Ingredients: 8 pieces of chicken drumsticks and thighs. 1 cup buttermilk. 1 tablespoon hot sauce. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1 tablespoon paprika. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon onion powder. 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Salt and pepper to taste. Vegetable oil for frying.

Instructions: In a large bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken pieces to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight. In another bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Remove chicken from buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge chicken in flour mixture, coating evenly. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it reaches 350F 175C. Carefully place chicken pieces in the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry chicken for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer fried chicken to a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy the spicy goodness!

My birthday was amazing today. This lunch was the best. I couldn't eat everything, but you bet I took home the rest because I couldn't stand the thought of leaving it behind. Yea...it was that good. I don't consider myself a professional "foodie" that knows every ingredient and I certainly haven't had the experience they have. When I say foodie, I mean that I love food. I love making it, eating it, and looking at other people's dining experiences. Today for my 30th bday my mom took my to @lucilles_bbq and I left fuller than I have been in forever! Rib sticking food. Comfort food. I had the southern fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, country gravy and a veggie medley with a ceaser salad. My mom had this delicious salad with tri tip ends and a spicy dressing. My son had an incredible cheeseburger (not pictured). We ate fried pickles (reccomend!)and we indulged in biscuits with apple cinnamon butter. At the end, they surprised me with a piece of brownie cake and ice cream. One of my all time favourite things to eat has to be fried chicken. Whether that be KFC or homemade I just love it. When I make my own I infuse buttermilk with rosemary, sage and thyme then soak the chicken in it over night. This tenderises the meat and gives it a really nice flavour. I season my flour with some Cajun seasoning, salt, pepper, rosemary, garlic, sage and thyme. Coat the chicken in this mix then dunk it in the butter milk again and then again in the flour. Then fry in butter and oil. Get the chicken crispy and golden brown before transferring to an oven to finish off the cooking. This is delicious and easy to do.
