-generally agreed upon but ness is DEFINITELY a conspiracy theorist. i think he was into conspiracys since he was younger, starting off with more silly ones like birds aren't real and the moon landing is fake and then getting into deeper ones with maybe a bit of a lean towards true crime. then when the local pizzeria had missing children well...

-mike takes abby to the diner for her birthday bc what can u do in a small town! they give a free slice of cake for birthdays and have the workers come around your table to sing except ness is the only one to genuinely enjoy singing it and he's also arguably got the best voice out of all the workers (or at least he does in mike's opinion)

You stepped into the small empty diner, sitting in one of the booths next to a window. It was late, but time had gotten away from you and you didn't feel like cooking. So the ‘cheapest diner near me’ search brought you to Sparky’s Diner. 

It had decent reviews, but considering you've never heard of it before- It couldn't be too popular.

A waitress walked over to you and handed you a menu, saying she’ll return later to take your order. You squint your eyes at the menu and scan its items, settling on getting waffles. The picture looked nice enough and was described as having fruit, powdered sugar, and even a little whipped cream. 

You send a quick snap of the menu to your friend Amber, asking if she’d like to meet up. You knew she was still awake as a notification from TikTok popped up on your screen a few minutes earlier, saying she sent you another video.

After a few minutes of back and forth, she agreed, sending you a picture of her steering wheel.

The sound of the door opening got your attention, and you turned your head to see Amber walk in. She waved and walked over to your booth, sitting across from you. 

“Missed me?” She playfully asked, blowing a kiss. You grin, rolling your eyes and shaking your head. 

You slide the menu over to her. “On me,” You say, and she instantly lights up. Quickly picking it up and picking what she wanted.

A different waiter walks up to the booth, his nametag reading “Mike.” You look up at him and your eyes lock, almost making your heart race. He looks over at Amber and starts taking her order, and you take this time to get a good look at him.

His dark, almost black hair stuck to his face, his light brown eyes practically shimmering in the overhead lights. His body is athletic and toned, and something about him is calming and peaceful. He is handsome, but there is something mysterious about him that draws you in as if he has a secret to tell.

“....?”

You look over to hear her laughing, and you look back at Mike feeling embarrassed. A shy smile reaches his face and he clears his throat. “What can I get you..?”

“Uh, the waffles- How they come, please,” You say, grabbing the menu and holding it out to him. His hand brushes over yours as he takes them and walks away, disappearing behind the kitchen door.

“Like that wasn't awkward,” Amber smirks, raising her eyebrow. 

“I didn't know I was staring for that long…” You mumble, rubbing the back of your neck. She laughs again. 

“You gonna pass out if he comes over here again?” She asks, her eyes widening a second later. 

“...”

“.. I bet you'd like that,” She says, laughing again, this time even harder than last time. You smile and hit her arm.

“Don’t even..” You say, pretending to shake your head in disappointment. 

“I kinda get it…” She says, her face turning serious as she nods a few times. Her eyes light up and she pulls out her phone. “I need to find a video, it has the perfect quote for this..”

She mumbles, furiously swiping through her likes. 

“Do you remember any part about it?” You ask, raising your eyebrow.

“Something about a waiter, it's on literally every edit I sent you…” She mumbles back again, looking through the reposts now.

You think for a moment, mentally going through a few edits in your head. 

“Oh uhm!” You say, the words on the tip of your tongue. You close your eyes to focus, placing your hands on the sides of your head.

“...”

Your eyes shoot open and you point at her. “I’m not a waiter, but I'll gladly take his tip!” You say, a little louder than you had hoped.

She laughs and nods her head a few times. “That’s it! That one fits you perfectly” You roll your eyes again and shake your head.

You look up to see the waitress from earlier bringing over your food, setting it down, and talking for a few seconds. You look closer to read her nametag before she walks off.

“Aww, you ran him off..” She says fake pouting, taking a bite of her food.

Your eyes dart over to the kitchen door and then back at her. “I guess I did..” You mumble, taking a bite of your own food.

“Thanks for taking that..” Mike says, his face still red from the interaction from earlier. Jade laughs and nods her head. “Didn’t want you to trip and fall in front of them, that would've killed you” She says, patting him on the shoulder.

He frowns and shakes his head up and down. 

“But- I did hear something they said before I walked up to their table,” Jade says with a small smirk on her face. He looks over at her with a confused expression. “What?”

She leans down and whispers it in his ear, laughing at his reaction before walking away.

“...They said what?!” You hear someone yell from the kitchen area. 

