thinking again about how South Asian American boys face a dichotomy of some of the most under-acknowledged, especially proportional to its intensity, stereotype threat, and how all Asian American boys are severely under-diagnosed with neurodivergency and, unlike Asian American girls, aren't culturally inclined/pushed towards communities that will lead them to figuring that out on their own.

Tea-lover! Minghao who was so apprehensive when he had to move houses. It always took him a few months to adjust and a couple of years even for the place to feel like a home. He thought this time it would be the same.
Tea-lover! Minghao who didn't expect to smell different blends of tea coming from the next door. Ceremonial grade matcha, different kinds of pu'er, south-asian style of milk tea, masala tea, calming jasmine, and so many more. Sometimes he felt that he was invading his neighbour's privacy. But he couldn't bear to put a stop to this one piece of comfort he has. The only thing that's grounding him.
Tea-lover! Minghao who was both scared and excited to meet you. Would he bump into you at the elevator? Or will it be near your door? Or maybe at the resident community meeting and someone else would introduce the two of you? But how he actually met you was when you knocked on his door with a "Hi, i am your neighbour y/n. It's so nice to meet you! I made some mango float and thought I would share some with you."
Tea-lover! Minghao and you clicked so well together that it was hard for him to believe that he didn't even know you for six months. He confessed to a week into the friendship that he loved the smell of tea from your place. And from then on, the whole apartment complex knew you guys were thick as thieves. From being excited about different blends to visiting each other for little tea sessions. Sometimes, just sometimes, on early mornings when you were in front of him, all serious about Minghao's tea ceremony rituals yet so soft in your pajamas, he would give himself a minute to think about what ifs. He would unfurl that tiny bit of hope in his heart that makes him wish that ten years later this would remain the same but he would have the extra privilege of kissing you, of being with you.
Tea-lover! Minghao who overthinks each time he gives you a gift. Because it has to be tea-themed but it also has to be perfect. Your 1000 watt smile when you love what he gets you keeps him going for days. Minghao finds himself requesting Joshua and Dokyeom's help more and more for cute gift ideas. Maybe one day he could give you the red and white checkered apron and mittens set he bought. They have little teacups with saucers on them which you would adore. The only thing that's holding him back is that it's too domestic to gift a friend.
Tea-lover! Minghao who got overwhelmed when you finally got tired of him not asking you out and just kissed him. When he short-circuited and just stared at you, you held his face and kissed him again. Just to make sure he doesn't second guess anything about where this relationship is headed.
Tea-lover! Minghao whose new hobby is tasting tea by kissing you every time you drink some. When you tease him by asking if he can taste anything, he claims that any kind of tea is sweeter when it has the touch of your lips. And he is not even lying. You made tea and life sweeter by just being here.

Francis Buchanan’s 1807 A Journey from Madras through the Countries of Mysore, Canara and Malabar is one of the few European sources to offer insight into pre-colonial forest utilisation in the region. [...] Buchanan records [...] [the] tradition of only harvesting sandalwood once every dozen years may have been an effective local pre-colonial conservation measure. [...] Starting in 1786, Tipu Sultan [ruler of Mysore] stopped trading pepper, sandalwood and cardamom with the British. As a result, trade prospects for the company [East India Company] were looking so bleak that by November 1788, Lord Cornwallis suggested abandoning Tellicherry on the Malabar Coast and reducing Bombay’s status from a presidency to a factory. [...] One way to understand these wars is [...] [that] [t]hey were about economic conquest as much as any other kind of expansion, and sandalwood was one of Mysore’s most prized commodities. In 1799, at the Battle of Srirangapatna, Tipu Sultan was defeated. The kingdom of Mysore became a princely state within British India [...]. [T]he East India Company also immediately started paying the [new rulers] for the right to trade sandalwood.
British control over South Asia’s natural resources was reaching its peak and a sophisticated new imperial forest administration was being developed that sought to solidify state control of the sandalwood trade. In 1864, the extraction and disposal of sandalwood came under the jurisdiction of the Forest Department. [...] Colonial anxiety to maximise profits from sandalwood meant that a government agency was established specifically to oversee the sandalwood trade [...] and so began the government sandalwood depot or koti system. [...]
From the 1860s the [British] government briefly experimented with a survey tallying every sandal tree standing in Mysore [...].
Instead, an intricate system of classification was developed in an effort to maximise profits. By 1898, an 18-tiered sandalwood classification system was instituted, up from a 10-tier system a decade earlier; it seems this led to much confusion and was eventually reduced back to 12 tiers [...].

