Fun 5am facts about Egg tonight
I was marked down in Spanish in high school for not rolling my R's because I am like physically incapable of it and I never realized how bullshit that was until like now. Like when I try it hurts. And no one listened to me say I can't, they just told me to try harder.

5 Speech Therapy Tips For Parents To Use At Home
Tumblr media
A speech therapist’s job doesn’t end after a speech therapy session. In reality, one of the most important aspects of speech therapy is educating parents and caregivers on strategies they can use to improve their child’s speech and language skills at home, which is why we always provide additional tips to work outside of our clinic.
Below are some effective speech therapy strategies that you can incorporate into your child’s daily routine.
1. Offer Choices
Providing choices for your child to model what the child could say. For instance, you can ask your child, “Do you want to wear the red dress or the blue dress?” Giving your child options will encourage them to make requests using language. Offering choices for what the child might want provides a model of the words, but also makes the child feel included in decision making. Children can be more likely to answer these questions when they feel as if they have some control in the decision making.
2. Keep Play Interesting And Fun
Child’s language development needs can be a sure way of increasing language. You can be animated, use silly voices and facial expressions to keep your child engaged. Being silly during play will not only increase your child’s engagement but it can increase social communication by encouraging eye contact, initiation and imitation.
3. Eliminate Distractions
Children learn through play. It is important to limit distractions during focused play with your child, especially when you are trying to model language and encourage speech. Studies have shown that background distractions can limit your child’s speech development because they lower the quality of your interactions. Parents can reduce distractions and increase the quality of interactions with their children by turning off devices, getting on the child’s level and letting them lead in a play scheme.
4. Follow Their Lead
While playing with your child, try letting them lead. Allow them to choose the toy/activity and follow with the play scheme that they introduce. You can imitate their play while providing language. Model sound effects and narrate what your child is doing. This allows the child to hear what they could say, without providing any demands or restrictions.
5. Functional Words First
Focus on modeling and emphasizing functional words first. Functional words include words we use in our daily life or “core” words (i.e., eat, drink, more, likes/dislikes, names of people and favorite toys). Oftentimes, parents focus on “academic” words (i.e., shapes, letters, numbers, labels) before they begin to focus on core words. These “academics” are not helpful in having your child’s needs and wants met. Focusing on simple action words and making requests can allow your child to acquire functional language.
As you play with your child and go about daily routines, be sure to remember these strategies. Most strategies can be incorporated into play, chores and daily routines. It is important to note that your child will benefit from short, regular opportunities to practice language skills. Sometimes 15 minutes everyday can be much more impactful than a longer duration all at once sporadically, especially for young children. If you believe your child may have a language delay or is not meeting typical milestones, you can seek out support from specialists offering speech therapy near you, like Milestone Therapy Group. Our therapists work first-hand with parents and caregivers to provide education and resources to promote your child’s language development.

The end is near! LMK season five episodes 9-10 spoilers below the cut!!
Oooh boy I’m gonna regret watching these right before I have to go be a functional human being with my family.
Mac stepping in last moment when even SWK was at a loss on what to do?!
Mac grabbing MK was a really cool sequence!
Mac’s fighting him to keep him away!!! Also it’s a little hypocritical considering he started this season with the self sacrificing.
“It doesn’t always need to be you!” Mac having some pre journey flashbacks but with a very different reason.
“Who’d you make a deal with?” “A deal?” I’m sensing more Mac backstory next season…
Bite him Mei!!
“If you’re sorry, then you know it’s the wrong thing to do, son!” Pigsy stop tearing my heart out challenge.
“Here goes nothing, make it count” what do you MEAN?!
Mac what did you do!!?
Nezha mech!!
Mei will mess you up!!
SWK tackling MK!!
Sick villain design
“Don’t make me do this” the parallels!!
“No kid, don’t make me” oooh! He’s not holding back now!!
The call backs to the first episode! MK and SWK fight but not like so many people theorized!! I’m screaming!
Is he binding MK to the mountain with the staff like he did DBK?!?!
Monkeys stop self sacrificing challenge
The fillet!!
The voice acting!!!
Everyone getting to be BA!!
“Wukong” Mac, as far as you know MK was the only option here, why are you more worried about SWK?
Lego stop having main characters being basically dead and talking to the most powerful being challenge.
