"Good evening, New York City! How are you? It's one of them days now. We're gonna dedicate tonight's show to the memory of the life and laughter of Ozzy Osbourne. For being the Prince of Darkness, he sure gave us a lotta light. So we're gonna tap into that tonight and carry it forward through a time of darkness." - MSG // July 22nd 2025 ⸸♡

Today I planned on talking about the ritual yesterday but mid way through my rant I heard the news that Ozzy Osbourne has passed away and for the rest of the day I couldn't so much as look at my instruments. Ozzy was one of my biggest inspirations of music ever. Tony Iommi was my reason to play guitar, yes, but Ozzy was my reason for metal. To say that I am devastated is an understatement, especially after seeing him two weeks ago.
Rest in Peace Ozzy, go on to the afterlife and join Lemmy and Rhodes and raise hell together.

He picked up that bra like it was poisonous too
I fear that Perpetua calling someone cheap because of their choice of bra and throwing money he licked at them may well be my new 'I was there face down in décolletage'.

I mean, he *basically* made a cult made up of the insane fandom he created.
Do you ever think about how Tobias Forge
fully understands cult tactics and manipulation
is very good at gaining engagement/fans/followers
is very charismatic, especially in front of a crowd
shows a lot of empathy to people and makes them feel seen
enjoys religious themes/imagery
and in other words
could have EASILY started a cult but didn't because
he's just too darn nice and
doesn't want that kind of responsibility on his shoulders
Because I think about that sometimes.

My gay little ass is now looking for any clip of Papa V and Yungblud from Back to the Beginning because I love them so much.
Also, on a similar topic, I think ghost needs to release a ep of covers again, including Bohemian Rhapsody (as much as people for some reason dislike it, I love it) and Bark at the Moon.

I totally agree about GNR, I saw them about 3 years ago for the first time and they sounded fucking awful and I remember me (and other fans who complained) getting absolutely torn to shreds from other fans for being ungrateful?? But the thing is, their shows aren't cheap, we paid a lot of money for what was supposed to be a one off and now we cant even listen to the studio recordings the same which is wild, honestly I think because they get paid so well they don't know when to stop which is unfortunate because they could've gone out with a bang but uh...
Yeah I've heard thay GnR's last few performances were shit. I myslef am not the biggest GnR fan but I have sympathy for anyone that unfortunately paid for a show then they sounded like that. I hate when bands do it for the money and not the fans, they should know when to stop and they should've done it years ago! I would've loved to see Halestorm later so she could've gotten a lot more energy (personally at least I felt like it was lacking a bit of audience energy) or even GnR not even there. But what's done is done, GnR definitely isn't a band I will be seeing again. Though I may go to a Tool or Gojira concert after seeing them live, though I am already happily seeing Ghost and Zakk Sabbath this year!

Since I am a man who has musical knowledge, was at Back to the Beginning and has opinions, and this is all just me ranting about shit I may as well share. You can disagree, but be nice please, I don't care if you hate all my takes, I'll have a discussion not an argument.
I'm gonna be honest, the traffic was bad and we ended up missing Mastodon and part of Rival Sons. But Rival Sons did sound good!
Anthrax never usually disappoints. Normally I would say they didnt but genuinely think their cover was really poor. Instrumentally it was great, the issue was it was vocally not great. As a singer myself, I can tell him that he really should've sang it down in his range, the song was way to high vocally.
Halestorm, oh my god there's never anything bad I can say about my lovely woman. I LOVE Lizzie Hale! Incredible 10/10 best ever love her especially Perry Mason <3
Lamb Of God, we quickly grabbed water during their set because we dont know the band well, but they sounded good to me!
Supergroup A
Lizzie was once again a 10/10 amazing incredible and perfect person (I cant speak poorly of my queen) and obviously our instrumentalists were amazing!!
Because this is about the music, I am going to put no further comment but that the majority of the audience booed David of disturbed, if you don't know what's going on, please look yourself and form your own opinion. I will say though, he sounded great, incredible even.
Yungblud, holy shit Yungblud. I didnt know he could be that fucking good. My god, he was incredible. (I am biased, I love him, such a cool guy)
I missed everything from after Changes with Yungblud to the start to Gojira. We grabbed food and got out of the sweaty arena for a minute. I'm not a huge Alice in Chains fan anyways.
I really enjoyed Gojira, the only song of theirs I consistently have listened to is Mea Culpa (it was amazing live) but their whole set was amazing, I really enjoyed their Sabbath cover specially, they seemed a bit worried about it but it sounded great!
Supergroup B
The Symptom of the Universe drum off was really fun. Personally, huge fan of the Tool drummer and his million tom drums and symbols, but all 3 drummers looked like they had a lot of fun!
Hearing Breaking the Law with KK was amazing, I wish Judas Preist could've been there but I was happy that they at least featured a Preist song.
Ok ok I'm about to talk shit I'm sorry. Sammy Hagar seemed to barely know the lyrics he was singing, he seemed to care less about the cover and cared way too much about Rock Candy. Not the biggest fan of him for that, kinda shitty.
PAPA! PAPA V! I SAW HIM!! Seriously though there was not enough energy for him and I felt bad, he sounded great and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Personally I think he should've been given a second song to do (cough cough insted of Sammy Hagar... what who said that, not me) but he NAILED Bark at the Moon (I barked for papa <3)
Ok listen, Steven Tyler was good, not great, but good. He got old quick to be honest. He didnt sound bad, especially since he is supposed to be retired, but he got old really quick.
Pantera! God I love Pantera! I appreciate him dedicating the set to their band members that left us far too early. Cowboys from Hell and Walk were amazing, but Planet Caravan felt diffrent from the rest of their performance, the song felt more emotional for the band as a whole, it was beautiful.
Tool! Tool is a band I've never seen live till the concert. They are fun to watch, the singer is a little goofy but that's the fun of it. Their guitarist looks oddly like Johnny Depp too. The werid shit I just notice. Overall, loved their set, I hope to see them fully live at some point.
Slayer's set was good, but I will be honest it felt a bit too long. Not much besides that.
I honestly left to get food again during GnR. They're alright, I'll be honest, they sounded shitty. Thats GnR. You can hate me for this take, but thats just my opinion.
I love you Metallica, always have, always will. I can never complain about them, I have seen them live before and hell the last time I preformed live I played 6 Metallica covers! Love them, always will.
Ozzy and Sabbath. Oh my god, that was emotional. I was happy they honored Rhodes before Ozzy started, he was one of the greatest in metal history. Ozzy sounded great live, Mama I'm Coming Home I think made the whole arena cry (me included) and the Sabbath set also sounded amazing. I nearly cried again at the sight of Iommi (says the guitarist) and seeing the band together was incredible, even though Ozzy couldn't stand, it was still beautiful, I think by the end the whole arena (including the performers and Sabbath themselves) were crying. Truly a amazing end to a historic band and I was so lucky to be there.
Overall notes:
Listen, I love my queen Lizzie Hale but godamn you couldn't even get one more female preformer at least for this. Pretty Reckless? In This Moment? Hell even Evanescence or just Amy Lee! Fucking anything even for like the supergroups or something? Idk, I may just be nitpicking I just thought since its honoring the creation of metal at least have women to represent too.
I cant say anything bad ever about our instrumentals ever, always love and appreciate your instrumentals, yes bass and drums, stop only appreciating the guitars and only sometimes the drums istg.
In all incredible performances from almost everyone involved, I was so grateful to get tickets. I love you Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler <3 and ofc love you Papa V and Lizzie Hale
