Watched Batman caped Crusader
Okay under a cut to avoid spoilers
Now let's see okay when this series is good it's really really good. That said there are some fumbling parts.
Let's start with how this honestly reminds me more of early post crisis Jim Starlin Batman than a lot of modern portrayals. Stuff like Batman not killing but being willing to jump out of the way while two goons gun each other down and I'm fine with that but it is a slight tonal shift from some of Timm's other Batman work.
I like this take on Barbara Gordan and while I hope Timm won't go there again this is a Barbara I wouldn't be completely opposed to having a romance with Bruce because she's far more equal feeling than BTAS Barbara ever got to be before Batman Beyond.
Catwoman is a lot weaker this time around though. She's not bad for a one shot character but if they were going the playful way they played it I'd have rather she be just a recurring bit scattered over other short scenes in multiple episodes instead of introducing her and dropping her in one of such a limited number of episodes.
I also enjoyed the blending of some old classic takes on some villains along with the blending with more modern ones like how they handled Clayface.
Now onto the more reimagined characters I feel the new Harley Quin really works for this series as a departure from some of the more recent modern takes on her. Her earlier appearance seeing through a lot of Bruce's bull shit set up the reveal of this dark take on her Psychiatric practice much better than letting him completely fool her while also not making her too smart and her friendship with Barbara and crush on Renee helped to show hints of modern more redeemable Harley without downplaying that she's dangerous.
The same is true for Alfred as strained as his relationship with Bruce is there's something incredibly tragic in the hints that he desperately wants to fix things so Bruce can be normal and healthy and that he just can't that he knows he missed his chance when Bruce was a kid. His lien about always thinking Therapy might help was just so tinged with regret. . Plus the tantalizing hint at something he desperately doesn't want Batman to know. It's a good hook going forward and seeing things change from Pennyworth to Alfred is an interesting arc to follow on Bruce's side.
I'm not as big a fan of this Two Face since I found Harvey a bit too crooked already to really see it as a good man pushed to the breaking point and as a result Alfred's speech contrasing him with Bruce felt really forced. The fact he died also bugs me as it robs us of Two Face going forward and while I'm fine with villains getting killed to serve the story it just felt a bit incomplete
But the big one is I find myself so torn on is the Penquin. The Penquin as presented is a phenomenol Mob boss character who actually gets to get one over on Batman with the umbrella trick and the cold way she dealt with her sons was chilling.
I just don't feel Penquin from her. Other than the Iceberg lounge, outfit and Umbrella. She screams more showgirl gone bad mob boss than a female version of the classic Penquin and I'm a little disappointed she still has such a classically feminine hour glass figure with a pointed nose instead of a woman with a body that could realistically be nicknamed the Penquin.
Another part I really wasn't feeling was the Cameo by the Robin themed Orphans. It was already pushing it when Dickie and Jase appeared at the start but then we had Stephanie Brown and Carie and it just got too blatant as an in joke which will make it really awkward if this series ever does Robin and has to either dove tail back to these orphans or ignore their existence.
One last thing that last scene was not surprising in the least. I think everyone called it that no Batman series can leave him out of it for long. I will say the voice was an interesting choice and I actually kind of like it.

Pediatric Head and Neck Conditions: Understanding Treatment Approaches for Children
Tumblr media
Pediatric head and neck conditions encompass a broad spectrum of disorders affecting children, ranging from congenital anomalies to acquired diseases. Understanding treatment approaches for these conditions requires a multidisciplinary approach involving paediatricians, otolaryngologists (ENT specialists), pediatric surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists. Here's an overview of some common pediatric head and neck conditions and their treatment approaches:
Cleft Lip and Palate: Cleft lip and palate are among the most common congenital anomalies affecting the head and neck region. Treatment typically involves surgical repair, which may be performed in stages starting in infancy and continuing into childhood.
Lymphadenopathy: Enlarged lymph nodes in the head and neck region can result from infections, inflammatory conditions, or malignancies. Treatment depends on the underlying cause, which may include antibiotics for infections or further evaluation and management for malignancies.
Thyroid Disorders: Thyroid Cancer Treatment, along with conditions like congenital hypothyroidism and thyroid nodules, can impact children. Treatment may entail hormone replacement therapy to manage hypothyroidism or surgical intervention to remove cancerous nodules when necessary.
Otitis Media: Middle ear infections are common in children and may require antibiotic treatment. In some cases, particularly if infections are recurrent or severe, ENT evaluation for possible placement of tympanostomy tubes may be necessary.
Sinusitis: Sinus infections can occur in children, often as a complication of upper respiratory tract infections. Treatment may involve antibiotics, nasal saline irrigation, and supportive care to alleviate symptoms.
Pediatric Neck Masses: Neck masses in children may be due to a variety of causes, including benign or malignant tumours, cysts, or inflammatory conditions. Treatment depends on the underlying aetiology and may involve observation, surgical excision, or other interventions.
Hearing Loss: Various causes of hearing loss in children exist, including congenital anomalies, infections, and acquired conditions. Treatment may involve hearing aids, cochlear implants, speech therapy, or surgical correction depending on the cause and severity of hearing loss.
Airway Disorders: Conditions such as laryngomalacia, tracheomalacia, or subglottic stenosis can affect the pediatric airway. Treatment may involve observation, medical management, or surgical interventions such as airway reconstruction.
