Any next gen Soul Eater ideas, like CroMa kids or something? Maybe they could finally start really healing the human-witch divide, unlike the copout super convenient manga truce🤷🏿‍♀️

Well to cover it in full, i'll start with how i would have handled their role in the plot, then gone over the individual characters and how one might handle them.

Now i would very much have the younger generation be directly involved/responsible for the two sides making peace, but one thing i would put a lot of emphasis on, is that this is NOT the case that the young was able to make peace with the witches because they had lost nothing.

This is one of the cheapest aspects of the way Kid made peace with the witches. Rather than forcing him to have to accept that people he cared about would go unavenged, kid never had to deal with having witches as a faction kill people he cared about, and so he never developed real hatred for them the way his father did.

This is very cheap, and it's the opposite of how i would have handled it with the next gen.

I would have had most if not all of them suffer real, genuine, personal losses in the war against witches which has ramped up during their early years.

Thus them eventually growing to tire of the war, and realizing that the conflict has to end at some point, even if it means giving up on revenge and payback would have had real, genuine bite.

And with that said, lets get into the real fun part. Dissecting the various aspects you could use to craft the next generation.

In regards to our favorite triangle, there is a lot of potential here.

To confront the most obvious thing out of the way, there is of course the question of wheter any biological child of Kid would also be a shinigami, and if so would the child be like Asura, who's senzu lines was already finished, but not full, or would they be like Kid's own.

If the latter, that completely changes the dynamic, because it means that the child in question has the potential to succeed him as the next great old one of order.

Kid was created with the goal of his father making a true successor that would ideally surpass him.

If kid has a child that has that same potential, it means that the kid in question is both someone Kid loves, but also the reality that to achieve that same potential that Kid unlocked, Kid in turn would have to die.

Even if any kid of Liz and Patty are not shinigami, their nature would still be very big parts of their dynamics with the world and their dad.

Because if fully Human, there is the very real fact that Kid will outlive them. Even in the best case scenario, where they die of old age, peacefully in their bed, their dad would still be eternally young and at their side to see it happen.

Needless to say, this is a great springboard to build character drama off, as the kids in question could easily have a very complicated question with their dad, who might be overprotective of them, and struggle to balance being a father, being the effective monarch of Death city, and their boss if they are Meisters or weapons.

And thats not even taking into account that as any story with half siblings born from a triangle, there is no guarantee that the kids would get well along. Liz and patty worked great because they had a very clear, uncomplicated and mutual love for one another.

As any look into histotical harem politics can tell you, this sort of dynamic very, very rarely appears amongst half siblings.

I imagine both liz and patty would both try to make their kids essentially the next generation's version of them, and that kind of thoughtless but well meaning parenting could easily lead to a very volitile couple of half siblings

And thats great, because theres a lot of ways you could write them with that background and dynamics in mind. And subsequentally, lots of character development you can get by putting this kind of complicated relationship of love mixed with rivalry through the wringer.

As for the kids personalities, the fact is that Kid, liz and Patty all have so many different traits and quirks that they could easily pass on to their kids that it's sorta all up to the author how each would turn out.

Moving on from the triangle, to the ninja duo, we have a parent and child dynamic that would either be great, or absolutely terrible.

Given how black star is, i have no doubt any child of him and tsubaki would probably embrace the fact they are the child of the strongest meister alive, essentially being very similar to him, or they would grow up to absolutely resent it.

Its not hard to see a kid who grows up trying to be black star, growing to absolutely reject the very concept of attaining power just because they want it.

And there are actually several ways to write that.

Obviously the kid could absolutely fail, and the story is about the fact they never had any shot at becoming as strong as he did, and so had to fidn their own way. But you could also write the opposite. Someone who DID attain the absolute peak... Then came to feel that it was all a waste of time, that by trying to be as great as dad, they wasted their entire life so far. That power was not all that important in the end.

Or they could be a happy go lucky kid who takes everything in stride for the most part like Black Star himself.

There are a lot of ways to write this relationship and the kind of person the kid would be.

Im not sure whas aort of relationship the kid would have with their mom though. I imagine Tsubaki would be a good caretaker, but other than being a good mom, i don't really see her as nearly as large a defining presscence in her childs teenage development as Black star is.

