Dear anon, where is the shameless bit? Aaaaanyway:

The night sky was utterly dark, just like his soul. It was not like it was dark because of how Oda left the Earth, it was already dark from the start. Oda simply lit a candle in his dark abyss.

Dazai’s hand was covered in blood. Not his own, and that makes it ten times grosser and shittier. His hand slipped as he tried to open the door to his apartment, but Chuuya opened it from the other side as he was about to try again.

"Hey, Dazai— Why the fuck is there blood on your hands?" Chuuya's voice went from almost vulgar to worry. Instantly.

Dazai didn't reply, he slumped onto the couch, in silence.

"Are you okay?" Asked Chuuya geniuenly. He didn't expect Dazai to be fine, but it's the only thing he could say.

"Never been, but thanks for noticing." Dazai snapped.

Chuuya sighed. Dazai was not easily pissed. Either something really shitty happened, or he’s just insane. He changed his voice into a softer one:

"If you want to talk, I—"

"Will talking revive a dead person? No, it won't. So no fucking thank you, and just let me deteriorate here and die."

"..."

He's right. Comfort revives nobody.

It never did.

It never fucking did.

But sometimes, it's better to talk than to stay silent. Because maybe if you talk, you may still grasp onto the remaining wisp of fleeting happiness. You wouldn't leave.

Just for clarification, I do not think Dazai would have changed his mind even if he had talked to Chuuya. He was trying to do what Oda wanted him to do, Chuuya has no involvement in this, yet he convinced himself that Dazai leaving was because of him not speaking. In shortened form, he misunderstood why Dazai left.

Starting to love this story now, so... wait for a part 2?
