Thursday Ch-ch-check-In

One of the most interesting things that I have learned to do through this writing program is to take into consideration my audience. Previously, the only things I was concerned with were the information I was researching and putting it together in a cohesive way that made sense to me and my professors. Thinking about the audience and what they may be absorbing from my writing forces me to write in a more concise and approachable manner. Now, this week I have been interested in the key concepts of information architecture and discourse community. These new concepts break the needs of the audience down even further. This is helpful when designing content for the web because I believe that web writing success stems from finding your niche. I believe designing content with structure and a cultural voice that an audience connects with is, invaluable . 25 years ago today, Beastie Boys released Check Your Head on April 21, 1992. Straight up, this is my favorite album and it inspires me every time I listen to it.
