Just saw your post about Ghibli + elements of grotesque with the Nausicaa gifset and how you wrote an essay comparing it to Shinto philosophy and I had to ask - you didn't happen to write that for an IB film class did you?? Cause that would be a WILD coincidence if so, bc I'm doing IB film rn and one of our extended essay examples was literally exactly that; an analysis/comparison of Ghibli movies and Shinto philosophy/religion and it was really really good.
Even if not, that's so cool!! I adore Ghibli and totally agree with the points you left in the tags of that post. Ghibli is about confronting the uncomfortable and ugly and grotesque and scary and acknowledging it as a valid and necessary part of life. Everything in balance!! Sure there are some more cutesy kiddy films which I feel have become more mainstream but especially films like Nausicaa have very real and important messages that often get overlooked :( I was really scared of Nausicaa when I was a child and now it's one of my favourite films!!
Anyway, you're awesome, I agree with your takes and Ghibli rocks 💪
Hi anon!
So this is going to be a wild journey, strap in.
I don't know what IB Film is. I did my thesis in a final year university unit specifically where we all developed our own thesis subject, had a supervisor, and it was basically a test run to do first class Honours (which lets you bypass a Masters degree and go straight to the PhD, which I then intended to do). It was a limited class that only had about 10 people in it, I believe. My supervisor was the head of the film department.
Now, this was back in about 2004. Shit I'm old. Ghibli wasn't a household name. It wasn't streaming anywhere. You couldn't get DVDs easily, and if you wanted them you had to make sure you had a region unlocked DVD player to deal with the DRM and then buy them from overseas. Most people were only getting exposed to these films if they were regular cinema-goers, or if they were an aggressive pirate via downloading torrents (which I was). The only place you could get Ghibli merch pretty much was Japan. It absolutely did not have the kind of traction it has now, no one could do a class on it outside of Japan because the majority of students would have no idea what you were talking about.
I think Disney/Lasseter had picked up the option to do dubs, but for the most part, if we were seeing these at the cinema, they were subbed.
So that's the context! That was in an era where I was the one directly getting all of my friends on Livejournal and in person, into Studio Ghibli. I went to the Ghibli film festival back before Spirited Away came out, and that got me hooked years previous.
In 2004 I did my thesis. At the time I was the only person in the English speaking world to do a thesis specifically on my thesis subject. It had been covered briefly in sentences like 'Miyazaki practices Shinto' etc. and there was one other unpublished thesis I was able to find that talked about concepts of Shinto and some of Miyazaki's films which helped me a lot with my thesis.
I went on a deep dive into Shinto. Because it was a thesis, I had to research a lot into the difference between folk and shrine Shinto (Ghibli films lean very 'folk' but there are moments of shrine Shinto), and ended up with a pretty baller reference list. But many, many, many more resources online and off have come out since. I'd find the thesis very easy to do if I was doing it now.
Because I was the first to kind of present my findings in a thesis like this, the thesis ended up getting published in a book on animism and then journeyed further on because it was of interest to people who are interested in representations of animism in mass media, especially popular mass media.
The specific focus of my thesis statement was the difference between the black and white puritanical morality of Disney, the most popular animation studio for children and adults at the time, versus Miyazaki's mixed morality and more nuanced explorations of good and evil, villains, heroes and antiheroes in Ghibli animations, and how that was at least partly founded in the difference between a more Christianised versus Shinto mindset in relation to nature and intersections with humanity.
Idk, something like that.
The thesis did well! I got my high distinction, got my invitation into first class Honours, and then was too sick to go on and get the PhD and teach about these things, which was what I fully intended to do!
My thesis got some traction over the years, published in a few places both online and in at least two books (one that I own, the other I forget because it's been oh my god like 20 years), so the idea got around!
Anon, there is actually a chance - a small chance - that the only reason you're getting this essay subject in a more standardised curriculum is because my thesis made its way into the public eye 20 years ago and got quite popular. It was never peer reviewed or anything, it wasn't a PhD thesis and didn't need to be, it was mostly just a very well-researched (if I do say so myself) collation of thoughts on the subject as someone is also a practicing animist. In retrospect I really wish I'd incorporated more of Zipe's teachings but he was in a completely different field to media studies and my supervisor didn't know about him to suggest him.
Discussions of Ghibli, Miyazaki and Shinto became a lot more popularised as Ghibli got more popular and people in the western world discovered that there were already a published essay (at the time people could read it without paying for it as I'd put it up online for folks to access) that linked to other sources and the unpublished essay I'd found. So...
Um, yeah, that's wild, because I know that this wasn't a thing in universities 20 years ago, because I was so desperate for resources I was emailing around and asking universities so I didn't have to figure so much out myself. 😅

The Good News and Bad News of my current, ongoing life as we speak (the latter of which will be continued!)
For those who’ve read my previous post on why I’ve bid a tragic farewell to hands-down my FAVORITE anime/video game convention (AND convention center!) to have ever existed (San Japan FTW, always and forever!)…there’s a reason for that.
Good news: I had a fun experience here, as always! Bought myself merch, awesome keychains, cute plushies, played video games (old and new!), took photos of awesome cosplayers, the usual of what I’ve always loved coming to SJ. However…
Bad news: It’s likely possible (dare I say, the likeliness is automatically at 100%) that this is going to be my final year at such an awesome convention.
I repeat: It’s likely possible (again: likeliness: 100%!) that this will be my final year attending at San Japan, let alone visiting San Antonio for such a fun event that’s always been important to me ever since I found out this place existed in the city I’ve lived in since childhood. And if this DOES happen to be my final year, then…oh well. At least my final experience here went out with a bang, and never in silence.
But why is this going to be my final year attending to my favorite convention? Well…to be continued…next post!

Spending 12 days in Japan was truly an unforgettable experience. I had such a good time bouncing around from city to city meeting some of my Japanese punk heroes and meeting other punks from around the world also on vacation was rad. though I'll admit I mostly just did the trip on the fly I did however make sure to do something every night even if one plan failed. There's literally so much to do in Japan it's impossible to do it all and see it all in 2 weeks.
Kappunk fest weekend was Insanely fun. 3 non stop days of punk bands from all around. Everyone drinking out in the streets and then staying up late at night for the after parties. the gigs themselves were really awesome. I saw some bands I love and some new ones I had never heard of before.