Meanwhile, private European companies also made significant inroads into Mysore territory at this time. By convincing the government to classify forests as ‘wastelands’, and arguing that Europeans would improves these tracts from their ‘semi-savage state’, starting in the 1860s vast areas were taken from local inhabitants and converted into private plantations for the ‘production of cardamom, pepper, coffee and sandalwood’.

Yet attempts to cultivate sandalwood on both forest department and privately owned plantations proved to be a dismal failure. There were [...] major problems facing sandalwood supply in the period before the twentieth century besides overexploitation and European monopoly. [...] Before the first quarter of the twentieth century European foresters simply could not figure out how to grow sandalwood trees effectively.
The main reason for this is that sandal is what is now known as a semi-parasite or root parasite; besides a main taproot that absorbs nutrients from the earth, the sandal tree grows parasitical roots (or haustoria) that derive sustenance from neighbouring brush and trees. [...] Dietrich Brandis, the man often regaled as the father of Indian forestry, reported being unaware of the [sole significant English-language scientific paper on sandalwood root parasitism] when he worked at Kew Gardens in London on South Asian ‘forest flora’ in 1872–73. Thus it was not until 1902 that the issue started to receive attention in the scientific community, when C.A. Barber, a government botanist in Madras [...] himself pointed out, 'no one seems to be at all sure whether the sandalwood is or is not a true parasite'.
Well into the early decades of twentieth century, silviculture of sandal proved a complete failure. The problem was the typical monoculture approach of tree farming in which all other species were removed and so the tree could not survive. [...]
The long wait time until maturity of the tree must also be considered. Only sandal heartwood and roots develop fragrance, and trees only begin developing fragrance in significant quantities after about thirty years. Not only did traders, who were typically just sailing through, not have the botanical know-how to replant the tree, but they almost certainly would not be there to see a return on their investments if they did. During World War I, vast amounts of sandal were stockpiled in Mysore because perfumeries in France had stopped production and it had become illegal to export to German perfumeries. For Imogen i use Saffron Vadher. She fits my criteria that the people of marquet look either south asian or middle eastern. What made me pick her is really her mouth and nose, I do tend to make Imogen's face a tad longer than hers tho.

Going down the plastic surgery rabbit hole and how it fucks with people's self esteem and self worth.
Anyway, if I get one more fucking video where someone claims that the reason South Korean girls get a double eyelid surgery is to "look more Eurocentric" I'm going to set fire to a dumpster.
You're not going to fucking stand there and tell me that South Korean girls with "double eyelid" surgery are all trying to look Eurocentric. Double eyelids are not a fucking European only thing. Double eyelids exist naturally in East Asian people, and other Asians. It also exist in other ethnicities beyond white people, shocker.
Asian people getting a surgery like the double eyelid surgery are not trying to look more Eurocentric, they're trying to look more like the Asian people who already have a double eyelid naturally. The eyeshape most of these surgeries end up with are clearly supposed to look like those who have a natural ASIAN double eyelid, NOT European.
Beyond that, you couldn't even get a good "European" double eyelid eye, because beyond just the double eyelid, the bone structure is very different. You're not getting a Eurocentric face just from a superficial skin surgery. Facial features look the way they do across different ethnicities, specifically because they are placed on different bone structures, which is why a European double eyelid is different from an East Asian double eyelid even if both are double eyelids.

