There's something so poetic about how El is the centre of all the chaos, wanted by the government and military and Mike is her strong calm that doesn't hesitate to get sucked into her storm and stand by her side in the face of any conflict. Like guys. This little boy did not hesitate to protect her and stand off in the face of the government to defend her, going against all the typical patriotic rule-following norms of an American Suburbanite Middle class nuclear family. He comes from pure safe normalcy but doesn't hesitate to run in the other direction heading towards chaos and danger if it means she's there... because he feels safest with her and is driven by the instinct to protect her. 😭🩷 There's something so beautiful and inspiring about someone as hurt and troubled and chaotic as El being loved in such a simple, unconditional way. Mike doesn't see her for the chaos she represents which surrounds her, he sees her for the innocent goodness that she actually is— her calm, gentle demeanour and the warmth it makes him feel. He understands that all the danger that comes with being with her is through no fault of her own, and actively works to help combat all the forces against her. He knows that despite being the centre of the chaos she's not the cause of it, she's the remedy for the effect of it and that is an undeserved, exhausting punishment yet a burden she bears regardless without complaint— a sign of her innate goodness which Mike recognises and loves her for all the more. Even moreso, he works to share that burden with her and criticise it because he sees how innocent and undeserving she is of the responsibility infringed upon her. His willingness to take all of this on is so wholesome and exactly the kind of sweet effort-full love that a character like El deserves, which is so gratifying for the audience to see.

coming on here to quickly rant abt remadora. Okk yess I know ‘another wolfstar shipper shitting on remadora’ here me out okay!!! Just for a sec!! I read the Harry Potter books for the first time back in 2017 and remadora was my shit. Remus was my second favourite male character and tonks was my second fave female character. (Harry and cho were my first faves — yes I self inserted into Harry and had the biggest crush on cho — yes I cried when they broke up — shut up we all had our embarrassing phases!!)

Anyways back to remadora, I just thought they were so cute together, even tho it felt a little random. But one thing that I remember that really pissed me off was the ship name. I never understood why it was ‘remadora’ and not ‘ronks’. Tonks hated being called Dora!! I remember ranting abt this on my Wattpad acc (yes I know SHHHH) when I was reviewing all the Hp ships.

I don’t ship it anymore (obviously lol) and looking back, I think my issue with the ship name is lowkey symbolic for my key problem with remadora — it basically removes everything that made her interesting in the first place and reduced her to just Another Woman Character in the series. When she got with Remus, she became more mellow, more feminine, more complacent — which are fine traits btw — but that’s not tonks!! Now as I’m older, and re-reading the series, I see a lot of subtext for a gender non-conforming and possibly genderqueer person forced into a heterosexual relationship simply becoz jo didn’t want ppl thinking Remus was gay and coz she had this weird thing abt all ‘good’ women being mothers.

Which brings me to tonk’s pregnancy — I wouldn’t mind a storyline for tonks having a child — I just hate how jkr had to fit it into this whole nuclear family model and get her and Remus to get married. I feel like a more compelling, or at least consistent characterisation would have tonks having a one night stand with Remus after they were both mourning their cousin/uncle/lover’s death. Shit happens sometimes. And it would be interesting to see Tonks and Remus grapple with this and what it means for their child.

Another head cannon I saw on tik tok was that Tonks had a threesome with Fleur and Bill and since polyamory wasn’t socially acceptable she asked Remus to be the stand in legal father — and ofc Remus would say yes coz he’s Remus!! This hc sounded wild to me at first but they all gave me queer vibes and it just makes me happy so now this is the headcanon I stick with lol.

Anyways not every woman has to have a husband and 2-3 kids to be a good person jkr!! Families are complex! Women are complex! And Tonks deserves better imo.

