I noticed that I have a very big inclination to see stuff as family, like I see Kazu and Beidou as son and mother (Ning being the other mother) and Lisa and Razor also as mother and son, I also strongly believe that Cyno and Razor 𝗮𝗿𝗲 related in some way, & if that's true, she also can potentially be to Cyno, too! And I see Collei, Nari, and Cyno as like Collei is the sweet younger sibling and Nari is the responsible, (sassy) older sibling that takes care of the other (and Cyno is the older sibling's boyfriend that just hangs out and the other sibling loves them [platonicly], which is mutual) or as parents to Collei! I also hope with all my heart that Ei and Scara will be happy some day. Oh, and ALSO, I see Ganyu, Xiao, Hu, and Zhongli as a happy family. And Diluc and Kaeya as adopted bros. oh, oh! and Furina and Neuvi as father and daughter.
So, yeahhh, a BIG tendency to see stuff as family–
Also! for those who like Zhongli fam here
It's a fic about them with a little bit of chili sprinkled in =)

got this reblog on one of my posts were i talked about being anxious about the future of the zelda series after totk and-
Tumblr media
i even went back and unblocked them just to check my own post and check twice what they meant exactly- but i still dont know how they got to these conclusions
i never said i 'want a good uwu ganondorf' (bc that would mean hes aligned with hyrule bc thats how goodness works!!!!11!1!!!), i also dont think of any of the zeldas as 'whores' (seriously, where did that come from?? neither me nor the addition of someone agreeing with me said anything like that??? did they think bc the addition called tloz misogynistic means we think zelda is a whore????? huh???)
its also funny how they say they want zelda to stay a simple fairytale rather than have 'people like me' bc .. one point i talked about in the og post was how the evil arab thing VS good white people media likes to do so much is so normalized here that its simply seen as a simple harmless fairytale trope instead of a big underlying issue in general media and the writers might not even realize it (which is worse) bc the most 'generic' appeal is to people who dont think of it as a problem in the first place, because it is so normalized
(huh, i wonder about what kind of person that part was about .. hmmmm)
(ALSO funny they mention princess hilda as nuanced villain ... like ... wow they are so nuanced about purple haired people!!- like guess why we want a nuanced/less badly/less flat written ganondorf and what he, in particular, has not in common with other villains! its not his hair color! .... or was that point supposed to mean .. look we have one female character that is a villain, its not misogynistic! idk honestly)
(and the classic, "you just call it this/dont like it bc its not what you wanted !!!!!!!2!"1!112!!")
also funny how its 'never gonna be progressive enough' like asking for the franchise to maybe put a little more thought and nuance into their white divine right vs evil desert man simulator instead of making it worse is already asking too much
(i dont know what the last point has to do with anything??)
(also yes totk is racist, like most if not all of the franchise and a alot of other media as well, shocker- you can still like it though, i and plenty of other people are still fans of it, we just wish they did a little more with their stuff and maybe not make the racism problem WORSE)
(also yes the hyrule monarchy is also evil :))) )
(and also not so secretly so either :)) )

I have finally decided to put my knowledge as a occupational therapist in training to good use and made a little comic about some ADL (activities of daily life) things!
The little cutting aid Leo is using in the last panel is a cutting board with an extra board that has spikes on it. The spikes can be used to impale something, an apple in this case, so its easier to cut it apart with one hand! Also the cutting board has little anti-slippery thingies under it so it doesnt move around while trying to cut something. There are so many things that people without disabilities take for granted, me as well, that we would never notice!
This is @intotheelliwoods Little poptart btw! He is great for demonstration purposes since he only has one arm and also is a little guy and i love him <33
Those cutting boards with spike and anti-slipping aids also exist in real life and are used by people who have problems with motor functions in their hands or are missing an arm/hand alltogether! You can also put toast on it if you wanna spread butter on it or other things to cut apart.
I think anything that can educate and empower a person to be more self confident, self sufficient and independent in what they do is important and more people should have access to aids like these if they need it!
Im gonna link an english website that I found (i apologize for lack of ressources, i am german and mostly only have german one sbdhwbch) and if anyone wants to, feel free to add your own ressources as well! Also if you know that these websites might be shit, also feel free to tell me *insert keysmash* (though unfortunately these can get so fucking expensive, though we learn in our training as well how to make lots of these aids from scratch for our clients!)

