and for some unknown illogical reason either the 3 manned league managed to break out or they’re just out there. free…

that or it’s modern AU no quirks (heteromorphic traits still exist though) and this is just the result of… something…

HI — this is a funny dabi RP ask blog, plus my first ask blog in general, i got inspired by all of the other silly ask blogs and had the unbearable urge to make one. hopefully it’s not bad for a dupe like me to be lurking around.

don’t know how long term this’ll be considering how swamped things can get (i’ve got a life..), or if i’ll play the emo crashout with daddy issues role right but i’ll try.

RULES

the usual rules regarding basic human decency: no proshippers, or bigotry of any kind over here.

obviously dabi’s gonna be canon typical so don’t start screaming and sobbing if dabi gives a bit of attitude, or just in general acts like an ass!!! it’s just who he is trust!!!

no spamming for an answer — multiple asks is definitely allowed though. also no venting.

and no weird stuff — the flirting and all works + it’s funny but when it gets RAUNCHY.. hell no from me. additionally, if you’ve got something to discuss, or you need to know if you’re overstepping boundaries (or maybe i’m overstepping boundaries) please message me. last thing i want is a misunderstanding!

oh yah and in relation to the former rule, i reserve the right to not respond to an ask if i don’t wanna (though it’s not like there’ll be that many weirdos saying crazy shit for me to have to enforce this rule. HOPEFULLY).

this is probably set after the big “i’m touya” reveal, but honestly there’s no particular time or arc that this ask blog is set in, dabi’s just there.

headcanons are here and here but i’ll also be incorporating them into my responses so obviously it’s not like you have to read em.

guys hear me out

a yandere spinnerdabi AU where spinner is just god-awful at the whole yandere thing and dabi just matches his freak in the worst way.

this is an AU w/ quirks, spinner is probably unemployed, former hikikomori and an erotica writer. dabi is a university dropout and a tattoo artist (photography and hairstyling are side hustles — he does occasionally burn folks when he gets the urge)

maybe spinner is ass and sloppy with the killing and the stalking and he’s SOOO obvious w/ it that dabi finds out. he’s seen spinner outside of his house on occasions, plus people in his circle mysteriously disappearing with not so mysterious “trinkets” left behind at their unreported murder sites (courtesy of spinner’s stupidity).

because really? who else in the world has pink hair except for the guy that again, loiters outside his home with a cap and a hoodie taking pictures, and also seeming to regular that cafe he regulars too. he lurks around the laundromat and the convenience store he visits. it was actually in the cafe that dabi decided to confront him about it, not fully, just something vague to test the waters. all he did was approach his table and say so much as “haven’t i seen you around” with this slightly irate tone before spinner went bolting.

dabi chases this idiot outside into an alleyway, pins and interrogates him. at first he thinks it’s some sloppy agent for the gov’t (he’s a delusional conspiracist at heart), THEN spinner panics and defends himself with the first thing in his pocket, a knife, sending dabi to the floor with a groan and again, spinner fucking books it.

yeah dabi cauterizes the wound after the initial shock with his quirk and he takes a nice drag of a cigarette before coming to the realization that maybe it’s not that all of that complicated “the gov’t is after me” stuff; maybe the guy’s just a creep with extra (more dangerous) steps. so he just decides he’ll break into his house and try to kill him.

and he did. like 14 different times. that’s when spinner realized he was NOT built for this. and dabi doooes kind of find how terrified and flustered spinner gets when his life is on the line cute… so it becomes less of a i’m gonna kill you cause you’re a creep and i’m itching for a reason, and more of some kind of cat and mouse chase (at least for dabi) with somehow growing sexual tension…?

oh and btw at least one of the times involved dabi burning a hole through spinner’s wall with his fist. like i’m talking this kind of BS — dabi is dramatic w/ it.

spinner thinks it’s REALLY creepy when dabi yawns, or smiles, or anything that makes skin pull staples cause all he can do is imagine how weeeird it feels or think about how close the staples are to just popping out.

spinner never says it outright but his loud ass cringing face + the shiver is what gives the pointer. when they were squatting around deika, a staple did pop out at one point. dabi doesn’t laugh much, like actually. not a full from the chest one anyway; he chuckles, snorts, but never laughs. THEN something twice did made dabi laugh REAL hard — a little too hard because two staples popped. he cried, that’s how much he laughed. for a few days or so after, his smile was all uneven and extra gummy, resting bitch face janky in a way that made spinner gag, but in time he fixed it up.

throughout that whole time though, dabi was relentlessly teasing spinner because how could he NOT relish in creeping spinner out, the guy who always tried to act tough (which by the way, never worked).

MORE SPINNER HCS

i’m dealing with art block now… so i once again made some more headcanons for spinner in lieu of actual doodles, and i’m in the mood to share (can you tell i’ve reread the MLA arc recently)

≫ He’s really a short and stocky kind of guy (he’s 5’6 now because I’m trying to fully lean into the short and stocky/short king kind of thing). this is a modified HC, bc i used to draw and describe his body type differently.

≫ He knows his way around blades, throwing knives are more his specialty, melee knives being second seeing as he’s not as good as Toga. The katana is his least tempered skill.

≫ Don’t tell the league.. But Spinner can work a crossbow really well (i saw this HC first from @autumnmobile12 and fell in love with it). He really hates it though so he doesn’t pick it up in battle. He also never put that on his resume, so he’s not keen on getting yelled at. Though one time the league were in a sticky situation and there happened to be a crossbow in the vicinity so Spinner picked one up and started firing — yes the entire league yelled at him for not saying something sooner.

