i was going to reblog that post with someone conflating out of touch karens with "slavery quinoa vegans" but interestingly they turned off reblogs. but i didn't write this all for nothing
literally the first result on google when searching "slavery quinoa":
Debunking the myths around vegans and quinoa production: Nonvegan Leftists are engaging in misinformation when they derail vegan advocacy with quinoa production and consumption.
This has been debunked for fucking years now. The original article that gave people (twitter) the "slavery quinoa" idea doesn't mention slavery, human trafficking, or even exploited laborers. The farmers themselves actually had somewhat of an economic boom. The issue they mention is that it became expensive for consumers in countries where it's grown. There's also no source that shows vegetarians/vegans eating more quinoa than anyone else.
sorry if it sounds annoying but people making posts about how "nobody knows how food production works outside their immediate community" usually don't know much about food production outside of their immediate community either. which is kind of the point of the post anyway. i'm not even bringing up a new argument here it's just weird to see posts perform their own thesis
anyway please just fucking stop saying "slavery quinoa" forever already.
#sorry to those who feel annoyed by the tone of the first link. but like not really. it has decent sources#tg even had to add a disclaimer on their article like 'we found out it's not vegans eating all the soy its uh. 97% for livestock.'#like yeah no shit! no metric shows that plant based diets are the main reason for overfarming of ANYTHING let alone soy or quinoa#im ranting

Mounting Spring Ch. 1.
Summary: Paradis has opened its doors to the world, and the Rumbling has not yet occurred. The military board insists, "We need more Ackermans!" to avoid ruining Mikasa's life. Levi agrees. Arranged marriage, explicit consent, Omegaverse. Alpha! Levi x Omega! Y/N. Mentions of underage marriage but it doesn't happen, the reader is over 21. Age gap but they are both adults. (I would say enemys to lover but they don't even know eachother to be enemys lol.) Author note: I've had this idea for so long… Omegaverse is my guilty pleasure, and I decided to treat myself with it. From the creator of "Not in season?" I bring to you "Mounting Spring" lmao haha sorry it's just that my first omegaverse was rather a success… so I decided to do another.
MASTERLIST TO ALL THE OTHER PARTS.
Link to AO3 in case you prefer to read it there.
The papers were passed around the Military board members, each set handed off in tense silence. The room’s air had cooled quickly as the sun dipped below the horizon, making Levi’s coat, almost too heavy to bear earlier, feel suddenly necessary. The chill seeped through the old walls, hinting that a bit of heating might soon be in order.
With methodical precision, Levi slammed the stack of reports against the wooden table to align them perfectly, every edge sharp and in place. He moved aside the sticky notes he’d scribbled on hours before, crossing off the last item on his to-do list with finality. Job done for the day—
“Well, that’s it,” he muttered, eager to leave the stale room behind.
A pointed clearing of someone’s throat halted him, making him glance up slowly. Levi’s senses flared; he wasn’t done after all. The tension thickened, and the air shifted to something more ominous. His gaze travelled around the table, landing on each board member’s face. Some looked uncomfortable, others entertained, as if they’d been anticipating this moment. Hange, seated beside him despite their role as Commander now, avoided his eye, their head lowered in apparent resignation. Recent meetings had seen the appearance of new, vaguely unsettling faces, like Kiyomi's, who now looked across the table with a subtle smile.
“Captain,” Zackly’s voice rasped as he cleared his throat yet again.
“The day’s agenda is finished,” Levi stated, irritation biting at his words. The official telegram had detailed the topics to be discussed, all of which they’d already addressed. Anything beyond that, he knew, was meant to be cleared with the entire board beforehand.
“This was a last-minute matter,” a Military Police officer interjected, though the smirk twitching at his lips betrayed more amusement than urgency.
“Captain,” Zackly called again, knitting his fingers together. “You know we’ve always valued your dedication to Paradis.”
The pause was rehearsed, the words strangely formal, making Levi’s eyes narrow. “What the hell is going on?” cutting through the man’s attempt at civility.
“Let the Commander finish,” Kiyomi insisted, her voice smooth and elegant, though tinged with a superiority that grated on him.
“We wouldn’t have managed to retake Wall Maria without your bravery—”
“A lot of people sacrificed themselves for that,” Levi replied sharply, cutting off the praise that felt, at best, patronizing. “Including the previous Commander, Erwin. No need to thank me.”
“Nevertheless,” Zackly forged on, tiring of the interruptions, “without your skill, all those sacrifices might have been in vain. Not only did you dare to fight for Eren’s retrieval from the Female Titan and against the former tyrannical regime, but—”
“It wasn’t just me. My squad and the brat over there were in it too.”
The tone of the conversation was growing increasingly uneasy, the excessive praise no longer just annoying him but setting off alarms.
“Quite right. You and Mikasa were essential in humanity’s progress,” Kiyomi added, eyeing Levi with a calculating gaze. As her look shifted back to Zackly, Levi’s own attention followed.
“What we mean to say is… even if Paradis positions itself favourably in the new world, more capable individuals like you and Mikasa would be ideal assets for our success.” Zackly straightened in his chair, clearing his throat for the third time, making Levi wonder if the man needed water—or to finally give up smoking like a chimney. “Have you ever considered marriage, Captain?”
The question hit him like a bucket of ice water. It was so absurd Levi could only scoff. “What?”
“How old are you now?” Zackly continued, feigning casual curiosity. “Thirty-three? Thirty-four? A prime age, I’m sure. And for a high-breed alpha like you—”
Behind him, low chuckles began to echo from the MPs, each one making Levi’s grip on the chair’s arm tighten.
‘This is a trap.’
“Whatever it is you’re implying, I I suggest you rethink it,” Levi spat, the weight of their words starting to settle.
“Let’s be frank,” Kiyomi leaned forward, hands placed firmly on the table. “Captain, we once thought the Ackermans extinct, only to discover Paradis has not one but two. Even Zeke couldn’t deny that meeting you at Shiganshina was... less than pleasant.”
“Of course,” Levi replied dryly. “I beat that monkey’s ass.”
“Exactly.” The dark-haired woman showed no amusement, her voice all business. “To the point, then: we intend to provide you with a suitable wife to ensure that you bless this island with as many Ackermans as she’s capable of bearing.”
Levi shot to his feet. “You must be out of your damned mind if you think I’d agree to this. I’m not here to be used as a breeding tool.”
“Oh, but you wouldn’t be the one doing the birthing,” an MP remarked with a smirk as the rest of the board broke their facades, amusement flashing in their eyes. All but Hange, who looked as if they might vanish into their seat.
“You’re insane,” Levi snarled, preparing to leave, feeling insulted to his core. “You can use Historia as your political pawn as much as you want, but I’m not some 17-year-old girl at your disposal—”
“Think of it as a service to your country,” Zackly replied coolly.
“I serve this island every damned day,” Levi snapped, baring his teeth. With a sharp slap, he pressed his papers against the table and strode toward the door, signaling his utter rejection of the idea.
“If you won’t consider it…” Kiyomi's calm, piercing voice halted him at the door, the threat clear. “Then we’ll turn to the only other Ackerman left.”
Levi stilled, staring at the golden knob in his hand, fury boiling in his veins. He wasn’t about to fall for this.
“Mikasa is too valuable to be reduced to a broodmare.”
“She’s a girl of duty,” Kiyomi replied, a note of satisfaction in her voice. “Something you seem to lack. And she’s an alpha. I’m certain she could bear at least one healthy child before returning to the battlefield.”
Levi clicked his tongue, pushing open the door with disdain. ‘Who the hell do they think I am?’ Hands stuffed in the pockets of his coat, he stormed down the royal city’s military headquarters hallways, curses slipping from his lips. The whole idea was absurd; they’d lost their minds if they thought he’d even consider it.
As Levi stormed down the dim corridor, every step sharp and swift, he couldn’t shake the rancor rising within him. The brazenness of it all, to drag him into their twisted ambitions with such flippant disregard for his will—and then to threaten Mikasa. The audacity alone made his fists clench.
He barely noticed Hange keeping pace with him until their arm was outstretched, catching him by the shoulder.
“Levi,” Hange began softly. Their usual spark was subdued, gaze serious, and voice almost apologetic. “I know you’re furious. I knew this would be hell to hear, but I didn’t know how else to—”
“Save it.” Levi shrugged their hand off, glowering. “You knew, didn’t you? That they were going to bring this shit up?”
Hange hissed, as if asking them to confessed was almost painful. “Yes… I knew.”
Levi gritted his teeth, eyes dark with betrayal. “You agreed to this?” Both of them whispering on the empty cold halls of the building.
“I… didn’t agree,” Hange answered carefully. “But I was there when the discussion happened. Look, Zackly and the others—” Hange hesitated, running a hand through their hair. “They’re dead set on this idea. They think they’re planning for a stronger Paradis, and if they think that means Ackerman bloodlines—”
“Save the speech.” Levi’s tone was sharp. “They can be dead set on whatever they please, but I'd like to see them drag the entire MP battalion if they want to force me into this.”
The past year had hardly been easy on either of them, especially Hange with their new title as Commander. Levi was well aware of this—yet the sense of betrayal cut deep. “For fuck’s sake, Hange, you could’ve warned me.”
A tense silence hung between them, until Hange finally sighed and adjusted their glasses, pressing on the bridge of their nose. “You think I had a say in this? Kiyomi's paying for the entire coastal expansion and the railway. She thought it was a decent idea, and with her money backing it, she’s got the final word on everything.”
Levi clicked his tongue, crossing his arms in exasperation. “Those bastards in the upper ranks are just itching to get on my last nerve since we changed the policies.”
“Look, I know it sounds—insane. But maybe… if we don’t try to protect the future of the island, there won’t be one. And if there’s a way to keep the Ackerman bloodline alive, maybe there’s value in that…”
“Don’t give me that bloodline nonsense.” Levi’s tone was ice-cold, his gaze sharp. “This is some harebrained scheme they’ve cooked up. And let me guess: it reeks of Zeke. That bearded bastard’s across the ocean, and he’s still screwing with my life.”
Hange pressed their lips together, saying nothing. The silence was confirmation enough.
“That son of a bitch,” Levi cursed under his breath. “He’s the one with royal blood, not me.”
Hange’s lips twitched in something close to sympathy.
“Well, since you two are such good friends these days, feel free to let him know he can kiss my ass.”
“Levi…” Hange sighed, not because they disagreed but because Levi’s sense of betrayal cut both ways. They were the last two left of the original veterans—family in all but name. It wasn’t just an argument; it felt like a wound between them.
Convincing Levi? Impossible. But convincing her? That possibility hung in the air, lingering like a storm on the horizon. Levi paced with conviction at first, then with dread. They both knew it, and, worse, Zeke likely knew it too. Mikasa had just turned seventeen, still almost a child, recently visited by someone claiming kinship with her clan. Levi couldn’t care less about all the ancestral politics, but he was all too aware of how they worked.
“You can choose whoever you wish for the father,” they had told her, as if it was some generous offer. And, step by step, he watched Mikasa’s face transform from disgust to something akin to acceptance. Perhaps it was because she, too, held a certain pedigree; perhaps she felt duty-bound. He didn’t know, and he didn’t care what methods they used to sway her.
‘She’s smarter than that,’ he tried to tell himself.
But then he overheard Historia, almost childishly enthusiastic, whispering to Mikasa, “See? I told you—we’re girls with responsibilities.” The blood drained from his face. If they’d managed to convince Historia, to make her some kind of pawn in their twisted ambitions, what was stopping them from pulling Mikasa down the same path?
‘It’s disgusting,’ he thought bitterly. ‘Maybe this is how those classist bastards operate. They talk little girls into this like they’re just trading dolls for something more ‘exciting.’’
That night, back in his office, Levi was a restless storm, pacing the room with his suit jacket hanging loose, fingers curled around his glass of whiskey, his movements sharp and frustrated. The glow of his cigarette flared in the dark room as he took a deep drag, gritting his teeth.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
Slouched in his chair, forearm draped over his eyes, his mind circled back to Mikasa’s hesitant, almost innocent blush—her teenage imagination painting a faint, rosy tint over whatever twisted future she thought she might face. And in his mind, as if staring him down, were Eren’s haunted eyes, that deadened look of someone who already knew more than he could say. Maybe the brat already knew Levi wouldn’t let it happen.
“She’s a damn kid,” he muttered. The thought of Mikasa shouldering this burden felt like a betrayal of his own values.
Though technically, she was not much younger than many girls who’d borne children before. But this felt different, disturbing— He let out a humourless chuckle, as a man that waits for getting hang. “Those bastards knew… I wouldn’t let them ruin her life like that.”
And like a cursed prophecy that tightened its grip the more one tried to escape it, Levi found himself back in that same damned office, slouched in his chair as if seated at a poker table. Bargaining his future.
Levi sat stiffly across from the military board, his expression a blend of frustration and disgust as they spoke. Zackly lounged in his chair, lazily smoking as the other officials presented folders adorned with detailed painted portraits, lists of family properties, and who knows what else. As they laid the offers on the table, a random thought clouded Levi’s mind: It feels like searching for a button that matches at the notions store.
He was reminded of long strips of fabric with various buttons sewn onto them, each one a potential fit. “Many of the noble families are eager to show their loyalty to the new government,” one officer stated with a practiced calmness. “Some have offered up alliances in exchange for the return of their territories and titles. This includes a number of unclaimed young omegas. You’ll have ample choices.”
Levi’s jaw clenched. He knew they expected him to appear grateful for the options lined up before him, as if he were selecting a new weapon. Instead, he leaned back, crossing his arms tightly. “I’ll be imposing some conditions.”
They paused, exchanging glances. “Naturally, Captain,” one of the men replied, steepling his fingers.
“No fancy bullshit,” Levi declared. “The wedding will be plain. Just a civil ceremony. I have no intention of making a spectacle out of this.”
The room fell silent, the officers exchanging looks that spoke volumes. One of them cleared his throat, hesitating before responding. “Captain, you should consider—”
“I’m not considering anything,” Levi interrupted, his tone sharper than before. “This is a plain arrangement, and it will remain exactly that. I don’t need fanfare or ceremonies—just a quiet signing of papers.”
The officers shifted uncomfortably, their discomfort palpable as they struggled to reconcile Levi’s cold practicality with their expectations. “Think of the girl. Many young omegas dream of their wedding day, waiting for it their whole lives. It’s—” a female alpha soldier attempted to be the voice of reason, but Levi was clearly listening to none of it.
“No buts,” Levi said, his patience wearing thin. “If I’m going to go through with this ridiculous arrangement, it will be on my terms. I’m not dragging this girl through some overblown ceremony when neither of us wants to be there.”
With a loud sigh, Levi lifted himself slightly from his seat to grab the portfolios. He barely looked at them, frowning deeply. “Don’t you have pictures where they look— I don’t know—human?” he spat out sarcastically, noting how overly produced their painted portraits appeared.
“That’s what’s in fashion,” one officer muttered defensively.
Groaning in disinterest, Levi rolled his eyes. “Nobles and their weird tastes.” But as he turned the next page to examine the descriptions, it was as if the world had tilted off its axis. “Sixteen,” he muttered, irritation creeping into his voice. He looked up, venom lacing his words. “You’re offering me sixteen-year-old girls? Girls who could be my damn daughters?”
“It’s common, you know—”
“I don’t care what’s common. Twenty-five,” Levi interjected. “At least twenty-five. I’m not getting tied to a child.”
“Come on,” an exhausted soldier exclaimed, “some are seventeen, eighteen—”
“Twenty-five,” Levi snapped, his eyes blazing. “I’m not interested in any of this unless you bring me someone who isn’t still in their childhood.”
“Be realistic,” Zackly finally spoke up, looking weary and disinterested. “How many omegas do you know that aren’t claimed by twenty-five?”
“Fuck if I know; that’s your job to find out, not mine.” Levi’s anger flared, echoing in the sterile room. “Weren’t you the one telling me to think of the girl? Don’t you think of her?”
“Why? Are you planning on hurting her?” Zackly questioned, raising an eyebrow.
“Fuck no.”
“Then I’m not concerned. Choose one and stop being a pain in the ass.”
It was clear they were not going to reach any middle ground like this. Amid the hastily scribbled notes, he noticed a name: Y/N, age twenty-one. He pointed decisively at the line, cutting through the cacophony of voices. “That one.”
There was no picture, no description—nothing. Perhaps it should have raised suspicions, but Levi was too tired for this cheap drama.
“Why her?” one member scoffed, glancing at the paper. “We have better offers on the table.”
Levi didn’t hesitate. “She’s the oldest.” He placed both hands on the table, pushing himself upward. He had made up his mind the night before; he just needed this to be over. Striding toward the door, he exited without allowing anyone to stop him. As he walked out of the conference room, he could hear the murmurs behind him.
As the door shut firmly, one of the cadets held the papers against his chest, confusion written all over his face. Slowly, he turned to the higher-ranking officer. “Shouldn’t we tell him that she’s scheduled to marry this weekend to her childhood fiancé?”
Zackly chuckled, flicking the ashes from his cigarette into the ashtray. Between coughs, he said, “Oh well, he can find out from her once they’re both married. It’s no longer my problem.”