Asian slaves, indigenous Americans, and identity in colonial era Mexico
The Spanish Philippines had a diverse slave population for local labor and export, including Filipino Indians [i.e. natives; indios], Muslim war captives (moros), and foreign slaves from as far away as Portuguese India.
… Upon their arrival, chino slaves [i.e. any Asian slave, not just Chinese] were absorbed by the urban economy of Mexico City, where they mainly worked as domestic servants or in textile mills (obrajes) … For their part, working in the city provided chinos with some possibilities for manumission. Chinos in domestic service were especially apt to embrace the limited opportunities available to them and to experience some social mobility. In the obrajes, chinos had few of the freedoms given to domestic servants, but they did benefit from government oversight of the industry. During official visits, chino slaves appealed for protection from overt exploitation by claiming that they were Indians (even if they were from Portuguese India). Remarkably, visiting inspectors listened to their complaints, and they often responded by liberating individual chinos under the assumption that they were indeed native vassals and could thus not be held in bondage. The overall experience of chinos in the viceroyal capital confirms the benefits of living close to the center of colonial power.
The presence of free indigenous immigrants from the Spanish Philippines in Mexico reinforced the idea that all chinos were Indians. The complex governing structure of colonial Mexico involved two republics or political communities (the república de indios and the república de españoles); this organization separated the indigenous majority from everyone else to facilitate the collection of tribute and the ministry of the Catholic Church … [N]ative immigrants from the Philippines purposely sought to confirm their membership in the Republic because corporate status provided personal advantages. They asked to be tallied in tribute rolls in Mexico to benefit from concomitant privileges, such as trading rights and legal representation through the General Indian Court. At the same time, free Filipinos were frequently confused with chino slaves - a situation that had serious consequences for Filipinos' relations with colonial institutions and enslaved individuals. Some immigrants resented having their indigenous identity questioned and sought to maintain a sense of their Indian-ness by keeping their distance from chino slaves. The majority, however, expressed solidarity with chino slaves. Filipino artisans, for example, took on chino slaves as apprentices and taught them marketable skills. Similarly, Filipino traders incorporated chinos into their own credit networks to facilitate self-purchase.
Individual chinos who were manumitted also embraced an Indian identity, regardless of whether they were from Goa, Macau, or other places in South and Southeast Asia. In this way, chinos challenged official attempts to define them solely as former slaves. Instead, they sought to join the free republic. The possibility for this kind of social integration caused widespread concern among slave owners. To defend their property rights, masters started to brand chino slaves on the face, rather than on the chest or arm as they did with Africans, in order to dissuade them from fleeing and "passing" as free Indians. This horrifying development shows that Indian communities welcomed runaway chino slaves and, by extension, that slave owners sought visible markers of their slaves' status.

This was a year filled with a bunch of great YA books, and of them all, these four were Audrey's favorites:

what is the significance of the snakes? no idea. i probably drew them badly, too.
but hinduism claims snakes represent life, death and rebirth; northeastern indian cultures consider snakes and serpentine dragons to be symbols of good luck and fortune, and protectors of water sources; and funnily enough, the sanskrit word "naga" has often been used to refer to snakes, serpentine demigods, and, very very rarely, clouds.
and maybe this is a long-winded way of saying desi!Cloud finds himself leaning towards the serpents in his journey for self-forgiveness and recovery, much like how AC Cloud is often paired with Fenrir and the wolf motif.
if i were to really follow through with desi!Cloud and the snake motif, then it almost makes sense to have desi!Sephiroth be attributed to birds, maybe specifically the garuda, not because of the wings but because most indian cultures consider snakes and birds to be enemies. Nagas and snakes were thought to reside within the underworld (and the original Nibelheim is the land of the dead); and birds, specifically eagles and the garuda, have been associated with the gods, which ties into Sephiroth pursuing godhood for most of the game.
And that little tidbit of snakes being protectors of water sources? hmm. I can see Cloud regularly visiting Aerith, him as the guardian of her grave and her gift to the world.
so. yeah, I have no idea what the purpose of snakes are in this picture. Cloud bound by fate? holding himself back from forgiveness, from growth? hmm. much to think about it

