It was crazy watching bkdk go from the most hated ship to the most popular ship in the fandom

so basically a gwynriel wrote a fic about azriel pretty much abusing Elain, with no content warnings at all, put it in the elriel tag and then complained and cried victim when elriels were upset about it? it's such disgusting behaviour. it makes me so sick and tired of this fandom. That fic was just vile. Stuff like that NEEDS to be tagged. Had it been tagged properly and put not in the elriel tag but in the anti elriel tag, it would have been one thing, because writers should have the freedom to explore stuff. But this was not that, AT ALL. What she did was simply vile, disrespectful and very likely done to intentionally upset, and potentially trigger elriels who might have trauma tied to that specific content. It's so vile I have no words. i don't write, but if i did, there's no way on earth i'd write a fic of Azriel abusing gwyn, put no tags or warnings on it and then put it in the gwynriel tag, knowing I could have been the reason for triggering someones trauma. its not just basic etiquette, it's basic decency between human beings. But only elriels are held to that standard. I was sick to my stomach by that behavior.

Im not going to say I’m an aspiring writer cause quite frankly - i cannot string two coherent sentences together with the correct grammar but as someone who likes to dabble in writing, the only thing I disagree with is publically calling the writing bad, say it privately. I know how I would feel if I posted a fic and someone told me it was terribly written…I would not be writing ever again and thats the only part I feel bad about when it comes to the critique the author is receiving. I understand how disheartening it is to have something you wrote talked about badly in terms of writing style/spelling/grammar especially if it’s something you struggled with. So Yh, I just don’t agree with that aspect of this whole thing.

Now wtf were they thinking…idk. You’ve publically hated on elriel, said they had 0 chemistry as characters, then proceeded to make fun of elriels - and now want to write an elriel fic…for the same demographic you’ve basically antagonised? Its an interesting choice. If you’re claiming to be a multishipper, you ship multiple couples within the fandom…yet that person does not ship elriel. “Oh but I like the idea of them, just not in canon!” Okay but you’d still have to like elriel together which again, the author does not like them together and has said so. Im sorry, but you cannot write a fics of couples you hate. You just can’t. It will always lack passion which is noticeable to readers.

If you need to take elriel out of canon context, add “banter” to make them more enjoyable etc, you’re be better off writing for a ship you actually like such as Gwynriel which is full of banter as their stans claim or do it as your own characters. Create your own story which you can tailor to your preferences. Im also going to say this/ When writing for a couple thats within a book series, even if your fic is in another AU - the concept of the couple should remain the same. Every elriel fanfic has the same core elriel dynamic whilst being able to simultaneously explore them in different contexts. If I’m reading an elriel hogwarts inspired fic, Im not going into the story expecting a different elriel dynamic. Im expecting them to be the same elriel I know and love but in a different context. That fic wasn’t elriel, and if you’ve made the decision to write about elriel the least is understanding the beauty of the couple. What the ship is at its core. aka do some research. I understand wanting to explore characters but that just wasn’t azriel or elain. And the thing is - I understand the concept and where the author was coming from - elriel just did not suit that concept.

To the contents of the ship - Yes anon. You are right, with such a detailed snipped there should have been a warning. What its about, what to expect etc - thats the bare minimum. And what was written in that fic - I understand 100% that it came off as triggering bcs it did not seem consensual. I cannot agree more anon; authors NEEDS TO TAG when including or writing about very heavy topics straight away. Im not going to say the author had the intention to hurt or purposely trigger anyone, but yes. The fic came across as disrespectful and just bait even if that was not the intention. I don’t even know what would make anyone think that the same people you’ve trashed on would happily read your work on the topic you trashed them for 😭 The fic shouldn’t have been tagged elriel. No tags or just the general az/elain tags could’ve been used - alomg w the content tags

I agree anon. If an elriel had done that to gwynriel, they would’ve received the same horrified treatment and we would not have heard the end of it. If you’re writing DR and heavy topics for the love of basic decency- INCLUDE CONTENT TAGS, that should be common sense for anyone.

