sakusa knows heâs a bad date.
heâs quiet, timid, doesnât speak much, and asks all the wrong questions at the wrong time.
heâs not very good at eye contact and a lot of the things he wants to say he feels he canât say at all either.
(partially due to the feeling that everything he says when he talks to you ends up embarrassing him, and partially due to the fact that talking to you for long periods of time make him tongue tied).
(not that heâd ever admit that).
despite all that though, he does know the basics when it comes to going on dates:
he buys you flowers (and forgets it by his doorway), he opens the car door for you (and apologizes when it almost hits you as he opens it), and he makes dinner reservations at the restaurant you mentioned to him in passing three days ago (he did a good job with this one).
so yes, him being a bad date is not unbeknownst to him. quite the opposite in fact, itâs not only something he knows about himself, but itâs also something that he thinks about all the time.
or at least, all the time ever since heâs met you.
thatâs how the two of you end up here â the evening of your first (and probably last) date, sitting on a porch step of an empty building, a bloodied handkerchief filled with crushed up snow pressed against sakusaâs left cheek, and a few missing buttons from your favorite winter coat.
sakusa always knew he was a bad date, but he never thought he would be this bad.
the plan had been simple: get you flowers, open the door for you, drive you to the restaurant you liked. sakusa had this game-plan of his memorized ever since you said yes to him four â now five â days ago.
he wrote it on a piece of paper, step by step, and kept it in his wallet sleeve in case he forgets, he repeated it to himself three times in the mirror this afternoon before he left the house to pick you up, and he said it to himself one last time in the car before texting you that heâd arrived.
he memorized it.
and still, he messed it up.
the streets are empty and the evening is quiet.
âsorry ⌠for this.â
his words feel like theyâve been the first to be spoken all night.
on the snowy concrete just below your feet, thereâs a few drops of blood making its presence known loudly against the whiteness of the snow, the drops scatter sporadically, and near it, thereâs a button or two from your coat.
you sit next to sakusa on the cold steps, itâs a quiet night, and itâs not snowing anymore, but the soft bed of the cold flurry it left behind made for a beautiful evening.
you let your head fall slightly on his shoulder, âfor what?â
you can feel him stiffen immediately under your touch, and he coughs, shy, and looks to the side.
it makes you smile a little bit â his efforts of hiding his expressions â itâs not like you can see him anyway with that big makeshift ice-pack covering his face.
âsorry for the bad date.â he clears his throat, more clearly now, a little louder too, but his tone almost sounds disappointed. â⌠and sorry for ruining your coat.â
you lift your head up from his shoulder, frowning, and you turn to face him, âitâs not a bad date.â
he doesnât say anything to that. instead, he keeps his head turned slightly away from you, but his shoulders fall a bit when you move away from him.
âif anything, i should be the one apologizing.â you mutter lowly, âiâm the reason you got hurt.â
sakusa huffs slightly. a second pausing in the air as he refuses to return the look you give him, and finally, he puts down the âice packâ from his cheek, and looks at you.
his cheek is scratched lightly, nothing too deep, just a red mark thatâll probably resolve itself in a few days, but his lower lip though â the culprit of the blood stained snow â is undeniably busted, still bleeding slightly, and making him wince at the sudden loss of pressure.
âdonât say stupid things.â he tells you, and if it makes him sound cold, he swears heâs not trying to be.
he just doesnât know what else there is to say.
the truth is â it is a bad date.
he forgot your flowers, almost hit you with the car door, and now, the two of you are missing your dinner reservation because he got himself injured twenty minutes into the night.
itâs not fair, he thinks. half the things he wants to say to you, he canât. half the things he wants to do, he messes up.
you make him fumble on his words, tongue tied, speechless, literally. you make him write things down on notes so he wonât forget them or practice on bathroom mirrors or worry in his car outside your doorstep.
he is the most capable man in his team, he is the sharpest, the most composed, his teammates and coach all count and look up to him.
but for some reason, one night with you, and it all washes away.
he doesnât know what to say to you, he forgets things, and he falls face first flat on the hard concrete ground twenty minutes into your first date.
donât say stupid things.
âyou really wonât let me take you to the hospital?â you put your hand on his knee, turning even more to your side so you can face him better.
you have half a mind to put your other hand on his injured cheek but you donât want to hurt him more than how he already does.
âitâs not as bad as it looks.â and as he says that, he winces, the gust of wind suddenly hitting his busted lip a testament to his bad luck tonight.
sakusa wants to kick himself, if there ever would be an appropriate time to act cooler than how he actually was, it would definitely not be now.
you donât look so convinced, but sakusa wouldnât know, heâs still only limiting himself to looking at you briefly before shifting his glance to something behind you or beside you or above you.
âhm. and it doesnât hurt?â you cross your arms.
he shakes his head, âno. it doesnât.â (it does.)
you raise a brow, âand you wouldnât happen to be lying to me right now so i donât take you to the emergency room?â
he shakes his head again, âiâm not.â (he is.)
you give him a look.
listen â sakusa already knows that heâs a bad date, but come on! he has been planning on asking you to dinner with him since the first week heâs known you, heâs been worrying about this evening since the second you agreed to it, and heâs been kicking himself in the head ever since the night began.
heâd rather bleed out on this disgustingly dirty porch step than admit that heâs a date so bad he can turn an evening meant for dinner into a night at the emergency room.
he doesnât want you to think that he can be so bad like that. (is it too soon to ask you out for dinner again?)
you still look frustrated at his answers. but at least, heâs looking at you now.
you let out a big sigh, shoulders falling, and suddenly, you clap your hands together loudly as you straighten up.
âthen i have an idea.â you say, and sakusa furrows his brows at the sudden change in the atmosphere.
you give him a prompting grin. âheads or tails.â
and it catches him so off guard, he says aloud, âwhat?â
you dig for a coin in your coat, âiâll flip a coin and if it lands on heads, we go to the emergency room, no arguments, no fusses, no nothing.â
he frowns at that.
âbut.â you tell him, and your grin gets wider as you show him the dime laid out on your palm, âif itâs tails, we go to my apartment, and iâll try to fix you up there.â
his frown falls almost immediately into something else.
one night out with you and heâs already bleeding heavily and injured, and now you wanna take him back to your apartment?
were you trying to kill him?
âheads or tails, omi.â
he blinks at your words. and once again, he finds himself saying aloud, âwhat?â
you shoot him a funny look, your eyebrows slightly raising as your lips curve upward into a crooked smile.
you say, teasing, âif you donât know; heads is the part of the coin with the head of the person showing on it and tails is theââ
sakusa grumbles loudly, cutting you off mid-sentence, making sure you see him roll his eyes at you, and he nudges you slightly with his foot.
he mutters, albeit under his breath, and he tries to hide it, but you can always tell when heâs smiling, âi know what a goddamned head is.â
you shrug, your grin wider now when you see his mood lighten up a bit.
âdo you know what a goddamned tail is?â
sakusa huffs out an amused sigh. the smile on his face a lot more prominent now, and you only wonder slightly if it hurts him when he does it.
his shoulders fall as heâs defeated, âjust take me to the emergency room.â
you let out a short laugh and the night doesnât seem so quiet anymore.
you fall back against his shoulder, âah, omi, are you just saving the opportunity to be invited into my apartment for our next date?â
thereâs a choking sound to be heard in the air.
his face almost feels like itâll erupt into flames by how casually you just said that, a hot pink hue creeping up from his neck to nose all the way to the tips of his ears. he blames it on the cold, and immediately, he presses the âicepackâ back against his cheek.
sakusa stands up suddenly from the porch step, âletâs go now.â
and just like he said, he strides away, faster than what would usually be safe on snow-covered pavement.
âomi, not so fast!â you yell after him, rising from your own seat and following his pace, âyou might fall again and hurt the other side of your face and atsumu will think i beat you up on our first date.â
he walks faster.
âi can go to the hospital myself, please donât follow me.â
âthatâs ridiculous! let me take care of you!â
he trips on his feet slightly as you say that and his heart feels like it wouldâve fell from his mouth had he not caught himself before falling again.
you really were trying to kill him, werenât you?
maybe this date doesnât feel so bad after all.
and, is it too soon if he asks you to come have dinner with him again?

part one
âcome sit on my desk, sweetheart.â
youâre nervous as you look back at ghost, but he only nudges you gently, urging you to get up and do as the captain says. your swallow is audible, standing on shaky legs, ghostâs hands lingering on your hips until you step out of his reach.
the metal clanking of priceâs belt makes you blink rapidly, your mouth going dry. is this truly how you want your first time to go? to be fucked by your boyfriend's boss while he watches? the nerves begin to rattle through you. having price watch while ghost tried to please you was one thing⌠sitting on priceâs desk while he fucked you was something else entirely.Â
youâre still stunned you let ghost walk you into priceâs office in the first place, obeying him when he instructed you to sit on his lap, spread wide for the captain to see. it was a crazy idea that you were somehow talked into. youâd do anything to ease ghostâs worry, and if that meant allowing another man to show him how to be gentle with you, then so be it.Â
priceâs eyes trace your figure as you approach, the cool air of his office making you shiver. your skirt is crumpled on the floor along with your underwear, your tank top skewed but covering your chest stillâglad for at least a little bit of modesty, still quite nervous around these two men.Â
priceâs tsks, clicking his tongue, gesturing his head at the open spot on his desk before him. you slip into the small space and priceâs warm hands grab the fat of your hips, heaving you up so youâre sitting on his desk. you cannot believe you have your bare ass on captain priceâs desk. the heat flash must be evident on your face because priceâs lips tick up. john leans forward, his hands gripping either side of his desk, caging you in. âdonât be nervous, doll. mâgonna take it slow.â
you nod, unable to form words. you hear ghost shifting in his seat but youâre too drawn to john to dare risk a glimpse. one of priceâs fingers slips between your legs, dragging through your core, making you whimper. ânâ youâre already warmed up for me.â price tilts his head to look over at ghost. âmake sure sheâs good nâready before you fuck her, yeah?â
ghost grunts out a noise of understanding. john stands back upright and he gently begins to push you back. âlie down, sweetheart,â he coos.
you slowly fall flat against his desk and price worms his way between your legs, his hands sliding across your bare thighs, pushing them open so he can look at you. youâre embarrassed but too shy to say anything, so you let the captain have his way with you. price takes his cock out of his trousers and your eyes immediately shoot up to look at the ceiling. john chuckles and you hate yourself for being so bashful. he strokes himself once. twice. then his hand is caressing against you, his thumb circling your clit before you feel the head of his cock on your entrance. âyou can look, sweet girl,â john tells you.Â
you finally muster the courage to look down and bite your lip when you see how large he isâor maybe heâs average, you donât exactly have enough experience to be able to tell the difference. but the way heâs pressed against you, you wonder how itâs going to fit. âdonât you worry bout me,â john speaks, âghost, here, is the real culprit.â it didnât matter if price was big⌠ghost was bigger. you suck in a sharp breath in both excitement and anxiety.
you turn your head, cheek on the cool wood of his desk, to look over at ghost. your eyes widen and your chest races, ghost strokes himself as he watches you and the captain.Â
ânow pay attention,â price says toward ghost. âmâgonna go in nice nâslow.â
and he does. price edges himself inside you and you immediately whine, your legs flying up from the table and cling around priceâs waist, your instinct to try and stop him. but his body is in the way, and it only seems to incite him further, price grunting as he makes his way deeper inside you. âahh, big stretch,â he coos as he fills you.
âthatâs it, sweetheart,â price praises. he takes an excruciatingly long time edging his cock inside you, small strokes back and forth, going a little bit deeper each time. you squeeze your eyes shut as price works his way in, trying to keep yourself from clenching down too hard on him. priceâs hand caresses your cheek, beckoning you to open your eyes. âmâall in.â
your eyes flutter open, your lips parted, face likely flushed. price grins before glancing over at ghost and gestures his head toward the front of his desk where your head is lying.Â
you hear ghost shuffle and move across the floor, then you feel his presence behind you. âtouch her,â price demands.Â
ghostâs fingers are on you, sliding along the seam of your tank top, lightly feathering your exposed skin. his fingers hook on the fabric and he drags your tank up until itâs tucked under your chin, your bra the only thing between the menâs eyes and your breasts. ghost gropes your chest over your bra and you squirm at his aggressive touch. but ghost is impatient and he tears your bra down a moment later, your nipples popping free with a gasp, and he assaults your breasts, squeezing and palming your soft skin. you moan and price uses that as his chance to begin thrusting inside of you.
youâre so distracted by ghostâs touch that you donât realize priceâs movement until he sheathes himself to the hilt inside you again. you yelp, your eyes widening. âfeel so good,â price slurs. ghost releases your breast, your chest likely red and marked, and he pulls his cock free, stroking it. you turn to look, flustered as ghost works himself, his cock right beside your head, his eyes dancing between where priceâs cock is buried deep inside you and your eyes.Â
price tucks your hair behind your ear, his hand caressing the side of your face, forcing you to look up at him as he rocks his hips against you.Â
ghost tries his best to pay attention, but fuck, watching you whimper and whine like that is driving him absolutely mad. he thought this might satiate some of his more aggressive desires, but it only seems to be fueling it further. âdoinâ such a good job,â ghost says above you. your eyes meet his and youâre forced to let out a moan as price begins to rub your clit. âgonna come on the captainâs cock?â his words enticing, like heâs getting just as much pleasure out of this as you.
you nod, your hands reaching above your head to grip the edge of the table and stop yourself from bucking up wildly into price. âthatâs my good girl,â ghost praises.Â
âgonna let me fill ya up?â price asks. he seems so confident, but you can hear the way heâs losing himself, the way heâs desperate for this. you tell him yes, your words clipping on a whimper and price begins to rub circles on your clit faster, needing to feel you clench down on him.Â
and you do. you cry out, your walls clamping down, fluttering rapidly, and price groans loudly, swearing and cursing as he empties himself inside you. then you feel it, something warm sliding down your breasts and into your shirt. ghost has one hand gripping the table, the other still on his cock, his come now painted across your chest. you canât help the wave of ecstasy that fills you when you see it.Â
price gently pulls out, muttering something to ghost about how to be soft when disentangling your bodies. you feel liquid gush out of you and drip down your ass and onto the desk, your brain in a haze as you look up at the two men.Â
price helps you sit up and he places a kiss on the top of your head, mumbling about how well you did, how good you felt, how perfect you were for him. and youâre certain price is going to show ghost how to care for you afterward, how to carry you to the bathroom, how to help you into some warm clothes. but instead, he says something that makes the fog dissipate from your mind. price looks to ghost, âwanna show me what ya learned, yeah?â
ghost must nod because as price shoves himself back into his trousers, he gestures to the side where you and ghost had been sitting earlier, âatta girl.â

