I’m back on my bleach shit and making it everyone else’s problem

Imagine the role reversal tho, Ik someone, probably a lot of someone’s, have thought of this but here’s my take

Rukia in Ichigo’s position and him in hers, sort of

He’s still a sort of weird amalgamation situation, only in this version some how some way he and his family and end up living/growing up in the soul society

And maybe in this universe Isshin is still a soul reaper, and he gets sent on a mission to take care of a particularly troublesome hollow in the world of the living, and he’s the one who dies, not Masaki

So Ichigo ends up being raised by his mom in the soul society, so he becomes a soul reaper just like his dad, and so do Karin and Yuzu

Ichigo gets sent to Karakura, and how weird is it that that’s where his first mission is, where his dad died, where his mom lost her Quincy powers sort of, where everything that led up to his life happened

And he meets Rukia, the strange human girl who was adopted by her sister (who she will later learn was a soul reaper) husband, so now he’s her big brother, and their still rich and proper and everything, and perhaps the reason she’s so strange and seeing ghosts and nonsense is because Aizen still put the hogyoku inside her

And Ichigo stabs her and it reacts similarly at first, triggering soul reaper powers and leading to a lot of nonsense

And I haven’t really gotten much farther than that, though I want to imagine that in this version tatsuki is a soul reaper, maybe squad two, maybe eleven, and most of the other characters roles stay the same, and the plot stays mostly the same, same arcs and battles and Aizen’s still an evil conniving bastard, but everything sort of changes cause rukias our main character now

And I like to imagine that Karin and yuzu are just running around causing chaos most of the time

And Ichigo is still a visored, though his figuring that out goes a bit differently and the training for it changes, him electing to ditch soul society and his duties for a few months to train

And Karin and yuzu probably follow for chaos purposes, and now the Visoreds get a weird little brother and two little chaos sisters

I legitimately have no idea of how the story would still happen, this is just the vibes, imagine human byakuya and Rukia versus soul reaper kurosaki/shiba family

Some of these were canon, some of these were just random shit from my fic that i might never write

ichigo grows up beautiful. of course, kisuke doesn't see it for himself, careful to stay away after aizen. after isshin's request that his son be allowed to finish growing up in peace. but chad and orihime still drop by, and while they're only in the periphery of ichigo's life, they have the added advantage of having contacts who've remained close with the ex-substitute soul reaper.

so they've seen photographs - arisawa tatsuki and ichigo smiling towards the camera. a red-haired girl wearing glasses with her arm linked with ichigo's, sticking her tongue out at someone off frame. a group photo that includes ichigo, arisawa and the red head alongside a mousy brunette and a leggy, dark haired girl, as well as the two boys ichigo had always hung out with, standing in front of a giant waterfall.

in all of them ichigo shines like a tiny sun, blinding and beautiful.

so maybe it shouldn't have come as a shock when orihime comes by one day, worried about a man she sees following ichigo. soul society never did send anyone more competent to karakura after ichigo was... unable to continue with his duties. kisuke has had to konso a lot of spirits since then.

what does come as a shock is realising that the man following ichigo isn't a spirit, attracted by the gentle light of ichigo's soul. it's a man, attracted by something more physical, and with much darker intentions.

and ichigo is strong - if the man ever tried anything, kisuke is sure ichigo could send this man to the hospital with no problem -

but something protective and urgent burns inside the body kisuke had painstakingly built himself, seeing the vile things the man wants to do to ichigo. the man's soul is dark and festering, and kisuke doesn't want it near ichigo, even if it's just to kick the living daylights out of him.

and it's different to kill a living being. messier. heavier. the blood and viscera more than just a symbol of spiritual destruction.

but the way kisuke shrugs it off feels the same.

he breathes out, is almost done arranging himself back into friendly shop keeper when a voice calls out -

"i could've handled him, you know."

he smiles. "you would deny me the chance to save a damsel in distress? how cruel of you, kurosaki-kun."

then kisuke turns around to bask in the sun.

