The Robinsons and Mario Kart Wii

Floating around Tumblr now is the headcanon that the Robinsons are a Nintendo household. I agree! So I'm gonna share something I've had written down in a notebook for a while now: What each Robinson mains in MKWii!

Why MKWii and not MK8? Because MK8 is painfully average and boring. Where's the jank? The standalone mini turbos? The busted stats? THE PROPER INSIDE DRIFT?! Everything in MK8 is balanced and boring. Therefore, no competition. MKWii is chaos, and therefore perfect for a Robinson game night!

Because I'm extra, as well as including their favorite characters to play, I will also include: Preferred vehicle, fav track, and fav OST. Plus a little paragraph of how they play. Listen, MKWii was one of my hyperfixations when I was little. I know this game by the back of my hand. LET'S GET INTO THIS!

Bud - Koopa Troopa: Standard Bike S Fav Track: Koopa Cape Fav OST: Koopa Cape (Pipe) - He's not the best at the game by a long shot, but he'll play it for the grandbaby. At least he gets the chance to play on his favorite track from when Neil would want to play with him back in the day.

Lucille - Toadette: Mini Beast Fav Track: DS Yoshi Falls Fav OST: N64 Sherbet Land - Same point for Bud can be said about Lucille. The Sherbet Land OST reminds her of her first Christmas with Neil.

Fritz/Petunia - Daisy: Wild Wing Fav Track: N64 Mario Raceway Fav OST: No Trophy For You! - Beginner level skills. Fritz plays for fun, but Petunia plays for competition! Daisy reminds him of her.

Laszlo - Baby Luigi: Jet Bubble Fav Track: Coconut Mall Fav OST: Coconut Mall - Intermediate level of skills. He can perform some easy shortcuts, like the Mushroom Gorge and DK Summit gap jumps. He also holds the opinion that Coconut Mall is the GOAT. He's not wrong.

Tallulah - Rosalina: Honeycoupe Fav Track: Moonview Highway Fav OST: Daisy Circuit - Casual player with an intermediate level of skills. She can perform certain shortcuts, she just doesn't because she's not overly competitive... unless she's playing against Laszlo.

Joe - Birdo: Classic Dragster Fav Track: DS Delfino Square Fav OST: DS Peach Gardens - Purely casual player. However, he might secretly get a leg up on you in the race. Why? He's lucky with the item RNG.

Billie - Dry Bones: Tiny Titan Fav Track: Wario's Gold Mine Fav OST: DK Summit - Competitive casual type. She is in it to win most of the time, but she's the type to not really want to improve her skills.

Gaston - Waluigi: Wario Bike Fac Track: GCN Waluigi Stadium Fav OST: GCN Waluigi Stadium - Speed is key for him, and he loves all the tracks where he can go ham and perform a bunch of tricks. Speed is his key, but he doesn't have the knowledge of which character and kart combos will allow him to gain that speed.

Art - Toad: Blue Falcon Fav Track: Rainbow Road Fav OST: Online Boss Theme - Back in MKWii's hay day, he played all of the online content. Like the boss battles and competitive races. It's because of this that he has knowledge of all the tips of the trade.

Carl - Baby Mario: Bullet Bike Fav Track: Mushroom Gorge Fav OST: Block Plaza - Really only plays it when Wilbur wants him to. He's programmed to be a decent challenger. So... not like the CPUs in the game, lol. Even in Mirror Mode, the CPUs are a joke.

Spike/Dmitri - Diddy Kong: Dolphin Dasher Fav Track: Moo Moo Meadows Fav OST: N64 DK's Jungle Parkway - They don't play often, which is why they tend to stick to the easier cups and engine classes.

Wilbur - Bowser Jr.: Sneakster Fav Track: Bowser's Castle Fav OST: Maple Treeway - He's made it his life mission to upstage his father in skill. Good luck to him, because Neil knows the ultra shortcuts and all of the hidden stats.

Franny - Yoshi: Wild Wing Fav Track: GCN Peach Beach Fav OST: Maple Treeway - Keeps it casual when asked. But otherwise? You're going down. Her weakness is the jankiness of the game.

Cornelius - Mario: Mach Bike Fav Track: Rainbow Road Fav OST: Rainbow Road - The master of jank. He can perform ultra shortcuts like the Grumble Volcano rock hop/respawn glitch and the Mushroom Gorge cliff ride. He's beaten every fast staff ghost. He's got the item RNG on lock. He has no respect for the key checkpoints. He knows which bikes to use and what characters are best. He shows no mercy. Side note - The RR OST gives him an eargasm every time with its nods to Super Mario Galaxy (his favorite Mario game).

Was looking at Meet the Robinsons stuff for an image edit hopefully forthcoming and...anyone wanna see my collection of Robinsons headcanons? Because every so often, I remember this film exists and also that I made, like, a slew of backstories for these characters

-I don’t have much to say about Bud and Lucille since they’re kind of what you see on the tin. Same with Lewis/Cornelius, Wilbur, and Carl.

-Franny has been dating Cornelius since the science fair. She actually went through high school and college at the expected rate while Cornelius blew right through college before Franny even graduated high school. She felt self-conscious about this for a long time, but Cornelius never saw her as less intelligent and always loved her. She eventually found out that she set herself up with Cornelius via time loop and her only reaction was “See? I’m ALWAYS RIGHT.”

-Gaston Framagucci knows so much about cannons because he used to develop weaponry for the military. After his designs killed civilians, he underwent a mental breakdown, walking out of his position and vowing never to hurt anyone else again. Cornelius invited him into his house with open arms so as not to leave him alone during his depression. He got better over time. He’s also gay and very shy around handsome men, which is why you never see him with a romantic partner. Franny’s still trying to set him up on the ultimate blind date.

-Art Framagucci has wanted to deliver pizza all his life. Delivering pizza is his passion. But delivering pizza doesn’t earn you a living wage. Once Cornelius realized he was making more money than he could spend on himself reasonably, he immediately invited Art to move into the house as well so Art could have food and lodging paid for without having to give up his passion. He doesn’t have a partner because he just hasn’t gotten around to looking for one (might be aro).

