I did some lightning tests with Sovua to destress after a long day and I just think they’re neat. I like the first one a lot more but the second one is really funky too

Sovua doesn’t freely give out love. They’re a kind person, they have plenty of love to pass around, but they feel people need to earn it before they can be shown affection. Most people won’t hear a real genuine purr out of Sovua until they’re in a committed relationship which comes from a deep sense of love and trust developed in that relationship or have been friends for many years. 

Most notably this shows up in their relationship with their best friend and ex-husband, Ichiro. Ichiro and Sovua met when they were in their early 20s, they lived on the same floor of an apartment building near Starfleet Academy. Ichiro and Sovua started dating after about a few years of knowing each other, getting married when Sovua was 25 and then splitting when they were about 30. Ichiro heard Sovua purr the first time when they had been dating for a year after two years of friendship. It was a surprise to him, but Sovua trusted him enough to relax that much in front of him.

Another Friday night alone. For Sovua M’Triss, this was normal. It had been normal for10 years. Jumping from posting to posting, starship to starship, such was the life of a Starfleet Criminal Investigative officer, they supposed. No one had stuck around, tried to make friends with the Caitian. Sovua just assumed they were too scary for most people to want to make friends with. 

Sovua hadn’t particularly needed anyone, they’d been alone since moving to Earth to finish their studies at Starfleet Academy. It was a good experience, however lonely it was. No friends, no one more than acquaintances. Sovua wasn’t really a social butterfly, especially around all these small and potentially prey like species. 

In the darkness of their quarters, Sovua sat alone. No one to talk to, not even a friend. Just them and their pieces of home. The only things they had left in the universe

Headcanon A:  realistic

Sovua sheds like crazy and needs to brush their fur twice a day and wash it so it stays at peak fluff.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

Hehe catnip make Sovua go brrrrrrrrrr and catch the laser pointer dot

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

Sovua is constantly afraid they’re going to hurt someone on the ship they serve on. They’re a beast in all senses of the word, unusually large with teeth and claws. They repress their emotions a lot so they don’t accidentally scare someone, even the positive ones. 

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Sovua is really tall, like really tall. I know canonically Caitians are human sized but I think them being big cat sized is hilarious and that is why Sovua is nearly eight feet tall.

Paul isn’t really hip with memes but he does like this one. 

Sovua, also not really into memes but does appreciate a good one from time to time so here’s their favorite.

16. What kind of books does your muse like to read?

Mark is very fond of old fantasy books, I think. Probably stuff with torn up paged and covers that are worn and peeling with age. 

19. Does your muse have any roommates they’ve hated?

I can’t say so off the top of my head, Sovua generally keeps a lot to themself and doesn’t like to make a fuss. 

17. If your muse could be in any franchise (that isn’t their own), what would they pick?

Probably Star Wars or Battlestar Galactica. Rhys  just likes space a lot.

21. If it’s hot, does your muse open a window or turn on the AC?

Paul is definitely an open the window kind of guy unless its unbearably muggy and humid. Hell, he’ll even open the window a crack when its raining or if he just wants some fresh air. 

25. What is your muse’s go to deli order?

Paul is a classic guy, he gets an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese or an egg bagel with turkey, lettuce, and tomato. No mayo. 

 2. Does your muse have any plants? If so, what kind?

Sovua definitely keeps plants! Probably stuff that grows in colder areas but they also like ferns. 

5. Does your muse light candles, incense, etc.?

Sovua loves candles. Usually the scents are more forest-y and earthy.

8. Are there any special self care rituals your muse has?

Sovua does a lot of taking care of themself but the one they do most commonly is brushing their fur every night after having a cup of tea. 

1. What kind of music does your muse listen to to relax?

Just whatever Book puts on, Grudge is pretty partial to just chilling out in silence. 

7. Does you muse have a special place they like to sit while they relax (next to a window, in a chair, etc.) ?

Her bed is one of the better places she likes to sleep, but she also likes lying on the pilot’s console on Book’s ship.

It was a joint endeavor to procure, which is to say that Chris mentioned that it would be cool to get them something like that, and Una actually followed through with finding the artist and commissioning it. Sovua hadn’t been expecting anything on Valentine’s Day, most of their exposure to the day had been when they were previously married and Ichiro had always been insistent he wouldn’t give anything until White Day, so this was a very pleasant surprise. They gently unwrapped the present, looking at the fine craftsmanship of the big cat, it didn’t look too much like Sovua, but they could tell it had some aspects of a cat similar to their own body pattern and types. It filled their heart to know that both Una and Chris had pitched in to get them something. It was nice to be loved.

A SLIGHTLY ALTERED TIMELINE.

Cases were never easy, especially not when children were involved. It was even worse when it was your first posting alone on a starship. Young Lieutenant Sovua M’Triss had not taken well to finding out a child was involved in their case. They were exhausted, working hours to deal with all of the repercussions and red tape that they had learned were part of the job. 

They tried hard not to get emotional, not to snap at other out of fear of scaring them. However, when they’d bumped into the first officer, horrible snarl stitched across their muzzle as they had drank far too much coffee, they were surprised to see the look in her eyes. She was understanding to Sovua’s plight, but seemed very quiet about her understanding. 

Then, the captain not far behind and his smile light up the corridor. That smile couldn’t clean the coffee that had spilled all over Una’s tunic, however. Sovua had been apologizing and their ears were flattened back. Pike had commented how they looked like a kicked puppy. A kicked kitten would be more accurate, Una had said with a slight twitch under her eye. 

They were going to lose their job on the flagship only a few days in, Sovua had thought, red eyes welling up with tears. Caitians rarely cried, but after the hell that had been the last week, they were truly ready to collapse. Then the feeling of a human hand on their wrist. Sovua looked back up, seeing Pike with a smile on his face, understanding and kind.

Maybe this posting wouldn’t be so bad.