As for personality, wheter cynical or joyful, i would probably have them share a lot of traits with black star, like a love for the dramatics, a natural inclination to act over the top(if not mayhaps in the same attentionwhore manner as their dad), and maybe not being the brightest tool in the shed.

As for a child of Maka and Chrona, i would have said kid be the main protagonist of this story, just like her mother was the protagonist of the original.

And the reason for that, and for giving her a very distinct gender, is that i would explore this big conflict between Death's side, and the witches as a whole, by someone who is both.

Namely i would make full use of the fact that said child would be the granchild of Medusa, and in turn, be a witch just like her. Heck you could even have her take more from Medusa than either of her parents when it comes to look, which people have no problem pointing out.

One of the big problems with the witches as a faction is that we never really had a character to explore their inborn desire from destruction, and what that actually means... Well here's a great character to do that with. Someone who has chosen the side of order and law and is generally a good person... While also having all the same inborn urges that the opposition, the ones her own side deems as pure evil, has.

Its a great idea for a character journey, and thats withouth taking into acxount that if she has black blood, she would probably be prone to madness, just like Crona was.

That could manifest itself in bouts of utter bloodlust against evil enemies, just like how stein was when defeating medusa.

As for relationship with her parents, i like the idea of her growing up in a loving home, in stark contrast to her parent Chrona, she was the pride and joy of both her parents lives, and unlike her mother, she didnt groe up in the shadow of a broken relationship where everything just disitegrated.

Heck, even her relationship with spirit(as it would not be tainted by the man's infidelity), would probably be great.

No, her journey and character voes comes from the fact that while she has a great relationship with her family, unlike the rest of the cast, she has a far, far more tumoltous relationship with her homeland, the city state of death city.

There is an old african saying that "The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth". That would be her personal conflict in a nutshell.

She has loved ones in Death city... But she does not love her home the way the rest of the cast does.

As a witch who kills her own, she suffers not only from racism from both sides of this conflict, but would probably also feel like nobody loves her, with all the self loathing that entails. Every single relationship she has is either family, or someone her parents introduced her to.

In other words, she is a very lonely individual, with a lot of issues regarding wanting to make friends, but having huge problems doing that.

In fact, i would use Maka and Crona's best moment, their connecting in the basement so long ago, as something she holds up as an ideal. She WANTS something like that... And the reality is she probably is not going to get it. If she wants to find her own soul mate, she'll have to do it her own way, just like her parents did.

And if she cant... She will one day find herself completely alone in the world, as the only one who'll live as long as she will, is her boss Kid, who she isnt all that close with.

So a bit of a mix between her parents. She has maka's bravery, but just like crona, she has terrible absolutely capacity for friendmaking, and because that attempts at making new relationships leads to constant failure, at some point she became afraid to even try, to risk rejection.

Needless tos say her coming to terms with her issues would very much tie in to the two sides who she like it or not, are connected to both of, begin making peace.

As for personality, probably a mix of her parents with Maka's overall attitude and fluctuating confidence levels, but with Crona's inclination of selfimposed withdrawal and isolation.

As for Soul, if this story has maka and Crona hook up, that probably means he hooks up with... Blair.

Now there is a lot of irony here, that the relationship that was set up as the obvious "false lead" ended up becoming the actual one that happened, and by the time it did, Maka was actually okay eith it, but there is one idea i kinda did want to explore with this relationship.

Namely their kid.

Blair is unfortunately one of soul eaters most wasted characters. Other than fanservice, and one later arc where they got to be cool, she was never really used to good effect.

Essentially what i would do with her and Soul's kid is a do-over. Explore the ideas of having a very distinctly non human main cast member, who has a very nonchelant attitude to everything, life, love, death and so on.

They are the observer that doesnt really fit in, who has very different priorities than the rest of the crew, who yes, is fighting against witches, but isn't actually ideologically invested in the conflict the way the rest are.

Wheras all the rest have very distinct ideological and personal reasons for wanting to comtinue this fight until they "win", they dont care.

This is just a job, not in the sense they get paid to do so, but rather it's a lifestyle choice, that just happens to also include a lot of cash that can be traded for fish and other goodies.

As such, this cat boy/girl could also act as a voice of reason as the ultimate point of this story is the painful march to peace.