Love is presented in many ways throughout Alien Stage: For Mizi and Sua, it's codependent, romantic to a worrying extent. For Ivan and Till, it's one sided, unrequited, and painful.
And for Hyuna and Luka, it's a curse.

Not only a curse, but one that haunts them. Jacob once told Hyuna to "Forgive yourself", which, to her, was misplaced. She could have forgiven herself. It was Luka who she couldn't forgive. But, in the end, she couldn't fulfill the legacy. She couldn't forgive herself for loving Luka. She couldn't forgive Luka for killing who she loved. And so, what did she do? She passed on the legacy.
The words "Forgive yourself" didn't help her. They built who she was, but in the worst possible way. She couldn't take his words, because she didn't consider herself the culprit, but the one she resented.
She told this curse, "Forgive yourself" again. She told them to Luka, sentence that almost sounded mocking on her lips. She couldn't have died before because she had to keep moving forward, but now, the pressure wasn't on her shoulders anymore.
She loves Luka, of course she does. But she cannot possibly forgive him. She knows he doesn't realize the suffering he inflicts. It's ironic, he's so unbearably smart, solving puzzles in a matter of seconds, but he doesn't know how to take in the real world, and the feelings of the ones around him, the most important 'puzzle' of them all. So, she gives him the biggest dilemma of his life. It's harsh, cruel, messed up in every sense. It's the puzzle she knew he could never solve, because she herself, who knew humanity, couldn't. Hyuna knew Luka loved her more than himself. And Hyuna cared for Hyunwoo more than for herself. Luka killed Hyunwoo, and so, Hyuna repaid him with the same coin, an eye for an eye. With an act that is the ultimate sacrifice, and the ultimate revenge.
As I have said, Hyuna knew the love he had for her, beyond the limits of his own body. She must've known how much her act would destroy his world: a fate worse than death. Her kind tone, telling him to take as much time as he needs to solve the newfound question she has proposed in such an ugly way, appears almost taunting.

And the way she holds him in her arms, purposefully close, and looks into his eyes, makes it just so much more painful. And yet, when she speaks her soul, passes everything she was carrying on her shoulders, over to him, her face is hidden away, buried in his shoulder. She's free. She finally had her revenge. She can forgive him, and then herself, even though the price was destroying him, without building him up again. Leaving him like pieces of a puzzle that never got solved. She's been cruelly betrayed, and she, even more cruelly, fed him his own medicine.

Hyuna is haunted by both Hyunwoo and Luka, similar to how Mizi is haunted by Sua. Hyunwoo brings the horror aspect: the bloodied blouse and head, while Luka has the smile that Sua has in the imaginations. The two people she loved most: the one who couldn't forgive her because she didn't get to apologize, and the one she didn't forgive. It's all so incredibly complex: she hates and loves, she resents and adores. Hyuna can't pick anymore. We're shown that she's such an active person, sociable, loving, having a whole group of humans just like her, and yet, we're told that she thinks all of them are selfish, even if they seem altruistic. She doesn't trust them, it seems it's a facade. In this, Luka and Hyuna are similar, but divided by the fact he wants to conceal his emotions, and she wants to make them more visible.

This page, specifically, made me click MiziSua and HyuLuka together. They look scarily alike. The same lovey-dovey expression, versus the distressed one of the lover, even the slight glow that Luka has is similar. I think this is meant to show that they still depend on each other, despite the fact that Hyuna seems to resent him so much.

Hyuna says Luka doesn't know the meaning of love. That the only thing he's ever shown, the only thing he genuinely knows, is suffering, and that his abilities basically stop at inflicting the same. (At least, emotional ones.) This is a parallel to Ivan, in my opinion, who didn't know love either, but he liked the idea of it. Instead, Luka loved with everything he had, even though he had no idea what it truly was. His love is obsessive, and somehow, so impossibly innocent at the same time. Because in a way, he's still a child. When he sees Hyuna, he becomes immature again, his facade of control dissipating into thin air. He mocked Mizi for her inability, but he's even worse.

According to his ear monitor, his heart was beating out of his chest. He could hear his own erratic heartbeat. It's painful, how happy he was, how excited, to be in her arms again. And yet, despite the love, the embrace was just as much of revenge.
Ever since Wiege, we've seen Luka smile so much. Just for him to never truly smile again.

I am a fan of the gentleness that Hyuna treats young Luka with. She seems awfully attached to the image of that innocence she knew. But it's not like Mizi's idea of Sua, the perfect one. It's an image she can't bear seeing again. "I couldn't stand seeing myself on those posters, because I knew exactly the face the you'd have. Yes, I bet you were smiling ear to ear." We've only seen him like this for the first time, but to her, it was so familiar, even years apart, she still knew.

Another thing I have noticed is that Hyunwoo's grave is right infront of a tree, almost separated from the others, just the way Luka was sitting before Hyuna found him. Now, this time, Hyunwoo lost Hyuna, and he's forever forced to be lonely in the garden he'll never grow out of.

Hyuna wanted to give Luka a rubik's cube he wouldn't be able to solve, something difficult. A rubik's cube can represent human nature, who Luka seems to have mastered completely. But Hyuna finally manages to postpone him: the puzzle is herself.

And in the end, after Hyuna's body goes limp, he finally manages to take her in his arms. He promised that there, she'd be safe, but he didn't manage to keep her that way. And suddenly, the words "My Savior" from Ruler of my Heart are awfully true.

(not so) sneaky

what happens when a drunk chan wants to cuddle while the group's in italy, except no one knows you're dating...
pairing: dino x 14thmember!reader
genre: fluff, lightly suggestive? (just very detailed making out i guess)
word count: 1.1k
cw: kisses/making out, chan had too much wine, secret relationship, set during nana tour
a/n: i'm finally back! this wasn't what i was originally going to put out, but i've been stuck trying to finish a different fic so here yall go đ i will be back on my normal posting schedule now!!! could NOT find a third pic so i guess it's just 2 for now
dividers by @purefantasia
someone lands onto your bed with an "oomph"
assuming it's wonwoo, for the third time, maybe coming to give you another souvenir, you wink an eye open. "you need something, won?" but instead your greeted with a sloppy, suspiciously wine tasting peck on the lips. oh lord.
you widen your eyes at the attack, staring at the culprit who pulls away with a dramatic "mwah!"
"chan? what are you doing? what if there's someone in here?" you ramble, sitting up properly to scan the room, accidentally knocking into chan's head in the process.
"ow! y/nď˝!," he sulks, "aren't you happy to see your boyfriend? what's with the aggressionď˝"
thankfully, the room is empty, or at least you think so. it's basically pitch black save for the moonlight that peeks in through a sheer curtain. you turn your head back at chan, sighing when you can practically smell the wine coming off of him.
"you're so drunk, aren't you?" you ask, and all he does is nod in response, pushing you down onto your back and laying down next to you. normally, you'd nag him. you'd tell him that you've warned him about the damage he'd probably do to his career if he wouldn't stop downing glasses of wine like it's water, but it's not a normal day, so you hold back this time.
since the group's tour had started, you and chan had not gotten any time to yourselves whatsoever. and as much as you were thankful for the free trip to italy, it'd only prolonged the time till you could even kiss chan, let alone cuddle.
even if sharing the same bed was normal for the members, one of them nuzzling into your neck? yeah, probably not something you could pass off as platonic. and chan? he liked to do a whole lot of that.
speaking of the members, there's a faint sound of laughter and singing that is barely muffled by the closed door- a reminder of just how risky this whole situation is, but you try to ignore it for the sake of being able to enjoy this one moment.
chan shuffles around before rolling over so that half of his body is on yours. he snuggles into your chest, as expected, and closes his eyes.
"that wine was really good, though," he mumbles quietly, as if all the energy he had a minute ago just vanished into the warmth of your bed. you chuckle at his deliberation, pondering a bit yourself. "too bad i never got to try any, think i passed out right after the game." you respond, recalling most of the evening where you were given an hour to do a mission.
you failed (the mission being that you had to carry an egg on a spoon around the entire house without dropping it, but mingyu accidentally bumped into you...), but you were glad to see that chan had passed it (plus, it gave him a chance to give you a hug with no suspicion).
he hums. "well, do you wanna try some?" he asks, lifting his head to look at you. you blink a couple times, confused. "are you really going to go out there and try to lug back a bottle without them noticing you? because iâm not getting dragged into more karaoke.â
shaking his head slightly, he laughs, his voice vibrating against you. âno, i was thinking of something more like this,â
he pulls himself up so that heâs hovering over you. his eyes flicker over every feature of your face. you watch him, almost shuddering at his gaze. suddenly, youâre thankful for the lack of light, because you donât want to imagine how red your face is; itâs been awhile since you and chan have been doing, well, whatever heâs doing.
before you can really ask about that, he captures your lips in a hungry kiss. you let your eyes flutter shut at the contact. the whole move is pretty cheesy, but the acidic taste of wine on his lips distracts you well enough to ignore the thought.
itâs an addicting flavor, and you swipe your tongue against his lips, greedily taking as much as heâll give you.
itâs always moments like this where chan lets loose. normally, heâs shy about his love, even when you two are alone, so itâs always a surprise whenever heâs got alcohol in his system. it almost makes you forget that heâs the one who suggested keeping you two a secret.
he parts his lips, letting your tongue roam, sighing when he feels your hand cup the back of his neck and pull it closer to you.
you two donât really keep track of how long this goes on for, both of you being dazed in some way. but finally, you pull back.
thereâs a couple seconds of breathless panting before he grins at you. âtaste good?â
you smile back, âeh, would probably be better from a glassâ, laughing when he gives you a look of defeat and collapses next to you, quick to pull you back into his embrace.
by now, itâs probably some wild hour in the night, and you know that chan should head out before someone barges in to go to sleep, but he doesnât seem to want to let go.
âchan,â you warn, looking up at him to find that heâs practically passed out already, eyes closed as he breathes shallowly. âchan, you should go.â you say, even though you donât really want him to.
âiâll be out before someone gets here, theyâre all bound to just sleep on the ground at this rate,â he yawns, tightening his grip on you.
if you knew any better, youâd push him off the bed, but for right now, you choose to believe him and you fall asleep to the sound of his heart beat.
-
âdonât jeonghan and dokyeom do this all time? itâs not anything abnormalâŚâ
âokay well not like that!â
âjust let them be, itâs probably nothing.â
ânah, what the hell.â
âthe water isnât working again!â
you faintly hear a mush of voices overlapping each other, but itâs none of your concern right now. chan has most definitely not left yet, still snuggled up against you.
the smart choice right now is to get up and check whatâs on the agenda for today, but you donât make that choice and decide to rest for a bit more. the warmth of chanâs body is a little too comfortable right now.
he stirs and shuffles a bit before you feel his hair tickle your neck as he seemingly looks up and plants a soft kiss to your jaw.
bad idea.
âHUH?â
âTHEYâRE DATING GUYS THEYâRE DATINGâ
âdamn chan i didnât know you had it in you!â
âeughâ
your eyes fly open as you practically pop up into a sitting position. chan does the same.
youâre both equally as horrified to see that a good amount of the members are standing near the foot of your bed. theyâre either shouting or standing with a hand covering their mouths.
chan groans besides you, falling back onto the bed as basically slam your face into a pillow.
looks like you two are never being left alone again.