You look over to Amber with a puzzled expression, the same one on her face.

“Wonder what that was about…” She mumbles, taking a sip of her drink. You nod, taking another quick glance at the kitchen door, this time locking eyes with someone peering through.

They disappear and you look back at Amber, giving her a puzzled expression again. She looks confused before looking over at the door and back to you.

“..What?”

“Nothing” You reply back, almost laughing. 

“Okay, well are you ready to go?” She asks, looking at the time. 

“Oh, sure. I'll just pay at the front…”

You grab your phone and shove it in your pocket, walking with Amber to the front counter. A small grin reaches your face as you realize that Mike is there.

“..Are you ready to pay?” He asks, obviously avoiding eye contact with you. Amber nudges your side and laughs again, walking out of the door.

“Yeah..” You say, grabbing your wallet and handing him the cash. 

Some awkward silence passes and you look around the front, your eyes trying to find anything to focus on. 

“Here's your receipt…” He mumbles, basically shoving it in your extended hand as fast as possible. 

“Thanks,” You say, nodding before walking out of the door over to where Amber is standing. “Aw, nothing? Not even a number or anything?” She asks crossing her arms, a frown on her face. 

You hold up your receipt and shake your head. “Nope, just this..” 

She smirks and shakes her head. “That's such a shame, well text me when you get home!” She says, swiftly getting into her car. You wave your hand, walking over to your own car before hopping in. 

You throw the receipt in the seat beside you and sigh, looking back into the diner. 

You look at your hand, noticing something smudged on there. You wipe it off on your pants and look back at the receipt, thinking the ink is bleeding. You flip it over to see a now smudged number scribbled on there with M after it. 

You grin shaking your head, entering the number in your phone under ‘waiter mike’.

You sit on your couch, flipping through the TV channels. Knowing nothing is on, you sigh, taking a quick glance at your phone.

You pick it up and open his contact, drafting up a message before sending it. 

You: Hey! It's the girl from the diner, is this Mike?

You set it down and immediately hear a noise alerting you that he responded. “..That was quick,” You mumble.

Waiter Mike: Oh uh yeah that's me!

…

You text back and forth for a few hours, talking about his job, and his sister, to your interests and then diving into more personal topics. 

Mike brings up the idea of you coming to his house, then awkwardly backtracking and asking again if you'd like to. 

You laugh and text back a yes, knowing it'll be a fun time.

You pull up to the address he sent you, checking your phone again to make sure you're at the right house. You walk up to the door and knock a few times, the door quickly swinging open after.

“Oh uh- hey…” Mike mumbles, trying to seem casual- and failing miserably. He gestures for you to come in and you walk into his living room, glancing at his TV to see a weird overpriced ring. 

“Can I get you something to drink?” He asks, pulling out a drink for himself. 

“Oh I’m okay, thanks,” You say, giving a polite smile. 

He nods and walks back into the living room, sitting on one end of the couch. You join him and sit down on the other end, taking a look around at all of the drawings. 

“Abby drew those, she's really talented…” Mike says smiling, looking at the same one. 

“Oh yeah! You mentioned she liked to draw a lot..” You nod, thinking of the conversation hours ago. 

An awkward silence fills the room, and your eyes dart around, trying to find something to look at. Your eyes land on Mike, and he's fully focused staring at the TV. 

You check him out again, his shirt hugging his broad shoulders, not leaving much to the imagination. His tight-fitting sweatpants had a way of complimenting his toned thighs and calves. His thighs held in check by the snug material, but still able to hint at a shape under the fabric.

Ness is an absolute nerd. He's currently in college getting his master's degree in business, minor in theatre. He's been working at Sparky's since his freshman year of college to help pay student loans and such. He lives in a quaint, cramped apartment downtown near his college. He likes his coworkers, the gossipy waitresses, and his manager. He's never met the owner, though (🐇).

He loves to be in-the-know. He eavesdrops constantly at work, and it's honestly the best place to gather bits and bobs about the local townsfolk, cryptids, and other oddities. With his flamboyant nature and such a small town, he's also well-known and trusted. The grannies who come every Sunday after church services, crochet, and tip well trade tea for knowing about his personal life. Got a girlfriend yet? How's that degree going? How's your parents?

Though he's stuck his nose where it isn't supposed to be, plenty of times. Back when he was 19, him and a few buddies broke into their school's boiler room because rumor was it's haunted and had a skull of a pilgrim girl. Needless to say, that wasn't true, just a theory even, and he spent the night in the county jail. He's gotten more discreet since then, now preferring to work alone.

