Do you think the Good King had friends who were not royalty? Because I honestly see him capable of having hit it off with Badwolf (Not necessarily a friendship but they do get along well) I also see the Evil Queen getting jealous of anyone who is with the Good King.
yeah. he was definetly friends with Badwolf, Pinocchio and Mad Hatter. I think that he had quiet a lot friends who were royal growing up becuse of his status, but then when he got disowned due to his destiny he was slowly going low contact with royals and starting to spend more time with commoners.
He still has a very close friendship with Mad Hatter and Pinocchio

Hello! New to comics and I don't really feel like the New-52 comics are for me and would really like to read and understand Pre-flashpoint and all the dark and good stuff there. Is there an order or starting point you would recommend? Thanks for your time, and I hope you have a great day!
hi! i'm so glad you want to get into comics! i'd love to help with some recs! since you're here, i'm going to assume you're a Batfamily fan and most of my recs will cater to that, but i will try to encompass a bit of everything to help you just understand some big moments and all this mess that is DC canon. adding a cut bc jesus this got long.
so your starting point for pre-Flashpoint is going to be Crisis on Infinite Earths. the TLDR of this event is: DC had a big multiverse in the 70s and early 80s that wasn't friendly to new readers. to try to push their titles more and become a proper competitor to Marvel, they created an in-universe storyline that nuked the multiverse and gave a solid entry point for new fans going forward. this is why you hear terms like Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis. it refers to the comics canon before and after this event, in 1985. some characters had some big changes (for example: pre-Crisis Jason Todd was a circus kid whose parents were killed by Killer Croc) but most remained largely the same, just simplified. you don't *have* to start with Crisis on Infinite Earths if you don't want to. it's a *good* storyline, but it's a big one and a lot of big multiverse-scale stuff happens. so as long as you understand it as "big event that nuked DC's multiverse and gave the world a clean slate in 1985", then you've basically got the gist. also Barry Allen dies during it, but he comes back so don't worry about it.
in general, if DC has some big timeline/canon-altering event, they're going to call it a Crisis Event. the only Crisis Events that will matter to you, trying to get into pre-Flashpoint are
Crisis On Infinite Earths - the above, starts the Post-Crisis/pre-Flashpoint timeline
Zero Hour: Crisis In Time - an event in the 90s that sought to fix some of the kinks that the above Crisis caused, like fixing the origins of the Legion of Superheroes and other Golden/Silver Age characters, not *super* important tbh
Infinite Crisis - this was a big event that brought back some characters who got nuked by Crisis on Infinite Earths, unfucked Power Girl's backstory, and set the groundwork to bring back the multiverse. if you've heard "Superboy Prime punched a hole in reality and it brought back Jason Todd" yeah, this is the story where it happened
Final Crisis - a big event that was partly meta commentary but heroes fought Darkseid, Batman died for a hot second, it was all a big deal about evil winning and all that
Flashpoint - the event that nuked this timeline, a big storyline to do with Flash and the timeline that would result in the New-52 in 2011
are you confused yet? good embrace the confusion it's going to become second nature of a comic fan. you don't need to read these events as a beginner. you really don't i promise. they'll sound big and important, but besides Crisis On Infinite Earths and Flashpoint, the start and end of this era, the rest you can just kind of breeze by so long as you understand the big plot points like Batman dying or Superboy Prime punching reality. unless you really care about a character central to these stories, skip 'em for now.
now for any character, if they have a Year One comic? that is a very safe bet as a place to start. it is what it sounds like. Batman: Year One is going to be Bruce's first year as Batman. same as Green Arrow: Year One, Batgirl: Year One, etc. when in doubt, if there's a Year One, start with Year One. (note: for Superman, his "year one" type story is called Superman: Birthright and it is worth reading if you like Superman)
for Batman, i am holding you by the shoulders when i say this: people will tell you to read The Killing Joke. they're liars. do not listen to them. it's a bad story. you don't need it. do not let the Joker fanboys lie to you. people will also say Dark Knight Returns. don't listen to *them* either. i *like* DKR, i talk about it a lot here. it's not a good intro to Batman. it's an AU story, it's not canon, ignore it for now.