Dental and Oral Health: Dental caries, malocclusion, and other oral health issues are common in children and may require interventions ranging from preventive measures such as fluoride treatments and sealants to orthodontic treatment or surgical correction.
Trauma: Head and neck trauma in children may result from accidents, falls, or non-accidental injuries. Treatment varies depending on the nature and severity of the injury but may involve stabilization, surgical intervention, and rehabilitation.
When managing pediatric head and neck conditions, particularly concerning Head and Neck Cancer Treatment in Ahmedabad, it's imperative to recognize the distinctive anatomical and physiological variances in children compared to adults. Children's smaller airways, developing immune systems, and the potential impact of treatment on growth and development necessitate tailored approaches.

Prompt #10
You were a child when you notice, you were differnt from other. You were in other world paranoid. You werent set up like a villain backstory - you had great parent, a thriving buisiness to inherit, and all the most middle kid ever wanted.
Your family were slightly average to be able to afford therapy, ever since, you were a little kid. The therapy was kind enought to listen to you no wonder you parent chose them. The best out fo the best for a bright kid like you, but they do wonder where your weird tendency came from.
Everday from home you always on the look out for any car, you parent claim you shiek when a truck carying green man with gun come out.

Bleeding gums and Dental caries
bleeding gums Gingivitis
Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gum line and surrounding tissues. It is caused by bacteria and plaque build-up. Plaque is a sticky film of food particles and bacteria that forms on teeth and along the gum line. When plaque hardens, it becomes tartar. Tartar is a hardened substance composed of dead cells, bacteria, and food debris. If left untreated, it causes periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is a condition where the gums become inflamed and bleed easily.
2. Dental caries
Dental caries is the decay of tooth enamel. Enamel is the outer layer of a tooth that covers the dentin. It is the hardest substance in the body. Decay occurs when bacteria eat away at the surface of the enamel. Bacteria produce acid that dissolves the enamel. Once the enamel is gone, the underlying dentin is exposed. Dentinal tubules connect the root canal system to the outside environment. These tubes allow fluids to flow between the inside and outside of the tooth. As the enamel decays, these tubes get clogged. This prevents fluid from flowing out of the tooth and creates an ideal environment for bacterial growth.
3. Trench Mouth
Trench mouth is a painful oral infection that affects the soft tissues around the lips and tongue. It is caused by the overgrowth of bacteria in the mouth. The bacteria cause swelling and redness of the mucous membranes. It is characterized by sores and ulcers on the inside of the cheeks, lips, and tongue.
Oral cancer and Gum recession
Oral cancer
Oral cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the mouth. It may begin as a sore or lump under the skin or in the lining of the mouth. It may spread to nearby lymph nodes or even the neck. Symptoms include pain, numbness, tingling, difficulty swallowing, and changes in taste. Early detection is critical to successful treatment.
 Gum recession
Gum recession is the loss of gum tissue due to pressure from the roots of the teeth. It is often seen in people who have had orthodontics (braces) or periodontal disease. Gum recession is not considered a serious problem unless it interferes with speech or chewing.
Tooth abscesses
Tooth abscesses occur when an infected area of the jawbone develops pus. Pus collects in pockets formed by the roots of the teeth and spreads throughout the jawbone. A tooth abscess can be painful and difficult to treat. Untreated tooth abscesses can lead to tooth loss.
 Periapical abscess
A periapical abscess is an infection of the bone surrounding the apex of a tooth. It is usually caused by dental procedures such as root canal therapy or extractions. Painful swelling and fever are symptoms of a periapical abscess.

THE WANTON - Left in the charge of an older brother who plans to marry her off, the independent Trista Windham runs away and joins a wagon train, where she meets rugged scout Blaze Davenant and learns his dangerous secret. A bit scuffed but all pages intact and legible. Please see any and all photos connected with this listing. Struggling with depression and disordered eating Olivia returned to Adelaide and her studies, abandoning the modelling industry and NSW in favour of a healthy relationship with food.Mass Market Paperback. "For my height (173cm) that's just not OK" "I wasn't happy". Olivia quickly found that life as a model put her under serious body scrutiny, and in the wake of constant measurements and pressure to be thin, she became very self-conscious, dropping to just 49kg. Where Did Olivia Rogers Grow Up?īorn and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, Olivia first stepped onto Sydney's modelling scene as a teenager after being scouted at just 17 years old. Still a keen artist, Olivia says she "would love to combine passion for art and passion for speech pathology to maybe create resources for speech pathologists to use in therapy". With a particular interest in the vibrancy of Mexican art, Olivia says that she was drawn to colour and fascinated by the way that the Day of the Dead festival can turn morbidity into beauty. While studying her degree, Olivia became an entrepreneur, launching a small business selling her self-taught illustrations and paintings. Since then, her talent and passion for visual art have only grown. Olivia says that she began to draw as soon as she was old enough to hold a pencil. "I really have made friends for life from all over the globe". "I have had the most incredible experience with some of the most hilarious, kind, intelligent girls I’ve ever met", she wrote. Attending sister Eleanor's Las Vegas wedding before the finale and partying in Los Angeles with Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio, Olivia had plenty of cause for celebration. Unfortunately, Olivia didn't make the competition's top 16 and while the international beauty pageant prize, which hasn't been won by an Australian since Jennifer Hawkins in 2004, was taken by Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, she did not consider it a wasted opportunity. In 2018, Olivia took to the global stage as Australia's representative in the international Miss Universe pageant. She was in good company at the top with Georgie Mitchell and Tahlia Giumelli from New South Wales were first and second runner up respectively while Victoria's Marijana Radmanovic was the third runner up. She became the first South Australian representative to take the title of Miss Universe Australia in the national final, held at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins Street, since 1997, and was crowned by former winner Caris Tiivel. Fortunately, Olivia put her fears aside and took a chance. She found the idea of getting on stage in front of the nation, especially in a bikini, incredibly intimidating. " Even in front of my family I am a bit self-conscious ," Olivia said. A late entrant to the Miss Universe contest, Olivia almost didn't take part.