Unfortunately due to TOH being cut short by Disney a lot of character arcs and more storyline could not be fully fleshed out and finished as Dana had to wrap up everybody’s story in just a few episodes
I'm fully aware that Disney's intervention is responsible for a lot of the plotlines getting suffocated. Which is why I don't think it's fair to go harassing crew members with "why didn't THIS happen??" and all that, because nobody really knows what they endured working on those final episodes and how much they had to cut and rewrite. But from things Dana has said, it was likely a very stressful and exhausting experience. So I don't like to make assumptions about the crew being incompetent. Nobody knows how the season WOULD have turned out if they had been granted full creative freedom and breathing room to develop it to their hearts content.
However, me not directing personal ire towards the crew doesn't mean that I think that the show is immune to criticism. Its flawed. It might not be entirely the crew's fault but that doesn't mean we can't talk about how it's flawed. If anything, I think acknowledging and dissecting its weaknesses is a good learning opportunity for what we should consider when creating our own stories.
Season 3 is a bit of a mess. There's good stuff. There's some less than good stuff. I think ultimately, as a story about Luz, King and Eda, it knocks it out of the park. When they were left with no other option, they decided to prioritize the writing of their three protagonists and I think that was the correct choice.
But I've been thinking about the three specials and how they stand on their own, quality wise, and honestly, there's valid criticism to be said that is completely unrelated to the shortening.
Bear in mind that the crew has known since Follies that the show was getting cut short and they needed to start wrapping up loose ends. So it's not like they started writing Thanks to Them believing it was the first of 20+ more episodes. They knew that they were going to be writing a 40 minute special. So the execution had to be tight, concise and satisfying, right?
Well...it was....weird. Definitely fun. Good for fan service. The main hook was the witch kids navigating the human world in their dorky witchy way. And initially, that was enough. But once the novelty of that wears off and we focus on the plot of the special, what do we have left?
Thanks to Them is very guilty of lore baiting. Dropping in stuff that they know damn well that they're never going to elaborate on, leaving the audience with a feeling of intrigue that is never going to be satiated.
I personally think that is just bad writing. They knew they didn't have a full season 3 and rather than rewrite the means of which the hexsquads finds answers, they still made the choice to drop in what are most likely vague ideas from the initial draft.
I think, if they had no intention of developing it in future specials, there was no point to that scene of Masha telling the Wittebane story. It was just...filler. To stretch out the running time. Which is....kind of precious. Only 40 minutes. If you're obsessive enough about lore, you already knew the story from the Hollow Mind paintings. That scene was for casual viewers. Which is useless, because there's no point in casual viewers learning about Evelyn and Caleb because it never went anywhere.
Also. I personally think that if there was any value to learning the Wittebane lore without making it plot relevant, it would be for the sake of character development. We wanted to know how the kids would react to this knowledge.
Well how did they react?
*Shrug* They seemed a little unnerved but they kinda forgot about it the second they got off the hayride.
So what was the point of all that? What was the point?
Is it because we wanted "Goodbye, Evelyn," to be more of gut punch?
Was it worth it? Was "Goodbye, Evelyn" worth it? We know fucking nothing about Evelyn.
I think the rebus was a stupid and lazy means for the kids to discover Titan's blood. You introduce this mysterious object that was hidden under the floorboards and then you just use it as a plot device.
When the kids uncover the rebus and find the secret code inside, the viewer is not thinking about how it can be used as a means to an end (finding blood) The viewer is thinking "what the fuck is that thing and how did it get there and how did Flapjack know it was there?"
Questions that will not be answered <333
ALL IM SAYING is that I'm sure the crew could have come up with another way for the kids to have a Titan's blood treasure hunt. Maybe they could have dug a little more into the history of Gravesfield and follow leads on weird things happening on this one spot in the graveyard (which turns out to be because there's magical energy there, revealed when Luz realizes she can use glyphs)
I just think that if you're gonna leave the mystery box a mystery, you shouldn't have included it.
And I know. Its subtle storytelling. There's elements of what could have been a far more complex story and they're leaving hints of it here and there.
Well the thing about that is I think the hints are very unsatisfying and weaken the episode's plot significantly.
Also I don't think they should get to just pick and choose what parts of the lore are subtle and what parts are ham-fisted.
YES we are going to be reminded like three times that Flapjack is being secretive and hiding things from Hunter.
NO we are never going to get a payoff for that because he gets shanked and dies first.
BUT!! BUT!! If you squint, its IMPLIED that Flapjack belonged to Evelyn and blah blah blah
You don't get to rub things in the audience face and then choose to be all subtle about it at the last minute. Pick one or the other.
Anyway....I think they could have written Thanks to Them as more of an intriguing and suspenseful horror mystery where they spend forty minutes gathering clues and everything finally clicks together at the very end. That's not what we got.
We got a very weak attempt on the Hexsquad's part to be little detectives, but like a minute of screen time was devoted to them dicking around in a library, a costume shop, and a zoo.
I don't think we can blame the shortening for this.