Ever since he was a child, KIYOUNG wanted to be an entertainer. There are countless home videos of him putting on a show for his parents and extended family. His specific interest in idols began in middle school, and it wasn't long before he was auditioning for various entertainment companies. He was eventually accepted into a small and now bankrupt company, where he joined a few other teenage boys aiming to debut. From the start, it was, for the lack of a better description, a shit show. An altercation that ended with Kiyoung getting stitches led his parents and a few others to sue the company. His opportunity to join Zenith Entertainment arrived in 2016, when he was in university, having otherwise given up on becoming an idol. Jaeseop, whom he had met on an overnight trip where both of their schools booked the same destination, knew of his past experience and offered him a second chance. Kiyoung took it, and that experience, however terrible, helped him debut as Fable's lead vocalist and lead dancer. As the group's eldest member and the one with the most life experience outside of being an idol, he is seen as a supportive and dependable figure to the younger members. In Fable's rookie years, he was occasionally mistaken for the group's leader. In recent years, as more information about Jaeseop's role becomes public, that mistake occurs less and less. At the end of 2022, he began his mandatory military service as an active duty soldier. He returned to the group in the summer of 2024.

A fourth generation Korean-American, ANDREW was born on September 23, 1995 in Boulder, Colorado. He is an only child who managed to hit on nearly every Asian American model minority stereotype growing up: he excelled in school (enough to skip third grade), played an instrument (piano, of his own choice), and claimed he wanted to be a professor (like his dad). Music was the single biggest challenge he faced of his own volition, and he threw himself into music production and songwriting with a fervor. The interest dogged him through high school, where he posted a few song covers and original music to a YouTube channel that never took off. At seventeen, he moved to New York for college, where he studied music composition at Columbia University. Four years, one messy friendship breakup, and copious amounts of alcohol and weed later, Andrew set his sights on the next big thing: kpop. He was never a fan of idol groups, preferring the niche, underground atmosphere of American indie bands. He put aside his prejudices for a few months during which he taught English at a hagwon in the evenings, attended various entertainment company auditions, discovered he was older than the average candidate, and finally passed the single public Zenith Entertainment audition and interview. After a year and a half of training that mostly involved dancing, Andrew made his debut as Fable's main vocalist under the stage name Yejun, which he picked for the Hanja characters 藝 (art) and 俊 (smart, handsome). Despite his qualifications, he made few contributions to Fable's discography until the release of their second full length album in 2023. Since then, he has gained a modicum of creative control while feeling completely inadequate at being in a group with Fable's concept alongside people who were born and raised in South Korea, or at least able to fake it.

Born on October 2, 1995, JAESEOP is one of the few children of his generation on his dad's side of the family. From an early age, it was thought that his future was laid out for him. He was supposed to do well in school, participate in a few extra-curriculars and become a well-rounded person, go to university, meet a nice girl, and start a family of his own. This seemingly perfect plan was derailed by his lack of interest in everything except getting along with others. Worried, his family pushed him into their backup plan instead. Jaeseop became Zenith Entertainment's first trainee shortly after the company was founded in the summer of 2016. In a case of poor communication and misplaced assumptions, he thought he was working with his uncle's new business in some sort of management capacity related to his in-progress PR degree, not as an artist. While he was meant to be an extension of Taein within the group, his unfailing moral compass and tendency to root for the underdog have made him the greatest ally of the other Fable members instead of his uncle. As Fable's leader and number one defender, he enjoys a great amount of respect from fans, who give him much more leeway compared to the other members. He gets away with running his mouth (Mingeun could never) and having a girlfriend (Haksu could never). In late 2023, he was gifted a portion of his father's share of Zenith Entertainment, giving him a stake in the company and the slightest bit more power.

INTAK was born on December 3, 1995, in Incheon, South Korea. His father's somewhat volatile job as a construction foreman saw his family moving frequently around the city. When he was twelve, his father was laid off, leaving them to relocate to Gwangyang, where his mother's family lived. Intak, who always had difficulties making friends, found this new environment, combined with his father's unemployment, extremely hostile. He found solace online instead, meeting Kiyoung on a StarCraft forum and discovering music production. The latter became a hobby for him, and he eventually started a SoundCloud account that peaked at two thousand followers. In 2016, he was invited to join Zenith Entertainment by Kiyoung, despite the two of them meeting in person only a few times. He was hesitant at first, as he held quite a few negative opinions on idols. At the same time, the thought of living in the same house as his parents forever was becoming unbearable, and so he accepted the offer. He debuted as Fable's main rapper and unofficial main producer, holding the latter position for the first few years of his career. Though Intak doesn't speak about it much, he's the one who made Taein's vision for the group a reality. His biggest responsibilities have been their debut song, 승천, and the title track of their first full-length album, 천둥. His musical contributions have lessened as he started splitting the production with Andrew, but he remains a mostly silent and integral part of the group.