During the week I unfortunately due to poor planning, missed the life gig but I spent it out at in Osaka meeting locals and making memories with 2 new friends i had made. Although I absolutely LOVE Japanese punk, I wanted to make sure I did other shit than just go party at gigs.
Later in the week I met up with my homies out in Hiroshima and visited the Atomic Bomb building as well as the museum, which, by the way is totally different when you read about it in school or watching a documentary. being there and seeing the building and seeing the first hand accounts and remnants of that day is truly gut wrenching and infuriating that, that's how we chose to go about it during the war.
After that Masaki took me to the record shop ran by his friend after a few decompression beers and I brought back some gold from the shop. Turns out the lead singer (Guy) from Gudon owns it and after I wrapped up my shopping we went out to eat and drink with members of asphalt, which turned into to be a really fun night though at times I was left out of the loops because obviously I didn't speak Japanese nor did I understand it 😅. we did the physique and Scum Raid gig the following night and had a blast further meeting new people. I even got hit on by a cougar but she was too drunk 😂
The following days I went back to Osaka to be in time for the Framtid, Ferocious X gig. spent the night prior doing some record shopping and meeting up with friends I met during kappunk which was really nice. the following day was the gig and Nothing could prepare me for getting to meet some legends. I met members of Zyanose, Gloom and Disturd. Makino gave me a fist bump during Framtid's set and it felt like being blessed by a Saint 😂 truly a legendary night not to have been missed. I bought some merch and scooped up Framtid's set list.
The following day my buddy and I waiting for his friend to get up from the hotel room got invited over to King Cobra, where we found Sakana and a few other punks still drinking from the night before. we shot the shit for a few beers then gave them our thanks for meeting them hanging out and dipped back to Tokyo where sadly my journey neared its end.
nothing too memorable happened that night except a mad dash to buy last minute gifts for friends however the whole trip started to sink and I felt some sadness for departing from my new friends and Japan as a whole but I do plan to return so hopefully next time I'll have another fun adventure!

Half Time and More Merch!
This is the 41st post in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Countdown: 40 days left until release!
Today's topic: Half Time and some more Merch!
Woo-hoo! 🎉 We've reached the halfway point in my countdown towards the release of the Investigations Collection. We started at 80 days, 40 days with 40 posts have passed, 40 days and 40 more posts to go! 💃 Only 40 days! That's just a little over a month! Are you getting more excited? Because I certainly am!
I've been talking a lot about the Investigations Collection website, all the information we've gotten about changes and extras and everything, new art and all kinds of other details I've noticed in trailers and Co. I still have some topics left in that regard but it's probably not going to fill another 40 posts so I'm thinking about expanding my topic range, maybe to the content of the Investigations games themselves or additional content for Investigations outside of the games like the manga releases, for example. I'm not entirely sure though what would fit the best for the countdown to the collection specifically so I'm still thinking about it. If you guys have anything that you'd like me to talk about, feel free to tell me!
For today, I'm going to talk a little about some more merch I've found. These ones are available on the e-Capcom store, the store itself is Japan-exclusive but you can also order internationally via WorldShopping. (Never done this before so I don't know how well that works.)
Tumblr media
The one item that caught my eye immediately is the Framed Key Art of the Investigations Collection! How awesome is that! It's quite expensive but wow, I'd love to have this on my wall! This art is beautiful enough that it definitely deserves that privilege.
Tumblr media
Another one I love is this leather-like file with a stamp of Miles' image on the cover. Have your very own Organizer to sort all of your evidence and profiles in! 😄 Very thematically appropriate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And speaking of thematically appropriate, there's even a tea cup with saucer themed after Miles and the Investigations Collection! Apart from the image of Miles himself on the bottom, they're really styled after the tea set Miles uses in the game. So pretty! I'm an avid tea drinker myself so I'm actually quite tempted to buy this...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other Investigations-related stuff I want to mention is a floor mat of Kay's Yatagarasu's badge (interesting choice) and this cross-shaped acrylic stand of Miles in his pose from the collection key art. I'm a tiny bit disappointed that he's the only character who gets one of these. Several of the other Investigations characters would look amazing on these especially in their key art poses! It still looks great for him though! That pose of his is just epic!

Did we really get a SHOW from Niall AND a new song with Zayn on it AND a Zayn interview and photoshoot? I guess it is a lucky day, Happy St Patrick’s Day to us!
“Happy Paddy’s day to my fellow Irish and anyone who celebrates our great country today,” said our resident leprechaun Niall, and “love how I’ve got more texts today than I got on my birthday,” haha well glad he’s getting the Irish love- and he played a show!! He streamed from the Toucan pub in London- it’s short, not even 15 minutes and only four songs (you can watch the part of the stream right before it where they… make a sandwich?? though if you’re wanting to stretch it out), but damn so good! He opened with two old favorites from Flicker, aw nice to hear you, somehow makes the fun poppy Black and White sound like it was always meant to be a tearjerker slow song, and then worked everyone into a frenzy by covering U2’s With or Without you and rightly so, that’s an awesome cover! No complaints about that set at all, heck yeah!
Zayn’s new song came out today, not last night; I thought I just got confused by timezone stuff but actually it wasn’t me! Something weird happened and they delayed it and it was super confusing (the term ‘technical difficulties’ was used so that clears up nothing) but anyway it’s out now! Technically it’s not Zayn’s new song but Ingrid Michaelson’s with a Z feature but anyway it’s so pretty, worth the wait. Ingrid said she wrote the song the night Biden won the election, about the intense relief she felt, that she hopes it can be a song of hope as we come out of COVID, and that Zayn reached out to her to let her know he was a fan and he’d like to work together. Merch for the song is available in Ingrid’s shop, and that’s really pretty too!
