Into the Earth (Hyunjin, weird and spicy)
Hyunjin x f!reader
multi-chapter fic
AU
happens a few years in the future
Hyunjin is in his post-idol era. Working as an artist and fashion icon.
Warnings: mentions of scamming, dishonesty, abusive people and various kinds of abuse, parasites (and not the Bong Joon Ho clever kind), misogyny (but not Hyunjin!), ageism. Nudity (Hyunjin). More to be added with later chapters.
Special appearance by Donatella Versace (for this chapter)
This is in no way meant as a commentary on the real persons depicted here. They all deserve the world.
Please be kind.
Please do not report this post. If it's not your thing, just scroll away.
If you're underage, please scroll on, there is nothing for you here.
If you enjoy this story and are reading along, I would love to hear your comments in the replies, reblogs or DMs - however you feel most comfortable.
Like I mentioned, this story is finished, but I will slightly change its course based on the way the chapters are received.
Story title is inspired by a Lorna Shore song Part 4
Part 5 - Not a man, THE man
Running a bio and vegan farm is intense work and requires a lot of responsibility, but you don’t let that take you away completely from what you love the most: working alongside the others under the sun, among the trees or in the fields.
Since everything is kept small scale and closely-knit, you fly under the radar of malicious people who want to see you fail, like the local mafia who would love to take a cut of your profits or destroy your crops, but lose all interest when they see the EU-funding signs and learn that your operation is entirely vegan. This was one of the things Hyunjin thought he would need ages to get used to, but actually went over without a hitch. Back in Korea, he’s eaten everything that walks on the ground, swims in the sea and flies in the air, bar hovercraft, submarine and plane. However, now, even when he has to choose what to do for his lunches, he will often stay at the farm and make some stuffed courgette flowers or pasta. He uses his YouTube shorts for inspiration and he gets by, cooking with what he has on hand, which are the excellent and fresh ingredients that come either from the farm’s harvests or from the local market. Sometimes, it’s his turn to drive the big truck to the market and buy ingredients for the week’s meals or pick up packaging from the delivery point. The farm receives regular shipments of Crowdfarming-branded packaging and various promotional prints like leaflets and stickers that the end consumers get along their order of fresh fruit and veg. The truck radio only plays two radio stations and it’s not set to connect with Spotify. One of the radio stations is called Songs of Praise and only plays religious music, mostly with latin lyrics, and that scared the shit out of Hyunjin when he first switched the car radio on. The other station is somewhat more tolerable, as it’s a local station with normal things like news and the weather, but it also has a music database of only a handful of songs from the early 2000s and earlier, from before Hyunjin came into this world. So he’s now really familiar with Ms Jackson and Hey Ya! by Outkast, Word Up! by Korn or Get Ur Freak On by Missy Elliott. But he also heard Horny by Mousse T and Fred come to bed by E-Rotic, wondering how the hell the world fared allowing such explicit stuff in songs and why the fun stopped around the time he was born. On such mornings, he likes to drive with the windows rolled all the way up, so he can sing along without a care in the world. He sings on the way to the market, carelessly, almost desperately, until he’s out of breath, because the thought of interacting with the people at the market or at the CrowdFarming pick-up point has him shaking in his shoes and his hands sweating on the steering wheel. But he does it, because the farm and you rely on him to do so. And since the truck is so big, and the steering wheel is bigger than anything Hyunjin has seen in any vehicle he’s driven before, he feels like he’s on top of the world and is the tallest man with the biggest dick to ever exist. At least for the duration of the drive.
Summer goes by with little interruption. Donatella video calls one day, in the afternoon. She’s on a boat, partying with young models and famous actors, and she screams in shock when she sees Hyunjin, with his dusty trucker hat, his tan, his curled into tight waves hair and his moustache. “My babyyyy! What have they done to you, you look like-a my gardener!” She cries. Hyunjin shrugs and laughs, throwing his head back. “I had a revelation. And now I do work, sort of, as a gardener.” “Where are you, precious boy? I come to save you.” “No, no, I’m happy, Dona. Look-” Hyunjin says, standing up and lifting his shirt, revealing his much more solid physique and his very sculpted, but juicy looking abs.
A sharp gasp can be heard from the Versace queen. “Dio, that is so hot. Will you do my lingerie campaign in the winter? I fly you over.” “Yes, of course. I am yours before anyone else’s when it comes to fashion.” “But-a you are getting rid of the moustache, no?” “Why? The men envy it. The women love it. I love it the most. I finally look like a man. Pretending I was a porcelain doll was nice while it lasted, but it’s not illegal to like being a guy, so-” “Ha… the more I see it, the more I like. Is your happiness that sells it to me.” Donatella admits. “And those abs will look so good in my itty-bitty men’s underwear. Listen, do you want me to send you a care package? Some nice jockstraps, silk robes, monogram towels, bags and-” She stops talking when Hyunjin picks up the phone from its stand and spins it around, showing her the orchard and the fields. She sees Nube running through the grass towards Hyunjin, sometimes disappearing from view only to reappear on the next leap. In the distance, there are crows fighting over some fallen walnuts near a walnut tree. “Does this look like the kind of place where jockstraps are a good idea?” Hyunjin says. “Thank you with all my heart, but I have everything I need.” “You look like you do, my sweet boy. I miss you until later. I love you, take care!” “You too, tesoro.”