scandalous icon: sidney poitier - an analysis
“Okay listen, you think I'm so inconsequential? Then try this on for size. All those who see unworthiness when they look at me and are given thereby to denying me value - to you I say, I'm not talking about being AS GOOD as you. I hereby declare myself BETTER than you.” - Sidney Poitier
Sounds like something I would say. It meant a lot to him to be the way he was. As a boy he had a relationship with silence; he learned to hear silence. That's the kind of life he lived: simple. He learned to see things in people around him. This is what turned him into a great and revered actor. His early rejection when starting out as an actor helped to forge his character. Humiliated but unbroken, Poitier bought a $13 radio and spent hours listening to the announcers, mimicking their pronunciation and the rhythms of their speech. When he returned to the theater, his audition was little better, and when he stepped into the limelight, Sidney Poitier was a sensation. He became something like the Black Cary Grant: a strikingly handsome and well-spoken gentleman. Poitier was graceful, manly, self-possessed, with an innate dignity and a tremendous screen presence. His ascent was meteoric, smashing through the Hollywood colour barriers as none had ever done before. I’m sure that his status as a pioneer and quiet revolutionary, his type of stillness and defiance, as well as his toughness, tenacity, steadiness, magic, regal nature, dignity, elegance, courage, and humanity is down to his Cancer dominance.
Poitier lifted himself by the bootstraps from extreme poverty to the pinnacle of artistic achievement as an actor, and as the first African-American man to win Best Actor, Poitier was in a class by himself. Quite literally, he carved out a place for himself in Hollywood, when roles for Black people were extremely limited in their scope and range, and created and defined the African-American in film. I’m sure it was a huge responsibility to be obligated to represent an entire race. I’m sure he didn’t want to carry that burden. But he graciously did so when he really didn’t have to, and influenced and inspired legions of African-American actors who would follow in his footsteps. From the characters he played in his films, to his real life, the man personified dignity, class, grace, ease, strength, kindness, and courage. Poitier embodied what an evolved Pisces is. Incidentally, he just so happens to share the same birthday as Rihanna, but that’s a story for another day. With Poitier’s recent passing, the golden age of Hollywood is all but gone, but his legacy of triumph over adversity remains.

Sidney Poitier, according to astrotheme, was a Pisces sun and Libra moon. He was born prematurely to tomato farmer parents unexpectedly in Miami, Florida while they were visiting for the weekend, which automatically granted him U.S. citizenship. Poitier spent his childhood in the Bahamas on Cat Island, the youngest of seven children. Living in poverty, the Poitier family had no running water or electricity. When he was 10, he and his family moved to the capital city of Nassau. There he was exposed to the modern world, where he saw his first automobile. At 13, after only a year and a half of formal education, Poitier dropped out of school and worked briefly as a water boy for ditch diggers and later as a laborer in a warehouse. Two years later, at 15, he and some friends were jailed overnight for stealing ears of corn, and his father, worried his son might get into deeper trouble, sent him to live with his older brother, Cyril, in Miami. There, he had an encounter with the Ku Klux Klan. Disliking the racism in the South, he moved to New York with only $3 in his pocket. In November 1943, 16-year-old Poitier, homeless and living in pay-toilet cubicles, lied about his age and entered the Army; the military took him in out of the cold. Disliking Army life, Poitier attempted to fake insanity in an attempt to get discharged. After he was threatened with shock therapy treatments, he admitted to lying about his age. After several weeks of Army-mandated therapy sessions, he was discharged from the Army. Afterwards, he served as a medical attendant at a mental hospital in New York, as well as working as a dishwasher.
One day, while scouring the want ads in the Amsterdam News, a Black newspaper, he answered an ad seeking actors for the American Negro Theatre. At his audition at the theater, he was handed a script and told to read one of the parts. But when he flubbed his lines and spoke in a thick Caribbean accent, the director came up onstage and physically marched Poitier to the door, and angrily told him, "Stop wasting your time—get a job as a dishwasher!" The rejection galvanized Poitier.
A Broadway producer who had stopped by was so impressed by Poitier’s performance that he cast him in a small role in an all-Black version of the Greek comedy “Lysistrata” on Broadway. By late 1949, Poitier had to choose between leading roles on stage and an offer to work for Darryl F. Zanuck in the film No Way Out (1950). His performance in No Way Out, as a doctor treating a Caucasian bigot (played by Richard Widmark, who later became a friend), was noticed and led to more roles. Due to his talent as well as his openness, charm, profound sense of humanity, smiling sympathy, and uncommon sensitivity, each of the roles offered to Poitier were considerably more interesting and more prominent than those most African-American actors of the time were offered. He was a traditional, classical actor in many ways, following in the footsteps of Paul Robeson and Canada Lee, but eminently castable in a new generation of modern roles. Poitier went to South Africa to shoot the British-produced adaptation of Cry, the Beloved Country; his experience of apartheid in there pushed him towards activism. Poitier’s breakthrough role came back in America, with another social commentary picture: Blackboard Jungle, in 1955, in which he played a rebellious high-school student.