sylus had never cared for his birthdayâuntil you.Â
year after year, he preferred to let the day slip by undetected. no half-hearted well wishes, no unwanted gifts. it wasâŚsimpler that way.
but when youâd come into his life, heâd allowed himself to be naive. to imagine spending the day with you, happy and untroubled.Â
with only a few days to spareâhe still hadnât told you his birthdayâyouâd thrown yourself into his lap as a last resort. with big eyes and a pleading pout, youâd coaxed him into telling you the date, and heâd folded like a paper crane: april 18.
but instead of the satisfied smile heâd anticipated, your exaggerated pout became real; you were crestfallen. you had a mandatory mission scheduled for that day, youâd told him. and heâd cracked a smart joke in response.Â
he should have seen it coming, with fateâs constant assault on him. it was foolish for a man like him to ever hope for anything.Â
heâd be okay on his own, just like he had been in all the decades prior, but for once in his life heâd been looking forward to celebrating with you. and perhaps, just a little, being celebrated. it would have been nice. unfamiliar, yes, but if you were the one doing the celebratingâŚnice.
he supposes thereâs always next year, thoughâif you still tolerate him by then.
with a heavy sigh, sylus steps into the base after a late-night joy ride, too consumed by his woes to sense the figures scattered in the shadows of the living room.Â
the next second, something soft and warm pounces on his back, and the familiar feel of your body is the only thing keeping you from being flipped and pinned to the floorâand not in the way that he fantasizes about.Â
he relaxes almost immediately, and as he steadies you in his strong arms, you lean down to speak into his ear: âsurprise,â you murmur, lips brushing his cheek in a lingering kiss.Â
âSURPRISE!â come the calls of the other culprits. in sync as usual, luke and kieran pop up from their hiding spots, jazz hands on full display. and it seems that mephisto is the final accomplice, with his excited caws echoing through the room.
sylus sets you down gently when the lights flick on. crimson streamers and balloons adorn the room, but not to be outdone is the giant, crow-shaped cake staring up at him from the coffee table. a party hat made of frosting and sprinkles sits atop its head.
as he takes in the scene before him, sylusâs stunned face softens with mirth. clearing his throat, he gives the twins a grateful nod, and they preen at his approval. with an excited high-five, they shuffle out of the room, tugging a displeased mephisto with them by the tail.Â
in the quiet that follows, he pulls you close, feeling the warmth of your bodies blend. he holds you like this for a few momentsâswaying gently in each otherâs embrace, surrounded by the signs of your love.Â
a few more beats, and he pulls away slightlyâjust enough to cradle your cheek in his calloused hand. and when he rasps a quiet âthank you,â eyes shining like polished rubies, he hopes you can feel his sincerity.Â

ŕź fiance!nanami x f!reader. this !!
it's been a long week, and rightfully the both of you are beyond exhausted. drained and horrible frustrated â starved of one another.
but the day drags on, reluctantly following in tow when your coworkers suggest a drink to wrap up the week.
returning to the sanctuary of home only hours later; with a stagger to your step and your cheeks streaked in a light brush of pink, throwing aside your shoes haphazardly.
"kento?" you call, muttering under your breath about why the home is so dark, as you venture in further shedding the outer layers of your work clothes as you do.
he sits with his legs sprawled wide on the couch, his usual neat hair in disarray. kento's spotted tie is loose on his neck and his shirt open enough to reveal his warm chest. god he looks good enough to eat. his skin glistening and a glass half filled with the golden liquid that is no doubt the culprit for reducing nanami to the mess he currently is.
he watches you in silence for a long moment, "there y're m'love" he reaches for you, taking you by the wrist and pulling you into his lap, your back to his firm chest.
kento rests his head on your shoulder, his hands firmly planted in your waist begin to wander. stroking your sides over your blouse moving up further to cup your chest in his large hands, the other sliding through the waistband of your pants, resting between your legs.
"tell me about your week pretty. 've missed you, y'know" kento's voice is husky and low, fiddling with the fabric of your panties, teasing your pussy through it. his movement slow and contained â for some reason you aren't convinced that's all that will come from this, but your own fuzzy brain doesn't dwell on it.
relaxing your body against his, you begin telling him about your week as best as you could. tripping over your words every so often. kento hums along to you words, holding your chin in his fingers as he tilts your head to be face to face with him.
he watches with low lidded eyes as you speak, until he crashes his lips against yours, cutting you off mid sentence. he kisses you deep and messy, holding you close to him as he does.
kento guides you to lay back on the couch; too needy to break away from the kiss, he only does to ensure you're okay. you've spoken about your boundaries before but he can't help asking yet again.
"is this okay?"
"yeah.." he looks so beautiful like this.
"are you sure?" and he's so kind about it too, you can't help but smiling at him. oh your love is so kind. so gentle with you.
" 'm sure kento. make me feel good, please love?"
his mind is swimming in his adoration for you, so tender in how he touches you â and you look at him like he hung the stars in the sky, he wishes he did.
"of course, anything for you."
kissing down your body, rough hands intertwining with yours â kento makes love to you. grinding his bulge into your core until he can't handle the pesky fabric keeping him apart from you. balancing his weight on one of his arms the other goes to undo his thick leather belt, fumbling with the heavy metal of the buckle before freeing his hardened cock from its confines.
he slaps it down on on your count through your panties, once, twice, before pulling them aside and rubbing himself against your glistening folds and finally pushes into you. letting out a small drunken giggle at your whines at his teasing.
"stop teasing kento, you're being a dick"
"mm i suppose i am love, and you're taking mine so nicely"
"kento!"
he laughs at that, feeling awfully playful â even as you slap his shoulder; and he's comfortable. comfortable enough in your embrace to let the playfulness shine through.
"i love you."
"you love teasing me."
"that too. only sometimes"
you raise an eyebrow at him, unimpressed and kento plants a soft kiss on your nose and flashes you a sweet boyish grin in return; starting off on a hard albeit messy pace with his thrusts â getting to watch in real time as all your thoughts and snark remarks evaporate into senseless loving pleasure.

⢠Life â˘
Sukuna grappling becoming a father while you give birth.
CW/TW: GN! reader, Labour/Childbirth, Sukuna typical violence mentions, BRIEF suggestive stuff, Nothing graphic, Religious metaphors & LOTS of life/death talk, (LMK if I should add anything else!)
Characters: Sukuna x Reader
AN: Nobody dies in this fic! It's fluff-ish. (It's Sukuna and reader giving birth, as fluffy as that can be man), prequel to this Descendant fic
Life was such a fickle thing, not that it mattered to Sukuna. He was above life, death sickness and health, beyond it, above the proper empathy to care for it. It wasn't that he didn't understand, because he did, once mortal himself, and existing on this earth surrounded by the humanity that populated on it for years as a curse, he understood. But there was no legitimate reason for it to matter to him unless he could gain from a life, there was no reason to mind it.
And by the loose, greedy and otherwise just gluttonous standards of what it meant to be a creature of 'gain' to Sukuna, you fit it to the T, your life mattered to him. Your life, it was something he wanted, no needed to maintain to be kept satisfied, if you weren't there to be by his side, he'd be left starved.
To lose such a thing, would only ignite a certain wrath inside of him.
The screams of agony that parted from your pretty little lips had his chest twisting into a feeling of irritation. He much preferred your screams of ecstasy, making you scream his name in sweet pretty moans when he bedded you. Not this, screams of something he was also the culprit of in fairness, sobbed screams of pain as your body tore to birth his child.
Sukuna enjoyed such screeches of terror, weak defeated sobs he could rip and tear from the pathetic lot of mortals he terrorized, all of whose lives served no purpose to him. The issue is, yours does serve purpose, a great purpose to Sukuna. You're always there, by his side, and when you're not, it bothers him, he's greedy, hungry for you.
Your pain only infuriates him, he doesn't like it at all, no, he loathes listening to it.
Finally, finally, it stops after what felt like torturously long, it comes to a stop. Like that, the tightness inside his chest unwrapped, Sukuna didn't think he'd ever feel relief, he wouldn't need to, he had never fought an opponent he couldn't defeat, pillaged an army that would come close to his strength there was no concerns or worry for him to have to be relieved from. Yet here he was basking in such relief. Your screams stop, now instead replaced by the bothersome cries of something much more smaller. Squeaky small wails, that of an infant. his infant.
"Lord Sukuna." A muttered voice of one of the midwives comes through the door separating Sukuna from the delivery room. The door opens to the midwives attending finishing up and then all bowing in submission, their heads hanging low as Sukuna stands by the door-frame.
"Done?" He asks, more so a statement, a demand as everything he speaks is.
"Yes-" The meek voice of a midwife responds, she not daring to look up from the floor of the delivery room.
"Then what the hell are you dimwitted fools doing? OUT." There's the slightest growl in his voice at the command, one that though slight works wonders on any who dare stand in his presence, and to which without a moment of hesitation has all the midwives scatter out of the room, rushing out with their heads low. Only one pauses to shut the door behind herself, not wanting to risk the stupidity of leaving the door open.
Now, only the sounds of a baby's cries echo in the room, the small thing wrapped, protected in a small blanket. The moment is deafening as it is loud, there are as many thoughts as there is nothing in his eyes as he stares at the small baby you held. Yes, you made his child, 9 tedious months of him practically carrying you around everywhere and it was out now.
Sukuna was, well Sukuna, he didn't bother thinking much of the specifics, but rather the obvious reality of the situation during those passing months, and didn't see a reason to. He could still sleep with you, could still have you around, could still listen to your voice speak with him in converse. Was it different? Sure, but in no way that bothered him. Cravings? The King of the Curses can provide feasts. Tired? You needn't walk, he has four arms for a reason. The bodily change? Sukuna guts humans like pigs, the size of your stomach was far from grotesque to such a demon like Sukuna.
But now, he is met with the reality, the sight, the sound the smell of the newborn babe, absolutely reeking of familiarity, a literal complete being of two halves, Sukuna and you. It's overwhelming, and not in the way Sukuna likes, not in the hedonistic pleasures he enjoys but rather overwhelming in thoughts. Thoughts as rampant as blank in his mind, fogged like he was considering all of this.
"Sukuna." A clear call of his name comes from your throat despite its audible hoarseness of exhaustion, still as captivating as always, catching his entire attention. No one can command the Sukuna, but he doesn't need to be commanded when you call for him, because it's in his full will and gratification to come to your side, which he of course does. Stepping softly to where you are laid, surrounded by stained sheets, tools and incense presumably used in aid of the birth.
"What?" His throat rumbles, a question with no particular answer aside from the obvious literal whole baby you had birthed in your arms.
"Look at them... Beautiful, aren't they?" And perhaps by the grace of a god he'd doubted existed, there was a moment of serenity now, the fog cleared from the depths of his sick mind as he gazed upon the small bundle in your arms. That was your grace perhaps, no definitely, definitely your grace, you had bore his child.
That damned sinister grin came over his face as he reached down to the infant, the large monstrously large hand of his ever so delicately traced the cheek of the little one, a comical contrast between himself and the child. For the entirety of you and Sukuna's time spent together, he had considered you the only life that truly mattered to him, and now you had created a life from the mere womb, you've given him another life he'd find true importance in.
His child's life, blessed by the sanctified arms that cradled it.
"Divine, rather." He rumbled, a short snicker leaving his twisted tongue, but laced with genuine adoration. Utter devotion to this small life, to both two lives he had found himself so graciously gifted. Of you, of his child.