And NOT ONLY THAT, Zayn’s INTERVIEW is out as well plus PICTURES and wow they are, yes you guessed it, also extremely pretty! He’s always a model but we see him so infrequently that it’s always shocking all over again to be confronted with just how damn perfect his face is, and they show him off very well indeed. And he SPEAKS; it’s very brief but the few glimpses inside he allows us are always a gift. He says, "I feel like, in general, no one is listening at the moment. With everything going on, and in a world of unnecessarily overexposed opinions, with people yelling at each other to see who makes the most noise, I feel like no one is being heard. People love to talk, but nobody likes to listen," "I think the quarantine has affected me in the same way as everyone else. I am not a person that spends too much time outside home or outdoors and I like to have my own space, so that is the only advantage, other than that now it is also driving me crazy," and less thoughtful but my personal favorite, I love salty Zayn telling haters what’s what, “if I haven’t worked with them, it’s because I don’t want to work with them yet.” Plus: "It really is not easy to have some form of creative freedom or control. The truth is that I have to continually go against the grain when people tell me to do things a certain way, but my stubbornness and my willingness to want to do things differently help me get through it.”
An article about Harry talks to Kid Harpoon, who Harry continues to outsource that part of Fine Line promo to-- as Harry’s stand in he talks about songs they wrote together in Japan that didn’t make it on FL including one that “nearly made it to the record” that “he and Styles are still obsessed with,” saying “it’s the same as the Watermelon thing with this song, it’s got… there’s a certain feeling in it, we’re just going to have to chip away at it and hopefully get it.” Fans-- HS3 is coming? Lol WHAT?? Like someday yeah but as usual I do NOT know how you got from that point A to that point B kids, it is not coming anytime soon. We also saw a video of Harry (via a dad!) saying “hi I’m Harry” for a fan, we KNOW Harry, and looking super cute, we also know that already, truly nothing new there, but news to me was that after Harry’s performance there was a spike of interest in leather pants and boas, I look forward to the fashion I see at the grocery store getting wild in the coming months; nothing about interest in Clueless jackets though, sorry Harry. Mitch posts to say, “as the grammy hangover wanes, just want to say how proud I am of my friend Harry,” and the Daily Mail included Harry in a layout of “pop princesses” at the grammys, nice to see the tabloids printing some TRUTH for once!

The Red Devil’s Chronicles’ Devil May Cry January 2022 News Updates: Crypto Trouble, Anniversaries, Merch, etc.
Tumblr media
Hey, how's it going? Hope everyone's 2022 year has started off all right. Here are all of January 2022's Devil May Cry related news updates I've found:
1. There's going to be another Devil May Cry V pachislot game.
2. CAPCOM is looking for content creators from USA.
3. January marks Johnny Bosch (Nero)'s and Morikawa Toshiyuki (Dante)'s birth dates.
4. The Deluxe version of Asmus Toys' DMCV Vergil figure comes with spiral swords. b) Speaking of figures, I came across this really nice-looking Trish one on Ebay from H3ll.
5. January marks the anniversaries of Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, and Devil May Cry 4.
6. Prime1Studio celebrates Devil May Cry's 20th anniversary by selling certain merch that can only be found in the Shinjuku Marui Annex, in the Prime 1 Studio Gallery of Japan. b)  Another thing you can find there.
7. Speaking of merch, the CAPCOM Cafe's holding another Devil May Cry V event this month with these cute little things available. b)  And Dante's feature on the CAPCOM store's new art promo.  c)  And the CAPCOM store has these Devil May Cry V themed manicure sets. d)  And more.
8. Crypto/NFT groups are stealing Casey Edwards' Devil May Cry V sound tracks. 9.  The Visions of V manga got more updates.
My Thoughts On These Updates:
1. It's too bad that these pachislot/pachinko titles are exclusive to Japan, but we can thank Youtube for some of the wacky footage produced (these are from the previous pachislot title).
2. If I lived in USA and knew what to share from my own content I've created over the years, I would've loved to participate in the Capcom Creators program.
3. A happy (belated) birthday to Johnny and Toshiyuki. Great voice actors for sure.
4. I need more money....to have whatever figures Asmus toys creates. They definitely have improved on their figure building. I'm not much into female character usually, but that Trish figure looks really nice.
5. Happy anniversary to the 3 Devil May Cry games that came out January many years ago. I remember after playing the 1st Devil May Cry how excited I was to play DMC2. Even though I've played games since my preschool/kindergarten years, I still didn't understand gaming at first, I thought DMC2 was better than DMC1 due to the visuals, and stuff. But as the years went by, I understood more and can definitely see the reasons for the backlash with this game. But without it, there wouldn't have been a DMC3 to make up for the mistakes. And it had some pretty great concepts with it, too. Speaking of DMC3...Ahh, Special Edition. After playing the original 3rd, I got hyped when I found out that you can play as Vergil (my 2nd favourite character), fight Jester as a mini boss, and unlock more bonus content. Despite the lack of extra levels, I still enjoyed it. DMC4 on the other hand, I was so hyped about this game until I saw how repetitive and unfinished it was. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the cinematics, characters, and gameplay mechanics, but this game definitely needed more stuff happening.
6 and 7. That's awesome what CAPCOM features on their promo art for their store, and those acrylic stands in the next cafe event look so adorable. Japan really has better things when it comes to video game stuff. I got curious and looked up Devil May Cry stuff on Ebay, and I found out that you can get quite a bit of the CAPCOM store items on there, especially the Prime1Studio statues. Thing is, I'm not sure if Japan ships to Canada. Even if they did, it's very costly (according to the prices displayed). It's interesting that they have a manicure set 'cause I happen to be an aesthetician (someone who does nails and skincare stuff), so these would be interesting to have for my own enjoyment when taking care of my nails, especially the fact that they come with oils that are supposed to smell like the character fragrances.
8. If there's one thing I can't freaking stand, it's art thieves. Always get permission from artists if you want to share or sell something from them, even if they're credited properly. I've had to deal with a few Devil May Cry Facebook groups (and I got kicked out of 3 of them for this reason) for sharing fan art without the artists' permissions. Yes, giving proper credit like profile links and such is great, but please...please...PLEASE ask permission from them before sharing their stuff? If anything, you're just a clout chaser that’s stealing their clout and motivation of wanting to continue making any more content more than helping them out. I admit that I made these mistakes on my Facebook pages in the past, but I've removed all of them since 2020 and don't plan on reposting fan content anymore (except mod links) , unless I get permission which I will show proof of. I really hope that Casey gets his songs back. 9.  I've been seeing some image previews and fan reactions on Twitter often of the Visions of V manga's continuation, but I still need to catch up. Glad it's still ongoing compared to the DMC1 comics and DMC3 mangas.