In 1958 he starred alongside Tony Curtis in director Stanley Kramer's The Defiant Ones. The film was a critical and commercial success with the performances of both Poitier and Curtis being praised. The film landed eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and Best Actor nominations for both stars, making Poitier the first Black male actor to be nominated for a competitive Academy Award as best actor. Poitier did win the British Academy Film Award for Best Foreign Actor. In 1959, Poitier acted in the first production of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun alongside Ruby Dee on the Broadway stage at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. The play was directed by the illustrious director and dean of the Yale School of Drama Lloyd Richards. The play debuted to standing ovations. That same year Poitier would star in the film adaptation of Porgy and Bess (1959) alongside Dorothy Dandridge. Poitier’s first marriage, to model-dancer Juanita Hardy, with whom he had four daughters, ended in divorce in the mid-1960s. During this marriage, Poitier began a nine-year affair with actress Diahann Carroll. In 1961, Poitier starred in Paris Blues alongside Carroll and Paul Newman.
Also in 1961, Poitier starred in the film adaptation of A Raisin in the Sun. The film dealt with the American racism of the time by contrasting it with Paris's open acceptance of Black people. In 1963 he starred in Lilies of the Field. For this role, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor and became the first Black man to win the award. Poitier worked relatively little over the following year; until Denzel Washington’s win for Training Day in 2002, he remained the only African-American actor to win the Best Actor Oscar. He was soon typecast as a soft-spoken appeaser, albeit one who was always more intelligent than the white characters around him. His role in The Bedford Incident (1965) marked the first time he would play a role in which his character's race was not an issue. After the interracial romance A Patch of Blue in 1967 (which was censored in the South due to a scene of him kissing a white girl), he was the most successful draw at the box office, the commercial peak of his career, with three popular films, To Sir, with Love, and In the Heat of the Night, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. The latter film was arguably the most controversial, with the subject of interracial marriage rendering it unwatchable in the South. To win his role as Dr. Prentice in the film, Poitier had to audition for Tracy and Hepburn at two separate dinner parties. During the height of his career in the late 1960s, Poitier naturally faced criticism from other Blacks, especially militants and others who labeled him a “sellout” and “the white man’s Black man.” Poitier also was aware of the jealousy some fellow Black actors had against him over the many professional opportunities he had received. Poitier, who was active in the civil rights movement in the 1960s and marched with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. before the civil rights leader’s assassination, also received the NAACP’s Hall of Fame Award for his constant depiction of positive screen images.
Poitier was knighted in 1974 (due to his Bahamian citizenship). In 1976, he married Canadian-born actress-model Joanna Shimkus, with whom he had two daughters. During the early 1980s, a man named David Hampton conned his way into the homes of several wealthy and prominent New Yorkers (including a dean at Columbia University) by falsely claiming to be Poitier's son. Playwright John Guare, fascinated by the way the story illustrated the magic that the mere mention of Poitier's name held for people of his generation (especially white people), based his play "Six Degrees of Separation" on Hampton's story. The play was adapted into the movie Six Degrees of Separation (1993), with rapper-turned-actor Will Smith as the character based upon Hampton. His film Stir Crazy (1980) was the highest grossing film directed by a black filmmaker until Scary Movie (2000), directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans almost 20 years later. In the 1990s, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild. In 1992, Poitier became the first Black person to receive the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award. Three years later, he received a Kennedy Center Honor. He retired from acting in 1997. In April 1997, Poitier was appointed ambassador from the Bahamas. In 2002, Poitier received the 2001 Honorary Academy Award for his overall contribution to American cinema. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by then-President Barack Obama in 2007. On January 6, 2022, Poitier died at his home in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 94.
Next, I'll focus on his co-star in Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner: the irascible Taurus Katharine Hepburn.

Overall personality snapshot: He had a conciliatory, tender, unworldly sort of personality, loving beauty and beautiful ideas as much as he abhorred injustice and ugliness. He exuded a wistful, intangible glamour, as if he was king or queen of the forest fairies incarnate, come to entice clumsy mortals to a place exquisitely serene and joyful. He was therefore essentially of an artistic temperament, very intuitive, ethereal, emotionally fragile, but opportunistic and resilient as well. Terrifically sympathetic and agreeable, he was also receptive and understanding, romantic and sensuous, easy-going and somewhat self-sacrificing due to his very strong need for relationships. He loved people, especially witty and fascinating people who stimulated him, and he really came alive at parties or in refined artistic or literary gatherings. Flirtatious and loquacious, he could be a warm, considerate, generous companion, and whether it is romantic or platonic, he brought a touch of elegance and dignity to all his dealings with others. A natural diplomat, he knew how to get the best out of people. Sometimes he was not sure whether he was an intellectual or an artist, but he was one of those people who should always trust their inner hunches rather than dissect and analyze them to the point of confusion. Powerful feelings and intuitions could wash over him, and his need to express them was strong, be it through poetry, music, dance, theatre or social service. His mind was clear and balanced, he could see objectives and soar with ideas, and his instinct was to communicate his inner world effectively and eloquently.