-Both Art and Gaston thought of Franny’s biology work as “nerd stuff” before Cornelius started coming over as a teen and giving them a double dose of the smart stuff, at which point Gaston realized ballistic physics interested him and Art, despite not being a scientist in any sense, had a lot of respect for most fields. They still liked to tease Cornelius a lot, though - never in a bullying way, but affectionately.

-Petunia Robinson died in a motorcycle accident. Fritz wears the puppet because he can’t bear to think of her as being gone. Her personality, while alive, was as boisterous and confrontational as Fritz makes the puppet - she and Fritz were always fighting like a married couple and very opposites-attract.

-Tallulah Robinson is trans. (Yes, I thought of this because of the voice - and kept it that way because I just liked the idea.) She told Cornelius before she told her own parents because Cornelius always was the one to be accepting of new ideas. When she did come out publicly to the family, no one judged. She’s not very science-oriented at all, but she loves fashion design, and she made that skyscraper-hat herself. Her closet is actually packed with really avant-garde clothing she has made herself. Her dream is to become a big name in the fashion circuit. And also to never need to take off her roller skates ever. She actually has held a part-time position as a waitress in a roller-skate café (I actually saw this idea on another Tumblr post a long time ago but can’t remember who it was, so if it’s you, thank you; I accept it!)

-Laszlo is similar to Tallulah in that he’s more artistically oriented than scientifically. He didn’t actually make his paint device; that was Cornelius. Laszlo loves to experiment with paint styles, but is one of those people who thinks there’s a very blurry line between “graffiti” and “public art.” He’s gotten some citations for “masterpieces” he doesn’t deny having painted on the side of the hospital. (Also, if you misgender his sister, he will squirt red paint into your eyes.)

-Though Laszlo and Tallulah seem to be at odds almost constantly, they are a dynamic duo and love each other very much when the chips are down.

-Joe Robinson is nonverbal but actually is very eloquent with the written word. Billie made such a good match for him because she didn’t mind doing the talking for two and he loves listening to her. He writes her the most beautiful love poetry in the world.

-Billie Robinson is autistic and trains are her special interest. She met Joe through being contracted by Cornelius for a monorail project for the city; she came to the house for business dinners and Joe stopped by the office to visit Cornelius a few times. She’s also asexual and Joe is completely accepting of this.

-Mike Yagoobian is a close family friend. He actually has made it into a local baseball league, with prospects at the Major League, adding the athletics field to the Robinson deck. While he is no longer evil (or, more accurately, has never been evil), he’s still that much of a goofball. Wilbur, Tallulah, and Laszlo all call him “Uncle Goob” and he loves spoiling them with candy and other fun things tailored to their interests (like fancy new shoes for Tallulah and bright paints for Laszlo).

-Lefty is another of Franny’s biological creations. He’s very close to her and she sometimes treats him like a big baby.

-The gag about Spike and Dmitri being total enigmas is so funny that I actively refuse to come up with any backstory or explanation as to who they are or why they’re there. They just showed up one day and the others made food for them and now they won’t leave the pots.

don’t get it wrong, karl never even hints at being unhappy with you or your relationship, but what if that’s because he’s too he’s nice and sweet and he’d never intentionally hurt you

so what if he’s faking it

and what if he is secretly telling all his friends on discord that he can’t wait to break up with you

and what if he never tells anyone about your relationship bc he’s embarrassed to be seen with you

he’s streaming now, and you had to turn it off because as much as you love hearing karl laugh with his friends, each laugh feels like a step further away from you and closer to the realization that you’re not special at all

you’re not a famous streamer or super skilled at storytelling, you can’t draw for the life of you and sometimes you forget the words to songs

you don’t have an insta-worthy body or an interesting face,,, and you can’t imagine karl ever bragging about you

cue karl currently, on his stream, telling chat about you for the umpteenth time: “listen chat ik i said i’d introduce you but i’m a selfish man, okay? i want to keep my partner all to myself! haha! sucks to suck chat.”

“imagine not having a partner chat looks rlly lame right now!!”

“actually guys my partner is so pretty once they consent to a face reveal it’s going to be so crazy... like you’re all going to fall in love with them”

does that thing where he makes his voice high and raises his eyebrows “but guess what chat???? they’re all mine!!! heheheh!!!!”

“what?” and karl gets kind of pouty. like he’s one of those cancers that cries at the sight of emotion in another. literally sniffles before you can finish ur thought bless him.

“idk i just see you with all your friends and it’s like i’m the lamest person you know,” you try to explain.

karl is rubbing circles into your skin with his thumb, and he pulls you even closer to him if that’s possible, so that you can hear his heartbeat through his shirt “i am literally so in love with you that you’re all i talk about to my friends. seriously, ask any of them.”

“but—”

“butts are for chairs, silly!!” karl nuzzles his nose against yours, getting you to giggle. “besides,” he lowers his voice and looks into your eyes, super serious. “sapnap is by far the lamest person i know. i don’t think you could ever beat him, babe.”

you giggle again, and karl kisses your nose, and then your cheeks, and then your forehead. “can i post us? i get it if you’re not comfortable, but chat keeps asking about you and i really want to.”

“chat knows about me?”

“duh!” karl snorts. “i’m kind of offended you don’t watch my streams enough to know that.”

makes u watch the jonas brothers year 3000 music video three times to make up for the fact that you didn’t watch his stream :// he’s so rude ://

that night u get a notif that u were tagged in an instagram pic, and it’s some candid karl must’ve taken awhile ago when you weren’t looking. but you’re standing with him in line for ice cream, and you’re looking at the sun, squinting at the rays

"Stop" - W.I.J Day 15

This takes place before Dmitri meets Vincent.

(This is based on an anon ask on @ashintheairlikesnow who also owns Kauri so go give her some love)

Dmitri sits at the counter, taking in the energy of the room. Bars like this, at the tail end of June, are packed with people. Most are a lot younger than him, enjoying the air free of judgment.

Tonight is different.

Dmitri sits at one of the bar stools, sipping a mojito silently. He leans on the counter with an elbow and just lets the sounds of the bar trickle into his senses.