As for relationship with their parents, I would have this also be distinctly non human like. Soul WANTS a traditional, father child dynamic. But the reality is that while his kid is both fond of, and loves him, at the tender age of early puberty, they feel like they have grown up and it's time to leave the nest forever and be independent.

Something that weirds out the rest of the cast, but which blair finds perfectly normal and is proud of.

As for personality, very similar to Blair, just with way more focus on their friendship with the rest of the cast.

As for the main other pairing who would probably be really important here, stein and Marie, i... Have no idea honestly.

The fact is both of them are wacky, and insane, just in very different ways, and you could combine both... Or you could have their kid end up being completely normal.

It depends on what role you need them to fill honestly. If you need the older, cooler upper classman who is a few years older than the rest that could work, or if you wanna have them be the next stein with all the screws loose, that works too.

Honestly if you just wanna have them be the love interest who is more science oriented than fighting, that could work too as well.

Any of these combinations could emphasise different aspects of both Marie and Stein and still work just fine for their role.

For a next gen era fic, do you think you need to make the next gen as relatively low level in fighting capacity as Soul Eater's Three meisters were? I had an idea for such a story, but one thing i don't plan to feature is any particular rise in power for the cast(heroes and villains alike). Most of the crew is about as strong as they can be(with all the weapons being Death Scythes), with only one character in particular not being all that spectacular.

I dont know, i know the progress of getting stronger over time is baked into soul Eater's DNA as most Shonen series, but the fact is i think the original explored characters seeking strength as part of their journey well enough that doing it for the next gen is just retreading all ground.

Im way more interesting having the fights be more like the fight pre baba yaga's defeat, with a lot of interpersonal clashes where there are objectives at stake, rather than the fighting for fighting's sake that the manga became later down the line.

That way i can also use the fights to set up interpersonal rivalries between the kids and the witches they will be fighting, ala Black Star and Mifune.

But back to your question:

I think one reason why Shonen has this power escalation thing, especially in the "new gens surpassing the old ones" (besides obvious reasons like marketing lol) is because one does have the hope that ones children will live in a better world than you, that they will break circles of generational trauma and shit, like that old Nas song "born in correction, he'll be my resurection"

Ofcourse one can simply say that the fact that they dont have to fight that much and can focus on other more important things hence not being so powerful IS the better world the previous gen fought for.

Guess the only problem is that in battle shonen fights and powerlevels kinda define charachter, and thats why non fighters feel useless. (But more controversially I think its partly because not many writters have that inate talent of someone like Toriyama, the DBZ guy, who for example made Bulma a charachter who was interesting and relevant without ever having to fight but eh, dont wanna derail the post lol)

Ofcourse this is a kinda trivial problem, because nobody forces one to stick to the formula of the original work, and I think kinda subverting or evolving it further is more interesting than a simple retread.

But even something that seems to be repeating the same shit can work, like the next gen having the same flaws, or remixed ones, and dealing with the seemingly inescapable cycle of it - the fact that they cant even reach the heights of their parents being one additional problem and question they have to answer for themselves and the world:

Could even be like another type of Madness, entropy, for a charachter going crazy feeling that they are just a worse version of their glorious ancestors, and then thinking that their parents were too, so they're children or the next generations in the future will be even worse or something, leading to a conflict that resolves this contradiction, maybe by showing that the next gen has some novel talent.

And so we go back to the strength thing - I think ofourse it could work, but I think it would be intersting by exploring new applications of the abilitys, like maybe they are not nearly as strong, but more usefull for more problems? Maybe they get spread to a larger population so people dont require some single institution in the middle of Nevada to deal with everyones problems lol.

Maybe even it leads to a world where Kishineggs are a rarity and that is what the next gen accomplishes without doing shit youtubers overanalyze for "Could X beat Superman videos"?

I dunno, maybe I accidentally revealed some ideas from my own Next Gen concept (that Im not sure I'm ever getting to cause I have more than enough on my plate with SE Post, and not sure if I want to spend my whole life doing derivative work lol, but maybe it will materialize someday...) but I think in the end it is very possible to make a story without having charachter strengths baloon like that Macey parade or how its callled.

So yeah go for it, I think you have a good enough understanding of Soul Eater and general "shonen" stories to not fuck up that aspect, or even if you do - its a valuable experience anyways lol. Then I only will say good luck and hope to see it be realised in the future!