He needed the input and encouragement of other people, and could work well with them. If, however, he tried to intellectualize too much, he may vacillate and lose his confidence, thus halting the creative flow which is so essential for his well-being. At his heart of hearts he was deeply emotional, inspired by a profound reverential love for truth and an intuitive understanding of what is important in life. He wanted to combine intellect and feeling in whatever he did. His exceptional adaptability and sensitivity to group needs meant he could work well as a group facilitator of some kind. But this personal talent was even stronger when it was balanced by a firm sense of self and healthy boundaries, which is something he may have had to work on. He had so much flowing flexibility and such a deep desire for social harmony that he could easily lose touch with his own needs and instinctive responses. He winced painfully if anyone looked at him cross-eyed; conflict was anathema to his emotional nature and threw him off-beam, as if it were a very tangible karate chop. When he could learn to deal effectively with self-doubt, his creativity began to flow. The theatre was a natural environment for him, where he could express his many-sided, sensitive personality with flair and feeling. Likewise the caring professions may have attracted him, as people inspired him and he enjoyed receiving insights from others. He was forever learning, open to the magic of life, and his innocence, elegance and vulnerability helped him to create a world of beauty and delight.
He had a warm and charming nature. His features were refined, his bones delicate and his features classically handsome. His movements were very graceful. He was intuitive and artistic and, at times, over-sensitive. He had a flexible and easily impressionable mind. He could also be a little secretive. He had many levels. It really depended on his mood as to how well his thought processes operated. He was also shrewd, so he was good in business, but he also needed a relatively calm atmosphere, because any tension he felt could lead to incessant worry, which in turn could lead to digestive problems. Career issues brought out and exposed his feelings and emotions. He was naturally compassionate, humane and sympathetic towards others. His good humour and easy-going ways permeated his entire personality, but he needed to counteract the restless and indecisive elements within him. He could be, at times, unreliable, extravagant and self-indulgent. He had problems defining his objectives and accepting responsibilities. However, once he found a goal to work towards, the sky was the limit considering the vast resources that he had at his disposal. It was often difficult for him to maintain his self-confidence and optimism, and he was easily discouraged. However, he tended to feel that there was no problem that cannot be resolved, as long as he was sufficiently informed. He could be quite cynical and fearless in his speech, but he could also be tactless. He had a contradictory side to his nature in that whilst he accepted challenges that stretched him, he also liked to stick with the tried and true.
He belonged to a generation gifted with original and unusual artistic talents, highly imaginative, secretive and visionary. He personified the Piscean Uranus generation in the sense that he felt uncomfortable facing reality, finding the world a difficult place to survive in. He relied on negative escapism as a preferred way of escaping the harsh reality of the world around him. The unknown and the taboo appealed to him, because he wanted to have the freedom to explore and think for himself. He was part of a very artistically talented and creative generation that wanted to escape from the demands of the world around them into a world of excitement and glamour. Members of this generation loved the theater and the cinema, in fact, any sort of creative self-expression. They also believed in the rights of any individual to express themselves. This generation was both idealistic and romantic, selfish and individualistic. Poitier embodied all of these Leo Neptunian ideals. Also, as a member of the Leo Neptune generation, he experienced and fully embraced changes in sexual mores and attitudes, changing the way people approached the whole issue of romantic relationships. Changes were also experienced in the relationships between parents and children, with the ties becoming looser. In Poitier’s case, his juvenile delinquency resulted in him being sent away from his parents to live with other members of the family. Poitier was part of a generation known for its devastating social upheavals concerning home and family. The whole general pattern of family life experienced enormous changes and upheavals; as a Cancer Plutonian, this aspect is highlighted with Poitier making his own way without the support of his family.
Love/sex life: He was the warmest, most sensuous and openhearted lover anyone could ask for. He surrendered himself so sweetly and totally to the act of love that it was as if he was made for nothing else. There was a delicacy, sensitivity and vulnerability about his sexual nature that was both irresistible and alarming. People felt the need to protect him. Of course, they also felt the need to do some other things and that’s where the fun started. For all his passivity and emotional volatility he was, in the end, always a pragmatist. His sweet surrender to love was only a means of heightening his own pleasure and it was never as complete as it appeared. He could duplicate it again and again in the company of many different partners. Yes, he was something of an opportunist and he sometimes took unfair advantage of his undeniable sexual allure, but he was such a loving, gentle, and seductive opportunist that no one really minded.
minor asteroids and points:
North Node: Cancer
Lilith: Libra
Vertex: Gemini
Fortune: Aquarius
East Point: Libra
His North Node in Cancer dictated that he needed to develop the more caring and compassionate side to his personality and try to place less emphasis on the materialistic aspects of his life. His Lilith in Libra dictated that he was dangerously attracted to women who had a glam sort of gumption, women who used their good looks and/or charm as a weapon and wasn’t content with petty bourgeois judgements and limited horizons. His kind of women were those who had beauty, which developed into a coquettish style that entranced men throughout their entire lives, thereby enabling these women to get whatever they wanted from them. His Vertex in Gemini, 8th house dictated that, he had an all consuming need to communicate with his partner. Here, intimacy was equated with communication on a daily basis, whether the conversation involved daily matters or deep issues of a psychological or spiritual nature. If his partner was prone to innuendo and subtle gestures he would not notice, he required that communication be verbal and straight to the point. He had an internal yearning for an inseparable union with and total commitment from another, come what may. This need was so intense that he may have fantasized all manner of unspeakable actions and reactions if the final dream, once attained, was even threatened.