easy | lee minho oneshot
pairing: lee minho x reader
prompt: “did i do something? why are you suddenly acting so distant?” “just… because.” link to post here
genre: angst, fluff at the end, nonidol!au, kinda grumpy x sunshine, friends to lovers
word count: 1.6k
a/n: …idk what i wrote lmao. this is what happens when im in my missing minho hours. anw as always if you liked it pls reblog, comment, or send an ask and share your thoughts and feedback! also thank you to @dumplingsjinson for the prompt that inspired me to write this!
minho hates you. he hates you for making him fall in love with you. this wasn’t supposed to happen. this was all your fault. yes, your stupid smile and your stupid laugh and the way your eyes twinkle every time you look at him is the reason why he’s currently spiralling from his emotions.
despite his aloof attitude towards you, there was never a day where you failed to annoy him, even in the slightest. before, it was easy to just brush you off every time you try to get his attention. so easy to ignore the members whenever they talk about you. everything was easy back then. why couldn’t you just take the hint?
when you greet him enthusiastically so early in the morning, which he would usually just roll his eyes at, now makes his heart beat faster than it should have. and unlike before, his attention would instantly be diverted to the person who so much as just mentions your name.
he’s actually starting to think he likes spending more time with you, and not just as friends anymore. which is why he stopped hanging out with you. so when you suddenly appear before him outside of his apartment at eight pm on a friday, he knew he was fucked.
“hey…” you greeted him, and minho notices you slightly shiver from the cold. he gently grabs your arm and pulls you inside so you both don’t suffer from the harsh weather. after he closes the door, he turns to see that you were already sitting comfortably on his couch. another reason why he hates you is because of all the fond memories you both shared on that same damn couch. movie nights and cuddling were only some of the things he despised, recalling those memories where his heart fluttered the most.
“so, uhm, it’s been a while huh?” you lightly chuckle, but it was different to the usual joyful tone it had. now it seem more dejected. “you haven't been answering my calls lately, is there something wrong?”
he didn’t know how to answer that because yes something was wrong, but not in the way you think. he just settled with a simple shake of his head and plops down on the couch next to the one you were sitting on. it was hard not to notice the amount of space between the two of you, however the both of you don’t mention it.
“don’t worry about it, i was just busy so i couldn’t answer your calls.” to further prove his claim, he points to the copious amounts of paperwork stacked on top of each other on the coffee table. it was true that he was busy with work, but he always made time for you despite that. though he didn’t know that his feelings for you would be deeper than just a friend he would occasionally be annoyed at.
“minho, i’m not stupid. i know you’re ignoring me.” of course you’d catch on immediately, it was you after all.
“well if you knew that, then why are you here?” minho’s words come out a lot meaner than he expected, and he immediately regrets it once he sees the look of hurt flash in your eyes.
“sorry, it’s just that a lot has been going on lately and i—”
“did I do something? why are you suddenly acting so distant?” you cut him off, feeling frustrated at your friend’s lack of communication. you start to stand up from the couch to get closer to him, but minho was two steps ahead as he gets up first and heads to his kitchen. you follow him there and see that he took out a glass and poured himself some water to drink. you’re not sure why, but you think it’s just to prolong him from answering your question.
“minho please, i miss you! i miss hanging out with my friend, don’t you miss me too?” you plead, and minho’s facade breaks. his eyes soften and he puts the glass down so could walk closer to you. he stops right in front of you and moves his hand to caress your hair. you lean in to his touch, already missing the way his fingers would comb your hair soothingly. minho just smiles at your reaction before pulling away slowly.
“of course i miss you yn,”
“everything was fine so why are you doing this? why are you avoiding me?” yes, everything was fine and easy until you decided to mess with his heart. but you didn’t know that.
“just… because.” you scoff at his explanation, resisting the urge to smack him for not giving you a clear answer.
“because what minho? am i too annoying for you? do i talk too loudly? what is it minho!? i can’t take this any more, i thought we were friends—”
“and that’s exactly why!” you stop, and minho takes this as an opportunity to finally let it out.
“the reason why i stopped hanging out with you is because i don’t want to be friends anymore! don’t you see yn? i like you! hell, i’m in love with you! but i don’t want to be because i know you don't feel the same way. i mean, why would you? all i do is just say mean things to you.” minho breathes out a sigh and watches as you take in all the words he just said. however, he was too scared of your rejection, so he moved past you and headed towards the living room. you were still too stunned to move so you stay rooted in the kitchen.
“please just forget everything i just told you and i promise i won't ignore you anymore.” minho almost raps as he maneuvers his way towards the coffee table and he distracts himself by arranging his paperwork. some part of him wants you to just accept that and go home, but the other, more hopeful side, wishes for you not to forget and return his feelings too.
when you arrive at the living room, you see minho crouched down beside the coffee table. you quickly grab his arm, startling him from the sudden contact. you pull him up and give him time to regain his balance before giving your side.
“what if i don’t wanna forget?” minho only looks confused, so you elaborate further. “what if i don’t wanna forget that you like me? what if i like you too, have you ever considered that?”
you almost laugh at the comedic look on minho’s face as his eyes suddenly widen in shock. you don’t, instead you grab his chin and pull him down towards you. your lips touched and it was still for a moment before he finally kissed you back. only then do you both pull away from lack of oxygen. your arms wrap around his neck to pull him closer and you rest your forehead against each other’s.
“so… does this mean we’re dating now?”
“do friends go around kissing each other like that?” you quirk an eyebrow and minho shakes his head at your sarcasm. it seems like he’s finally rubbing off on you.
“no they don’t.”
“good, ‘cause i don’t want you kissing your friends like that.” you both laugh and minho lifts you off the ground to spin you around, causing you to squeal in surprise.
“for the record, i don’t want you kissing your friends like that either.” after putting you down, minho gives you his signature smirk before kissing you once more and wrapping you up in a hug.
“and to answer your question, i’m in love with you too. so yes, we are dating.” you can’t stop grinning as minho continues to hug you, but he abruptly pulls away, causing you to look at him with confusion written in your features. he suddenly seems anxious, but he collects himself and takes a deep breath before talking.
“i’m just going to have to warn you that i may not be the best boyfriend in the world. i get moody a lot and say a lot of sarcastic things that may come off as rude. there are also times where i—“ he stops rambling after he hears laughter coming from you. he gives you a look that resembles an offended cat and you all but acknowledge it as you wipe away the tear that came out of your eye.
you cradle minho’s face with both of your hands, and he looks at you with such pureness in his big eyes that you can’t help but fall in love with him more.
“minho, i already know that you are all of those things, yet i still stuck around because i love you despite all of that, and i will continue to do so until you run out of snarky things to say,” you tease, and it gets a small smile from him.
“you’re right. if you were tired of me, you would’ve already dropped me while we were still friends.” minho jokes and you hum in response, giving him a peck to his cheek. you intertwine your fingers with his and with your other hand, run your fingers through his hair. “yes now stop worrying about that, you still owe me all the movie nights we missed because you’re an idiot.”
minho only replies with a laugh, silently agreeing that he is indeed an idiot. it surprises him how easily you break him free of his worries. and that despite everything that just happened, you still manage to crack his walls. but he guesses that’s how love works, it makes everything so much easier.

i wrote my first f1 rpf fic and it's landoscar fluff
1.6k, fluff without plot, mutual pining, napping together | ao3 link | full text under cut
“That looks comfy,” Lando says with his usual calm cheer as he enters the lounge area on the second floor of their hospitality building.
No ‘hello’s, no ‘how’s it going’s, but Oscar doesn’t find it rude. As someone who’s always hated small talk, he likes that they’re comfortable enough with each other that they don’t need all that extra fluff.
He raises his eyes from the e-reader he’s got propped up on his chest and realises he’s slid into a position that’s admittedly uncharacteristically slouchy for him—his head wedged in the corner between the back cushions and the armrest, his body draped half across the sofa, and his legs, crossed in a figure four, pressed against the coffee table so he doesn’t slide further down.
“It is,” he says, his dry tone offset by the small smirk that automatically curls his lips whenever his teammate is around.
“Let's see,” Lando responds, matching his tone and expression, as he walks towards the loveseat Oscar is occupying.
Oscar might argue that all the other seats in the room are free and Lando doesn’t really need to encroach on his personal space, but he won’t. Instead, he starts moving to make space for him.
“No, no, stay,” Lando says, gesturing to him to wait.
Oscar slightly frowns, confused about how Lando is planning to fit in the small space remaining on the sofa, but still obeys and stops moving.
With his usual floppy grace, Lando falls heavily in the space next to Oscar, and then, in a swift movement, turns sideways to throw his legs over the armrest and lie his head down on Oscar’s belly.
Oscar inhales sharply and produces a little half-hearted ‘ow’ at the sudden pressure, trying very hard to ignore the way it makes his stomach somersault.
“Sorry,” Lando chirps, throwing a gleaming glance and insincere grin up at him, and Oscar really hopes he can’t see the flush on his cheeks from that angle.
They stare at each other for a moment, Oscar still frowning at Lando’s insufferably cute puppy eyes, but Oscar’s annoyance at his inability to deny his teammate anything is not strong enough to actually make him push him away. Ironically, this time, the little grating voice at the back of his mind that frequently mocks him for his stupid crush is drowned out by his racing heart, so it stings less than usual.
So, even as he shakes his head, not so much at Lando as at how pathetically pliant he is when it comes to giving in to Lando’s whims, he shrugs and sighs and relaxes again, letting the weight of Lando’s head fully sink into his abs. At that, Lando, too, visibly untenses, and Oscar privately appreciates how his teammate is not as thoughtless as he may seem. He knows he would have definitely moved if Oscar had been uncomfortable with the contact, and he can see in his softened expression that Lando is glad—happy and relieved—that he let him stay.
As if there was ever a time Oscar didn’t want Lando around, Oscar silently scoffs at the both of them, no matter how annoying he could get.
With another small sigh, he tries to breathe those thoughts away and get back to his book, while Lando pulls out his phone. It’s hard at the beginning, as he keeps getting distracted by Lando, his long fingers tapping fast on the screen as he responds to the messages he’s probably been ignoring for days or the changes on his face as he scrolls through various social media apps. Eventually, however, Lando pops in his earbuds and opens Youtube, so Oscar moves the e-reader so that he can’t see Lando’s phone and can finally focus back on reading, even with all the little movements and noises Lando makes as he reacts to whatever he’s watching.
Caught up in his novel, Oscar doesn’t notice how close his left hand is to Lando’s head, nor how, when he feels the brush of his hair on his fingers, he moves entirely out of instinct to sink his hand into it and start dragging his nails lightly across his scalp, completely forgetting that the warm weight on his belly is his teammate’s head and not some kind of pet.
When he finishes a chapter and briefly snaps out of his focus to check how many more he’s got left, he realises that Lando has been unusually still for a while, so he moves his device to check on him and is struck by a mix of paralyzing horror and heart-melting endearment when he sees him fast asleep, his phone dropped face-down on his chest with his hands abandoned next to it and his head nestled comfortably in Oscar’s shirt, facing upwards and leaning into the hand that Oscar has since fully tangled in his curls.
The only reason he doesn’t panic is that he doesn’t want to wake him up.
So, even as his face flames up with embarrassment, he forces himself to gently let out the breath bottled up in his chest, and then stills, unsure of what to do while a flurry of questions and doubts rages in his mind.
Did he really just unwittingly pet Lando to sleep? Did Lando think he was doing it on purpose? And if he did, why didn’t he stop him? Like sure, they’ve been getting steadily closer, but they’re not that close yet, right? Wouldn’t Lando have been weirded out by that? Though if he was, Oscar knows, he would have definitely said something, even if just to tease him. So, why didn’t he say anything?
Perhaps, Oscar tries to reason, he was simply enjoying it enough that he didn’t care about it being strange. Then, his fear spikes again when he thinks that Lando might have thought it was normal for Oscar to just casually do something like that to a friend. Worst of all, Oscar doesn’t even know whether that’s true or not. There has never been anyone in his life with whom he’s had the same relationship he has with Lando, and honestly, he doesn’t fully know what kind of person he becomes around Lando anymore, after two years of channelling his pining into being more friendly and open and funny and relaxed.
Ever since he joined Mclaren, the flood of papaya orange into his world came with the shifting teal of Lando’s ever-sparkling eyes, the light tan of his skin, the flashing white of his smiles and the warm brown of his curls, the ones Oscar still has wrapped around his fingers the way he often feel himself wrapped around Lando’s.
He didn’t really have any say in the matter. When Lando waltzed into his life, immediately insufferable about finally being the older driver in the team but also effortlessly funny and endlessly thoughtful and unreasonably attractive, Oscar really had no chance to escape the curse of the rookie crush.
Except, this whole mess has lasted far beyond his rookie season.
He feels the full weight of it right now, as he looks down and his heart brims with gooey fondness while he watches Lando sleep and can’t make himself remove his hand from his hair, mostly out of fear of disturbing him but also because he just wants to enjoy this comfortable closeness without having to hide his feelings.
Before Oscar can examine his emotions any deeper, he’s distracted by Lando, who stirs in his sleep and turns slightly toward the backrest before snuggling his face closer against Oscar’s abs and hand with a little whine. Trying hard to ignore the affection straining the seams of his heart and the low heat pooling in his gut, Oscar focuses on plucking Lando’s phone from his chest, as gently as he can despite his trembling hands, before it can slide down and startle him awake. He checks the time on it and sees that they still have more than an hour until their dinner reservation at the hotel. Maybe he can take a nap as well, since he sure wouldn’t be able to read anymore.
Fuck it, he thinks as he sets Lando’s phone on the armrest together with his e-reader.
Careful not to jostle Lando, he shifts his weight to find a comfortable position for his head to rest against the cushions without straining his neck. Once he’s found it, he takes a deep, shaky breath to release the muscles he didn’t even realise he was tensing, and lets his hands fall, his left still sunk in Lando’s hair, gently scratching at his scalp again, and his right on Lando’s chest, next to Lando’s own.
If Lando says something when they wake, he’ll swear he didn’t do it on purpose, and if Lando knows he’s lying, he’s now pretty sure he won’t be annoying about it, not if he wants Oscar to give him more head scritches in the future.
That thought, more warmth and closeness in his future with Lando, together with his teammate’s slow breathing and the comforting press of his body, finally manages to soothe the remnants of panic in Oscar’s mind, and gently lull him to sleep.
***
A little while later, when Lando stirs awake, he shields himself from the glare of the overhead lights by turning his face into his pillow, and it takes him a few seconds longer than it should have to realise, from its strange texture and warmth and gentle rhythmic movement, that it’s not a pillow at all.
Startled, he looks up, and his heart skips one beat when he sees Oscar, another when he feels the hand resting on his head, and a third when he sees their fingers interlaced over his chest.
Fuck.
He’s napped in some weird places before, and woken up in embarassing situations many many times, but this one is definitely in the top three of both rankings.
Floored, he stares at his sleeping teammate, half of him cringing hard at the entire situation he’s in, while the other privately swoons over how cute Oscar is when he sleeps.
Lying there, unable to decide what his next action should be, he’s forced to acknowledge that the delightful contentedness he felt upon waking was entirely Oscar’s doing, which is weird but not impossibly so, and, much more strangely, that all this physical contact is giving him some warm fuzzy feelings, fluttering somewhere between his heart and his stomach, that he’s very not ready to confront.
Well, shit, he thinks. Dinner will be awkward as hell.

Nothing witty to preface this update with today, I just love Fayteos. AO3 update in a link, full fic tagged on my blog, newest chapter below!
so i may as well ditch my dismay | part 2/?
cws: depression mention
.
The next time Faye saw him, he had patched a battered cloak from the Traveler’s camp and attached some of the wolf fur to it. It made him look a lot less like a bear and a lot more like a random wanderer. He could have been anyone, had it not been for his skin tone and those piercing golden eyes. “Good hunting today?” she called from a safe distance.
Fárbauti’s gaze shot up to her, his body moving to shield the snare he was checking. He relaxed when he saw that it was her–not much, but enough. At least he trusted she wouldn’t steal from him. “Hmm,” he grunted. “Well enough.” He finished removing his catch from the snare. “You’re far from home.”
“I needed a change,” Faye admitted. She’d started feeling that sense of wrongness again. The trees of her forest had started to blend together, life started to blend together. She needed to see other trees, other places, to remind herself that the world still existed. “Wanted to get out before the snow started.”
“Soon?”
“I think so.” She couldn’t say for sure, but something in her gut said that it would be soon. The clouds lingered longer. The air was sharp with cold, and frost clung to most surfaces in the mornings. She could feel it pinching her cheekbones as they spoke. “Anyone giving you any trouble?”
The question earned her another grunt–no, this was more of a huff. Not quite a laugh, but it seemed like the question had amused him. “No,” he said. “You?”
“I’ve been all right.” The last bit of trouble she’d gotten into had been that Traveler, and that was something she’d sought out herself. “Be careful, though. The cold always brings out the worst in people. They get desperate.”
Though of course, once the words were out of her mouth, Faye realized how ridiculous they must have sounded. Fárbauti was built like a mountain. People might be desperate, but very few were actively stupid. There was still some risk assessment involved. If it were her, she’d think twice before trying to steal from him. No wonder he’d laughed earlier.
He didn’t laugh again. Instead, he asked, “Are there…other threats I should know of?”
Faye wasn’t sure why she was so taken aback. He must have worked out that she lived here. If he was new to the area, he’d want to ask her. “The frost trolls become more active,” she said, “but they’ll usually leave you alone if you leave them alone. The ogres prefer to hunker down, so just avoid any caves you aren’t familiar with. Draugr are going to be your biggest problem.”
Fárbauti’s brow creased slightly. “Draugr are…?”
“Oh, you’ve definitely seen them. Sort of look like…skeletons held together with fire?” She hunched her shoulders and imitated their growling noises. “Those?”
His face went from confused to understanding, in a very annoyed way. “Hrm.”
“Thought so.” Faye felt sorry for them, truly, but she also wished they would stop attacking her. “The tatzelwurms aren’t so active in the cold, you’ll be glad to know. Or they’re not usually.”
That was what bothered her. There was still something strange about the forests as of late. She had thought, hoped really, that it was just her imagination, that she just wasn’t used to being outside of her protective sphere anymore, but…no, something was wrong. Her first instinct, and likely the correct one, was to wonder what exactly Odin had done. There was nothing specific that pointed to Aesir nonsense, but who else could it be? Unless Fárbauti was somehow responsible. Faye didn’t think so. There was certainly something strange about him, but he didn’t seem like he was the cause of…whatever this was.
“Trying to stay fed is going to be your biggest concern. And staying warm. Speaking of…” She tilted her head back the way she’d come. “...fresh tree fell down over one of the roads back there. Wood should still be good. You can take what you want if you help me with it.”
Fárbauti stared at her again with the same confused look he’d given her before. Faye braced herself for distrust, an interrogation. Why make that offer? What do you really want? But in the end, he must have needed firewood, because he just grumbled to himself (no words, more an emotion, she guessed). “Lead the way,” he said.
Well, that was easy. She just hoped neither of them regretted it.
.
Kratos did not understand this woman. Four meetings, the first one violent, and here she was casually offering to chop wood with him. Was she mad, or just naive?
He didn’t think it was either. She seemed too stable to be mad, and there was too much weariness in her eyes for her to be naive. Perhaps this was her way of saying she found him attractive, but…no, he doubted that. Kratos hadn’t seen himself in some time, but he was sure he looked far from his best. He didn’t feel like anything worthy of attraction.
The wolves, he realized. She had been so distressed by the way they’d been slaughtered. Perhaps she only had a bleeding heart and decided he was worthy of her…what, pity? Compassion? He wasn’t, not of either. He wasn’t sure he wanted to give her the chance to learn that.
But he also wasn’t going to say “no” to easy firewood.
The tree wasn’t hard to find. Kratos was surprised to see that it was across a real path, not one of the barely-visible ones he’d traversed lately. It looked freshly cleared, too. “People moving through?” he asked, scanning their surroundings warily.
“Oh, no, just me. I just got sick of nearly tripping over myself every time I wanted to get around.” She picked her end of the tree and drew her axe. “Do not tell my blacksmith I’m doing this. I left my wood cutting axe at home.”
Kratos grunted and moved to his end.
They chopped in silence for some time. Kratos occasionally glanced her way, instinctively searching for potential threats. There were none; she kept her eyes on her work, her axe in constant, steady motion.
She was stronger than she looked. Each swing sank deep into the wood. Had that been an enemy, it would have been dead in one strike. Kratos remembered the weight of her blows during that fight and compared them to the weight now.
Had I been anyone else…
He was staring. He forced his focus back to the wood. The work was something, at least. He based the quality of his days on whether or not he accomplished anything. As much as it pained him, he’d been forced to lower his expectations on what counted as accomplishment. Today was exceptional: he had left his cave and was gathering supplies.
Two days ago, he’d barely been able to rouse himself.
Perhaps it had been longer. It was difficult to tell some days.
“Hey,” Faye called suddenly. When he glanced up, she had taken a step back and was holding up a water skin. The sun had moved, making her hair alight like a fire. “You should drink. Don’t want you falling over dead.”
Again, her words amused him. It wasn’t her fault; she had no way of knowing he’d survived far worse than minor dehydration. But if he did not stop, she may worry, perhaps even ask questions. So he embedded his axe in the tree and sat down next to it, pulling out his own water skin.
“Hungry?”
Faye was holding out some kind of cake. Kratos wasn’t, not really, but again he took the offered food to avoid suspicion. He was not in the habit of turning down food, anyway.
But most other people weren’t in the habit of offering.
He was distracted by his confusion at her actions when he took the first bite of the cake. It was…sweet. “You found honey?” he asked.
“Yeah, good find, that.” She pulled out a second cake and started eating. “I swear, the bees are getting craftier. It’s been impossible to find anything lately.” She shrugged. “Hey, if you find me some edible mushrooms, maybe we can trade?”
He couldn’t tell if she was joking or not. He also knew he didn’t need honey. It was a luxury. He didn’t have time to indulge.
But the thought did linger.
.
She might have imagined a spark of interest in his eyes at the mention of the honey. Faye knew that. That didn’t stop her from squirreling away a little container of it on her person, just in case she saw him again. She’d been planning on just giving it to him. Mushrooms would be nice to have, of course, but she wasn’t going to deny another lost soul the chance at some happiness for her own benefit. That would be cruel of her.
But when he showed up not too far from the Lake with a bundle of dried mushrooms, she wasn’t going to say no to those either.
Besides, Faye had a feeling he’d feel better about trade than charity. He still seemed suspicious whenever she was nice. This was a transaction. Much easier to accept.
And, if she wanted to be practical about it, the exchange did open up some possibilities.
“If there’s anything you think you’ll need, I can keep an eye out,” she said, “if you can find more than these. I must have picked everything in my part of the woods.”
Fárbauti grunted. His gaze had stayed fixed on the honey. Faye wondered if he’d be willing to accept a little bit of bread as part of the next trade. Say I made too much? Burn a little? She’d definitely helped more than a few stubborn people back when she was more active. Surely one of the tactics would work with him.
“...I haven’t…” He glanced her way, then looked back at the honey. “...had luck with fishing.”
Well, that was fortunate. She was starting to get good at it again. “I think I can help with that.”
And that was how it went on and off as winter started to settle in. If she needed something she couldn’t find in her woods, she passed it off to him. In exchange, he would tell her something he couldn’t find. They started meeting near the lake, near the tree they’d trimmed down to clear the road, near the river that ran past his cave. Sometimes, it wasn’t even on purpose; there were just only so many places on this side of the lake that were safe to move around, so many paths one could take. Theirs always seem to intersect with each other.
Honestly, Faye couldn’t say she minded.