What Pets I Think Different Karasuno Ships Would Have In The Future:

KageHina would have a turtle for reasons I do not know and cannot confirm but just suspect deep in my heart. Like, Hinata seems like the type to think turtles are cool and Kageyama seems like the type of guy to really like reptiles (they’re autistic. bite me.) Turtles can be left alone for a while, as long as they have food, water, the right habitat and someone to at least check in on them daily, so I think it would fit their super fast paced pro volleyball player lives.

DaiSuga would have this giant ass ex-police dog that retired after working with Daichi for a while. It’d be a really sweet, but huge, German shepherd that lives only to torment Suga. It’s Daichi’s dog, but will happily stand directly under Suga’s feet while he’s trying to do literally anything. Suga pretends to hate it, but Daichi has like a million of those “my husband and the dog he didn’t want” pictures of the two of them being pals when Suga thinks no one is looking. Sometimes Daichi brings his huge dog with him when he drives to pick Suga up from the school. All the kids love that dog, and Suga bends and lets Daichi bring it for career day one day. The kids lose their minds.

TsukiYama would have Yamaguchi’s childhood dog that I SWEAR he had in the manga, but I just googled it and I may be crazy or mixing him up with someone else. Either way, he has a childhood dog now. It’s this mega-old Shiba that they’re both convinced will outlive them. Tsukishima pretends to be indifferent about the dog, but he treats it like a king when no one is looking. They also have like a lizard or something because they seem like the types to have a lizard. Maybe like a frog. Idk, but a reptile of some kind that Tsukishima just stares at sometimes.

AsaNoya would have two cats (Asahi’s) and a dog (Noya’s). It took the two of them a while to settle down, due to the nature of their careers, but after they did Asahi kept finding cats outside their house and begging Noya to let him keep them. Noya, of course, folds. They're both pretty scuffed-up alley cats, but they adjust to domestic life. I imagine that they’re both special needs cats of some kind and Asahi takes insanely good care of them. Noya decides that he needs a little high-energy friend, and they get a border collie. Noya very frequently goes on runs and stuff with it while Asahi stays home and cuddles with his cats. The dog is very gentle with the cats, and they like to cuddle pile while their humans take a million pictures of them.

TanaKiyo would have literally the dumbest looking pit bull with the biggest heart and a super sassy pretty white cat. The pittie is a super sweet older dog that Tanaka had for a long time, but is still super playful and silly. The cat is Kiyoko’s little princess, and is treated as such. That cat is a menace. Constantly antagonizes everyone and is so mean for no reason. Tanaka threatens to sell it daily. The only thing stopping him is how much Kiyoko loves it.

(P.S. I haven’t watched the show in a while and am just going through my annual summer Haikyuu withdrawals, so please excuse anything that’s OOC. Also, sorry if there’s a ship you don’t particularly like. I’m a huge multishipper, and would love to see your interpretations of other ships in the replies or reblogs!!! I love them your honor. Doesn't even have to be romantic, I just want to see them being obsessed about each other. I'm also a pretty big obianidala fan, hence why I added her too. (I'm a multishipper really. I have my otp but there's a lot of ships that I enjoy)

1. Obi-Wan Kenobi/Anakin Skywalker(/Padmé Amidala) (Star Wars)

When I first watched star wars (not that long ago, I only watched it because I wanted to see the sequels in theater lmao) I wasn't a big fan of the prequels so I mostly ignored them, but then a couple years ago I randomly rewatched them in the middle of the night and suddenly I was obsessed. I'm not even sure how I ended up on AO3 (did I go look for obikin? Did I stumble on it? Idk) but eventually I started reading Pining in Preschool, then realised that @palfriendpatine66 was on tumblr, I started interacting with more people around here, and now I'm (slowly) writing fics, and I'm having the time of my life here, so thanks Pal!

I don't think any if my past fandom brainrots reached my current level so I'm pretty sure I'm here for the long haul (at least it's not stopping anytime soon).