The dark side was that when the reality of his partner does not fit this model (and it rarely did totally) he had a difficult time adjusting if faced with a breach of contract of any sort. Once badly hurt there was a tendency to become jaded and guarded in future relationships, thereby passing up the opportunity to explore interactions which might just fulfill out his intense needs perfectly. His Part of Fortune in Aquarius and Part of Spirit in Leo dictated that his destiny led him to a prominent position in life as a leader of some sort. Fame and prestige brought him success and material rewards. Success came to him when he stepped forward into the spotlight. His soul’s purpose asked him to embrace unique and unconventional life experiences. He felt spiritual connections and the spark of the divine when there was a humanitarian benefit to his efforts. East Point in Libra dictated that he was more identified with the need for a one-to-one relationship with another. Equality, harmony, justice, fair play and a sense of even-handedness were likely to be basic parts of his identity. He chose to relate in a cooperative way (and the extreme to be avoided was playing doormat, appeasing the other person). He also selected (consciously or unconsciously) competitive relationships and engaged in a series of game-playing (literally and figuratively) associations.

He had high sensitivity and elevation through feelings. His heart and his emotions were his driving forces, and he couldn’t do anything on earth if he didn’t feel a strong effective charge. He needed to love in order to understand, and to feel in order to take action, which caused a certain vulnerability which he should (and often did) fight against. He was communicative, quick and mentally agile, and he liked to stir things up. He was likely a havoc-seeker on some level. He was oriented more toward thinking than feeling. He carried information and the seeds of ideas. Out of balance, he lived in his head and could be insensitive to the feelings of others. But at his best, he helped others form connections in all spheres of their daily lives.
modality dominance:
mutable
He wasn’t particularly interested in spearheading new ventures or dealing with the day-to-day challenges of organization and management. He excelled at performing tasks and producing outcomes. He was flexible and liked to finish things. Was also likely undependable, lacking in initiative, and disorganized. Had an itchy restlessness and an unwillingness to buckle down to the task at hand. Probably had a chronic inability to commit—to a job, a relationship, or even to a set of values.

Traveling, whether physically across the globe, on a mental plane or expanding through study was a major theme in his life. He was not only concerned with learning facts, but also wanted to understand the connections formed between them and the philosophies and concepts they stand for. His conscience, as well as foreign travel, people and places was also of paramount importance in his life. He had great interest in the unconscious, and indulged in a lot of hidden and secret affairs. His life was defined by seclusion and escapism. He had a certain mysticism and hidden sensitivity, as well as an intense need for privacy. His personality, disposition and temperament is highlighted in his life. The manner in which he expressed himself and the way he approached other people is also highlighted. The way he approached new situations and circumstances contributed to show how he set about his life’s goals. The general state of his health is also shown, as well as his early childhood experiences defining the rest of his life.
planet dominants:

He brought about complete and profound transformations in his life, good or bad. He felt the need to let go of what was familiar to him and accept new and different ways of being and doing things. There were areas in his life where he had to accept regeneration, which involved the destruction of the old and the creation of the new. He wanted to become whatever it is that he sought. He was romantic, attractive and valued beauty, had an artistic instinct, and was sociable. He had an easy ability to create close personal relationships, for better or worse, and to form business partnerships. He was defined by his inner world; by his emotional reactions to situations, how emotions flowed through him, motivating and compelling him—or limiting him and holding him back. He held great capacity to become a part of the whole rather than attempting to master the parts. He wanted to become whatever it is that he sought.
sign dominants:

Cancer
He needed to explore his world through his emotions. He felt things so deeply that quite often he became a kind of psychic sponge, absorbing the emotions of people around him. As such, he gravitated toward the arts, in general, to theater and film specifically. He could be ambivalent and indecisive simply because he was so impressionable. He also tended to be moody because he felt the very height of joy and the utter depths of despair. Love and romance were essential for him. These fulfilled him emotionally, and he generally flourished within stable relationships. He loved beauty in all its guises—art, literature, classical music, opera, mathematics, and the human body. He usually was a team player who enjoyed debate but not argument. He was, at her best, an excellent strategist and a master at the power of suggestion. Even though he was likely a courteous, amiable person, he was definitely not a pushover. He tried to use diplomacy and intelligence to get what he wanted. At first meeting, he seemed enigmatic, elusive. He needed roots, a place or even a state of mind that he could call his own. He needed a safe harbor, a refuge in which to retreat for solitude. He was generally gentle and kind, unless he was hurt. Then he could become vindictive and sharp-spoken. He was affectionate, passionate, and even possessive at times. He was intuitive and was perhaps even psychic. Experience flowed through him emotionally. He was often moody and always changeable; his interests and social circles shifted constantly. He was emotion distilled into its purest form.
