When you get sick

Based on the Uno reverse Beel pulled in the last post.

Info: Human AU, GN!Mc.

Summary: You've got the cold and now your boyfriend must take care of you.

Warnings: general talk of sickness.

Lucifer

Has "do what I say, not what I do" energy. 

He urges you to take time off and rest. Says it's very important to relax for a timely recovery. Be sure to remember his exact words for the next time he is sick.

Will try to get out of work earlier so he can take care of you. He calls you throughout the day to see how you're doing and if you need anything. If you're in a really bad condition, he will take time off to take care of you.

He can't cook, but will order any foods you like. 

He will cuddle you if you ask, but won't offer on his own. He is a little scared of it being contagious. 

When you feel better, he won't expect anything from you but will accept any gestures of gratitude you give him.

Mammon

Whiny.

Thinks you're going to die.

You have to reassure him that it's just a cold every thirty minutes. I will try to get you to the hospital anyway.

He is completely at your service from day one. Do not dare move a muscle; the great Mammon has everything covered for you.

You have a fresh supply of hot tea always by your side. He makes sure you get all of your meals. He keeps a tally of every medicine you need to take. You basically have a personal nurse.

Lots of cuddles and massages.

If you're trembling at all because of the fever, he will hold you as if you were having a seizure.

He cries a lot when you're in pain, probably more than you.

When you're feeling better, he will expect at the very least a thank-you gift. A shopping spree would be preferable.

Leviathan

He doesn't know what to do.

Finds everything to be too overwhelming. He is really worried about you and wants to help, but he has no idea how to take care of a sick person. So, of course, he goes back to the person who used to take care of him when he was sick. Mammon.

He tries his hardest to be just as supportive, but it doesn't go well. The tea is always too hot or too cold, he only knows how to make ramen, and he keeps forgetting about the ibuprofen!

In the end, the best he can do for you is bring you more tissue boxes and lay down by your side while you watch movies. You reassure him that this is more than enough, but he still feels a little guilty.

When you feel better, make a great spectacle about how helpful he was. He did miss a butch of seasonal releases just to stay with you.

Satan

He will insist you take time off the moment symptoms start to show.

Shows up at your house with a butch of medicinal herbs. Mint to open up your nose, lavender to help with the headache, cardamom for... Something? He knows it had some healing property, but seems to have forgotten. He makes you some soup with it just in case it was important.

Won't go near you, even if you ask. Most he'd do is help you get around if your muscles are aching.

He will tell you about his latest read and how it made him feel. If you have read it, he will ask you to compare notes. Just trying to keep you entertained any way he can.

He brings all of his favorite tea blends for you to try out.

He won't expect anything in return for his care. He loves you, and that's just what you do for the people you love.

Asmodeus

Whiny 2.0

"My poor, beautiful thing."

He might not know a lot about caring for the sick, but he knows a lot about self-care. You will still have a runny nose, but your skin will shine, baby. 

He will pamper you. Have all of the blankets. Sleep for as long as you want. Ask for any food, and he will get it for you. With unlimited snacks, you can even have his favorite chocolates. He will watch all of your comfort shows and movies with you.

Baths, many baths. They are really good when you're sick; they relax your muscles and help the bad energies leave the body.

As soon as you're feeling good, it's his turn to be pampered! So better be prepared.

Beelzebub

If nothing else, you're well fed.

All healthy meals, he won't let you indulge in sweets. Your body needs protein and veggies right now, and he will have them for you at every meal. 

Will cut fruit for you as snack.

Pushes you to do some light exercises when you can. Sweat out the sickness.

He is very supportive, constantly telling you you're going to be okay. He will stay by your side every single minute.

He will carry you around if your muscles are sore.

When you're feeling better, he will make you desert. For the days he has you surviving on steamed broccoli and rice.

Belphegor

This is actually great news.

He gets to cuddle with you all day, and you won't be able to escape. He can even use you as an excuse to take a day off. No work, no school, just napping with his favorite person. Every day should be like that.