He heard about Freddy's soon after and became obsessed. He asked anyone and everyone who would listen about the place. Who owned it? Why did it shut down? After a few months, he started putting some details together. Five children missing so close to the place shutting down, their bodies never found? He could smell a theory brewing.

He's the reason William had to start frequently hiring security guards. Vanessa was usually enough to ensure his prized possession didn't get vandalized or broken into. Well... Until Ness got involved. At first, the gate wasn't even locked. It was just some simple chain. Then he learned how to lockpick. Once the padlock was put in place he "borrowed" the note with instructions from a late security guard.

He always wanted to snag something from the pizzeria. He brought his camera he bought through saving tips and snapped photos of literally everything. He once left with a shard of glass from a pinball machine, but he then got weird feelings about the animatronics. He took notes. After a few months he had several notebooks full of his scribbles, photos, and bits of rubble or memorabilia. His little pencil topper he actually stole from the prize counter inside the pizzeria and is his favorite find.

It got a lot more difficult once Mike got involved. Mike caught him the first night, interrogated him, and threw him out. It didn't deter Ness, and in fact it relit the spark that had started to fizzle out. He grew more determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. He started a blog, documenting his theories and thoughts online. It didn't gain much steam, but he had a few fans from around the country.

Boy was it awkward when Mike came into the diner the first time. Ness hid, for the first time ever, in the back. It worried his coworkers because he wasn't one to avoid meeting someone new. Quite the opposite. Ness did peek, once, only to be met by Mike's ragged, sleep-deprived glare.

They didn't talk the first few times, but Abby was fascinated by Ness. Her "friends" were too, telling her that they recognized the waiter. She demanded and begged Mike to take her to the run down diner again and again, and eventually he obliged.

Eventually, the two warmed up to each other.

Ness went with Mike during the Climax of the film. Vanessa still makes an appearance and gets stabbed, but she's more a background character. Ness, Mike, and Abby get out of the crumbling building by the skin of their noses.

Mike and Abby become regulars, even having "their" table. Ness knows their order by heart, and always has something new to share with Abby.

ness usually prefers animals over people because while growing up he was always alone. he never had any friends that lasted, and the other kids would often ignore him and would only (reluctantly) let him play with them if they were literally forced to by a teacher.

whenever he was alone he would search for little bugs to play with. he would sometimes watch ants at anthills or play with ladybugs that he found, which the other kids found weird so they started avoiding him more than they did before. there was a cat on his street that he would sit and pet after school while other kids were hanging out with friends or going to the park.

as he got older his parents would ask about him going out with friends. at first he would say that his friends were too busy to come out and play along with other excuses, but as he grew more he realised that he couldn’t make excuses forever. he started lying, saying that he had plans with friends and was going to hang out with them later, and would leave the house in the afternoon for a few hours as if he was hanging out with friends.

in reality, he was going to pet stores to look at the animals and visiting dog kennels where you was allowed to take the dogs up for adoption on little walks around the property. it always made him feel less lonely, and it stopped his beloved parents from worrying about him. this went on for years, all the way up to present day where he is working at sparky’s.

he has always preferred animals since they never judged him, but will instantly latch onto anyone who wants to be his friend. there had been a few times where someone asked to be friends and then ditched him when they found out he was “weird” (autistic) leading to him being alone all over again.

that changed when he met mike, though. mike came to the diner one day with abby, and ness was their waiter. abby had brought a notebook to draw in but she had already used it too much and didn’t have enough space left. ness tore out a few pages of his notepad that he uses to take orders. abby was so happy and gave him a big smile, and mike gave him a small nod of thanks. ness took their orders and then walked off to give it to the kitchen and take other orders.

when their food was ready he took it to them, and abby was happily scribbling away on the paper that ness had given her. he was happy to see it. kids had always been easier to interact with. they weren’t as judgemental as other adults.

when abby and mike finished their food and had paid, they were just about to walk through the door before abby suddenly yelled “wait!” and spun on her heel. she ran over to ness with paper in hand, tugging on his sleeve. ness turned to look at her with a confused smile and watched as abby grabbed his hand and put some paper on it before turning and running back to mike.

ness watched her run away before looking down at the paper. he almost burst into tears on the spot. it was a little drawing of him, with a heart next to it and ‘thank you!’ written next to the heart.

mike and abby became frequent customers after that, and each time abby would give ness a little doodle before leaving. he thought it was adorable and kept them in a folder at home. eventually mike and ness became friends, and ness invited mike and abby over for dinner. mike found the folder of abby’s drawings. there was *so many.*

-mike probably can't fall asleep unless he's playing the nature sounds at this point but one night they're chilling on the couch and ness notices mike starting to get sleepy so he starts to softly sing and mike is Schlumped. after that he much prefers falling asleep to ness's voice than the nature sounds

-ness grew up in the small town freddie's is in and probably grew up going to sparky's (and freddie's) a lot. most of the older folk who still go to the diner have known him since he was little. i think of his generation he's the only one who stayed bc most people his age moved out as soon as they could so he's kinda the towns kid in that sense??