Read more about him under the cut:
A native of Cat Island, the Bahamas (although born, two months prematurely, in Miami during a visit by his parents), Poitier grew up in poverty as the son of farmers Evelyn (nee Outten) and Reginald James Poitier, who also drove a cab. He had little formal education and at the age of 15 was sent to Miami to live with his brother, in order to forestall a growing tendency toward delinquency. In the U.S., he experienced the racial chasm that divides the country, a great shock to a boy coming from a society with a majority of African descent. At 18, he went to New York, did menial jobs and slept in a bus terminal toilet. A brief stint in the Army as a worker at a veterans' hospital was followed by more menial jobs in Harlem. An impulsive audition at the American Negro Theatre was rejected so forcefully that Poitier dedicated the next six months to overcoming his accent and improving his performing skills. On his second try, he was accepted. Spotted in rehearsal by a casting agent, he won a bit part in the Broadway production of "Lysistrata", for which he earned good reviews. By the end of 1949, he was having to choose between leading roles on stage and an offer to work for Darryl F. Zanuck in the film No Way Out (1950). His performance as a doctor treating a white bigot got him plenty of notice and led to more roles. Nevertheless, the roles were still less interesting and prominent than those white actors routinely obtained. But seven years later, after turning down several projects he considered demeaning, Poitier got a number of roles that catapulted him into a category rarely if ever achieved by an African-American man of that time, that of leading man. One of these films, The Defiant Ones (1958), earned Poitier his first Academy Award nomination as Best Actor. Five years later, he won the Oscar for Lilies of the Field (1963), the first African American to win for a leading role. He remained active on stage and screen as well as in the burgeoning Civil Rights movement. His roles in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) and To Sir, with Love (1967) were landmarks in helping to break down some social barriers between blacks and whites. Poitier's talent, conscience, integrity, and inherent likability placed him on equal footing with the white stars of the day. He took on directing and producing chores in the 1970s, achieving success in both arenas. (x)

lupine publishers| Infected Lymphangioma Tongue Presenting as Macroglossia – A Case Report
Tumblr media
Lymphangioma   is   a   benign   hamartomatous   hyperplasia   of   lymphatic  vessels,  with  three-fourths  of  all  cases  occurring  in  the  head and neck region [1-4]. Lymphangioma was first described by Redenbacher in 1828 and Lymphangioma of the tongue was first described  by  Virchow  in  1854  [2].  The  onset  of  Lymphangioma  is  either  at  birth  (60  to  70%)  or  up  to  two  years  of  age  (90%).  It  is  rare  in  adults  [3-6].  Lymphangioma  represent  about  6%  of  the  total  number  of  benign  tumors  of  the  smooth  tissue  in  patients  aged less than 20 years [7]. The oral localization of Lymphangioma is   less   usual,   and   the   most   common   site   in   this   case   is   the   tongue,  especially  the  anterior  two  anterior  [8].  Lymphangioma  usually  affect  the  ventral  part  of  the  tongue  and  are  solitaire  or  circumscribed.  Occasionally,  they  are  associated  with  Cystic  Hygroma  [9].  Rarely  they  are  seen  on  the  palate,  gingiva,  buccal  mucosa,  and  lips.  In  children,  intraoral  lymphangioma,  especially  tongue  lymphangioma  leading  to  macroglossia,  may  cause  speech  disturbances,  poor  oral  hygiene,  mandibular  prognathism,  open  bite, yawning, chewing difficulties, and maxillofacial deformities [6].  Therefore,  appropriate  and  timely  treatment  is  essential  to  avoid  undesirable  consequences,  which  in  most  cases  are  caused  by  macroglossia  due  to  tongue  tumors.  Various  modalities  have  been  applied  for  treatment  of  lymphangioma  of  the  tongue.  Main  aims of the treatment are to give symptomatic relief of pain, edema, lymph  and  blood  leakage,  and  prevent  super  infections,  as  well  as  addressing  cosmetic  concerns.  The  ideal  treatment  is  surgical  excision; however, this cannot be applied in all cases and leaves a scar [10]. Other treatment modalities include cryotherapy, radiation therapy,   steroid   administration,   Sclerotherapy,
Ricciardelli  LJ  and  Richardson  MA  [13]  demonstrated  that Suprahyoid  lymphangiomas  had  a  significantly  higher  rate  of recurrence  than  Infrahyoid  lymphangiomas  [14].  The  commonest complication    of    the    lymphatic    malformations    is   infection,    associated  with  the  growth  of  the  lesion. Lymphocytopenia  has  been documented in all these patients, although a clear correlation with the infection risk must be established [14]. The rapid growth of Lymphangioma can be associated with hemorrhage or can lead to obstruction of the upper respiratory tract, 50% from the children with these lesions requiring tracheotomy [15]. For inexperienced clinicians or in lesions with atypical clinical features a definitive diagnosis  should  be  made  through  biopsy  and histopathological  examination.  Dental  preventive  programs  must  be  performed especially for children with macroglossia until surgery is possible. The inability to perform normal dental hygiene activities increases the risk of caries and gingivitis. Adequate surgery helps patients to keep the tongue inside as a good cosmetic result and they also have less orthognathic deformities [8].ConclusionOral   Lymphangiomas   are   uncommon   lesions   occurring   at   the  dorsal region  of  the  tongue.  