From what I’m getting, Orihime vol 3 poem tells us she has always been search for connecting to others despite how different their worlds are. She managed to do that with her hollowfied brother, Tatsuki (a tomboyish girl who gets along with the girly-girly hime), Rukia(a soul reaper but also the same person who Orihime envies on her relationship with Ichigo like hime even hates herself for it that she feels envious because she really likes Rukia as her friend, and ofc there’s Ichigo (which obviously vol 3 poem is talking about but like this fucking dude just keep blows her off when hime’s trying rlly hard to connect with him and IAKDJFIDI)

BUT I think one of her pinnacle moments of Orihime connecting such vastly different worlds was with Ulquiorra AND is more relevant to him for her vol 3 poem (when it was “supposedly” for Ichigo).

even during some of his worst moments and rage amps his one thing is he helps his friends

The Fullbring Beginning's

This is my first chapter to the continuing story of FullBringers In Town

She started off as a friend of Tatsuki's.

Ichigo's eyes were slow to lay upon the contrasting new student as he passed into the threshold of his morning classroom, barely here for even a week, and already Tatsuki had snatched this stranger away from their mysterious perch and into her divided friend group. Contrasting against Arisawa's black hair and Orihime's tanned skin she seemed to radiate, her skin white and hair reflecting the same glowing color back at the hanging sun, burning in jealous fury at her yellow layers. 

Sitting down at his desk with the same furrow, Ichigo's right ear twitched as Tatsuki laughed boisterously while the surrounding group fell into a giggling mess, slapping a nearby table at her new friend's jokes and he sighed at the early morning ruckus "Man Uriel, you sure are somethin' else!" One of the girls chuckled with a hand on her giggling shoulder. 

Uriel, what a strange name 'Who would name their kid Uriel?' the teen thought, cheek in hand as Ichigo watched the clouds pass by his town without any worry for things like school and stalking Soul Reapers. 

Golden eyes watched the brooding ginger from a further row until others warned of a teacher's footsteps growing nearby and the children scattered for their seating. Tatsuki waved for her new desk neighbor's attention before morning protocol began "Were you just staring at Ichigo?" she whispered. 

The bright blonde hid her speaking mouth with a covering fist, quietly mouthing the words 'Who?' and Tatsuki pointed a thumb at a nearby seat where a handsome mopy ginger disappeared through the first few minutes of his day. Pale cheeks grew warm at the question, waving an unconvincing hand Uriel attempted to hide the growing hue with a quiet snort "No" she whispered. 

Although Ichigo wasn't very present mentally at school, he was rapidly becoming physically present elsewhere as his life was turned upside down by the invasion of Rukia Kutchki and her stupid supernatural existence! Soon, Hollow hunting became a part of his day-to-day system and Rukia slowly learned the way of the high school girl. 

In her last days of being a normal young lady Rukia was ushered into a group lunch with most of the girls in her class, they all sat comfortably in the warm afternoon air and one certain curly-haired character asked the one question that had been on their minds since the Short Queen had arrived "So hey, do you have a crush on Ichigo?" 

Thus an eruption of milk and rainbows filled the air, everyone giggling at the reaction but Rukia was quick to assure that she and the lean teen were merely friends and she didn't see a future development like that, and Orihime erupted with excitement, a hand grabbing and shaking her nearby companion claiming that their chances of dating the infamous ginger just doubled and the surrounding bodies laughed at her cherry skin "I-I haven't even met the guy" she raised her brows with a sweat on her cheek "I just think he's.. really... handsome, y'know" Uriels voice cracked at the tail end of her confession and the others groaned around her "Every time with this one" 

A bright grin split across her face as she picked up a nearby fizzy drink "I'm just saying, physically- he's totally my type" the blonde shrugged, eyes rolling around her "And I'm perfectly comfortable never speaking to my attractive classmate" 

"I'll get you two to talk one of these days!" Tatsuki attacked from behind and the pair collapsed into a wrestling match. 

Ichigo gazed at his calloused hand, the hand that failed to protect. 

Memories of Chad's shredded arm and an absolute beatdown enacted by one of Aizen's stupid Hollow warriors flashed through his swollen head meat, a shooting pain stabbed through his flinching eye and the boy failed to hold back a grunt. 

"Uh....hey" came an uncertain tone from the side, turning with a narrow gaze to the footlocker next to him where burning golden eyes stared from the hanging metal door, flickering at the Kurosaki's plain gaze "You uhhhhh.. okay?" 

