cure maniacali non solo di Fagen&Becker, ma di Gary Katz e da una squadra di ingegneri del suono da sogno, tra i più grandi di sempre: Roger Nichols, Elliot Scheiner, Al Schmitt, Bill Schnee, con alla masterizzazione un altro colosso, Bernie Grundman (che messi insieme fanno una valigia di Grammy Awards vinti ad oggi per l’ingegneria sonora). Le leggende sulle sessioni di registrazioni su Aja, questo il titolo che verrà scelto dagli Steely Dan, pubblicato nel settembre 1977 (si pronuncia in inglese come Asia e si dice fosse un omaggio alla bellissima moglie coreana di un amico di Fagen) diventeranno proverbiali: ore di ricerca della rullata perfetta, serie di assoli ripetuti alla ricerca della take giusta, in un clima che però non divenne mai isterico, quanto piuttosto figlio della idea comune di scrivere la perfezione. E con la perfezione si parte dalla copertina, tra le più belle di sempre: uno scatto del fotografo giapponese Hideki Fujii che ritrae la modella e attrice giapponese Sayoko Yamaguchi. I 7 brani del disco sono 7 perle che spiegano al meglio il suono Steely Dan: Black Cow (dal nome di un cocktail) è magnetica e perfetta, con gli intrecci meravigliosi tra sassofoni, piano elettrico, i cori; Aja è ancora oltre, 8 minuti di sensazioni che delicatamente viaggiano per l’oriente, con la batteria di Gadd a troneggiare, prima dell’assolo leggendario di Wayne Shorter (che fu provato più volte per trovare le sonorità volute da quei due pazzi), con gli intrecci del doppio piano, voicing jazzisti, tre chitarre elettriche. La terza traccia è probabilmente la loro canzone simbolo: Deacon Blues è la storia di un “perdente”, che però non ha ancora perso la voglia di mettersi in gioco; il leggendario ritornello infatti dice “Learn to work the saxophone\I play just what I feel\Drink Scotch whiskey all night long\And die behind the wheel\They got a name for the winners in the world\I want a name when I lose\They call Alabama the Crimson Tide\Call me Deacon Blues”, dove il Crimson Tide (la marea cremisi) è un riferimento colto ad una squadra di Football dell’Università dell’Alabama che non perse una partita per anni di seguito (da quel momento sinonimo di vincente), mentre il verso di apertura (This is the day of the expanding man) è un riferimento ad un libro di fantascienza molto famoso, L'Uomo Disintegrato di Alfred Bester. E poi Peg, canzone su una sessione fotografica (geniale, nel testo dice “This is your big debut\It's like a dream come true\So won't you smile for the camera?\I know they're gonna love it) il cui assolo fu provato e suonato da 6-7 chitarristi prima di scegliere quello giusto (di Jay Gradon) dalle fenomenali armonie vocali di McDonald, che diventerà una hit (saccheggiata nei campionamenti negli anni futuri persino dai De-La Soul in Eye Know), le delizie di Home At Last e I Got The News. E che dire del funky rock di Josie, dal mitico riff suonato da Becker, che racconta di una bellissima ragazza, dal passato torbido, che torna nel quartiere, con successivo scombussolamento dei vari pretendenti. Definire la loro musica significa immaginare una linea che unisce soul, jazz, rock, pop in un modo magico, in questo disco ogni assolo, ogni intervento, ogni ascolto regala un particolare che prima era sfuggito e che sembra invece perfetto. Tutta questa perfezione non passò certo inosservata: il disco vinse a mani basse il Grammy come Miglior Ingegneria Sonora nel 1978, e a distanza di decenni ancora oggi è considerato dai maniaci della audiofilia il disco per provare la bontà di ogni impianto hi-fi. Venderà milioni di copie (uno dei primi dischi ad ottenere la certificazione di Platino per un milione di copie vendute negli USA) spargendo nel mondo la voce che “niente suona bene come un disco degli Steely Dan” (dal titolo di un articolo di Downbeat, la rivista bibbia del jazz americano). Due ultime curiosità: Deacon Blues fu una freccia che arriverà fino in Scozia, a Glasgow, dove colpì al cuore Rick Ross che chiamerà così il suo gruppo (i Deacon Blue, che debuttano con un grande disco nel 1987, Raintown) e in un film di poco tempo fa, Sing Street (pellicola deliziosa del 2016), che racconta la storia di un giovane dublinese che agli inizi degli anni ’80 crea un gruppo musicale per sfuggire al bullismo e per impressionare una ragazza, c’è questa clamorosa battuta: In un gruppo non conta saper suonare. Chi vi credete di essere, gli Steely Dan?