Oh and a little side thing - I think its prudent to have the old cast be usefull and not just disapear to not "overshadow" the new one, and thats a way to keep the powers down by knowing what treshold not to cross, and there one can even play with the idea of strength, like to spoil one of my plotpoints, I had an whole arc for an adult BlackStar who is the officially strongest by some rank (idk why they are ranked, lets just say commercialization or new mass media lol), but is kinda unhappy, first because a mysterious second ranked individual gets all the shine but also because he kinda having matured realises that he got alienated from most of his old circle, being alone while many of them had familys and settled down. Basically it would start from there and non of the next gen kids would prolly come close to his strength, atleast physically but idk if my idea comes of good in words, but if it feels like lame "charachter bashing" - Yeah...Sorry

Time to give references for the other three like I said I would!

Toska - Child of Kid and Crona. A perfectly normal human child, except for their immense control over their soul wavelength, and the ability to manipulate the wavelength of others. Wishes they were a God of death like Kid, acts very high and mighty towards 'mortals'. Spends hours fixing hair into perfect symmetry.

Cassius - Child of Black Blood. No one is exactly sure how he came to be, other than he formed from a puddle of black blood. He's somewhat outcast, as Crona can't stand to be around him, particularly because he also has a affinity for snakes.

He gets grey and dull as he weakens, and will return to puddle form if exhausted. He's all round unsettling and unpleasant to be around.

Kami - Daughter of Maka and Kid. Unfortunately got saddled with 'your parents are amazing so you must be too' for most of her younger days. She is bookish, loves reading and studying, puts her all into Meister training. High anxiety, terrified by the supernatural, having an identity crisis which leads to some random fashion choices.

Cassius loves to torment her, which became a whole thing as they get older.

Both Soul and Maka are teachers/professors (still go on missions)

Both Black ★Star and Tsubaki are martial arts teachers( I would like to imagine that Black ★Star trains boys and Tsubaki trains girls, but they both have equal amount of fighting skills so i think students could pick whoever fits them best)

Death the Kid is now Lord Death and is accompanied by his death scythes(true demon weapon) Liz and Patty.

Like i said in my description, Kid and Black★Star are a couple so if it’s not your thing please just move on i already warned you.

Since this is a next gen au they do have kids.

Soul and Maka have a child, her name is Tenshi Evans.

Soul Eater characters and their MLP Gen 4 equivalents

i will be disregarding all ships and familial relationships for this purely because it would make it WAY too complicated and this is my silly little haha. i already put too much thought into it, i cannot burden my mind with the restraint of familial and romantic relations.

first up, the main 7 characters. starting with the one who inspired this all:

Maka as Twilight Sparkle

she's got the wings, she's got the book smart, she's got the power of friendship on her side, it's perfect. this was all started b/c while rewatching the anime, we joked that Maka's dubbed voice sounded like Twilight. this one is the strongest comparison, it gets worse from here.

Soul as Spike

no offense to Soul, but he's usually secondary to Maka most of the time. snarky, sassy, and often asking questions. also, his name is Spike, Soul's got spiky hair, it makes sense.

Black☆Star as Rainbow Dash

cocky, proud, super strong, fast, and blue!! a lot of their development revolves around like valuing other people (Black☆Star is more about like,,,, becoming his own person but y'know) also they both have scratchy voices.

Tsubaki as Fluttershy

calm and mild mannered, but also on occasion has the ability to go apeshit. befriends someone who is quite strong and obnoxious that most characters find annoying.

Death the Kid as Rarity

obsessive about appearances and has a particularly fancy way of talking. pale?? distinctive hair. makes sense.

Patty as Pinkie Pie

no explanation necessary.

Liz as Apple Jack

older sister figure! blonde and realistic, kinda tough and used to having to work for stuff (though Liz doesn't have to do it too much anymore now that she and patty are chilling w/ Kid) also, AJ was the only one left of the mane 6 lol.

Crona as Princess Luna

obviously the moon connection, duh. dark aesthetic, doesn't understand other people, and gets kinda possessed by madness!! which leads into my next choice

Kishin Asura as Nightmare Moon

evil!! but also because they were a bit misunderstood. spreads their powers across the entire world. possesses someone who is also part of them. lives on the moon.