≫ When they were out of a home during the MLA arc, he and Shigaraki went to Compress to hold their consoles and switches. All of that relocating until they finally squatted near Deika made it obviously hard to pack and carry, so what better than to use Compress!!

≫ (this one i’ve modified) There’s the joke going around the league that Spinner’s arms are a one of a kind asset CAUSE THEY ARE. They’re real toned, perfect for lugging around 20 or so blades attached to one sword like a psychopath. He’s quite the gym connoisseur (let’s not use gym rat or I’ll rip my eyes and hair out) but more than anything it’s casual, an almost daily kind of casual but YOU GET THE POINT... He’s not trying to break records, just stay fit and on top of it — it just so happens to be that he builds muscle easier.

≫ Spinner isn’t cold blooded but he might as well be, his body temperature is just cooler than the average person which makes it hard to warm up, plus he’s anemic (his dad is coldblooded however, but he passed that trait to his sisters, Shuichi just didn’t get it). It just so happens that Dabi is a human heater and he needs a good cool down after he works his flames some ridiculous amount, so Spinner uses Dabi as a heat pad and Dabi uses Spinner as a cooling pad.

≫ Spinner used to have a tail, then he cut it off. There was the prejudice, then the tail getting in his way. Needless to say living without a tail threw off his balance for a good while.

≫ Ever since Spinner joined the league, he’s used his quirk for even the most menial tasks. Someone tells him to run some errands and he’s going out through one window and back in through another. It’s efficient! Windows are usually a common entry and exit point for him now, whereas before joining the league, he entered and exited through the door like a “normal” person because of, again, the prejudice surrounding his heteromorphic traits.

I'm new to the Spinnerdabi way of life. What is your propaganda, I mean what makes this a good ship? I like it but I can't put into words why, so please give me your wisdom!

I DONT HAVE BIIIG ABSTRACT REASONS TO SHIP THEM, NONE I CAN PUT INTO WORDS BC I JUST DO SHIP EM!!! their dynamic is fun, just the sight of them in the same frame next to each other makes my brain buzz. here’s a sloppy ass list as to why i ship it (some of which digressed but let’s pretend that didn’t happen)

they’ve just got that kind of bickering like a married couple dynamic i like.

emo crashout x villain boy-failure. that’s it. that’s the ship. this is the propaganda statement trust.

i like to imagine they’re two dudes who feel like they don’t fit the standards of beauty (u could also say that about spinaraki but that’s not the focus atm), dabi’s whole patchwork frankenstein thing he’s got going on, feeling like a gross amalgamation of parts that don’t belong to him, and spinner’s stigmatized heteromorphic traits that’ve probably done a number to his self esteem and made him feel like he could only be defined by his scales. they fall in love w/ each other and along the way learn to love themselves.

the whole dabi’s a human heater and spinner’s a cold-blooded guy (my spinner isn’t cold blooded but suffers the same sort of problems that come with it — excluding brumation). listen even before they got together i can imagine spinner being all over him trust.

also the idea of these dudes pining for SOOO LONG bc of their own internal issues and dabi lowkey wanting to kill himself because of ALL people he has feelings for, IT’S SPINNER?? THAT LOSER?? And even in general, that means he actually has feelings, and he’d rather die than let that be the truth. Turns out that as much as he can sit here and act like he’s an unfeeling dick and a ruthless killer, like he’s only dabi, and dabi alone, that isn’t completely true. there’s still a part of him that wants to love and be loved — touya’s still in there, even if touya doesn’t use that name anymore. safe to say the guy has a crisis.

on spinner’s end, he likes this dickhead and he owns up to it, really admires him too, his whole vibe, his strength, and the actual brain he’s got knocking around in that head of his (basically he’s got sense — SUPPOSEDLY…) gets spinner going — so the question is: how is he supposed to bag THAT baddie? the answer is he can’t, ‘cause he’s been thoroughly convinced that he just can’t ever impress dabi, he’s just a big dumb lizard and all he does is squabble with patchwork, even if it’s lighthearted, what if it’s off-putting to dabi? THAT KINDA STUFF.

IM RAMBLING BUT OVERALL, I LOVE THE TWO MOST OF ALL BC OF THEIR EXISTING DYNAMIC. there’s so many things you can take from them and their characters and so much to explore. ALSOOO….

u remember that one yandere spindabi AU i made and am so obsessed with, I MADE A PLAYLIST… trying to create a balance between heavily depressed and extremely masochistic recovering hikikomori, and sado(masochistic) college dropout with a rich dad gone psycho without it seeming an icky kinda toxic — don’t need the icky toxic i need the fun kind. like a cat and mouse a game as i’ve said a million times over for the both of them even if half the time spinner’s trying not to die.

plus i’m trying to bring in their whole sexual dynamic and some aspects of their self-loathing. ironically, them being together cures most of their perceived shortcomings and allows them to feel desirable, more than abominable freaks w/ nothing to live for or something (y’know… that thing i put on my spindabi list). pluuuss dabi who keeps trying to murder or fuck him, no in between, is the guy of all people to force spinner into therapy — dabi can’t follow his own advice for shit though. basically they end up being pretty good for each other despite the circumstances, but nothing helps their danger seeking sadomasochism schtick.

if i had to chose songs to represent spinner, dabi, then their whole dynamic out of this song pool, it’d be good girl era (bc of the the backstory i want for him in this AU) or vicious bliss for dabi and either tear me open or perverted for spinner. for their general dynamic, it’d probably be perverse + new addiction.