everybody talks
i could not tell you what this is. i wrote it all in one sitting. enjoy or whatever
It starts with the graffiti.
Scribbled in thick, permanent marker across the boys' gym lockers.
STEVE HARRINGTON FUCKS EDDIE MUNSON
The custodian tries half-heartedly to scrub it off, but he only manages to get about a letter and a half off the locker before his shift is over. It's back up by the next day anyway.
Half the school is walking on tiptoes around Steve, waiting for him to blow up and demand a manhunt for the culprit.
The other half is snickering and laughing as he walks by in the halls.
Steve doesn't give two shits. He holds his head up high and walks onwards, ignoring the laughs and the kissy noises. He needs to graduate. He needs to not get eaten by a terrifying monster from an alternate reality. More pressing things happen to Steve Harrington than grade school graffiti.
Until he turns the corner and sees Eddie Munson glaring furiously at his closed locker.
He doesn't speak to him. Even if the graffiti isn't a big deal, there's no need to add any fuel to the fire.
Eddie finally steps forward and wrenches open his locker door. The crowd milling in the halls begins to laugh.
Papers spill out, dozens of them, cascading over the floor and burying Eddie's shoes. One slides all the way to Steve's feet.
He looks down automatically.
There's an atrocious drawing of two stick figures bent over each other. The one on the bottom has two lines of curly hair, while the one on the top has a singular swooping line of graphite.
Great.
Steve swiftly scoops it up and crumples it in his fist, shoving it in his pocket. He'll toss it out later.
As he hustles past Eddie, steadfastly not looking in his direction, he thinks he hears Eddie mutter, "Every class period."
Steve turns a corner, and the train wreck that is Eddie's locker is gone.
He slides into his seat, knowing the band girls who sit in the back corner of the classroom are whispering about him, but finding he couldn't care less.
The teacher starts class.
He reaches into his pocket and slides the crumpled paper between his fingers, over and over.
Steve raises his hand. "Can I go to the bathroom?"
The teacher nods and waves him away, and Steve scrambles out the door, rounding the corner.
Eddie's still there, kneeling by his locker, trying to scoop up papers.
Steve kneels next to him. "Hey."
Eddie jumps like an alley cat that's been spooked. Steve could swear his hair starts bristling, puffing up.
"Your majesty," Eddie finally says, glaring back at the pile of paper like Steve'll disappear if he doesn't look at him. "To what do I owe the pleasure."
It's not really a question.
Steve answers it anyway. "Came to help," he says simply, picking up a piece of paper that has EDDIE MUNSON X STEVE HARRINGTON written on it in bold letters, surrounded by stupid little hearts. "After all, my name's on half this stuff."
"How kind," Eddie said. "Keeping me distracted while your buddies key my van or something?"
Steve reels back. "Huh?"
"I'm not dumb, Harrington," Eddie says, crumpling up another sheet of paper. Steve can barely catch EDDIE HARRINGTON on it before it's balled in Eddie's fist. "I get this is a prank or whatever. I just can't understand why you'd involve yourself with me. The King and the Freak."
"'Cause I'm not the King anymore." Steve says, standing to drag a nearby garbage can closer. It's already half-full of papers. "You sure don't listen to gossip, Munson. Billy beat my ass and I lost every friend I had. So. I think it's a prank on both of us."
"Oh."
Eddie, wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles, shuts the fuck up. Steve had seen people lose their meals to his impassioned school cafeteria rants, but it only takes Steve Harrington to shut Munson's infamous mouth.
Wait, that sounds wrong.
They keep cleaning in silence - relatively. Steve starts balling up the papers and tossing them at the trash can, unable to stop himself from hissing out a yes! if he makes the throw.
"Impressive," Eddie says dryly. "Can you do this?" He raises one hand in the air like he's about to take a pledge, and in the other he folds and rolls a slip of paper until it's shaped like a joint.
Steve chuckles. "Nope." He takes the fake joint, and it comes undone in his palm, revealing the same crude stick figure couple from earlier.
Right.
Steve had forgotten what they were doing here.
Evidently, Eddie had too. He looks down at the drawing, then snatches the paper from Steve, tossing it in the trash, two spots of pink high on his cheeks.
He scoops the last of the papers into his arms, dumping them in the trash can. "You can go back to class," he tells Steve, settling down with his back against the locker.
"What are you doing?" Steve says, slightly caught off-guard by the dismissal.
"Seeing if those pricks will try to do it again." Eddie says, folding his knees up to his chest. "They do it all the time. I think there's a jungle's worth of trees just being used to make shit for my locker."
"You're just gonna guard it?" Steve asks.
"Sure," Eddie says, picking at a piece of lint on his shirt. "What else have I got to do?"
Steve plops himself down next to Eddie. "I'll guard with you," he says stubbornly.
"Seriously?" Eddie asks, like Steve's particularly slow. Steve's gotten that tone of voice a lot in his life.
"Yeah." Steve says. He parrots, "What else have I got to do?"
"You're just gonna fuel the rumors, dude." Eddie says. "My name's mud around here. You know that damn well."
"Sure," Steve shrugs. "But it hasn't been half-bad hanging out with you, and I don't care what these jackasses think of me anymore. Bigger things to worry about."
They settle into a comfortable silence, watching the students pass by, their whispered comments and curious glances bouncing off the duo. Eddie taps his fingers rhythmically on the ground, humming a tune Steve doesn't recognize but finds oddly comforting.
He reaches into his pocket to feel the small paper, then tugs it out. Is it dumb that a stupid drawing is making him think about himself this much?
"Hey, Eddie," Steve starts, hesitating. "Can I ask you something?"
"Shoot," Eddie says idly.
"How do you... I mean, when did you know you were gay?" Steve asks, his voice barely above a whisper.
Eddie's expression turns to one of suspicion, but he answers anyway. "I guess I always knew, deep down. But I really figured it out in middle school." He looks at Steve out of the corner of his eye. "Why?"
Steve bites his lip, considering his next words carefully. "I think I might be... different too. I mean, I've only ever dated girls, but lately, I don't know. I feel... something."
Something means he worried for weeks when Billy beat the shit out of him because suddenly all these feelings were tugging at his brain. Feelings for people like Eddie Munson.
Eddie's eyes widen slightly, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. (What? Steve's not looking at his lips. Huh?) "Steve Harrington, the former King of Hawkins High, might not be straight? Now that's some gossip I'd actually pay attention to."
"Shut up," Steve mutters, but he's smiling too. "I'm serious."
"Well..." Eddie trails off. "We can try it out?"
Steve's heart skips a beat. "Huh?"
"We can try it out." Eddie repeats. "But, uh," he leans close, his breath ghosting over the shell of Steve's ear. "Just so you know, I prefer to be the one on top."
Weeks later, the school is overtaken by a new kind of graffiti. Papers plastered to every surface, a spiky handwriting (usually used to write setlists and D&D character sheets) adorning each and every one of them.

Linchpin
The GIW have finally done it; they finally rid the world of the strongest ghost in their recorded history and the world finally know peace from ghost kind.
Watchtower - Four years three months later.
"Right," Tim Drake-Wayne aka Red Robin stood before a small council of Batman, Wonder Woman, Booster Gold, Martian Manhunter and the Flash, "Thank you, everyone for allowing me to request this meeting but it's imperative that this matter be seen to before something irreversible comes to pass."
"Red Robin, wandering."
"Right, sorry." Tim taps away on the computer and pulls up several of his personal photos from his day off last month of the night sky with two bright pinpoints of lights. "This is the night sky with Alpha Centauri a month ago. I was on vacation and managed to get some good pictures for that night but something else happened that night." He pulls up another photo of the same night sky but one of the stars were gone.
"Where'd the left star go," Flash asks as he pulls over a digital copy of the two pictures.
"I don't know but it's still not there. A month ago Proxima Centauri went out and no one's saying anything about it online. I was hoping to petition the Justice League to borrow the Watchtower's computer and telescope to check the area."
"I don't see why that would be an issue," Wonder Woman says as she also looks over the pictures with the flash. "Batman?"
"I don't have a problem with it but it needed someone not connected to the issue to vote on it." With that said they voted to let Tim borrow the computer's telescope and began scanning the area. Several hours later they had a really clear picture of the area Proxima Centauri had been. In its spot there was nothing; no gas, no planets, no nebulas or anything but darkness.
"We should probably get Green Lantern or one of the space heroes." Batman's Hn spoke leagues to his current mood.
_____________________________________________________________
"So your little bird was right, Bats. Proxima's gone and it's not the only one. The Guardian's have been receiving distress calls for several universal cycles. Tamaran, Corona Seven, Betelgeuse, Alpha Corvi to name some." Hal says as he reads from a list projected from his ring, "They've traced a Decay Field originating from Earth over four years ago. Supposedly failed supervillain attack? Experimentation gone wrong?"
"We're unsure. We've talked with the United Nations and no one's come forward with anything concrete. We do have a list the length of the Batmobile of possible culprits though."
"Sorry but what's a Decay Field? I can hear those capital letters and don't just say it's a field that decays stuff." Flash asks, looking up from his portion of experiments.
"But it is... The Guardian's explained it like a kill switch to certain technologies. Something happened on Earth four years that made the universe start eating itself."
"Then why not start with our sun? Why start at a star 4 light years away," Batman asks, putting down the League's digitized stellar map, "If the field originated on Earth, Sol should have been the first to vanish."
"Strange isn't it?"
A burst of static comes from the speakers at the table, causing a couple to flinch before a corrupted male voice speaks to them.

FINDING OUT â RAFE CAMERON ARRANGED MARRIAGE AU
WARNINGS: sexism, alcohol, and smoking