If only you didn't have to be sick for it to happen. 

He doesn't know much about taking care of someone. Being the youngest one, everyone else always took care of him. But he doesn't like seeing you hurt, so he will try his best.

The best medicine he can offer you is a good nap in his arms, but he will try some of Satan's medicinal teas. If needed, he will get Lucifer to drive him to the pharmacy. 

He doesn't know a thing about eating healthy, so you will get a diet of chips, pastries, and candy.

If you manage to get better, he will whine about not having your full attention anymore.

Situation: A S/O really good in the kitchen.

Character: Jack Hanma, Jun Guevaru, Kaoru Hanayama and Oliva Biscuit.

Jack Hanma.

Jack will enjoy having an S/O who is good at cooking. He doesn't ask his S/O to cook for him directly, because he knows his appetite is very big.

But we know that in one way or another his S/O will strive to satisfy him, the mere intention is worth a lot to him.

He enjoys strong dishes and meats, any type.

He has a very good sense of taste, is able to feel almost every ingredient used, and will be honest about knowing you can trust him. When he says something tastes great, it tastes great.

Jun Guevaru.

I feel like he likes to play house. Disregard the fact that he is the leader of a sovereign nation and one of three men to be monitored worldwide.

He enjoys the delicious foods from his S/O, although I think he has a little penchant for desserts that play on bitter flavors.

He "sneakily" flaunts his S/O cooking skills to others, it may seem like it's unintentional, but that look on his face says otherwise.

Of course, he washes the dishes.

Kaoru Hanayama.

He appreciates and acknowledges his S/O's cooking skills, whenever he receives or is allowed to eat something that his S/O cooks for him he always thanks and compliments.

His are traditional dishes or elaborate meals. The way he prefers meat is medium.

He will offer to help his S/O if he needs a hand; bring ingredients, stir, knead, cut or whatever is assigned to you. He listens and does things slowly, waits for directions and asks when he doesn't know.

Despite his large size, he is a very good cooking companion. Bonus if they can get him to put on an apron.

Oliva Biscuit.

Having his S/O do something for him with his own hands takes him to cloud nine, he's so happy. He loves the everyday aura that single action brings, just perfect.

He will love whatever he is given; desserts, pastas, main courses, meats, vegetables, soups, whatever you present will be a big yes.

He could eat everything his S/O does without hesitation, he wants to be fed and cared for by his S/O, but he knows that he has a very big appetite, what he hates the most is making his S/O of him overwork.

He'll set the table, wash the dishes, clean the kitchen, and restock the pantry, all of it, he's pretty sure he's the least he can do.

Se ofrecerá a ayudar a su S/O si este necesita una mano; traer ingredientes, revolver, amasar, cortar o cualquier cosa que le asignen. Escucha y hace las cosas despacio, espera indicaciones y pregunta cuando no sabe.

Oliva Biscuit.

El que su S/O haga algo para él con sus propias manos lo lleva a la nube nueve, está tan feliz. Adora el aura cotidiana que trae consigo la sola acción, simplemente perfecto.

Adorará lo que sea que le den; postres, pastas, platos fuertes, carnes, verduras, sopas, lo que sea que le presente será un gran sí.

Podría comer todo lo que su S/O haga sin contemplaciones, quiere ser alimentado y cuidado por su S/O, pero sabe que tiene un apetito muy grande, lo que más odia es hacer que su S/O trabaje de más.

Pondrá la mesa, lavara los platos, limpiara la cocina y reabastecerá la alacena, todo, está completamente seguro de que es lo menos que puede hacer.