“Did it…did it work?”
He’s so relieved!! MK!
‘I mean they’ll be reincarnated’ that was NOT the deal!!
Last episode here we go!!
“Cause he’s the monkie kid!!” Genuinely a great theme song!!
Chang’e! I was wondering when you’d show up for that shot!
Oh god, I paused on a shot of Pigsy crying. I am not okay.
SWK pleading!!
“There are none in the world strong enough to bear the stones” gestures to MK and his friends.
MK believes too much in his friends to let it end here!!
“It shouldn’t be up to you, and it definitely definitely shouldn’t be up to me!” Honestly I’d trust that choice to MK.
“Even if it all does ends in pain, that pain is ours!”
Hey has anyone read Stromlight Archives? Cause MK and Dalinar should talk.
I’m so proud of my boi!
“Na-uh, I’m the Monkie Kid!”
Monkey MK!!
Catch him!
“I got you!” The voice acting! I’m gonna cry!
Group hug!
Don’t cry MK!!
“Tang, it’s okay”
SWK reaching out to Mac!!!
Conveniently color coordinated stones for the conveniently color coordinated cast
*We’re all in this together from HSM starts playing in the background*
Bai He cameo!
Taking from she-ra’s book and solving everything with the power of rainbow
Mac is yellow from SWK, the shadowpeach shippers are screaming.
Flying bark reference!!
“I don’t wanna loose you”
I’m in tears
Mac with weird chaos powers now? Also Mac searching the underworld for answers??
Nezha helping rebuild Heaven!!
They made a party for MK
Chaos staff! And only Mac noticed?!
Tang speech!!
My only big complaint: Porty MK did not show up.
That was so good! Not sure it topped season 3 (my favorite season) but it was really good!! The Sandy episode is still my favorite just because I love the big blue guy, but it was all really enjoyable! I understand some peoples complaint about the animation, but we went from a S rank studio, there wasn’t any way it was gonna stay that good with a switch. And they kept with a lot of the style really well. (The rigging was a little rough sometimes but I’m sure with time it’ll get better, if not then I’ll be disappointed). Anyway, let MK rest, get him some therapy, tell Mac to communicate because I feel like that’ll be an issue next season, and get all three Monkey’s to stop self sacrificing please.
Now I can go unblock tags!!

Influence
Summary: (TodorokixOC) Sometimes it takes a little bit of blackmail and good old fashioned vandalism to get friends out of sour moods. TW: Implies domestic abuse/violence, implied self harm, and vandalism. Discretion advised.
🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚
Todoroki knew his family history was overwhelming and that was the polite way to describe it. He didn't like to broadcast that information if he didn't have to, but now...all of Japan knew.
Dabi was Touya and Touya was Dabi, and it made no sense that Endeavor tried to replicate his 'perfect heir' project not once but twice. The absolute nerve of that man.
For the past week, different members of Class 1-A tried to get Todoroki to talk about it. They wanted him to express some angry words about Endeavor and move on.
Momo suggested he talk to the campus counselor. Toru suggested family therapy without Endeavor. Midoriya recommended Todoroki write a strongly worded letter to Endeavor about his shit parenting style. Bakugo told him to get over it.
Todoroki felt sick to his stomach. The trauma never ended, it only accelerated.
"Stop it." Taika's voice pulled him out of his thoughts. Her pretty face marred by the mean expression that settled into her features. "Todoroki, this has gone on long enough."
He wanted to say something smart, something sharp at her command but he had nothing.
"Get up." Taika ungracefully snatched Todoroki's wallet from his nightstand, and waved it front of him.
"No." Was the young man's reply as he settled further into the comfort of his bed.  What? Was she bribing him with his own money? Was she being funny?
Taika pulled out an extremely sharp pair of kitchen scissors from the pocket of her old highschool hoodie.
Todoroki cocked his head at her, a frown cemented on his features as he felt both curious and uneasy at the sight of the scissors so close to his wallet.
"Do whatever." He replied lowly.
Taika didn't miss a beat. "Alright, since you gave me permission." She opened the wallet and picked up Todoroki's shiny, provisional hero lisence and tapped the edge of the card with the scissors. It was easy and damn near painless to get new bank cards-getting a new hero license, not so much.
Not even rich kids could expedite that process. And Taika knew, that Todoroki knew that.