It's not super obvious here but I'm actually a huge Marvel fan (well, the MCU, I've never read a comic), and especially Captain America. Stucky is just, 🤌 so tasty (a lot of similarities with obikin actually imo). I'd like to talk to whoever thought "I'm with you 'til the end of the line" was a straight sentence to repeatedly say to your bro throughout an entire century though. Like?? I'm all for relationships that defy the boundaries of platonic and romantic, but still, that's kinda gay.

2. Steve Rogers/James "Bucky" Barnes(/Peggy Carter) (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

The first MCU movie I saw was actually captain america 2 (and not the first one lol) in theater, and I was instantly hooked, though since Endgame I've been less into it, since my fav is gone (and I have to agree with tumblr on that one: they're making too many movies and shows, I can't keep up 😩)

(And I'm still super salty about what they did to steve in canon, they should have killed him off instead of whatever the fuck that was, honestly)

I also added Peggy because she's great, and polyamory is so much better than love triangles or shipping wars. (I'm not polyamorous but I believe in their beliefs. I think it's because of the aromanticism)

Same as with obikin (and stucky too tbh) I don't really care how they love each other, I just care that they do. They're the most important person to each other, be it romantic, platonic, familial, idc.

3. John Watson/Sherlock Holmes (mostly BBC Sherlock, but from the RDJ movies and the books too)

I've obsessed over (non-existent) clues during the last season, and deluded myself into thinking they'd become canon, alas, it didn't happen.

I've translated a couple of fics in french for that ship, but I've never written for it (I thought about it tho), and I've read a lot. That's the fandom where I've read some of the best queerplatonic fics, and that's my favorite interpretation of the ship, especially sherlock being some flavor of aroace.

4. Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens)

I love them as a queerplatonic relationship, and I genuinely think that's what they are in canon, the haters can suck it, that's not queerbaiting even if they dont become a canon couple.

Okay, I'm starting to see a patern here. Am I really that predictable? You can just copy-past what I said above.

5. Elizabeth Bennet/Mr Darcy (Pride and Prejudice)

Not quite the same vibe as the others, but I've read sooo many fics and books (straight up published fics lol), I've watched a bunch of different adaptations (even the one with zombies)... The worst part is that I think I've only read the og book once, oops.

I actually inherited that fandom from the women in my family lmao. My mom, sister and sister-in-law are all obsessed with it, so I read it to see what all the fuss was about and, yeah, I get it.

And that's it! There are other fandoms I'm into, and other ships in those fandoms, but that's pretty much it (the main one that's missing is Dinluke, the others are mostly smaller ones).

I'm not super actively in those fandoms (apart from Star Wars obviously) but i come back to them now and then. Usually I re-watch it then binge-read a bunch of fics (while my main fandom stays in the main spot in my brain) then I let it go again until it comes back (while obikin still stays in the main spot).

Also Harry Potter used to be my main obsession but JKR kinda ruined that for me so I'm not really into it anymore (hence why I didn't list it even though I have written fics for it).

… until it lingers. In which no one can resist the allure of Miyano Shiho. Kudo Shinichi is one lucky guy, or is he?

A/N: let me preface this by saying I’m not a multishipper but everyone loves my queen okay. I’m only tagging shinshi as the ship but know that this fic includes other Shiho ship potentials.

If you care or still want to read it, here’s the ao3 link (I was lazy and didn’t want to paste it here, plus it’s a little wordy. Like 4k, which is a lot for me okay)

I’m just gonna ramble my thoughts about other ships here cause I can:

Shuichi- okay listen this is a strict brotp for me. Like I could never otp this because I hella shipped Akemi with him. And as someone who has a sister, it’s just way wrong for you to ship yourself with your sister’s bf so yeah. I will never ever write an otp type fic for them, but brotp? Oh yeah, all the way. I honestly wish we would get more moments with them in canon.

Rei- I don’t have a strong opinion for this ship. Like I can understand it, but it doesn’t compel me. That being said some of my fav mutuals from this fandom ship it, so I support it. I admit it intrigues me cause there’s so many things I would want to know, the big thing being of course that he knew her mom! Then there’s the whole having been part of the Black Org thing. Anyways, I could be convinced.