now where you *should* start with Batman, imo, is as followed
Batman: Year One - as said above, Year Ones are good, this is solid to start with
Batman: The Long Halloween - this is an iconic story and it's a followup to year One
Batman: Dark Legacy - the followup to Long Halloween, also a very good story
Batman: Hush - this story is a solid starter if you want to understand the general vibe of Gotham, the typical characters you see in the Batfamily, and a good Batman villain
once you've got the basics down, you *can* get into the big boy storylines like Batman: Knightfall and Batman: No Man's Land, but don't worry about those right now. they're long and complicated and shouldn't really be your starting point no matter how good they are.
other very good pre-Flashpoint comics that are easy to pick up and iconic storylines
Death of Superman - this is a long arc in the Superman run that if you collect in trades, goes Death of Superman, Funeral For A Friend, Reign of the Supermen, Return of Superman, Doomsday. it's long, but a very iconic storyline
Wonder Woman by George Perez - this the run that helped define modern Wonder Woman within the pre-Flashpoint era
JLA: Year One - if you want a good Justice League story where you get characters besides Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman taking the shine, this is a great place to start
Green Arrow by Mike Grell - start with Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters and then go into Green Arrow (1988). this has the darker, very 80s vibes that gets a bit gritty and very realistic with the issues it faces bc Green Arrow comics tend to be more rooted
The New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman - this technically starts before pre-Flashpoint, don't worry about it it's fine. a good run for all of these characters, can get a little confusing, it is okay to be confused do not be afraid to google shit
so, some big stories out of the way i'm just. honestly going to run down the line of the major pre-Flashpoint Batfamily members and give you comic recs for them that you can start with. (besides Bruce obviously, bc well. see above)
Dick Grayson
NIghtwing: Year One
Robin: Year One
Nightwing (1995)
Tim Drake
Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying
Robin (1990)
Robin II: Joker's Wild
Robin III: Cry of the Huntress
Robin (1993)
Barbara Gordon
Batgirl: Year One
Birds of Prey (1999)
Jason Todd
Batman: The Cult (as Robin)
Batman: Death in the Family (as Robin)
Batman: Under The Red Hood
Red Hood: Lost Days
Cassandra Cain
Batgirl (2000)
Batman: No Man's Land
Jean-Paul Valley
Batman: Sword of Azrael
Batman: Knightfall
Stephanie Brown
Huntress/Spoiler: Blunt Trauma
Batgirl (2009)
Selina Kyle
Catwoman by Ed Brubaker
Helena Bertinelli
Batman/Huntress: Cry For Blood
Huntress: Year One
Birds of Prey: Manhunt
Damian Wayne
Batman & Robin (2009)
there are other very important pre-Flashpoint stories for all of these characters, but these are starting points more than anything. figure out what characters you're interested and go from there. understanding the universe at large helps, do not get me wrong. but at the end of the day, comics are a choose your own adventure of who you want to give a shit about. you're *never* going to read everything "important" and you're probably not going to understand everything. that's okay. don't treat it like a media you need to "complete" like a tv show or a movie, but more like an open world game where you decide what characters/teams/stories you like the most.
pre-Flashpoint covers a lot of ground. some stuff will be darker and grittier, some stuff will be more light-hearted. it will all be about what titles you pick up and what characters you decide you want to read about. you're obviously going to get a much more grounded storyline out of Green Arrow than you are say, a JLA comic. i prefer the more grounded, "street level" sorts of characters. (if you like gritty detective stories, i will be biased and highly recommend the Question (1987) just because. i love him okay.) but you might find you like sometimes more worldly and big scale. at the end of the day: don't force yourself to love a comic you're not enjoying, even if you like that character. you can put that shit down. sometimes, "important stories" are by shitty writers that you won't enjoy reading and you shouldn't make this hobby a chore. i don't care how "critically acclaimed" it is, you don't have to like it if it doesn't click for you. and on the flipside, a comic might be considered "bad" but you may enjoy it (a personal example: Robin III: Cry of the Huntress is considered a very weak comic. don't care. i love it anyway.) accept the cringe, have fun, and enjoy yourself at the end of the day. none of it will make sense anyway so just read what sounds cool to you.