Todoroki's eyes finally sparked with an emotion that wasn't despair. "What are you doing?"
Taika flashed a playful grin at him and tapped the license with the kitchen scissors again. "Following instructions and doing whatever." She placed the card in between sharp, metal legs, and cleared her throat as she readied to give the license a eulogy before the first cut.
"To Todoroki's hard work. It is a shame his daddy issues caused him to abandon his dreams of becoming a better hero."
Todoroki suddenly rushed toward Taika, his hand reached to yank the card out of her grip; Taika merely leaned away and held his provisional license behind her back. The scissors clattered to the floor of his dorm.
"Taika, I'm not playing." Todoroki warned, his voice a mixture of anger and determination
She could work with that much better than despair. Taika matched his tone, "You think I'm playing?"
🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚
"This is stupid." Todoroki muttered under his breath as they exited from the train station. Taika forced him into one of Sero's black and yellow hoodies, Toru's costume glasses, and Midoriya's All Might beanie right before she forced him to go on a 'self-care' journey for the night.
"Your attitude is stupid." Taika shot back with ease as they navigated through throngs of people. She gave him a half frown. "Look, just try to get out of your head?"
Todoroki blanked; his eyes narrowed as if he heard a bad joke. "You want me to get out of my head?"
"Don't overthink it, Todoroki." Taika did not have time to explain expressions and figures of speech right now, nor did she want to. Her eyes scanned the busy streets of Nagoya until she saw a convenience store roughly a block down the street; she lowered the bill of her baseball cap.
Todoroki felt a nudge and when he looked over he was greeted by a neatly folded (and possibly ironed?) bills right in his face. There was either a deeply mischievious or menacing glint deep in Taika's eyes. His mind was both alarmed but also captivated. If Taika stayed quiet with that focused, intense look in her eyes, Todoroki may have figured the emotion out himself.
Alas. Taika decided to boss the sullen boy around. "Go inside and buy two egg cartons."
"...Why?" Todoroki felt offended; who was this uppity girl who decided to disrupt his night and command him to do such a menial task?  It all felt like waste, Todoroki grumbled inwardly.
"Because if you don't I'm going to put your provisional license through a shredder then use those shredded bits to start up a barbeque." Taika smiled her best smile, the one she knew that especially pissed off people. "I hope you like defeat as a side dish."
He narrowed his heterochromatic eyes at her and she merely arched an eyebrow at him and waved the money in his face. Too much like an owner that taunted their dog to play fetch if you asked Todoroki!
A tense silence settled between the two friends.
"You know what, make it three cartons." The purple haired beauty reiterated calmly.
Todoroki snatched the folded money; a quiet pout of frustration accompanied him as he did the little errand. I could be doing anything else. His mind wandered a bit to the unread books he ordered, to the new training techniques he could have perfected  by now, he could have watched a few soapy dramadies with Fuyumi too. He hadn't thought about the little things in his life he actually enjoyed until now.
As Todoroki gathered the eggs, he felt taken aback for a brief moment as he exited the store.  The way he exhaled was shakey and filled to the brim with anger. He felt betrayed, kind of. His eyes fixated on the giant billboard of Endeavor high above him.
"I thought we were friends, Taika." Todoroki's jaw tightened in what could only be described as pure and utter vexation.
Taika moved toward him; her hands sternly held onto his forearms; her eyes fixated on some location beyond them; and Todoroki suddenly found himself on the rooftop opposite of his father's billboard.
Taika nudged at him, a softer expression allowed to him as she gestured to the bag with their supplies, the tips of the fingers brushed together for a moment.  "Let's egg his billboard."
It was insanse how warm and sincere that sounded but also.. wasn't that illegal?
"Wait," Todoroki's eyes shifted around as he looked for Pro Heroes or sidekicks in the area. He didn't see any but that didn't mean they weren't around. "Won't we get in trouble, Taika?"
"We'll only get in trouble if we get caught and we're not going to get caught." Taika added, as she handed Todoroki one of the egg cartons. "Or if one of us is a narcs, and I am not a narc. Are you, Todoroki?"
Todoroki thoughtfully examined the eggs before his eyes cut back to the billboard of Endeavor.