Quick to shove away his school shoes the young male couldn't bear any more talks today, everyone had already mentioned how different he was acting and the bandages did not help the mysteriousness of it all. The girl twitched behind her locker door attempting to murmur out some sort of sentence, unsure how to act around a wounded Ichigo but he answered over her fumblings "Yeah, I'm fine" 

"Wait- hold up!" 

Her tone snapped for the ginger's attention, which she gained and Uriel's heart punched at her ribcage as Ichigo's heavy gaze mulled over his shoulder "I.. didn't see you eat any lunch today" 

"Huh? What you stalkin' me or somethin'" Ichigo held his bag over his shoulder with every ounce of the persona he had left, just because he sucked right now didn't mean he had to stop acting cool for his image, admittedly masking grumpier than usual but instead of a reply a banana was tossed at his bandaged temple "Ow, what the hell's your problem!" he held the fruit at the bright girl accusingly where her scrunched features turned away to put on her own shoes "Problem? Seems like you're the only one with a problem right now" Uriel grumbled to herself but the Substitute Reaper's ears twitched at her quiet voice, and all he could do was growl at his obvious pathetic state.  

Tight shoulders fell at his inner monologue, can't protect the people he cares about, and can't clap back to a snide observation. He was really on a loser roll today, a sigh brought him back from the brink of his own mind "Whatever" she groaned to the empty air with an embarrassed flush, speeding past the frozen ginger without another word shared. 

'I should just keep to admiring from afar' 

Uriel scribbled in her notebook, copying homework at the time when she needed it most. Just before class began. 

A thump divided her concentration and a strange wrinkling noise was dropped into her lead-smudged pages, honey-yellow orbs blinked at the wrapped banana bread product, a grey uniform unblurring as she raised her vision higher and there Ichigo stood in all his orange glory with furrowed brows and crossed arms "There, now I don't owe you anything" 

Spinning to leave his good deed for the day, the moron couldn't even make it a handful of steps closer to his own seat before a soft crunch came from the back of his head. Turning to find the gifted banana bread at his heels.

Spiking his hazel gaze at a casual and writing Uriel, as if she had never been interrupted in the first place, the young Kurosaki snatched the treat from the floorboards below with a stiff march back to her desk and shoved the bought goods to sit between the dip of her pages. 

The sitting body sighed at the inconvenience of it all "I dont like Banana Bread" Uriel slid the sealed bun back and asked for peace "Try again tomorrow, I gotta get this homework done" 

Ichigo held his gift with a fussy groan but he knew the importance of late homework, having much of it himself and so the banana bread was taken back for his snacky feelings later in the day. 

Rain blessed the Town of Karakura in gentle cold kisses despite today's forecast promising nothing but sunny skies, yet Ichigo couldn't really gather the energy to care about his soaking clothes as he lay in the soggy grass. With both every care he had ever had bubbling in his beating chest and an empty brain, he couldn't stand thinking about it anymore but it was hard to not wander away from the dreary scenery before him. Though the ginger attempted to bask in the freedom of being at the end of his Soul Reaper career, the thought never crossed his mind that it would be this hard to stop caring about it all, until now but.. this is what he wanted this, right? No ghosts or scary creatures, living each day the same until the young Kurosaki's mind would once again sink with all his heaviest thoughts. 

A red umbrella was held above the male's metaphorically drowning head, sparse droplets now only attacking his spread legs. 

Peachy eyelids flickered open at the change of color and Ichigos' narrowed orbs rolled at the reveal, leaning weight on his elbow Ichigo raised his body to sit upright "Oh, it's you"

A smaller body sat on the slanted hill and a plastic bag crinkled at its impact "Yeah, it's me"

The pair kept quiet, watching the rippling tide of the river nestled in the dip of the valley. Ichigo's peaceful view was ruined by a crackle and bubble by his side, irritated eyes slid to see Uriel sipping at a milk carton with a sandwich in hand, her widened eyes glanced between the snack and the boy once she noticed his watching, her pinching lips not letting up their sucking action until the straw burst from the pressure. 

"Yoooou uh... want some?" Uriel gestured down at the filled branded supermarket bag, Ichigo went to say no- he did but the allure of a half-eaten tuna sandwich was almost too much for his empty gargling stomach to pass up, and the breaded snack was handed over with a snort. 