Bat- my guy- I know I haven’t posted here in a hot minute- but my brain is just all foolish rn (for obvious reasons- considering our chats over discord, lol)
So now I’m curious- what tf do you think he’d do with like- an electric eel hybrid as an s/o?
Cause- They’d have the zappy as well
(Take your time with this- Istg- if you don’t-)
🇬✨
Zappy time! Zappy time! Enjoy!~
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first time you met Foolish, you were shy, hiding behind the ocean's rocks that made up your home. Defensive responses and being rather vague despite his friendly demeanor made you feel a small spark of guilt. Over time, you warmed up to him, realizing his intentions were genuine and he had no desire to harm you or your already fragile home.
The days where the two of you saw each other became more and more frequent. You would lightly tease him with a small zap to his shoulder about how he was making time to come and see you despite his building schedule. You watched his cheeks burn bright red, a spark of its own stirring in your chest.
You would be lying if you hadn't caught yourself thinking of the shark hybrid more often recently. How he could feel to hug, to kiss, to...and that's as far as you would let yourself get. And it seemed those feelings weren't as one-sided as you had once thought.
You felt a small jolt against your hand, tingles of electricity crackling across your palm. Your eyes widened, your gaze shooting up to meet emerald orbs. All emotional crises were set aside in that moment as you immediately blurt, "You're part electric eel too?!" You were bewildered; you knew Foolish was part totem of undying and part shark. Yet to find someone who was also hybrid of your species too, it was near unheard of.
The totem hybrid burst out laughing, his loud squeaks echoing in your ocean cavern. You blushed softly, hiding your face halfway beneath the water. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Foolish laughed, wiping tears from his eyes. "Come, come here, I'll show you why."
You swam after him as he led you back to the surface. He pulled himself out of the water and onto the sand. "Just watch," he instructed, standing a bit back from the water's edge. You shot him a slightly annoyed, yet confused look but did as he asked.
The golden skinned hybrid took a deep breath and you watched in bewilderment as the skies above you abruptly grew dark. Suddenly, lightening strikes and loud claps of thunder surrounded Foolish, like an onset storm. And just as quickly as it started, it was done, the hybrid before you flashing a sharp-toothed smile.
Your eyes were alight with curiosity, question after question flying out of your mouth. Foolish easily matched your pace, providing you answer after answer. It was only until the sun was setting that the two of you realized how late it had really gotten.
"Will I see you tomorrow?" you asked, a small twinge of sadness in your tone. The golden skinned man knelt at the water's edge, offering his pink out to you. You brought yours up, linking it with his and letting a bolt of electricity touch his pinky. Foolish let a jolt of his own run back down to meet you.
"Promise."

Re romantasy and kingdom of the wicked I totally feel you. It's always annoyed me that when women write fantasy about women it is like, automatically assumed to be YA and now with TikTok we see this weird trend of YA books written for adults not kids. A very similar thing happened with Lightlark where the first book was defended by saying it was for kids, and thus wasn't supposed to be good (which...lol) but then the second one was super Horned Up in a way that obviously was not for kids. Just make it for adults from the beginning! Adult fiction isn't scary! I feel the same about NA--why are we acting as if Adult fiction can't be written with a lighter tone? And this is not to say that YA can't have sexual content. Imho it can but that content should be written with the audience in mind and many of these books simply aren't for teens despite the label. Sorry this kinda got away from your post but I wanted to echo that im seeing what you're seeing!
No I'm glad you brought this up!
Honestly, I think that much of the fantasy romance discussion is so colored by a confusion regarding the audience. For many years, a lot of publishers really thought that the only way to sell fantasy romance or romance-adjacent fantasy was to market it as YA. I think that part of this was because, prior to that, there was a real sense of fantasy being a (nerdy) man's space. Like, women enjoyed it, but they were more a bonus than the audience, in the mind of publishing. I don't think they thought of women as the people reading GRRM or Brandon Sanderson. Certainly not Tolkien.
Whereas I believe the YA boom was often attributed to teen girls--and I say that because there was a surprising lack of YA fantasy with male protagonists, at least when I was reading it. Or solo male protagonists, at least; you might have boys thrown into an ensemble, but if there was a solo POV it was usually a girl. And of course, part of this was an extension of looking down on the female audience, right? This isn't "real" fantasy, it's for kids! Despite the fact that there is of course, thoughtful and well-written YA fantasy.
Then, as it had been happening with Twilight (and everything YA, but I think with Twilight it became this very recognized deal) adult readers became a huge part of the conversation. And I say this as an adult who read YA fantasy primarily for years--I don't think there's anything wrong with that. But I do think there has been a real issue with YA in general being taken away from its original audience. Which is a big reason why things graphic sex have become more prominent in YA. The voice of the adult reader is overshadowing the voice of the teen. (And of course, adults often have more free income to spend on these books--especially as ebooks have become so dominant. A lot teens have e-readers, a lot of them can read on apps, but many of them do not have independent bank accounts they can link to these products, which means they can't buy as freely.)
And while I think it's totally fine for adults to enjoy YA, I don't think it's okay for adults to speak over the primary audience. If you're upset that the teen books aren't giving you the adult content you want, content I think is absolutely fine to want when you read... Grow the fuck up and read adult books. Like I did lmao.
The thing is, for a lot of those readers that's going to mean transitioning to romance, because romance gives them the things they want--it's commercial, it's focused on relationships, it has sex on the page. But for a while--during the YA boom at least--I feel like there were certain authors singled out as like. Above it all. Like they were doing Writing whereas romance has long been seen as... just writing. If that. And I think a lot of readers bought into that.
(So did a lot of writers, for the record. Romance writers have drama, absolutely. But Jesus lmao. The high-handedness of YA authors on Twitter can be something ELSE. Like people, you're writing commercial fiction like all the rest of us. You aren't any better and your drama is not any more impactful.)
So, yeah. I'm glad to see fantasy romance for adults becoming more of a thing, because I personally feel that many authors probably wanted to write for adults, but were pushed to age down by agents and publishers. (Understandably, for agents.) But the transition can be tricky, because I do think the automatic assumption many readers still have is "fantasy with kissing" = YA fantasy. I saw Kerri Mansicalco on Insta being like "we are trying to be very clear that these standalones are adult". To me, these Kingdom of the Wicked books read as soooo adult lol. And it almost seems like you can read the transition in real time. Which is so interesting.

‘There it is,’ Chishiya snickered with amusement, as if he had anticipated the topics of tonight's meeting. Kuina widened with intrigue her eyes as she leaned in closer to the radio. I couldn’t help but feel uneasy, not understanding what about this meeting had caught their interest so strongly.
As the executives discussed about their visas, Kuina sidestepped the ongoing topic as if it didn’t matter to her, and she started a conversation with Chishiya.
‘How did you know they would talk about the ranks tonight?’ She settled her eyes on Chishiya. He kept his focus on the radio before answering.
‘Players have been dying more frequently in the past few days. I figured it must be related to the executives’ weekly meeting.’
I observed Chishiya with narrowed eyes, questions constantly swirling in my mind. In the end, I couldn’t suppress my curiosity. ‘I'm sorry, but how are those two correlated?’
‘What did Chishiya tell you before you came here?’ Kuina suddenly asked, observing me carefully.
Players being killed at random, executives keeping tabs on us, the fact that Niragi wasn't allowed to kill me because another executive was interested in me – I told her everything Chishiya mentioned that day, except the fact that he had dragged me into his plan; I wanted to know why he lied about it first. Kuina let out a sigh as the concerned look on her face faded away.
‘I see he hasn't told you the whole thing yet,’ Kuina explained, ‘but those deaths weren't exactly random. The militants are plotting something to seize control of the Beach, and we’ve been looking into it.’
My throat tightened at her words. The more I learned about this plan, the more dangerous it sounded – spying not only on the executives but also on the militants. What could these two be taking so many risks for?
‘I believe the militants have been scheming to make innocent players look like traitors, and then eliminating them to make it seem like they're doing an efficient job.’ Chishiya added. ‘It sure is a clever strategy to gain Hatter's trust.’
‘And how are you so sure about that?’ I questioned him.
‘I have my ways,’ was his only answer. It wasn't easy to get a straight answer from this man. I looked at Kuina, hoping she would shed some light on the matter, but her attention had returned to the radio. Sighing, I decided to focus on the executives' discussion as well.
The room fell into a heavy silence as the executives delved into a discussion about who had the potential to join their ranks. A few names were mentioned – Kurokawa, Hayashi, and Matsui –, each accompanied by a summary of their strengths, qualities, reliability, and prowess in winning games. Niragi's voice stood out as he persistently praised one man in particular, Kurokawa, emphasizing his remarkable ability to uncover traitors and eliminate them. ‘If our duty is to maintain order at the Beach, what better way to do so than by eliminating any potential threats?’ Niragi concluded in such an amused tone I could even imagine the disgusting grin on his face.
Nonetheless, after what Chishiya had told me, Niragi's persistence in vowing for someone who was seemingly really good at uncovering traitors had me growing suspicious. Kuina let out an annoyed groan before breaking the silence.
‘They are only using last names, this isn't going to help us at all! We have dozens of Kurokawas at the Beach, and who knows how many of them are militants!’
A question burned at the tip of my tongue. Putting together everything I learned today, I cleared my throat before I spoke up.
‘Is there anyone named Kurokawa Shouji among them?’
My question hung in the air as both Kuina and Chishiya turned their attention to me. I darted my eyes between them as I waited for an answer.
‘Yes, Kurokawa Shouji is one of the militants,’ Chishiya confirmed, his voice tinged with a mixture of surprise and intrigue. He fixed his gaze on me as I recounted the conversation I overheard at the disco area earlier, where a drunk man had nudged his friend Shouji to bring better alcohol options once he became one of the ‘big guys.’
Kuina and Chishiya exchanged glances, pondering over the newfound information. A subtle smirk appeared on Chishiya’s face before he spoke. ‘Their egos are so big they can't even keep their plans a secret while drinking, huh?’
My mind raced, Chishiya’s vague words only adding to the turmoil of thoughts. I couldn’t hold back another question any longer.
‘Why are you so invested in this case? We're talking about the two most powerful parties at the Beach, what are you taking such big risks for?’
Chishiya took a moment to gather his thoughts, his expression turning serious as he met my gaze. ‘I want to become an executive myself. There are already three militants among them. If their numbers increase, it will be only a matter of time before they overthrow Hatter.’
‘You want to become an executive?’ I narrowed my eyes as I questioned him, ‘I didn't take you for the type to crave joining the elite and help preserve the peace.’
Chishiya chuckled at my comments. ‘That's not my goal. I don't care for their duties. I distrust the executives as much as I distrust the militants, but joining their ranks is the only way to uncover the secrets they keep from us, players, and secure my survival.’
His survival, he made that very clear. Chishiya didn't even try to hide that he was just using Kuina and me as pawns to achieve his objective. Yet, why didn't she seem bothered by it? Kuina didn't strike me as someone naive.
I stared at him with a mix of skepticism and curiosity. Chishiya’s self-centered nature became more evident with each interaction we had.
We continued to listen as the executives discussed the traitors, repeatedly emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the cards. Niragi’s recommendation of Kurokawa Shouji seemed to have left an impression on them. As the meeting concluded, Kuina spoke up again, shifting her gaze to Chishiya.
‘What’s our next move, then?’
Chishiya tapped his chin, a faint smirk growing at the corners of his mouth. ‘We need to remove Kurokawa Shouji from the equation,’ he declared.
A shiver ran down my spine at his words. ‘Are you planning to kill him?’ I blurted out, my voice sounding more shocked than I had intended. Chishiya looked at me with a furrowed brow as if I had asked something stupid.
‘No, I’m not going to kill him. I haven’t decided on a plan yet, I need some time to think.’
‘You’re gonna need a lot of luck too, considering your name wasn’t even on their list of candidates in the first place,’ Kuina teased Chishiya while stretching her arms. ‘Ahh, running after the executives today got me so tired. I’ll head back to my room and rest while you sort things out. See ya!’ She waved at us and exited the room, leaving me alone with Chishiya.
Silence settled between us as I continued to stare at Chishiya. He sensed the weight of my gaze and glanced back at me, his expression suggesting a curiosity as to why I hadn’t left yet. I wondered if it was worth asking him the questions that plagued my mind, aware that his responses were usually too vague. I mustered some courage before speaking up.
‘I still have questions for you, but I don’t know if you’d be willing to answer truthfully.’
Chishiya paused for a moment, sighing deeply. ‘Fine. I’ll tell you the truth.’ His eyes met mine as his expression turned serious. ‘Go ahead, ask away.’
‘Firstly, why did you lie to Kuina, saying that I willingly joined your plan? Did you manipulate her into this just like you did to me?’ I kept my tone firm, still wary of him.
‘She would have objected if she knew you were just repaying a debt to me. In the end, does it even matter? I didn’t put you in danger,’ his voice sounded increasingly annoyed as he continued, ‘I didn’t force her into this, though. She made her own choice, fully aware of what it entailed.’
I was slightly taken aback by Chishiya’s blunt response, but I pressed on. ‘How did you know the militants were killing innocent players on purpose as part of their shady scheme?’
‘I stumbled upon it by chance,’ a faint chuckle escaped his lips. ‘You weren’t the only one to come across an idiot that couldn’t keep their mouth shut.’
‘How do you know so much about the executives, and how can you be so certain that they’re hiding secrets from us?’
Chishiya reclined and stared at the ceiling, taking a moment to collect his thoughts before responding. ‘I have been observing them closely for some time now. Their modus operandi is always shrouded in secrecy. If you were to spend more time near them, you would notice their questionable behavior as well. They don’t provide clear answers and are vigilant against anyone who attempts to infiltrate their ranks.’
He paused, leaning in as he fixated his gaze on me. ‘I am certain that they are hiding secrets because of the way they guard their positions so intensely. Their ambitions extend far beyond the boundaries of the Beach, and I wouldn’t be surprised if their ‘rank system’ is a plot for them to be the only individuals to escape this place.’
I mulled over Chishiya’s words, sensing my expression soften as I began to understand his intentions. Surely, his whole plan was still selfish, but I couldn’t blame him for being so ambitious to know the truth. He was a very curious person – just like me.
‘Do you want to know why they are currently seeking a new executive member?’ Chishiya suddenly questioned, instantly capturing my attention. I leaned forward, giving him all my attention and prompting him to continue.
‘One of them died recently. They claimed he failed to clear a game, and the players who were with him said they couldn’t retrieve the body. But I don’t believe any of that. He stumbled upon something he shouldn’t have known, likely related to the militants’ plot to seize control of the Beach. He was one of the best Diamonds players here, so the militants definitely saw his cleverness as a threat.’ A distant gaze settled in Chishiya’s eyes and his voice grew quieter. ‘He was the one in charge of me here, and he trusted me with a lot of important information. He saw a lot of potential in me, though he never explained it to me.’
For a fleeting moment, I thought I noticed a hint of melancholy in his expression. Chishiya looked like an independent person with an inflated ego, so I was surprised to learn he probably looked up to someone.
Silence settled between us for a moment as I pondered everything he told me. For the first time, Chishiya’s tone actually sounded honest, though he could also be a very good manipulator.
‘There’s still something you want to ask me, right?’ He inquired, seemingly able to read my thoughts; Another question indeed burdened my mind.
‘How can I be sure that you didn’t just lie to me about everything?’
Chishiya chuckled once more, shifting his gaze away momentarily. ‘You can’t. The choice to trust me or not is exclusively up to you.’
Although he still carried that familiar air of smugness, the sincerity in his voice gradually resonated with me. Maybe, just maybe , there was more to him than met the eye. I took a deep breath as I got up from my chair, addressing Chishiya one last time.
‘Alright, Chishiya, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. But you should know that trust is earned, not chosen. I will move forward with your plan, but I’ll keep an eye on you if you ever decide to backstab Kuina.’
He nodded in response, not uttering any words. I left his room and made my way back to mine.
----------
When I thought I would finally be able to enjoy my breakfast in peace, Kuina called me over to explain Chishiya’s plan for tonight. While I enjoyed spending time with her, having to hear about Chishiya first thing in the morning made me lose my appetite.
I was thankful for not having eaten yet, however, because the details of the plan were enough to make me nauseous. Kuina explained we would have to break into the militants’ rooms to look for what they were using against innocent players – and by we , she meant just the two of us. Of course, Chishiya would force others to do the hard work for him.
‘Hey, I understand this sounds terrible right now, but you don't have to do it,’ Kuina spoke gently. ‘I can make up an excuse about you getting sick or something, so you can step away from the plan. I am more than capable of handling it alo-’
‘No,’ I cut her off mid-sentence, ‘I don't want you to take that risk by yourself. I’ll do it.’
In truth, I wasn’t as brave as I pretended to be. I would love to escape from this mess Chishiya created, but I would feel terribly guilty if I left Kuina alone with him after they told me so much. I couldn’t bear the thought of her getting hurt because I backed out at the last minute.
Kuina respected my choice, softly smiling at me while patting my arm.
----------
As the night approached, we gathered once again in Chishiya’s room to prepare ourselves. He handed us small walkie-talkies and explained he would be out in the corridor to warn us if anyone passed by.
‘Not brave enough to break into a room yourself, huh?’ I teased.
Chishiya’s expression remained unfazed as he retorted, ‘Would you rather take the risk of being caught unaware?’
I grimaced, not answering his question. Chishiya assigned us specific rooms to investigate before we finally left to get into our positions. The sun had set a while ago, so many players already had left the dorms, either to join games or to party near the pool.
Leaning against a wall, Chishiya positioned himself where he could see all the doors in the corridor as well as the stairwell. ‘Ready?’ he asked with his characteristic smirk on display. Kuina and I nodded before heading to our designated rooms.
I stood in front of room 208 for a few seconds before walking in, quietly closing the door behind me.
‘Do you have any ideas of what we should be looking for?’ Kuina’s voice crackled through the radio.
‘Anything that seems out of place, something you wouldn't expect to find in a normal player’s room,’ Chishiya answered, sounding like he wasn't even trying to help.
‘It would be really helpful if you had at least one suggestion, okay?’ I blurted out, observing the chaos of litter and dirty clothes in front of me. ‘You have no idea how messy this place is. It could take hours!’
‘Well, then, stop wasting time.’ Chishiya urged, his arrogance evident in his tone.
I groaned in frustration and began sifting through this disarray. The drawers were mostly empty as all of this person’s belongings seemed to be on the floor. Rummaging through the piles of clothes, I tried to ignore the toxic smell that emerged from them when my hands stumbled upon something small. I picked it up to take a better look and shock spread all over me.
‘Cards,’ I spoke through the radio. ‘This person is hiding playing cards.’ I continued searching, taking out about half a dozen creased cards from an open ziplock bag.
‘I just found two cards as well,’ Kuina added. ‘How did these cards pass by unnoticed by the executives?’
‘Who knows? But it makes a lot of sense. They must be planting those cards in other players’ rooms to frame them as traitors, before returning the cards to Hatter.’ Chishiya deduced, his tone suggesting he had expected this.
‘Wait, so you already suspected they were using cards? Why didn’t you mention it earlier?’ I demanded, annoyed.
No response.
‘Chishiya! Are you listening to me? You-’
‘Quiet.’ Chishiya’s voice abruptly hushed me. ‘The owner of room 208 just walked by me and is headed your way, followed by another man.’
My body froze in place. They were coming to the very room I was in. My luck just had to be this bad.
Footsteps gradually grew closer from outside, and I rushed to find a hiding spot. Kicking some trash aside, I squeezed myself under the bed and pulled a pile of clothes closer, hoping to blend in.
The door swung open and I caught a glimpse of a pair of sandals through a small gap amidst the clutter.
‘I’ve got like four or five cards in here, just give me a minute,’ a man’s voice echoed with excitement as he searched through the mess on the floor.
Silence settled in for a moment, broken only by the voice of the other man urging him to hurry. The sound of shuffling plastic came up as the man grew anxious, muttering phrases like ‘I swear I put them here!’ and ‘Where the hell is it?’
Soon, heavy footsteps walked in, combat boots showing themselves through that same gap. ‘Four or five cards, you said?’ his voice was unnerving. ‘That’s four or five missed opportunities to earn Hatter’s trust.’
‘Wait, I-I promise they’re here somewhere! Just give me a few more minutes!’ The anxious man pleaded, trying to convince his companion to let him keep searching.
‘Enough,’ a commanding voice silenced the anxious man instantly. ‘What good are you to us if you can't even secure a few cards properly?’
The man made one final plea, only to be abruptly cut off by a deafening sound. His body hit the floor with a loud thud , and the smell of fresh blood filled the cramped place I was in. The door slammed shut as the other man left.
It took me a while to gather the courage to leave my hiding spot. Pushing aside the clothes that had concealed me, the smell of blood grew stronger and I pressed a hand over my nose to muffle it. Avoiding the pool of blood as I crawled out, I observed the scene before my eyes. A young man, likely in his early 20s, was killed because of some playing cards – cards that crumpled under the grip of my trembling hands at this very moment.