-this one comes from the discord but he grew up going to freddie's and his favorite animatronic was always chica! i like to think he eventually gets to meet abby's friends and his parents probably never let him get to close to the animatronics for #safety reasons so he's incredibly excited to hang out with them

-ooh wait i have a hard time fitting vanessa anywhere in this canon divergence lmao but! i think her and ness originally had a hard time getting along but eventually they bond over their pasts with freddy's (and their shared names!) while mike is just like ??? in the background lmao (wlw and mlm solidarity?)

-abby absolutely LOVES ness (which is Very Important if you're going to be dating Mike) ness will sometimes babysit for mike but when the three of them are hanging out mike always makes jokes about how he feels like he's babysitting two kids instead of one

-speaking of abby, they don't really get a lot of one-on-one time with one another bc mike can't really afford another babysitter and vanessa has an actual job, so on their dates their joined by abby as the third wheel kinda lmao but ness always makes sure to give the schmidts an equal amount of attention and constantly reassures mike that he doesnt mind abby tagging along bc he's always liked kids and mike just heart eyes

-still the lack of alone time always makes mike nervous bc he doesn't think ness knows him entirely and doesn't think he'll still like him if he does but whenever vanessa can baby sit and they manage to go on a date, just the two of them, ness always lets mike knows that he likes him just as he is

Between all of those posts, Ness has interacted with the Sparky's Diner account too, which is ran by his sibling 'Andy' (because in the book it's said that Ness' family own the Diner, that's the only "canon" I'm taking from the book. Completely made Andy up)

Andy teases Ness about how he stares at "your security guy" in the comments of several Sparky's Diner posts, Ness responds back and that leads to him getting Mike's (security guys) number after Mike had written it on a receipt that Andy picked up instead because Ness was busy with another table. Andy makes a post on the Sparkys account about how "you should really notice this! Also, make sure to return 10 receipts to get a free coffee on the house!" Ness proceeds to freak out in the comments at realising Mike left him his number and offers anything in the world to Andy so he'll give him the receipt that had Mike's number on it.

This is the shortest way I can explain the LOOORE, but I plan to make a full in depth post about it all soon Including behind the scenes lore that has only been hinted at and not given full context (Mike randomly posting on Ness' story is a GREAT example because securitywaiter isn't established yet. Since Ness (FNAF Movie) is the newest addition to the egos, I’m going to answer him here

Ness: - As a waiter, he’s seen a lot of things. From angry customers, to child temper tantrums, to adult temper tantrums. Not a lot is able to rattle him - But I do believe that he does sometimes get bothered by the rude comments that customers throw at him. Not like Aunt Jane, that was minor. But when customers say more personal things, or threats - If you work with him at Sparky’s, he will definitely go find you when he has one of these moments. If the restaurant isn’t busy, he’ll pull you into the back area and just ask for a hug. Maybe, if you have time, he’ll ask if he can rant to you for a couple minutes - But when even the restaurant is busy, and there’s no way to get a moment alone, he’ll cling to you for a little bit, helping you carry out dishes to customers, so you can work a little bit more efficiently. - Orrrr… yet another alternative, you help out on his part of the diner! And if someone says something mean to him again, you can back him up!

I HAVE RETURNED FROM THE FNAF MOVIE AND I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS

I had such a fun time with this movie! There were a ton of Easter eggs I caught and I’m sure there’s a few that I missed! My best advice for anyone wanting to see this movie is don’t take it super seriously, you’ll enjoy it more! The makers of this film weren’t lying when they said that they made this movie for the fans, I do feel like fans will enjoy this movie way more than a general audience and that’s perfectly fine! It’s campy at some parts and funnier than I thought it would be, but that’s what made it so fun! Now for the nitty-gritty…

What I liked…

• First off, Matthew Patrick is a fucking LIAR! He does have a cameo in the movie, he says his iconic “That’s just a theory” line which was great! He’s a waiter at a diner, which leads me to my next point