"Toei dropped the ball in promoting Crystal". If this ain't the truth and it makes me so mad. Sailor Moon is internationally known due mostly to the anime and it feels like they did diddly squat to promote it to new fans. The only PR it ever got was from fans excited it was returning. Toei WTH!?
And I'm also sad all we get for the dream arc is two movies both cause of the wait for it to come to the states and cut content. It's the most different from the 90s and the 1 I prefer and I hope they adapted it nice.
I'm also worried for Stars as well because we don't even know how they plan to adapt it. With KNY at least the train arc wasn't that long and they adapted it nice but so much happens in the final arc I want it to get a tv season but then that would throw off the flow of things. Tv series, then movies then tv series? Ugh. Did we ever get a reason why the dream arc was a movie and not a tv season.
TBH I didn't really like Crystal. I just liked the humor and art style from the 90s better but I wish Crystal was treated better. I feel it shoulda had more poured into it then an average seasonal show. Fans expectations were let down and it really drove a wedge in the fandom which was the saddest to me. Just wanted to give my 2 cents. Thanx for listening.
Preach, anon. That's something that's always really bothered me too: Crystal's seeming disinterest in creating new fans. This is Sailor Moon, a beloved worldwide phenomenon. I get that it'd be harder to capture that magic again because the 2010s/2020s are so different from the 90s, but I firmly believe that Sailor Moon is timeless and younger generations (or hell, even older people who missed out on the phenomenon in the 90s/early 2000s) can and will enjoy it.
Like, I'm living proof of that. I got into Sailor Moon in 2008 at 13 years old- in a really stagnant period where nothing new was being made and nothing was promoted. I literally only found Sailor Moon because someone's signature on a random site had a picture of Rei in it and I thought she was pretty. Yet I still fell in love with Sailor Moon, I felt its magic. Crystal could have easily been something that created scores of new fans, especially in its native country of Japan (where the Precure series is still going strong).
Yet Toei was more interested in capitalizing on older fans and nostalgia. They did very little to promote the series or engage with people who were unfamiliar with Sailor Moon. Everyone should have been talking about Crystal, like they did for FMA Brotherhood. But the hype for Crystal was mostly contained to the preexisting Sailor Moon fandom itself, which is really sad. It really can't be said enough: Toei fucking dropped the ball.
It's also really frustrating to see the differences between magical girl properties Toei actually cares about and Sailor Moon. Precure gets awesome animation every season, 2 movies per season, tons of advertisements and merch, beautiful and unique transformation sequences for every Cure... the list goes on and on. Sailor Moon Crystal gets merch and remakes of the 90s anime transformations and that's pretty much it. I love Precure, but it wouldn't even exist without Sailor Moon. Like I said in that previous post, Sailor Moon has made Toei untold amounts of money and they've been so disrespectful to it ever since it stopped being one of their primary cash cows.
Also, I'm worried about Stars too. It really needs to be a season but like you said it would be super weird if the format got messed up like that so it will probably be a couple of movies again (if it ever gets adapted at all). And I'm pretty sure no official explanation has been given as to why Eternal was a 2-part movie instead of a season, but fans speculate it's because season 3 of Crystal was unprofitable (thanks to Toei dropping the ball on seasons 1-2 and killing off most people's interest) so they went the cheaper route of shorter runtime.
Also yeah, speaking of someone who has been active in the fandom for over a decade, Crystal really drove a wedge between fans. A lot of people (including myself) felt the need to defend it because we'd been waiting for it for so long and some people felt the need to voice their (understandable) frustrations and anger. Everyone seems to unanimously agree that season 3 was good (and reception for Eternal is warm based on what we've seen of it) but the first two seasons were brutally controversial.

Came from Insta to ask you what are probably the most blasphemous questions you've read, to date: As a person who has never owned nor bought physical music copies, why do people, (aside from obtaining exclusive merch and supporting the artist) collect vinyls/records (and especially tapes and CDs) when a near-infinite database of studio-quality music tracks (Topic) and fan-remixed music tracks (such as AJFA with added bass) exist on YouTube?
I know Bandcamp directly supports the artist and their music, though what is the appeal in having several different versions of musical formats (vinyl, tape, CD, etc.)?
Why do people continue to heavily seek out first-press and Japan(ese)-edition vinyls? Are there really night and day differences between US and Japanese vinyls? What about CDs?
Why should and shouldn't I have an interest in physical music copies and/or having a collection?
From what I can tell, fans (understandably) want to support artists as directly as they can manage.
Thank you for the awesome recs, btw. I have and continue to discover lots of albums through you.
These are great questions! I can’t speak for most other people, so I will answer based on my own personal perspectives.
I’m 44 years old, and first got into music when I was about 12. Back then, the only way to listen to music was to obtain physical copies of the available media. I grew up in a very conservative part of Utah, so finding metal music took a lot of effort (especially without a driver license). Acquiring albums required so much planning and effort that I came to appreciate every one I bought. I listened to them repeatedly to milk all the possible enjoyment they could offer. Through this exercise, I forged a deep bond with the music, and ownership of something physical felt special.
When MP3s became I thing, I jumped on the bandwagon and practically lived on Napster (I was in college…the perfect timing). I acquired thousands of files and initially felt like a king. Then I discovered what I call “the tyranny of choice.” With practically the entire library of recorded music at my fingertips, I had trouble picking anything to listen to. The indecision was nearly paralyzing. The files were easily available and accessible. None were particularly cumbersome to acquire, and thus no bond was formed. I realized that the majority of what I had acquired lacked any real significance to me. Stated differently, all that music was valueless to me. I went back to collecting physical media again.
Everyone utilizes or consumes music in a different way. Some keep it on as background noise, or put it on for drives or workouts. I treat music listening with deep focus and attention, always trying to forge an emotional connection. When that connection is made, it’s a magical moment. I’m grateful for this, and want to make sure the artist has my support and thanks. I feel like my dollars are well spent by purchasing the artists’ work. If an album is particularly good, I’ll buy it in multiple formats to increase that support (I don’t do that too often).
I like to display my albums in my listening room, kind of like trophies. They are visual reminders of the audio adventures I’ve had listening to them. I really like the cover art that appears on metal albums. There’s no comparing a 12” x 12” album cover with the postage stamp size image on a phone screen.