"Who's idea was it to put the cone on your head for the parade? Was that all you?" "Zach Eisenberg [Director, Executive Operations]—I think is his name—he takes care of us a lot at Amerant Bank Arena. I don't know his exact role with the team but he's just kind-of always around, and helps us out. He's friends with Brooks [Koepka.] I think he helps Brooks when he comes to the games. Anyways he found a pylon or I think I might have told him—I was pretty drunk at the time but I think I told him to go get a py—'if you could find a pylon, find one!' 'Cuz they sprung that speech on me, kind-of, last second, you know, five minutes before I was supposed to go up there. I'm like, 'What the fuck am I gonna say?' So I had him go grab the pylon and I grabbed it on the side of the stage right before I was gonna do my speech. And luckily all the clips are of that, you know, me telling him to go fuck himself... 'cuz the rest of my speech was terrible. There's really nothing to it! And I'm so happy that, you know, all the clips are only of that so!" "Yeah, we didn't know you said anything else! I thought that was the entire speech!" "That's all that matters!" "Exactly, exactly! I got away with it there!"
The Cam & Strick Podcast | 7.30.24 (x)
i love finding out they basically told ekky he was gonna have to do a whole speech 5 minutes before he was up while hes been drenched from rainwater and alcohol for like the past 6 hours absolutely pissed out of his mind like yeah no wonder his speech basically culminated to THANK YOU SOUTH FLORIDA AND ALSO GIVE IT UP FOR MY D PARTNER WOOOOO yeah that tracks
"But what golf tournament* were you at shortly after that? Somebody was dressed like a cone? Was that Lomberg who was dressed in like a costume? A cone costume?" "He came—Brooks came up to you—" "No, that was his buddy, that was his buddy. He was actually a Sunrise police officer. I actually saw him last night at the Zach Bryan concert! But yeah, no, that's one of his buddies. No, he was completely put to bed the day after. Right? Like he texted me—I personally didn't care, like, how many people at a hockey game are calling me a cone and telling Barkov he's got no hands like it's—you know, that's hockey. That's sports, right? So I didn't give a shit but—yeah, no, it was all in good fun. And then I got a way to get him back! It's perfect!" "But when you did see the first video of him in the box—and I remember watching that, I'm like, 'this motherfucker is rolling esctasy!' His eyes were fuckin' gigantic, he's like, 'Aaargghh.' Like, 'I can't take him, he's calling me a cone! I can't—' But that is kind-of odd that a professional athlete is gonna call you a cone and he's like a fan of yours...it's just—it was really bizarre!" "Goofy!" "Yeah..." "And his eyes were black which, you know..." "What does that mean?" "I just know what that means... and he was fucked up, you know..." "Yeah, yeah! He was definitely fucked up and he agreed that he was fucked up. And he apologised so I didn't care, obviously. And then when I was at that golf event I should've thrown a beer at his backswing or something—at the LIV event when he was actually competing? I should've fucked with him but I couldn't do it... I couldn't—I couldn't find the courage to throw something at him..." "So did he reach out to you like that night? And say, 'Hey, dude... I was just joking, you know...'" "'I took some pills and...'"