You and Rafe had known each other since childhoodânot by choice, but by circumstance. Your father and Rafeâs father, Ward Cameron, were business partnersâboth powerful men who built their empires on power, money, secrecy, control, and manipulation. You knew very well that their business wasnât built in a day; it had been passed down through generations, from their fathers and grandfathers, who had risen to power through corruption and dirty work, reaching a status other people could only dream of.
Growing up, you would walk downstairs in the princess gown your mother bought you, only to be met with hushed whispers and men in tailored suits huddled in deep conversation around the dining room table. And then there was Rafe Cameronâthe Kook King, the golden boy of Figure Eightâwho seemed to only speak in blunt truths. You and Rafe werenât friends by any means, more like two spoiled children forced to be around each other while your fathers drank overpriced whiskey and discussed business deals. You knew his sister, though. The two of you werenât best friends, but you were friendly. She was outgoing and fun, while you had always been more reserved and shy. Still, you often found yourself with her whenever your fathers were around.
Now, years later, you found yourself sitting at the same long, polished oak dining table in Tannyhill. Your mother had dressed you in a pale pink satin dress, which felt completely out of place as you sat beside her, the thick smoke of cigars floating above your head and creating a sense of dread in your stomach.
Ward Cameron sat at the head of the table, swirling the rim of his whiskey glass with his finger before finally pulling the attention to himself.
"Your father and I have been thinking for a while, and weâve decided that the best way to strengthen our power and alliance is to bind our families together. Which is where you two come in," Ward said, his eyes darting between Rafe and your father, as if you werenât even there. "So, weâve arranged a marriage between the two of you. Itâs the only way this can happen."
The swirling air of cigars felt heavier. Your chest tightened with his words. Marriage itself didnât scare you, not at all. In fact, the idea had always sent you into a girlish state of planning every detailâfrom the exact cut of your ring to the names of your future children. But this was different. Instead of your dream man, it was Rafe Cameronâa man a few years older than you, a risk-taker, and, quite frankly, someone you could never have imagined marrying.
"You canât be serious," Rafe said, his voice flat, void of emotion. "This has to be some sort of joke." He finished, slamming his bourbon glass onto the table.
"Your father and I never joke about business; you should know that by now," your father replied, pouring himself another glass of whiskey.
In your head, your thoughts raced. Why is this happening? Isnât this outdated? Why am I not even part of this conversation? And why is everyone drinking bitter, old-fashioned alcohol but me?
But you already knew the answer to thatâyou had only just turned twenty, and it wouldnât be ladylike, would it?
"And quite frankly, it doesnât matter if you donât want to do this," Ward continued. "Weâve already started the arrangements. The venue is booked, and the process is underway. Iâd appreciate it if you learned a lesson from your future wife about not questioning your father."
The attention was suddenly on you. Lifting your eyes slightly from your lap, you felt the burning stares of the three men.
Your father looked at you with a sense of prideânot for who you were, but for your silence. Ward was watching you closely, as if expecting your compliance to influence Rafeâs resistance. And Rafe? He was looking at you like you were the mastermind behind this whole thingâas if you were the culprit of the situation.
"Well, thatâs because sheâs already playing into the compliant wife role, isnât she?" Rafe scoffed, his knuckles turning white. "Iâm not going to sit here, keep my eyes on my lap, and stay silent like some obedient puppy." Though his voice was sharp, there was something uncertain in his wordsâlike a question buried beneath his frustration.
You knew better than to answer.
You had learned early on never to question your fatherâor any man who held power, for that matter. So, instead of speaking up like any normal woman might, you remained in your seat, forcing your mind to drift to somethingâanythingâpositive about this situation.
The only thing that came to mind was the wedding itself. The dresses. The dream ring. The excitement of planning.
You didnât even notice your mother pulling your hand into hers, "How about the two of us girls leave and start talking about the more important thingsâdresses, color themes, and more wedding planning? You all can finish talking business," she suggested.
Your father nodded without sparing you so much as a glance.
Your mother led you to the living room, where Rose, Rafeâs stepmother, sat with a cup of tea, flipping through a wedding planner.
"Oh, Iâm glad you two managed to escape that conversation; Iâm sure it was dreadful," Rose said with a soft smile. "Please, sit. Your mother and I have already been going over some ideas for the wedding, but we figured you should have most of the control. Itâs the least we can do, considering this whole... situation." She reached for your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze before setting a baby blue binder on your lap.
"W-Wow... you guys really started planning," you muttered, your thumb tracing the engraved words Wedding Planner on the cover. "Is there some kind of order we should go in? L-Like, I know you all want the... wedding to happen soon...?" You trailed off, lifting your gaze from the binder to the two women.
Your mother let out a soft chuckle, placing her hands over yours. "Well, thatâs one way to put it, sweetie. I figured weâd start with the ring and the dress, and weâd plan the colors and theme around that."
A small smile tugged at your lips. "Y-Yeah... that sounds good. When can we go?"
Rose and your mother exchanged glances before Rose beamed."How about tomorrow? And if we donât find anything, we can always order some custom dresses or travel to find the perfect one!"
"That sounds amazing, actually," you giggled, closing the binder and setting it down on the glass coffee table.
Your mother squeezed your hand gently, her expression warm. "Iâm glad, honey. Weâll make a day out of itâshopping, wedding planning, maybe even a spa visit."
Rose placed her tea cup on the table and nodded. "Perfect! Weâll leave tomorrow around ten. You two should get some rest nowâIâll let your father know."
You gave Rose a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Rose. Iâm excited for tomorrow."
As you and your mother left the Cameron estate, she drove homeâa short trip filled with comfortable silence.
When you arrived, you bid her goodnight, thanking her before heading upstairs. You climbed the grand staircase, undressed from the upscale dress into a nightgown, and finally lay your head against your silk pillows.
With a deep breath, you let your thoughts drift to some far-off fantasy, whispering to yourself a quiet hope that maybeâjust maybeâit would all be okay.

The exact moment Rook became Viagosâs most Trusted (and biggest headache)
It is well known that internal struggles between the great houses of the Crows are ruthless and never out in the open.
Rook, still a fledgling under Viagoâs wing, stumbled upon one such plot by sheer chance. A rival house had devised a plan to eliminate the Fifth Talon during a gathering of the houses. Their weapon was a new, insidious poison, designed to work with a delayed effect on Viagoâs body, which had been carefully trained over the years to resist most known toxins. It would act just slowly enough to make tracing the culprit impossible. With the event being a gathering of Crowsâfriends and rivals in equal measureâidentifying the perpetrator would be nearly impossible amidst the crowd.
Rook knew there was no time to warn Viago, and certainly no way to accuse another crow without concrete evidence. Even the slightest hint of an accusation could ignite a power struggle that would destabilize the entire house. There was only one way to ensure the truth would be undeniable.
When the moment of the toast arrived, Rook watched as Viago raised his glass, his expression calm and unreadable as always. Rookâs heart pounded, but they moved with practiced confidence, stepping forward smoothly.
Before Viago could bring the glass to his lips, Rook snatched it from his hand. They turned to the room, raising the glass high with a sharp, defiant smile that betrayed none of their fear.
âSalud,â Rook said, locking eyes with the traitor in the crowd.
And then they drank.
The room fell silent as the glass was lowered, empty. For a moment, nothing happened. But then Rookâs face paled, their vision blurred, and their knees buckled. They managed to place the glass back on the table with trembling fingers before collapsing.
âWhat the hell do you think youâre doing?!â Viago snapped, his voice cutting through the stunned silence. He moved to catch Rook, his anger barely masking the edge of concern. Then he saw itâthe telltale signs of poison taking hold: the sweat beading on their brow, the way their breath came in short, labored gasps.
âThereâs⌠some left in the glass,â Rook murmured weakly, their voice fading. âFor you to analyze.â
Their body went limp in Viagoâs arms.
The room erupted in whispers. âPoison,â someone breathed, the word spreading like wildfire.
Viagoâs expression darkened, his commanding presence immediately silencing the crowd. âClear the room,â he ordered, his voice low and deadly. âNow.â
The gathered Crows scattered, their obedience immediate. Within moments, only Viago, Rook, and a few of his most trusted crows remained.Â
For hours, Viago worked relentlessly, using every antidote and remedy at his disposal. Despite their training, Rookâs body wasnât prepared for such a sophisticated toxin, and their life hung by a thread.
Viagoâs usual composure wavered as he watched their pulse weaken. âYou reckless idiot,â he muttered, his voice rough, as if speaking to himself. âWhy would you do something so damn stupid?â
The minutes stretched into eternity. Then, finally, Rook stirred. They managed a faint, tired smirk. âHey boss...â they croaked, their voice barely audible.
Relief washed over Viago, though his stern expression barely softened. âI should strangle you right now.â
Rook chuckled weakly, their smile lingering. âBut did it work?â
Viago exhaled sharply, shaking his head. âYou proved your point.â His voice dropped, quieter now.
As Rookâs eyes began to drift shut again, Viago leaned in one last time, his voice steady but laced with an unmistakable tenderness. âBut if you ever pull a stunt like that again and dare to die,â he hissed, his tone both a plea and a command, âIâll come after you in the Fade myself just to kill you again.â

I just had the silliest dream đ
I dreamt that I was play fighting with Phainon and he accidentally put me in a headlock, but the thing is that I liked it?! đ He was confused for a moment before he just looked around, saw that he had a few minutes before anyone would notice and he just held me like that.
He's been laughing for an hour straight â or at least, that's how it felt like to you, in retrospect.
âI know you can't keep your hands off of me, but in this semi-populated space? How bold of you, honeycakes.â a duvetyne whisper that raises to jitters of glee.
You roll your eyes just a little, not to actually look at the cause of your crescendoing irritation but to send the heat of it. The culprit graciously pretends your death glare in favor of giving another friendly squeeze around your neck, a breath caresses your cheek.
âSpeak for yourself. Who's the one choking me like a snake?â you push somewhat experimentally against his grip, halted by the twitch of muscles beneath the fabric of his attire.
It was not news to you that this man couldn't be better than a stone wall if he wished to be, but possessed by the whimsy of being able to walk outside again, you went and poked the bear anyway.
You push down a sigh of regret â or rather, he does it for you with another squeeze that you can't tell is by intention or not.
âWhat a villainous image! I'm merely making sure the clumsy rabbit doesn't run away to twist someone else's arm!â he spins you by his clasp just in time to shield you from a group of passerbys.
It takes a second for you to regain your balance, âAnd it's fine if the rabbit twists your arm?â you feel your back press against his chest, involuntarily, you must stress.
âYes.â Phainon's response is just a little too easily said for your brain to not buffer for a moment. You try to crane your neck to gauge what face he's making, but he decides to be disobedient.
âYou're shameless.â you fire in frustration, stuck in his stubborn hold.
âI know that,â he purrs, right in your left ear. âAnd?â
He's really done it now, closing in on you from all directions like a nightmare entity ; luring each piece of your composure to loosen with his redolent trickery. There's a fulsome heat in your cheeks that you can't push away, or loathe fully because you did assist by giving him the opportunity to begin with.
âAnd...â the hero holds his breath, leaning just a little. âAnd this walk was a mistake.â you heave.
There's a few beats of silence before he loses his hold on his laughs. You don't bother schooling your expression in any picture of annoyance this time, letting your body go limp against him.
âAww, are you pouting?â a poke to your cheek has some semblance of energy resurface, not that you utilize it to give him any more of a reaction.
Phainon finally, finally loosens his death grip around your head, but his arm itself stays in place. âDon't be. I'll let you win next time, honeycakes.â
He laughs at your push like it was but a nudge, refusing to budge an inch from your space. âSave it, I don't need your pity.â
âAs you wish.â he nods with faux seriousness, giggling again at his own antics after not even a minute as if he's lost it. You offer nothing but exasperation on your face, considering very carefully the life decisions you've made.