“Oh stop it, charmer.” “But it’s true. I love you too.” Donatella sighs blissfully but ends the call. Hyunjin chooses to believe Donatella has just as easy a time maintaining a working friendship with him as he does with her. A part of him knows that she is not made of stone and that, like everyone who’s met him in his idol days, she would love to have him in other ways than over for a visit at her Palazzo. Still, he always felt safe with her. She does feel more protective of him and that sense of protectiveness overrides her thirst. She’s often provided him with a security detail when the company back home refused to and whenever he has to work with her, he feels fully appreciated and wanted there. This is one of the perks of being a farm hand in the middle of nowhere, Spain. He no longer feels like he walks into the heart of a pack of hungry wolves every time he shows up somewhere. He’s no longer stepping out with fear in his heart, wondering where the next threat will come from. Part 6

Unpopular but True Opinion
Nobody likes hearing these things these days, but I believe there are still women out there who will see this as an opportunity to recognize and correct themselves, so here goes.
Some of you ladies out there stating that you are looking for a good man, and seeking a healthy long term relationship with a responsible leader who knows how to take charge, are unfortunately putting out signals which is driving away those same good men, and keeping you from achieving what you wish to make your own. Here are some of the most common ones.
Inconsistency
Just like you do not like inconsistency on part of a man, a good man also does not appreciate inconsistency. It is quite plainly visible to us (older, mature) men which women are actuallly busy or have a legitimate reason for being away for gaps of time, and which ones are merely playing a game. Texting rapidly and frequency for one or two days and then going off the radar with no clear communication is not the way to build up a "getting to know each other" phase of a connection. Such behaviors will make you appear as emotionally immature at best, and "attention seeking when bored" at worst - neither of them an image you want to create before a good man.
Unclear priorities
Stating that you wish to find a good relationship, and then going about your day to day prioritizing everything else but that in your life, is akin to wanting to be a millionaire but putting in none of the ethic and effort that goes into that achievement. You may have very legitimate reasons for considering your career, your next promotion, your friends, your "social detox weekend" as extremely important - and I am sure some of these truly are. But if you consistently put these ahead and over a growing connection with a good man, he will rightfully interpret that maybe building a relationship is actually pretty low down in your priorities, no matter what your words claim.
Online flirting
This one is for you social media butterflies - be it Tumblr / Instagram / ... Look, there is nothing wrong in sharing a couple beautiful pictures of yourself, or a few spicy posts from your favorite smut blogger. Its fun, its exciting - we get it. But if what you are putting out there are provocative pictures of yourself with tell-tale captions like "who wants to make me his toy" or "I need your hands around my throat", dont expect a good man to take you seriously. If all your feed does is send out an invitation for cheapness, that is exactly what you will be seen as - someone who will put out for just about anybody - and there is no reason to believe you arent playing this flirting game with 10 other boys in your inbox. There is nothing special about that, and a good man will not stay or stand for this.
Pettiness of Prettiness
Harsh as it might sound, today we have entered an era where an unfortunate number of women (even young girls) are being told that if you are pretty and attractive, you can have anything. Of course, there are plenty of boys who will simp over looks, which reinforces this sense of entitlement in young ladies, as well as makes it fun and validating. But, this is not the kind of behavior that attracts and keeps a good man. A pretty face and a beautiful physique is tantamount to having a crisp resume and a cover letter in fancy font for a job - it will get you an interview, but if you have nothing else to show beyond this, you will not get much further. Believe me when we say this, older successful men (in their 30s or 40s) are neither phased nor impressed by prettiness, it accounts for less than 10% of the reasons why we would actually choose someone to invest in.
In summary,
the catch of wanting to be with an emotionally mature, stable, good man is that you will also have to deserve to be with him. He is going to push you to upgarde your own standards and hold you accountable for your own actions to be worthy of that (potential) relationship. And if you dont have it in you, if you want the shortcut, a good man will not hestiate to move on with a kind & condescending word.

hi mimi, can you reading about aespa's upcoming comeback? it will be successfull?
Aespa's comeback
4 of Pentacles, 9 of Pentacles rev, Knight of Pentacles, Page of Wands, Strength.
Ok I dunno why but the first word I got was boycott?? So maybe something happens which may lead fans wanting to boycott or something? I also got "stingy" so maybe they won't have as impressive sales or notoriety as "Drama" did. With the 9oPrev, perhaps money wasn't properly used for the album? Like fans could say "oh why didn't they promote X song" or something like that. I just feel like money plays a big roll here. They'll be putting in tons of effort, I feel like SM may really push aespa into the western market (maybe a collab or something) or have them release an English song, something like that. Also Strength could be about their choreo or just about their overall work ethic. Like in Spicy era when aespa slept for less than 5 hours a week.

Mindmix still don’t know how to promote groups outside of music shows… Fun!!!
Sanghee didn’t promote with the girls because of her participation on Shooting Stars
Nonetheless she was very involved from the sidelines reposting them on her insta story and such !!
This song n concept was very loved!!
Behind the scenes was an actual nightmare like all the girls were beefing then they made up just to trash on Cloe 2gether then they were all beefing again
Sanghee had MANY credits on this album 🥹💗
Besides Sanghee, Lisha and Cloe also have writing credits on the album!!