Plus some of your links aren’t clickable on your Tumblr for me. Like the (know your place link) is not opening on mobile. The post that shows all your master lists doesn’t say anything about how the reader will be thick. So once again, you didn’t have to reply to me like that
let me just address both of your asks in the same post to make things more efficient
firstly . despite what you may think, what you just said in the first ask proves my point on how this is problematic. “i didn’t go check on your blog because i didn’t care to”. really??? again you really should word things better bc wym because you don’t CARE to? you sure cared enough if you pressed that little heart icon on the bottom right corner of the post. and it certainly seems like you cared enough to take it upon yourself and come here to say all of this when technically you didn’t have to. you must have been drawn to my writing to some extent <3
secondly. you said “a lot of black reader fics ive read that don’t strictly state they’re thick always make the reader to have big butts, big thighs, big boobs, dark skin or thick legs. nothing wrong with those im saying that unless it’s stated so, to not describe the readers body”. HAHSHSHAJJAAJJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAKAKAKKAKSKSS laughing SO hard bc once again you are still proving my point earlier when i said clearly you didn’t read any of the warnings on TOP of the post ?? idek which fic you’re referring to but im going to assume it’s my aki fic since that’s the one you interacted with. it CLEARLY states in the beginning that the reader was going to be thick coded which MEANS that im going to use descriptors such as the ones you stated (idek if i actually stated them) but the bottom line is that the reader is thick in my head when i wrote that fic and this brings me back to my main point: anyone is welcome to read my fics but when i state things like oh the reader is black and/or thick coded you do NOT have to imagine them like that bc they’re “ x reader” fics, where you can insert whatever image you want . but i digress. what other authors do regarding not explicitly ‘warning’ the audience of the reader’s body type but still adding specifics anyway has nothing to do with me. especially when i said that ill make sure it’s stated in the beginning of each fic. and the way you worded that does make it seem like the saturation of thick coded readers bothers you, at least a little bit. but thats just how it sounded to me
and another thing, im not angry 😂😂😂 im actually a little amused. a tiny bit annoyed but amused nonetheless
thirdly. im terribly sorry that the links aren’t working for you and idk how to fix that… maybe refresh the app or redownload it???? my links seem to be working on my end ( on the app, on my laptop, and when on mobile when you aren’t on the app ). and it’s really unfortunate it doesn’t work for you bc there’s essential information there. really interesting that only THAT link doesn’t work isn’t it ? well here’s what’s under the know your place link, since you can’t see it. this link is embedded in my navigation post so technically it IS there.
and fourthly, i only responded in the tone that i did because i felt like you were attacking me for the way I write on my own blog, and naturally i have to defend myself don’t i? your tone didn’t come off very nice either , esp in these last two asks you sent me . im usually a very nice and understanding person, so therefore i understand what you’re saying (objectively speaking) but my points still stand . if you feel like you still don’t wanna read my fics then i hope you find other authors who will cater to your desires :)

I was about to do this whole like every time Lucifer speaks is red but I forgot the app sucks donkey ass, so it doesn't save what I want it to do (it also removes some of the stuff I wrote down here)
He was sitting in his study, up late again as the night before paperwork had to be done. Lucifer was tired as he sat at his desk, gloves were off, his tie was undone. Leaning against his hand as he tried his hardest to stay awake. He was stressed and he knew it. He was tired of the paperwork, his brother's antics and tired of cleaning up their messes. But he has too much pride to admit that he needs a break. He leaned back in his chair, letting out a sigh as his fingers ran through his hair. He came to a realization that he is too stressed to carry on, he needed to let out his frustration. He usually just holds it in until he has enough and blows up on Mammon. But recently Lucifer got a new pet to take his anger out on. He chuckled to himself as he stood up, he walked to the fireplace and put out the flames. He opened the door to his study and closed it behind him as he left for his room, a smile plastered across his face as he made his way to his room, gratefully waiting for your arrival.
Feeling groggy your eyes flutter open, slowly being woken up by your D.D.D. ringing on the nightstand. You rolled out of bed and walked to the nightstand, the name 'Lucifer' flashed on the screen as you answered the call "Hello…?" "Were you asleep?" He asked with a voice more tired sounding than yours "Come to my room, now, don't make me wait" you looked at your phone confusedly as the call ended, you wondered why Lucifer wanted you at this hour as you slowly walked to his bedroom. You knocked on the wood, a weary "Come in" encouraged you to open the door "You wanted to see me, Lucifer?" "Yes, close the door" you complied and closed it. You looked around the room before your eyes landed on a little box lying on his bed. You looked at the table, several more Akuzon boxes sitting on it. You glanced at the Avatar pride that was sitting on the couch, glass of wine in hand "Come, set" he gestured to the bed. you wandered over and sat down next to the box "I'm sorry for calling on you at this hour, I needed to ask you a question" "Is the question that important that you have to wake me up at 2:00 am?" Lucifer didn't like the cocky tone in your voice as you said those words, but he kept calm as he knew that cockiness wouldn't last for long "Yes, it's very important for that it couldn't wait for tomorrow" he put the glass of wine up to his lips and sipped it "First, I would like you to open your gift" he gestured to the Akuzon box sitting next to you. You hesitated, it's Lucifer after all and the way he was staring at you, wasn't innocent. He noticed your expression as you looked at the box curiously and laughed "Go on, It's not poisonous, you can open it" you looked at him then slowly shrugged as you began to open the box. You were shocked as your eyes looked at the content within the box: a red leash with a matching collar and golden dog tags attached to it
"Do you like it?" He asked with a slight smile across his face. You stared at the collar as you noticed your full name and your date of birth on one of the dog tags, and the words ‘property of Lucifer’ on the other "Now, on to the question why you're here" he said as he sat his glass on the table "Are you my good girl?" You stare at him as you slowly realize the real reason why you're here. You tightly squeeze the dog collar as your heart pounded with excitement "yes" you mumble as you squeeze your thighs together, your hips shifting in your seat. Lucifer let out a slight chuckle "Is that how good girls talk now?" You looked down at the floor in shame as you slowly shook your head "Now, I'll ask you again" placing his elbows on the table as he rested his chin on his hands "are you my good girl?" He stared at you and curiosity as he wandered, will you give him what he wanted? You started to become aroused. You know what he wants, and you know if you say it, you would become his bitch from that point on. staring at the collar again, glancing over the dog tags once more as you took a deep breath and let out a little ”yes, master”
Lucifer started laughing, that was the right answer. He leaned back in his seat and patted his leg "Come here, and bring the gift" you tried to put up some "fight". you think it's fun to get under his skin sometimes, and think it's sexy when he gets angry "I'm not a dog, Lucifer" . He saw that you were still defiant, and wondered how much you could take until you finally broke. He sighed "why are you so damn stubborn?" He stood up straight, his words were full of annoyance as he spoke "I said come here" you rolled your eyes as you got on your hands and knees on the floor and slowly crawled to Lucifer, leash and collar in your hand. Stopping between his legs as you look at him, a devilish grin plastered across his face "That's how good girl's should act" a part of you hates being treated like a dog, but you can't ignore your arousal. And the more obedient you are, the more ecstatic he becomes. He took the collar from you and fastened it around your neck "It fits perfectly" he said "Now people will know who you belong to" He then patted his lap, encouraging you to lay on it. As you lay your head on his inner thigh he begins to rub his fingers through your hair "You're such a good girl, yes you are" you sit there as he pat your head and you close your eyes, it was soothing. It was late and you didn't mean to. but loving the tension, you slowly drifted off to sleep. Lucifer saw that you were going to sleep and got even more annoyed.
He grabbed the leash and yanked on it, jerking you forward "Don't you dare go to sleep on me now, we haven't got started yet" he let go of the leash and place a hand on your cheek "I have more gifts for you" he said "But you have to earn them" his hand moved to the back of your head and ran his fingers through your hair before grabbing a fistful of it, making you wince as you stared at the devilish grin on his face "Now, be a good girl and suck your master’s cock" he set up and started unbuckling his pants "I will warn you, I'm not going to hold back this time" You weighed in anticipation as he slowly unbuttoned his pants and unzipped his fly. He ran his thumb under the waistband of his boxers staring at you while he did it, making you wait "Is this what you want?" He asked while pulling down his boxers, exposing his aching shaft. You open your mouth and stick out your tongue, you can't deny it any more, you did enjoy the way he treated you. He cocked an eyebrow at your eagerness. He found it amusing, how you were so hesitant the first time you two did something like this, but in that moment you were like a dog begging for a treat, and he loved it. Lucifer put a hand on your cheek, his thumb entered your mouth and rubbed it on the inside of your cheek before pulling on it, making your mouth open wider. The tip of his cock rested on your tongue before sliding in your mouth, a slight hiss escaped from his lips as you fully took him in your mouth "Ahw! fuck yes!" His hands moved to the back of your head, his fingers slid through your hair as he bucked his hips. You gagged as Lucifer’s cock slid into your throat, you always had trouble taking him in your mouth, he definitely was on the thicker side than his brothers. your aching pussy throbbed between your legs as your arousal began to be unbearable. Enjoying the feeling of your face being fuck, you put your hand down your pants and started teasing yourself, rubbing and teasing the sensitive folds.
Lucifer stopped, looking down at you, he saw what you were doing and pulled out of your throat, resting his cock in your mouth before slamming back deep in your throat, making you choke.
your eyes begin to water from the feeling of his member violently thrust into you "I didn't give you permission to touch yourself" he removes his cock from your throat, leaving you with an empty feeling. You wanted more, removing your hands but reaching out a hand to touch the throbbing member before you, but Lucifer smacked your hand away "dogs don't eat their meal with their hands" he grabbed your hair and pushed your face against his crotch making his dick grind against your cheek. He took the tip of his cock and started pressing it against your cheek "A good dogs eat there food with there fucking tongue" he said while forcefully rubbing the head of his member against your cheek, making your face shiny with pre "Now, be a good BITCH and eat your food" you tried to put up a fight. You wanted to please him, but you also wanted to piss him off just to see what he does next "I. AM. NOT. A. DOG-" as soon as you said those words, Lucifer immediately became annoyed and grabbed your face. He held your chin with a tight grip as his thumb and index finger pressed into your cheeks "are you trying to piss me off!?"
Yes, yes you were..
"Why are you so disobedient?!" He knew you were being disobedient on purpose, he knew you were just trying to get under his skin, just to rile him up. He knows he has to break you now. Lucifer roughly rubs the tip of his cock against your lips, making them glossy as he covers them in pre-cum "Now, be a good bitch and lick my cock" without hesitation your tongue is out, licking the underside of Lucifer's shaft. You rolled your tongue from the base to his head. A weak "finally" croak from Lucifer's throat. Your tongue explored his shaft, licking up and down his cock making him grit his teeth. You licked back up to the tip and started circling the head with your tongue. Lucifer growled when the tip of your tongue licked at the slit of his cock. Looking up at him, his eyes were glossy with a yellow hue as his gaze met yours "does it feel good?" You smile with a slight chuckle as the tip of your tongue digs into the slit of his member, lapping up beads of pre. Lucifer got agitated "shut up" your mouth was suddenly filled with his cock. You put your hands on his hips and dig your nails into his skin, the feelings of your throat being filled up once again made you moan around him. He bucked his hips, he ran his fingers through your hair as he started to lose it "N- now that's how a good girl should act!" His thrust got faster and rougher, and the pathetic, muffled sound that you tried to make only encouraged him "do m- my pet want a treat?" He pulled on your hair, yanking your head back. Lucifer took his cock out of your mouth, and stroked it in front of your face "open your mouth, and stick out your tongue" you did what you were told, sticking your tongue out and watched him as he stroked his member, vigorously. His tip lied on your tongue as he pumped his cock up and down "don't spill a fucking drop!" he said with gritted teeth. With one final grunt, your mouth was full with his cum. Covering your tongue. his cum overflowed from your mouth, you tried to catch it with your hands. Lucifer pulled away and looked at you. He got even more annoyed, you had one job and you couldn't do it right "lick your hands" he said with a disappointed look on his face. You stared at your hands that were covered in his seed and put them up to your lips. You looked up at him as you started to lick the palm of your hands, tracing your tongue over lines in your hands that were covered in his seed. Lucifer stared intensively as he watched you suck your fingers, staring right into your eyes as you licked between your fingers. When you are done you sit on the floor, waiting for him to give you another command. He laughed at your obedience "you did such a good job in sucking me off, but…" he crouch down in front of you, a slight devious smile plastered across his face as he tap the floor with a finger "you missed a spot" you looked down at the small puddle of Lucifer's cum seeping into the carpet "Lick it up" you stared at him "no" you said with a little cockiness in your voice. Lucifer didn't find your disobedience cute however, now he knows that he has to break you of that little Pride you have left.
"I don't think I stuttered, did i?" Lucifer's voice was low and cold. He grabbed you by the hair and pushed your face down into the carpet "I said Lick. It. Up!" You reluctantly did what you were told. He watched with amusement as you lapped up his cum from the carpet like a dog. When you were done you looked at him, waiting for another command. Lucifer met your gaze, chuckled as he slowly shook his head. He grabbed you by the arm and made you stand up, his hands moved up to your face. His thumbs rubbed over your cheeks, wiping away the tears that still remains "you were doing so good, mc" he said as his hands slide down to your shoulders "but you wasted it, so now I'm going to have to punish you" he grabbed you by the arm again and sat down on the couch, dragging you down with him. He bent you over his knee, making you face the fireplace. You let out a gasp as he started pulling down your pants "Lucifer?!" He let your pants dangle from your ankles, exposing your ass to him. He ran a hand up your thighs, and slowly cupped one of your cheeks before slapping it. you whine from the pain. You tried to brace yourself for another strike, but you couldn't help but to scream as his hand came in contact with your skin again, harder, making a wave of pain wash over your body "I didn't give you permission to touch yourself, you wasted my cum and you are so disobedient. Scream all you like, this is your fault" he hit you harder, and harder. Your screams bounce off the walls. It hurts, but you couldn't help but to get off from it. Lucifer was enjoying your screams as he slapped your ass, leaving red handprints on your abused skin "Apologize" "wha-?!" Was all you can say before he hit you again "Apologize for what you did" his hand began to rubbed over the red skin of your ass "Apologize for being disobedient, wasting my cum and for touching yourself without my permission" he slapped you again making you whimper out a weak "I'm sorry" he slapped your ass again "LOUDER!" "I'M SORRY!" You screamed as you balled your hands into fists. You brace yourself for another hit but you are caught off guard by Lucifer laughing. He didn't know why he was laughing, but somehow the way you pleaded for forgiveness was cute, and also pathetic. Lucifer's hand went back to your ass. You wince from the stinging sensation as Lucifer's warm hands started rubbing the abused skin of your ass cheek, smirking as he rubbed the red marks that he made "You're enjoying this aren't you?" "no.." you whimpered out. Lucifer knew that you were lying and found it cute that you tried so hard to deny what you truly wanted. His hand moved to your thighs, slowly sliding them up. Your whimpers turn into moans as Lucifer fingers trails over your aching folds "If you're not enjoying this, then why are you so wet?" He removed your pants from your ankles and threw them. He grabbed you by the arm and lifted you up to make you straddle him. The smile that was on Lucifer's face quickly turned into a devilish grin when he saw your tearful eyes. Lucifer cooed happily as he licked your fallen tear from your cheeks, before moving to your ear and whispering "Maybe we should stop" "what...?" You said as you tried not to focus on the stinging sensation from your butt "Since my bitch is crying so much, then we need to stop" you were shocked. Why did he want to stop now? This wasn't the first time that Lucifer spanked you, far from it, but this time you know it was different. Almost like he's been causing you pain deliberately, like he's trying to prove something. Your mine ran blink for a moment, then a slight sigh lifted you as leaned your head against his shoulder “I will stop with the behavior” You now know what this was about. Your voice was hoarse as you quietly whispered "don't stop…. please" you moved to kiss him. A gentle kiss to his lips turned into a rough one, leaving you gasping for air when you pulled away “ You sank to your knees on to the floor, grabbing the red leash that was still hooked to the red matching collar that was still on your neck. Lucifer was surprised when you put the leash into his open palm and then closed his hand. Pulling away, you looked up at him as nothing but shame fell from your lips "please don't stop" you let your head hang down a shame as you continued "I'll do what you say, I'll be your dog, just don't stop" setting on the floor with your head down, you felt a shane but you wanted more. The room was uncomfortably silent as the two of you waited on for the other one to speak first, the Avatar Pride was stunned by your sudden actions that he actually looked at you with a slight pity. It was until you utter the word "master?" when Lucifer's calm demeanor turns into greed. When he loosened his grip on the leash it slithered out of his hand, and on to the floor "such a picky pet" you kept your eyes on the floor, waiting for your master to tell you what to do. It wasn't until Lucifer grabbed you by the hair when you looked at him, a stinging sensation in your scalp from how hard he was gripping on to your hair. Lucifer looked at you with disgust and that look that he gives you when he's disciplining you. It was full of shame and disappointment, and you usually were afraid when he looked at you like that, but in this situation you can't help being aroused. "You'll do what I say, huh?" You nod your head with the little mobility you had "You like it when I treat you like a dog, don't you? treating you like shit, while I fuck your brains out?" a worried "yes" was all you can say before you were forcefully tossed on the floor "Then prove it" he crossed his legs as he continued "Bow to me and prove your loyalty" you moved from your spot on the floor to be in front of Lucifer. Setting yourself up where you were on your knees, and slowly bowing your head. It wasn't enough for Lucifer however, and he silently put his foot on the back of your head, and pushed down to make your face buried in the carpet "Look at you, not putting up a fight like an obedient bitch" he continued "now, who does this bitch belong to?" He slowly started grinding his foot into your head, making you wince "I said who do you belong to?" A weary "you, sir" came out before your face was buried deep into the carpet, your head pinned down to the floor by Lucifer's foot "I'm going to do what I want to you and you're not going to complain, you understand me?"
"Yes, master"
"Good"
Lucifer removed his foot and stood up straight "I guess you're good enough" you lift your head to look up at him, a sweet and gentle smile replaced the wicked grin he had before "You can open a another present" he gestured to one of the Akuzon boxes that was still on the table "Some may bring you pleasure, while the other will bring you pain. But no matter which one you choose, you will enjoy it" You turn to look at the table in the several unopened boxes lying upon it. Staring at the different sized boxes you wondered to yourself; If the first box had a leash and a dog collar in it, what was inside the others? You wanted to open all of them at once to ease your mind, but it wasn't until you noticed that one of the boxes didn't have the Akuzon logo on it. It was just a plain box. Lucifer shifted closer, he noticed that you were glaring at a pacific box that he put together. sitting on the edge of the couch he leaned down to hover over you "Are you sure you want that one?" Your curiosity turned into dread. The unknown contents of the box started to become concerning as you reminisced what Lucifer said "what's in these that would make me feel pain?" Lucifer didn't give a direct answer other than a smile "Pick one and find out" you hesitated, still unnerved by the fact that you don't know what is in the boxes. but put that uneasiness aside as you want this to continue. You pointed to the box with no recognizable markings and sighed "This one" with a smile Lucifer grabbed your arm and stood up, making you stand on your feet. He walked with you until you both were in the middle of the room, standing under the chandelier. He told you to "Stay" and return to the table. He picked up the box that you singled out and opened it. Lucifer proceeds to rummage through contents of the box "Take off your shirt" he demanded over his shoulder. You did what you were told, taking off your shirt and letting it fall to the floor, leaving you naked. You tried covering your chest with your arms but as soon as your hands touched your breasts, Lucifer grabbed your wrist and jerked you forward. He gave you that look again, that disapproving look that made your legs weak. Suddenly, Lucifer tied your wrists together, it wasn't until the rest of the rope was strong through the chandelier when you noticed his intentions. He pulls on the rope, making your arms raised above your head. He didn't stop pulling it on, however. Pulling the rope tighter and tighter, you begin to whimper about the rope starting to dig into your skin. It wasn't until you're on your tippy toes when Lucifer stopped and tied the rope to the Chandelier. He took a step back to look at you. Staring at the pretty 'rope bunny' in front of him, made the Pride filled demon giddy with glee. Even though he was tired, Lucifer hasn't felt this satisfied in a while. the only time he find something this satisfying is when he used to torture demons that disobey him, or when his greedy little brother max out his credit cards. The way your wrist was bound together and the way your legs wanted to give out as the chandelier struggled to hold your weight, made his cock hardon again.
"It's too tight" you felt the rope dig into your skin. It is not the first time you've been tied up, but you were struggling. Lucifer just closed his eyes and shook his head, he giggled "I thought you said you won't complain" he looked disappointed in his face as he continued "It seems like I have to discipline you" he turned around and walked back to the table. You watched as Lucifer put up the box of the table and walked back over to you, with that same disappointing look. Your eyes met. It wasn't until he walked behind you and that eye contact broke, you tried to angle your head to see him, but you couldn't because of how your arms were positioned "what are you doing?" Lucifer shushes you. You tried your best to know what he was doing by the sound of his movement, but to no avail. The room became uncomfortably silent. You heard no movement, nothing, almost like Lucifer wasn't behind you "Lucifer?..." Nothing. You tried again "Lucifer… please" still nothing. It was only when you mumble the word "master?" When you heard something like a snort when you were reminded of his presence. You heard Lucifer footsteps, he was right behind you but you were still startled when you heard his voice right in your ear "impatient, are we?" Suddenly, the caller that was still around your neck was being removed and it was immediately replaced by something else. You couldn't look to see what it was as it was around your neck, but you could tell whatever that was now around your neck wasn't normal. It wasn't long until Lucifer's hands were on your body. Coming from behind, his hands started at your waist, feeling your soft skin as his fingers shift to your hips "Such a delicate human form" he said "Too bad I'm going to ruin it" Lucifer moved back from you, going back to the bed he picked up a ball gag that he took out of the box. Lucifer then walked in front of you "open your mouth" he demanded as he put the ball of the gag up to your lips, and fastened passed the straps behind your head after you took the gag between your teeth. Now you were bound, gagged and completely at a demon's mercy, you could scream and no one would hear it. Just what Lucifer wanted. You looked at one another, like a standoff between predator and prey, but the prey knows it has lost. Lucifer shuffled back behind you but quickly walked back in front of you as he held something behind his back. With his hand, he reaches up and caresses your face. You leaned into his touch, letting out a muffled moan as a ball gag had you mostly silent. But that sweet moment didn't last for too long however. As soon as you let your guard down, Lucifer grabs a fistful of your hair, jerking your head back. Your whimpers were blocked by the ball gag but that was still enough for the Avatar Pride. The thing that Lucifer was hiding behind his back moved in between your legs "If you cum, I'll make you regret it" before you could think, the feeling of pleasure rushed through you. The vibrator that Lucifer pressed against your aching pussy made your legs weak, as your moans that were blocked by the gag tried to break through. You felt your knees starting to buckle, the rope that was still wrapped around your wrist was the only thing keeping your body from falling on the floor. Your body felt like it was about to collapse, he just started touching you and you're already at your peak, you weren't expecting to cum so soon, you blame yourself for being so sensitive. But you didn't want to give up your orgasm quite yet. You looked up and focused your eyes on your two arms that were bound above your head, trying your best not to climax. Lucifer knew you were trying to fight it, he took your resisting as obedience. But Lucifer wanted you to cum so he could punish you. Lucifer was sliding his fingers across your sensitive flesh, increasing your excitement and stimulating you as you tried to steady your breathing. He placed a kiss on your breasts, it was gentle, a lot more gentle than the ones he gave you on your lips. But when his mouth moved to your nipples, you tried to ignore him. Closing your eyes trying not to give in to the pleasure. When he wasn't getting the response that he wanted, Lucifer rubbed the vibrator on your clit but not before putting on the toy on Max power. Your eyes shot open, you looked down at the smug demon who was teasing your breasts. You wanted to scream, to let your voice out but the ball gag prohibits those rights. All you could do was inhale and exhale rapidly, as you begin to unravel. The wand continued to vibrate your clit, you felt the urge to cum increase when Lucifer pinch your nipples between his teeth. your orgasm rattled you as you cried out his name in a long note of pleasure. Your climax just kept rising higher and higher, you could feel your knees weaken tremors throughout as you wrote out your orgasm as your juices drench down your thighs and cover Lucifer's hand.he moves to cup your face wiping the loose strands of hair away. You stared at him teary-eyed as you try to come down from your euphoric high, he smiled at you wickedly before he whispered in your ear "you came, so now I get to punish you" you realize what you have done, you disobey your master and slowly start shaking your head "no" but you're quiet please fell on deaf ears as bolts of electricity rush your body. You screamed but nothing came out as agonizing pain filled your body. And just like that it was gone, leaving you a twitching mess as the remnant of electricity made your nerves feel like they were jumping. Your legs finally give out. The only thing that kept you from falling to the ground was the ropes that still bind your wrists to the chandelier. You were breathing rapidly, you wanted to pass out but lost his voice caught your attention "This is your punishment, so enjoy it" the rush of the electricity filled your body once more but it was a lot stronger, more painful. And once again the feeling of being shocked was gone, leaving you a trembling, confused mess. your heart pounding in your head as you tried to think straight, feeling dizzy and your vision was doubled, you slowly trying to gain your sanity back. It wasn't until you heard Lucifer calling your name when finally you felt like yourself again "Mc? Is my little doggie dead?" You looked at him, after what he did to you, Lucifer's caring smile felt foreign. He proceeded to remove the ball gag from your mouth. as soon as Lucifer did that, you're heavy panting was the only thing coming out of your mouth before you ask, in a shaky breath "w- w- what the fuck d- did you do to- to me?!" He pointed to his neck "shock collar" he calmly said. Lucifer pulled out a small remote and waved it across your face. You stared at him bewildered then remembered that he put something around your neck that you couldn't see "I did originally bought it for Cerberus, but sometimes inside bitches needs discipline too" Lucifer precedes to untie your wrist and you immediately collapsed in his arms, tired as you can barely stand up. Lucifer wiped the sweat from your face, he stared into your tired eyes and gave you a sweet kiss to your forehead. But when you thought the torture was over, Lucifer grab your hair again and when you saw that disappointed look on his face, you knew it wasn't over "Get your ass to the bed, and bend over" your master gave you orders and you followed them. Getting onto your hands and knees, you tried your best not to fall over as you crawled to Lucifer's bed. Bending over, you stuck your ass up in the air as your upper body laid on top of the covers. Looking over the bed, you notice there was more sex toys lying upon it: couple of vibrators, a few dildos. But one thing that caught your eye the most was Lucifer's riding crop. The same riding crop was picked up by the demon. Lucifer gripped the riding crop tightly in his hands and glared at your still bright red ass.
"do you remember what to say?" Preparing for the strike to come, you gripped the covers and nodded in response. Lucifer took a deep breath before striking you with the riding crop. you jerked forward, you let out a loud moan of pain and pleasure as Lucifer precedes to hit you again
"say it"
"I'm a dumb human whore" the riding crop came in contact with your skin as Lucifer precedes to hit you harder
"what else?"
"I love to be stuffed by demon cock. To be used as a cum dope by your kind" he hit you again the riding crop leaving red marks to your already abused bottom
"do you like to be treated like this?" Another strike thrash your skin, your words messy as you try to breathe
"I- l love to be abused, used and treated like the scum I am" Lucifer steps back and smiles, admiring the new marks he added to your skin. Lucifer ran his fingers through his hair and quietly chuckled to himself as he watched you slowly crawl into his bed. Tired and out of breath, you just wanted to be filled up by him. You roll over onto your back and spread your legs open, you reached between your legs and spread open your wet and drenching cunt, exposing yourself to him "please, just fuck me" you continue "I said what you wanted, I did what you wanted, now please just do this one thing for me and fuck me" Lucifer inhale deeply, as he fight the urge to ravish you, to bury his cock deep inside of you. He looked over to his nightstand and slowly laughed as he stared at a clock that was sitting on it "look at the time. it's very late, maybe we should get some sleep?"