Alrighty time for another communism post. So I was thinking about how capitalists LOOOOOVE to bring up "someone will have to do it, are you expecting some kind of paradise where everyone just lazes around? That's unrealistic!" In their minds, us communists are just stupid idiots who don't understand how the world works because OBVIOUSLY there has to be SOMEONE to work, and we CLEARLY didn't consider that, stupid commies that we are. And you know what? I'm pulling uno reverse. I think that the reason why capitalists are so uncomfortable with communism is because they don't actually want to acknowledge the work that has to be done to make a functional society because that would require them to realize that the burger flippers are quite literally an essential part of it that is severely mistreated and underpaid. They know that SOMEONE has to work the grill, chop the veggies, stir the soup, wash the dishes, because not everyone can. But that's the key word. SOMEONE. As long as it's not them they don't have to think about it. And they don't want to. They'd rather be worked to death and not have to think about it than be forced to confront the possibility that they might ever have to do something they don't want to, like flip burgers or help wash a mountain of dishes. Their problem with communism is that they expect it to play out like capitalism. That's why they project all of capitalism's inadequacies onto communism. It's safe to hate. Hating capitalism is risky. And I get it, I really do. Sometimes I wish I could just swallow that little blue pill. But the problem is, I can't. The moment I started to actually interact with the real world was when I saw the cracks. Capitalism is held together with spit and prayers to a God that doesn't really exist: money. What even is money, when you think about it? Nothing more than a gatekeeper. It has no real practical reason to exist, either we can sustain our current population and nothing needs to change, or we can't and changes need to be made. I'm not suggesting genocide, don't misunderstand me. I'm saying that the Republicans love to claim that there's no population problem with their insistence on pushing straight marriage to make more babies and forced birth to make more babies and don't punish rapists so we can make more babies. If that were true, why do we need money? If there's truly enough resources to support an ever growing population like they claim, why do we need money to gatekeep who can and can't eat? And if there aren't enough resources, why the hell are we pushing for commodities like NFTs that waste an obscene amount of real life resources? If there isn't enough food, why are we advocating for structures that keep food out of people's hands until it's half rotten? If there isn't enough food, why do restaurants get away with wasting tons, LITERAL TONS AS IN THOUSANDS OF POUNDS, of food? If there isn't enough food, why does FORTY PERCENT OF IT GO TO WASTE?!? We need to do better. I don't care what name it goes by but until everyone, regardless of race, gender, disability, religion or lack thereof, sexuality, age, mental health, or any other factors, is able to live well without fear of starving, losing their house, losing the job they wish to do, and fear of being unable to escape an abusive situation AT LEAST, we have a lot of work to do.

- Odyn loves helping Mikey cook! Also it's a win because he gets to spend more time with his dad! His favorite things are getting kitchen supplies that are cute looking (he loves nessie the soup ladle).

- Yi's favorite thing is her fanny pack! she got one from Mikey so she could carry her tools around (She gets an actual tool belt growing up but when younger her funky hot pink fanny pack was the best thing ever)

- Moja's favorite thing in the world it's the vinyl player Mikey got her in one of their birthdays. It's a deep cherry red and it always carries a little post it note that says "YI DO NOT TOUCH IT ".

- Uno's favorite thing is his vintage™ nintendo switch lmao.

great question! <- had to sit down and think about this for three hours like he's some random guy i'm speculating things about and not my literal oc i created JSBGJSKDGKSDHSD

so the most important thing to preface with is that he doesn't actually have any super notable dislikes or shit he hates. the reason for this is that he only surrounds himself w people he likes, does things he likes to do, and everything else doesn't even register to him. it's not "if he doesn't like this, he hates it", it's "if he doesn't like this, he doesn't care". he's the sort of person where all of his energy is aimed towards things that benefit him and that's the way he likes to live. doesn't waste his energy on disliking shit because it's counterintuitive to how he wants to live his life.

