I've never really self-identifed as butch because my style sensibility leans more toward effeminate gay man/eccentric grandparent but while my girlfriend was visiting, the clasps that held the shoulder strap of her handbag kept breaking (thanks temu), and finally I got fed up and fixed it by
a) wrenching off the old clasps with a pair of plyers and
b) replacing them with the only clasps I had on hand, which were 2 giant carabiners
and yeah, now that I think about it, that is incredibly butch lesbian behavior.
Can we talk about how Right Back at Ya! made the Galaxia sword even cooler than it already was? Like, in the games it's kind of just a weapon, and that's it. But in the anime it's this ancient magical relic that shoots arcs of electricity at will and appears from the hilt with this epic flash of light, and it's like Thor's hammer where only those who are worthy can pick it up and use it, not to mention the LORE behind it-
I mean, this kid's show about a happy pink ball really said, "Oh and by the way, Meta Knight acquired the Galaxia sword after one of his closest comrades and fellow star warriors willingly sacrificed her life during a quest to retrieve it so that he could escape, thus adding a tragic layer of history to not only it but Meta Knight as a character and making it one of his only remaining ties to the star warriors after all of them but him were wiped out, as well as creating a burden for him to protect the sword and use it well since he's one who's been chosen to wield it. :)"
I will forever be so upset that the Ice Chapter didn't give us a Kai VS Ice Emperor fight like come OOOON!
And I'm not even coming at this from an oppo angle. Like yeah, I love oppo, everyone knows that, but it just feels like such a missed opportunity to have Kai have to fight Zane and have him be the one to get him to snap out of it. But no, it has to be Lloyd because he's Lloyd.
And another thing that makes me so upset regarding the missed potential here is the fact that in the Fire Chapter, the big bad villain is Aspheera. And at the end of the Fire Chapter, Zane is the one who defeats her, you know, the master of ice. So then in the Ice Chapter, it would make sense that the one to defeat the big bad would be Kai since he's the master of fire and it would make for good parallels or whatever. But no we don't get that.
At the very least we get that awesome, badass scene where Kai defeats Boreal and saves the others. That scene was amazing, I just with we got a little more from Kai, you know?
and another member of the lov gets what they thought they wanted but at what cost. spinners has been the most interesting to me so far because it parallels so neatly with izuku’s. both of them feeling powerless and accepting a quirk because that’s what they thought they would need to be powerful and change things. both of them sitting across the table from each other, scarred and broken by the quirks that they accepted. spinner realizing too late that it wasn’t a quirk he needed to save his friend—it was just him. and maybe not accepting those quirks in the first place would have put him in a better position to save shigaraki (but all for one didn’t want him to save shigaraki, so). shigaraki’s murderer and his best friend. hm.
but also, to have it come back now, to have spinner say this now TO izuku, in the same chapter that izuku is like ‘how can we stop this from happening again (how can we stop the next person lashing out before they get past the point of no return)’ and tsukauchi is like ‘we can’t without more heroes’ like NO! that’s not the answer! spinner told him the answer. it’s not in a quirk or in more heroes. it’s being willing to reach out and see someone for who they are.