I don’t usually try to collect old first-pressings or Japanese imports (I do try to get 1st pressings when they are new, though). Japan historically had a reputation for good vinyl pressings because the pressing plants would limit the amount of copies that would be pressed from each stamper (American and Euro factories would wear them out, leading to what some believe to be inferior pressings). This isn’t something you’d notice without very high end equipment and bad luck with a domestic pressing. As far as I know, CDs are the same everywhere. Japanese CDs usually have bonus tracks because the cost of imports from the US was actually less than the cost of domestic CDs in Japan; they needed an incentive to get people to buy locally made product.
Record collecting requires a lot of time, physical space for storage, money, and a good stereo to make it worth it. If you only listen to music on a pair of cheap headphones plugged into an iPhone, then perhaps a physical collection is not something you should be interested in. But if you like immersing yourself in the worlds conjured by the musicians you love and can afford a good setup, there is much joy to be had in collecting. You’ll befriend great people who share your addiction, and achieve satisfaction from beholding your collection as it grows. All the while, you’ll feel like you’ve contributed to the artists who have helped enrich your life. When your musical focus is underground extreme metal, you have the extra satisfaction of knowing that your money is especially appreciated and noticed by those from whom you purchase things.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for following my page! Hit me up with questions any time!

You've made me so happy!!! So another for the Jackson clan: What is your favorite thing about your dads being famous? Whose one wrestler you'd love to meet but just haven't had the chance yet?
Lee: (a big grin over his face) Wait, Dad and Papa are famous?
Nicole: (shrugging, trying to hide her grin) Eh, a few people know who they are.
Mattie: Apparently they’re big in Japan.
Nicole: And we all know what that means.
Y/N: (giggling, watching the boys get their booboo faces) It’s like saying, “I have a boyfriend at a different school. You wouldn’t know him.” They’re mostly just Kenny’s “friends.”
Matt: (wagging his finger) Now you wait just a minute...
(The kids burst out laughing. Matt crosses his arms and leans back, pouting)
Mattie: It’s awesome getting to travel so many places. Even if we’re not going somewhere for a show, they make sure we see more of the world than Rancho Cucamonga. And I’ve been begging Mox to take me to meet Becky Lynch. Next time he says “I’m workin’ on it, kiddo” I’m going to give him a hurricanrana.
Nicole: Dad tells me I have to stop asking, but I want to meet Ibushi. He was so good with Uncle Kenny. Besides, Uncle Kenny has Shaye now.
Lee: (looking up at his parents) I like it because Dad and Papa make Mom happy. She gets to draw for the shirts and merch and it makes her smile. Plus, we go to Disneyland. A lot. I want Dad and Papa to take me to Japan. I really want to meet Okada. I watched one of his matches with Uncle Kenny and I was tired at the end! It was good.
RJ: (quiet, calm, he’s got a set of cords in his hands, braiding and knotting them carefully as he speaks) Dad is home and helps me build big Lego sets. And Papa goes on walks. They’re not gone like a lot of my friend’s dads. (untying one of the knots, starting over) Honestly... I don’t like wrestling as much as my brothers and sisters. I like it because it’s what Dad and Papa do.
Nick: (putting his arm around his middle son, giving him a second to move away if he wanted, RJ puts his head against his Dad’s shoulder) And that’s just fine, buddy. You can like whatever you want and not like whatever you want.
Ty: Presents from everywhere!
(Mattie leans over and whispers something. Ty goes wide eyed.)
Ty: Dad, Papa, can I meet Becky Lynch?

Tag Game - Answer their 10 questions and then think of 10 questions to ask other friends!
I was tagged by @kiribaku-is-endgayme ! Thanks for tagging me, I enjoy doing these things and hardly get tagged on em (especially here on Tumblr, haha) My tags and questions are at the bottom!
1. Do you believe in soul mates?
Not really, but kind of at the same time! I do believe you can meet the right people and get along with certain people very well
2. Whats your favorite genre of movies, T.V. shows, and anime?
Action is probably my most favourite! But, I enjoy a mix of action with other genres most of the time. A few of my other favs include sci-fi, supernatural and fantasy!
3. Are you optimistic or pessimistic?
People may say that I’m more of a pessimist, which may be true, but normally I think I am either that or in between. I try to look at what the likeliest/most realistic thing is to happen in a situation. But, when there’s a 50/50 outcome, most times I can be more pessimistic.
4. Is there a movie you can watch over, and over again and not get tired of.
I couldn’t watch any movie over and over again in a short period of time, I prefer to have watching one movie spread out to at least once a year. So I can’t say! If I watched a movie too often, I’d think I’d get bored of it for a long while.
5. If you could live in any other country than your own, what would it be?
One place I’d pick would be Japan, because a lot of my favourite things were made there, such as various anime and Pokemon! So it’d be easy to get merch lol, and touring places would be easier and super fun! Another potential place I’d choose would be France, because of all the interesting foods and places I’d be able to see and try everyday (plus, I take French class, so I know a bit more about France and can speak some French)! Europe in general is just super cool, I really want to visit any of these places someday in the future because I’ve never been to Europe or Japan!
6. If you could switch two fictional characters to eachothers universe, who would they be and why?
I don’t know my top choice but something random and interesting to me that just came up in my mind would be switching someone from Cuphead with someone from Dragon Ball XD Just because it would be very weird for both worlds, and it would be interesting to see how Cuphead or Goku would handle it! It’d also be interesting to see how power levels differ if they are allowed to keep their powers!
7. Do you believe in aliens or some other life form outside of Earth?
Meh, I’m neutral to this topic, I won’t believe in aliens until there is actual proof XD There are possibilites, since the universe is so large. Who knows...
8. What mythical creature do you wish actually existed?
Dragons, I love ‘em. They’re so cool, and I love drawing them too! If they were real, it would be interesting they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, with different abilities (and I would hope some are friendly lol)
9. Whats the most pleasant sounding accent to you?
I don’t really know, I find all accents cool and special in their own ways! Does my own count, because it is what I am used to? Idk XD
10. Do collect anything like, figures, posters, or funko pops?
Yep! I have some anime figures, tho most are the $20 made in China ones on ebay lol (they’re decent quality XD). Lately I’ve been wanting to get some real ones, I have three legit ones so far! I do also have some Funko pops, I’m collecting all the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance ones (I’ve got em all so far, waiting for new ones I guess)! I also collect Pokemon cards + stuffies!