He didn't notice the small sigh of relief and the way Taika's shoulders relaxed once she saw the first egg crack right on the billboard. Nor did he notice the way she smiled softly at him once she saw a faint grin on Todoroki's features.  She couldn't recall any time recently he smiled.
🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚
If someone told Todoroki Shoto that he and the teleporter were going to be close friends the first time he met her; he'd think that was a backhanded insult. Now, Todoroki would merely shrug and acknowledge the accuracy of that statement. Which was better than how Bakugo would've reacted truth be told.
Before tonight, he never vandalized anything. Now after tonight, not only did  Todoroki vandalize three different Endeavor billboards, but he evaded building security. Twice. Maybe he should have felt guilty, or rather in fact, Todoroki knew he should have felt guilty. For the first time since finding out, Todoroki felt like he could breathe.
I think...I think it'll be hard for me to adjust to the changes I may face, Todoroki thought as the invisible weight burried deep in chest evaporated. His eyes casted over to Taika, a genuine smile bloomed on his handsome face as the purple haired girl deligently kept an eye out. But with friends like Taika, I think I'll be okay.
The pair huddled close under the cover of a hearty bush until it was all clear to come out.
"Don't worry." She whispered in perhaps the softest tone Todoroki's ever heard from her. "They're not cops, they won't be as thorough trying to find us right now. They have to report back to the building. Most they'll maybe do is file a report that'll go nowhere because they didn't even get a good look at us."
Todoroki tilted his head at her . His smiled faltered. "How do you know that?" Concern and curiosity burned behind his eyes.
Taika blinked at the supposed Prince of UA. Why was he so dense sometimes!?
"Todoroki, you should know that too. We have an exam for our 'Civil Procedures and Rights' class on Tuesday!"
Oh, shit. Todoroki rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "I guess I was busy wallowing, huh?"
Taika rolled her eyes at him, "Yeah, but you're done now. Right, Todoroki?"
His body eased at those words. Todoroki expected some lengthy lecture from Taika, but the few words she used was more than enough.
"Hn." He nodded curtly at her.
There were a small series of follow up questions for Todoroki after that 'Hn'.
Was he sleeping well, if at all? Was he only sustaining himself with instant ramen? When was the last time he spoke to Fuyumi and his mother? Was he drinking enough water? Her last question threw him for a loop.
"You're not...you're not a danger to yourself, right?" Taika's voice still a whisper as a they carefully exited their leafy fortress.
Todoroki halted and his blood went cold. "What?"
Taika doubled down with an explanation. Well, a partial one anyways. Tonight wasn't really about her and her issues.
"I knew a few kids in a similar situation to you, Todoroki, when I was growing up." Taika left names out but she pictured a young face or three in her mind's eye. Her heart broke quietly for the friends she lost. "It's not pity or paranoia, Todoroki." She was covering all the bases; being thorough.
Todoroki wondered if Taika knew he could see the way there was a small spark of fear in her eyes. He heard the slight way her voice tried to shake as she spoke.
He always admired Taika for being so resilient. Scared, nervous, or otherwise, Taika pushed through and here she was, trying to help him do the same as well. It humbled Todoroki.
"No." Todoroki answered calmly as he fell into step with Taika's pace. "I promise."
Relief rolled through her neck and shoulders as the stress of her worry dissolved. She shifted to a different topic, happy and sure of Todoroki's reply.
"Now," Taika reached into her back jean pocket and pointed Todoroki's precious provisional license at his face. "The next time someone holds your license, ID, or any other important documents from you, you're suppose to report that to the police. Don't fall for something like that again, 'Roki. Imagine if someone with worse intentions tried to blackmail you?"
Todoroki's face wrinkled into a mix bewilderement and awe at the teleporter, a small amused grin tugged ever so slightly on the corners of his mouth.  He plucked his license away from the teleporter. "You do know that you are a bad influence, right?"
Taika pretended to take offense; she pointed at herself with a faux look of innocence. "Me? I'm a saint."
Todoroki knew damn good and well saints would not encourage him to pour sugar and salt into Endeavor's protein powder.

I'm Back . . .
Tumblr media
If you missed my post about my problems with my hand, you can read it here. Basically, I was in a hand brace for a month, and I couldn't type or write by hand or do my hand embroidery. It was very sad for me without my favorite hobbies! Even scrolling online was painful and difficult. "Why don't you just dictate your writing?" People would ask. Yeah, no. I am nowhere near as eloquent in speech as in writing. It just doesn't work for me.