Lord Death as Princess Celestia

tall and a god figure, but also kind of royalty? super OP but also we barely get to see them fight or use their powers ever so that our lovely main characters can be the ones to defeat the big bad. questionable morals at times.

there's three of them and they are inseparable. do not separate them. Kilik can be Sweetie Belle b/c he's standing in the middle.

evil. weird and confusing hair!! dark aesthetic with one accent color. insanely manipulative, undeniably slaying.

this one comes as a suggestion from Tumblr mutual (and my literal current college suite mate) @xaltiide she says that this guy is "the big bad" but isn't doing Most of the bad stuff in comparison to the other villains.

for those unaware of him/new to the blog/new to my next gen verse, hyakken is the third oldest of my fukumori fankids, and he has a profile here! it's a little outdated and needs elaborating but it works for now lmao

Funnily enough, all the MHA talk made me realise another aspect I didn't mind in the Soul Eater anime ending - some people say it came too quick and not much changed or was resolved, yet I think the fact is, that at 51 episodes a kinda open yet at the same time conclusive ending works - and with conclusive I mean things like, compare anime Crona with Deku - both are charachters that sometimes get reduced to crybabys or being super passive - yet Crona ends up living with Maka and Soul and joining the group - they didn't take part at the final battle, yet it doesn't really feel like they were "cucked" (pardon this awful term) because they had the big self sacrifice moment, and even did the whole speech that hyped up Maka - even if one imagines Crona kinda living a very uneventful life, it feels right, cause they have the people that they grew to love and care for around them. But if Soul Eater was 500 episodes long, then maybe it would feel like "oh, that's it? no next gen ships and kids? no cool transformations, etc?" I'm afraid this didn't turn out as coherent as I wanted but I hope the jist can be understood. Anyways, good luck with dealing with another horrible anime ending, cause even if it sounds trivial, it does suck...

Going to start with the disclaimer: we’re not using “cuck” here--we’re taking that word out of the lexicon in this response, given the worst people online who could have said “I wish Izuku and Ochaco had some closure” and instead wrongly lambasted her and other girl and women characters, and wrongly debased Izuku. 

Funnily enough, all the MHA talk made me realise another aspect I didn't mind in the Soul Eater anime ending - some people say it came too quick and not much changed or was resolved, yet I think the fact is, that at 51 episodes a kinda open yet at the same time conclusive ending works - 

My annoyance with the Soul Eater ending has to do with how the anime introduces some brand new details seemingly just to artificially create an ending. 

This kind of Gecko Ending approach was the same problem the first Blue Exorcist anime had: did we really need to bring in a new grandfather for Rin and Yukio to set up this final arc? 

It’s what I think about Soul Eater. We bring in Buttataki but as a tech expert so we can have a city versus castle fight and give Sid and Kid almost zero reason to start being suspicious. We have Stein disappear to take him off the chessboard and give Medusa an artificial power boost. Maka has to get close to perfecting Genie Hunter but struggles with it. None of this felt organic, it felt like new swerves just for the sake of reaching the ending, not taking what was already there to get to the ending, or having the ending in mind first and working backwards all the way to Episode 1. 

At least when the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime did its original ending, there were details introduced all the way back to Episode 1 to establish this was a different story from the manga, that these variations were there for a reason to set up the ending. 

and with conclusive I mean things like, compare anime Crona with Deku - both are charachters that sometimes get reduced to crybabys or being super passive - yet Crona ends up living with Maka and Soul and joining the group - they didn't take part at the final battle, yet it doesn't really feel like they were "cucked" (pardon this awful term) because they had the big self sacrifice moment, and even did the whole speech that hyped up Maka - even if one imagines Crona kinda living a very uneventful life, it feels right, cause they have the people that they grew to love and care for around them.

Yeah, “cuck” is an awful word, perpetuating the sexist and misogynistic crap thrown at Ochaco and other characters who weren’t confirmed to be in any relationship with Izuku. We can talk about disappointment with the shipping closure without using that bullshit word. 

I’m pissed we got all that build up to Izuku and Ochaco, then never paid it off with either making them a couple or undermining the romantic cliches, but I’m not going to perpetuate the toxic masculinity bullshit online to tear down Izuku along with the other characters. And that’s not even getting into how people may have read Izuku being with someone who isn’t a girl or a woman or being asexual. It sucks that Horikoshi did not commit to an ending, but I’m not turning that into an enforced expectation that a relationship had to happen and then if it didn’t that people get to make sexist remarks about characters. And that’s not even getting into how that reduces Ochaco and others into just objects. 