Strong first comeback tbh they got themselves some wins and some new drama…the dorms were too calm during debut era Mindmix needed to add Abbie for the drama yk

[ SOCIAL SUICIDE DISCOGRAPHY — through the years . ]
SOCIAL SUICIDE made their debut on november 23, 2018 with the release of their debut ep LUXURY GOODS and debut single HOBGOBLIN . to give the group more exposure , the lineup consisted of popular doellette models nana and bae , as well as former blacklisted member prim . this would prove to be detrimental , however , as the release of their debut album would be met with backlash from the general public due to the majority of members’ lack of talent .
their first comeback would be a full year after luxury goods’ release , on december 13 , 2019 , with the addition of member aaliyah to try and combat backlash . the album , RESONANCE , fell short in terms of performance , struggling to surpass 50 , 000 sales even despite the new member .
come the new year , doellette was desperate to make social suicide relevant , and thus started the RETROBUTION promotions – namely , a series of scandals and controversy to garner attentions to the girls . once public outrage reached it’s peak , the girls dropped the album and title track GET LOST . unsurprisingly , the album was met with a lot of backlash and was even boycotted by fans .
three months later , after the outrage had died down a little , came THE REVIVAL – an album that saw surprising success and is known by socialites as social suicide’s rebranding era . the absence of aaliyah was noted until her official departure was announced a week after it’s release . TOTAL SAVAGE had experimental music lovers rushing to defend the song on twitter , and overall the album was ‘ so bad it's good ’ .
following the trend of the revival , and seeking to expand to an international fanbase , came the release of their english debut single MASCARA . at this point the group was beginning to become more popular , and it could also be noted that members where having more creative freedom and being credited on their songs ; namely prim .
only a month after their english single the girls dropped ALL EXCUSIVE , a song which saw their popularity sky rocket . the song was played everywhere , and every third video on people’s for you pages of social suicide doing the 2 SPICY 4 U trend with other idols . the album even amassed more than 350 , 000 sales within the first 24 hours .
GIRL GANG was their first full length album to be released , and while their most popular , also their most divided . prim was catching heat for how cringy the lyrics of MY BAG supposedly were , and socialites were fighting for their lives to defend it . regardless , girl gang won album of the year .
the release of the single PINK VENOM was met with even more disdain from non - fans , but also was one of their most popular tracks to date , amassing 12 music show wins as well as reaching their billboard hot 100 . the girls were growing more and more popular with each passing release , with nana stating their music was for ‘ the girls who get it ’ .
after the release pink venom came their first english mini album SWEET DREAMS . while falling under the radar compared to previous releases , SHOOTING STARS still managed to peak at #8 on music charts .
DELUXE EDITION was the repackaging of the revival , with three new additional tracks including the track LIKE A TANK , to celebrate three years since the album’s release – although none of the new songs were promoted , only having been performed at the anniversary showcase .
their most recent album RENAISSANCE , released in september 2023 , was their second studio album . teased with the pre - single DRAMATIC , the album was nominated at mama for album of the year ; although they did not win . LEGACY , however , amassed 15 music show wins and won song of the year at the melon music awards .

ERA HIGHLIGHTS !
♡ While it wasn’t her usual music style, fans fell in love with the fun party concept.
♡ Online forums were flooded with theories on how the upbeat track fit into her overarching lore. They concluded it was a dream that alluded to her missing the former members of Prism.
♡ Kadie loved being able to have fun with a song. It was a nice break from her normal pace and allowed her to have more fun on stage.
♡ Both songs were written and produced by Kadie.
♡ She did lots of vlogs. Anywhere from her just driving around and talking to the camera, to her getting ready for a music show; she documented it all. She was trying her best to show herself to the world as she was also preparing for Shooting Stars at the time.
♡ Baekhyun came to congratulate her during one of her encore stages. She was also sent flowers by Seulgi.
♡ Kadie had a lot of interactions with fellow idols. She participated in any dance challenge she could, and even started one with her song. The most viewed challenge is Kadie and Karina performing both Queencard and Spicy challenges.
♡ Overall, this release was a great comeback for her. She brought in many new fans with her sound experiment.

Watched the Consumerist Dystopia of Harry Potter video
It’s a real eye opener about how shopping and product placement was the driving force behind the franchise, right from the moment the first book was published. In the video, Gandalf never buys a Staff, he earns it, same with Luke Skywalker, who earned his lightsaber. When companies was trying to promote The Hunger Games: Catching Fire film, they were criticised for being tone deaf (Make-up blogs on “Achieving the District look” and Subway’s foot-long spicy subs) as The Hunger Games is about society as a whole: you have the Elite (The Capitol) and then there’s the poor (The Districts). In fact, the closest thing we have to Panem in real life is North Korea, with elements of the Soviet Union and East Germany mixed in. The Capitol residents are dressed in futuristic style while the furthest era the Districts wear is the 1960′s, which in the films, is worn by District 8; Katniss and Prim in the books, wear dresses that are straight out of the Great Depression. The video also noted that “We have enough Harry Potter merchandise”. In fact, since I was five years old Harry Potter was everywhere. If my series ever take off, I will make sure the merchandise is restricted to things like keyrings and stationary. Since I became aware of environmental destruction in 2020, I vowed that if my series take off, it will have very little merchandise; in fact, I will actively encourage that people make their own plush, costumes etc instead, a theme prevalent in the stories. In “Hyperfast Fashion”, for example, Xanthe makes her iconic gold-and-silver dress instead of buying a dress from a Fast Fashion brand, while in “The Red Lady of Silverton” Flora’s Halloween costume is handmade; Matisha, Janey, Amber and Harold’s costumes are made using everyday clothing.

National Hot Sauce Day
Tingle your tastebuds with this spicy condiment, sample sauces from all over the world or challenge your friends to try the hotter varieties.
