I think at first, Marcus would allow the other patient’s feelings towards him to continue, not doing much to combat them as it strokes his ego to be adored. However, when they begin to plant seeds of doubt in his Darling’s mind, he knows he’s gone too far.

You and that nobody patient weren’t even supposed to meet— Marcus does his best to insulate your appointments so you don’t encounter any patients and learn about the… special therapeutic techniques he reserves just for you. But mistakes happen, and now you’ve met the worst patient you could’ve run into, and you’re doubting him.

Marcus has to assure you that the other patient is just jealous and a compulsive liar, that they’re unstable and unwell, anything to get across to you that he would never break the bounds of professionalism by discussing you with other patients for no reason, and reassuring you that whatever feelings he shows you— patience, impatience, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, are genuine. He doesn’t hate you, he’s not “barely tolerating you.” You’re his favorite patient, he reassures you of that— though he knows it’s unprofessional to say so.

As for the other patient, he takes some time to break them down and make them feel every bit as insecure and horrible as they’d tried to make you feel. And if they start to get more desperate and violent, as yanderes do, he’ll simply make their death look self-inflicted, or like an accident.

the hero of river dane was her childhood crush - the entire alienage knows about it because she was really absolutely unbearable about it. it's not her fault that the stories made him the perfect man and also gave him some weird homoerotic tension with king maric. he's not the perfect man, she learns as an adult, but the weird homoerotic tension with king maric is true (so take THAT, soris!).

loghain takes her to maric and rowan's graves only once. they don't say anything, but they stay there until after the sun sets.