*2023 LIV Golf Team Championship (Miami) held from Oct. 20-22 in Doral
[and i suppose more context here lombo and koepka are friends and he even showed up to his cupday when he went golfing in parkland and not to mention that lombo facilitated koepka apologising to ekky so its why the whole cone costume came to be really]
theres a lot more context about this incident and the ensuing storm after it so for archival sakes here are articles about it (x)(x)(x)(x)(x) because its quite a saga but its water under the bridge and there's only so much tabloid-esque coverage thats been reignited after the ekky speech i can take about an athlete who's dumb enough to insult another guy while hes drunk off as his ass in a fucking public setting
but anyways i think its really funny that i said to myself wow thats an oddly petty thing to admit to you know the whole wanting to throw a beer at his backswing ekky... for such a good vibes sweet man who like the only thing youve particularly said about the cone novella is "we'll never be buddies" to which you quickly retracted and then went "holding ill will against somebody and pulling negativity in your body is never a good thing"
and then i remembered who he attended the liv event with and it all made sense

Minors entered the sk8 race, and Reki said anything goes so that’s the consent. Adam can touch anyone.
I get that, even though it’s still weird, a different topic for another time…
What I was wondering specifically is why everyone in-universe is only worried about Adam hospitalizing people and not yknow him literally grooming Langa (on AND off the track). It’s not technically against the rules of S what he’s doing (he made the rules I don’t think there’s a way he can break them), but The GangTM still doesn’t like him because he’s an awful person. The only thing is for some reason when they talk about how they don’t like him, they ALMOST completely overlook Adam’s weird innuendos toward teenagers (except for Miya that one time cause he’s just cool like that).
There probably isn’t a real answer to this question out there yet, but maybe hopefully the creators will address it someway (hopefully put Adam in intensive THERAPY) and not have Adam just do that and everyone think it’s normal (it is not). Though if the underaged characters aren’t allowed to drink, I’d assume the rules apply to all minor-protecting laws.

man while i understand it im so tired of the attitude of "if you dont think critically of every media you like ever and if you like stuff you cant think critically about youre stupid" mentality. its so prevalent just about everywhere i go online, youd forget that its an insanely online take
#i think about that rant about cyberpunk 2077 that went around a little#where they were like 'why did everyone just forgive cd projekt red for the broken state of the game after edgerunners???'#and its like. because babe most people playing cyberpunk 2077 are bethesda rpg fans. an extremely casual#'i wanna turn my brain off for my one free hour of games after work' type people#in the modern gaming landscape cyberpunk is like. fine. all the critiques ive seen of it are just things that can be lobbed at bethesda rpgs#and theres a massive market for those#there are still people who enjoy fucking starfield man idk what to tell you. people like games where you dont have to think#like. no. most people who enjoy these games arent single celled organisms too stupid to do anything but support the awful scammy dev studio#theyre usually just people who wanna live out a power fantasy#the yes man route in new vegas is so popular!!! for a reason!!!!#its literally the 'have fun and dont think too hard about your actions' run. everyone views it as themselves saving the wasteland#idk. this is a long rant its just been grinding my gears recently#like. broken games are fun. im sorry everyone shitting on gollum was one of the best online experiences ive had in a while#like fuck dude you dont see me shitting on everyone who plays mmos as mindless zombies who are too stupid to think#just because i view mmos as below myself#you are not better than a skyrim fan because you can see the writing flaws. i can guarantee they see them too and just dont care#because skyrim is fun. sorry. it is fun its an addicting game for a reason#rant

Listening to a video game talk in the background of my work and like... were smartphones already so big in 2013? As in, widely adopted to the point of high schoolers bringing them to school? Was that an America/Western Europe thing? I know I have memory issues and 2013 just so happens to be the time that I have trouble remembering but... really? 2013? Was that a thing? Maybe it was and I just can't recall? Uhhh?
I know me not having a smartphone in like 2015 was weird, to the point where I was the 'retro tech' guy back near the end of middle school but... uh. I'm a little confused.