I’ll tag some friends/acquaintances/few peeps who pop up in my notes semi-often/whatever the freak you see me as lol. Sorry if you didn’t want to be tagged or have been tagged for something like this already! And sorry if I didn’t tag you! SORRY! @spectrumscopix @sireniana @leoart2006 @jesterdoodlez @rawrness-blog @perladellanotte @sunny-day-doodles
Here are my questions, feel free to answer them!
1. What is your favourite OC or OCs of yours? Share links if you can!
2. What is your favourite art piece of yours and/or a friend? Share links if you can!
3. What have you been doing the most to keep you occupied during these quarantining times?
3 + 1. Got any pet peeves? If so, want to name some?
5. What is/are the best thing(s) that has/have happened to you recently?
6. Do you have any recommendations of things to read, watch, play, etc.? Give a very small summary too, please!
7. Have you ever traveled to a different country? If so, where have you been and what were your favourite parts of your travels? If not, where would you want to go and why?
8. Favourite colour(s)?
9. Got any awesome memes to share?
10. Lastly, how are you doing this morning/afternoon/evening/night? I hope things have been going well for you, including anyone reading this!

MY personal unofficial live report of NYC!
Again, this is NOT OFFICIAL. I was NOT PRESS. This is just MY PERSONAL account of my amazing experience!!! I copied it from my Facebook post i made. @baby-come-bach is "Melissa".
Okay. So now that im home and safe and I committed everything to memory i wanna talk about the show!!! IF you wanna just skip down to the meet and greet go down below the line. The stuff above is what happened during the concert.
The live was AMAZIIIIIINNNGGG!!! EVEN BETTER THAN THE LAST SHOW.
There was the stage, then the pit, then behind the pit was about 6 steps and a platform with a railing. Behind that was another set of steps and a railing and seating in the back. Once we got into the venue i told Melissa to take my poster and go get me the spot i wanted while i got merch. We were behind the pit at the railing on Uruha's side. He's my fave bandman and OHHHO MY GOD THE VIEW WAS. PERFECT. Melissa must have read my mind because she knew i like uruha but didnt know what side he stood on. Lolol. She guessed correctly and stayed to the right. I stayed in line for merch and got my stuff and went to meet her. I couldnt have asked for better view. We werr SO CLOSE. And above the pit so i didnt have to fall victim to my stature.
So we wait and then they start the show. And they all walk out all stoic and tall and QIDNWODNWJD. Kai came out first, then aoi and reita and uruha, then ruki last. And they went right into their songs. They sounded SOOOO good omg.
My highlights from the show:
Uruha was HEADBANGING ALL NIGHT and SPINNING AROUND AND SMILING HE WAS SOOOO INTO IT HE BROUGHT SO MUCH ENERGY.
Ruki kept dancing and shaking his shoulders and hips. He cant dance that well so it was endearing and funny but also kept the mood.
Kai was smiling like the sun the whole time. He LOVES to perform and it shows.
Reita kept bending down really low and slapping his bass really hard. Especially when they played one song that featured him. (the mortal) He went HAM. IT WAS AWESOME.
Aoi was so majestic. He didnt really MOVE much but he did walk around the stage with the others a lot. He was so captivating just like before.
And there were two or three 15-30 second pauses. Their english was WAY better than last time, especially Ruki's! He said "we were so excited to come to New York!! We're so happy to be here!!!!" And then they riled us up with call and answer. It was great!!!!
The second pause was Kai!! I didnt even know it was him until I heard talking and didnt see Ruki on stage!! But Kai said, "i love new York!! I love you guys!! We are so excited to be here!!" And then he did a call and answer with us.
I SWEAR THEY ALL LOOKED AT ME LIKE 25 TIMES DURING THE LIVE. It was like they wanted to see EVERY FAN. They kept their eyes up and out to the crowd most of the time!
I TRIED to show them support but i also wanted to actually stand and WATCH. So I really only Committed to Ninth Odd Smell, UGLY, abhor god, and Filth in the Beauty. The rest I was more tame on cuz i wanted to SEE them. But all those songs get me HYYYYPE so i had to give it my all.
They played Suicide Circus again too!!!!! And Inside Beast this time!!!! Those were the two songs Melissa knows best so she got to hear stuff she enjoyed! Also, we made sure to watch Aoi in the second verse because he bowed most regally with his arm up and he twirled his wrist as he brought it down into the bow. Just like in the music video!!! It was AMAZING. SOOOOOOOOOOO COOL!!! And Ruki's rapping was SO COOL TO HEAR LIVE AGAIN. it was even better than last show!
ONE THING I always enjoyed was when Ruki adds a little improv to long outros. For Sono Koe Wa Moroku which is a slow ballad he added his own little wisps of vocals and screams which was so cool!!
They ended the set with filth in the Beauty and the crowd kept trying to call for encore but no one knew how to keep time so everyone kept thunderclapping instead of joining together in one voice.
One girl in the pit got on someone's shoulders and lifted her top and flashed the camera that was recording us. I couldnt tell if they kicked her out or not. All i remember thinking was "thats DEFINITELY not gonna make them wanna come on stage any sooner." Also no one crowd surfed that I saw like last show. And this girl behind us was yelling "WE /DESERVE/ AN ENCORE." which irritated melissa and i a bit. Like, bitch, no you dont deserve it. You deserve the OPPORTUNITY for it. What a gross fan. I hoped they werent VIP cuz I wouldnt want her to be a bad fan to them and say anything rude. When they did come on stage that girl was acting like she single-handedly brought them out on stage. She otherwise didnt bother us. We ignored her the rest of the time. She was gone from my mind in two seconds once they came back out.
They played 3 encore songs and ended with Tomorrow Never Dies!! Which is a good song to end on. It has a beautiful message of hope. Once it was over Ruki kept saying "thank you!!" And we'd answer with a cheer and he said "we will see you again real soon!! Good night, New York!!" And then as we filtered out they checked our wrist bands and we were allowed into the seating part to wait until they were ready for the meet and greet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They called row by row and we were in the middle of the last section so we scooted out and ran to the top. I wanted to be LAST FOR THE MEET AND GREET. And we ended up DEAD LAST. We were next to these girls who flew FROM JAPAN to see them. I would have liked to talk to them but I was so nervous to, so i just quietly listened to them converse in japanese.