this was all over the place and rambly, but i hope it helps at least a little! welcome to comics anon! if you or anyone else would like more character-specific recs, feel free to ask! if i don't know, i can at the very least hopefully point you in the right direction <3

What are your current opinions on the Rat Grinders post EP 17? I just think no matter what happens its very sad that they seemingly have no positive adult figures in their lives (seriously WHERE ARE THE PARENTS) and are being manipulated/groomed by people with authority/power over them? We need to cure them and give them SO MUCH therapy (and maybe bring Lucy back so Kipp can give her a smooch- WHO SAID THAT??)
oh 100% on the frostkettle train so so real. the thing about the rat grinders is that i have. a lot of opinions but they sit in like. two different camps.
so like, as plot elements they are so super interesting as not only foils for the bad kids but also as like you said they are these kids who are so jealous of the bad kids (at least in kipperlilly's case) but really they are just like these pawns in this greater game. it's super interesting to see what they bring out in the bad kids too as well as just being super interesting in the fact that the bad kids are considered so cool and liked but everyone has enemies or normal people at school who just. don't like them.
character wise I love them because I fucking love kind of shitty kids. it's why I work with middle schoolers. like I know everyone wants to save them kinda but I almost wish that they were just... regular shitty kids if that makes sense? like I understand them in plot terms being part of the Big Bad Scheme, but in my beloved fannon mind they are just kids who beef with the bad kids. like yes kipperlilly is being kinda manipulated by the adults in her life being told that they are the only way she can gain levels and lost her best friend being apart of her plot but before all that she was still a try hard with anger issues and a group of friends who loved to get under her skin.
tldr; the rat grinders are spinning around in my head and I love that they are both interesting plot elements as well as just ur average slightly shitty kids that have beef with a group that didn't even know who they were for two years.
#gahh thank you for the ask sorry I didn't answer it sooner#d20#fhjy#fantasy high#dimension 20#rat grinders#bird answers

Just letting you know that that madmanbear person miiiiight be a radfem since they tag most of their stuff as radical feminism. Might want to be careful about what things you read on there, be sure to always be critical and check your own sources and do your own research. This goes with everything you read on the internet obviously, but sometimes people find themselves agreeing with one or two more normal points, and then suddenly you're going down a pipeline. Just be careful and stay safe and come to your own conclusions about things with proper evidence <3 I mean this in the most good faith way btw and also am not trying to be condescending or anything, so sorry if it comes across that way. Just a genuine "please be careful!" Hope you have a lovely day <3
Ngl this made me realize I don't actually know what radical feminism is
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a7ea2301d63c050000a5c066e3dfb63a/3a41458009f3a22c-b3/s540x810/69d9eafbf099c844de846a92e7d9c75c898af244.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/42ad9c048ce3edc1c78b3a983c642468/3a41458009f3a22c-84/s540x810/dcebbf4e444b9e45e6d68b1b54da07feac6c0f30.jpg)
Like this all seems. Relatively based. I've got some issues bit overall yeah the patriarchy is old as balls and a lot of people forget that in feminist discussion but that obviously doesn't mean humans are inherently doomed to be patriarchal, especially seeing as one of our two closest living relatives are matriarchal n whatnot
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f87aa42a34a95c3abd511f29edbba744/3a41458009f3a22c-2f/s540x810/2691a1751439034108a7d15f97cf8d8185c7fa0c.jpg)
But then you scroll down a bit further and it's like. Oh oof! And you scroll down more and it's like.. a cartoon of a man falling down the stairs with the oof sound effect ...... they were onto something but then it got all fucky................. especially when you get to the pornography and views on transgender topics sections...... but also they keep disagreeing with each other? Like. The further the article goes on the less coherent of an ideology it seems. So I don't know how much someone being a radical feminist or not actually affects things, if they moreso agree with the earlier stuff and don't fall for gender/bioessentialism then it could be good someone's a radical feminist, but if there the laterish super trans exclusionary trans women are appropriating femaleness type that would obviously suck
also I think with that blog in particular he's just using it to reach more people, seeing as he also uses tags of words he's openly critical of. But also I want to know what you meant by radfem in this instance cuz I realized I don't actually know what it means when people say that,,,,,

I see your Jace loving cats and raise you Jace loving all weird, ugly and gross creatures and finding them unbelievable adorable.