I’m fine with Izuku’s conclusion in the manga, although I agree with you that so much of Crona’s ending in the anime works as well, as they showed obvious progression, are in a different place than they were before, whereas Izuku is repeating so much of what he did in Chapter 1 that it is hard to see him as a new character when he is literally doing stuff we already saw in Chapter 1, suggesting this isn’t progression so much as “same scene, new flavor.” 

Let’s go back to why Crona worked: I agree with you, Crona gets a happy ending, living with Maka and Soul is good for them, they contributed to Maka’s defeat of Medusa, they are the ones who get to summarize the thesis statement to the anime for the audience when awakening to watch Maka’s punch of courage--they get to be one of the ones who pretty much has the last word on how Maka defeats Asura. 

Fans online are not reaching agreement on whether this is a happy ending or not for Izuku. Crona wanted a home and got it; Izuku wanted to run off doing heroics--and didn’t get to. We don’t get to see Izuku playing hero or fantasy cosplay stuff. If Izuku being a teacher was ever on the table at some point earlier in the series, it would fit better for narrative cohesion. It’s believable Izuku would become a teacher; it’s just not a good setup and payoff that a well written story should have. 

I agree that how we see the story ends does influence whether each story works. Our last image of Izuku is just a comic book splash page--that’s boring. Crona’s last images are a decent home life with Maka and Soul (barring the offensive and stupid Blair moment) and getting overwhelmed playing basketball (cute, but not punching down on them). 

But if Soul Eater was 500 episodes long, then maybe it would feel like "oh, that's it? no next gen ships and kids? no cool transformations, etc?"

See also the Fire Force problem. We get an entirely new manga, and the only new info we get for Soul Eater is stuff to populate the wiki, answering questions that are comparatively less engaging, as to what Maka’s mother looks like and what the main four kids looked like as toddlers.

What are some of your favorite games of all time?

This is a great question, more questions about video games, less questions where people make up things I never said and demand I defend those positions, XD

Anyway, here's a short list:

Pathfinder: Kingmaker. The best isometric RPG ever made, in my opinion.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. The best version of one of the best games ever made.

Mass Effect Trilogy. Yeah the third one shit the bed in a lot of ways, but I still enjoy the series as a whole. Playing a game series where your choices carried over from one game to the next was groundbreaking in the 2000s, and I always enjoyed my time with these games. Especially rereleased in the legendary edition.

Resident Evil 2, Original and Remake. My favorite Resident Evil game of all time. Great game, great story, great characters.

Resident Evil 4, original and remake. Second favorite Resident Evil game. Also, my husband's favorite game ever. I love seeing him get excited over it, XD

Suikoden 2. Great gameplay, great story, best game in the series.

Tales of Zesteria. Mikleo my beloved!

Jaws (NES). Yes, it's bad. Yes, it's short. No, I don't care. This was one of the first games I ever owned, and me and my dad used to play it together when I was very little. I have a lot of fond memories of trying to figure out how to beat the game with him. I still remember how excited we were when we started to figure out the gameplay loop for the very first time.

Mortal Kombat 2. The game that introduced me to the series, and still one of my old favorites. I still play and love MK to this day because of it.

Kingdom Hearts, whole series. I can't really pick one game, because they're all both really, really good and really, really bad, XD. But I love the story and the characters, and I've enjoyed each of them in different ways. But if I had to pick just one, I'd probably pick 2.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Still the best Star Wars game ever made. Still one of the best western RPGs ever made. The plot twist is still one of my favorite moments in video game history.

Max Payne 2. Ugh, so good. Great storytelling, fun gameplay. Took everything great about Max Payne 1 and did it better. RIP James McCaffrey.

MegaMan Battle Network, whole series. Probably the best reimagining of a classic IP I've ever seen, from the old days when "reimagined" didn't mean "vandalized". I was several years older than him when the first game came out, but in a lot of ways I grew up with Lan and his friends, and these games will always have a special place in my heart.

Jade Empire. Another great BioWare western RPG. Great setting, good story, unique characters, and really good and unique-for-the-time combat.

Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. I don't even know why I like this game so much, but I do, lol. They should have given the male PC a romance ending with Gig, though >_<

Pokemon Red and Blue. Pure nostalgia entry, but even though there are a lot of boring Gen 1 haters, to be a 10 year old kid when the original US Pokemon craze was at its peak was something special, and the games and the Pokemon will always be cherished in this house. Gen 1 supremacy, noobs!

Batman Arkham Asylum. You have no idea what it was like growing up a Batman fan and a video game fan in the years before Arkham Asylum. Every Batman game was terrible. It was a running joke how no one could do a good Batman game. Hell, half the word of mouth for AA was "did you hear someone's trying to make a good Batman game?" That they got many of the incredible voices from Batman the Animated Series back was even better. RIP Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin. (And fuck Mark Hamill)

Legacy of Kain, whole series. Aside from Metal Gear Solid, this series is the definitive master class on video game storytelling and voice acting. I love the plot, I love the characters, I love everything. I hate how the ball was dropped so hard after Defiance, because that game set up an amazing follow up that just...never happened. It was such a sad fall from grace, because in the early 2000s this was the AAA game series. Everyone loved it. Everyone was desperate for the next game. And then it just kind of fizzled out after a few missteps and developer woes. And it died a quiet death in a proto-live service multiplayer game that no one wanted and even fewer people played. And while the tragedy is appropriate to the Gothic setting, I'm still hoping against hope for a faithful remake of the first games that spurs the original developers to finally finish the series the way it always deserved.

Honorable Mention: Final Fantasy 8. Gonna be honest here, 70% of my love for this game comes from fanfiction, lol. I played the game when I was a kid, and didn't really like it. It was weird and looked bad (I played it long after I'd gotten used to the "modern" graphics of the PS2 generation) and even with a Codebreaker and cheats the final boss was super frustrating. But there's some really great FF8 fanfic out there. Stuff I reread every few years. And it's given me a phantom nostalgia for the game.

BEHOLD!!! THE VERY FIRST OC I EVER MADE!!!!!

Her name was chestnut lily and i made her when i was around 8 years old. She was apart of an MLP next gen i had and was the princess of nature, she was best friends with ALL of the mane 6 and was a self insert mary sue in EVERY sense of the word! (Hell, i remember not knowing what colors she should have so i literally just gave her my IRL hair and eye color, i don't have jaundace though)

Oh yea and since i was going through my edgy phase a little TOO early (AKA showing signs of undiagnosed trauma ✌😚) she was really fucked up and did shit like eating meat, murdering breezies and some other stuff i feel like i shouldn't share because it's THAT concerning (all i feel like i can say is that it involves the love poison from the hearts and hooves episode)

Lastly, i just to clarify that this isn't an edit i made back then. I made this a couple hours ago and i just recolored a rainbow dash vector because despite her NOT being my favorite character at the time, chestnut actually WAS just a rainbow dash recolor. I rarely ever drew chestnut and i mostly just imagined stories about her in my head, all of which in the show art style so more often than not she was a recolor because that was the best way my brain could vizualize her (i remember trying to draw out her design a couple times but they never seemed to stick, hell one of her designs had her with maka's pigtails from soul eater because my sister was obsessed with that anime at the time lol)

Spoilers for 100 years quest so uh. You've been warned.

Ok so I was looking for those old character refs that Mashima used to put in chapters that had name, age, magic, likes and dislikes and I couldn't find Rogue's for some reason so I ended up on TVTropes and started looking through the characters and ended up on Laxus.

So now I'm hysterical because what the actual fuck.

I was aware that he removed his lacrima as I'd seen the picture floating around but first of all, the guy full on ripped it out himself.

Obviously it meant he wouldn't die since his opponent was trying to kill him if he didn't do that but that had to hurt like a bitch.

But also he ate Alexion's soul to get his slaying abilities back.

So he isn't second gen any more because he doesn't have a lacrima anymore and he isn't 1st or 3rd since he wasn't trained by Alexion. He isn't fourth since they weren't human, they were machines given dragon slayer properties(Dragon cry) and he isn't 5th because he didn't physically eat the flesh of a dragon, just the soul.