Heiji- okay listen, I never ever would have thought I would ever ship this but fuck man. I have now read two fics where this ship was mentioned and I didn’t hate it! I was super surprised at myself like how??? But I mean I like the idea of them being a super solid brotp, so why not otp? There’s just so many complications though, like is he a replacement? But also I’ve said before that I should totally stan Heiji for one reason and it’s sports. I know nothing about soccer and have no interest, but baseball? Well it’s at the bottom of my fav sports, but I do care about it and have a team (two) so there you have it folks. My only thing about this is Kazuha. They’re legit the only childhood friends to lover trope I support in this fandom.

Sonoko- okay I don’t have a solid ship for her, but I have always thought that they would be a really great brotp if given the chance. Canon, do something about this. Idk I just think she’s fun and pretty shippable, though I lean on shipping her with Ran. This is the childhood friends to lover trope we should be focusing on y’all.

Ran- tbh this is another one of those I can’t otp this. Sorry not sorry. The biggest reason once again is the sister thing. Because she resembles Akemi a lot (which is why I could totally ship her with Akai but we’re not talking about that), like I just can’t ship her with Shiho. Again would love to see this brotp, canon come on, but nope absolutely not an otp for me.

Kaito- I say I’m not a multishipper but the truth is… I guess I am cause I really love this ship too. They quite literally stole my heart, hence my nickname for this ship. I could go on and on about why I love them, the most important being that they’re the two sides of the same coin dynamic that CoAi could never. I one thousand percent believe that they could understand each other in a way that Shinichi would never be able to, and that is why they got me so bad. Plus I totally believe that Shiho could ruin Shinichi but Kaito could ruin her and I love it.

Shinichi- do I even need to talk about this one? This was literally my otp for the longest time in this fandom. I mean they were my most tragic one, but still. If I’m being honest, I wish they still owned all of my heart even though they brought me the most pain. I get so sad thinking about them, it was bad. But, I had an otp and now I don’t and I cannot deal with it. I complain all the time, but I really don’t know how y’all multiship? I am in shambles and torn all the time. It’s the worst. So what I’m saying is, please take me back to CoAi hell. Even though I was suffering, at least I didn’t lose myself. Also I still can’t read bad endings for them, like it puts me in such a down mood. Plus I still really only read strictly CoAi fics, so really what am I doing here?

fuck tumblr I started typing a reply and it ate it up AGAIN

Anyways I was saying that I legit don’t care that you’re unfollowing me, you do you and you do what is necessary for your wellbeing. As I said in my age discourse post, if feeling good on the internet involves blocking or unfollowing then its perfectly fine, harassing people is just not. I’m barely even checking my follower count and I’m going to be blatantly honest, with the number I have I cannot notice one more or one less.

So yeah if you guys feels uncomfortable or whatever I will not go after you for unfollowing me.

I also said in my Walker post that I was tagging the Walker posts for people who enjoyed it so they could blacklist, but maybe you missed that, or I forgot to tag a self reblog maybe, I apologize if I did that. And I was genuinely wondering about that horse jump, because as I said, I was and still am occasionally a horse rider.

As for this post about the jump I just checked and now realize it’s blowing up so Im going to delete it. I heard a lot of bad worrying stuff about that person you mentioned (who is currently making my stupid ass 1 am post blow up for nothing but trouble) , from friends I trust, and I do not want to be associated with that person at all. 

I deleted the post now but tumblr works mysterious ways so idk how far this shit is gonna go. 

And I want to apologize if I hurt people in any way ? I’m not sure how that could be but we never know, so, sorry.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not? I generally do, at least if they have something I can respond to?  So maybe 75% response rate.  When people comment just emojis I'm like awww tons of hearts, but there's not really a lot to reply?

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Bold of you to assume my fics reach an ending.  Hmmmm... I mean maybe He Should Be Here.  It pretty much entirely deals with survivors guilt and doesn't have a positive conclusion, only exploration of that.

Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written? Not really?  Not as fanfic.  I have been involved in crossover roleplay though and that's a wild time.  :3

Have you ever received hate on a fic? Hmmm, not that I can remember?  I have received the "ummm, why didn't you do this instead" sort of entitled comments.  Where it's like, listen if you want a fic of that, how about you write it?

Do you write smut? If so what kind? I do yeah.  As for what kind hmmmm, I mean I've only posted 1 and it's PWP.  My unposted smut isn't done cause it's fluff and smut and I'm trying to get the buildup right.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yeah!  My mystery skulls one.  It was exciting someone wanted to.  It was translated into French!

What’s your all time favorite ship? Lol, I'm a multishipper, you can't make me pick one.

Whats a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? Alas there are many.   Maybe my Zhan Tirian AU?  Oh no, I know!  My TAZ Balance Frozen AU!  Had a lot of ideas for that bad boy.

What are your writing strengths? I feel like I do a good job with immersive descriptions.

What are your writing weaknesses? Long stories and like, the connective tissue to weave multiple scenes together.  I am much better with one shots.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I have done this, though it was a fictional/in universe language.  It's hard to do it in a way that works well, and usually I try to contextualize a bit with what the POV character would be aware of.  I have implemented little scroll over pop ups, but they're not obvious and idk if they work on mobile?

What was the first fandom you wrote for? Hmmm, probably the Spiderman Trilogy?  That's the earliest one I remember!  Never made it's way online.

What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written? I’m bad at picking just one, so I’mma do a top 2 of fics I got posted.  I like fics that explore the messy facets of relationships, evolving or deteriorating.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Not usually tbqh. When I first started writing I tried to be the sort of person who replies to each comment but honestly it’s pretty exhausting spoon-wise and I rarely have anything to say to most comments that don’t have, like, specific questions/comment to respond to. Plus it artifically inflates the comment count and honestly I get few enough comments that that’s just depressing to me.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Ah. Hm. I don’t view myself as much of an angst writer, and honestly angst doesn’t interest me much, but like maybe? philter of the phantom? since it’s got kind of an ambiguous ending?

Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written? I tend to do AUs more than crossovers because crossovers tend to involve, like, actual plot and shit? So I think the only crossover I’ve actually written is Starvb/Haat Verd?

Have you ever received hate on a fic? Not....really? I mean mostly I just get Fucking Stupid comments, or That One Asshole Who Pretty Much Always Leaves Bitchy Tags On Bookmarks. I think there was that one twit fairly recently who bitched that the second chapter of poor reception “should have a noncon tag since cody isn’t in the right mind to consent” as if it didn’t already have a fairly explanatory “Dubiously Consensual Blow Jobs” and “Identity Issues” tags.

Do you write smut? If so what kind? Yes! When it doesn’t drive me fucking crazy! *looks over my pornographic portfolio* It looks like I tend to favor consent issues, mild to moderate kink, possessiveness, and wonky power dynamics. And if it’s tagged “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat” I’m probably extremely fond of it lol.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge? I think that tends to happen to more plotty writers tbh.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Breaking my “only on this AO3 account” rule because yes! One of my older, on-a-different-account fics, was translated a few years ago! I think it’s in Mandarin...?

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? Ooh, yikes, again with the debilitating ADHD. Um. Probably that Gravebone fic, the Fright Night fusion with vampire!Graves? Idk maybe one day I’ll get bitten by the Fantastic Beasts bug again but idk I kinda doubt it.

What are your writing weaknesses? *blinks harder* I definitely can’t do plot to save my life, I know that. And also I assume “the writing part” isn’t an acceptable answer.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think it’s fun! But also my first real fandom was RvB so like! I have an extremely lax viewpoint on making sure that the other language is actually accurate! Like I actually tend to try with Mando’a but that’s literally because it’s like a fun little puzzle, trying to make something make some kind of sense in a fake language! Actual languages I tend to just Google Translate because, again, Red vs. Blue was a formative fandom.