The two sat in their strange silence as they hid from the busy world below a nylon brolly despite the rain ending and the sun slowly spilling through dividing clouds. Uriel glanced at Ichigo's long hands, promising it would be the last till she noticed how much thicker his wrists were compared to hers. Eyes back at the racing river, and then moving for another steal at his perfect features but this time she forgot to look away "You want something?" 

'You're so pretty' she wanted to blur, but the smaller of the two could already feel the shame spreading through her curled body "Would you um- do you, if you'd like to.. want to.. hang out or-or whatever" Uriel prayed to all the angels that she would be able to make her next sentence coherent, she could see the stuttered question roll through his thoughts until heavy eyes glanced at the mushy grass below "Sorry but, I better get going I.. promised my sister I'd be home in time for dinner this time and I'm already late" 

"Oh.. pft yeah, sure no prob Bob" A waving hand scattered as the ginger stood to leave but still, her offer seemed sincere, weird but sincere. Another foot dragged him closer to the concrete path but he stopped and turned to give a half-hearted smile at the shrunken Uriel "Thanks though" and he left, a white owl-eyed teen left behind with a skip in her heartbeat as they both waved with a promised 'See ya' 

Uriel's wave grew slower as Ichigo's body became smaller, the details of his body growing blurry until he eventually vanished over the green hill with one more final wave at the red umbrella "See you" her quiet words trickled from a dry throat.

Death Save Me From Light Novels

Wow, the title of this thing is kinda morbid when you put it that way, huh? Anyhow this is actually the best of the light novels I’ve covered so far, but it’s still highly inessential and the joke was too easy for me to pass up. Review under the cut.

The Death Save The Strawberry is the best of the Bleach novels so far because it actually has a point. Unlike the previous two, which told stories of “what everybody in the cast ate for dinner one night” and “what if there was a major crisis that didn’t affect anybody we cared about”, this book tells a story you might have some interest in: how did Rukia get ahold of that sword that she uses to give Ichigo his powers back? It’s not an essential story, obviously the manga worked fine without telling you all the details, but they’re here if you want them.

The first part of the book is clearly the best, because it’s full of little tidbits about the cast that bring more depth to the people we care about. Orihime got her bakery job, for example, because she was so effusive in her love of their products that they actually noticed a difference in their business! Uryu got his student council president position because Mizuho Asano thought he “looked like a president”, which is pretty funny. Chad apparently only started boxing after the winter war, because he was so bummed about how he got sidelined (and Tatsuki is apparently doing the same thing, which hurts me personally).

 Anyhow, Orihime notices that Ichigo’s down, so she uses a spirit phone that Unohana gave her (would have loved to know the story there...) and calls Rukia, who goes to Urahara for help, who takes a whole year to create the energy transfer sword. And this is the most interesting part of the book for me, because Urahara outright states that he needed/wanted to use Engetsu, Isshin’s sword, to make it, but Isshin was reluctant to help, and only agreed after Uryu got attacked.

That’s fascinating to me. There was a sort of underexplored undercurrent to the Fullbringer Arc where Ichigo felt a little suspicious of his father, and it’s actually borne out here! Isshin really was not enthusiastic about Ichigo getting back into the Soul Reaper life! It took Uryu getting attacked for him to realize that even if he didn’t make it easier for Ichigo to find trouble, trouble could still find him on its own. After all, Uryu has his own superpowered dad-- but Ryuken couldn’t stop whoever it was who attacked his own son, and wound up sitting by his hospital bed instead. This is something I wish had been a little more developed in the main story, because it really makes the themes of maturity and growing up resonate, showing that preparing your child to explore the world is oftentimes the best way to protect them in it.

(Isshin also directly compares Ichigo’s inability to protect Uryu due to his lack of powers to the position that he, Isshin, was in when Masaki was killed. Have fun with that one, shippers!)

Urahara gives Rukia a fetch quest to get “everybody’s” spiritual pressures to put in the sword. The rest of the book is then just Rukia running to everybody you would expect, getting them to give their spiritual pressure. The only funny things to note are that Zaraki makes everybody from Squad 11 put their spiritual pressures in, which would seem to undercut the heartwarming “all my friends” moment from Ichigo’s re-empowerment. There’s a silly subplot about this maybe being illegal but if you’ve read the manga you know Yamamoto eventually signs off on it. But we do get a moment where Momo quotes Captain Aizen to justify her breaking the law, which, uh…you might still have some things to work on there, my dear.

