candlepunk, for those who don't know, is:

"CandlePunk depicts a society, which in this case is one of a medieval nature, riddled with a given amount of futuristic - futuristic in this case meaning post-medieval - technology and ideals."

them in medieval japan with more modern tech, but instead of quirks they have magic. dabi/toya being born with magic that physically destroys his body and wanting to push himself by the set in, oppressive standards by his father to be the best. spinner's magic of him being depicted as a mutant, being outcasted for something he can't control.

dabi's fire magic explodes, almost costing his life. spinner is on the road, finds a stable apartment for awhile, but stays inside due to the oppressive society. spinner is good at mechanics, though. due to the burns dabi inflicted, he's in extensive hospital care under afo for awhile. spinner developed these skills since childhood. dabi steals a pair of crutches so he can walk to see what his family has made of him.

spindabi duo living life as duo villains trying to gain awareness of how society fucked them up in their own ways, and them both bickering and learning from each other. spinner building technology to help with dabi's disabilities and help to use his fire powers, while dabi teaches spinner how to fight more effectively and even some magic of his own. them staying on abandoned buildings, looking over the entirety of japan.

guys hear me out

a yandere spinnerdabi AU where spinner is just god-awful at the whole yandere thing and dabi just matches his freak in the worst way.

this is an AU w/ quirks, spinner is probably unemployed, former hikikomori and an erotica writer. dabi is a university dropout and a tattoo artist (photography and hairstyling are side hustles — he does occasionally burn folks when he gets the urge)

maybe spinner is ass and sloppy with the killing and the stalking and he’s SOOO obvious w/ it that dabi finds out. he’s seen spinner outside of his house on occasions, plus people in his circle mysteriously disappearing with not so mysterious “trinkets” left behind at their unreported murder sites (courtesy of spinner’s stupidity).

because really? who else in the world has pink hair except for the guy that again, loiters outside his home with a cap and a hoodie taking pictures, and also seeming to regular that cafe he regulars too. he lurks around the laundromat and the convenience store he visits. it was actually in the cafe that dabi decided to confront him about it, not fully, just something vague to test the waters. all he did was approach his table and say so much as “haven’t i seen you around” with this slightly irate tone before spinner went bolting.

dabi chases this idiot outside into an alleyway, pins and interrogates him. at first he thinks it’s some sloppy agent for the gov’t (he’s a delusional conspiracist at heart), THEN spinner panics and defends himself with the first thing in his pocket, a knife, sending dabi to the floor with a groan and again, spinner fucking books it.

yeah dabi cauterizes the wound after the initial shock with his quirk and he takes a nice drag of a cigarette before coming to the realization that maybe it’s not that all of that complicated “the gov’t is after me” stuff; maybe the guy’s just a creep with extra (more dangerous) steps. so he just decides he’ll break into his house and try to kill him.

and he did. like 14 different times. that’s when spinner realized he was NOT built for this. and dabi doooes kind of find how terrified and flustered spinner gets when his life is on the line cute… so it becomes less of a i’m gonna kill you cause you’re a creep and i’m itching for a reason, and more of some kind of cat and mouse chase (at least for dabi) with somehow growing sexual tension…?

oh and btw at least one of the times involved dabi burning a hole through spinner’s wall with his fist. like i’m talking this kind of BS — dabi is dramatic w/ it.

QUICK LITTLE SKETCH… got inspo from a song and wanted to doodle them. honestly fellas, these days you’re just gonna get sketches from me!! for neow at least. i’m busy asl…

finally got to drawing these two idiots’ designs in their stupid yandere AU.

there’s not much to talk abt for their act 1 fits (act 1 and act 2 just sound sophisticated and cool so i’m using it).

act 2 dabi’s fit is kinda supposed to resemble his plf fit. the only key feature of act 2 spinner is the accidental haircut (gotten when dabi was swinging a knife around like crazy — thank yew @vilevalentino…) and the bandages from defending against said knife attacks and more from dabi (spinner uses his arms a lot when guarding).

i added the matching x’s for no other reason than wanting them to match in some way…

plot yappage under the cut.

basically act 1 details everything up until dabi decides to murder spinner: when and how spinner developed his feelings for dabi, how spinner started on his stalker-killing schtick, blah blah.

act 2 is when dabi actually sets the plan to match spinner’s freak into motion and beyond — haven’t really figured out what waits for them in the future aside from their situationship and the constant murder attempts…

i also held @vilevalentino @ gunpoint to make a dabi design for me so i’m waiting for this man to post it…

I wanna know all about Spinnerdabi's cat and mouse games. Is it like, breaking into each other's houses? Frequenting the spots you know they'll be in order to possibly catch them? Leaving notes where they should've been as a clue as to where to find them next? Do they let each other escape so that there can be a next time? Is this what they call flirting?