“So,” Cassie, one of the bartenders, says, “How’s the night?”

“You startled me,” Dmitri chuckles as he swirls his glass, “It’s alright, just trying to take some of this energy.”

Cassie gives him a warm smile, “Take it in, hell it leeches from me here.”

“‘Cause it’s your job Cassie,” Dmitri says, “I love my work but it still steals my spirit some days.”

Cassie blows a strand of red hair out of her eyes as she shakes up a cocktail. Her gaze wanders the crowds of mostly younger men and women, all enjoying the night of drinks and music. Dmitri smiles, remembering the days when he was young and did the same.

“Surprised you're not joining them,” Dmitri says after taking another sip of his drink, “It’s fun.”

“Ah no.” Cassie pours the alcohol into a glass, it fades from red to clear and smells like cherries. She tosses a sugared cherry in with the mix and slides it down a few chairs, “Just paying for college.”

Dmitri nods and lets his vision fade into the lights. Flashing reds, purples, and greens cascade around the floor and he can feel the music in his pulse.

“Did you ever come here when you were younger,” Cassie says and she fills some shots for some college kids, “You've been here most of your life.”

“By most do you mean because I’m nearly 40?”

“I mean, sure you can go with that,” Cassie returns with a nonchalant shrug to rival a pidgin.

“Moved out here when I was 19, I’m gonna be 40 in a few months… 21 years… yeah I think Antony just opened this place when I came here for dates,” Dmitri says polishing off his Mojito, “Oh speaking of Antony, just put the drinks on my tab. He knows I’ll pay him by the end of the month.”

“Two steps ahead of you,” Cassie chuckles as she slides him another Mojito, “You and Antony close or something? He hates when people ask for tabs but he lets you.”

“Eh,” Dmitri shrugs, tipping the second glass towards her, “His wife, Yennifer, she’s my cousin and I’m close with her. She’s probably the only reason I can do this anyway.”

Cassie smiles, “Mrs. Robinson’s your cousin?! I knew you two looked similar!”

Dmitri just shrugs.

“Well,” Cassie says as she picks up another bottle, “Gotta get back to work, have a nice night.”

“You as well,” Dmitri replies, heading elsewhere.

The sounds of the nightclub fowl around him and he lets the feeling of wild youthfulness just set in his bones. Part of him missed the chaos that was his twenties, the constant adrenaline from fun and hubris. Yet, the years set him forward and now he just watches.

“Hey~”

Dmitri spins on the stool and faces the voice. A younger man, in his mid-twenties, smiles drunkenly at Dmitri, “How you doin’ tonight?”

“Doing well, just observing.”

The man tilts his head and the mess of loose black curls nearly falls into his drink, “Well I observed you. From over there.” He tosses his head back from where he came and his hair flies. His eyes, clouded blue, stare at him lazily.

Dmitri can tell from both time and experience that he is drunk. The way the young man’s words slurred just slightly and the way his pupils could never seem to focus on him gives it all away. However, something in his gut tells Dmitri something’s off.

Dmitri returns the careless smile, “Really? Why is that?”

Curls leans forward, his eyes flicking across Dmitri’s body, “Well Mister Big-n-Tall you looked lonely sitting here.” He props his head upon his elbow and scrunches his nose at Dmitri.

I am more than likely almost twice your age curls, you must love making poor decisions.

“How about I get you and I a coke and then we can talk, hmm?” Dmitri asks, trying to hide his slight uncomfortability.

“Of course,” blue eyes says as he almost falls onto the counter, “I’ll wait here handsome.”

Dmitri stands and walks over to the vending machine. He thinks about how to gently slide off this guy without being obvious.

Haven’t been flirted with like this in at least a year.

Dmitri lets himself listen to the people around him as he thinks. As the dollars slide into the machine he hears a gruffer voice laugh.

“You see that guy over there, black curls, looks like Vincent Shield, has been drinking for a while. I added something spicy to his last Paloma and once he’s done with the big guy we can take him back to my place for some fun.”

I fucking knew something was off.

Dmitri grit his teeth as he grabs the two cokes and glances over his shoulder. Three guys sit watching Curls with predatory gazes. They’re all younger than Dmitri but not by much. It takes a fair bit of willpower not to walk over there and teach them a colorfully shown message.

But he doesn’t.

He slides back next to Curls and hands him one of the cokes. Curls takes it and pops it open and takes a sip. Dmitri leans over the counter and waves down Cassie and points out the three assholes in the back.

He turns back to Curls, “So… company? I have an apartment a block or two from here if you wish to join me.”

Curls drunkenly pulls himself closer and coos, “I’d be happy to go back with you and find out what else on you is big.”

I’m too old for this.

He guides Curls outside and nearly carries him back to his apartment. All the while, doll eyes is drunkenly flirting with him. Dmitri ignores the itching irritation that each comment brings. He’s been drugged Dmitri, he’s probably not acting right even in his own eyes.

The cool summer night air wakes Dmitri up a little and reminds him of the slight buzz he has. Tonight was more than likely not the best night to be taking someone home, intentions pure or otherwise. He has work tomorrow and shouldn’t be doing this.

He’s just a kid making bad decisions as kids do. He didn’t plan on getting drugged, have some grace.

Eventually, after having to carry this guy in his arms, they reach the mess of his apartment. Curls reaches up and places a kiss on the underside of Dmitri’s jaw, sealing the coffin of his uncomfortability. Dmitri snatches up a blanket and wraps blue eyes up in it before setting him down on his couch.

“Go to sleep.”

Curls looks up at him, pinned under the tightly wrapped blankets, “Aren’t we gonna have some fun.”

He tries to lean forward and kiss him again. Dmitri just pushes him back down, “Stop.”

Disappointment, and a bit of fear, blooms in Curls’ eyes. “Please.”

“No,” Dmitri says dryly, “You’re in no condition to be agreeing to anything right now.”

Curls pouts and attempts to sit up. Dmitri places a firm hand on his chest and pushes his head back onto the pillow, “Go. To. Sleep. So you can sleep off whatever stuff they gave you.”