â§.*ŕłââˇ
Begrudgingly trekking down to the floors of the flat to escape the deafening sounds of the fire alarm, you joined the others on the field who had actually bothered getting out in the dead of the night for what was definitely the 5th practice alarm of the month. Youâd almost not given in, the warmth your blankets had provided you too precious to lose. But the blaring of the alarm was unforgiving, and despite your efforts to block it out, the damage had been done - you were awake.Â
You stumbled clumsily onto the field, slippers being your swift choice of footwear was beginning to prove ineffective. The mix of people murmuring in the dark, complaining, some yawning hit your ears as you struggled to navigate the crowd of bodies. The field being pitch black wasnât helping, but right as that thought had passed through your head, the blazing rays of a torchlight rendered you blind, the sight actually leaving your eyes for a solid minute. âHey!,â you croaked out, squinting through the pain to see where it had come from. The culprit jumped in surprise, torch flying out of their hands and hitting the same affected eye with a whack. âOUCH,â was all you were able to yell, a hand instinctively clutched over the affected eye. As if the aching from the first incident hadnât been enough, the throbbing pain pulsating in your eye now made you sure you were going to wake up with a nasty bruise.
âOh fuck, Iâm SO sorry, oh my god,â the voice of the offender rambled out, hands coming up to your shoulders in panic. Though the pain hadnât subsided yet, you moved your hands from your eyes, opening them curiously to catch a glimpse of the owner of the voice. Your breath caught in your throat. Bright blue eyes flicked over your face, rosy lips turned down into a concerned frown. Choppy tresses the same colour as her alluring eyes, save for a singular pink streak, framed her freckled face. She was so breathtaking, the predicament you had found yourself in was slowly being forgotten.
âHello, are you good? Do you need medical help?? Oh god, what have I done?â the panicked rambling forced you back to reality.Â
âIâm-Itâs fine. It was an accident,â you managed to huff out, her hands sliding away from your shoulder as she stepped back. Her gaze still ran over your face, thoroughly examining you with a guilt-ridden expression. Your right eye was still burning with pain, but you couldnât even really be that mad at a face like that. Though, you did make a mental note not to ever bother acting accordingly with the fire drill again - leaving your bed had only caused an embarrassing interaction with a very attractive woman.Â
âAre you sure youâre okay?â The girl wasnât letting go easily, eyebrows drawn in concern as she observed you trying to play it off, admittedly failing. You wished the ground would just open up and swallow you, this whole spectacle reducing you to a mumbling mess. Â
âIâm fine,â you forced yourself to speak with a cheer to your voice, facing the girl with a smile you prayed to whatever powers were listening was normal. âLook, doesnât even hurt anymore,â you pulled your hand away from your face, instantly mentally facepalming for your choice of unconvincing words. The girl raised an eyebrow in incredulity, but nodded reluctantly. âIâm so, so sorry, again.âÂ
You chose not to speak, opting for a shake of your head and a tiny smile. As if the gods above had decided your suffering was finally enough, the guards of the building had given the green light, announcing it was safe for everyone to finally go back in. You sighed in relief, shuffling as quickly as you could to get back into your bed and pretend this was just a dream.Â
Alas, your wish wasnât granted - when you got in the elevator packed with several other people, who should at the last second sliver through the metal doors but the same blue-haired charmer from before. Her eyes briefly flashed in recognition as she took her spot besides you. Not daring to look, you watched out of the corner of your eye as she looked you up and down, a small smirk on her lips at your bear-covered pyjamas. You closed your eyes abruptly, wrapping your arms around yourself protectively. Your cheeks burned, and you swore you heard a faint giggle from her as she caught sight of it. Motherfucker.Â
As soon as the elevator dinged, you hurried out, your room suddenly not being close enough. You finally reached it, hastily pulling your keys out to unlock the door.Â
âOh hey, would you look at that,â the voice spoke cheerfully. You whipped around to meet the mischievous eyes of the girl standing in front of the room right across from you. âLooks like weâre neighbours, pretty girl!â
Your eyes widened at the boldness of the nickname. âGoodnight,â you uttered simply, pretending to ignore her taunting chuckle in response as you turned around and slammed the door behind you. You crashed onto the bed, throwing off your slippers and burrowing your head in the pillow. That was definitely a dream.Â
â§.*ŕłââˇ
It was most definitely not a dream. The morning after, the remnants of the impact ached, but for the most part you were unscathed. You shook off any distracting thoughts of the girl from last night, setting about having a productive day catching up with university work youâd been procrastinating. It was nearing the end of the afternoon when the knock came on your door. You looked up from your laptop screen, scanning your phone for any texts. None, and when any of your friends came over they always dropped a text beforehand to let you know. Your hands found your temples, massaging to alleviate the aching. Maybe attempting to study with the pain wasnât the best idea, you thought as you stared hard at the door, as if willing hard enough would make the person behind it go away. It wouldn't - they knocked twice again, slightly louder this time. You sighed in relent and crossed the room, opening the door to whoever was behind.Â
And who else was it but the girl whoâd plagued your thoughts all night. âYou,â you breathed out, staring in surprise. You hadnât meant to sound so contemptuous, regretting it when the girlâs confident gaze faltered for a second. She quickly recovered, holding up a plate. âHi. I made cupcakes,â she grinned, gaze steadily scanning your face.Â
You stood back, wordlessly inviting her in, not knowing what else to do. She looked around for a place to put them, deciding your desk would do. She turned back to you watching her actions curiously, then moved towards you quickly. You barely held in your yelp of surprise as her cool hands came up to your face, fingers running under the skin underneath your eye. Your eyes fixed on her concentrated gaze, struggling to get any protest out, the proximity striking you dumb. âWhat are you doingâ you finally stumbled out, voice just a tone above a light whisper. She stepped back abruptly, hands dropping to her sides as she smiled nervously. âThank god, toots, no damage done. How are you feeling?âÂ
Your hand briefly ghosted over where her hands had just been. Youâd already thoroughly examined the injured area in the mirror the moment youâd woken up, thankfully no mark had been left somehow. You shot her a look as she flopped down onto your bed, looking up at you expectedly. Resigning, you joined her on your bed, facing her.Â
âIâm completely fine,â your gaze flicked over to the sweet treat sheâd set down on your desk, âthanks for the cupcakes though, you didnât have to do all that,â replying genuinely. She smiled amusedly, waving a hand as if it was nothing. âConsider it an apology.â You returned her smile, the thoughtful gesture was a complete contradiction of her feigned nonchalance.Â
âSo whatâs all this,â she was holding a page of your dog-eared meticulously taken notes, trying to make out the words scribbled across it.Â
You rolled your eyes at her antics, âwell I was studying.â
âOh! What do you study?â
âPsychology,â you answered, shuffling the notes out of her reach, all plans of studying disturbed. âYou?â
âMechanical engineering. Different worlds then, huh?â she mused amusedly, shifting her position so she sat with her shoulder to yours.Â
âYou could say that,â you replied, still not adjusted to how comfortable she had made herself next to you. The wildly different degrees and schedules answered your question of how youâd never seen her around despite how close she lived. But here she was, dropping into your room like you were best friends, and with cupcakes - not that you were ungrateful, just completely stumped.
She watched you closely, puffing her cheeks and blowing the air out as she figured out her next proposal. âSoâŚ.what are we doing this evening?â
âWe???â you shot back, though your lips curled up despite yourself.Â
âYes, we,â she rolled her eyes lightheartedly, getting off your bed and walking backwards towards the door, âbe ready in 15 minutes. Gonna show you the best sight youâve ever laid your pretty eyes on,â she sang out.Â
âI donât even know your name!â you called out.Â
âItâs Powder!â her voice laughed back, voice fading as the door swung shut. You barely had time to process what had just occurred before you remembered the time limit sheâd given you, pulling yourself to hurriedly get ready.
â§.*ŕłââˇ
Ever since the day Powder had, by definition, dropped into your life, youâd become immeasurably close. Despite your slightly rocky start, from the night sheâd shown you the hidden rooftop where you could observe the cityâs twinkling lights for miles, youâd grown a bond that was undoubtedly unbreakable.Â
Of course, it wasnât immediate. Though youâd absolutely taken a liking to Powder, perhaps even from the moment sheâd hit that torch over your eye - putting yourself out there wasnât really a thing for you. You much preferred to stick to your own small circle of friends, the familiarity calming your nerves. But then Powder had come along, the very picture of candidness, spontaneity and openness - everything so unfamiliar it surprised you how much you craved more when you were apart. Though Powder was never away for too long.Â
Thinking back to the first evening youâd hung out, how she had her head thrown back, laughing at something insignificant youâd said. Calming down and nudging your shoulder with hers, so casually throwing out âI think weâre going to be good friends, you know,â watching you as you stared back at her, smiling softly. Sheâd been so playful the entire evening, wary of your resistance, but you truly felt the genuinity her words conveyed for the first time that night and it set your body alight, enveloping your body in that warm fuzzy feeling you constantly seeked in her absence. If only she knew how open your heart had been towards her from the beginning, regardless of your anxious demeanour.Â
You could barely remember a memory from the past six months that didnât include her somehow, it was as if sheâd become entwined with your very being. Library visits, movie nights, exploring a new place in town, concerts, occasional parties, everything was done with you by her side. Contrary to before, you found yourself saying yes to things that youâre sure would have astonished past you. Of course, she never pushed you to do things entirely out of your comfort zone, much preferring cuddling at your side staying in if the two of you werenât up to something particularly adventurous. Powder was your greatest weakness, it was increasingly hard to do anything but agree with her. And your massive crush on her certainly didnât ease that impulse. Youâd, of course, been aware of that from the moment you laid eyes on her. Many times, youâd fallen victim to the false belief that it didnât exist anymore, then she simply lean into your personal space with her charming grin and the truth would come crashing down on you once again. Youâd reached a point of acceptance now, convincing yourself you were content with how things were. Admittedly, though youâd definitely consider each other your best friends respectively, somewhere the line between friendship and the unknown had become fuddled, and you were currently residing in the limbo that was characterised by fleeting, uncertain tension.
â§.*ŕłââˇ
Powder lay sprawled out across your head, tossing something - likely one of your poor calico critters - in her hands, throwing it into the air and catching it repeatedly as you worked away at your desk. Summer break closely approaching unfortunately meant an influx of exams, and though Powder had already finished all of hers, you still had one left, the timing particularly cruel as the start of the holidays were only 2 days away, simmering on the horizon.
âWhen will you be done? Iâm getting boooored over here with no attention,â she drawed the words out, haphazardly opening your bedside drawers.Â
âThe same answer you got when you asked last, you big baby,â you replied, flipping through your textbook.Â
âWrong answer!â Mimicking an incorrect buzzer sound. âCâmon, trinket, youâve been studying for this one for weeks now. How about you give that brain of yours the rest it deserves?â She remarked, glancing at the back of your head as you exhaled softly. âAnd I mean that shit, youâve been muttering study notes in your sleep.â
âI have absolutely not,â you turned around in your chair abruptly, wide-eyed. Powder simply raised an eyebrow in response, teasing grin on her face, and you turned back round, resting your forehead on your hands.
âOkay, youâre right,â you spoke, your voice muffled. âOne more page.â Powder huffed at that, but counted it as a win ultimately.Â
âAlso, Iâve witnessed you, with my own two eyes, do chemistry problems for fun, I donât wanna hear it,â you teased back, straightening up in your seat.Â
âTouchĂŠ, toots.â She closed the drawer, glancing around the bedroom sheâd grown accustomed to curiously, before sitting up and staring at the back of your head again.
âWhy havenât you packed up? Leaving it to the last minute doesnât sound very much like you,â she asked, face scrunched up in confusion.Â
You paused in your seat at that, pen frozen in its place. You didnât dare turn around for fear of being read instantly, a power Powder had annoyingly acquired very early on into your friendship.
âIâm not going home,â you simply replied, picking up your pen again and hovering it over the page, though your train of thoughts had long dissipated.Â
Powderâs question as to why stopped in her throat, the memory of you mentioning your complicated family situation flashing quickly through her head. She simply nodded though your back was still turned, tinged with guilt at bringing up bad memories for you unintentionally.Â
âWell, thereâs one big final party tomorrow, the night after your exam,â she spoke up again after a few beats of silence, the question hanging in the air.
You turned around to face her, your turn to raise an eyebrow at her lightheartedly.
âWay to end this year with a bang?â she practically pleaded, âI live all the way across the country, thisâll probably be the last thing we do before we come back for next year.â
The thought hadnât even had the chance to cross your head before this, and hearing it now from her made something in your chest twist a little. The next few months without being attached to Powder at the hip were going to be surreal to say the least, a wave of the imminent loneliness crashing over you as you sat before her now. You managed a small smile, meeting her anticipating gaze. âSure, Pow.âÂ
â§.*ŕłââˇ
To say parties were not your forte was an understatement, but the buzz of the shot youâd taken 10 minutes ago was starting to hit you now as you downed another. Powder had been swept into conversation with a few friends that greeted you cheerfully and roped you into their chat, very familiar with you at this point, but the lack of alcohol in your system was beginning to make you doubtful about being here in the first place. So youâd slithered away, making your way into the kitchen, taking in the surroundings, people packed into every corner, the bass of the music matching the beat of your heart, the bloodstream running through your veins.Â
âSulking in a corner so early in? Canât have that, toots, can we?â came Powderâs voice, a lilt in her tone as she wrapped an arm around your shoulder, bringing her face close to yours so youâd hear her over all the noise.
âAre you forgetting I sat an exam this very morning, and still made it here?â you remarked playfully.Â
âOh shit, yeah,â Powderâs expression quickly turned serious, concern flickering over her face though your words had been lighthearted. She hadnât had a chance to ask about it, getting ready before arriving had only consisted of excited chatter. âHow did that go?âÂ
You shook your head in response, âletâs not,â you whined lightly.
âMy brave soldier. Iâm proud of you,â Powderâs grin reached her eyes. You made a face at her words though the giggle escaping your throat betrayed you as you picked up a third shot. Powderâs eyes widened slightly.Â
âAnd tipsy already, without me???â she said mock-exasperatedly.
You shrugged slightly. She was exaggerating, sheâd taken a couple when youâd first arrived, but the effect hit you a lot sooner than it did her.Â
âYou were pretty busy over there,â you opted for, and raised the glass to your lips. Powderâs eyes dropped to your mouth for a second before swiftly taking the glass out of your grip, holding it to her own lips and tipping her head back slightly as she drained the glass. That fuzzy feeling intensified as you watched in awe, eyes unblinking as the heat of her shoulder wrapped around you suddenly became too much to bear.Â
âDance?â She abruptly asked, a hint of a light smirk on her lips.
âDance?â you quizzed back, incredulously, though that glint in her blue eyes told you she was serious, determined to get her way.Â
âOh come on, you wonât refuse me a dance will you, when weâll be apart for so long,â she replied, a hand draped against her forehead dramatically.
âItâs not like weâre going off to war, Powder,â you shook her head at her antics, smiling widely.Â
Powder snorted at your response, before wrapping her hand around yours, squeezing tightly as she led you through the packed crowds of people dancing wildly.Â
Settling in your own space, she danced freely, the movements coming to her naturally as just about everything else did, in your eyes at least. You followed her movements, though the combination of alcohol and the heat from the close bodies was slowing you down significantly. The bleary feeling increased as the two of you continued, your head fuzzy from the shots and the loud bass music blaring through the speakers, Powder moving dangerously nearer. Somewhere in the haze, some emotional switch was turned on in your body, your heart twisting and writhing in your chest at the mere thought of being apart from her for just a second. How on earth would you survive months without her? Your movements slowed down to almost a halt as you were caught in a trance, watching as her blue tresses slipped free from her half pinned hairstyle, cheeks flushed, the signature charming grin spreading across her face as she wrapped her arms across your shoulders, pulling you into her.Â
The sudden contact broke you out of your haze, nervously chewing at your lower lip as your gaze ran over Powderâs suddenly very fixated stare. Her eyes dropped down to your lips at your involuntary action, staying there for a beat before they looked up to meet yours, though you were mirroring her action, glancing at her rosy lips before darting up to meet her questioning eyes. She held your gaze for what seemed like a painstakingly long amount of time, wordlessly searching for an answer before you nodded desperately. You met her halfway as she closed the distance, pressing her lips to yours in a kiss that seemed to speak a thousand unsaid words. You reciprocated immediately, any previous expectation of this moment crumbling away beyond comparison as she tightened her grip on the back of your head, pushing you even deeper into her embrace. When you eventually parted, her eyes immediately met yours, attempting to read you but you wrapped your arms around her hastily, deciding the vulnerability was too much, hiding your face in her shoulder. She held you tighter, the touch a middle ground between intense and tender, all thoughts of the implications and consequences melting away. The way she was holding you made such things feel so insignificant, as if nothing mattered outside of where you were right now.
â§.*ŕłââˇ
The coloured scenes of Fantastic Mr. Fox reflected off the white walls of Powderâs bedroom as you fixed your gaze on the screen of the TV, currently pressed into her side as her arm lay casually across your shoulders, fingers occasionally lightly tapping your arm, betraying her current nerves. It was the day after the party, and though what had occurred hadnât been brought up by either of you, the weight of it lingered like a brewing thunderstorm after a heatwave. When you'd got the text from Powder asking you to swing by, you'd paced your bedroom several times, worried that the topic would be what had transpired the night before. It wasn't, she had just asked because it was the last night she'd be here, set to leave early the next morning. The air was still charged, youâd both somehow silently agreed to not acknowledge it, you personally attributing a lot of it to the fact that today was the last day before summer break. The bags and half packed suitcase strewn across the floor of the room was a constant reminder of what was looming on the horizon, but you tried your best to ignore the surge of emotion and focus on right now, the feeling of Powderâs arm around you. You felt sick at the thought that no matter how much you both pretended nothing happened, or that it was a drunken, spontaneous action not holding any meaning, that blurry line of your connection had spiralled out of control, and that nothing would ever be quite the same.
The sound of Powder calling your name broke you out of your brain spiral, focusing your attention back on to the movie playing. You hummed in response, assuming it was another observational comment on the movie.Â
âCome with me.â You whipped your head away from the screen and turned to Powder, finding her already staring at you, eyes wide with her objective. âCome home with me,â she repeated when you stared in silence.
âPow, what do you mean? I canât do-â
âIâve already talked about it to my family. I don't want you to be here alone for the rest of the holidays,â she quickly cut you off, rambling.Â
âYou donât need to pity me, and I donât want to be a burden,â you replied, heart in your throat.Â
Powder shook her head, eyebrows furrowed together. âYouâre not a burden,â she replied firmly, âand itâs not pitying. I want you to come home with me.â
The words caught in your throat at her response, the surge of sentiment washing over you at her sheer generosity. âThank you, Powder. I appreciate this, so much,â you settled, smiling softly though anxiously hoping at the same time she understood how genuine your thankfulness to her was.
Powder breathed out as if in relief, before shooting you a small smile. âIâm so glad.â She paused, laughing at something in her head. âI am gonna have to warn you about my sister thoughâŚâ
â§.*ŕłââˇ
The drive back to Powderâs hometown had been pleasant, though long. The music from the stereo played quietly throughout, sometimes youâd pass conversation back and forth but for the most part you watched your surroundings or slept, absolutely exhausted from having stayed up the entire night before, hurriedly packing your things and making rearrangements.
âItâs like youâre moving in,â Powder had remarked teasingly when she saw the amount of stuff youâd packed.Â
âItâs called being prepared, we donât all live as spontaneously as you,â youâd retorted back lightheartedly, while she began loading the bags into the car, insisting she could do it all by herself.
The nerves that had been building along the journey melted away the moment youâd stepped into the home. Vander, Powderâs adoptive dad, had hugged her immediately upon sight as she yelped playfully, her coat not even fully removed. âYouâve gotten taller since Iâve seen you kid,â he jested when he stepped back.
âItâs always the same joke with you every time, old man,â sheâd quipped back, biting back the laugh as her gaze shifted to you at the side watching the interaction fondly. A nervous expression flashed across her face briefly before she took the chance to introduce you.
âItâs nice to finally meet you,â you finally spoke up, smiling. Vander paused for a second before copying the same action from before, hugging you too.Â
âNice to meet you too, kid.â He tapped your shoulder, smiling. âHeard a lot about ya.â
You finally felt at peace, all worrying thoughts of somehow making a bad impression vanishing the longer you conversed with Vander and Silco, who had joined the three of you for dinner in honour of Powderâs return for the summer break. The best part was being able to watch Powder so at home with them, alternating between serious conversation and jesting. She was so loved and content, the warmth spreading and seeping into your bones, that fuzzy feeling making you feel fulfilled again.Â
Once the post-dinner spectacles were over and the exhaustion began to take over, Powder had showed you up to the bedroom you would become familiar with over the break. You were currently going over the funniest moments of the evening, stifling your giggles in fear of waking anyone up as you entered the room.Â
âWell, it is a pretty ridiculous story after all,â you laughed as Powder flopped onto the bed, tossing a monkey plushie off the side as she patted the space beside her, beckoning you. You were referring to Silcoâs reaction when you were recalling the story of how youâd met and befriended each other, Vander shaking with laughter despite seemingly having heard the story already.
âI think itâs actually more ridiculous how quickly you let it go, actually,â she retaliated.Â
âI wasnât going to,â you replied, playfully punching her shoulder, âI just gotâŚdistracted.â
âDistracted, huh?â she hummed as she leaned in closer to you, smirking, âso youâll just let anyone hit you over the head with a torch as long as they have a pretty face?âÂ
âOnly one,â you shot back, hoping she couldnât hear how wildly your heart was beating underneath your confidence.Â
Powder smiled at your unexpected response, watching as you broke the eye contact, choosing to sweep your eyes across the decorations lining her room. âI thought Iâd screwed it up, you know, Iâd seen you around a few times before that.â You looked back at her, eyebrows furrowed together as you were about to question what sheâd meant, but she shifted on the bed, moving to lay under the duvet cover.
âIâm sorry about this room,â she spoke up, suddenly feeling insecure about her younger selfâs taste.Â
âDonât, I love it,â you breathed out, smiling fondly as you gazed at all the sheer amount of decorations and trinkets that lined almost every surface of her room, paper stars dangling from the ceiling, imagining teen Powder adorning the room with them.
She smiled tiredly, lifting the duvet cover so you could join her. âThank you so much for this again, Powder, you didnât have to do this,â you said, eyes slowly losing the fight to stay open as you settled under the covers next to her, meeting her gaze.Â
âHow many times, toots, I wanted to. Besides, I donât think I would have survived break without you anyway,â she joked, though her grin was genuine. âI thought today might be a lot for you, so I tried to break it up a little,â she huffed out a laugh, though you picked up on her nerves as you listened attentively. âVi and her girlfriend Cait invited us out tomorrow, though only if youâre okay with that,â she looked to you, gaze shifting from where sheâd been fidgeting with her fingers.Â
âPowder,â you lay your hand lightly above her fingers, stilling the movement, âI love your family. Of course Iâm okay with that.âÂ
She moved her hand so her fingers were interlaced with yours, squeezing them together. âIâm really glad youâre here.âÂ
Your pulse was still racing when you laid down later to finally sleep, back faced to Powderâs back in your usual sleeping position. You squeezed your eyes shut as if to will yourself to calm down and actually sleep ahead of tomorrow, Powder on the other side of the bed blissfully unaware of the effect she had on you.Â