This is actually really interesting to me, because there’s an interesting amount of climate and history in these names.
Spring: Refers to both Springs (or at least, places where water appears to come out of the ground) and Creeks, brooks and rivers that are seasonal, typically appearing during the Sping Snow Melt. There’s a lot of these in the western states and part of the reason you will sometimes find flood warning signs in the middle of a perfectly dry hiking trail or field.
Dry: At least west of the Missouri river “Dry Creek” typically refers to a subterranean river, which can be found by the depressions and verdant foliage they leave on the surface. Oklahoma’s “Rock” waterways probably rerfer to the same phenomena. Interestingly, many of the “Springs” in western states are subterranean rivers surfacing due to geologic conditions.
Willow/Cottonwood/Laurel/Birch: These are all trees that like to live on surface or subterranean waterways. If you get lost in the desert and can see trees, there’s water! but you might have to dig for it.
Mill: A flowing body of water is a great place to harvest energy, usually by the use of wheels. Mills might include: grain mills, paper mills, mining mills, and lumber mills, and very recently, electricty!
Meadow/Hay: Slow waterways gradually fillin with the durt they carry from upstream and create lovely meadows, which are also great places for farming.
Bear: Washington and Alaska are both states with waterways that regularly have Salmon in them, and therefore, frequently have Bears too.
Kawainui: It’s litrally Hawaiian for “Large flow/area of fresh water”. this is kind of like how the romans kept naming all the rivers “Avon”, the celtic word for river, becuase when they pointed at the river and asked the celts what it was called, the celts told them “That’s a river. Dumbass.”
Beaverdam: One of the first things while people colonized north america for was Beaver pelts and pigments. used to be hordes of them on the east coast.
Lick: ...I have a lot of questions about Kentucky and this just raises more.
Most common water watercourse name for each state based on the Geographic Names Information System.
Sping Equinox roundel card Alban Eilir by AwenCreative
Alban Eilir
Le nom de la fête de l’équinoxe de printemps dans le druidisme est Alban Eilir, ce qui signifie « La lumière de la Terre ». Alors que le Soleil devient plus chaud, la vie commence à se manifester à travers le sol. les premiers petits signes – les jonquilles et les crocus – puis plus de vert comme les jacinthes des bois et les anémones des bois se répandent au sein des régions boisées. Certains considèrent les plantes comme de la verdure inanimée, sans sentiments réels ni force de vie. Mais les druides voient la vie dans tous les êtres vivants, des rochers aux cailloux, en passant par les rivières et les sources, les plantes et les arbres – toute vie est sacrée.
Photographers Unknow
Photo by Perl Photography on Flickr
Avez-vous déjà réfléchi à la façon dont vous avez reconnu le début du printemps ? Est-ce la vie végétale ? La météo ? Comment une plante sait-elle quand il est temps de pousser ? Elle ne peut pas lire l’heure ou voir un calendrier. Pourtant, elle sait. Si elle a des sens, alors elle a conscience. Si elle a conscience, c’est plus qu’une forme de vie inanimée. C’est donc le retour de la vie sur Terre qui est célébré à Alban Eilir, le temps de l’équilibre.
Fossilized sea urchin representing the cosmic egg of the Druids
Fantasy art epilogue.net
L’un des mystères intérieurs du druidisme est l’œuf du druide. L’œuf qui donne la vie, l’œuf protégé par le lièvre, symbole d’Alban Eilir – toujours célébré par le don des œufs de Pâques par le lapin de Pâques.
L’hiver semble parfois si long, que nous pourrions nous demander si le printemps reviendra un jour. Mais la déesse du printemps ne fait que dormir dans l’obscurité de l’hiver et, pendant qu’elle s’agite à Imbolc, elle est véritablement réveillée au moment de l’équinoxe du printemps.