Curls shakes his head but Dmitri watches as his eyes droop. Whatever drugs this kid was spiked with care clearly a type of sedative. With Dmitri’s hand firmly on his shoulder, Curls eventually falls asleep.

Dmitri only stands when he can hear the slightest of snores coming from the kid.

I need sleep. Dmitri stands and walks to his own room and falls face-first onto his bed. Sleep hits him like a truck and it feels like he wakes instantly after.

He wakes up hours before the young guy does and about an hour before he goes in for work.

Dmitri stands in his kitchen as the coffee pot brews the ichor of life. The smell of cinnamon rolls he threw into the oven drifts across his apartment. His eyes drift back over to the man on his couch.

Who is he?

Now that he is getting a good look at him, Dmitri has seen him around before with other men, usually around his age. Dmitri never took the time to note him before except for now.

He is thin, almost gaunt. His hair in loose, dark curls looks dull in natural light and he is pale to the point where he reflects light.

Probably not in the best phase of life right now.

A bit of sympathy washes over Dmitri, he remembers a time like that. When he moved out to California to work under his Uncle after his dad passed. He made mistakes, got in trouble, was hurt in more ways than one. His twenties were not joyous times for him.

Maybe this kid has a similar stick of life.

As he turns to pour himself some coffee, the kid sits up and rubs his face. Dmitri watches as he gets a reading on the room and stares at Dmitri.

“Um… hi. Good morning?” he says, all of last night’s drunken confidence gone.

“Sleep well?” Dmitri says as he pours out two cups of coffee.

“Yeah..?” he murmurs as he rubs his forehead, “Yeah I did.”

Dmitri places a half-n-half and a cup of coffee on the table in front of him, ‘Here you go.”

“Thanks! Um…”

“Dmitri, yours?” Dmitri asks as he steps back and leans against his counter.

“My what?”

“Your name,” Dmitri states and the buzzer goes off for the cinnamon rolls, “I didn’t catch your name yesterday.”

“Kauri.” Kauri answers as he takes a sip of his coffee, “Yesterday was nice, we were too busy for names.”

Dmitri glances over his shoulder as he puts the glaze across the cinnamon rolls, “You don’t remember anything from yesterday do you?”

“...No.”

“I’m practically twice your age kiddo, we didn’t sleep together. I brought you over because some assholes drugged you and were talking about it,” Dmitri says as he tosses the empty glaze container into the trash.

“Oh… thanks,” Kauri awkwardly mutters.

Dmitri can feel Kauri’s nervousness from the other side of the room. He knows the feeling of waking up in a stranger’s house with no recollection of going there. Only the shadow of your decisions looming at you in the form of another human who could have done anything to you.

“I have to head to work,” Dmitri says as he takes a cinnamon roll and his coffee, “Eat the rest, you need them more than I do. Do me a favor and when you leave, lock the door behind you.”

“Um, Thank you,” Kauri answers, confused. He doesn’t add anything else but watches Dmitri walk towards the door.

Dmitri steps one foot out the door before leaning back inside, “I know your not going to listen to me because I’m just some rando whose house you woke up in but don’t go home with everyone you flirt with, some asshole is going to hurt you, I’ve had it happen to me. Just keep yourself safe alright.”

Kauri nods, even more confused. Dmitri doesn’t have the time to stay and talk. He leaves for work and doesn’t come back until late in the evening.

Curls isn’t there when he gets back.

Storyline (per IMDB): Lewis an orphan wants to see what his mother looked like. So he invents a machine that looks through your brain so you can see your memories. But this weird kid says he’s from the future and warns him about a guy in a bowler hat. The bowler hat guy messes with his invention and it fails. He decides that he’s a failure and no one wants him. But the kid that warned him about the guy is here on a mission to find the bowler hat guy that wants to destroy Lewis. To prove he’s from the future he takes Lewis to the future. But the time machine breaks and he’s stuck in the future until he fixes it. In the meantime he spends quality time with the family. But the bowler hat guy is about to alter time and it’s up to Lewis to save the future.

Pre-Watching Thoughts: We continue on through the 2000s with our next film and this is a big one because in March of 2007 when this film was released, that was when I began my tenure with Regal Entertainment Group. So for the next 11 years, I would see Disney’s films in the theaters and I would see how successful or potentially how badly they would be, though in all honesty this is one I do not remember that much because I was just getting my feet wet working at the movie theater. After the last few films have been very disappointing and dismal, I am hoping that this film finally turns things around though again my hopes are not that high.

Voice Cast: We continue with the trend of having a brand new cast for each film though we did have a few actors return as well, and in addition we had a few actors pull multiple duty as they voiced multiple characters in the film. But as mentioned, we do have a few returning actors as Adam West returns to voice Uncle Art and also we have the return of Laurie Metcalf who voices Lucille Krunklehorn. We now move onto the newcomers as we have Jordan Fry who voices Lewis in one of the biggest roles of his career, and we should mention that Lewis was originally voiced by Daniel Hansen with Fry being brought in to do re-dubs of lines. We then have the legendary Tom Selleck who voices Lewis as an adult as he was starting to wind down his career, and then we have Wesley Singerman who voices Wilbur Robinson in what would be the last role of his short film career. Next, we have Steven Anderson who voices Bowler Hat guy along with Grandpa Bud and cousin Tallulah in multiple roles, and we should also mention Matthew Josten who voices Michael Yagoobian as a child. We then have Harland Williams who voices Carl as he was in the peak of his career by this point, and then we have Nicole Sullivan who voices Franny with Jessie Flower voicing Franny as a child. Next, we have Angela Bassett who voices Mildred as she was also hitting the peak of her career at this point, and then we have Ethan Sandler who voices multiple roles including DOR-15, Uncle Fritz and Aunt Petunia, the twins Spike and Dmitri, Cousin Laszlo, and the CEO of InventCo. We then have Don Hall who voices Uncle Gaston and the Gym Coach in dual roles as he also wrote the screenplay for the film, and then we have Tom Kenny who voices Mr. Willerstein though he will forever be remembered as Spongebob Squarepants. Next, we have Kelly Hoover who voices Aunt Billie in a minor role and then we have Tracey Miller-Zarneke who voices Lizzy in a minor role, and we have Joe Mateo who voices the T-Rex and then we have Aurian Redson who voices Frankie the frog with Jamie Cullum providing the singing voice. We then have Paul Butcher who voices Stanley in a minor role and we have Dara McGarry who voices the receptionist and Mrs. Harrington in a dual role, and then we have John H.H. Ford who voices Mr. Harrington and finally we have Nathan Greno who voices Lefty as he also had a hand in the screenplay. This was something that I haven’t mentioned in previous reviews of members of the creative team also providing voices, and this honestly might be one of the most low-key casts in Disney history as there was a significant lack of star power for the film.