âAnd I think youâre going to really get along with Cait,â Powder was filling you in on details as you walked into the restaurant. Youâd of course heard plenty of stories from Powder before, so none of this was new, but it was endearing how she rambled on in attempts to alleviate any anxious feelings. You simply nodded with a smile in response, watching as her eyes darted around the room, finally landing on the table where they had already taken a seat, waving briefly before turning to you. âReady?â
âReady,â you affirmed, welcoming the feeling of her hand wrapping around yours as you strolled towards the table. You watched as Powder greeted the two and vice versa, before their gazes shifted to you inquisitively. You introduced yourself, shaking your hand over the table as you and Powder took your seats across them. You passed conversation as you waited, already deciding you really liked them as the waiter made their way to the table.
âWell, it is certainly nice finally meeting the girlfriend, weâve been convinced Powder was like, gatekeeping you from everybody or something,â Vi snorted as she raised her glass slightly.Â
Caitâs head whipped to the side to shoot Vi a sharp look as Powder melted into a mess beside you, though you hadn't noticed a single thing, your hearing having left you after the word âgirlfriendâ. You tried your best to compose yourself, youâd been midway through a sip of your drink when Vi had unexpectedly piped up, the choking sound that had left your mouth particularly undignified - and you were now miserably aware of the waiter to the side cluelessly asking you if you were ready to order. Powder glanced at you, then pointed at two random things on the menu in despair, words similarly failing her.
Vi watched the scene in confusion, eyebrows knitted together in bewilderment as Cait took over the ordering before turning back to you with an entertained grin. The look on Vi's face was so similar to Powderâs, it took everything in you to hold back from bursting into laughter at the comparison.
âIn other words, weâre both very glad to meet you. Any friend of Powderâs is a friend of yours,â she spoke genuinely.Â
âItâs nice to meet you too, Iâve heard so much about you both,â you smiled back.Â
âAll good things, I hope!â Vi finally chimed in. You simply shrugged playfully in response, though you swore you heard Powder mutter something about ânot after thisâ under her breath.Â
You waited for a pause in the conversation before leaning closer to Powder, letting her know you were just going to the bathroom quickly. She nodded, getting up so you could make your way out. She gripped your wrist just as you were about to leave, making you turn back to look at her questioningly.Â
âPlease, donât leave me with them for too long,â she whispered desperately. You snickered lightly in response, promising you wouldnât before leaving.Â
âFor their sake,â she added under her breath as she sat back in her seat, shooting a scowl at Vi across the table.
âWhat the fuck was that about before??â Vi blurted out, gaze alternating between Cait and Powder confusedly.
âShe hasnât asked that question yet,â Caitlyn responded, amused as she watched Powder groan frustratedly into her hands.Â
âWHAT? Are you kidding? How??â Vi shot out exasperatedly.Â
âThey havenât talked about it yet,â Caitlyn replied, a giggle escaping her lips as the sheer ridiculousness of the conversation.Â
âYes, we donât all move as fast as you guys,â Powder snarked, pinching the bridge of her nose.Â
âOkay, thatâs nonsense - you said you were going to ask for her number before you ended up hitting her eye,â Caitlyn teased in retaliation.Â
âI told you that in confidence!â
âYou told us you both already kissed too!âÂ
âHold on, hold on, thereâs way too much too much to unpack here,â Vi clutched at her head, âand why do you know way more than me about this?â She turned to Caitlyn quizzically.Â
âRight, stalker,â Powder narrowed her eyes playfully.Â
âI prefer observant,â she shrugged, before pointing a finger at Powder, âbesides, you told me all this over call plenty of times.â
âYou just had to open your mouth, sis,â Powder huffed out, though there was no bite in her voice as she shot Vi her 100th glare.
âPut it this way, Pow, I just made things a whole lot easier for you,â Vi smirked as Powder looked around the restaurant, eyes landing on you as you emerged and began to walk back to the table.Â
â§.*ŕłââˇ
âAre you kidding?? Thatâs so many plans, Iâm barely going to have you to myself at this point,â Powder grumbled playfully, laying her head on your shoulder as you both sat propped up against her pillows. Caitlyn and Vi had made an array of plans to hang out over the summer, youâd hit it off very successfully with them and the thought of winning the approval of Powderâs loved ones warmed your chest as you chuckled at her protest.
âYouâre going to be there for all of them, Pow,â you rolled your eyes as you shook your head.Â
âThis was their plan all along, trust me,â Powder sighed though she was smiling too as her gaze fixated on your face. She was similarly delighted at how well youâd all got along, her heart warming at the thought. You continued your idle chatter, both waiting for the sleepiness to wash over you.Â
âAnd Vi totally cheated in that last round - thereâs no way she got a strike all of a sudden,â Powder snickered, still salty over the two of you losing to Cait and Vi in your impromptu bowling game.Â
âSure, Pow,â you giggled, âweâll get âem next time,â you said, stifling a small yawn. Powderâs eyes flickered at the action, pulling your arm to lay down properly.Â
âThatâs enough, toots, time to sleep!â
âIâm not tired, I wanted to talk more,â you whined sleepily, though you let her tug you down next to her.Â
âAs much as I want to, we have all the time to do that. You need to sleep right now, I have more stuff planned for us tomorrow and I donât want you to be grumpy for it,â she smiled amusedly as she faced you, lying down. You pouted mockingly in response, her simply tapping your cheek lightly before turning around. âGoodnight.â
âGoodnight,â you whispered back, giving in as you turned around too. The events of the evening ran back through your head as you closed your eyes. Your mind drifted off to the fiasco before you left the table, her memory lighting up the bulb in your head as youâd almost completely forgotten it. You stifled a giggle, reminiscing as you heard Powderâs soft breathing from behind you.Â
âGirlfriend, huh?â you spoke quietly into the silence, unable to hold yourself back. Youâd said it teasingly, not expecting a response - and it didnât look like you were going to get one, taking the silence as an indication that the girl beside you had already fallen asleep. You froze as the sheets ruffled as Powder sat up in the bed, looking down at you wordlessly. You mimicked her movement, sitting up next to her as you turned to face her. You were expecting a smirk, her usual confident steady gaze, anything but the vulnerable, anxious look painting her face as she fought herself to keep eye contact with you.Â
âI was going to ask you soon, I swear, I just didnât know if you felt the same, but then we kissed but we didnât talk about it and-â she rambled breathlessly, words spewing out uncontrollably. Your hand placed on her cheek stopped her train of thoughts briefly, gaze dropping from your hand back to your eyes. Your face flushed furiously, the beat of your heart threatening to spin out of your chest altogether as you nodded slightly.Â
âI wanted to kiss you long before that, I just wasnât sureâŚâ she carried on, words stumbling out now.Â
âPowder,â you stopped her going on another anxious rant, her eyes fixated on you as you spoke, âIâve felt the same since the first time we met,â you confessed softly.Â
âIâve been plotting on you since I first laid eyes on you,â Powder managed out, grinning back at you. Her gaze flitted between your lips and your eyes as you leaned in closer to her apprehensively.Â
âAre you going to stop talking and kiss me already?â you laughed, teasing.Â
Powder didnât waste a second before closing the remaining distance between you, her soft lips working against yours as if theyâd been made for this very purpose, smiling into the kiss as you tugged her closer by the hand still cupping her face. She snaked an arm around your waist, pulling you flush against her as she deepened the kiss. The first time had been great, but God if this didnât feel a thousand times better, unrestricted, the uncertainty and intolerable tension vanquished - and both of your feelings reciprocated. It set your very insides alight as you pulled back for air, briefly, before you were pulled back in, Powder pressing kiss after kiss to your lips as if to make up for lost time. It was much later in the night when you lay down to finally sleep, Powderâs heart steadily beating pressed to your back as her arms held you tight, close to her. She pressed a sleepy final kiss to the crown of your head before finally closing her eyes, content enough to stay like this forever with you in her hold. As you were both finally drifting off, she suddenly opened her eyes, as if remembering something urgent.Â
âI didnât even ask the question!â
You snorted, turning around in her arms to press a kiss to her cheek. âYes, I will be your girlfriend, you absolute dork.â