Pretty Setter Squad Boyfriend Headcanons
part one can be found here II wc: 2.4k II includes: kageyama, suga, kenma, akaashi, semi and oikawa II atsumu and shirabu
rewriting because i cringe at the old hcs 😭
✗ Kagggggsss
✗ The emotionally constipated blueberry <3 oh yeahh 😎
✗ Okay well first off he can barely process his emotions (*cough* evidently *cough*)
✗ When you two first started going out he was quite shy and unsure of what to do so you may have had to guide him a bit, but if youre equally shy then it just would have taken longer to get to where you are now; oh and if that was the case it probably took some random burst of energy/confidence from either one of you to make the first move.
✗ He will buy you milk but uf you hate it (like me 🤢) he will buy you another drink - like juice :D
✗ I dont think he will be the most affectionate, it’s not his love language - and neither are words haHAH. His love language is most likely quality time and gift giving.
✗ He does like to cuddle though 😳
✗ In fact he really likes to :D his favourite is when youre sitting in his lap while he watches a volleyball game (at home - he hates pda).
✗ This brings us to our next, short point. Kageyama absolutely despises pda, he just thinks its something meant for closed doors and he does not believe that he has to display his relationship for the whole world to ogle at. The most he will do is light hand holding - mostly just linking your pinkies though.
✗ When it comes to height he does not care if you're smaller or taller than him ← but bb, please don't tease him about his height if he’s shorter because he will blow a fuse.
✗ He alternates between small spoon and big spoon, kinda depending on his mood.
✗ BOY O BOY does he get jealous. Uh please reign in your setter >:(
✗ Its mostly due to the fact that he’s insecure about himself - he thinks you will leave him like everyone else (in middle school - yes, he is still traumatised from it.)
✗ When he does get jealous he might be snappy to the other person and glare at them or be snappy at you and glare at you. When this happens please give him space because he needs it to clear his head. When he feels better he will come up to you and hug you into his chest so that he can’t see your face and you cant see his, then he will mumble an apology.
✗ Ever since you two began to date he has practiced apologising and getting better at apologising, this is because his inability to admit to his own mistakes was a sour patch in your relationship that almost ended it but he really did not want to lose you so he sucked up his pride and worked on what he had to; of course you also worked in what you had to. God I love character development 😩
✗ Dates are mostly at home dates or dates revolving around volleyball. If you're not into volleyball, Kageyama would not date you, it's something he is so passionate about and loves with every breath he takes (like you) and he refuses to compromise one love for the other.
✗ ooooh he likes arcade dates a well! He thrives in a competitive environment. If you're not competitive and don't want to compete against him then he’ll compete for you - against the machines lol. Of course you play as well! But i doubt youre as competitive as this blueberry, and if you are - well i guess at the end of the day youll both be stacked in tokens 🤠
✗ Sugawara my beloved <33
✗ He. Is. So. Affectionate!
✗ Mans loves skin on skin contact ykwim?
✗ He is down for pda and does not care what others think - only what you think <3.
✗ I mean he might make out with you in public if you ask nicely
✗ Dates are very fun with him, he’ll take you to cafes, to amusement parks, to carnivals, to movies and all the like. He’s a cliche lover and he’s proud of it.
✗ Your first kiss happened on New Years Eve/Day. The two of you sat on the roof of his house and watched as the fireworks lit up the starry sky of Miyagi and chanted the count down together. The second ‘one’ left your lips he grabbed your face (softly!!) and pulled you in to crash his lips against yours.
✗ Suga loves to cuddle, preferably face to face because he just thinks you're the most beautiful person in the world.
✗ He is not the most jealous person, he definitely does get jealous but never of strangers. It's more when his close friends or your close friends get a bit too comfortable if that makes sense? He normally plays it off with humour and messes around because he acknowledges that he is insecure and that it is most likely him thinking of the worst case scenario; however if he really does start to worry and get jealous then he will sit you down and talk about it with you. To him, communication is key.
✗ Ngl Kenma is definitely in my top 3 favourites.
✗ I may or may not be a Kenma kinnie 😳🙈
✗ i love my non-toxic gamer boy <33 anywho: no matter what ANYONE says, kenma is definitely affectionate. In fact I'd say he’s one of the most affectionate boyfriends. As we all know, he is shy and introverted but he likes to hang around and spend time with people he likes. He also talks a lot to them. So I hc that he’s a bit of a chatterbox with you and it makes him really happy when you let him talk about a game or a theory he has. He’s a great listener so you can count on him to pay attention to what you say.
✗ if you didn't already have one, he bought you a switch. He loves video game dates especially when he can't see you in person (*cough* lockdown *cough*)
✗ he loves when you sit on his lap when he plays video games. I know everyone talks about sitting on their partner’s lap as some sexual thing and yeah that can happen but most of the time he’s really soft with you and just enjoys being close to you. Loves when you cuddle into him while he plays so that he can place his head on yours or your shoulder.
✗ i think he is a bit shy when it comes to kisses but definitely warms up after a while. He absolutely refuses to sleep if he doesnt get your goodnight kisses. He loves to kiss you on your nose and your cheeks the most. He loves when you kiss him on the forehead and the nose <3
✗ kenma is not one for pda, it's just not his vibe. He prefers intimacy and privacy; his relationship is not a movie for the world to watch and gawk at. Especially timeskip!kenma. Though that does not mean he wont ever show you skinship in public, occasionally he will softly hold your hand and maybe press a light kiss to your cheek.
✗ in terms of jealousy, he is moderate. Kenma, as we all know, has incredible people reading skills, so he understands the situation pretty clearly and knows when you’re uncomfortable/what you think of the situation. Most of the time you can deal with the unwanted attention and he doesnt get jealous, but he does get insecure. He shows this by going quiet and looking away when you look at him, you can cure this by giving him hugs when you get home.
✗ Akaashi my beloved <3 he’s so pretty i can't even-
✗ ugh! Just imagine him in a dark/light academia aesthetic.
✗ perfection.
✗ akaashi is the sweetest most attentive boyfriend, he loves you to pieces and never fails to let you know. He tells you he loves you every morning and every night. He probably makes meals for you and leaves notes in that have a sweet comment like “i love you, you're the best <3”
✗ he love back hugging you BUT also receiving back hugs 🥺✨
✗ akaashi is a booknerd and an introvert. Please cuddle up to him and let him read his book to you.
✗ there are only 2 things that can restore his social battery: sleeping and you.
✗ which means he wants cuddles when he’s tired 😊
✗ he is not jealous. He just doesn't get jealous, maybe annoyed if the third party is being a bit too pushy and you're clearly uncomfortable, but he just never feels jealous. No matter how hard you may try to make him jealous (plz dont cause that's kinda toxic imo) he just won't feel that way.
✗ definitely the ‘mom/dad’ as he carries sinister, pads, bandaids → a whole first aid kit basically, everywhere. Bb must be prepared.
✗ dates are so sweet with him, cute niche cafes and dimly lit libraries. Maybe the occasional abandoned building. He loves spending time with you, so really he's happiest whenever he’s with you; having coffee at McDonalds or a niche cafe won't change anything.
✗ he’s hard to pinpoint for pda. I feel like he’s indifferent about it. He probably prefers to keep it indoors or to just small and sweet gestures (no making out in public sorry-). It definitely comes down to your preferences, if you don't like it then he won't and vice versa.
✗ semi semi semi semi semi semi
✗ omg mr musician
✗ he definitely plays guitar - lead guitar and bass guitar.
✗ skilled fingies for sure 😗
✗ boy why are musicians so hot???? 😫😫😫💦💦
✗ he writes songs about you. Semsem has a bit of trouble saying exactly how he feels, so he writes it and sings it to you with a small little smile and eyes full of love.
✗ off topic but Semu has the best music taste in haikyuu
✗ he loves hugs so much <33 please hug and cuddle with him 24/7
✗ very affectionate, he’s always touching you someway. Loves kissing your forehead.
✗ he is jealous. Yeah definitely. He writes songs about being jealous 🗿 not that you mind of course ‘cause they're bangers. I think he might get snappy when he’s jealous, not directly at you but at the other person. He definitely gets a bit bitchy. Sometimes he acts that way to you so you've just gotta slap some sense into him. Say something like “what's your problem?” or “tell me what your problem is so i can help fix it.” ← that's probably the best thing to say.
✗ afterwards he’ll just snuggle with you until he feels better.
✗ he asks for your opinion about his songs all the time, please be honest (but also praise them if you like them lol)
✗ he takes you to niche spots he finds, like hidden concerts and stuff. Loves when you come to his gigs <3 oh and when you scream for him (in more ways than one).
✗ dates are cute and fun. Mostly walking around together → carnivals, main street, farmers market. Those kind of things.
✗ when it comes to pda he loves it. Loves being able to show the world who his s/o is. If you don't like it then he will tone it down and only do what you’re comfortable with. If you're also into pda then he will happily make out with you anywhere (you're one of THOSE couples 🤢 /j)
✗ all round best boyfie <3
✗ oikawa 😳 have i told y'all how much i love him? Oikawa is the best written character, no cap, he is so complex and real it's crazy. It's so fun to write about him because you can pick him apart, you know his flaws, his weaknesses, his nightmares but also his strengths and dreams. Anywho i'll stop ranting now but i just love writing for such a perfectly imperfect character-
✗ he puts up a cocky exterior but thats all false. He's as scared as you are, he's scared that you'll leave him like his exes because of how obsessed and focused he is on volleyball. However he is a changed man, he's learned to balance his priorities. If you ever feel like you're being sidelined please communicate with him.
✗ he values communication above all else and wants nothing more in a partner than for them to also value communication.
✗ back to the point → if you feel insecure of your relationship and that volleyball is taking too much of his attention let him know. He will change that. To an extent → he may have an important game coming up which is why he is focusing more, but he will always find time for you.
✗ he never forgets to text you good morning and good night. He also sends you wholesome memes and makes sure you're taking care of yourself - they're like reminders for him to also take care of himself.
✗ he is both jealous and insecure. Everyone who gets too close to you or spends a lot of time with you, he is jealous of. Jealous because he wishes he could spend more time with you but he knows he can't - not without jeopardising his volleyball career. He's also insecure, because he knows you could just leave him for a more fulfilling, more attentive, more balanced relationship. You know that too, I mean, of course you could leave him but no one would be as good as him. No one could match up to your beautifully flawed boyfriend.
✗ he is affectionate, very, very affectionate. He loves you so much. And because he spends so much time on volleyball, anytime with you he's touching you - memorizing every dint, every curve, everything about you so that he won't ever forget.
✗ Oikawa has trouble sleeping unless he's with you, he wants to sling to you in his sleep and be grounded and remember that he is loved and cherished and appreciated y'know?
✗ pda is not an issue for him. He doesn't care what anyone else says or thinks :P in this relationship the only opinions that matter are his and your’s. Tell him you're uncomfortable with something and he won't do it, and vice versa. But otherwise, like Semi, he won't mind having a good makeout session with you in the middle of the street ;)