When they called us we filed down! And we went thru these doors and there were small steps and THERE. THEY. WERE. right there!!! I saw Reita's mask and hair and my stomach dropped cuz it was ACTUALLY THEM. So melissa helped me get the poster out and I unfolded it and I get up to Aoi and I was so star struck I forgot EVERYTHING I was gonna say. But i saw him look down and see it and he said "oh wow!!! Design?" I couldnt even answer. The staff beside him thought I didnt understand so she said "he asked if you drew this." And i said "ohhh my god. Yes. Yes. Design. Yes." And he looked at me, IN MY EYES with these bright wide eyes and he said "thank you! So cool! Thank you" and he took my hands in his and we looked in each other's eyes and I saw warmth and love and dedication. Im sure he saw pure terror and awe in mine but we said thank you. I slide it down to Reita and i see him look down and his eye we could see through his mask, which up close almost looked like cloth and not plastic, got so big and he has a deeper voice so he just said "WOW!!" AND stared for a second and then he looked at me and said "you draw this??" And I still had no words so I just nodded and said "YES. YES. DRAWING." And we still held eyes and he said "this is amazing!!! Thank you so much!" And he took my hands in his and shook and we said thank you!! Then I slid it down to Ruki and OH MY GOD RUKI WAS PERFECT. From my peripheral i glimpsed aoi and reita following with their eyes. And ruki saw it and his face LIT UP and he said "WOW! YOU DREW THIS?!" And I found my words so I said "yes! Kakimashita! I drew this!!" And he pointed to himself and he smiled and said "I LIKE THIS!!!! I LIKE THIS!!!! THANK YOUU! THANK YOU!!!" and he grasped my hands in his and we shook and said thank you. Then I move to Kai and he says "HI!!!" AND I SAID "HELLO!!!!" and i show him and he SMILES SO BIG and he said "oh wow! A drawing!?" And I said "kakimashita! I drew this!" And he looked at me and said "its amazing!!! Good job!! Thank you!!" And his smile WAS EVEN BIGGER AND HE just MELTED MY HEART RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!!!!! AAHH!!! and he grasped my hands in his and shook and we ssaid thank you to each other and last was MY FAVORITE URUHA and let me tell you. He recently dyedd his hair blonde and I did not like it. It was cut like a bob and it was super "I wanna talk to your manager." Our ongoing joke was to call him Susan. But i saw HIM. AND HIM AND HIS HAIR WAS A FOOT AWAY FROM ME. AND HE LOOKED. BEAUTIFUL. IMMACULATE. I ALMOST HAD THE NERVE TO APOLOGIZE. But I showed him my poster. His reaction was my favorite. His eyes got real big and he said "ooooooooooooooohh!!!! Wow!!!!!!!" And i said "kakimashita!! I drew this!!" And he couldnt even speak he just kept saying "wow!!" And he looked at me and I looked at him and we shook hands and he took my hands in his and he said "thank you so much!" And I said "thank you!!!" And then i don't remember but i think uruha was still super close to me after we let go and i turned away and i think i turned back around and black out yelled "OMG YOURE MY FAVORITE." AND I think he smiled embarassed and said "thank you so much!" And then we tried to fenangle it back into the box and i caught the smallest glimpse of Aoi and Reita leaning over the table to look and see. Eventually we got the plastic on and the staff member said "ill take it." So we handed it over and then I both hand waved and said "BYEEE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!" AND OH MY GOD ALL 5 OF THEM LEANED OVER AND LOOKED AT ME AND WAVED AND SAID "BYEE THANK YOUU!!" and then they gave us our VIP towels and we were told to scoot so we went down the hallway and out the door!! And that was IT!!!
I. MET. THE. GAZETTE.
This is what I gave to them and Showed them.
I. SHOWED. THEM. MY. ART.
THEY. LLLOOOVVVEEEDDD. MY. ART.
AS MELISSA SAID, "it was a Total Eclipse Of The Art."
MY BIGGEST DREAM CAME TRUE.
Note
Hello there. I've recently created a Wikipedia article for "Godzilland", and I've also submitted "Adventure! Godzilland" to IMDb. Your "What is Godzilland?" page may well be a very helpful source of information about this obscure little part of Godzilla's history, but Wikipedia does not accept blogs as reliable sources of information. Where did you learn all that information about "Godzilland" media, especially specific things like release dates?
Wow! That’s awesome! Back then I came across different things that were directly or indirectly related to Godzilland by searching different word combinations in japanese. That post was an attempt to recopilate all the info I had and make sense of it all. I don’t know much about Wikipedia’s source system but I hope this helps:
The company that made the four anime episodes, Gakken, has entries for the episodes in one of their sites. They are pretty bare-bones and lack pictures (probably because the vhs have long been out of print) but still have the dates, the ISBN codes, and also link to places like Amazon Japan to buy the vhs:
Hiragana: http://hon.gakken.jp/book/1520042000
Counting: http://hon.gakken.jp/book/1520042100
Addition: http://hon.gakken.jp/book/1520078400
Subtraction: http://hon.gakken.jp/book/1520078500
For wathever it’s worth, the japanese publishing site Tsutaya also has entries for the addition vhs and the subtraction vhs, without pictures. The site BuyUru has entries for the Hiragana and Counting vhs with pictures of the covers and a basic synopsis.
Regarding the two trivia shows that the anime seems to somehow derivate from, these are the sites I found about them. The first and third links have synopsis for each show and the second and fourth links have the episode lists with the dates and even the ratings:
http://www.allcinema.net/prog/show_c.php?num_c=86780#1
https://www10.atwiki.jp/shichouseiko/pages/276.html
http://www.allcinema.net/prog/show_c.php?num_c=86781#1
https://www10.atwiki.jp/shichouseiko/pages/277.html
We only have one episode and one trailer of the second trivia show online to know what it was like. I don’t know any official statement about how things went from those shows to the anime, but it’s clear that both are official and use the same designs.