In particular a mystery creature that looks like a mixture of a slug, Chinese crested dog and an open wound. Her name is Honeybun and she is Jaces precious little angel princess that he loves with all his heart.
What kind of species is she? Who knows for all anyone can tell she might as well be an eldritch horror rejected from her own realm for being too gross. Jace did find her in a shockingly empty level of a dungeon back in his adventuring days but he tries not to dwell on that fact too much.
Some of Honeybuns ‘quirks’ include:
.adversion to sunlight (Jace has a special desk draw he stuffs her into at work, he’s not leaving his baby all by herself at home)
.the ability to spit/vomit acid by accident and possibly on command
.looking at her for to long may cause different orifices to bleed (Jace is somehow immune to this, he claims it’s through the power of love, it’s more likely he’s just been exposed some much to her that he’s become immune/resistant)
.needing to be moisturised at least once a day otherwise she’ll shed her entire skin with said skin gaining some form of sentience unless it’s burned immediately.
Jace also calls honeybuns his familiar even though she offers no advantage to magic, or really anything.
Honestly it’s hard to decide if honeybuns even like’s Jace, is aware of anything or is in fact actively trying to kill.
Is her spitting up acid onto Jaces arm an upset stomach or purposely trying to hurt him? Her crawling over and onto the bed to watch him sleep could either be affectionate or her planning his death (how did she even manage that it taken her an hour to crawl/slide like 6 feet!) and when Jace swaddles her in his scarf like a baby does she calm down because she enjoys it or is more like how birds go limp and catatonic when they’re eyes are covered?
Jace mostly tries to keep honeybuns existence a secret since for reasons he can’t understand most people are scared/disgusted by his sweet little Angel.
So imagine Porters surprise one night when they’re staying late after work (either to work on the plan or just school stuff) and Jaces phone begins to beep an alarm before he opens a desk draw he normally keeps locked and pulls out honeybun. He begins softly cooing at her while rubbing coconut oil into its skin while the creature (porter assumes it’s a creature, it’s definitely breathing and seems to somewhat respond to Jaces touch) lays across his lap.
Porters pretty sure his nose has began to bleed when Jace seemingly having forgotten Porter was there until that moment looks up sheepishly and smiles before introducing him to honeybun, his familiar.
Also while Porter is utterly freaked out by honeybun and makes no effort to hide it (he woke up one night to find honeybuns sitting on his chest, just watching him. He immediately launched her across the room and ran outside shrieking so loudly next door called the cops. Jace was so upset for his poor baby he refused to put her down the entire night and even hand fed honeybun her favourite treat, raw chicken heart. He promises Porter that it just means honeybun likes him and that she watches him sleep all the time, Porter is not comforted by this info)
Zara has similar feelings as Porter towards honeybun, but for Jaces sake try’s to not let it show and be supportive e.g Zara trying to find something nice to say about honey bun “well at least she’s quiet and remains mostly still” honeybun as if on que begins to randomly shriek and throw her body and limbs around like she’s on fire.
Zara trying to comfort Jace who’s worried about honeybun as she somehow managed to eat 2 different scented candles, a wheel of extension cords and a bottle of ambrosia (yes even the glass bottle): we could always take her to the vet if your truly that concerned?
Jace: you know I can’t Zara, every time I do they just keep trying to put her down saying that’s it’s a crime against nature and humanity to let something like her continue living :(
Zara:…. Right how could I forget.
Xx
Anon i need you to know just how much I love Honeybuns. She's giving jackalope meets lovecraftian horror. I also love that Jace is never beating little weirdo freak allegations. Is Honeybuns an abomination? Yes but Jace loves her! Absolutely obsessed with her!!
Your mind is beautiful, anon! Thank you for sharing this with me~

"Leo-kun? I have...a weird question for you. You know the other inspector, Luna-chan, right?" This is beyond strange feeling to ask, but, "We're actually twins, but I wanted to ask....which of us would you say is the older twin? She keeps insisting it's her because she's more fun, but I'm better at office work and that's mature older sister stuff right? So it's me, right?"