(ok now moving on!)

i guess first (and somewhat at odds w his occupation) is he doesn't like pain. n you're like "well, juni, a lot of people don't like pain. that's normal, i fear" but then there's people who also don't like it and are simultaneously made miserable when they have to endure it. that's kaien! now in line w how i made him the perfect guy (sorry to perfectoc haters. had to make a perfect guy to show what he'd look like:/) he doesn't actually get injured very often. (not these days at least! it was a different case when he was younger, obvi, but then he also used to cope with it very poorly and unhealthily 👍) but when he does, it sucks. thing is, he deals w chronic migraines bcs of phys trauma, so he actually is in pain pretty often, but then when more pain is added on top of that it becomes overstimulation soup and that's when he becomes #1 miserable guy. doesn't even want to be touched, and he's the ultimate phys contact lover, so you know it's bad.

doesn't like people who throw money at shit. most of his hits are (predictably) on people who have a lot of it to throw around, so he also just knows too much about that branch of people to not dislike them. he's more critical of people who grew up rich, too, but that's a non-issue.

this would be an actual pet peeve/ick, 1 of the rare ones he has, but he doesn't appreciate it when people are flippant about food. this includes everything from wasting food to disrespecting the effort someone put into making food. it's a pretty a sure-fire way of not endearing yourself to him. again, another super normal thing, but it's genuinely one of the few things i could think of 😭

here's a thing that actually pisses him off tho: moral grandstanders! the 'i'm GOOD because i do GOOD and everyone thinks im GOOD and this is the ONLY right way' ppl. i guess this makes sense bcause he's quite literally a merc but it feels so performative to him... why r you telling everyone how good of a person you are and how bad the people who aren't like you are. like who gaf 😒

3rd year of my WIP fandorm Qilin, was the former dorm head until Yanque (2nd year, current dorm head) fought him for the position and won. He’s adopted and raised in a strict family so he’s actually pretty hard-working, he’s just also an arrogant lil shit (lol). I like to think of him as a bit of an honest guy

Calla Megrez

2nd year in Monarchia WNA (Az’s fanschool). I ended up developing her quite a bit in terms of trivia because it was really fun to do a “wild child” character. I also did a Black Clover AU for her because of it (the “wild child” aspect) since hierarchy and social class is a major theme in Black Clover, I thought it would be interesting to see how someone who’s generally rather removed from such social classes (due to being a bit of a societal outcast) would function.

1st year WIP in Kriegskald and based off of Icarus! She’s a child genius who got into WNA early (13) and is basically a lil shit www a very typical ore-sama type character who gets super defensive when criticised but if you praise her it’ll go straight to her head (lol). She just does whatever she wants so she’s always getting in trouble

Clair Moreau

Vice dorm head of Lyrania (my fanschool WOA) and based off of the violin princess from Music Land. He’s canonically shipped with Lula (dorm head and based off of the alto saxophone prince) and is gnc. He’s generally pretty reserved but also a bit of a violin/strings instrument freak (specifically the actual strings. He likes pressing on those). I think I named him after the Clair de Lune?

2nd year based off of Narcissus, originally for Key’s fanschool PSU but like idk what to do with him lol, he’s neighbours with Lauren (WNA girl based off of Echo) and was her first crush but didn’t work out. Since most of his parasocial fans are girls his age, he’s not very good with women. His favourite food is also not disclosed for related reasons. He’s an awkward kid who loves himself much more than others, but you just need a lot of patience and maybe a bit of masochism to get him to open up www

Cosmo Dorado

1st year for Lizz’s fanschool DIE and based off of the Grizzly Gulch in HK Disneyland. He’s a very happy-go-lucky (emphasis on lucky) kid and honestly I almost had Komaeda in mind while I was making him because his talent is luck (except he doesn’t have the luck cycle that Komaeda does, he’s more like Naegi, though I also based him off of Uno from Nanbaka and unintentionally Orias from Iruma). Another problematic kid that does whatever tf he wants, but he looks up to the dorm head :3c

Claude Avenant

Music teacher and residential manipulative hag of NRC based off of Maestro Forte. Formerly a bigshot in classical music but retired and currently teaching as a bit of a hobby. I think I gave him a cane because Maestro Forte as an organ is bolted to the wall, so a human twisted from him would probably have mobility issues? It probably would have made more sense to make him paralysed to some extent but Maestro Forte is basically part of the room he was in because of all the stuff that’s connected so like???? The only thing that moves is his face and keys???? I don’t know man

Sometimes he doesn't feel right being there. His hands feel too big, his legs too long. But when you guide him to the couch, put his head in your lap to play with his hair while humming soothing melodies? He knows in what's left of his soul he came back for this. For you.

