A special appreciation post for my fellow deep south aro/ace folk. Where we’re surrounded by the older generations telling us we need to get married and procreate all the time. Especially if you’re afab. The pressure to date/get married and have kids down here is way too high, i just don’t get why it’s the only thing ppl talk about 😭

Being aroace in the deep south is such a crazy experience, esp if you’re afab. The pressure to marry/ have kids/ date/ etc is SO HIGH. Especially within many religious communities. Which sucks because i’d love to go to lgbtq+ friendly religious places of all sorts and learn stuff but bro i don’t wanna hear about my “fertile womb” and my “purpose in life is being a mother” 😭 just give me a farm and a qpr partner to live with

My new neighbor is the coolest fucking person EVER.
She was asking about my haircut, and eventually said "but I couldn't get a haircut like that because I would look like a lesbian--oh no, are you a lesbian?! I didn't mean to offend you if so!" To which I flushed and freaked out a little bc I was there with my dad, our other neighbor neighbor/plug, and his wife.
But after explaining that I'm "bi" (as i put it publicly), and not offended by her lighthearted comment, the conversation recovered well. And she, a 64 year old woman in Alabama, told us about how she is asexual, and even defined it for us! It was such an amazing experience for me, as she was definitely the oldest queer person I've ever met, and I was simply floored by her level of confidence and pride in her asexual identity. It was the highlight of my day :)

Happy Pride to Everyone
Tumblr media
Inspired by the two demons presiding over the marriage of the happy medieval gay couples in the previous post, I decided to do my own Pride Demon art featuring my two gay daemon monster locos, SpookyHenry and his beloved Heavy Harry, who looks ready to anticipate LGBTQIA WRATH Month.
To everyone celebrating Pride, enjoy! Stay safe in these dark times.

The thing about being aegosexual (in my experience) is that sex/masturbation feels more like a chore than anything.
Welp, looks like the vagina craves a dick again. Wonderful Just another day. We almost made it two whole months without needing another round to keep the good ol' brain happy

Hey i’m aroace and i just wanted to like let everyone know that lots of my posts talk about being aroace. Sometimes one is talked about more than the other but typically speaking both are normally mentioned in the same post. So if you feel like it’s tagged wrong (like tagging aro or ace when you feel the post isn’t including it) that i’m using both tags since my experiences being both aro and ace are intertwined tightly. Like if i mention anything about being ace i’ll probably mention being aro and it goes the other way around as well. Anyways yeah i’ve seen a ton of posts with people upset because the tagging was done incorrectly and i just wanted to make it clear that i’m tagging based on my personal experiences and try to include both
And i know at the end of the day a tag on a post isn’t the end of the world but i don’t want people trying to hunt me down and get mad so this is just to put it out there 😭

How do I come out to a religious family? I see these people maybe 1-3 times a year and I always get stressed around September. My identity is very important to me, and it eats me up that I can't be open with them, but I wanna get it over with.

Ace awareness week: Golden Orchid Societies
Golden Orchid Societies were communities of women around the 19th and early 20th centuries in southern China who chose not to marry, or not to live with their husbands. Some Golden Orchid sisters had a solo wedding, showing their desire to remain independent from a husband. These women were known as "self-combed women", because they would dress their own hair before the ceremony, rather than having it combed by a married female relative, as was normal in a male-female marriage.
Some Golden Orchid sisters may have been asexual or aromantic. Others may have been women-loving-women, or had other reasons to avoid traditional marriage. Nonetheless, their history provides us with an insight into ace history, and what historical possibilities there have been for asexual people.
Check out our podcast to learn more