What was the first fandom you wrote for? ...........Yu-Gi-Oh, next question.

What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written? Uhhhhhh, that’s a really hard question? “bells sometimes ring for weddings” and “darkness hides and always lies” and “trouble in mind” are things that I wrote purely out of spite that I ended up really really liking, and “peace is a lie” has indirectly made me a shocking number of friends, and “got me all beguiled” was the first thing I wrote for a fandom exchange, and “she wore it wonderfully well” came out pretty decently even if only about three people have read it, and “The Sun, The Moon, And All The Stars” is The Worst AU In The World (affectionate), and “where there’s poison, there’s a remedy” chews on my brain nonstop. So like. It really depends on how you’re measuring that.

A couple minutes pass with no response and you wonder if he’s actually dying…would that be the worst that could happen?

No. No, I don’t think that’d be too terrible.

But why would he ask you for help? I mean, it’s not like you’re friends—but then again, you’re the only one who knows who he really is…who else can he ask?

Fine. Be right there.

Turns out your fake doctor boyfriend already has a higher clearance than you. Your ID stops unlocking doors by the seventh floor, much to your chagrin, and you have to use the code Loki gave you to enter the psych/physiology floor.

Hall H turns out to be the furthest hallway from the elevators, so by the time you find it and start looking for the break room, you’re pretty sure he’ll already be dead. Since he was dying, after all.

You’re half expecting him to be lying in a puddle of his own blood, some other worker having discovered his real identity and not having as much self control as you did, but nope.

He’s still Robert Laing, reddish-blond and donning a lab coat that’s a little too short for him, staring at the vending machine in the corner.

“You came.” He doesn’t look up when you walk in, a dollar in one hand and two quarters in the other. “I’m shocked.”

“Of course you’re not dead,” you groan, turning right back around to walk out the door. “I gotta admit, by the fourth floor I was hoping—”

“I’ve given you every opportunity to kill me,” he snaps, making you stop in your tracks.

“You’re hard to kill. I shot the hell out of you that first time.”

He rolls his eyes. “Oh, please, your heart wasn’t in that.”

“Well, gee, I’ll be sure to mean it next time—”

“Next time?”

“I’m not very optimistic about our relationship, Doctor.” You cross your arms over your chest, scowling at him from the doorway. “Why’d you call me all the way up here? Just to rub it in my face that you have a higher clearance than me?”

“That was just an added bonus,” he sighs, turning back to the vending machine and waving his dollar at it. “I, erm…could use some assistance.”

Oh my god.

“You don’t know how a vending machine works??”

“I’m from another realm, stop laughing,” he hisses, and one of his quarters bounces off your forehead.

“HEY—”

“Just help me, woman. Please.”

“Well, since you said please…” you can’t help one more snort of laughter as you head over to him and take his money out of his hand. “Okay, what are you trying to buy?”

He points.

You try not to laugh.

“Okay, you have to punch in the code underneath it. B-4, see?”

“Here?” He points again.

“On the keypad, idiot.” You point to the keypad and watch him carefully enter the code. “Now you have to put in your money. Coins in here, bills in here. It’s a dollar fifty.”

“But I only have a dollar twenty-five—”

“Yeah, cause you threw one of your quarters at me, genius.” A big part of you wants to just tell him oh well, guess you can’t eat, but you fish around in your pocket for another quarter.

“Here.” You press it to his open palm, trying not to sound too annoyed. He’s just a big baby, you’re quickly discovering, death threats aside. “Found it on my way up, get your candy bar.”

There’s a beat of silence—shouldn’t have done that.

“…thank you.”

He sounds genuinely surprised.

“No problem. I mean, you are dying, after all.” You brush it away with a chuckle, smoothing out the corners of his dollar before trying to slip it in the machine.

“I didn’t know how to get you up here,” he admits, watching you closely. “Though nobody usually responds to my death announcements anymore.”

The machine spits his dollar back out and Loki huffs, trying to shove the bill back in the slot.

“Easy, Loki, stop it,” you laugh, taking the bill from him and trying to flatten it again. “Don’t force it in, just let it take it gently.”