If he remembered how to cry he would when you clean the blood from his hands, so gentle and careful like you're afraid he'll break. He doesn't understand why you do that. He's the one that breaks things. Not you. Never you.

That's why when Black Mask gets his hands on you, he sees red. Black Mask, his henchman, don't understand what they have, what you are to him. They don't know that you're not to be touched, not to be bothered or harmed or frightened. How could they? He was so careful. But it's so easy to be in the wrong place at the wrong time in Gotham. To step into the wrong store. Walk on the wrong street. Become an innocent victim in a game you didn't even know was being played.

He doesn't really remember what happens between finding out you were gone to the next moment you have your arms around him. He knows he felt the crunching of bones beneath his hands, the heat of blood not his own seep into his armor and gloves.

He thinks he might be crying behind his mask. But you're here. And you're safe. You're tracing lines up and down his back. Telling him that it's okay. He's okay. You're okay.

You're surrounded by bodies. He's not sure if they're knocked out or dead. He knows he needs to get you out of here, bring you back to the apartment you share. Beg you not to go and not to be afraid of him.

But he just needs one more moment. One more minute in the comfort of your touch. Just one more second in warmth you always bring, in the only light he knows.

Dia de muerte pan

(Day of the dead bread)

We went to a school for children with autism this week. I was so touched by the directors of the school. One of the directors had a son with autism and started the school about 15 years ago, and since then many, many children and families have benefited from it. The APAC story that I posted last week was also started by two mothers who had a children with cerebral palsy. It is incredible what the love of a parent can bring to life in a community.

We were invited to this school because the church bought supplies for the kitchen, so the youth could have a way of making money to help support the school. The church bought them an oven with many baking racks, a cooler, and an industrial size mixer. The directors were so grateful for the help. 

Notice on the picture how they make bones in a cross on the bread. I don’t really like the bread here in Mexico, but the dia de muerte pan is delicioso.

On Wednesday, when we went to the MTC, I saw this district taking pictures. They were so cute all dressed in pink. One of the missionaries said he has a whole collection of pink ties, so most of them borrowed one of his ties. They were quite excited when they saw my camera, instead of an iPhone camera.

I finished up 4 of the “Cada uno Tiene una Historia” for the area Facebook page. Two of them were service missionaries, and their stories are so sweet. The one missionary, Elder Salazar, is a missionary I have been working with since the first of the year. He said, “My childhood dream has always been to be a missionary. When they told me that I needed to return home. I thought it was over, that all my dreams were over. “ But President Castañeda offered him the opportunity to be a service missionary. He didn’t now what a service missionary was. He has now been serving 7 months and it has been the best 7 months of his life.

He told how right before he received his mission call his abuela (grandmother) died. She is the reason he is active in the church, she was a great example of service for him. He said, ‘Every time I can do something or give a little service, I remember two people. One is Jesus Christ, who served his people and the other person I remember is my grandmother. She never said no, she was always willing to help others.’ I wasn’t sure what he was saying when I filmed him, but when I got home and translated it, I was pretty teary. He is a sweet young man.

The other service missionary I finished up is a Sister Arias. She was sent home from her mission because of illness, and really had to be encouraged to serve a service mission.  In her interview she said, “I have the opportunity to serve in a community soup kitchen in my neighborhood, where I live and they make me very happy as people have the opportunity to eat or have a meal at a very low price. It really is nothing and I see those people so happy to live together. They may not have a lot of money, but I see the love of Jesus Christ in each one of them.” She is a lovely young lady, her mission is almost done and I will miss her very much.

The gospel truly blesses people’s lives. I have felt such a peace and direction each day in my life. I love working with people here, I look forward to each week and the opportunity I have to and learn from the new people I meet.