Conventional  treatment  with  surgical excision with sufficient depth and width is recommended but  because recurrence  is  common  and  also  not  possible  in  all  the  cases hence  other  treatment  modalities  are  also  used  like cryotherapy, laser therapy  etc are also used; the later also can be used with superficial lesions. Knowledge for correct diagnosis is of fundamental  importance  and  for  proper  therapeutic  implications. Their  early  recognition  allows  proper  initiation  of  treatment and  prevents the occurrence of the complications. Lymphangiomas   are   uncommon   congenital   hamartomas   of   the   lymphatic   system,   usually   diagnosed   in   infancy   and   early   childhood as lobular masses or cystic lesions. They may be present anywhere  on  the  skin  and  mucosa.  The  most  usual  locations  are the head and neck, followed by the proximal extremities, buttocks and trunk. Sometimes they can be located at intestinal, pancreatic and mesenteric  level.  Lymphangioma  rarely  affect  the  oral  cavity. Affected  sites  in  the  oral  cavity  may  include  the  tongue, palate,  gingival  and  oral  mucosa,  lips,  and  alveolar  ridge  of the  mandible  [8]. Two major theories have been proposed to explain the origin of lymphangiomas [11]. The first theory is that the lymphatic system develops from five primitive sacs arising from the venous system. Concerning the head and the neck, endothelial outpouchings from the  jugular  sac  spread  centrifugally  to  form  the  lymphatic system.  Another theory proposes that the lymphatic system develops from mesenchymal clefts in the venous plexus reticulum and spread centripetally   towards   the   jugular   sac.   Finally,   lymphangioma   develop   from   congenital   obstruction   or   sequestration   of   the   primitive lymphatic enlargement. Histopathological classification of lymphangioma is as follows: a) Lymphangioma simplex, small thin-walled lymphatic vessels.b) Cavernous   lymphangioma,   dilated   lymphatic   vessels   with   surrounding adventitia.c) Cystic lymphangioma,  large  lymphatic  spaces  surrounded  by  fibrovascular tissue; and d) Benign      lymphangioendothelioma,      lymphatic     channels      separated by collagen bundles [2]. These categories are somewhat artificial, and many lesions are   combinations   of   categories.   The   differential   diagnosis   for   lymphangioma   includes   Hemangioma,   Amyloidosis,   Congenital   hypothyroidism, Neurofibromatosis,  Mongolism,  Primary muscular hypertrophy. Lymphangioma are known to be associated with  Turner’s  syndrome, Noonan’s  syndrome,  trisomies,  cardiac  anomalies,  fetal  hydrops, fetal  alcohol  syndrome,  and  Familial  pterygium colli [6]. A classification of the lymphangioma of head and neck on the base of the spread the anatomical involvement had been proposed by De Serres LM [12]: a. Stage/class I – Infrahyoid unilateral lesions.b. Stage/class II – Suprahyoid Bilateral Lesions.c. Stage/class III – Suprahyoid or Infrahyoid Unilateral Lesions.d. Stage/class IV – Suprahyoid Bilateral Lesions.e. Stage/class V – Suprahyoid or Infrahyoid Bilate electrocautery,   embolization,  ligation,  laser  surgery,  and  radiofrequency  tissue  ablation.    Successful    treatment    necessitates    inclusion    of    a    surrounding  border  of  normal  healthy  tissue  without  damage  of  vital  structures.  The  following  case  report  is  of  a  patient  with  Lymphangioma of the tongue and its management.Case Report A  young  female  of  20  years  presented  to  the  department  of  ENT  at  Mayo  Institute  of  Medical  Sciences,  Barabanki  with  chief  complaints  of  progressively  increasing  size  of  the  tongue  for  the  past few years with difficulty in swallowing and dribbling of saliva from the mouth. Recently she started developing difficulty in eating food  and  closing  the  mouth  due  to  fullness.  Her  speech  was  also  affected  but  her  sensation  of  taste  was  intact.  The  patient  also  complained  of  bleeding  from  the  lesion  site  on  incurring  trauma  like  mild  injury  tooth  during  mouth  closure.  She  also  complained  of   tongue   bite   during   mastication.   On   inspection   tongue   was   there  was  a  reddish  blue  colored  marked  soft  tissue  swelling  involving  entire  tongue  with  numerous  papillary  and  vesicle-  like  projections  which  made  it  appear  irregular  and  granular  (Figure  1). On palpation, the swelling was soft, non-tender and pebbly. The surface  was  irregular.  The  mouth  opening  was  normal  and  there  was  no  restriction  of  functions  of  the  tongue  however  slurring  of  speech  was  noted.  On  the  basis  of  history  and  clinical  features  a  provisional diagnosis of vascular anomaly of the tongue was made and  the  patient  was  subjected  to  Fine  needle  aspiration  cytology  of  the  tongue  which  was  inconclusive  hence  later  a  small  biopsy  was  done  under  local  anesthesia  which  turned  out  to  be  Infected  Lymphangioma Tongue (Figure 2). Her systemic examination did not reveal any other congenital anomaly. Since the lesion involved whole of the tongue (both anterior and posterior) hence we decided not to operate and go with Sclerotherapy of the lesion. Patient was admitted and properly investigated and taken up for the procedure after explaining the risks and expected response. 1 ml SETROL (Sodium Tetradecyl Sulphate) with dilution was used for each side of the tongue, the patient experienced swelling of the tongue in the evening  which  resolved  by  the  morning  and  otherwise  tolerated  well. A total of 2 such injections were given at an interval of 1 month which resoled the lesion, her macroglossia got reduced and papilla on  the  dorsum  of  tongue  reappeared  and  all  other  symptoms