You guide the dollar back in and this time it takes, whirring to life to retrieve Loki’s Snicker bar.

“That’s what she said,” you mumble to yourself as an afterthought, realising what you just said.

Loki coughs behind you.

“Sorry.” You turn around and give him a sheepish grin—he’s a little red in the face, but that might just be part of the facade. “Can’t help it.”

“That’s…quite alright,” he replies smoothly, taking the candy bar as you hand it to him. “Although…is that what she would say?”

“You disgust me.”

“And here we almost had a decent moment.”

“Almost,” you sigh, throwing up your hands in a helpless shrug. “I almost forgot you were Loki, to be completely honest.”

“Ouch. That seems unnecessary.”

“Dr. Laing isn’t completely unbearable,” you continue, holding up a finger to shush him. “So you can take…like, fifteen percent of the credit.”

He rolls his eyes again, ripping open his candy bar. “How gracious of you.”

“No need to thank me.”

You just stand there for a moment, arms crossed as he takes a tentative bite.

“Y’know, you seem more like a KitKat kind of guy.”

“I like chocolate,” he shrugs, “even more so when it comes with caramel.”

“Seriously?” You can’t help but grin—the more you talk to him, the less and less intimidating he becomes. There’s no way you’re letting this guy actually threaten you anymore.

“It used to be considered a delicacy meant only for the gods.” A flash of light fills the room and Loki’s back to Loki, gesturing at himself. “Back before your kind corrupted it.”

“Um, Loki, hate to burst your bubble, but humans invented Snickers.”

“Well, you’re not all terrible.”

Figuring you might as well take advantage of the opportunity, you flop down on one of the couches, staring at the god across from you.

…munching happily on a Snickers.

“Why are you doing this?”

He blinks and clears his throat, taking a couple steps closer. “What?”

“What are you getting out of this, all this pretending to be a doctor, getting hired here?”

“I have nothing better to do,” he answers carefully, studying your face with a quizzical gaze. “I certainly don’t want to be sitting in a cell talking through my emotions, so I might as well be putting my skills to use.”

“You’re actually taking patients??” You can only imagine what happens to them—Loki doesn’t come off as the kind of guy who’s taken his pledge to never harm. “What kind of doctor even are you?”

“To use your terminology, you’d consider me a neurosurgeon.” He sighs and lowers himself onto the couch across from you, still working on that candy bar. “Maybe in part a physician, as well.”

“Damn,” you whisper, undeniably a bit surprised. “That’s…a lot of work—for humans, I mean. Did you go to school for that?”

“I’ve studied my entire life. Never one particular subject, on Asgard w—they steer clear of limiting children’s knowledge to one specific field.”

“That’s pretty smart. Here, you’ve gotta pick one thing and just try to be good at that.”

“Identity can be terribly limiting,” he says quietly, picking at the candy wrapper. “If I identified myself as a ‘good’ neurosurgeon and only that, I don’t think I’d ever have discovered my aptitude for diplomacy, writing, mathematics, anything else.”

Diplomacy, neuroscience, math, writing, chocolate, caramel—this guy has layers, that’s for certain.

“So is this some kind of redemption plan?” You try for a smile, maybe feeling a little bit guilty for laughing before. “Gonna help a bunch of people to prove yourself and then make a big reveal to your brother?”

“That’s not a terrible idea.” He stands and stretches, crumpling his empty candy wrapper and tossing it into the trash bin. “Though I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I were ever redeemed.”

“You need to meet a nice someone, maybe settle down for the next few centuries,” you laugh, following him out the door as he shifts back into Dr. Laing. “Have a few creepy, greasy-haired babies. Might be good for you.”

He laughs and holds the door for you to leave the room, heading away down the hallway as you wait for the elevator. “That’s the furthest from a future I’d ever want, darling.”