On Ash (again)

Hey-so there's stuff going on with Ash again. She's said some racist against Asian COVID related things and the R slur on Discord(This is all stuff from 2018-June 2020). I was going to make a post about it but quite frankly, I got five hours of sleep last night and I don't have the mental capacity nor do I feel like, as a white woman, do I feel like I should try to explain it. I'm going to link the Twitter thread.

She also just did a livestream giving her side of things. I couldn't watch it due to having a session with my therapist at the same time(And my therapist kept mentioning how tired I was) but Twitter made it sound like it was a lot of excuses but that the protests one was anti masker protests.

Like my last On Ash post, I'm going to do a read more for my thoughts.

I'm disappointed in Ash making the Chinese/Asian virus jokes. Like, thinking back to February of last year, on of my biggest worries was that I had a long standing crush on a former professor whose family lived in South Korea(We stayed friendly after our class ended well over a year before then, I saw him on school breaks, long story but we still plan to see each other once it's safe) and since SK was one of the first places hit outside China, was his family okay? Were his in-laws? And Asian people around the globe were facing racism which was so beyond frustrating but I don't wanna dig up bad memories and possibly triggers for people and obviously, at the time, my heart focused on the guy I adored and his family.

And she was joking about bat virus soup and encouraging people saying "corona boy." I get that bats don't look appetizing and I agree entirely but that's when you don't say anything and respect people's culture. I think we've all done it. Especially at a sensitive time like that, you don't joke about that. I'm thinking back to me at that time and imagining someone joking about COVID and it seems crazy. I mean, I was naïve(Edited, the original word was ignorant but that has a negative connotation while I think very few of us had any idea how badly COVID was going to be in the west back in February) and wasn't seriously thinking it was going to hit the US as badly as it did but between Prof C and Kpop, I was thinking and worrying about it to some degree on a daily basis compared to a lot of Americans while she was joking about it and it's just... Have some tact, I think???

(I'm also hesitant to judge the first screenshot because out of context, for all I know she literally had Chinese food and then it didn't sit right in her stomach, like in a food poisoning way and I wouldn't put it past Twitter to twist things against Ash but that's just me).

I won't address the protest thing without seeing her explanation. Her police comment was... Naïve, is how I took it personally. The R slur was completely out of line, and there's no defending it.

However, like last time, as long as Corpse, Sykkuno, and friends keep supporting her, I'll keep supporting her. I'm horrible for that, I think, but that's the truth. I'm going to keep her off this blog for a bit I think, other than maybe a Corpse and Ash post I wanted to make while watching the VOD. Otherwise, I'm going to keep Ash to a very low minimum.

But no, I'm disappointed. I really am. I'm just exhausted and I feel like I don't have the right words to express it. I know my response is probably lukewarm and very white but this is where I'm at. Now I'm just going to go and wait for Uno.

Poetry Lessons

Christian asks Cyrano for help with his poetry class. It goes about as well as you might expect.

Cyrano de Bergerac is a man of many talents; a fencer and a fighter, a polemicist and a poet. It's why De Guiche hates him so much, why he's always on the verge of being kicked out of uni, and why he's never going to be. He's both a genius and a good friend, which is why Christian asked him to tutor him in the first place.

And it's not that Christian regrets it, exactly - he's always happy to spend time with Cyrano, and since he and Roxane have been dating they haven't seen each other nearly so much - but -

"You can stop laughing," Christian says, wearily. "Really, any time."

Roxane takes a deep breath, draws herself up from where she's been flailing like an overturned beetle in the depths of their armchair - Roxane claims it's skip-liberated but Christian has been in Chancellor Richelieu's office more than once and the style is suspiciously familiar - rearranges her expression into one of grave interest, meets Christian's eyes - and immediately bursts out laughing again.

The corner of his mouth twitches up, just a little. It's hard not to laugh when Roxane is laughing, it's one of the things he loves about her.

"To be fair, I did warn you," Roxane gasps eventually, wiping her eyes.