Anyways, long story short, the hand specialist said I had tendonitis in my thumb from overuse. By the time I was cleared from the hand brace, I left for a week's vacation with my kids. Now I'm back, brace free! However, I'm also doing physical therapy to ensure this doesn't happen again. I have some soreness today from the exercises she's having me do, but the pain is nowhere what it was before.
I also have to pace myself with anything that uses my hands. No more marathon writing sessions or embroidering for hours while everyone else watches a football game. Pooh. So, I will be updating my fics and (hopefully) posting some new stuff, but it will be slow. (Slower than before, you ask? Haha, unfortunately, yes.) I also will be back tomorrow posting my songs. Those don't take a lot of effort.
Tagging people who may care? lol

VICKIE!!! a lot of questions in one buuut bare with me i love her so much already
how is life with the band? you four still making the best of the celebrity lifestyle? how are the fans treating you?
when did you publicly come out? how did the media take it?
now that you're coming back on the show, are you hoping to rekindle an old flame with a certain someone? 👀
“Oh, wow, that’s a lot of questions indeed, haha!
“The boys and I are still doing very well, both as a band and as a friend group. The fans are great too! They’ve supported us along a very long way, and I can’t just not be thankful for that.
“As for coming out… It was kind of complicated. Figuring yourself out while you’re a celebrity is not fun, I’ll tell you that much. It did give me some courage that I was the last one of the group to do it, though. Trent and Justin started dating a while after World Tour, and they publicly announced it years later – what was it, like, 2010? They were bold, I’ll give them that. And in 2013, news came out that Cody was trans; though, those only got out because he was outed at a concert… Which is a long story.
“Fast forward to 2016, and you’ve got all sorts of queer terms coming out. At first, I identified as genderfluid, but I never told anyone except the boys. I abandoned it when I realized I was really a woman, but still never told fans or family. I said they’d have to find out the hard way – much after my transition.
“So, that was said and done. I went on HRT in 2019 and I underwent speech therapy to try changing my voice, which left some fans wondering, but they generally kept quiet. I was somewhat glad when the pandemic hit because we could cancel our shows and I’d get all the time needed to do my so-called ‘transformation’ behind the scenes.
“We only started doing tours and shows again in 2022, and, by God, that was hilarious. I remember it like it was yesterday: our first show, I just didn’t come on stage for the first songs, and people were shouting for me, like, ‘Where’s Harold? Where’s Harold?’. Cody, the little shit, was dying laughing, and Trent came up all somber like, ‘He died’. I’m not even kidding, the guy actually said I died. I cracked up backstage, and everyone went kind of silent, like, ‘Oh my God, no, he’s joking, he’s gotta be’.
“And then I came out. Literally and in the queer sense. I came from backstage, and got on the stage, and Trent said ‘But we have Vickie now, so it’s all good’, and everyone just looked kind of confused until it just clicked. And so many people started cheering; some started booing, those were quickly escorted outside, I mean, hello, we’re a band full of queers, you didn’t expect me to turn out cishet, surely?
“We came up with more songs after that, many of them based on my experience as a trans woman, and Cody and I’s experiences as trans people in general, we just took a much queerer turn once we knew we could just do it. It’s liberating, to be able to finally be so open about it.
“And for that last question… I’m guessing you mean Leshawna? I mean… Heh… Yeah, I’d like to, like… Get to know her again, see what she’s been up to, but I’m not sure she’s exactly interested in dating me, or anything. I-I mean—not that I’m interested in her in that sense! That would be weird! I haven’t been… thinking about her daily, or anything, wondering where she’s at in life, how she’s doing—nothing like that! Never! Heh! Is it—is it hot in here? Hey, Cody, can you turn on the AC? I think I’m done with the ask, haha…”
coming soon to an AO3 near you.
questions, concerns, suggestions to be deposited in the ask box.

Effective communication cannot be underestimated in the hustling city of Gurgaon. From the children finding their voice to the adults developing their speech, speech and language therapy can help turn lives around in all walks of Gurgaon. This article will outline speech therapy, its benefits, and the best place of speech and language therapy in Gurgaon to get such services.