Hero/Prince: We have had a string of fairly substandard heroes to this point which is sad since we were on such a good run early on in the run, and we will see if that trend continues here as we have the young man known as Lewis. He is left at an orphanage when he is a baby and he grows up loving science though he is frustrated that no one adopts him, and he decides to try and find his mother by inventing a device that could read his memory though it is sabotaged at the science fair. He starts to lose faith in his abilities until Wilbur arrives and takes him to the future though they inadvertently destroy the time machine, and Lewis agrees to fix the machine if Wilbur takes him back in time to see his mother which Wilbur agrees. Lewis meets Wilbur’s family and they become close until they learn Lewis is from the past, and after Wilbur admits he lied Lewis runs away and is coerced by the Bowler Hat guy to fix the Memory scanner. Lewis learns the truth that he is Wilbur’s future father and after Bowler Hat guy changes the future, Lewis fixes the machine and goes back in time where he manages to restore the timeline. Wilbur decides to take Lewis back to the moment where his mother left him at the orphanage though he chooses to let the events play out, and Lewis showcases the Memory scanner and wins the science fair as he is adopted and the timeline continues on as planned. Lewis is a pretty typical kid in that he has a specific love which is science though he does have a desire to be loved and feels his mother abandoned him, and after several failures he is ready to give up though upon learning what the future holds he is encouraged to continue on and fix things. He ends up getting everything he wanted as he has a family and he becomes a major success with his numerous inventions, and while he is not a typical hero he is pretty special for this film though he will probably not rank high amongst the other heroes.

Princess: N/A

Villain: For the first time since Treasure Planet, we have a pair of villains for this film though one is a true villain while the other is not so much a reluctant villain, but a misguided villain and we start with him as it is Michael “Goob” Yagoobian or Bowler Hat guy. He is a roommate with Lewis and is obsessed with baseball as he wants to be the one to win the championship for his team, but the day of the championship he is kept awake by Lewis and he falls asleep during the game which causes his team to lose. He is beat up by the team and kicked off the team as he becomes resentful to Lewis and is never adopted, and as he grows up he remains at the orphanage and vows revenge on Lewis when he meets the true villain of the movie which is the hat known as DOR-15 or “Doris”. DOR-15 was created by an adult Lewis to serve as a helper hat but malfunctioned and was left abandoned, and it would escape and meet with Goob who came up with the plan to sabotage Lewis during the science fair before stealing his Memory scanner and passing it off as their own. After some failed attempts, they manage to coerce Lewis into showing them how it works before revealing the plan, and they succeed in taking the credit and the future is changed though it is shown that DOR-15 betrayed Goob and enslaved humanity. Lewis goes back in time and stops them by saying he would never created DOR-15 which causes it to disappear permanently, and Goob sees the error of his ways though leaves out of guilt. After Lewis returns to his time, he makes sure that Goob is awake to win the championship game and he is hailed a hero, and Goob is later adopted by a family which changes his future and maintains Lewis’. DOR-15 is a typical example of a robot meant for good that turns bad and wants to rule the world though it is stopped fairly easily which makes it a weak villain, and Goob is a classic example of a troubled soul that goes down the wrong path though he ultimately is redeemed. As a result, both of these characters are not very memorable villains and will rank near the bottom of the list.

Other Characters: This is an interesting film in that the majority of the other characters in the film are all part of an extended family, but there were a few other characters in the film as well that are fairly important to the story. We start off with the family Robinson which includes Lucille Krunklehorn who is one of the judges of the science fair, and she ends up adopting Lewis along with her husband Bud which Lewis finds out when he goes to the future. We then have Franny who is one of the classmates of Lewis and she is fond of frogs, and she would go onto be Lewis’ wife and would train her frogs to sing and play instruments in the future. We then have Wilbur Robinson who returns to the past under the guise of a cop as he tries to keep Lewis on the right path, and he takes Lewis to the future and promises to take him to see his mother if Lewis fixes the time machine as Lewis learns that Wilbur is his future son. At one point, Wilbur disappears when Bowler Hat guy and DOR-15 change the timeline only for Lewis to fix everything and restore Wilbur, and Wilbur takes Lewis to see his mother as promised before returning him to his original time. We then have the other members of the family including Franny’s brothers Art and Gaston, Uncle Joe, Aunt Billie, Uncle Fritz and “Aunt Petunia” who is a puppet on his hand, cousin Tallulah and Laszlo, the twins Spike and Dmitri, Lefty the butler, and Buster the dog. We also have Carl the robot who is invented by Lewis in the future and he helps Wilbur in his plan, and Carl helps Lewis and Wilbur out until DOR-15 destroys him though he is revived by Lewis. We then have Mildred who owns the orphanage and tries her best to help Lewis and Goob get adopted, and then we have the other minor characters like the family that interviews to adopt Lewis, the other kids in the school, Lewis’ science teacher and the gym coach, and the board of directors of InventCo. While most of the focus was on the Robinson family which makes sense given its in the name of the film, the other characters in the film played some sort of purpose to the film.