"I thought you were joking!" Christian says, throwing up his hands and leaning back on his desk in despair.

"Why?" Roxane asks, propping herself up with her elbow on the arm of the chair, perfect pointy chin in hand. "I'm genuinely curious."

"Cyrano? Bad at something?" Christian says, incredulous. "Of course I thought you were having me on."

"He can't cook," Roxane points out.

"He can," Christian protests. "It's...food."

"Is it?" Roxane asks, rhetorically.

"Yes," Christian says, loyally, though sometimes he wonders. He's not...picky about food, the way Roxane seems to be. And the only times Cyrano has cooked for him he's been in a pretty bad way, so maybe he wouldn't have noticed? Mostly what Christian remembers is being surprised. And pleased, but shyly, because at the time he hadn't been sure if they were really friends, and surely you didn't make "sorry your life is a shambles, post-meltdown recovery pancakes" for people you were vaguely aware of in passing? Cyrano's generous, Christian knows, but he's hardly a saint.

He'd only had to pick a very little eggshell out of his teeth.

"He can't drive," Roxane continues, dragging Christian's attention back into the present.

"Nobody's every been killed," Christian says, because he can't actually refute that.

"And," Roxane says, with the air of somebody laying down the last +4 in the Uno game, "he never knows when to shut up."

"Untrue," Christian says, and when Roxane opens her mouth to provide an itemized list starting from the day she hit Cyrano over the head with a plastic trowel in the nursery school sandpit and gained a friend for life to the last five minutes, "he absolutely does know, he just chooses not to."

Roxane opens her mouth.

She closes her mouth.

She opens her mouth, and raises a finger.

"Well, you got me there," she says, and Christian bows, laughing.

"Thank you, thank you," he says, "I'm here all week."

Roxane shoves him, lightly, and resettles in the arm-chair, head over one arm and legs over the other, feet kicking idly in the air.

"You know, I asked him if he could help me with algebra once, this must have been, god, like Year Nine, or something? I don't remember. Anyway, he went off on a tangent about infinite bean soup and then asked me if I thought seven was a fundamentally angry number."

Christian considers this. "It's not angry," he says, after a minute. "It's -"

"Green, right?" Roxane says, nodding.

"-orange, obviously," he finishes. "Huh."

They contemplate this in baffled silence for a moment.

"Anyway," Roxane says.

"I just wanted to know how metre worked," Christian opines, staring at nothing. "Just, the too long, didn't read, nothing involved. Spark Notes. Nothing Professor Castel-Jaloux said made sense to me."

"And?" Roxane asks.

"He made up a villanelle about Castel-Jaloux's moustache on the spot, then asked me if I wanted cream cakes."

"And did you?" Roxane asks, lips twitching.

"Of course I wanted cream cakes," Christian sighs. "We were at Ragueneau's, and I was alive, QED."

"Shit," says Roxane, "now I want cream cakes."

"Ragueneau's later?"

"God yes."

They let the conversation lapse a while, Christian checking his uni emails from his phone on a whim, Roxane seemingly content to relax back into her contraband armchair, sun on her face and heels tapping on the cracked leather. He's got a text from Cyrano, and he's grinning before he realises it, so wide his cheeks nearly ache with it.

"You know," Roxane says, and Christian looks up to find she's watching him, thoughtful and knowing in a way that makes him nervous. Mostly, he has to admit, in a good way. "You can just tell him you don't need tutoring any more. He won't mind."

"But," Christian protests, mouth running before his brain has a chance to catch up, "he gets so enthusiastic! His whole face lights up and he starts talking with his hands, more than normal, I mean. I can't understand a word of it but it's so clear that he knows what he's talking about and that he loves it, and we don't hang out all that much any more and I just, I missed it, I think, and um - what?"

A slow, delighted smile is spreading across his girlfriend's face. Christian flushes. She'd smiled like that the first time he managed to ask her out, rather than blushing and tripping over his own feet when she asked him.