HAKSU was born on August 8, 1997, exactly twenty-one years before Fable's debut. He calls it fate. An only child of only children with known fertility problems, his birth was considered nothing short of a miracle. He would also consider himself a miracle. With his comfortable and pampered childhood, he easily developed an ego. It was further exacerbated as he grew up and learned he could use his good looks and a smile to get his way. His interest in singing developed from the years he spent in his church's choir, which also did nothing to temper his opinions on himself. His interest in being an idol developed from a dream he had in his sophomore year at Sahmyook University, where he was scraping his way through a degree in business administration. Haksu was the last member added to Fable's debut lineup in late 2017, mere days after he joined the company. Eight months later, on his twenty-first birthday, he debuted as Fable's main vocalist and center. For the first few years after the group's debut, he was the only member idol fans in general would even have a chance of recognizing. His solo activities—photo shoots, advertisements, an appearance on King of Mask Singer—did nothing to bolster the group's popularity. As a result of the group's extremely uneven individual popularities, Haksu is often the bias of choice for many akgaes and sasaengs. His boyfriend approach to fan service only seems to encourage them, and they, in turn, have helped Fable gain further prominence.

EUNSU was born on July 10, 1999 in Taebaek, South Korea, a fact he tried desperately to hide. The second son of a Buddhist priest, he had the freedom to choose his own path, unlike his older brother, Yonggeum, who was set to succeed their father from the time he was born. Eunsu's choice then became music. In middle school, he and a few friends started a band, where he played bass guitar. He made the leap to Seoul for high school, where he attended SOPA and an SM Entertainment audition with some classmates. A few of them, including Eunsu, managed to pass. He would only spend a year at SM, before deciding to leave alongside Mingeun. He debuted as Fable's main rapper two years later. While a member of the group, he was most popular for his Tom and Jerry-esque antics with Haksu and his close friendship with Mingeun. In 2021, Yonggeum was the victim of a drunk driver's hit-and-run, leading to Eunsu's departure from Fable. Officially, he left for personal reasons. MINGEUN was born on November 13, 1999 in Yongin, South Korea. When he was two, he moved to Canada with his parents and older sister, Minah. His younger sister, Eunice, was born shortly after their move. Growing up, he was often labeled as a shy and solitary child. In school, he took the English name Eric, after the prince in the The Little Mermaid, which he no longer answers to. Despite immigrating and becoming a naturalized Canadian citizen at the age of twelve, his parents raised all three of their children with a favorable view of their home country. They spoke Korean at home and often traveled back to South Korea on summer vacations. On one such trip, when he was eleven, Mingeun was scouted by SM Entertainment hours before a flight at Incheon International Airport. His mother accepted the offer on his behalf, and before he knew it, he was a trainee. He spent five years—mostly summers—as an SM trainee, where he met future fellow Fable member Eunsu, before being dropped for his inability to work with others. It was, coincidentally, around the same time he dropped out of high school to pursue an idol career full time and the same time Taein founded Zenith Entertainment. A few months of relentless begging later found him as Zenith's fifth trainee. In his first few months at Zenith, he was a shoo-in for Fable's main vocalist. Two years later, following the additions of ANDREW and HAKSU and a very close call where he was initially cut from Fable's final lineup, Mingeun debuted as Fable's main dancer and lead vocalist. He is most well known for his 2020 scandal, in which fans discovered that he was not, in fact, born and raised in Yongin like he said he was, but a Canadian citizen. He took a nearly two-year hiatus from the group, and his reputation has only recently began to recover. He is one of the group's most publicly outspoken members, following the logic that his reputation can't get much worse.

