Friday, March 15, 2024 - part 2

We had a really great event with Eileen Collins. She gave a short presentation, answered some questions, then did the book signing and spoke with nearly every single person who attended. She was gracious and friendly and hung out with the staff for a bit after the event even though she must have been exhausted. She had been working with the Spacewoman documentary film crew all day.

Our office manager Samantha did an amazing job getting Eileen to do the event with us and organized the entire thing. Without Samantha, it would not have happened, so big shout out to her. And a big thank you to Eileen Collins!

MY SPACEWOMAN TLM OC!!!!!! Idea to make one from @krismalware!!!!!

Why the out of place theming? its based on how you acquire her helmet!!! Her grey helmet comes from two medieval sets. (My other option wouldve been her as a child, i thought this was more interesting!!)

So she was from Middle Zealand (Or Knights Club…..i dunno) and randomly decided to become an astronaut after Freedom Friday! Havent really decided what she would do exactly but she is new to the whole thing. Also not the brightest….

ALSO. She would speak either Middle English but When depicting her it doesnt have to be accurate at all really!! Just have fun with it and note the crew has barely an idea of what she’s saying most of the time.

She is well aware of how she sticks out and feels a bit foolish at times. Shes sweet but can often be stubborn! And gets along with those who try to understand her.

Okay so a little lore! Evenny and spenny are both siblings, Evenny being the oldest one, spenny always looked up to her and always wanted to work with her, so one day he got accepted in the space station!…But as a test subject. The collar he has make him stronger, meaning that he always gets into tests and exams to see what happens to the human body in space. Oh poor guy. Meanwhile Evenny is the a fitness instructor because eek! Your bones get old and evil in space…and you have to move a lot so it doesn’t affect you in earth! They both care for eachother but Evenny really needs to learn to listen, she thinks that spenny likes being stronger just like her so she doesn’t worry so much… And also clenney is there but he’s just a cool guy

Hi! I just came across your older LGBT sci fi database and wanted to first thank you for the work you've put into that! I'm always trying to find older sci fi, particularly written by women and especially about lgbtq themes so this is my personal Holy Grail. Second I have a suggestion for an addition. Solution Three by Naomi Mitchison is set in a world where homosexuality is the norm and surrogacy/test tube babies are how population is created/controlled. It's focus is more on the issue of population and motherhood ultimately but the queerness of characters and the societal fabric is a major part of the story. It was written in 1975 so it also predicted test tube babies. Mitchison's Memoir of a Space Woman might also qualify? Thanks again for this wonderful resource.