Are you more of a Tabasco person, or are the spicy chili peppers of Southeast Asia the ones that get your mouth watering? Should hotness be combined with salty flavors or rather sweet ones? Whatever you believe and whatever your preferences, if you are one of those people who feels that “spicy” is never quite spicy enough, National Hot Sauce Day is the perfect day for you!
History of National Hot Sauce Day
Humans started using chili peppers and other such spices thousands of years ago, with many historians believing that chili peppers were one of the earliest plants harvested by humans. Back in this era, historians believe the recipe was a simple mixture of peppers and water mixed into a liquid or thick paste.
In South and Central America, there is evidence of chili peppers being used for cooking as early as 6,000 years ago, but they did not reach Europe until the 16th century when Portuguese and Spanish explorers began sending all sorts of unusual foods from the New World back home.
The first hot sauce to be available in a bottle appeared in shops in the state of Massachusetts in the year 1807, and then suddenly, hot sauce was everywhere and being added to everything. Tabasco sauce is one of the earliest brands to have come into existence that still exists today, being bottled and sold for the first time in 1868.
Today’s recipes contain a wide variety of peppers, and many food enthusiasts argue passionately about which pepper makes the best sauce. Some of the most commonly used peppers are jalapeños, reapers, Thai chilies, cayenne peppers, serranos, and ghost peppers. The hottest pepper in the world is often considered to be the Carolina Reaper, with a Scoville rating of 2,000,000 (the average jalapeno pepper ranking at only 3,500 Scoville Heat Units)!
National Hot Sauce Day Timeline
1492
Explorers to the New World experience chiles
It is believed that Christopher Columbus may be one of the first explorers from Europe to taste chiles. He names them “peppers” because of their spicy flavor that is similar to the black peppercorns he was looking for.
1807
Hot Sauce first appears in America
In the north eastern state of Massachusetts, newspaper advertisements show that hot sauce appears on the market around this time and is sold as “cayenne sauce”.
1868
Tabasco Pepper Sauce is first created
Edmund McIlhenny feels that the diet of southerners in the US is a bit bland, so he plants a crop of commercial peppers and creates his classic Tabasco pepper hot sauce.
1964
Buffalo Wings are invented
One of the quintessential carriers for spicy, peppery sauce, Buffalo Wings take shape in Buffalo, New York when a restaurant owner makes a late night snack for her son and his friends. The restaurant owner’s son and the hot sauce supplier later go on the road together, promoting the use of hot sauce on fried chicken wings.
1980
Sriracha Sauce hits the market
A refugee from Vietnam, David Tran, starts a company in California and names his hot sauce after a city in Thailand: Sri Racha. The sauce contains not only chili peppers but also other ingredients such as garlic and sugar. The hot sauce becomes almost an instant hit.
An Important Distinction
While a real hot sauce lover will know the answer to this question immediately, you may not. Is hot sauce and sriracha the same thing? Many recipes use them interchangeably, but to be a spicy food fan, it is important to know the difference!
Hot sauce and sriracha, while being used in the same way, are usually not considered to be the same thing. The most noticeable difference between the two is the texture, with the hot sauce being more of a liquid and sriracha being a thicker paste. However, there are more subtle differences that separate the two.
According to most chefs, the flavor profiles are distinct from each other, with sriracha containing additions of sugars and garlic, while also being less spicy in many ways. However, even with its differences, many still agree that you can enjoy sriracha in the same ways.
How to Celebrate National Hot Sauce Day
Tongue-burning food-lovers unite! National Hot Sauce Day is the perfect excuse to enjoy the feeling of fire in your mouth all day long. The best way to celebrate this smoking hot holiday is to get together with like-minded people who aren’t afraid of a little spice. Spend the afternoon sampling different hot sauces from all over the world.
According to a survey in 2014, the world’s ten best hot sauces are:
10. Valentina Salsa Picante: This sweet and sour hot sauce has a citrusy tang to it. Made in Mexico, this sauce is sure to add a kick to your meal.
9. Texas Pete: This sauce was made by accident at a little family-run restaurant in 1929 and is a bit weaker than most Louisiana-style sauces. Most commonly seen in American restaurants alongside Tabasco, Texas Pete is a staple.
8. Tabasco: This is a classic, there’s no doubt about it. It contains more vinegar than other hot sauces tend to, adding a punchy kick full of flavor for any meal.
7. Tapatio: This hot sauce is also a bit sweet, with a distinct garlicky flavor. Tapatio is often enjoyed in Bloody Mary drinks as well.
6. Louisiana Hot Sauce Original: This is Louisiana’s number one hot sauce, and we all know those Cajuns know a thing or two about spice.
5. Huy Fong Chili Garlic: Long story short, this stuff is thick, hot, garlicky, and delicious.
4. Frank’s Red Hot: This is the main ingredient in buffalo wing sauce. ‘Nuff said.
3. Crystal: People from Louisiana (yes, Louisiana again) swear by this stuff.
2. Cholula: This delightfully hot Mexican sauce is made from pequin peppers that are 7 times hotter than jalapenos.
1. Huy Fong Sriracha: It’s no wonder the fame of this sauce reaches far and wide. It’s spicy, salty, and seems to go well with almost everything. This is definitely a favorite the world over.
For the avid hot sauce lover in your life, consider a gift they’ll never forget, a hot sauce sampler gift. These contain a variety of themed or regular hot sauce bottles from around the world. For the most daring of taste testers, grab a few friends, and try out the Hot Sauce Pain Challenge: a set that ranges in levels from mild to severe heat. For those who are craftier, consider buying a hot sauce-making kit, a perfect family or friend activity that results in a delicious and spicy outcome.