BYEONGHWI was born on May 18, 2001, in Jecheon, South Korea. His career goal, for most of his life, was to be a professional soccer player, despite being only decent at the sport. It was a trend in most other areas of his life as well. He had passable grades, a few close friends, and very little wants. He stood out only for his excellent moral standing in which he could generally be trusted to have integrity and tell the truth. When he was in high school, he accompanied his best friend at the time to a Zenith Entertainment audition as part of his friend's goal to become a kpop idol. It was thought that neither of them passed the audition until Byeonghwi got a call back a few months later. He officially became a trainee in mid 2017, and made his debut in Fable a little over a year later. As the group's youngest member, he is babied by fans and the rest of Fable alike. At first, he didn't mind it. As he grew older, it became tiring for him to be continually boxed into the same persona, especially when the rest of the group got to grow personally and professionally. He's working on rebelling, but it's difficult for him when it's been ingrained in him to be good for so much of his life.

Racebending In The Harry Potter Fandom
In 2012, the fan cast were all white actors- Andrew Garfield for Remus Lupin, Ben Barnes for Sirius Black, Aaron Taylor Johnson for James Potter, Karen Gillan for Lily Evans. However, as the years progressed, fans pointed out that all the actors chosen as face claims were much too old to play the role of characters who died at 38, 36, and 21 respectively. As the Marauders fandom had another wave of popularity with All The Young Dudes in 2020, fans started to use younger face claims who were young enough to be in their late teens and early 20s, and they also began to racebend characters like James Potter and Sirius Black. Making James Potter Desi and making Sirius Black East Asian offered much more nuance to their characters. However, there’s also been a rise in Harry Potter edits using the original fancast- the all white one. I think this is a reaction to the diverse fan casts that have been used in edits over the last two years- white fans are uncomfortable no longer seeing themselves in every character, so they’ve reverted back to the 2012 fan cast.
The fan spaces are predominantly white, which is evident by the fans who make TikToks with their own faces instead of their faceclaims. The racebending of James Potter and Sirius Black, however, has shown that those who do identify as South or East Asian do carry power in the fandom, and they are able to bring their own experiences into the fandom. For example, making James South Asian and making Sirius East Asian can offer more nuance and power to the canonical events in the Harry Potter texts, like James’ in-laws being rude to him and abusive to his son was because of their race, and Sirius’ family uses shame and guilt to manipulate their children because of the shame cultures that are so prominent in East Asian countries. The experiences that Asian fans have had in the real world have influenced so much how they view the Harry Potter texts, and therefore it also influences their transformative content they produce as well.