“I’m not your darling, dipshit.”

current fandom stuff

I got into hockey RPF by befriending a person in fandom who pointed me to some m/m hockey romance novels, and despite not knowing anything about hockey beyond “puck goes in net” I was drawn in by the genre

then I wanted MOAR CONTENT so I went to the hockey rpf tag on AO3 and read a shitload of hockey fanfic

then I decided to look up what some of these guys looked like and after the initial “well that guy certainly has a face” reaction to many of them, I discovered the beauty that is Tyler Seguin’s abs

wanting to see more of his stupid face, I decided to watch some hockey games

........and then it turns out I kind of love it, and I haven’t actually been able to bring myself to watch anything other than hockey and hockey-related content for the past......ten months.....or so......my goodness

my fave teams is the stars, followed closely by the canes, then the avs

my fave player is probably sebastian aho at this point, sorry tyler

my fave hockey rpf ship is crosby/mackinnon in general but I also squeal whenever I see fic on ao3 for draisaitl/tkachuk

Hey so I'm pretty new to this fandom and was just wondering why is there so much hate for Valista? I thought at first it was just a ship war thing but it seems like there's a bigger issue I'm missing?

welcome to the fandom, anon! im sorry you only found it after it all went to shit

for me personally it’s not a ship war thing. i ship both ghanith and tanguine, and i have other ships for skug and val even if valdug is my otp. if i liked the ship, and thought they had chemistry, there’d be nothing stopping me from shipping valitsa and valdug. i live in a multishipper’s paradise.

but honestly? 

- i hate militsa as a character (along with most of the phase 2 characters, tbh). she has no personality outside of “really annoying boundary stomper”. all the phase 2 characters are flat, one dimensional and have very poor character development. i dont even remember most of their names or who has what power.

- almost every militsa fan/valitsa shipper i’ve ever come across has been some godawful little early-teens nuisance starting shit in the valdug tag, which makes me dislike her more. i’m totally okay with people not shipping what i ship or even shipping things i hate - i have my fandom sandbox and you have yours, and we don’t necessarily have to build the same castle - but if you deliberately seek out shippers of a thing you hate in order to fling abuse at them or start fights, then I have a problem with you, and it doesn’t make me like their ship very much either. 

- i don’t like bi!val. Dirty Laundry wrote her as an obnoxious thirsty straight girl for a decade, and then randomly decided to change that to get Representation Points and look progressive. what he’s actually done is make her seem totally ooc and force a badly written, awkward as hell, rushed “romance” he didn’t think through with someone she actively told to leave her alone to begin with and who then totally ignored that and steamrollered her anyway. if he wanted to give someone a girlfriend and show a f/f relationship, china and tanith are right there, have both been canonically bisexual for years, and are both single rn. either one of them would be better than going back on 10 years of how he’s written val. 

- ive seen so many lgbt friends/people in the tag expressing disgust/discontent with valitsa and how it’s written and how forced/awkward/ooc it is, along with bi!val in general. and it seems really shady that dick just? doesnt care. like surely if you’re wanting to be more diverse and do it well, you should listen to the groups you’re trying to represent when they say “this isn’t what we want”. the militsa fans seem to be more of the opinion that any rep is good rep, but they’re also all like 14 years old and don’t know any better. 

- im actually really bitter china didn’t get a girlfriend you dont even know i will fight landy, she developed so much over phase 1 and i would’ve been so here for her falling for someone and instead we get this mess that i cant even think about without feeling nauseous and ughhhhhhh

- the “chemistry” is….non-existent. the pet names?????? “pETAL”?????? i actually threw up in my mouth a little im not gonna lie it’s disgustingly ooc for val to let people call her shit like that and all their interactions are so forced and stiff and its just. yikes. i cant even read that shit. it’s like reading a preteen’s bad sp fanfic ft. their annoying oc, like some ffnet circa 2008 type shit. 

so like. long story short, idk what other people’s reasons are but tbh me shipping valdug does not stop me from also shipping val and skug with other people, so it’s not a shipping war thing. i just don’t like militsa, valitsa, or val/female love interest in general. and the “bigger issue” you mentioned, at least for most people i’ve talked to, is the shitty writing/how forced and ooc it is.