So does that make Laxus a new 6th generation of dragon slayer. And is Alexion's soul actually dead or will this be like Wendy with Irene and Laxus is just gonna have this dragon talking to him randomly.

Also also, is Laxus now the lightning dragon king like how Natsu was given the mantel by Igneel or does Kiren hold that title as he was the one to kill Alexion.

Its implied that dragon titles are passed on to the ones that kill them as Acnologia killed to get his title and then said that Natsu would be the next king or he'd make a good king or something that I don't remember exactly. So does it apply to dragon eaters as well since they are dragon slayers.

I am still hopeful that Cobra, Sting and Rogue will show up (Probably unlikely as they have no reason to be in another country at this point in time since he isn't in Fairy tail and that's the reason Gajeel and Laxus were able to pop in and get so much attention (I mean backstory for Laxus' lacrima and him becoming a new generation and Gajeel fighting God Serena (even if it isn't him) is pretty good all things considered) but I really want them to appear because they also have lacrima so it would be cool to get maybe one more case of a dragon eater causing a lacrima to exist or even just get more info on the dragons that their lacrimas came from (because it is also now canon that the souls do cry out for their hearts so there is at least 3 other dragon souls out their trying to find their hearts if they haven't faded by then) and I just really want more screen time for them. Firstly I love Rogue's new outfit and want to see more, second I want to make fun of Sting's because his fashion sense is awful, third I am desperate for more canon Cobra content because he is used so little and it disheartens me (Cobra has had the oracion seiz and Kotsh arcs to be a villian, the dragon king festival to be a reluctant ally(non-perma death included), the tartarous arc to change his tune(even if Jellal giving them no choice but to listen to him or they go back to prison makes me feel uncomfortable. Just let them be free at last dammit), the Alveraz arc (which we don't get to see him fight August just that sorcier lost) and half of the Rhodonite spin off manga (Which some if not a majority of people haven't even read the three spin offs and if you haven't then you should because they are amazing and hilarious and I wish they made one for Cobra because the potential that was their because all three of the books had two stories so one could focus on his time in the seiz or a short section about his reflection in prison or something and the other his time in crime Sorciere as they all have at least 1 story set during Fairy tail's disbandment) so if we got more Cobra screentime I would cry and sing to the skies.

Besides, if we don't get anything about their lacrimas then no one is stopping me from doing it myself. (I'm still debating if I want to do a sequel when I'm finished 'the bringer of death and the apocolypse' that follows 100 year quest although I have thought about it and have a few ideas because I have in fact planned how this story ends roughly, just a couple things that may change between then and now) After all, every dragon slayer is prominent in this au........ eventually

Well I went on a real long tangent here. Oops. I wasn't joking when I said I have no one to talk to about this because the like 3 friends I have either aren't interested in the series or don't want to put in so much time to watch over 300 episodes.

Nico’s Eyes of Heka

With ‘Eyes of Heka’ ability that Nico got from his mom’s mummy ancestry, he can see the flow of magic. It gives him a near 360º field of vision that allows him to perceive the flow of magic, use telescopic vision that can see through solid objects to track a targets through magic, and read the flow of magic within people’s bodies. He can clearly see magic pathway, determine key weak points, and to some degree predict opponents moves by reading the fluctuations of magic/soul in a person’s body. Legends even say that masters of the ability can also see through invisible barriers that connect between dimensions. While an incredibly powerful ability, it can be pretty taxing on a person’s body and mind if overused or if the user isn’t physically fit.

There was also a Yu Yu Hakusho Demon OC named Kira. All of these were from my forum days. There are more... but I don't remember the names anymore. For trivia, I don't remember names, but there was an OC for Saiyuki Reload. There was another One piece OC. I also had an Ouran Highschool host club OC... maybe two of them. There were two Naruto OCs. Had an OC for Soul Eater. That's all that comes to mind now.

WOULD WRITE AGAIN:

The Forum OCs are retired and I probably won't ever write them again. Mako Jun, I'd probably have to brush up on every now and again when the mam of his husband Atlas pops in to chat. (Every few years kekw) We just chat about how we miss the DA RP group and how things are going. She still rp's on DA a lil bit but now RP as their kids! Other than that, if I retired a muse officially, I had reasons for it. The only one I'd write again would be Tarras if we finally got someone who would pick up translations again and we finally got his backstory.