And then, with the light novel caught up to the manga, it abruptly ends without a conclusion. No, seriously, once Yama says it’s all okay (something the manga showed in flashback) the story just ends. No explanation of why Rukia shows up before the rest of the Rescue Ichigo team.

Anyhow this is a fine book if you want more details about what was happening to people that weren’t Ichigo during the Lost Agent Arc. We return to regular programming with the Thousand-Year Blood War tomorrow.

I was going on a reread on some of my favorite chapters in Bleach while waiting for new episodes of The Blood War Arc and I realized something... I kinda miss seeing Ichigo dealing with these delinquents that pick fights with him for petty shit.

It's kinda silly, but I liked the gags of how short tempered these dummies can get. Ichigo gets to basically shit talk and hold a conversation with these guys and I just get the giggles.

I actually kinda wonder how a scene of Orihime dealing with the delinquents would play out before Ichigo gets there, or even if they show up when it's just Ichigo and Orihime hanging out. (Mayhaps on that promised walk home Ichigo would offer sometimes LOL)

Realistically it might be an Ichigo solo vs the horde when he gets involved, but I'd like to think that Orihime would get involved in the fight. She did knock out a pair of soul reapers and robbed their uniforms one time and she was even willing to throw down with Tsukoshima and Sushi Guy. (I know the other two were Fullbringers but like, the way they approached her had an initial "civilian threatening" vibes at first. Like "steal your shit" kind of threat, but still)

(would she even tried to fight normal humans that are trying to mug her or would she just use her Shun Shun Rikka to "levitate" away? It freaked them out but it's less violent than punching a thug in the face. OMFG. T posing Orihime flying at her human foes is sending me lokgdnjsnhkcwruld)

it's pretty hilarious to watch ichigo dealing with human "tough guys" yeah XD he gets so fed up.

idk that i want to think in depth about hime dealing with thugs alone because 1. she canonically will always try to make peace and appease first and would rather feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe than physically injure someone, and 2. she canonically has plenty of stalker-adjacent "admirers". and she might strongly want to keep the maskerade up and not reveal her powers because it might endanger other people, so sure she can do karate, Tatsuki said she was good even, but her main way of dealing with aggressive people in this situation would be to appease and deflect, and maybe if thinks look like they're going in a bad direction she can't affect look for an occasion to trip them up and run away. Orihime COULD flatten them, but unless they're trying to knife someone she would not. And even then she might just decide to put them in a shield box and wait for Urahara to drop by with a forget pez thinger.

Honestly it makes me uncomfortable to think about her just laughing nervously as some assholes think they've got her cornered. I want someone to write a bleach AU where Ichigo meets Rukia in his early twenties when he's a stressed out college student trying to figure out what he want to do with his life after trying to go down a medical route and not liking it but not knowing what else to do (I'm projecting so hard but we're ignoring that)

The chaotic potential of Ichigo going through his classes and having to run out randomly to deal with a hollow, of rukia attending his classes with him without formally being a student, of the chaos Kon would create

Give me architecture student Orihime that he occasionnaly talks to because of mutual friends like Tatsuki. Give me fashion design student Ishida that Ichigo doesn't recognize because he never bothered to know his classmates beyond a few here and there and Ishida definitely wasn't one of them.

Give me vet student Chad that has like three cats in his and Ichigo's shared dorm that are definitely not supposed to be there but Ichigo loves them. Rukia absolutely loves them as well.

unhinged ichigo fighting hollows the same way he used to fight those gang members in high school because he wants the adrenaline rush. He would probably get on with Shiro a little better too XD.

Ichigo, who started seeing hollows when he was like sixteen after being attacked by them. Ichigo, who has a weird little power that he doesn't quite know how to use that looks like this weird fullbring thing except without the pass so it's more of like a quincy arrow just not the usual blue colour. It's not really powerful enought to fully take out a hollow cause he doesn't know how to control it but it protects him long enough to get away

It's an interesting idea, to have him see hollows but not be strong enough to fight them the way he usually does for a long time until Rukia comes along. His attitude towards the whole thing would be a little different as well.