Tumblr media
Know About Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and language therapy in Gurgaon has been exclusively designed to deal with different types of communication disorders. This kind of therapy aims to provide solutions for speech, language, and swallowing disorders with the aid of customized techniques that are suitable for every type of condition. This would help to enhance the skill of talking and make them get more actively involved in their personal and professional lives.
Why Gurgaon?
Gurgaon, with the rapid urbanization and diversity of the population, has felt an increased need for speech and language therapy in Gurgaon. Talkwell therapy center has professionals in this town who offer top-quality speech therapy services. It caters to children as well as adults, making sure no one will be left behind without help.
The Need for Early Intervention
Early intervention in speech and language development is very important in children. Speech therapy in kids can deal with many types of disorders, from articulatory problems to language developmental delays. Early intervention will help lay a good foundation for the emergence of communication skills in the future, hence leading to better academic performance and social interactions.
Speech and language therapy in Gurgaon will help the child get special customized programs consisting of play-based learning, interactive sessions, and even parent training. This makes the therapy enjoyable and invites very remarkable progress.
Personalized Therapy for Adults
It may, however, be more important in adults than in children. Adult speech therapy can help in speech impediments like stammering, voice disorders, and loss of ability to communicate due to stroke or traumatic brain injury.
Many clinics in Gurgaon offer all-rounded speech and language therapy in Gurgaon for adults, bringing along the latest techniques and technologies in the process. This kind of service can improve one's communication, enhance confidence, and increase socialization.
Searching for the Right Speech Therapy Services
While searching for the best speech therapy near me, one has to look into the qualifications of the therapist, the repute of the clinic, and the kind of therapy being undertaken. Gurgaon hosts a number of speech therapy centers, some of which are highly resourceful and offer individualistic treatment with a very high success rate.
New Techniques and Equipment
The scope of Speech and Language Therapy in Gurgaon is ever increasing, with the adoption of new techniques and equipment bringing about an improvement in the results of therapy. From digital applications to biofeedback devices, Gurgaon-based therapists are trying to make meaningful use of technology in a more effective way so as to make their therapy sessions engaging and exciting.
Success Stories: Transforming Lives
Success stories are perhaps the most edifying indications of the impact of Speech and Language Therapy in Gurgaon. Here is a case in point: a small child who suffered from stuttering. The child attended many months of therapy regularly; he did not only overcome his stutter but gained confidence to participate actively during school and social activities.
It's in speech therapy for adults, therefore, that another adult who suffered a stroke that took away his clarity of speech began to have new hope. Through the guidance of a dedicated therapist, they regained their speech and, along with it, their independence.
Integrating Therapy into Everyday Life
Another important feature of speech and language therapy in Gurgaon is that it modifies certain techniques of therapy into everyday life. The therapists work together with the family to ensure that abilities learned during sessions are followed up at home, thus making it holistic in approach and ensuring long-term benefits and sustained progress.
The Role of Family and Community
It is also well reflected that family and community support in Gurgaon forms a very prominent basis for the success of speech and language therapy. Family members are often involved by therapists, who arm them with tools and strategies to help in the progress of their loved one. Also, community awareness and acceptance set up a very positive environment for those undergoing therapy.
The Future of Speech Therapy in Gurgaon
Gurgaon holds an encouraging future for speech and language therapy, for techniques in therapy are evolving continually and access to services is available. More and more people, with growing awareness, realize that speech therapy has an important role in improving the quality of life.
Conclusion
In other words, speech and language therapy in Gurgaon comprises the most prominent service to deal with various problems in communication. Whether it is for children, adults, or the best speech therapy near me in Gurgaon, it is laden with resources and expertise that are second to none. Only by accepting early intervention, newer techniques, and a much-needed helping hand is anybody capable of reaching up to their full potential for greater success in communication.

i will be interested to see your expanse upon the semi feral upbringing and how it impacted rika in social as well as intellectual development. will you be referencing any studies on (fully) feral children or reported cases?