• The diner was named “Sparky’s”, which I feel like only OG fans will get the reference. But for those of you who don’t know, back when FNAF 1 came out, there was a rumor of a secret/rare animatronic in the game called Sparky the Dog. There was a fake image floating around showing him standing in the door to parts and service. This was later confirmed to be fake. BUT! In the movie they also have a dog-looking animatronic in the parts and service room which absolutely took me out lol

• Acting was great! Everyone was fun to watch, Josh Hutcherson was a great lead as Mike and Piper Rubio was so sweet as Abby but I gotta give my props to Matthew Lillard towards the end of the movie, he looked like he was having so much fun being this unhinged monster! Speaking of…

• There is a spring lock scene!! It is real!! And God was it cathartic to watch! Obviously being PG-13, they couldn’t do blood and guts galore, but I think they managed to pull it off pretty well! Afton’s scene was definitely my favorite in the film hands down! And yes, he gets his “I always come back” line which put 5 years back on my life if I’m being honest lmao

• There is blood in this movie! Not a gratuitous amount, but it was enough for what they were going for I think! The kills of the people breaking to Freddy’s were more entertaining to watch than I thought! Especially Freddy’s kill…that caught me completely off guard lmao

• There aren’t too many jumpscares but that was fine with me! They do this repeat jumpscare with a little figurine of Balloon Boy like 3 times and I thought it was funny every time! They do a really good job with tension in this movie!

• The animatronics!!!! LOVED THEM!!!! They were so detailed and well designed, they were so fun to watch!! The Jim Henson company did an absolutely stellar job with the designs, I want to hug them 🥺

• So the story…I thought it was fine! They do stray from canon by making Vanessa Afton’s daughter in the movie instead of Mike being his son. They do confirm Afton was the one who kidnapped and killed Mike’s brother Garrett. The story is kind of left open ended as if they could continue the story (which I hope they do), but I think it leaves a more or less satisfying ending!

• There’s a minor mid-credit scene with Cory Kenshin and a secret message at the very end of the credits. I couldn’t hear it well but it’s spelled-out letters exactly like the ones from the death minigames in FNAF 2

• Yes, The Living Tombstone’s FNAF song is in the end credits, I felt my soul leave my body 😭

Minor Negatives…

• The story is slow at the beginning, it takes a little bit for anything super interesting to take place

• There are some plot points that don’t get explained or resolved (which is par for the course for FNAF) but that leads me to believe that they want to make sequels which I am all here for

• The Aunt Jane character wasn’t super important, she was fine, but she was there just to serve as an antagonist to Mike for a whole 5 minutes of the movie, if that

• I wanted so much more Afton/Spring Bonnie time, it was too short for me but I am happy with what I got. Also, he didn’t wear any purple in the movie which I think is a crime 😂

• Kind of wish there was an R rated version of this movie even though FNAF isn’t known for being bloody and gory, but some parts felt a little tame

• Also please correct me if I’m wrong but, they didn’t use the Toreador March music at all?? If I missed it, please tell me but I was waiting to hear it and it never came from what I remember

Speculation…

• So the biggest plot issue for me was that they never explained Afton’s intentions for killing. I think fans of the games know why he’s killing, but the general audience won’t. I’m sure it has something to do with the saw blade machine that tries to stuff your head into Freddy’s head. But it wasn’t clear. Vanessa never gave us a straight answer either even though she was in on it from the beginning.

• Towards the beginning of the movie, Abby is shown to be talking to her “invisible friend”, this is before Mike is hired as Freddy’s security guard. Turns out that friend is the ghost kid who possess Golden Freddy/Fredbear (again, isn’t clear lol). I wanna know why that kid showed up before Mike and Abby even went to the location??

• I may be reading too much into this, but when Mike goes in to get a new job after being fired from his mall security guard job, he’s talking to “Steve” and Steve does something interesting. He’s berating him for his inability to hold down a job, the he looks at his name on the file and just goes “…Mike S…” and just, doesn’t finish saying his name. He looks at Mike really weird like he’s trying to find something, and then just completely changes the subject. IDK, I’ll probably have to watch it again, and I think it would be a stretch to go the “Mike Afton” route especially since they established Vanessa was his kid. But ya never know with FNAF 😂

• Also the secret message that was spelled out at the end of the credits. If any of y’all know what they spelled, please tell me because I could not figure it out! I would love to know what it said!

Conclusion…

I just had a blast with this movie! I wasn’t sure what to expect with this movie but I think Blumhouse and everyone who worked on this movie did an amazing job, you can tell they put so much heart and soul into this! I will patiently be awaiting the announcement of the next movie until then!