So, what are you waiting for? Get a few friends together, buy lots of milk to wash these sauces down, and let the sampling begin! And if you’re feeling guilty about doing this to your poor stomach: don’t. Spicy foods fight bacteria and can help speed up your metabolism, so if you only do this every now and then, think of it as doing your body a favor.

top five *and* bottom five historical eras
top five:
01. filthy victorians; they made me what i'm made of!
is it cheating to count the gilded age separately, or is it cheating to list them as the same? i genuinely cannot decide. either way, here it is, awkwardly sandwiched with the victorians, as always.
02. ancient israel, especially the period leading right up to and spanning the jewish-roman wars. three-hour long historical epic about simon bar kokhba when.
03. american revolution. i can't help it; my father celebrated the fourth of july bigger than christmas. i've come to accept that there is a part of me that will always have a little starry-eyed wonder for The American Experiment.
04. the mughal era. flashy the white queen-style miniseries about the war of succession between aurangzeb and dara shikoh WHEN!
05. late 1950s/early 1960s u.s. but, like, the spicy youth culture edition as depicted in the documentaries rebel without a cause, the outsiders, and west side story.
honorable mentions: belle époque (i know. i know i have, like, three different versions of the long nineteenth century on this list. it will happen again); The Period Formerly Known As The Dark Ages; the weimar republic; the "wild west."
bottom five:
01. antebellum southern U.S. i cannot with the way people aestheticize this period and pretend that doing so is harmless, or worse, Their Culture, and i wish everyone who's ever had a plantation wedding a very die.
02. ancient rome. it's just never been terribly interesting to me. best i can do is sit through the donmar warehouse's coriolanus.
03. the regency. bridgerton is overrated, jane austen is overrated, i hate your clothes, and you all are the reason why the victorians felt the need to cover up table legs lest they promote impure thoughts*.
04. the 15th century, not for any particular personal dislike, and it's where my man R3 hails from, so the love is there, but i always feel like everything that happened in the 15th century is either way too late or way too recent for my comfort. i don't like how few years, relatively speaking, are between geoffrey chaucer and joan of arc, or between richard iii and henry viii. the hollow crown really fucked me up.
05. I SWEAR TO GOD IF THE ZOOMERS KEEP TRYING TO BRING BACK Y2K
*that is a joke and a myth. in fairness, the stories about regency women dampening their dresses so they clung better might be a myth, too. but still.

Changes in NCT
Well, haven't we got an unexpected hale.
First of all, the change of initial plans is evidently very recent because NCT Tokyo was promised in all plan releases in 2023. And, if I'm not mistaken, "Welcome to NCT Universe" show was sold to more streaming channels this year?
It seems, there was a considerable re-evaluation in how to launch and promote the Japanese NCT unit.
The reasons of moving Shotaro, Sungchan, Seunghan, Eungseok to the new boy group that seem to me to be the most logical are: a) the opportunity to debut them earlier, b) the three of them are Korean (and the new unit should have more Japanese), c) they don't fit the newly developed "regional" concept or other pre-selected members (I'm joking, but too tall? heh).
It's been 2,5 years since SungTaro debuted in NCT, their solo fans are at the end of their patience and interest. And, of course, for the idols themselves the wait is very difficult. Most will choose a solid offer right now than wait however many months or years of uncertainty more. As Shotaro trained with the other three a lot, became kind of a leader (at least in the practice room), learnt Korean, staying with them is the lesser evil. He won't lose all the friends he gained.
The official statement promises (heh) to debut the new bg in 2023. Which is actually not hard to do if SM follows aespa's route (a debut with just a single and not a whole mini).
Personally, I was looking forward to more Shotaro in NCT and to Seunghan-Doyoung interactions. It's also a pity that NCT lore got so many blows to its continuity. So I'm saddened by the news. Evenso, I wouldn't catastrophize and cling to the past. I want to wait and see the two new groups to judge SM's decision and form a final opinion.
It is well possible that the change was made due to the need to form two cohesive groups with even number of talented members, who match each other well. For example, if SM found a strong Japanese rapper, it would be hard for Shotaro to be the centre, he would be only a dancer. And Shotaro on the side won't be accepted by his formed fanbase. Or maybe Sungchan had to be moved to the new bg, because he didn't gain enough Japanese fans (I'm speculating, I don't know), and Shotaro didn't want to leave his friend. Maybe Seunghan is such a strong vocalist that he is essential for the new bg's concept. And another strong vocalist is a Japanese, so he goes to the last NCT unit. And so on. We also don't know how will be the new NCT unit promoted in Japan. Maybe the four don't want that future.
It's more important that the guys will really debut and won't follow the fate of the many girl trainees who never made it into aespa or poor Shohei, who was so happy when he was revealed as a Rookie, but his dreams crushed with his health issues.
The new gg was supposed to debut in 2Q, but now the debut was moved to 4Q. The 3.0 system (the branches, the teams) are in the process of being formed, so there are a lot of internal issues still, everything is getting postponed. The era of LSM ended. It is expected, that a lot of projects and plans that were started in the past won't make it into the new reality (NCT Hollywood, cough, cough).