Songs: This is another film that I never thought had any songs in it, but sure enough it did have a few though again they felt more like background noise as opposed to being a critical part of the film like in the past. The first song to talk about is the song “Another Believer” which is sung as Lewis begins building his Memory Scanner, and it is a fine song to serve as a transition into one of the main points of the film. The next song in the film is the brief song “The Future Has Arrived” which is first heard as a theme song when Lewis arrives in the future and is heard again during the credits performed by the All-American Rejects, and again it is a basic song in the film as it is more showcased in the end. The next song is “Where is Your Heart At?” sung by Frankie the frog as it is quick and easy and fairly forgettable, and then we have “Little Wonders” which is performed during the closing credits by Rob Thomas and it is again fairly forgettable. We do get one more song during the credits which is “The Motion Waltz (Emotion Commotion)” and it is mainly there to close out the film. Even though these last few films have had more songs than I ever remembered, it is clear that the songs are no longer the focus of these films which is sad since that seemed to be a staple of the earlier films and we will see if this trend continues.

Plot: This is another film that I was not aware was based off a book and given how short the book is, you knew that they were going to take some liberties in coming up with a plot though they did try to keep some faithfulness to the book. In the film, Lewis is an orphan who tries to create numerous inventions which typically fail and cost him chances at being adopted, and he decides to create an invention that can scan memories so he can find his real mother. However, the invention is sabotaged by Bowler Hat man and DOR-15 despite Wilbur’s warnings and Lewis becomes discouraged, and Wilbur takes Lewis to the future in a time machine which gets destroyed and Lewis agrees to fix it if Wilbur takes him back in time to see his mother. Lewis meets Wilbur’s family and becomes close with them until they learn he is from the past and Lewis learns that he is Wilbur’s future father, and Wilbur admits he lied to Lewis who runs away and comes across Bowler Hat guy who steals the Memory Scanner. He reveals that he is Lewis’ old roommate Goob who holds a grudge against Lewis due to being the reason his baseball team lost the championship, and he partnered together with DOR-15 who was an invention cast aside by Lewis and they take credit for the Scanner which changes the future. Lewis fixes the time machine and prevents the plan from going down as DOR-15 disintegrates and the timeline is restored, and Wilbur takes Lewis to the past to meet his mother though Lewis ends up putting it behind him. Lewis returns to his time and his fixed Scanner wins the science fair as he is also adopted which sets the timeline into motion. Again, they had to take some liberty with the plot given how short the book is though they do call back to the book in the film for those that are loyal to the book, and considering the plot was in essence original it was a fine plot for a film based off a basic children’s book.

Random Watching Thoughts: I believe this is the first film to feature the Walt Disney Animation Studios logo; Lewis’ mother must’ve been in real dire straits if she felt that she had to give up Lewis to an orphanage; She could afford to have a blanket for baby Lewis, yet she had to leave him in a cardboard box; Goob is going on and on while Lewis is clearly too focused on his work to pay attention to his ramblings; Goob tries to use the airhorn to get Lewis’ attention only to blow it in his own face; The Harringtons quickly realize that they are in over their head with Lewis just reading his notebook; How is that toaster not weighing down on Lewis’ head and causing him to lose his balance?; I wonder who Sarah and Jack are; You know there’s trouble when Lewis has kept exact count of all the times he’s been rejected; That is a big stretch for Lewis to think that his mother would want him now when she gave him up as a baby; He gets the idea for the Memory Scanner from a “Brain Scanners from Mars” billboard; “Boring”; Goob is clearly over being Lewis’ assistant; Everyone is used to Lewis’ inventions going bad that they have their own protection; I don’t think Mildred should be giving Goob coffee when he’s so young; “You have to get out of the past and look to the future”, something that will come into play later in the film; Lucille was right when she said that she doesn’t get out of the lab very often; How has Lucille not died from a caffeine overdose?; Are they really that short of teachers that the gym teacher is a judge for the science fair?; Of course the goth girl would have fire ants; Time Continuum Task Force; All DOR-15 had to do to sabotage the Scanner is loosen a few screws; If he is entering the date like I think he is, he was left behind at the orphanage on January 23rd, 2011; The gym coach tries hard to resist the fire ants, but ends up running around crying like a girl; This was the one invention that didn’t explode, but it still caused an insane amount of damage; I get future Goob was supposed to be a villain, but they made him way too stereotypical; Of all the things Wilbur could’ve used for a fake badge, he had to use a $15 coupon for a tanning salon; It’s a good thing Wilbur knew where his time machine was when he threw Lewis off the roof because that could’ve been really bad; Insta-Building; Obviously, they took some inspiration from Tomorrowland in the Disney parks to the point that the city was called “Todayland”; Instead of cars, people get around in bubbles; Lewis thinks he’s older than Wilbur because he was born in the past and technically, he is right in that; Goob thinks the receptionist is listening to him when she is actually on the phone; If only the real Mary Johnson came in and realized that someone stole her appointment spot; The CEO has seen a lot of pitches to the point that he times them to a specific point; Lewis went to the point that he had to make the headphones comfortable to wear; That is a strong cord to be able to pull the CEO across the table that easily; Goob actually censors himself when writing on his checklist; Of all the things to put on Lewis’ head to disguise him, he would use a fruit hat; How come we never actually learn why Spike and Dmitri are in those plants asking people to ring their doorbells?; Carl rants to Wilbur about the dangers they face yet also makes mention about his stolen bike; Yeah that sounds bad, but there is a .000001% chance Wilbur will live; Is it just me or does Bud look a lot like Geri from the Pixar short “Geri’s Game”?; Gaston would’ve beaten the train if he didn’t blast himself into the pillar; He painted a masterpiece in mere seconds; Fritz has a puppet on his hand that believes it’s alive and everyone treats it like it’s normal; The dog has insurance?; Only in the future can an octopus be a butler; Apparently, Franny was a fan of the Rat Pack because her frogs are pretty much carbon copies of them; Lewis learned about the family tree pretty quickly; They actually superimposed a real picture of Tom Selleck; They have no icepacks nearby so Goob has to use a piece of meat on his black eye; Adult Goob acting like the Emperor from “Star Wars” telling child Goob to embrace the hate; “Keep Moving Forward”; You have to be really dedicated if you fail well over 900 times yet keep working towards your goal; Lewis messes up one time on something he’s never dealt with before and he’s ready to give up completely again; Goob needs some work with his coordination skills in driving the mini DOR-15; Call me crazy, but gravy doesn’t work on spaghetti and meatballs; So the USA conquered Canada at some point and renamed it North Montana; The screen goes dark right before the fight and they even ape the classic Japanese samurai films complete with the overdubbed dialogue; So the first course was spaghetti and meatballs which is the appetizer to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches; Clearly, Frankie still has some of his wits if he claims that Goob’s plan isn’t the best; I’ve never seen people celebrate failure so much; Goob probably should’ve thought more about going back in time and getting a dinosaur to do his bidding; These are some very unorthodox ways to fight off a T-Rex; Lewis would end up in the one area where the T-Rex couldn’t reach him; Even the T-Rex has his own language; Looks like mini DOR-15 is sleeping with the fishes; Wilbur really doesn’t want to reveal the truth to the family, but they left him no choice; They have to show Goob crossing his fingers behind his back; All of those futuristic buildings yet the orphanage looks like it hasn’t been touched in years; He kept his old baseball uniform on all these years; Goob thinks that everyone hated him yet it looks like they wanted to be friends with him; He is a typical example of not taking responsibility for your own actions and instead want to blame someone else; If only Wilbur had made sure the door was shut completely to set the alarm; Lewis realizes that Mildred was right all along about letting go of the past and moving to the future; We go from Goob just wanting to ruin Lewis’ life to DOR-15 creating a bunch of clones and taking over the world; I’m surprised that in their scheming that Goob and DOR-15 never thought to kill Lewis and change the future that way; That has to be the most anticlimactic ending to a villain in any Disney film; It’s funny how past Lewis dictates to Wilbur like he does knowing that he’s his father; So obviously this universe is set up that if your past self meets your future self, it doesn’t cause any disturbances in the space-time continuum; Of course Carl would try and ask Lewis to change his design while he’s there; Lucille clearly establishing she’s the dominant one in the relationship; We come full circle as we see the opening scene play out again and we learn that it was Lewis that distracted his mom briefly and also knocked on the door; Wilbur seems like the kind of person that would go back in time repeatedly to make sure Lewis stayed on the right path; Lewis had enough sense to make sure that Goob would win the game for his team and change his future as well; Everyone builds a barricade and prepares for the worst; So since Lewis met their future selves, do their past selves now have knowledge about this?; Lewis remembers that Franny is always right and gets on her good side; So their home was once an observatory; We see the early model of Carl on the ground; “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” – Walt Disney.