Sadly I haven’t been able to find any official site that speaks of the 1984 merch. Only blogs and online sales. I recall some publicity for it in some newspapers. I wonder if that would help. Anyway it’s easy to put two and two together when one sees the date of said merch (1984), the fact that the video game Gojira-kun from 1985 has the same artstyle, and the reveal here from inside the code that it was originally going to be called Godzilland. But I don’t know if that’s enough to be put on wikipedia. Not that it’s essential if it’s an article about the anime though.
I also came across some listings and online sales of cds with music that was used in the trivia shows. Here’s one site. There is also this blog post in english.
Monsterislandbuddies was able to get at least three of the episodes on vhs (counting, addition and subtraction) and has uploaded high quality scans of the vhs covers wich include all that copyright-related text goodness regarding both Toho and Gakken wich may or may not be enough to prove wikipedia that these episodes are official and exist.
Hope that helps! And thanks! If there is more don’t hesitate to ask!
Devil May Cry V getting a SSS pack, which contains a soundtrack, tshirt, and poster. b) Speaking of which, they haven't forgotten about releasing an official Vergil coat. c) Famitsu Interview regarding what may or may not happen in Special Edition. d) Other inclusions and exclusions of Special Edition regarding features, the official Vergil DLC release date, etc. 5. CapCom at one point released stamps to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the 1st Devil May Cry game. Someone got their hands on them. 6. 90 Day Fiance, featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series. 7. Interview of Kyo (aka RedgraveKyo) talking to the voice of Trish from DMC4, Danielle Burgio. 8. Some drama regarding how "casuals" and "elitists" react to different opinions of Devil May Cry 4 and V.
My Thoughts On These Updates:
1. That Qbitz figure's adorable. A friend of mine in my one Facebook group mentioned about how Asmus Toys announces all of these Qbitz figures, but no mention about a release date, which is frustrating. 2. As I mentioned in the previous roundup of updates, Yunchang Games really loves showing off more promo work than their actual work. They are nice images, but they could at least give small tidbits of updates about what's happening with this game. Last I heard, it is supposed to be fully released some time this year. Well, we still have another couple months before the year ends. The other thing I heard for why it's getting delayed again is because of the pandemic, and they're actually listening to feedback from their beta testers so they're fixing whatever they can to please the fans. 3. I'm not surprised that rumours about a Devil May Cry 6 is already in the works. Especially when this rumour is coming from DuskGolemn (aka AestheticGamer1). Sure that person has some history with CapCom, but it doesn't mean whatever comes out of this person's statuses are always 100% true. It's plausible since Devil May Cry V did so well with their sales and such, but I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic about this info given. 4. I feel like for CapCom's SSS pack, they should include a Vergil figure from Prime1Studio or Kotobukiya. Sure a soundtrack, tshirt, and poster are nice, but I feel like there should be more. b) Nice that they haven't forgotten about Vergil's official coat being available for purchase. Sucks that these official coats/jackets are so damn expensive. They're way more than a used or new car for crying out-loud. c & d) Sucks that we PS4, PC, and XboxONE players have to wait longer for the Vergil DLC, but better to be late than never. It's also too bad about Xbox Series S players, but I guess some technology does have their limits. I'm very curious as to what Special Edition has in store. I like how CapCom's not giving away too much info to make up for the mistakes they've made of releasing major spoilers in their trailers for the original game and DMC4. 5. I think I've heard about those stamps before. It's cool that CapCom does things like that. Japan gets really awesome gaming merch stuff...Even their advertisements are more entertaining than us westerners'. 6. Funny how a little tidbit of someone cosplaying as Dante pops up in a TV show. Wonder what was happening down there in San Diego with that guy? 7. I haven't checked out the interview, but it's cool how specific fans can interact with these voice actors to get some more details and such. If any of you watched it, and anything sticks out that seems interesting, don't be afraid to share your thoughts. 8. (Warning: Very long rant, brutal honesty, and swearing ahead)...It really sucks what's happening with the Devil May Cry fandom as of late...More people have been leaving the fandom because someone was trying to be "funny". I'm aware that these kinds of things also happen with other fandoms like Undertale, Bayonetta, etc. for these kinds of drama to occur. I'm just sick of people shitting on one another... Yes, there is good that happens in this fandom as well like fundraisers for good causes, fans supporting other fans, even chill folk that don't like to start drama (Like that wholesome status post I shared in the list of updates for example). My problem is how people are either living under a rock, or are being in denial with the problems that surface with this fandom. Let alone being hypocritical where they share an opinion regarding another opinion that they disagree with in a rude manner, then turn around and  share something more positively eye-opening that's not so rude so they cover their tracks with their mistakes they've made before (Not sure if I worded this properly. Hope you get what I mean. One example is how one of the "elitists" mentioned about how "casual fans" are the most toxic people he's come across. Meanwhile he's complaining and whining in a toxic manner about PC players not getting Special Edition, then he turns around and shares that wholesome post about DMC4 players vs fans to make himself look good). I just want everybody to keep the peace with one another instead of being entitled, egotistical, self-centered, spoiled-rotten, hypocritical, idiots. The other issue this fandom is facing is content thieves. They've been on the rise for quite some time now, and people aren't doing a damn thing. I've been fighting with a few Facebook groups regarding this kind of act, but all they want is clout...Which is ridiculous if you ask me...I ask that if any of you see fan artists', screen captors', meme and mod creators', and cosplayers' content being posted where they state on their images or profiles that they don't want their content shared, or need permission to ask about their content being shared, message these artists or report the images. Even say something to these content thieves. As an artist who's had my stuff stolen before, I don't condone content theft... For those of you who know me in my Original Devil May Cry Sanctuary group on Facebook, and The Red Devil's Chronicles page on there as well, I always credit the content creators for their work, but I am also cautious on who wants their stuff posted or not. And as of late, I've pretty much stopped sharing others' fan art to respect these artists' wishes of not wanting their content shared without permission. If any of you want your stuff shared on the Facebook page, don't be afraid to let me know on here or there, I will give credit. I've been debating about whether to completely delete the fan art album on there and start anew. What do you guys think? As I've said, not all things are bad in the Devil May Cry fandom. We do have the good side of it, too. I'm hoping it gets better regarding that good side of it. It really sucks having to see stuff like this happen. But we good fans can change things for the better if we do something. This may come off as nerdy or cheesy, but as Alucard from Castlevania states in Symphony of The Night, "The only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing".