Also having spiritually aware Inoue, Chad, and Tatsuki but the former two don't have their powers because they haven't been fully exposed to Ichigo's leaking reiatsu when he gets his soul reaper powers.

Having Tatsuki be closer to Ichigo because of this is a nice touch too, cause now the two of them can both see spirits and Ichigo doesn't quite feel as lonely as he used. The two of them having a rekindled friendship makes me happy for some reason and idk, her just teasing Inoue for having a crush on him and like, plotting to get them together with some help from Rukia when she arrives because she likes to tease Ichigo about Orihime all the time

Oh, and her having a water style fullbring that she incorporates into her martial arts and creates something like Fishman Karate from One piece would be super cool too. She just gives me water vibes for some reason

Also, Ichigo not being teen makes him far less susceptible to manipulation from the adults in his life, more mature, and probably less forgiving— that last part is because I want Ichigo to punch Urahara for what he did to Rukia in the SS arc because I sort of hate that he was forgiven so easily like Rukia didn’t even seem to care???

That makes me so angry for some reason. Like I like Urahara’s character but it doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s a shady shit. I feel like older Ichigo would be less tolerant of his antics than teen Ichigo

Idk, it just seems like such a funny idea to me-- chaotic substitute soul reaper Ichigo + College stress and the existential crisis of trying to figure out what the fuck you wanna do with your life = hilarity

- She works out so intensely that Orihime tried to do it with her and passed out within the first ten minutes.

2 AM, Saturday.

         ‎‎‎‎‎She can't sleep. Of course she can't; she's been listening to ghosts FLIRT on and off since nine o'clock. Why can't they just go someplace else? Had half a mind to yell at them to clear out, but that would've made it worse. It didn't help that it was so quiet now. The silence let her think, reflect, and - as a direct result - brought dark thoughts into her head. Memories of that night at Orihime's, when she and Orihime both were almost killed by Orihime's brother. Remembering Ichigo, when his mom died; seeing him pacing along the riverside, as if searching. Reflecting on just how much she'd been through in recent weeks.

         ‎‎‎‎‎At least Urahara had helped. That Kanonji guy, though...she could use a break from him. It was the only reason she was holed up in her room, instead of going for a run, or practicing martial arts, or- well, anything apart from sitting her ass in the dark. She was half-expecting she'd bump into him and be dragged into more chaos.

         ‎‎‎‎‎It wasn't like her, but for once, she felt she needed a break. Maybe...it'd be rude, sure, but maybe Ichigo would be awake. Did anyone even bother to check on him? To see how he was doing? He always put on this front, like he was so strong, indomitable, but Tatsuki knew fully how untrue that was. She wanted company. Maybe he did, too. Maybe he could use a break, himself.

         ‎‎‎‎‎She drew her phone from her pocket, dialing Ichigo's number, and waiting as it began to ring. If he was asleep and didn't answer, no harm, no foul. But it even surprised her how much she was hoping for the opposite.

         ‎‎‎‎‎After all, just how long had it been since the last time the two of them just...hung out and talked? Outside of class, or some wacky Soul Reaper adventure? It was so, so rare for her - but for once, she felt she just wanted a moment of peace with a friend.

Birth of Black: Tatsuki Arisawa, Fullbringer

After having been left behind again in trying to save her dearest friend, Orihime, Tatsuki has had enough by the time an invisible monster ambushes Ichigo before he has time to transform into a Soul Reaper.

And so cometh her hour. Her Fullbring, “Blue Bird, Fly Away” activates and she gains wing-like bladed tonfa that extend from her sparring gloves. Capable of extending wings from the blades, she can collect soul energy and expel it, either to dash extremely fast in one direction, to fly, or to create wide and thin spirit energy projectiles.

Secretly, her Fullbring has the ability “Clouds Drift By” that allows her to transfer all of her collected energy, including her own, into another. This brings her into a near death state and prevents her from using her wings to fly for a week.

She involuntarily uses this power to save Ichigo’s life, having been fatally wounded by the invisible creature.

Her power isn’t finished developing yet, but Tatsuki can finally fly to the defense of her beloved Orihime… and help out that Strawberry idiot.