SPOT ON YES YES YESSSS + STRAIGHT UP MURDER ATTEMPTS. w/ it’s more or less dabi being the perpetrator and spinner the victim — dabi tries to catch n murder spinner in every kind of way, and spinner’s honestly just trying to stay alive. but even then it’s kiiinda fun, plus sometimes spinner gets the jump on him. they love the homoerotic bloodshed and they drag it out over and over again.

again, the only reason dabi’s always trying to kill spinner now is because of how creepy yandere he was before. he just thinks the guy is the worst kind of human trash until that sudden attraction comes alive.

dabi always swings by at the most random times of day on the most batshit gimmicks too.

i would LOVE to elaborate more but literally the only stuff i got is barely cooked in my brain.

like that gives me so many ideas. like hear me out- dabi never feels good enough. he wasn't good enough for his dad, his mom, nor his siblings, and him feeling like this causes him too spiral, especially since now everyone in his family thinks he's dead. no one wants him. dabi at spinner's place after having a Yknow session, and these mfs finally opening up. dabi never feels good enough about himself and how much he just hates everyone as spinner just holds him, because lord, that is such the opposite to himself. he wants dabi. all of him. he wants dabi. he wants toya. also him understanding the feeling of never being good enough for society or the people around you as they just hold each other AUGUGUH.

OHHHH MY GOOOOOOODDDDDD…. YESSSS HEARING U OUT SOOO HARD

i wanted to go for that w/ dabi’s whole backstory and now story except the only difference would be that he hasn’t torn himself away from his family (listen i need todoroki siblings content + it’s more fun if they watch his descent to basically madness).

he’s just the failure and “problem child” who couldn’t live up to his pop’s expectations, like u said he never felt like he was enough for anyone. so no — he’s not finishing college, he’s dropping out; he’s not following the golden child’s lead (shoto) for even a modicum of attention the way he used to. there’s no point, he’ll never amount to anything, so he’ll keep playing his role as the fool + failure without a future. he goes on, opens a tiiiny little tattoo shop + hair salon or whatever w/ his dad’s money, plus gets involved with shady people on the side blah blah.

he’s already pissed the hell off everyday trying to play his best impression of “normal,” at least in front of his family (that’s why he looks so pissed in his act I design compared to act II. ignore the fact that i forgot to color the eyebag grafts in..)

but he’s not normal he’s a goddamn crashout!!! then spinner starts pissing him off with his god awful stalking, and the god awful killing of those people he talked to but really never liked anyways; the aforementioned ppl in his circle. it wasn’t like he could get the cops over there because w/ the business he’s gotten into, he’d get arrested too, so he burns the bodies after his own investigation.

THEEEN getting stabbed in the stomach in an alleyway by his stalker was the last straw, so YEAH, he takes matters into his own hands — bc he really wants to see spinner gurgling on his own blood, it’d be the perfect revenge!!

and mentioned millions of times before, a dozen murder attempts later, they’ve suddenly got this real homosexual thing going on, and before they fully open up to each other, it probably takes a LOT of… y’know… (SEX) and some REALLY blurred lines!!

BUT OH MY GOD… THE WAY YOU WROTE IT… “he wants dabi. all of him. he wants dabi. he wants toya.” STUFF LIKE THAT WILL NEVER FAIL TO GET ME WEAK IN THE KNEES. like that WHOOOOLE scenario is so canon to the AU trust… in this world they both feel like they’re never enough, but when they’re with each other, whether it’s literal blood and carnage or love and sex, they make one another feel like they’re more than enough.

u remember that one yandere spindabi AU i made and am so obsessed with, I MADE A PLAYLIST… trying to create a balance between heavily depressed and extremely masochistic recovering hikikomori, and sado(masochistic) college dropout with a rich dad gone psycho without it seeming an icky kinda toxic — don’t need the icky toxic i need the fun kind. like a cat and mouse a game as i’ve said a million times over for the both of them even if half the time spinner’s trying not to die.