That said, she'd also smiled like that right before she broke into De Guiche's fancy off-campus flat and put treacle in all of his hand-made Italian shoes. So, uh. Mixed signals, there?

"What?" he says again, flustered.

"Oh, nothing, nothing," Roxane says, still smiling like the cat that got the all-access pass to the canary convention.

Christian squints at her, but she just blinks at him innocently and scoops up her book from where she'd draped it open on the corner of his desk.

"OK," he says, slowly. "Sure."

They settle back into studious silence, Christian chewing on the end of his biro as he wills his poetry assignment to make sense, Roxane dragging a highlighter violently through the library book, because she fears neither God nor librarians.

Christian starts to relax. Idly he wonders if he's going to get some delightful surprise later. Or if De Guiche is going to get an awful one. Either way, he's excited to find out.

Then: "how do you feel about polyamory?"

Alright, maybe it's both.

I was curious, can you talk about some taejin moments that you often see as "proof" from others but you think are overrated/wrongly seen as taejin moments? I can give you one example in my book, at least. That interview with bts when tae has to say what he likes about jin, he uses the word "my" by mistake, it's just his non-english speaker self getting confused. Also, rm looks at hobi but not because of tj, but because he is wondering what he likes about hobi and what he will say as response.

That’s a good point to mention. For me, I personally think the moment Park Bogum met BTS in their waiting room after their concert was over doesn’t carry much significance. Park Bogum is close to Tae, yes, and they’re open about it. Jeju island trip, flower field selcas and all. However Jin himself is pretty close to him as well, evidenced by the Big Bang concert that the trio went to see together in private. Taehyung’s awkward reactions to me seems like he did not really expect his two separate groups of friends to meet without warning. And Bogum was there more as a BTS fan than Tae’s friend. (Although I emphasise this is just my point of view, I don’t know how close the three of them really are and I may be wrong in my observations during that moment.)

Now, I’ll have to disagree with your example. They’re all not native english speakers, however to think that they cannot differentiate between “my”, “yours”, “I” and “you” would be severely undermining their language abilities. Especially considering they’ve been listening to Namjoon speak english, listened to and sang countless english songs, memorising speech for concert ments and adapting to english interviews for years. There’s so many examples, in the 2017 Ellen Show Me More interview all of them spoke english without problems.  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsR4Ucg1Rq0) In fact, all of their US interviews where it’s all basically in english. Additionally, the interviewer used hand gestures while speaking to them, and even started with himself as an example of ‘what do you like about the person next to you?’ (The interview you referred to was in 2018) They may have practiced beforehand but they would definitely have understood what they said. All the more eliminating the possibility of them getting confused about basic english words. 

If they were truly confused, they either did not know the word or the word is long and difficult. For example when Taehyung said “colour-changing soup” instead of hair dye and Jungkook’s “trusfrated” instead of frustrated. 

To further support my answer, I’ll have to point out each and every single member’s reactions. Let’s say, yes, Namjoon looked at J-Hope to think of what he would say next, what about Jimin, Jungkook and Yoongi? 

Yoongi was all smiling and looking at the interviewer and the moment he heard “I love MY…” he immediately switched to hawkeyes and stared at Taehyung. Jungkook froze, stared at him as well. Jimin was the only sassy one, although both repeated “MY?” loudly as a reminder for Taehyung to quickly correct himself. There was urgency in their voices, it does not tell me it’s a simple and cute english mistake. 

Same thing happened here when they started flirting right smack in the middle of the interview. Again, Namjoon and Hoseok exchange glances in full alert mode, and it’s no coincidence.

Editing this post just to add in this moment as part of the reason why I think it’s just not likely that Taehyung got confused about the question: 

Taehyung changing the lyrics from ‘Please give me a remedy’ to ‘You could be my remedy’ just to serenade Jin during their fansign. He’s fully aware and understands the lyrics and what it means, deliberately sang it to him in public anyway. 

He gets confused about games and UNO, he may sometimes stutter while speaking or emcee-ing but otherwise has a good command of basic english.