On the brighter side of things. An SM choreographer posted a picture with him and SungTaro in their support. Taeyong releases an album that is really based on his wishes and vision. SM promised to support Shohei solo activities, so he hasn't been just tossed aside. Doyoung called Chris Lee as "hyung". BoA has a tv programme. aespa girls got their IGs only after 3 years (i.e they are now trusted with socmed). Karina chose the title track "Spicy" (from the roaster of SM unreleased songs she heard in the past). Red Velvet will tour Europe. All in all, the support of the artists seems to be in place. Regardless of the inner turmoils and business decisions, the things gradually become better.

satiating my craving for bts-related questions part 3/5
what bts member’s personality is the most like yours? This was in the most recent ‘survey’ I took but Namjoon! Besides our social batteries being pretty much infinite and our mutual love for museums, we’re also similar in that we’re both leaders on paper but are actually pretty clumsy and irresponsible in all non-work situtions hahahaha.
which bts member do you think you’d click with & are most likely to be best friends with? Jimin. I feel like he’s the most easygoing of the boys and can strike a bond with anybody.
in what moment did you know you were in this bangtan sonyeondan shit for life? Also covered this in the last survey, but it in April ‘21 when I heard Life Goes On. Funnily enough I was in the middle of work then and ended up crying while working on whatever spreadsheet I had at the time because the lyrics unexpectedly punched me in the face (in the warmest and most comforting way possible).
what do you think is bts’ best era or mv? I wanna say Wings, only because it had been their biggest Korean breakthrough and was the time they came out with BST and Spring Day and started to really launch towards the mainstream.
The Love Yourself era was also obviously a fantastic era that opened so many doors for them since that’s when they started getting invited to US award shows and had their songs played on US radio; but it also meant that Namjoon had to constantly serve as the mouthpiece of the group – something that affected them in the long run and something they even touched on themselves at the latest Festa dinner.
if you bumped into a bts member on the street, how would you react/what would you do? Jesus. I would run the fuck away and hide. Everyone who knows me knows that I would literally pass up on a meet-and-greet opportunity with them because IDK the thought of meeting them just terrifies me lol. I’d be perfectly content seeing them up close in concert.
which bts member could you realistically see your self dating, & are most compatible romantically? Delulu hours already? Hahaha. I barely know the dudes and they could be completely different human beings off the camera, so idk. The hyung line strikes me as low-maintenance romantic partners though – something I prefer at this point in time.
when did you become an army? It was in early April last year which technically makes me Butter Army. I hate that term though and just refer to myself as a Run BTS Army since that had been their promotion focus at the time I became a fan hahahaha
what is your favorite bts album? MOTS: 7.
if you made an album & make collabs with only three bts members, which three would you choose? Yoongi so he can produce it also and create a banger; Jimin because I need more solos from him; Hobi because artistically speaking I feel he is the most open to experimentation.
top 10 bts songs? Butterfly, Sea, Fake Love, BST, Autumn Leaves, Ma City, Spring Day, Move, Dis-ease, Black Swan.
what food/foods reminds you of jungkook? Ramyeon, pork belly, banana milk.
what food/foods reminds you of taehyung? Napjak mandu, kkomak bibimbap, bungeoppang.
what food/foods reminds you of jimin? Literally anything with chili peppers or buldak sauce on it as the man loves his spicy food.
what food/foods reminds you of namjoon? Funnily enough, mint chocolate anything. Also tteokguk, kalguksu, and Bibimyeon noodles.
what food/foods reminds you of hobi? Croffles, iced coffee.
what food/foods reminds you of yoongi? Steamed dumplings.
what food/foods reminds you of jin? Sashimi, yukhoe, anything seafood. Jin Ramen.
assign a planet to each bts member! I honestly don’t know the planets well enough to designate a member to each.
choose a color for each bts member i.e. what color reminds you of each of them or do you associate with them? I mean my mind automatically just goes to their mic colors? Hahahaha.
besides seoul, what city do you see jungkook thriving in? Maybe somewhere in Japan, like Kyoto. Jungkook strikes me as a pretty big introvert so I feel like he’ll want to be somewhere he can go lowkey. Bon Voyage also repeatedly taught me that he isn’t the type to visit tourist attractions lol and I think Japan can give him all the quiet cafes and pretty Airbnbs he needs.
besides seoul, what city do you see taehyung thriving in? He’s shown time and time again that his soul belongs in places like Paris.
besides seoul, what city do you see jimin thriving in? Lively places with lots of music and spots for drinking...places like Rio de Janeiro, New Orleans, Berlin, London, etc. Los Angeles also.
besides seoul, what city do you see namjoon thriving in? Basel, Amsterdam, New York City. I feel like he would also appreciate Cairo and Marrakesh.
besides seoul, what city do you see hobi thriving in? Hobi is essentially Los Angeles personified. Lots of culture and trendy stuff pumping through his veins haha.
besides seoul, what city do you see yoongi thriving in? Somewhere lowkey, like Jungkook. I see Yoongi spending six months somewhere secluded in like New Zealand just to have the time and space he needs to make new music.
besides seoul, what city do you see jin thriving in? He’s been there already, but I feel like Jin really throve in Valletta, Malta! Being an introvert himself it was great seeing him wander around on his own and be friends with that nice bar owner.
what’s your favorite thing about bts? My reason is pretty selfish, but the fact that they’re Asian gives me a lot of pride and also enables me to relate a lot to them in terms of values, culture, habits, etc. It’s refreshing to stan people who are just as horrified about the idea of using shoes indoors, have the concept of older brothers/siblings, and go through the same bilingual struggles.