Rodeo Gyro
notsfw !! // gn reader // taking care of Gyro and thigh riding
notes/warnings: thigh riding, mild biting, gyro teasing reader
I really wanted to write an nsfw Gyro fic since that cowboy makes my brain mushy. So here it is 🥰 yeehaw besties 💖✨
link to AO3
–NSFW BELOW THE CUT– MINORS DNI –
“On your left!” You grunted out with a heave as you tossed the hay bale towards Gyro. Droplets of sweat trickled down your skin, forehead already soaked from the heat and the beads running down your back not making it easier not to flinch as they settled at the base of your spine. It’s another scorching summer and the stables are worse off than the outside. You were never one to hate a good nap in the hay come wintertime, but during summers like these you wished to step out of your skin itself for some relief.
The blond easily caught your throw, letting out a small sound on impact he’d rather you didn’t hear. Can’t have you thinking he’s handling this heat any worse than you, now can he? Although, his shirt has been long gone. He proudly announced that Italians know how to handle heat, boasting that his grandfather worked in 45 degree weather and never as much as peeped about it.
You had rolled your eyes at his statement but the annoyance at his antics soon faded when he had revealed his torso.
His skin was a beautiful olive hue, no tan lines, indicating he had probably spent his spare time just as shirtless as now. The muscled lines surging over him seemed sculpted by God themself, a dewy shine having already settled on his godly abs and pecs.
And his arms, oh his arms. Those hay bales had kept him fighting-fit and soon your eyes trailed the expanse of his chest where short curly planes of hair rested, only further emphasising his muscular pecs.
Like you were being guided by the valleys and streams of a gorgeous landscape, you arrived right at the river mouth: a trail of more short curly hairs barely visible by their champagne colour leading you down a path of despair you’d happily embark on. It led all the way from his belly button down to where his jeans started, his signature belt buckle making you realise just how dry your throat had gotten.
And all this in a mere second, or two. Or at least five, who are you kidding? You had cleared your throat and resumed throwing Gyro the hay bales one by one, trying your hardest to focus on the task at hand. It had been going well too, a steady pace made time fly by quickly. Just a couple more to go and you’d be able to gulp down a liter of water and a glass of iced tea to top it off.
If only that glimmer of a bead of sweat making its way down Gyro’s sculpted back hadn’t distracted you. As Gyro slowly turned, time almost seeming to have slowed, you threw the bale right at his middle, much lower than anticipated and landing it straight into his ribs. You gasped and rushed over quickly to your helping hand who was bent over and breathing out painful wheezes.
“Watch where you throw those! Christ…almost knocked me back to Napoli”
But he regained his unaffected self after a few deep breaths, while you knew how heavy these stupid bales were. He swatted you off as soon as you tried to check the place of impact.
“Sorry Gyro…I got distracted! Uh, if you want I can finish up alone!”
You felt bad for letting him get caught in the crossfire of your longing stares, cursing this damn heat once again. He only brushed you off with another quip and urged you to throw the last couple ones faster so you’d both be done quicker. You could clearly see the hit bothered him but he remained ever prideful and kept on working till the last bale was stacked.
“Hey I’m sorry, man. I’ll watch out better next time. I think I have a salve that’s really good at soothing pain. I can go-“
Before you could even finish Gyro tutted, waving his hands a little too close to your face and scrunching his nose.
“That’s enough, I’m a grown man, I’ll live”
And with that he grumbled off, back to the main house where Johnny had been resting on the porch, trying just as hard to beat the heat.
—
Ointment in hand and as stubborn as the Italian you were bringing it to, you knocked on Gyro’s bedroom door. He had his own private guest room at Johnny’s place, they’ve basically moved in together but neither is admitting to it for some god-knows silly reason. But as much as they’re best friends, you’ve also got a neat spot on Johnny’s moderate ranch he acquired after the race. A bed to sleep in and a roof over your head for when you’re helping out at the stables like today.
Your knock was curtly answered, the door being swung open in one swift move, sending your hair flying in the startling wind of his antics.
A bit taken aback by his brashness you cautiously stepped inside. You were used to Gyro’s behaviour by now and had a feeling he was feeling a little grumpy, since he always gets like this when he’s hurt but too prideful to admit it.
“So I got you the ointment…” you leaned on the heels of your boots tentatively, trying not to stare at him.
Gyro had moved back into the chaise longue that rested at the end of his bed, obviously miffed, clenching his jaw while crossing his legs. Obviously the idiot was in pain with every move, and badly trying to hide it too.
“Gyro, stop being such a baby. Here-“ you slid over and joined him, the little glass jar already opened by the time your behind fully met the soft cushioned seating.
“ ‘M not being a baby. Just- do your stupid ointment thing please” He huffed under his breath, uncrossing his legs again.
“You uh, you’re gonna need to take off your shirt for that. Do you need help?”
Your question might have been earnest, filled with care for your close friend and his well being, but a small part of you was chomping at the bit to see his beautiful torso again. This time, even closer.
“Fine. Try not to stare as much though, darling. That’s what got me stuck with this pain in the first place” his remark was quick, finally turning to face you, his big golden grin shining back at you. Like his grills were rubbing salt in the gaping wound you didn’t know he knew about.
“Oh-“ you paused, trying to control the heat rising to your cheeks.
“Well. Shut up before I poke your bruise!” you scooped up a small dollop of the cooling ointment, hand hovering just above the already purple spot forming on his ribs. You really did a number on him with that hay bale.
Gyro clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes, friendly bickering between you two was never far off. But his cheeky annoyance quickly washed away as the cooling gel met his warm skin. Your touch was gentle, rubbing circles on the sore area while your other hand rested on his waist. You looked so focused, your brow scrunched up and lips pressed tightly together in concentration. He’d always thought it was cute how lost you could get in your tasks. And he was beyond pleased he was your task for the moment. So pleased in fact, that he found no use in holding back his wiles anymore. Perhaps the lack of sweet and caring touches got to him- not that his pride would let him admit that fact.
“Say, why’re you holding on to me so tightly, sweetheart? I won’t run” Gyro teased, his tone dropping down to a sultry smooth grit that made your cheeks heat up once more. His comment made you snap out of your focus, realising that he’d been right. His comment only making you want the earth to swallow you whole.
“Just trying to be thorough, Gyro. A-and you were squirming! Now let me finish-“ you defended yourself. Not that you seemed all too sure of your case, the way Gyro smirked at you made your resolve falter more and more with each second passing.
“I wasn’t squirming” his eyes had all but cast over with a deeper hue of alluring emerald. His calloused hand now gently holding your wrist. You could only helplessly stare up at him, the shift in mood not having gone unnoticed. A familiar heat already earning footing between your thighs. Somewhere deep inside you were scolding yourself, angry at Gyro’s effect on you. Letting yourself get distracted and now turning to putty when he’s only holding on to your wrist. Angry that you wanted nothing more than for him to continue whatever scheme he was up to.
With your wrist still in hand, Gyro closed the small glass jar of ointment and slid it further along the chaise longue.
“Well I must thank you for taking care of me, even if it was your fault I got hurt-“ The fires blazing in your eyes and the sour look you shot at his remark only made him chuckle.
“Yes, Gyro. I was there.” Through gritted teeth and nothing short of annoyed you tried to tug your wrist out of his hold. It only made him tighten it around you.
“I wasn’t done talking, darling.” He tutted.
“Let me return the favour. I’m feeling charitable today”
“Gyro, what?” You rolled your eyes, what was this idiot getting at? First, he gets all sensual and now he’s straight up teasing you. Not that it wasn’t just as titillating, his pet names for you only made your head swim and thighs clamp together.
His answer was clear, setting you down on his lap in a quick move that caught you by surprise. And there you were, the spot you’ve only fantasised of being. His natural musk having become the very air you breathed to survive. Stunned and still slightly confused you let him put your arms around his neck. Your legs however, were strategically placed on either side of one of his thighs.
“You in for the ride? I won’t hold it against you if you want us to stop” His tone was sincere, gaze softened just enough to let you know it was alright.
“Y-yes. Yes. I- yes Gyro” you sputtered. God, this was embarrassing but you were glad you didn’t sound as desperate as you really were to be this close to him. At least you thought so.
And with that, the blond cowboy was satisfied, letting out a little “nyoho” that somehow remained sultry.
You suddenly became all too aware why he’d placed you like this, over his thigh. But there wasn’t much time to think, not when Gyro moved into your neck, placing soft kisses along your jawline. His lips were softer than you’d expected. His breaths so nice and warm whenever he moved further down your sensitive skin.
“I’ve seen you ride,” he murmured into your skin just below your left ear. “Now show me how it’s done, cowboy” goosebumps rose all over your skin, letting out a shuddering moan as he bit into you. Not quite hard enough to make you yelp out in pain, but just enough for you to rock your hips straight into his tensed thigh.
He continued his assault on your neck, bites and kisses alternated on each side as you rocked your needy heat on him. With a particularly hard bite, your arm snapped to right next to Gyro, exactly where his hat had been laying on the chair. Even in the heat of the moment you grabbed it and plopped it down onto his champagne locks.
“Keep it on please” your breath shuddered as you continued. He had moved his lips to your shoulders now, moving away your top to reach every spot he wished to worship.
Every swish of your hips drove you further and further, lost in the pleasure as your head felt like it might just explode. Tingles had already started making their way up your abdomen when Gyro released himself from your skin.
“Tell me what you want,” He asked roughly. He was having a hard time keeping it together, it seemed.
“Y-you, Gyro” you whimpered, slowing yourself and burying your face inside the crook of his neck. Too embarrassed to face his stare just yet.
“I know that, sweetheart. But tell me what is you want exactly”
“Gyro…” you whined, burying yourself even deeper.
“Yes?” He quipped, pulling himself back and taking your chin between his thumb and index finger, that stupid grin antagonising you.
Cheeks heated and puffy you had no choice but to give in. “I want you to fuck me Gyro. Are you happy now?”
“Nyoho, very happy! I knew that” he laughed.
“Oh fuck you!” You grimaced, still trying to chase that fleeting peak that you were so close to.
“I like hearing you beg for it, darling” his lips had finally met yours, melting away any and all of his teasing, just like that. God, he made it so easy to give into him. He was just as playful now though, swirling his tongue and clashing his lips with yours like he was taming you.
As he continued his sloppy passionate kiss back down your jaw, you sped up your riding. Never one to finish last.
One last peck and one last tug of your skin between his golden clad teeth and you could feel fireworks rising all the way up to the top of your head. Gyro grinned widely as he admired you, using him like he’d asked you to. One less thing he needs to fantasise about, he’s living it. And eating up every single second of it, the throbbing in his pants nearly took care of itself. He stared in awe, your face contorting in pleasure as you tried your best to contain your desperate moans. Your breath was ragged as you came down from your high, letting your full weight rest on his thigh even though you were beyond sensitive at this point.
“You’ve never looked better riding like that, beautiful” a single soft peck touched the tip of your nose, the gesture was surprisingly gentle.
You had regained your senses enough to start up your own round of teasing. Sporting the same grin he had just a minute ago, you started pushing him down the chaise longue, landing him on his back.
“Oh?” He quirked an eyebrow. The pain in his ribs all but forgotten thanks to your treatment.
“I ain’t done riding just yet. Better hold on to that hat cowboy” slick as ever you dove down to return a forceful kiss that nearly knocked the breath out of Gyro. Not before letting out a “nyoho” in his surprise.
Oh, he was going to like this even more than your last rodeo.