// (holy shit anon i am so sorry i typed like a maniac but I HAD TOO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS)
Tumblr media
tbh, as much as i talk about my made-up clodsire ecology n stuff, this is a part of rika i'm due on writing on- rika's different from someone like my N for example, since N was raised mostly ferally until he was ~7 years old (although due to the nature of pokemon as well as the fact that it's a fictionalized account, it isn't as tragic as a real life feral child case... for one, this didn't impend his speech, though i have my HCs for why that's the case, but this isn't the blog to discuss it LOL), whereas my rika is more a mixture (hence why i keep using the word semi-feral to refer to her), since she was (poorly) raised by her human parents until she decided on her own to live mostly with the clodsire pond she frequented, rather than growing up with them from birth.
now, when i use semi feral it's because, while yes, she did grow up more socially in connection with wild pokemon, she never really stopped attending elementary school (even when skipping class here and there). she could've just gone and stop attending altogether, but what makes her semi-feral is that she had a taste of human interaction from the beginning and she, even unconsciously, still craved it in some form.
she lived in a contradiction of ''the people who should've cared for me don't and it makes me not want to establish strong human connections with others out of fear of getting hurt and abandoned'' and ''i still have a glimmer of hope within me that someone -human-, someday, will give a shit about me the same way these clodsire and wooper do'' (which is why i describe her childhood and teenage years as 'liminal', a threshold between rejecting and embracing the humane part of herself, which geeta helped her cross).
Tumblr media
socially, she's always been about putting up fronts for convenience's or survival's sake (which is, in part, why she has a front during league tests - in that case, it's a conscious decision on her behalf, because she cares about her job and about the league and she wants people to take it seriously, and if she's her usual laid-back haha funni self, they won't).
she's always been cool and laid-back, don't get me wrong. matter of fact, during elementary, the equally rowdy kids in her class admired her, and she never suffered bullying during that time simply cause she was just 'so cool', showing off a very lone wolf 'i don't need anybody' persona while around people that even carried on to her teenage years. she enjoyed the positive attention, but she also only considered people acquaintances, and no one got truly close to her during that time. she was always a little popular because of her looks and the way she carried herself even as a kid and teen, though difference here is that she's much more open to letting people get close to her as an adult.
intellectually, she changed A LOT after she started attending naranjuva. a lot of shit she had to unlearn. a lot of therapy to go through. her more dramatic change definitely was her reckless attitude. as a kid and teen, she'd provoke wild pokemon to challenge them to races, she'd dodge slow pokemon that wanted to bite her, and when she wasn't doing that, she'd protect papá clod's pond from predators which, as efficient as she was, was equally dangerous. she had mad luck cause she never got a single hit landed on her until the espathra incident, and that made her overconfident and reckless and very cocky. (and this ties well with her reaction to knowing that the MC went to area zero - only someone who was equally reckless in the past and learned shit the hard way would have such a strong angry and concerned reaction, imo LOL)
for better or for worse, the trauma of being put in a near-death situation and getting a deep wound on herself for the first time coupled with the fact that geeta saved her REALLY made her consider things. not only the path her life was heading towards, but the fact that for the first time in her life, someone of her own ''species'' gave an actual fuck about her well-being and safety. geeta was the first human person she opened up to and was vulnerable with, which is a huge achievement. and upon following her to naranjuva and joining her, she also helped her unlearn a lot of rude behavior. 'feet off the table, use these serving utensils to eat and not your bare hands, don't throw crumbled up paper at others, don't start physical fights even if it is to protect me, etc etc'
Tumblr media
her animalistic behavior is considerably toned down nowadays, and it's not something she shows to people she barely knows at all. but the more relaxed and close she is with someone, the more these little behaviors will start showing, as well as more neurodivergent behaviors of her own. things like growls of delight, mouthing the other person's arm, stimming (using a chewelry toy near them, letting herself show off raptor hands, kneading etc), moving in a more 'feral' way (be it on her fours, laying on the floor, making lil grunts and growls, etc)...
as for your last question, i've read up a lot of real cases on feral children cause i've always found the topic fascinating, and there's one case that really inspired me as a i was working on this - the case of marcos rodríguez pantoja, one of the few documented cases of feral children in spain. years before i made this blog, i watched the spanish film entrelobos, which was based on his case. there's very few similarities between his case and my rika's, but the fact that it happened in spain, the fact that both endured abuse in their childhoods (though in my rika's case it was more neglect than physical/verbal abuse, but hey, still abuse), and that they spent from late childhood to mid-late adolescence living in the wild...
yeah, idk, even when it's not a 1:1 at ALL, it was slightly in the back of my mind as i started to give my rika's backstory shape.