did you change after stanning? how? Yeah. Mainly in wanting to live again. I also became happier, more open to meeting new people and trying new things, and less anxious about my problems.
what inspires you about bts? Just knowing all the ugly things they’ve been through and ultimately surpassed.
what’s your bts bias line or trio? Namgikook.
what music genre do your associate with each bts member? Namjoon: Hip-hop, R&B Jin: Pop Yoongi: Rap with a little bit of pop and alternative rock here and there Hobi: Hip-hop Jimin: R&B. Taehyung: Jazz Jungkook: R&B with a little dollop of pop.
what are some of your favorite things about jungkook? The fact that he masters any skill in one or a few tries; and his competitiveness because I can totally relate lol.
what are some of your favorite things about taehyung? He’s real. He’s the realest fucking person there is and that might draw off other people, but I appreciate that he never fakes it for the camera. If he’s upset you’ll know it, if he doesn’t feel like getting interviewed you’ll see it, if fans are being stupid he’ll be the first to call them out.
what are some of your favorite things about jimin? He’s reliable; to me he comes off as a quiet support system for the boys. Never hogs the spotlight, but he’ll be the first to check up on someone if they get injured; visit someone to their own music video shoot, etc. I mean he literally flew to Chicago to support Hobi for Lollapalooza and flew from Paris all the way back to Korea in time to greet Jungkook on his birthday.
what are some of your favorite things about namjoon? He’s a fantastic leader, always learning as he goes all while making sure the other six are growing and learning with him. And he does this considering he’s not even the eldest of the group; it takes a lot of maturity to take the reins at 19 and go beyond being a K-pop idol.
what are some of your favorite things about hobi? The fact that he 1) takes over as a sub-leader for the things Namjoon lacks in; and 2) same as Jimin, he’s also acted like a stable support system for the boys and their endeavors. He’s also unashamedly physically affectionate and clingy, which has been helping break the mindset that men can’t hug each other, lean on each other’s shoulders, etc. OH and he’s a fantastic gift-giver – I can’t ever forget how he made Jimin a physical CD of Promise AND made copies for each of the members.
what are some of your favorite things about yoongi? He keeps it real, like Taehyung, like how he largely refuses to speak English in US interviews or backs out of games he doesn’t want to join in Run BTS. Also the fact that he’s actually caring as fuck but will always make it look like he doesn’t give a shit.
what are some of your favorite things about jin? That behind all the dad jokes and wackiness, he’s actually doing a great job being the eldest – puts the younger ones in place when they start getting too rowdy, and at the end he puts the needs of the younger members first. On In the Soop 1 he took the tent while everyone else slept in beds; and onto bigger things he chose to delay his military service because everyone else wanted to do the Busan show.
what makes you love bts so much? Just the fact that they make me happy and make me want to look forward to the next day.
which pcs have you pulled in your bts albums? & if you’re willing to share, how many albums/pcs do you have? If I did this, I would end up making a short novel lol. I simply have too many albums and have collected too many photocards.
do you have any bt21 merch? if so, what? Yeah, mostly plushies but I’ve also got a BT21 shirt, keychain, and alcospray.
who’s your favorite bt21 character? RJ.
bt21 or tiny tan? BT21.

Diamond Hotel Launches Galleon Trade Filipino Food Festival at Corniche
Diamond Hotel Philippines just launched a unique Filipino Food Festival at the Corniche restaurant that lets guests discover a selection of fascinating dishes from the Galleon Trade era.
From June 26 to July 7, 2024, Corniche transforms into a history and culinary destination as featured chef and culinary heritage advocate Chef Christopher Carangian prepares a Filipino Food Festival buffet that showcases dishes that originated from the 1500s so we can better appreciate our culinary heritage.
The Hungry Kat visited Diamond Hotel Philippines last Wednesday for the launch of the Galleon Trade Filipino Food Festival. This limited-time offering is available for the lunch and dinner buffet at Corniche until July 7 only for P3,880 nett per person.
Chef Christopher Carangian will personally guide diners into the origins of Filipino cuisine. As Founder and President of Razorchef Philippines and Punong Heneral of the Culinary Generals of the Philippines, Chef Carangian’s passion for exploring and reintroducing local, traditional dishes aims to promote the country’s historical identity.
We went to Diamond Hotel Philippines with a few of our foodie friends on the first night of the Galleon Trade Filipino Food Festival. Take a journey to the past and enjoy featured specialties steeped in culinary culture from the era of the Galleon Trade.
Let's start our adventure with the classic Filipino Mechado. This is called mechado or Mocha in Spanish because of the pork fat inserted in the middle of the meat which resembles a dynamite wick. There's also the Negrita which is Bacoor Cavite's version of the Arroz Negro Paella.
Ciento Quince is an almost extinct Chavacano Dish with Ciento Quince Piezas or 115 pieces of chilies added to the dish. Make sure you are ready for this spicy dish.
We are all familiar with the Caldereta which is a slow cooked beef stew that is always rich in flavors. The Filipino Food Festival at Corniche also comes with these traditional dishes that have survived the test of time.
On the other hand, the Menudo Rojo is a Spanish style menudo which is a bit different from the ones we usually see. It comes with a darker sauce but the ingredients are still mostly the same.
The Adobo de los Naturales is a dish that originated all the way back in 1613. This is currently known as dry adobo and is made from a combination of pork and chicken.
Chef Christopher told us about his personal story with the Zapote Chicken BBQ, a Bacooreño heritage grilled chicken dish. This is part of his childhood when they usually ate chicken bbq while watching movies inside the cinemas. Now, he recreates this classic dish as one of his own favorites.