plus i’m trying to bring in their whole sexual dynamic and some aspects of their self-loathing. ironically, them being together cures most of their perceived shortcomings and allows them to feel desirable, more than abominable freaks w/ nothing to live for or something (y’know… that thing i put on my spindabi list). pluuuss dabi who keeps trying to murder or fuck him, no in between, is the guy of all people to force spinner into therapy — dabi can’t follow his own advice for shit though. basically they end up being pretty good for each other despite the circumstances, but nothing helps their danger seeking sadomasochism schtick.

if i had to chose songs to represent spinner, dabi, then their whole dynamic out of this song pool, it’d be good girl era (bc of the the backstory i want for him in this AU) or vicious bliss for dabi and either tear me open or perverted for spinner. for their general dynamic, it’d probably be perverse + new addiction.

also the daily going ons with these mfs- dabi and spinner share a bedroom and have to deal with each other's mess

spinner is kind of unorganized, mainly bc he's embarrassed and doesn't know how dabi will react to his messes. dabi barely has anything, except for his clothes, and except his phone. he has news papers scatter told together by tape of the where abouts of endeavor and the shoto kid.

spinner asked why he's so obsessed with the todoroki family. dabi, without looking at him, is oddly quite and tells him to mind his own damn business. spinner tells dabi to stop being asshole, and dabi just "tsks" at him.

plus them having to deal with other fantasy themed villians and dabi slowly revealing his goals over time, as spinner gets more experience and grows more confidence in himself while dabi is kind of in a downward spiral AHAHAAHHA

also np np!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they've been on my mind so much as of late HAHAHA

dabi would just hate any time he gets a tune up, but he needs them bc he can't rlly walk properly due to his burn scars

plus having to deal with spinner's nerdy ass and spinner having to deal with dabi's sarcastic, rude ass but AUUUGUH i'm thinking more cuddly and romantic scenes with them like okay

they live in a abandoned building, decorated to their own living and for ppl who don't know, ppl who have burn scars have to apply lotion to help their skin heal and such, so like spinner gently massaging the lotion onto dabi's skin, and he just mumbles the entire time and have a soft little argument. the lights from the laterns and candles are soft as dabi fully, actually relaxes into and spinner blushes a little. dabi's soft blue eyes flicker at him as they meet spinner's soft, homey brown ones

plus them overlooking japan on top of their home, smoking together just ranting about shit and that new show that spinner totally didn't get dabi into, dabi shoves spinner a bit and takes in the gorgeous sites

not to mention, spinner is getting better at hand-to-hand combat and wielding a katana, something endeavor-stankman taught him and he's not bad at it

them slowly opening up to each other PLSSS as they like batman style hop from roof to roof

spinner first caught feelings and started stalking bc dabi called his hair cute when he worked on it a while back, it was easy to work w/ and style.

at first it was, “i’ll orchestrate some scenarios where we meet and surely he’ll have no choice but to get closer to me,” then he realized just how chicken he was. the guy was socially awkward after all, not to mention he probably couldn’t handle even a single conversation with patchwork before running and screaming. but then he saw others talking to him easily, acquaintances, colleagues, friends and family, he got a little spiteful. it was the typical questions, typical thoughts, “who are they? why are they talking to him? who do they think they are acting like they really know him? no one knows him like i do.”

and that’s the funny thing, no one really did. not even spinner — ik that’s the point of this whole yandere trope but hear me out. he never knew about how cynical, self-sabotaging, impulsive, and quick to burn and kill dabi is, BUUUT no one knew dabi like spinner knew dabi soon enough.

y’know, after he tried to kill spinner 4 times and counting, their conversations started to grow longer than 30 seconds, and on a whim they got sexually involved. but even then, it was a gamble because it was only a matter of time before dabi would suddenly try it again.

exhibit a: the one time he was french kissing spinner and halfway through a beer he stole from the reptile’s fridge (when he respectfully broke in), and about a good few minutes in, he smashed the bottle in on a counter and tried to shank him with its broken end.

dabi’s just impulsive and unpredictable, it’s not like his moral compass didn’t exist, he just had lots of screws loose only enabled by spinner. bc spinner was resilient, could fight his crazy off, and was some freak all the same. he had to be if he was the one desperately clinging to the lips, tongue and body of a man that attempted to murder him several times over.