Overall Thoughts: Overall, this was a fairly decent film and easily better than the last two films I watched, but this was still not that great and was on par with a few of the other films from this decade. It is really sad that the quality of these films have severely declined over the last decade because I have really wanted to like these films having never watched them before, but while these films were not expected to live up to the expectations of the previous films they have not even lived up to my most basic expectations. The 2000s have been a tough time for Disney as they were growing in other aspects, but the animation studio was in a real slump and hopefully they would be able to pull out of it at the end of the decade. As for this film, it is a fairly average film that falls in line with the rest of the films from this decade.

Lazy Days Info Dump pt. 2

You read the title. Let's do this.

SO. I've been brainstorming ideas for the others characters within this AU, as in, the other Robinsons. These will just be little character bios, and these were made recently. So everything you see here is subject to change!

Lucille Still as lively as ever! When she's not baking or sewing, she's swimming in her family's pool. She tries to stay positive after the death of her husband, Bud... and that meant going to grief counseling.

Gaston A streamer/online personality. He started off by playing FPS games, but nowadays he's interested in the likes of indie games, especially indie horror. Yes... the other Robinsons have appeared in his videos on occasion. Like that one time Neil and Gaston made a "gingerbread house."

Art An intergalactic bounty hunter alah Celeste from HuniePop. It's from this job he met Lefty, and rescued her from danger. He's often away from the family for weeks at a time, but he makes sure to bring home cool alien artifacts for the kiddos for when he returns.

Fritz He makes OOAKs with old play line fashion dolls. He has the whole shebang... the 3D printer for more complex projects, the matte varnish, the sewing patterns, clumps of doll hair, a rooting tool, etc. He posts his creations online.

Petunia Not a puppet! She is still very much alive. Her first husband wound up in prison. He can rot in there for all she cares, because Fritz is a better man. He supported her dream of becoming a lawyer.

Tallulah A world famous model for a high end lounge, lingerie, and sleepwear brand. Her personality is inspired by Ashley's from HuniePop 2. Very chill and laid-back. Also the type to ask fucked up questions.

Laszlo Due to trauma from his past he'd rather not talk about, he's very intertwined with the internet aesthetic known as "Traumacore." This reflects in his digital art, using pastels and cute character designs mixed with dark and disturbing imagery. It's a coping/comfort mechanism for him. He's working on a graphic novel with this style.

Joe After undergoing bariactric surgery, he's taking his personal health a lot more seriously. His positive attitude online and drive to become a better him has landed him multiple brand deals.

Billie The hands on type. The type of girl to get her hands dirty building and painting model trains. She collects vintage and newer toy trains and displays them proudly on her shelf. Well, multiple shelves, actually.

Carl Built with a more cozy, humanoid appearance, he's the family's right hand robot. He's programmed with thousands of ways to enhance the family's daily lives, as well as advanced hardware to make him a truly intelligent AI.

Lefty The maid of the household. Her home planet was a desolate ocean, where a rogue group reined supreme. Now that she's on this exciting, new environment, she eagerly looks at everything with an intense curiosity.

Doris The butler. She's got some sass to her, I'll say that... She's got the same hardware that Carl has, so her developing her own personality was nothing to write about for Neil.

Spike and Dmitri Alien twins who were also rescued from one of Art's missions. They were never given names on their home planet, so the family gave them names. For some reason, they spend most of their day in the garden... sitting in flower pots. Maybe it's because their home planet was very lush? Who knows...

Are all the Robinsons experimental hybrids (Like each a different animal) or just Cornelius? Regardless, cool!

Funny you ask this, because I was thinking about having most (if not all) of the Robinsons be twisted abominations from my brain. I'm still thinking about this from a game perspective, so I think each Robinson would be a boss fight.