PART THREE HERE!!!
_______________________________________
You stared at the text message, throat tight with excitement but dread. It had been a few months since the last incident with Yuji and his Uncle. The roguish male often picked up the young boy, tagging along with Yujiâs father. Youâd usually just give Jin a rundown of his sonâs day, ever so often catching Sukunaâs gaze as he leaned against the door frame. And every time it happened, youâd choke, clearing your throat and focusing your attention on Yuji and his father.
It didnât help that he was always texting you, asking his his nephew was behaving. Even though it was cordial and polite, you still felt giddy getting texts from him.
This comes to the next point, why youâre sitting here practically gawking over the most recent message request from Yujiâs father.
-YOU HAVE A NEW MESSAGE:
Hello Miss Y/n! Do you babysit? I know Yuji loves having you as a teacher and I was wondering if youâd be interested in babysitting for him along with his Uncle while me and my wife go on vacation. Of course, you will be paid as well.
-Jin Itadori @ 6:28pm-
You wait to open it, pacing for a moment, thinking, first of all if you were available for the weekend and second, why couldnât his uncle handle it?!
Well, given the manâs track record maybe an experienced hand in childcare could be useful. With a heavy sigh, you respond and you'd have to quickly come to terms with the fact that you would be essentially babysitting over 2 days with your students' hot uncle.
-----------
It's Friday now, and arrangements for you to simply drive Yuji back home and meet up there with his uncle were already in place. You were trusted with a spare house key, and their precious baby boy, who so seemed to be happier than a fly on shit that you would be spending even MORE time with him.
You gather your things and a few activities to pass the time, loading them into your car. Yuji insists on helping, carrying a small container of building blocks with his chubby hands. And god damn does he not stop talking while he does. It's adorable really, whatever comes off the top of the boy's head simply flying free.
"My-My uh uncle, he doesnât have no girlfriend." He speaks, the statement making you choke.
"Ahaha is that so? He tells you to say that?" You joke, setting the pink-haired toddler in his car seat, and buckling him in with ease.
"MHM! My uh-" He coughs, quickly covering it with his elbow as you give a small 'good job' seeing as he's learning to keep his germs away from everyone, including you.
"My Uncle says uh he says that you got pretty eyes." He explains, your heart fluttering.
You sit in the driver seat finally, the boy still rambling on and on about what his uncle thinks about you. Though all you can do is respond with a simple, "Oh that's very kind, or a awee", Yuji is nonstop.
Itâs quiet for a moment and as youâre pulling into the driveway when he says it, clear as day.
"Uncle says your ass is fat too."
You slam the brakes, the car jerking a bit when you do. What. The. FUCK-
The culprit is already awaiting you, arms folded over his chest as they flex. Heâs got a white tank top on and a pair of black basketball shorts paired with slides and ankle socks.
Yuji squirms, growing ever more excited as Sukuna takes him out of the car seat and lightly jabs his knuckles to the boy's sides with a 'Rahhhh', as if he were some kind of tickle monster. Yuji of course laughs and if ALMOST makes you forget about what he'd just said a moment ago.
"Wanna help Miss Y/n put this inside?" Sukuna asks the small boy, handing him the block container from before. Yuji is quick to nod and scurry to the front door.
"I can bring the rest of this, Jin gave you the housekey right?" He asks, leaning against the frame of the car, your neck snapping towards him as you swallow thickly. Fuck you can see even more of the tats now in that shirt.
"U-Uhm yes, yes. I'll go get the door. I can get some of this too I-" You speak, fumbling to find the key. He only puts his hand up and shakes his head, the silver chain around his swishing a bit.
"Nah I gotchu. Yuji knows how to turn the TV on so he can watch his lil show for a bit.â
Sure enough, the minute you unlock the door, Yuji crawls atop the couch, using the remote to try his best to navigate. It takes a while, and he mispresses a few buttons but after about 5 minutes he manages to play something entertaining for him.
Sukuna had finished bringing your bags in as well as the one with activities in it, setting it on the stairs. He rolls his shoulder, pointing at Yuji who was immersed in the show.
"See." Sukuna hums, leaning against the countertop next to you, also skimming over the note. His body heat is practically radiating off of him, just standing by him is warming you up.
You nod in response, looking over the brief note Jin left for you both and according to what it said, your next step was to head up some leftovers for Yuji and then run him a bath.
"Thereâs two bathrooms so I can get the boy.â He offers, resting his hand behind his neck as you give a nervous laugh. FUCK this nervousness was most likely only on you. Thereâs no way he could be just as filled with anticipation as you were?!
You take the offer, giving a small thank you before fishing the shower and taking one considering you did just get off of work. Packed away in your bag was a set of comfortable clothes and a book with you figured would help pass the time once Yuji went to sleep.
You could hear footsteps and Yuji fussing back and forth with his Uncle.
âHush man youâre making me look bad.â Sukuna groans, throwing the toddler over his shoulder as he giggles but continues to thrash, pounding tiny fists against the older male's back.
âNo! NO BATH! I donât wanna!â Yuji whines, his Uncle only growling in response.
âIâll give you candy if you stop.â
And just like that it was quiet.
-8:30pm-
The night had gone smoother than you thought, you and Sukuna both interacting with Yuji as itâs beginning to be time to wind down. His eyes were beginning to get heavy and before you knew it he was slumped against the couch, clutching an unfinished sucker in one hand and a white puppy plush in the other. You smile, scooping him up and patting him when he stirs.
âBe right back, let me tuck him in.â You whisper, seeing Sukuna look up from his phone and nod, one arm slung over the sofa while he practically manspreads
-9:00pm-
Turns out, Yuji took a bit longer to fall asleep when he realized he was being put down and so you had to sit and pat him for an extra 30 minutes. And once you returned to the living room, there was Sukuna, still scrolling. Well, that was until you came in.
âSorry, he wouldnât go back to sleep.â You explain, sitting at the farthest end from him, picking up your book in the silence.
âSo you like working up there? At the school?â He asks, putting his phone down to hold the conversation with you.
It takes you by surprise for a second but you are quickly to respond.
âWell yeah, I love the kids and I love working there and teaching them things. Yuji is a sweetheart and itâs definitely kids like him that make it all worth it.â You explain, a smile making its way to your lips.
âYou got kids?â He asks, eyes on your frame as you laugh a bit in response
âNah, donât really plan on it right now either. Kids are difficult.â You answer, now facing him a bit more, body relaxed.
What was there to be so scared of?! Heâs a chill guy who just so happened to be hot as fuck asking you about your career and life?!
âHow about you? Kids? Working?â You flip, seeing him shift a bit uncomfortably.
âHell nah. I see how Jin deals with Yuji and Iâm not really cut you to be a dad. And for work well, Iâm a priest.â He states, smirking at the surprised look on your face.
âR-Really??â You question definitely surprised.
âNah Iâm just fucking with you.â He laughs and you do the same, trying to keep your volume down since Yuji did just fall asleep.
-11:08pm-
It was crazy to believe youâd spent about two hours just talking back and forth, with him about his past, his brother, and his nephew. You about your own life and current living situations. Somehow the conversation tookâŚa turn.
âYâknow, itâs funny because Yuji keeps telling me about these things you say and I think itâs so funny. Like heâs your little wingman.â You laugh, seeing him grin right back at you.
âYeah like what?â He asks, more teasing than anything.
âWell he said that you said I have pretty eyes and on the way here he goes, âuncle says your ass is fatââ you explain with a laugh that he doesn't return.
Instead you see his lip tuck between his teeth after he licks them.
âI did say that.â
Suddenly the room is hot, and youâre very aware of how sharp his canaines look in that stupid grin. How his hand is grinning the back of the couch cushion. And for some goddamn reason you just had to look down, that fucking print so visible against his inner thigh.
Your breath falters, eyes wide and you swallow back any doubt. So he had said all that stuff and it want just Yuji repeating something or just talking.
âI-Well IâŚThank you? I-I mean Iâd be lying if I said hadnât looked at you too.â You admit, his body shifting to face you more, almost caging you in on the couch.
âI figured. Every time I come to pick up you canât seems to form a sentence correctly .â He notes.
âSuku-â
âRyo.â He corrects. Lifting the strap of your nightshirt over your shoulder, playing with the fabric for a moment.
âRyo.â You test, hearing his exhale heavily.
âLetâs stop pretending thereâs nothing happing and has been happening here. No rule against fooling around with me is there?â Sukuna tests, his hand trailing up to rest no on your neck, his thumb pulling your lower lip down.
âNo.â
And with that you make the first move to connect your lips, his arms immediately going to lift you up ans set you against his lap.
Damn does that bulge feel to much better resting between your legs than just looking at it.