Baby Mine [Yandere Overhaul x Reader]
Title: Baby Mine [Yandere Overhaul x Reader]
Synopsis: The first time you laid eyes on your child, you knew: You had to get out. Set in the ‘White Picket Fence’-verse.
For request: Something with Overhaul + the reader’s children and manipulation (I’m sorry I accidentally deleted the original message so I don’t remember the exacting wording!)
Word Count: 3328
notes: yandere, stockholm syndrome, abuse
From the instant you laid eyes on your daughter, the moment your gaze took in her fresh, wet skin and her small, blinking, uncomprehending eyes, you knew: you had to get the fuck away from Chisaki Kai.
The realization was instant, like a flash, peeling away years of manipulation and training and forced self-acceptance of your situation. Years of justifications and excuses that had wormed their way under your skin, forcing you to see the bright side, to see his side, and let yourself get wrapped up in its candy-coated, fluffy cotton bullshit--gone, ripped away with brutal, exacting force. All that was left was the stark realization, a single driving force shoving you forward: you and your daughter were going to get out.
That was four years ago.
Four years of agonizing pretending. Of forcing yourself to put back on the coat you'd worn before, the false version of yourself that loved him and accepted him and excused everything he ever did to you. It was hard. It was harder to pretend that you accepted this than to actually accept it, to indulge in his control. But every time your resolve weakened, it only took a glance at your child to remind you of why you couldn't just give in.
You had to get out, not for yourself, but for her. To give her a normal life. A life where she could be free, where she could have friends, where she could run outside and not be limited to the house or, if the weather was nice, the secure, high-fenced backyard that Kai had only built within the last year.
Four years of pretending. Four years of planning. And, most difficult of all, four years of waiting. Trust was not easily given by Chisaki Kai, even to the mother of his child.
So you waited.
You waited for Kai to move you two--no, three now--into a house, a real house; not in a populated suburb (another broken promise that you swallowed deep, deep down) but an offshoot of some protected compound in a remote area, where it could be secure and guarded. But what mattered is that its doors connected to the outside, not to some unknown underground bunker. You could manage, if you were connected to the outside.
You waited for Kai to ease up on the restrictions that built up around you during your pregnancy, rules to keep you under a far more watchful eye, rules that made it harder to find a way out. Inches of trust, gradually earned, which made it possible for you to think concretely about escape.
You waited for your daughter to get old enough to run, old enough to survive without needing to be fed every few hours, old enough to know how to stay quiet when told. Watching her grow up only made you want to leave, more. She had a personality now. Stubborn but accepting when she knew she wouldn’t win; sweet in her own way, an unusual way, likely one that came from a lack of interaction with anyone but her parents and a handful of trusted Shie Hassaikai members.
It was one of those trusted members--you never have learned their name, a secret Kai (nor they) were willing to give--that would be your key to escape.
They loved your daughter, too, in time. They were drawn in by her precociousness, her insistence on formalities and pleases and thank-yous. But it was her bubbliness and inherent interest in the world and people around her that made them decide to love her, too.Her big eyes and bubbling laugh when you two were allowed in the yard, sometimes under this member’s supervision.
To your daughter’s delight, they didn’t simply watch you like the handful of others did; they joined in the fun. Just a few weeks ago, she’d convinced him to push her so high on the swing set that she’d gone all the way around--even your heart briefly froze until she’d emerged on the other side, cackling with delight, safe and sound.
They were loyal to Overhaul. Of that there was no doubt. Had they killed for him? Maimed? Tortured? You tried not to think about the things that were done in Overhaul’s name.
Yet they’d betrayed him, all for the sake of your daughter. Part of you feels bitter that they wouldn’t betray him for the sake of you--but then, what was that saying? Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
It was with their help that you were finally able to secure that last necessary piece of the puzzle for your escape: getting out of the secured, monitored gate surrounding the house unnoticed. He told you in hushed, intense tones that he would be on watch duty the night of your escape, that he would take care of the other member assigned that night, and that all you had to do was get out the door at the agreed time with your bag, your daughter, and a good pair of walking shoes. He would drive you as far as he could, and then you two would run, run, run after that.
It was going to work. Your daughter was going to live her life, a real life, not one carefully constructed in captivity. What would you do first, once you were free? The thoughts sometimes made you so giddy that you pinched yourself to calm down. So close, so close to the finish line, and you must be vigilant.
Tonight. You and your daughter are going to leave tonight.
Your daughter is in her bed, tucked in safe and secure. Her eyes are already closed, and Kai is sitting at the edge of the mattress, as always, smoothing down her hair and pressing a chaste kiss to her forehead. You watch from the doorway with your arms casually crossed, a small, tired, end-of-the-night smile on your lips. It's all so normal, so domestic, isn't it.
"Good night," he says, so soft and sweet that, if you hadn't been pulled out of your deluded coping mechanism, you might find it endearing. Instead, your thoughts scream: This will be the last time you ever see her, you fucked up piece of shit bastard. Oh, do you have a potty mouth when your 'husband' can't hear you...
He leaves your daughter to her dreams and clicks off the little lamp on her nightstand. When he crosses the doorway, you make room and he lets you slide your arm around his, linking yourselves together for the walk to your shared bedroom.
"Tired?" He asks, and you nod. You are tired. Not for the reasons he thinks, and not for the reasons you'll give, but the telltale darkness under your eyes belies the stress of planning your escape from a years-long ordeal.
You sigh, as soft and sweet as his voice was earlier. "Mmhmm. She didn't want to focus on her lessons today. I got a bit frustrated. Sometimes I don't think I'm cut out to be a teacher." By now you're in your bedroom and you casually take off your day clothes, dropping them in the labeled hamper in front of the closet. Your stomach twinges with the memory of how he used to look away when you took off your clothes.
But that was long ago, and now he continues the conversation casually as the pair of you strip and change into your respective pajamas. You slip a pink nightie with ruffled bottom over your head as he
"You just need more practice. Are you reading the lesson books before you start class?"
I wouldn't have to read any lesson books if you let her out of this house, if you let her out of school, if you weren't--you stop your thoughts, afraid that they might show on your face. Afraid that you might lose everything at this last, crucial moment.
But you know you look frustrated, so you roll with it. "Yes," you say, voice just the right amount of annoyed in retort. "But if she doesn't want to sit down and focus, me reading the lesson beforehand isn't really going to help, is it?"
He stares at you, and you wonder in a flash if you went too far. But in the next moment, he's simply continuing to button up his shirt. "Is it going to help our daughter learn if you take out your bad day on your husband?" His voice is dripping with the natural condescension that once had you questioning whether or not it was okay to be upset that he'd kidnapped you, and you hate it. But at least it's a sign that he bought your excuses.
You feel a warm flush of shame at the way his condescension still makes you feel less-than. You slide yourself into bed, under the covers, instinctively grabbing the book on your end table and staring down into it like you could simply disappear inside the pages. You can't mess up anything right now. The weight of what you need to do tonight feels so heavy and you can't stop your hands from trembling slightly.
"Sorry," you whisper, voice thick with emotion. "It's just hard sometimes. I feel in over my head."
It's Kai's turn to slide under the covers, though he doesn't bother grabbing his own book. Instead he gently pushes on your hands until you set the book on the covers. You know he wants you to look at him, so you do. He looks so gentle, so calm. Did he kill anyone today? Did he insult some hapless victim who crossed his organization, spewing venom with his words, before kissing your daughter goodnight hours later?
His gloved hands tip your chin up and it's a familiar feeling, an intimate feeling, when he pulls you in for a kiss. When he pulls away, he's smiling softly, indulgently. You aren't in trouble. You're good.
"I'll come home for lessons tomorrow and see what I can do. Would you like that?"
I'd like you to drop dead and make this easier on us, you think.
"Yes, Kai."
You smile. You nod. You let out a shaky sigh and lean your shoulders against his, picking up your book and signaling an end to the crisis. He lets you read quietly for a while before turning off the lamp on his side of the bed; it's a wordless signal that you already know: time to sleep. You're a dutiful wife and you put your book away and turn off your lamp and then turn back to your husband and whisper,
"Good night, Kai."
**
You wait until he's deep asleep to ease your way out of the bed. Every step you take in your padded socks makes you cringe. Will the floor creak? Will you make too much noise? Will you have to come up with a half-assed excuse as he comes to, groggily asking what you're doing? You feel like you can't breathe, but you do breathe, soft and shallow as you make your way to the bedroom door.
You didn't dare keep anything related to your escape in your shared bedroom. The door feels like it weighs a thousand pounds as you ever-so-slowly open it, keeping your head turned towards the man sleeping on the bed all the while. He doesn't stir. He simply continues to snore, even as the door opens enough for you to slip out.
Your heart is pounding in your chest as you cross the hallway and into the spare room that you used as a playroom and, lately, a makeshift school. The bag you packed is in the closet, tucked behind bags of school supplies that you'd asked Kai to pick up in order to make sure that your escape bag didn't stand out. You grab it swiftly, along with your daughter's outdoor shoes, and make your way to the most dangerous element of your escape: your daughter's room.
She did so well. You remind yourself to praise her once you're away from the house, once you're in a car and making noise isn't a life or death dilemma. You built up the idea of your escape bit by bit over the past few weeks. You couldn't tell her that her father was a monster who kidnapped you, but you could prey on her desire to see more, to go beyond the rules established in her father's domain.
Don't you want to meet other kids? Go to the beach, feel the sand underneath your feet? Meet... your grandma? We'll just take a secret trip, you and me, and then come back to Papa when we're done. Then he'll see that it's safe to leave and come with us next time. But you have to keep it a secret. You can't tell him a thing, or we won't be able to go. You can keep a secret, can't you?
You kneel next to your daughter's bed and gently wake her up, whispering her name and stroking her hair, so she slowly opens her eyes in confusion before her gaze lands on your face and ah, a smile--it's just mom.
"Mama?" She asks, a bit too loudly for your liking.
"Shh baby," you say. "Yes, it's mama. Are you ready to go?" You see the tentativeness, the childish confusion in the way she nods. She doesn't know what real life is yet, she doesn't have an inkling of the freedom that she's lost, but she will.
You don't bother changing. You have a pair of clothes in the bag and you'll change when you're in a safer space. For now, you take her hand and lead her down the staircase, your chest tightening with every step. You can't help but glance back at the still-open doorway leading to your bedroom. You pray to whatever is listening that he won't wake up. Each step is a step closer to freedom. Each step is a terrifying risk that you or she might slip, might make noise, might wake him up.
Your spirits lift when you reach the bottom of the stairs. All you have to do is get out the door and he'll be waiting there with the key and a getaway car and freedom.
You clutch your daughter's hand, your own palm now sweaty; you nearly trip on a toy you forgot to pick up earlier, but thankfully the light in the entryway was turned on (you must have forgotten to turn it off) and you see it just in time to avoid disaster. You squeeze your daughter hand and turn the corner that leads to the entryway of your home--
Where Chisaki Kai is standing, waiting for you, his eyes practically illuminated by the glowing lamp light.
You drop the bag.
"No," you say. "No." Your mind suddenly feels fuzzy, like its buzzing, drowning out all of your thoughts with a pure denial of what you see in front of you.
"How--how did you--" you sputter, unable to continue voicing your question. It was all planned. It was all practiced. You pretended, you waited, you planned--for four years. How? How did he know?
He doesn't have to answer. You know the moment that your daughter's grip slips out of your hand and she runs up to her father, feet thumping on the floor. She clings to his side and doesn't look at you, and he runs a hand through her hair without taking his eyes away from your shaking form.
Of course she told him. Of course she told her papa that you wanted to leave. She loved him. Why wouldn't she? It was all she'd ever known. You were breaking the rules, breaking the structure that dominated her life since she could remember.
"Please don't be mad at me, mama." Your daughter whimpers against Kai, and you can hear the tears in her little voice, and your heart aches for her in so many ways.
"I'm not," you whisper. "I'm not mad at you, baby." You're just sad, so sad. It hurts. All of it.
"Sweetheart," Kai says, voice surprisingly calm despite the events, "go back to bed while I help your mother unpack your things, all right?"
Your daughter nods and suddenly she's against you, hugging you in a tight, childish way; you only have enough energy to pull your arm around her, limp and heavy, patting her back without really feeling it before she scampers up the stairs.
You're left alone. With him.
He approaches you slowly and you feel like an animal. There's wildness hammering in your heart and the thought comes up, unwillingly: could you still run? Escape on your own? And hope that some day, your daughter escapes and finds you? But the thought of leaving her behind is impossible to indulge in for more than a second, and you know that without her, your life isn't worth living. The thought of abandoning her to Kai Chisaki brings up an immediate sense of revulsion and guilt and shame.
"What were you thinking?"
You aren't looking at him, but you don't have to be looking at him to know that he's glaring at you. Looking down on you with his gaze filled with righteous justifications. You glance and--yes, he is, but there's something darker, something you’d forgotten, underneath. Your stomach suddenly feels loaded with weights and your legs move backwards, pulling you away from him, away from the anger that feels like it's radiating off him in waves.
He suddenly grips your chin with brutal force and yanks your jaw forward, forcing you to look at him.
"I had to kill one of my most trusted men today because of your..." His eyes dart back and forth for a moment, before he spits out the apparently perfect description of your escape attempt. "Hysteria. An absolute waste of potential, all because of your ridiculousness."
Your mouth is dry. Your voice is hoarse. But you speak up, anyway. You've already lost everything.
"It's not ridiculous to want to get out of here."
The weight of the years seems to press down on your shoulders, pounding into your bones, screaming in your ears.
"It's not ridiculous to--to want to take my daughter away from the man who kidnapped me and forced me to pretend like I was happy here, like I was happy living in some--" you cough, needing moisture, but not daring to stop to swallow lest you lose your courage. "--glorified dollhouse while you tell me what to do and what to wear and how to act and when to fuck you and when to have a baby and fuck you, fuck you, just fuck you Kai. I hate you. Oh I fucking hate you."
You don't notice as your voice gets louder, emboldened by the adrenaline that's been crashing through you since you opened the bedroom door, until his hand is gripping your upper arm in a show of brute, vise-length strength.
"Lower. your. voice."
His grip strengthens until you cry out, and then it gradually loosens without letting you go completely.
For the next few moments, you do nothing but stare at one another. Your mind feels hazy, darting from thought to thought. It was all for nothing. The last four years, all for nothing. But you think about your daughter, about what she may have been able to accomplish outside of these walls, and even the fantasy of a free life for her made it worth something--didn't it?
It's his voice that lowered, now, as he lets you go completely and straightens himself up. All business now. But what business will he engage in, this time?
"Perhaps you do need a vacation," he says, finally. Firmly. He's made a decision.
You wonder if he's lost his mind and you're about to ask as much before he continues.
"Did you know this house has a secret room? It's nice and quiet. The perfect place for you to recuperate until you've regained your senses."
The room, the room, the room.
Your hand instinctively claps against your mouth as you cry out.
After all, you don't want to wake your daughter up with your screams.

Hiii! Can I request no.9 from the cliché prompts and fake dating au?
Making Amends
Abby Anderson x Reader
Prompts: 9. “There’s only one bed and we sleep as far away as possible from each other but wake up cuddling” 18. Fake dating au
Warnings: swearing, fluff, hint of angst, Owen and Mel slander (sry I had to)
No pronouns are mentioned for the reader
Link to the prompt list here
A/N: Both tropes are literally my favourite things ever and it was so fun to write so ty for requesting it. It ended up way longer than I intended so uhhh yeah hope you enjoy LOL (esp if you requested it)!!
“What the hell Abby?! Have you been telling people that we’re dating?” You had cornered Abby into a secluded hallway, trapping her against the wall with your finger on her chest accusingly.
There was a flicker of fear in Abby’s eyes as she chewed on her lip nervously. Abby was considerably stronger than you and you probably looked like a mouse trying to intimidate a lion, but you didn’t care.
Abby couldn’t meet your burning gaze, all she replied with was a prolonged “Uhhhhhh”.
“Abigail Anderson, answer me right now or I swear to God-” It was rare for you to whip out her full name. And maybe it was kind of a cheap move, but it was a cheap move that almost always worked.
“Fine!” Abby interrupted, letting out a short sigh and preparing herself for the worst. “I kind of told Owen we were dating and I'm pretty sure he’s been telling other people.”
She said the words as quickly as possible, closing her eyes like a bomb was about to go off. Your reaction wasn't far off to say the least.
“You what? Why the fuck would you tell him we’re dating?” There was venom in your words and Abby flinched just slightly.
You were angry, incredibly so. You and Abby have always been close friends, or more so you had been until she started dating Owen. At first it was small things; cancelling plans or leaving early because she was busy and you completely understood. It’s not like you didn’t want her to hang out with him, and obviously you wanted her to be happy, but eventually it got to a point where she hardly ever spoke to you. Aside from the occasional greetings in the busy stadium, it was like you guys had never even been friends.
Now, after completely ignoring you for the past months, she decided it was a good idea to tell people that you guys were dating? It only seemed right for you to be pissed off.
“I just... Everyone kept looking at me like some sad puppy dog because I broke up with Owen, which normally I can handle. But every single day I kept getting the same sad fucking looks and I couldn’t take it anymore, so I told them I was seeing someone. I never mentioned your name but they kept prying, and prying and you were the first person that popped into my mind. I’m really sorry Y/N.”
You didn’t say anything at first, instead you looked at Abby without a hint of emotion on your face, and even less in your tone when you did finally speak. “Why didn’t you tell me you guys broke up?”
Abby paused, she didn’t know what response she was expecting but it definitely wasn’t that. “I um, I figured you knew. Pretty much everyone in the stadium knows.”
“Yeah well… I didn’t.” You were quiet. A part of you was angry and annoyed, but another part of you pitied Abby. She had never been one to lie, especially about something as petty as this.
Before you could think of something to say, Abby broke the silence. “Listen, I know you probably hate me right now, but I need to ask you a small favour.”
“Seriously?” You nudged Abby’s chest, pushing her into the wall again. The pity quickly dissipated to nothing, leaving you once again with a seething rage.
“Look, I know things between us haven’t been ideal but-“
“Haven’t been ideal?!” You interrupted, the absolute ignorance in her words tipping you off the edge. “Abby, you threw me away like I was trash! We were friends and you left me to hang out with Owen. I didn’t even know you guys broke up because you don’t tell me shit anymore!”
“I’ll do anything Y/N, okay? I’ll do your laundry, clean your room, I’ll even take your shifts for patrols.” Abby’s hands were on your forearms as she spoke. “Please just do this one thing for me and I’ll spend the rest of my life paying you back.” There was sincerity in Abby’s face, a hint of desperation too.
You paused. What could Abby possibly want so badly that she’d be willing to do all this for you? Even though you were angry at her, you’d be lying if you said you weren’t just a little bit intrigued.
“I’ll do anything Y/N, please. There must be something that you want.” Abby pleaded, absolute seriousness in her eyes.
“What I want is to never see you again.” Your finger was pointed at her chest again, poking her lightly.
Immediately you could see the hurt on Abby’s face. Okay, maybe that was a little bit harsh (and kind of petty) but you weren’t just gonna let Abby off that easily. Not after everything she’s done.
“Fine…” Abby paused to contemplate her next words, wiping the sadness from her face. “Fine, after tonight if you do this thing for me, we’ll never have to see each other again, I promise. I just need you to come to this party with me. We don’t have to talk or hold hands or anything and you can spend the whole night hating me, but I just need you there.”
“I-“ You couldn't do that. You couldn’t just pretend and lie to all of Abby’s friends for a whole night… Could you?
“Please Y/N. It’s embarrassing, okay? When we broke up, Mel immediately jumped in to fill my space. Everyone knew it and I had to pretend like I didn’t care so people would stop treating me like a wounded animal. If they find out I lied about you? I don’t think they’ll ever stop seeing me that way.”
You looked at Abby and felt a tinge of sympathy, she looked so sad and desperate, and for a second you even considered it. One night couldn’t hurt, right? Wait, no.
You mentally slapped yourself, trying to snap yourself out of it. You were not going to give in that easily. Nope. This was Abby, the same girl who threw away your friendship like it was nothing, and you were not going to let her use you like this. Not even while she’s looking at you with those sad, blue eyes. Nope, you’re mad, you’re angry, you’re-
“Fine.” Fuck.
“Yes! Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Abby’s eyes lit up as she wrapped her arms around you, lifting you into the air while she let out a breath of relief.
What did you just get yourself into?
—
“I can sleep on the floor, it's really no problem.” Abby offered, there was a slight nervousness in her tone as she stood in front of you shifting her weight on the balls of her feet.
“Abby, that’s stupid. It’s not like I’m infected or something.” You huffed, reaching for the box of matches to light the candle next to you.
Sometime after the party there had been a power outage and the entire WLF base went lights out. Meaning there was no heat and most annoyingly, no lights.
After a night of uncomfortable looks and even more uncomfortable conversations in which you spent most of the party trying to avoid Abby’s friends, she was walking you back to your room when everything suddenly went dark.
The both of you practically crawled to your room before you could locate a light source of some kind. It had been an hour since the power went out and you insisted that Abby sleep in your room, for… safety purposes.
You shook the match till it was out, suddenly you were thankful for impulse buying those candles last week.
“It’s fine, I’ll just crawl halfway across the stadium until I find my room. No biggie.” You couldn’t tell if she was joking, but something in you felt like she would actually do it if you didn’t insist she stay here.
You sighed. “Just sleep here Abs, it’s easier and I’m offering. Plus, I don’t need you army crawling across the entire WLF base. It’s hard on the arms, even for someone as strong as you.”
“You think I’m strong?” Abby smiled teasingly and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes, looking away as you tried to hide the small grin on your face. God, it was hard to stay mad at Abby.
“Shut up and take the bed.” You could tell Abby was reluctant but she still plopped herself onto your bed. She sat awkwardly on the edge, unsure of how this was going to work.
You tried to ignore Abby’s weird energy as you buried yourself beneath the covers. It took a minute for her to actually lay down in the bed but when she did, she was careful to keep her distance. It was pretty funny (and pretty cute) how unsure she was.
After a few minutes of silence you heard Abby whisper your name softly, almost like she wasn’t sure if you could hear her.
Nuzzling your nose into your pillow you whispered back a small “Yeah?”.
“Thank you.” You could hear the genuity in Abby’s voice, how grateful she was for such a simple act and suddenly it hit you, you didn’t want her to leave you alone. You missed this—missed Abby.
Instead of responding you nudged her foot lightly with yours. It was something you guys had done as kids, like a silent way of saying “I’m here.”. Under the dinner table with the Fireflies or during training when you first joined the WLF; it was an unspoken thing between the both of you. An action that spoke much louder than words possibly could.
The both of you laid on opposite ends of the bed, your backs turned to each other. You shifted under the sheets before finally finding a comfortable position, you fell asleep that night to the steady sound of Abby’s breathing.
—
You were first to wake up, confusion washing over you when you felt your head rising and falling. Why the hell was your pillow moving? Then it hit you; it wasn’t the bed moving, it was Abby. Your head lay resting on Abby’s chest, her arm over your back while your limbs were wrapped around her like a giant stuffed animal. The sound of her beating heart was soft in your ears and you could feel her breath coming out in steady increments, blowing lightly against your head.
You weren’t sure what to do about your compromising position. It was already too late for you to leap out of her arms and a large part of you didn’t want to move anyways. So you decided to pretend to sleep until she woke up. That way you wouldn’t have to decide what to do, she would.
Abby woke up shortly after you, you could tell she was awake by the way her breath hitched in her throat upon noticing how you guys were situated. However, instead of jumping out of the bed in a panic, Abby didn’t move either, and it took everything in you to not open your eyes.
After a few moments of stillness, you almost thought she had fallen back asleep. It wasn’t until you felt a light touch on your temple that you realized she was awake. The touch so light you nearly missed it when Abby brushed a small strand of hair away from your face.
Then slowly, Abby pried you off of her and you nearly let a small groan slip from your lips when you felt the absence of her warmth. She gently rolled you over, covering you with the blanket before walking into the bathroom.
That’s when it happened: the ache. A sharp, jarring ache in your heart that you only felt with her— that you haven’t felt since the two of you were best friends. It had left you when you and Abby stopped talking, but it returned just the same when you witnessed the tenderness of her actions. You never thought to put a name to this feeling (and maybe a part of you didn’t want to), but it was near impossible to ignore it.
You couldn’t possibly be harbouring secret feelings for Abby, right? You tried to distract yourself from these thoughts, it was way too early to be worrying about these things.
Feigning tiredness you rolled off the bed and headed towards the bathroom. You knocked on the door and when Abby opened it you noticed she was in the process of redoing her braid.
You leaned against the doorway as you watched her skilled fingers work. “Abs?”
“Hm?” She replied as she tied off the end of her braid.
“I didn’t really mean what I said to you last night… about never wanting to see you again. I’m sorry.” You picked at your thumb anxiously, eyes wandering around the room, looking anywhere but at Abby.
Abby turned to face you, letting the braid fall to her side. “You don’t have to apologize Y/N, I deserve it. I didn’t even hesitate to leave you when Owen and I started dating, and I was-“
“Stupid?” You finished for her, looking up from the floor to meet Abby’s gaze.
“Stupid. And for what it's worth, I’ve really missed hanging out with you Y/N, even if it is under these circumstances.”
“You know… I think I know a way you can make it up to me, if you’re still up for it?” Abby looked at you with a raised eyebrow and you noticed the corner of her mouth curling into a small smile.
“Oh yeah? What would that be?”
“You see, there’s this guy that’s been trying to ask me out for weeks even though I keep rejecting him.” You gave Abby a tiny grin as you continued. “Well, maybe if he found out I was dating a certain soldier who could pound his ass into the ground, then he’d leave me alone.”
Abby nodded her head nonchalantly as she took a small step towards you, crossing her arms across her chest. “You know what’s crazy? I think I have just the person for you.”