Vice President Kamala Harris has long been the target of racist and misogynistic attacks online as a woman in politics who is also Black and South Asian. As she seeks the Democratic nomination for president, the gendered, sexualized and racial disinformation against her could get worse — and experts warn there may be less comprehensive oversight by tech companies to stop its spread this election cycle.
In the days since President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection and endorsed Harris to be his successor, right-wing media personalities and others have posted disinformation and misinformation — intentional and unintentional spreading of false information, respectively — about Harris in memes, videos and writings online. The posts, shared on popular social media platforms, have primarily focused on sexualized and racist narratives about Harris, including claims about her dating history and her eligibility to be president. Disinformation experts who spoke with The 19th said highlighting or linking to more specific disinformation about Harris risks amplifying it.
Nina Jankowicz, cofounder and CEO of the American Sunlight Project, an organization that tracks how deceptive information is spread and its threats to democracy, believes the tech companies that run these popular platforms are not doing enough to stop the spread of disinformation about women candidates like Harris. She noted that some social media moderation systems can miss detecting posts being shared right now about Harris in part because the problematic messages are often coded to hide their meaning.  “People have free speech. People can be critical of people in politics, whether they’re men or women. But what we’re talking about here are posts that go against the platforms’ own terms of service — in terms of violent rhetoric, in terms of sexualized rhetoric, in terms of gender-based or ethnicity-based or race-based harassment,” she said.
Tech companies that run social media platforms have made some public commitments to address disinformation generated by artificial intelligence in election-related content. They’ve also faced scrutiny on the scope of their efforts on overall content moderation.
[...] Jankowicz, herself the target of disinformation, is the coauthor of a study conducted in 2020 and released in early 2021 that analyzed gendered abuse of women candidates. The analysis looked at 13 women across six social media platforms and more than 336,000 pieces of abusive content shared by over 190,000 users over a two-month period. Harris accounted for 78 percent of the total recorded instances of gendered abuse and disinformation.
“Unfortunately, Harris has been targeted with these as long as she’s been in politics. The internet makes them more potent,” added Jankowicz, who wrote “How to Be a Woman Online: Surviving Abuse and Harassment, and How to Fight Back,” published in 2022. “These narratives exist and they are being used in a coordinated way in order to undermine the idea that she is fit for office.” Smith said there’s power in the general public being aware of the intention here. “They’re not trolling her just to troll her. There’s a broader effort at play that is connected to undermining women’s participation in democracy and women holding office,” she said. “There is this bigger agenda.” Former President Donald Trump claimed ahead of his party’s convention this month that he would try to share a message of unity to potential voters, though his words and policy proposals have been rife with animosity toward immigrants and transgender people. He has also repeatedly criticized Harris — and not just over differences in policy positions. In early July, he posted on his Truth Social account a veiled reference to Harris’ dating history on a social media post as a means of tying it to her professional ascension.
On that same platform, Trump this week called the vice president — who is also a former U.S. senator, attorney general and district attorney — “dumb as a rock.” Trump has also tried to make fun of Harris’ laugh, which his campaign included in a memo released about her record in public office. The laughter also closes the first attack ad by a pro-Trump political action committee, released this week.  “That focus on style over substance is an attempt to diminish beliefs that she is ‘presidential,’” Kelly Dittmar, an associate professor of political science at Rutgers University and the director of research at the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), said during a call Tuesday with reporters. “All of these attacks and the degree to which they resonate reflect the persistent dominance of masculinity and Whiteness in presidential politics, and we see candidates and campaigns double down on these status quo dynamics in messaging and presentation.”
Some politicians used racist tropes to claim Harris was unqualified to run for president. Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican from Tennessee, said on Monday on social media and during a CNN interview that Harris was tapped as vice president through DEI — which stands for “diversity, equity and inclusion” but has been coopted by detractors as a racist message about a person’s qualifications for a job. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia made a similar claim on Tuesday on social media. Politico reported that House Speaker Mike Johnson has instructed Republicans to stick to messaging about Harris’ policies instead of her gender and race. It’s not just mainstream online platforms where racist and sexist messaging is running rampant. In the first 48 hours after Harris announced her intention to run for arguably the most powerful job in the world, hate speech about her rose sharply on websites where users are known to share right-wing conspiracies, according to an analysis by the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, an organization that has been tracking how political discourse is shaping the potential for political violence.
“Women politicians, particularly women of color, have long experienced harassment, misogyny, and racism, sometimes to the point of being driven out of politics,” Wendy Via, a cofounder of the project, said in a statement to The 19th. “What is shameful is that this kind of vile rhetoric in our political discourse is completely unsurprising at this point. We can’t allow ourselves to become numb to the dehumanization of women, especially as we’re being used as pawns in a political power grab and the undermining of democracy.” Hillary Clinton, the first woman to win a party’s nomination for president, talked about her own experiences in facing “sexism and double standards” in an opinion piece Tuesday, where she also spoke of the attacks she endured when she ran for president and the realities that Harris will face in the weeks ahead: “She and the campaign will have to cut through the noise, and all of us as voters must be thoughtful about what we read, believe and share.”
With Kamala Harris running for President, the racist and sexist disinformation attacks against Harris are back in full force.
These folks are scared of a powerful woman potentially becoming the next President, so these folks resort to degrading gender and race-based attacks on Harris.

saebi made her solo debut on may 14, 2013 with her first mini album, HAVEN under source music. her debut was an instant hit, dubbing her as the nation's daughter and iu's younger sister.
after the scandal that took a huge hit for source music in 2014, saebi's contract was terminated and let go from the agency. for years, she worked as a busker and ran a youtube channel to make ends for the debt that was given to her after her dismissal.