I also think they would draw inspiration from different creepy crawlies and generally "scary" or "gross" animals that I think are cute, but regardless... Here are my ideas for a couple of Abomisons off the top of my dome: Franny - Frogs (F1Y-TR4P) Her ward would be the incubation ward. After Neil "births" the new Dor-15, they're immediately instructed by Franny to come to her ward of the main production plant. It's in this ward where they incubate for longer (going from baby to juvenile), and Franny protects them... by using her special long, clawed tongue and unhinged jaw. Just like a true predator, she digests her prey. Which could've been human...

Spike and Dmitri - Centipedes/Worms (C3NT1-P3DE) Since we never see what Spike and Dmitri's bodies look like, here's what they look like: Their body is long and segmented, with legs on each segment, like a centipede. On top are their heads, which constantly fight over control of the body. Their job is to guard the underground catacombs. They'd be the first boss of the game, I feel. Because the journey would probably start by Wilbur and Carl figuring the best option was to go underground.

Laszlo - Bats (S1-LENCE) He keeps his section of the plant quiet. Because his ears are hypersensitive to any and all sounds within a 50 km radius, and that means his section of the game would be purely stealth and noise reduction-type gameplay. Laszlo hangs upside down in the shadows of the ceiling, wrapped in his wings of mangled skin from his own limbs, waiting for intruders.

You're on an island. You have the au Robinsons with you. They have one water bottle, two crackers and a pocket knife per person. Who's doing what? Who's most likely to die? (Lazy Days)

Right off the bat I can tell you who's most likely to die: Laszlo. Crippling anxiety disorders in combination with PTSD and Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome would literally leave him unable to function in that kind of environment. Kinda like Sarah from the Walking Dead Season 2 (the game).

As for who's doin' what: Neil - Using that pocket knife to make tools so he can build shit. Obviously. Franny - She has a passive knowledge of certain plants and animals, so she'd most likely help with gathering. Wilbur, Freddie, Mazie, and Leo - Nothing much. Wilbur and Freddie might help out occasionally because they're the eldest, but other than that they're not really helping. They're kids. Lucille - She's able to swim, so she'd hunt for stuff in the ocean. She'd also gather water. Fritz - Would help Neil with building stuff, since all the skills he's gained from making OOAKs would be useful. Petunia - Hunting Gertrude style from "I Hate Fairyland." Laszlo - Again, nothing much. His disabilities would cause his body to shut down. Tallulah - Gathering supplies with others. She's not happy about it. Joe - He'd use the strength he's built up from working out to gather heavy stuff, like trees for building. Billie - Probably helping Neil and Fritz. Her mechanical know how from working on trains helps a lot. Art - Terrain prep. Archeology makes you an excellent digger. Gaston - Reluctantly helping with gathering. When he said, "I need to touch grass," he didn't mean literally. Spike and Dmitri - Their home planet was similar to Earth tropical islands, so they have some know-how when it comes to getting a feel for the land. Lefty - She'd be body guarding within the ocean. On her home planet, she was a leviathan class predator. If you need help picturing what she looks and sounds like - The Ghost Leviathan from Subnautica is where I took inspo. Yeah, no one's gonna fuck with her. Carl - In charge of food prep and inspection. Make sure there's no parasites or whatever. The Doris - On land body guarding/help signaling. They're built for defense.

I went off the assumption that the island is fairly large with a sustainable ecosystem. I'd say the Lazy Robinsons got a fair shot here.

Long Post Incoming

Okay so I just watched @what-is-my-aesthetic's new video where she ranked Halloween specials, and that got me thinking about some Meet the Robinsons horror ideas.

Let's be honest with ourselves here: MEET THE ROBINSONS SHOULD'VE GOT A TV SHOW SPIN OFF FROM THE MOVIE. It was literally the perfect formula for an interesting series and we were ROBBED. Honestly if Disney doesn't make it into a cartoon in the near future I will be boycotting. JUSTICE FOR MEET THE ROBINSONS!

So anyway I'm imagining three ideas for horror Meet the Robinsons stuff. 1. The TV Special. Basically I'm imagining an episode that could go two ways. A situation similar to Flutterbat from MLP, where an invention goes haywire and it turns Cornelius into... something. I'm leaning more towards a bat creature because the image of him hanging upside down from a tree spitting out seeds is funny to me. Or, it could be an episode where it takes place from an alternate reality, where everyone in the Robinson family are just monsters. Wilbur could be like Frankie from Monster High, the idea that he was created because Cornelius and Franny wanted a child. So they made one! 2. The Creepypasta. This idea leans more towards creepypasta territory, like it wouldn't be airing on the Disney Channel, lol. What inspired me to create this reality is that in the movie, Wilbur mentions a "dark day at the Robinson house" when discussing what's left of the first prototype of the time machine. What if that day was fatal? What if when the prototype malfunctioned and exploded, it took the whole family with it, and burned down the house? Now that the house has been rebuilt and renovated, a new family moved into it, stating that it's perfect for their family, yada yada. But something isn't right. I've been watching too much of "My Haunted House" from Discovery+, so this next part is influenced by the countless stories I've seen from there. Cornelius - a by extension the other Robinsons, but mostly Neil - starts tormenting the new family. One of the family members get the worst of the worst, as they're in a weird dream-like state. The other members of the family always find them "talking" to a wall in the house and not responding to their calls. Okay so I've been OBSESSED with this old horror game I found out about a little while ago called "White Day: A Labyrinth Named School." Basically in that game there are a lot of ghosts that you can encounter and learn about, twenty in total I think. The way I see this working is that characters from Meet the Robinsons all attended this school at some point, but now they're all dead by one way or another. For example, Lizzy could be the Spider Girl, Lewis can be the Kid Solving a Problem (a.k.a. the Eyeless Spirit), Spike and Dmitri could be the Doppelganger Ghost, Bud could be the Tree Ghost, Michael/Goob could be the Face Filled with Hatred, etc... I understand this is an AU sort of idea, but I still think it's fun to discuss!

So yeah since it's around Halloween time, I've been thinking about this stuff and I wanna know what other people think. :P Or if you have anything to add, I'm open for discussions via asks or comments or whatever. Thank you for listening to my brain dump, lol.