Edward Cullen: That Boy Ain’t Right
So I was doing a reread of @therealvinelle 's collection of Twilight metas, as one does, and in "Edward, Denial, and a Human Girlfriend" she mentions that she doesn't believe Edward is sane. I thought, "ha, yeah, he's definitely not," and also, "but wait, what does that mean exactly, please say more about that." But since she's already inundated with asks, I've decided to use my own head-muscle and explore this idea. (TL;DR: I start out more or less organized, synthesize some points Vinelle has made across several posts (and have hopefully linked to them all where relevant but please tell me if not), touch a little on narcissism, then take a hard left into the negative effects of being a telepath.)
Just a couple things to note at the outset, though. Theses have been written already (probably) about Edward as an abuser. Edward being insane doesn't negate that at all; he's definitely an asshole and just...a disaster of a human being. (I find it more funny than anything, but YMMV.) I'm also going to try to avoid talking specifically about mental illness and how it relates (or doesn't relate) to abusive behavior -- that's territory I'm not really equipped to discuss, like at all. My starting point is "Edward has a deeply warped perception of reality," not "Edward has X disorder."
So: deeply warped perception of reality. The evidence? Goes behind a cut, because my one character trait is Verbose.
Vinelle provides a great example of it in the post linked above, which I'll just quote because she does words good: "[Edward] keeps acting like his romance with Bella is a romantic tragedy, and all the cast of Twilight are actors on a stage making it as sublime as possible." Edward's the one to pursue Bella, but he does so with the full belief, from the very beginning, that it will never last; Bella will "outgrow" him, go on her human way, and he can spend the rest of eternity brooding magnificently over his too-short romantic bliss. [Insert premature ejaculation joke.] Turning her is never an option, even though Alice, Noted Psychic, says that romancing Bella will either end with her dead (exsanguinated) or dead (vampire).
This framing, where he's a dark anti-hero in love with -- but never tainting! -- the pure maiden and eventually leaving her in a grand, tragic sacrifice to preserve her soul? It's fucking bonkers. Bella isn't a person to him in this scenario. As Vinelle points out, Bella's never really a person to him at all; he falls in love with his own mental construct, cherry-picking from what he observes of her behavior and her responses to his 20 (thousand) Questions to convince himself that she is the ideal woman.
Bella's not the only one who gets the projection/cardboard-cutout treatment. Edward sees everything and everyone through a highly particular, personalized lens. He filters his entire reality, which we all do to an extent, but the thing with Edward is that he starts with his conclusions and then only pays attention to the evidence that supports those conclusions. Often that evidence consists of what he admits in New Moon are only "surface" thoughts -- but recognizing that limitation doesn't keep him from taking those thoughts as representative of what people are. Edward then becomes absolutely convinced by his own "reasoning" and won't be swayed from what he has decided is Objectively True. It's obvious with Bella; it's also painfully obvious with Rosalie. (Vinelle explains this and brings up Edward's raging Madonna/Whore complex in the same post, so refer to that again -- she's right.)
He also catastrophizes. Everything. Bella's just vibing in her room, rereading Wuthering Heights for the 87th time? She's gonna be hit by a meteor, better sneak into her room while she sleeps. Bella's going to the beach with the filthy mundanes their human classmates? She's gonna fall in the ocean. Jasper's cannibal pals are stopping by for a visit, but know not to hunt in the area? DISASTER, DEFCON 1, ALSO FUCK YOU JASPER FOR EVEN EXISTING IN MY AND BELLA'S SPHERE YOU UNSPEAKABLE BURDEN. Edward must believe that Bella is vulnerable and in near-constant peril, to support the reality he has created in which he is the villain turned protector and maybe?? hero??? (!!!) for his beloved. So when the actual, James-shaped danger arrives, he goes berserk, snarling and flipping his shit and generally not helping the situation. His fantasy demands that Bella remain human, so instead of doing the very thing Alice, Noted Psychic, assures him will neutralize the threat (and not just a threat to Bella, either, but to Bella's family and any other human James might decide to include in the "game"), he vetoes it immediately, no discussion. Bella Must Not Turn, and he sticks to those guns despite James nearly reducing her to ground beef, despite leaving Bella catatonic with depression (but human! success!) in New Moon, despite Aro's order and his family's vote and, let's not forget, Bella's clearly and repeatedly stated desire to be a vampire. It's going to happen. But he doesn't accept it until Renesmee busts out of Bella like the Kool-Aid man and the poor girl's heart finally, unequivocally stops.
Sane people don't behave this way. I don't want to slap labels on Edward, but I can't help but note that he comes across as highly narcissistic. He's the only real person in his universe, the lone player among us NPCs. That probably has a lot to do with him being frozen in the mindset and maturity of a seventeen-year-old boy, but I think it's also just...him, on some fundamental level. His failure to connect with others and recognize them as full, independent beings with their own wants and priorities isn't like Bella's failure -- she's badly depressed. Edward is...something else, and I get the sense that his sanity has been steadily deteriorating over time. And a cursory google of narcissistic traits turns up some familiar-looking stuff. He's self-loathing, yes, but also grandiose; he hates himself for the monster he is (and hates most vampires besides Esme and Carlisle for their monstrosity, too) but still feels superior to humans, to the extent that he felt entitled to human blood and resented Carlisle for depriving him of his "proper" diet. He eventually returns to Carlisle, but he's far from content -- the beginning of Midnight Sun finds him in a state of ennui, bored and dismissive of (if not outright disgusted by) everyone around him, that has apparently persisted for years and years. He doesn't play the piano, he doesn't compose, he doesn't enjoy anything...at least until Bella comes along and then he becomes obsessed to a disturbing degree with her and his new, romantic tragedy spin on reality.
[Next-day edit: I’m not sure where else to fit this in, but the way Edward casually contemplates violence against people who have, at best, mildly annoyed him is...chilling. I have a hard time writing off his strategizing how to murder the entire Biology class as a result of bloodlust -- it’s so calculated, nothing like the blackout state of thirst Emmett describes when he encountered his own “singer,” and that is probably the default for when a vampire is extremely thirsty. But even ignoring the Biology class incident, Edward still does things like consider, with disturbing frequency, how he might grievously injure or kill Mike Newton, all because...Edward considers him his romantic rival (despite Bella barely giving the kid the time of day). He thinks about slapping Mike through a wall, which might be an amusing slapstick image, except as a vampire Edward’s actually capable of turning this boy’s skeleton to a fine powder. So it’s, y’know, kind of sick when you think about it.
But even worse than that, when Bella tells Edward about how she flirted with Jacob to get at that sweet, sweet vampire lore, Edward chuckles and then, after dropping Bella home, flippantly observes that now that the treaty’s broken, why not genocide? I’m not even kidding, it’s right there in Midnight Sun; he seriously thinks about the fact that he’d be technically justified now in wiping out the entire tribe because a teenager tried to impress a girl with a spooky story. That is fucked. Remember, Edward was there with Carlisle when the treaty was first established. He knows how remarkable it is that they even came to a truce in the first place, that it was only ever possible because Carlisle is...well, Carlisle, and that it marks a pretty significant moment in supernatural history. He doesn’t care; he doesn’t respect it, or he’d never think something like “Ha ha, if I went and killed them all, I wouldn’t even be wrong. I mean, I won’t do it, but I’m just saying, I wouldn’t be wrong.”
Again: not the thought process or behavior of a sane person. (Or a person that respects life in general -- sorry Carlisle, big L.)]
Finally, whether he's a narcissist or not, I think the fact that Edward has constant, unavoidable access to everyone's thoughts is a powerful contributing factor to his instability. He can tune out the mental noise to an extent, but he can't stop it -- so he comes to rely on it like another sense. This causes issues with disconnect and lack of empathy, of course, but there's another facet to this shit diamond: he's basically experiencing a ceaseless flow of intrusive thoughts. His narration in Midnight Sun suggests that he "hears" the words people think, can "see" what they visualize in their mind's eye, and can sense the emotional "tone" and intensity of their thoughts. Therefore, perceiving Jasper's thirst through his thoughts makes Edward more aware of his own, "doubling" the discomfort. This would be a lot to deal with even from just his immediate coven members, but Edward gets all of this pouring into his head like a firehose on a day-to-day basis because the Cullens live right alongside humans. I know Meyerpires have galaxy brains or whatever, but that's a ton to process.
Besides the compounding effect on his own thirst when he "feels" the thirst of others, Meyer never suggests that Edward has difficulty separating his own thoughts from other people's; even when he was newly turned, he recognized Carlisle's "voice" in his head as Carlisle's. That would create a whole different host of issues around identity, but it looks like Edward's escaped that particular torment. However, I can easily imagine that what he does experience is just shy of unbearable nonetheless, with an eroding effect on his sanity over decades. He can't sleep to escape it; he's on a dishwater diet and probably (like the rest of his family) experiencing a perpetual, low-grade physical discomfort due to his thirst never being fully satisfied; and he's around far more people than is the norm for vampires -- even discounting all the humans, his own coven is unusually large -- meaning more noise.
Honestly, it would be weirder if he were all there, considering.
And even though I feel like I lost a sense of structure around where I started ranting about telepathy, I've written like 1.5k words about Edward fucking Cullen and I think that's enough for one post.

(not my gif, creds to the original creator :))
Today was the day. Yamaguchi had never been so confident with one of his decisions before. But this one. This one he was sure of.
He tucked the broken pieces of his heart into some deep part of him as he stared at himself in the mirror. He stared at himself in the mirror for a second before nodding to himself. Today was the day, he whispered to himself for what felt like the millionth time. Today was the day he would let go.
He knew it was going to hurt, he knew that his heart was already falling apart but it didn’t matter. How can you be broken hearted over losing someone when they weren’t yours in the first place?
The day started like any other school day, Yamaguchi meeting up with you and Tsukishima on the corner of the street where all your paths met. Like usual, you and Tsukishima were already there since you both lived closer than Yamaguchi did.
“Hi Yams!” You beamed up at him and he tried his best to give a genuine smile back. Why did this smile look so much different than the one you gave Tsukki?
“You took longer than usual,” Tsukishima commented, raising an eyebrow at his best friend.
Yamaguchi had hoped he wouldn’t noticed, but it wasn’t really all that surprising that he did, “Just got up late,” he said with a smile, trying to be convincing.
Tsukishima watched him for a moment, raising an eyebrow as if to ask are you sure you’re okay? Yamaguchi just gave a small nod and then turned to you as you talked about the project that was due today.
He wanted to keep walking with you, listening to you go on about your day, about the dog you saw on your way over, about your family and anything else that made you smile. But he kept slowing down his pace, watching from behind what it would look like, you and Tsukki walking together. Why did you two look so much better than he could ever dream?
“Yams?” Your voice drew him from his thoughts, him offering his typical I’m okay smile. “You seem really out of it today, are you feeling sick?” You asked, pressing a hand to his forehead to check his temperature.
He wanted to press against your hand just a little longer, the feeling of your skin on his always made his heart flutter. But instead, he just laughed and shook his head, “I’m alright. I guess I’m still a little asleep!”
You seemed to buy it and nod, linking your arm with his, “Come on then, don’t slow down on me. If you do, I have to walk with Tsukishima and I don’t think he likes my company,” you laugh.
Tsukishima just rolled his eyes and pulled his headphones on like he normally did in the mornings when the three of you walked together. Yamaguchi always wondered if he did this so he could have more privacy to talk to you. Tsukishima had known right away that Yamaguchi’s heart only beat for you. But what else did he know?
Did he know that Yamaguchi would always step back for him? Did he know that you just seemed so much happier with him, the one who was so much cooler? So much taller? So much smarter? That you would be better off with him?
But you just talked on, trying to get Yams back into how he was normally, asking about his weekend and morning. By the time you all got to school, Tsukishima said something about needing to go find the third years and talk to them about something. It was a lie and Yamaguchi was sure of that.
Tsukishima had been trying to tell him lately to stop being so scared and just tell you how he felt. He even insisted that you had been trying to drop little hints all the time but Yamaguchi was sure that Tsukishima was just exaggerating (though, he wasn’t really the exaggerating kind). But how had Tsukishima not noticed how much time you spent by his side? How had he not realized that you always seemed to try and get his attention, always tried to get him talking?
You had to be in love with Tsukishima Kei, Yamaguchi was sure of that. Because who would ever go for him, an emotional freckled loser, when Tsukki was around?
“Yams, do you think confessing ruins a lot of friendships?” You asked softly as the two of you walked slowly through the almost empty courtyard, not a lot of students on campus yet.
His eyes locked onto yours for a moment, the surprise in them flickering away as he quickly looked away, “What do you mean?”
“I mean... it’s so easy for friends to fall in love isn’t it? You know everything about a person, see everything they are, the good and the bad, and... you just can’t help it.” There was such a lightness to your voice. Yamaguchi’s heart was pounding against his chest, was this the moment you’d tell him? That you were in love with his best friend? What was he even supposed to say?
“I... suppose,” he mumbled quietly, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Are you in love?”
“I’ve never been in love before,” you admitted shyly, smiling up at his direction but still noting that he was refusing to look at you. “But I think I might be.”
Somewhere, Yamaguchi wanted to tell her that Tsukki would never be interested. Even if Yamaguchi wasn’t in love with you, Tsukki didn’t really seem all that interested in relationships right now. So wouldn’t it be better for you to not bother getting her heart broken? Because his was already breaking and it was hurting like hell - shouldn’t he try to save you from that. He wanted to tell you to save yourself, but instead he heard himself say, “You should tell him then...”
He closed his eyes, ready for you to tell him with an excited tone that you were going to find Tsukki. Tell him how you felt. He saw a flash of a lifetime in his head, what you would look like on your first date with Tsukki holding your hand, how your smile would meet Tsukki’s eyes more than Yamaguchi’s, how you would offer your heart to Tsukki, and not Yamaguchi-
“I’m trying to, but he’s refusing to look at me,” you said suddenly, a laugh in your voice. What was that in your laugh? Was that... nervousness?
Yamaguchi’s eyes popped open, looking down at you with surprise. “W-What?”
“If you’d just pay attention to me, this confession would’ve been over a while ago,” you laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of your head. Now that he was looking at you, your eyes didn’t want to meet his.
“Confession?” Yamaguchi’s voice cracked and his ears were burning with embarrassment now.
You bit down on your lip, a nervous habit of yours, and pulled out a cute little teddy bear plush from your backpack, “I got this at the arcade we went to a few days ago. And that day, when it was just you and me, I realized that you’re the only one I want to be with all the time. You’re always there for me and after meeting you, every one of those songs I listen to just... makes sense.”
Yamaguchi was dreaming wasn’t he? He was going to wake up in a few seconds and be sorely disappointed. He was going to punch his pillow and shed a few tears because this was all just a dream right?
“I know we’ve been friends for like forever, and that volleyball takes up a lot of your time lately. But if... I dunno if maybe you feel the same way, maybe we could go on a date sometime? There’s this cute cafe I heard about nearby and they have these milkshakes that I think we would like-” you rambled nervously, noting his open-mouth expression and lack of response.
There was one thing that Yamaguchi was never able to do during dreams. One thing he always wanted to do but always woke up before. He had to wake up before he fell too far in this dream, he had to wake up before he wasn’t able to and this dream took over his whole mind. Before he could think through it rationally, Yamaguchi took your face in his hands and pressed a quick peck to your lips.
His lips felt like heaven against yours, your eyes widening as he stood there, holding your hands like he was even surprised he had been able to do that.
“Y-Yams?” You squeaked, unsure that that had really just happened.
“That doesn’t normally happen,” he murmured to himself, staring down at you like you were going to disappear in a few seconds.
“W-When?” You whispered back, a little confused.
“When I dream about this,” Yamaguchi’s whole face was going red now. His eyes were widening and his fingers were starting to shake against your cheeks. He pulled away from you, clasping a hand against his mouth realizing what he had just done. “I-I’m not dreaming.”
“N-Nope,” you can’t help but laugh, holding a hand over your lips. “You dream about me?”
“Y-Yea. No. I mean. Not like... weird things or anything I just-” Yamaguchi rambled, shaking his hands in front of him nervously. “I’m so sorry, Y/N, I thought, I just normally don’t-”
“You know, when I told Y/N to confess to you today, I didn’t think you’d react like that,” Tsukishima laughed from across the courtyard, grinning bigger than Yamaguchi had ever seen before.
“Y-You knew?”
“Y/N’s been annoying me all week about it,” Tsukishima rolled his eyes, “Something about wanting to know if feelings were reciprocated or something. As if you two haven’t been drooling over each other ever since meeting.” He shrugged like this was a normal thing, like seeing his two friends confess and kiss was just a typical Monday morning thing.
Yamaguchi’s chest was feeling so tight, like his heart had stopped working from shock. Was this a heart attack? Is this what all those people were always warning you about? Was he dying?
“Oi, Tadashi, you haven’t given her an answer yet,” Tsukishima scoffed, shaking his head. “Accept her confession, ask her out on a date, and then let’s get to class. People are going to start staring soon.”
Yamaguchi spluttered out a, “I really like you, Y/N!”, his cheeks burning with embarrassment and surprise, wishing he could rewind and go back. He took the teddy bear that was still in your hands, smiling a little at the cute bow around its neck and the smile on its face that was looking back at him.
You just giggled and rocked on your feet nervously, “Well I’d hope so. You don’t go around kissing girls you don’t like do you?”
“O-Of course not!” He shook his head, letting out a nervous laugh. “That cafe date sounds really nice.”
The two of you just stood there for a moment, shyly avoiding each other’s eyes until Tsukishima sighed while walking over, and pushed Yamaguchi over to you, “Alright, let’s go then.” He said, as if fed up with you both but Yamaguchi swore he saw a smile on the salty boy’s face.
“I really like you too,” you whisper to Yamaguchi later, taking his hand in yours and letting your fingers tangle together.
Later, Yamaguchi would tell you he honestly thought you were into Tsukishima and would laugh when your nose scrunched up, “Oh God no!” You smirked, shaking your head. “I was trying to make sure he liked me. I figured you wouldn’t go out with a girl that Tsukishima wouldn’t at least tolerate.”
Yamaguchi laughed and pressed a kiss to your cheek. He held your face in his hands again, just admiring your face and the way you smiled at him. This smile seemed to be reserved just for him and he wanted to look at it forever.
That was the day that Yamaguchi promised himself he would never let you go. You were his now, and he didn’t ever want to lose you.