From the year 1529 comes the Potaje de Adobado de Gallina, a chicken dish inspired by the Pipian which originated in Mexico. This recipe was found from Spanish Chef Rupert de Nola's cookbook, El Libro de Cozina, which was published in 1529.
Another dish to be highlighted during the food festival is the Quilauin from 1794, the first Filipino food seen by Antonio Pigafetta and referred to as the First Adobo.
As Filipinos, we must always have rice during our meals, so all of these classic dishes will go well with the Sinaing sa Pandan or white rice served on pandan leaves.
A festive celebration will not be complete without the Lechon, so Corniche makes sure to bring out its own crispy and juicy whole roasted pig for everyone to enjoy.
Guests dining during the Galleon Trade Filipino Food Festival will also be treated to all the international buffet stations that you can always find at Corniche. The centerpiece is this fresh seafood station that comes with crabs, prawns, mussels, salads, and more.
The Japanse Station is always one of my favorites at Corniche, especially with their salmon and tuna sashimi, maki, plus the crunchy tempura.
The Chinese station is also a popular destination with its dimsum selection, noodle station, Lechon Macau, fried rice, and gorgeous Roasted Duck.
You can find other international offerings all around the buffet like the Vietnamese Grilled Chicken Skewer with cucumber and chili sauce, Soy Marinated Salmon with sambal sauce, and the Grilled Marinated Duck Leg with balsamic sauce.
Other notable dishes include the Lamb Cutlets with Honey and Mustard Seed Crust, Braised Beef Cheek Bourguignon, and Spicy Grilled Stuffed Squid with Pork Filling ad Thai Chili Sauce.
You can also find the Certified Angus Beef Chuck Pot Roast at the carving station waiting to be devoured. Ask the server for a few slices and have them seared a little on the grill.
Don't forget about the desserts because Corniche also comes with plenty of Filipino sweets and treats. Start your adventure at the chocolate fountain and dip your favorite fruits and into the chocolate.
You can also find other tempting items such as the Mango Jasmine cake, Green Tea financier, Champorado, Ensaymada de Leche, and Ensaymada de tsokolate.
There are also lots of other sweets including cheesecake, banana chocolate cake, leche flan, ice cream, and a halo-halo station. Diamond Hotel will also recreate the Malolos Congress Dinner of 1898, wherein the proclamation of Philippine Independence was ratified in Bulacan. Savor the best of the original French menu, to be prepared by Chef Carangian, alongside fine wine pairings on July 9, 2024 at the Diamond Ballroom at 7:00pm for P6,800 net per person.
We would like to thank Melanie Samonte and Diamond Hotel Philippines for hosting our Galleon Trade Filipino Food Festival dinner at Corniche. We always have so much fun whenever we visit. Book your tables now!

Unisex Deodorant vs. Traditional Deodorant: What's the Difference?
When it comes to personal care, we're often accustomed to separate products for men and women. However, the rise of unisex deodorants has challenged this traditional approach, offering a more inclusive and inclusive alternative for those who don't identify with gender-specific products.
But what exactly sets unisex deodorants apart from their traditional counterparts?
In In this article, we will cover the key differences between the two types and what to expect from each.
The Truth About Unisex and Traditional Products
Traditional Deodorants: The Classic Approach
Traditional deodorants have been around for decades, designed specifically for men and women with distinct fragrances, formulas, and packaging.Traditional deodorants usually fall into two categories:
Men's deodorants: Typically scented with woody or spicy notes, these deodorants are designed to mask body odor and provide a sense of masculinity.
Women's deodorants: Often featuring floral or fruity fragrances, these deodorants focus on providing a sense of femininity and sweetness.
Unisex Deodorants: A New Era of Inclusivity
Unisex deodorants, on the other hand, aim to break free from traditional gender stereotypes. These products are designed to be free from gender-specific fragrance profiles, instead offering a range of scents that appeal to both men and women.
Key Differences of Unisex Deodorants
Fragrance
Unisex deodorants often feature neutral or subtle fragrances that do not conform to traditional gender stereotypes. Traditional deodorants typically have stronger, more polarizing scents.
Formulation
Unisex deodorants might use gentler ingredients and fewer chemicals compared to traditional deodorants, which can be harsher on skin.
Packaging
Unisex deodorants often feature minimalist or gender-neutral packaging, while traditional deodorants may have more elaborate designs and color schemes.
Marketing
Unisex deodorants focus on inclusivity and diversity, avoiding gender-specific marketing tactics that can be alienating or exclusionary.
Target audience
Unisex deodorants cater to individuals who don't identify with traditional gender norms, as well as those who simply prefer a more neutral approach to personal care.
Benefits of Unisex Deodorants:
Increased inclusivity: Unisex deodorants promote a sense of belonging for individuals who don't fit into traditional gender categories.
Improved performance: Many unisex deodorants offer better performance and longer-lasting protection due to their neutral fragrance profiles.
Gentler on skin: Unisex deodorants often use gentler ingredients that are less likely to irritate sensitive skin.
Broader appeal: Unisex deodorants can appeal to a wider audience, including those who prefer subtle fragrances or avoid strong scents altogether.
Birra Fragrance's Unisex Deodorants - the New Era of Personal Care
Unisex deodorants offer a refreshing alternative to traditional gender-specific products. By abandoning gender stereotypes and embracing inclusivity, unisex deodorants provide a more accessible and effective solution for personal care.