P.s. if you ship remadora that’s completely okay!! This is just my opinion!! I’ve seen remadora shippers who don’t water down tonk’s character/subtextual queerness — I just hate how jkr depicted the ship in canon.

writing complete aus (as in, not set in the canon universe aus) is always so interesting to me. because I’ll be writing this and it’s like, yeah, these are the characters. I wouldn’t be able to just change the names and have it still work. I am specifically writing about these characters. But also there are some things different from their canon versions, naturally, because they have different lived experiences. And I guess that’s part of the fun—seeing how a character would act if x didn’t happen but y did, y’know? And obv being in a whole different universe also impacts things. I think it’s fun, but also difficult. Especially when I’m like “am I actually writing these characters or are they just ocs with the same names and appearances?” but, like, I can’t just substitute the characters for other characters, because it’s still the characters I’m writing about, just different as a consequence of their world

I always found Captain America: Civil War very side-eye worthy because the plot is kicked off by a non-government-affiliated-but-still-American-based militarized organization going into a foreign country and recklessly getting civilians killed trying to obtain a weapon of mass destruction, and then when foreign countries/ the UN demand accountability Steve just says "the safest hands are still our own" and the movie + fandom treats him like he's correct for this. Idk, knowing that the MCU collaborates with the US military industrial complex just makes the entire Team Cap side seem like deliberate propaganda than just an unintended implication.

Dr. Two Brains did a double take at seeing the reflection of his old self staring at him back in the mirror. He rubbed his eyes with his hands and shook his head a bit, trying to regain his composure. "So Professor Goody-goody is back again huh. I haven't talked with you in a long time." Two Brains calmed himself down. He felt silly being startled at seeing his good side pop up again through a reflective surface. He hadn't seen that side much in a couple of years ever since his accident. Despite what people thought. The accident that caused him to fuse with Squeaky didn't create another person inhabiting the body of Steven Boxleitner. It had actually split his mind and soul into two sides of the same coin, with the good one being represented by Steven and the evil side being represented by Dr. Two Brains and far more dominant than his good one. "Well I am back." Steven responded with a shrug. Two Brains almost expected a but after that last word, but Steven did not respond further, just stared at him. He ignored the shadowed look Steven was having, quickly assuming it to be a trick of the light. "What brings you back now, trying again to make a futile plea for me to give up my life of crime and go back to my old boring life." Dr. Two Brains remarked sarcastically with a roll of his eyes. This is what would usually happen when his good side appeared. He would beg and plead with Two Brains to stop ruining his good name, to give him back control and to be free of the cheese obsessions. Two Brains of course would taunt and ignore him, he liked the villain life he has, with some minor issues of course. They really argued back and forth about their body's moral compass. The only thing those two sides ever agreed on was Becky. Besides rest and relaxation periods, Becky's well being and happiness were the only times the good and evil sides of Two Brains merged in order for her emotional and physical meeds being met. They would also never have their arguments in front of her. Neither side would ever get over that haunting and scared look she gave them when both sides first fought for control. Two Brains never wanted this daughter too look at him with such fear ever again. "Actually the reason I'm here is to mainly criticize your work skills as a villain." Steven responded with a sassy tone. Dr. Two Brains scoffed. "MY skills! I'll have you know buster I'm still the top villain around here. I'm still at the top of my game." Two Brains was really offended at Steven's remarks. How dare this goody goody side of his dare and try to critique HIS villainy. Steven snorted as if he heard a funny joke, further irritating the mad scientist. "Not from where I standing Dr. Two Brains. You have become more lazy and predictable ever since the day of the accident. You claim to be proud of your "reputation" as a top villain, but you haven't dealt with that slander the news broadcasted this morning for the whole city to see." Steven spoke in a scolding, lecture tone. "Why should I care what this city thinks of me? These people are gullible and moronic. They will forget about it soon." Two Brains responded with a roll of his eyes. Steven frowned, very unhappy with the mouse man's response. A sharp, but brief pain shot through Two Brains head as he immediately clutched the side where the impromptu headache came from. "This is why you should exactly care Two Brains!" Steven spoke with an dark and angry tone. His expression appearing more menacing than what would be normal for the good and kind hearted professor. "You let those morons at your old work use you like a guinea pig, allowing those ignoramus neanderthal police force to entrap you in a cage of tension, being afraid to even go out and commit a useless cheese because of some dimwitted law enforcement breathing down your neck." Two Brains clutched his ears. He didn't know what was worse, the return od his headache on full blast or Steven's yelling. He could no longer feel Squeaky's presence, only Steven's, but this time he couldn't tell the difference. @melodythebunny @dualnaturedscientist