Is postal a smaller fandom?
Personally I consider any fandom with less than 1k fanfictions on AO3 to be a small fandom I just think it has a very active fandom rn.
I've actually had a hyperfixation on postal for a very long time (there's no way to say this without sounding very pretentious) and for a very long time there was like NO content for it whatsoever. I think it's definitely a growing fandom with more and more people joining daily but I don't think it'll ever get more than a small fandom just because of the nature of it's content especially the geniunely problematic elements of it

is the concept of virginity a thing in secret? like its something u hold onto cause its special or u just do it? i wonder if wu felt any shame for not waiting until marriage or something like that
WOW. I'm genuinely fascinated that this question is being asked!! I'm cutting it because I may have gone on a small rant at the end 😅
This is such a delicious question you have asked me. Because in Secret, I made a VERY deliberate choice to never mention the concept of virginity, or describe anyone as being 'a virgin'. I wasn't sure if it was something anyone would notice or care about, but it was very intentional.
The short answer is, No. The concept of virginity is not a thing in the world I have created for Secret.
The reason it isn't is purely because it would have been just. TOO MUCH. I literally could not handle trying to add that in. Like. The story itself was already exploring the very fraught topics of internalized homophobia and the fears around coming out. Those topics were kind of the cornerstone of the central plot of Secret. It's the reason they keep their relationship a secret! Wu basically had a whole journey where he came to terms with his sexuality and exploring and experiencing sex with a very safe person, eventually leading to him feeling comfortable with coming out for a few people.
If I wanted to throw the concept of virginity in there too...? I'm just not sure how that would have impacted everything. It also probably would have been more than I have the emotional capacity to explore. Obviously the topic of homophobia is deeply personal and painful to me, and it's been a really interesting thing to explore through writing these characters. The concept of virginity is also something deeply personal and painful to me, but for reasons I'm not sure I can articulate, I don't want to explore the concept through writing. If I ever did explore it, I'm not sure this world and these characters are how I'd want to explore it anyway.
So basically, in the headcanons I have for the avatar universe and for my fic specifically, virginity is not a thing, there's no expectations to wait to have sex until marriage, and the definition of 'sex' itself is kind of nebulous anyway. There is homophobia and heteronormativity, but it varies based on the region and the demographic of people. Where homophobia does exist, the origins are based mostly out perceptions of what's 'natural', tradition, expectations around having children, and keeping up appearances so as not to shame your family/people.
But the act of having sex itself does not hold any deep significance in any of the cultures of the avatar-verse, not the way I imagine it.
I'm sure it doesn't need to be said, but I'll say it anyway because I love shouting this from the rooftops. Virginity, (as in; the concept that there is something about yourself that you can 'lose' by having sex), is not real. There is nothing different about a person before and after they have sex for the first time. The definition of sex itself is dependent on the people involved and how they themselves define having sex. Virginity has historically been nothing more than an imagined state of being unfairly burdening women and used to objectify, control and commodify them.
If someone considers themselves a virgin because they have not had sex, I would never try to disagree with that. You can label yourself however you want! But the overall concept of virginity is a construct. Nothing changes about you physically if you have sex. the only way that sex can change someone's body is if it results in a pregnancy. It's possible that having sex with someone can result in emotional changes but that's not a universal truth.
I'm sorry that was probably an unnecessary amount of detail to answer this ask 😅 No, Wu's not feeling and shame around having sex before marriage. At first he was solely struggling with being gay, and admitting his feelings for and having sex with Mako started him on his journey to shed his internalized homophobia and becoming comfortable with himself and his sexuality. But at no point did he think that he had 'lost' his virginity and feel any guilt or shame about having sex to begin with.