Les forces de la lumière sont également équilibrées à ce moment avec les forces de l’obscurité, mais la lumière s’intensifie – et atteindra son apogée au solstice d’été trois mois plus tard.
Photographer unknow but lucky
La plante symbolique de l’équinoxe dans le druidisme est le trèfle, habituellement porté le 17 mars, jour de la Saint Patrick – presque au moment de l’équinoxe de printemps. L’explication habituelle de l’utilisation du trèfle est que St Patrick, utilisait autrefois sa forme à trois feuilles pour illustrer la doctrine de la Trinité mais en fait, le trèfle est probablement l’emblème national de l’Irlande en raison de ses associations druidiques antérieures, et il est vu par certaines autorités comme une survivance du triquetra, une roue christianisée ou un symbole solaire.
Celtic trinity knot - triquetra - evidently taken up by Christians
Les trois feuilles vertes du printemps lors de la cérémonie druidique et de la boutonnière irlandaise du jour de la Saint Patrick nous ramènent, non seulement au dieu soleil et à la doctrine de la Trinité (qui, selon certains, sont issus du druidisme), mais à l’enseignement de l’Awen et au concept de la Triple Déesse. Artemis, la déesse de la Triple Lune des Grecs, nourrissait ses biches au trèfle.
Dans le druidisme, le printemps est considéré comme si important que trois fêtes sont dédiées à cette saison : Imbolc, qui marque les premiers frémissements du printemps, Alban Eilir marque son plus évident début, et Beltaine, le temps de sa plénitude, avant de se développer en qualité différente de l’été.
Wheel of the year and meaning of each season.
La citation suivante de Nuinn développe ce thème : « Le printemps avec le mouvement druidique est au moins une triple célébration. On pourrait même le rapporter au solstice d’hiver, avec la renaissance de la lumière. Cependant, en commençant par Imbolc en tant que première d’un trio, nous avons la première charrue, le nettoyage de la surface de la terre et des huit lumières parce que c’est clairement une circonstance de la déesse Mère. Ainsi, nous avons l’utilisation de la terre, de l’eau et de la lumière. La deuxième fête est l’équinoxe de printemps, Alban Eilir. De nouveau ici en plein air, si nous célébrons sur la colline du Parlement, nous utilisons la pierre de la liberté de parole (terre), le premier feu du printemps (l’encensoir) et l’épée de l’esprit ou éther : et de l’eau transformée ( vin) donné par la dame de printemps, ainsi que des « atom-seeds » pour la croissance. » Alban Eilir « , au point d’équilibre entre Imbolc et Beltaine, est également au point d’équilibre entre le jour et la nuit, et c’est le moment idéal pour s’ouvrir à la qualité de l’équilibre dans nos propres vies.«
The Saberforge Acolyte lightsaber is a custom saber with an aggressive, Old Republic style vibe. The one that I have is a Warrior Tier Saber, meaning it’s a stunt saber (lights up, no sound), and features a white LED. Saberforge Acolyte comes in one of three main finishes: Standard Finish (the one shown in this reviewtwo-toned black and silver), Weathered (tarnished silver appearance), or Black (a tactical, all-black finish). As an Apprentice Saber, Acolyte is comprised primarily of a main body and a removable pommel.
Saberforge Acolyte, a standard sized lightsaber, measures 11.8 inches long and accepts a 1 inch diameter blade. The aluminum hilt is comprised primarily of a main body and a vented pommel. Acolyte’s slanted emitter creates a familiar lightsaber profile. An aggressive, u-shaped cutout bisects the middle of the emitter. The cutout is flanked on either side by two long, gill like window slits that run parallel to the angle of the emitter. A choke point is situated below a series of horizontal grooves. The choke point increases the control and maneuverability of the lightsaber, making the lightsaber easier to sping and use in dueling.
A recessed activation switch is located below the choke point. There’s also a dummy switch below the activation switch (on some versions of the hilt a recharge port is installed in the dummy switch location). The lower grip section of the hilt is comprised of many milled details, including two thin, stadium-shaped indentations that echo the window slits in the emitter. A Covertec wheel attaches to the lower part of the hilt. The lowest part of the hilt is angled, echoing the aesthetics of the emitter. A notched knob style pommel caps off the end of the hilt. The pommel, which is vented, somewhat resembles the pommel on a Revan style lightsaber.