@ayamekishiwagi
"Are you twins?" He looked at her dubiously. He knew there were two Romeos and two Alans, but they weren't twins. There was some sort of problem(? He couldn't find any record of something similar happening in the past) with the anomalous island and it was crossing over timespace and occasionally causing copies of people, or making them step into each others' worlds or times, usually temporarily. So far harmless, given Romeo hasn't destroyed anything by talking to himself. But that was his current guess. It was a broad spectrum guess but he'd only done so much investigating on it--mostly because it wasn't easy to look into, and also because it wasn't doing anything particularly exciting yet. "Whatever. Yeah, I know who you're talking about.
"If you're actually, legally, documented twins, someone could just check your koseki. Even if you were separated, I'm pretty sure you'd both be under the same parents. If not. . .being older doesn't make you more mature." Just look at Sho. He's way more mature than Hyde. "I met Luna first, so I'd say she's older!"

Got any Pieck and Annie friendship hcs?
Hi, Jesse!
I'm not really a person that has many hcs in general (a few trusty ones are more my style), but I actually do have one for Pieck and Annie!
Okay, for some reason Pieck doesn't strike me as someone who was effortlessly charming her whole life, I think this was a skill she developed as she grew older. I imagine the other kids in the Warrior's program used to shun her for being overenthusiastic and coming on too strong. All except for Annie, who didn't particularly care one way or the other.
But give Pieck an inch and she'll take a mile, during those years especially, so she latched onto Annie like a little duckling imprinting on its duck mama.
(Secretly, she was holding her breath until Annie discovered she was too much to handle and snubbed her like everyone else.)
Annie, of course, passively accepted it, because her father generally discouraged friendships, but there was nothing to be done if the other girl chose to follow her around.
(Secretly, she liked the company, but couldn’t shut up that insistent voice in the back of her head that kept telling her Pieck had a hidden agenda.)
(They’re both so used to the deceit, mistrust and alienation cultivated by Marley’s oppressive state, they can’t help but wait for the other shoe to drop.)
So one day, Annie and Pieck were huddling close in the bed in Marley's barracks and Pieck said : "We should totally braid each other's hair. That's what all the girls do!"
Annie only gave a shrug. "I don't know how to braid hair."
"Me neither!" said Pieck. "But how hard can it be?"
Needless to say, no one got their hair braid that night. They tried and tried until the early hours of the morning, but they just couldn't figure it out (they got halfway to a rope braid, but gave up because their fingers started to hurt).
Years later, after the Rumbling, at the makeshift camp in Fort Salta, they’re distributing rations together and notice two little girls braiding each other’s hair while waiting in line.
"I learnt how to do that. Braiding," says Annie.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, in the barracks in Paradise."
Pieck smiles ruefully. "I did too. Back in Marley. Another soldier showed me how. The trick is you need three strands. Silly of us, right?"
Annie laughs. "Yeah, pretty simple in retrospect."
And Pieck just looks at her friend, who, even after all those years, she still feels fond of, this familiar stranger who she had once grown to trust, this girl who unintentionally taught her of the deeper bond forged by going through hell together, and says: "Yes… Most things are."
#sorry for not answering sooner I loved the ask but didn't have the spoons#now that I'm at work however...#pieck finger#annie leonhart#asks

Half-Moon Cookie! Half-Moon Cookie! How did u get into such a high position abd watch everything from the distant in the archives? U also look really kool!!!
Aww, thank you for that!
I got into the position when I was still a young witch. I'm old, but I'm not as old as Crispia; a bit younger than it actually.
Something you might've heard from the Wizard's is that witches can be a bit messy... and they're right. We witches didn't have really anything to keep track of history here. We just did whatever.
It wasn't until the witches realized that knowledge was being forgotten that they needed someone to make archives and watch over what happens in the Cookie world. They built the archives, which works as a bridge to the Cookie World and to our world. I wasn't a full witch by then, and my ability to use magic was limited, but I already knew a lot of history and how magic worked, so I was able to help other witches create spells that would let them peer into the past, as well as helping create some cookies. I was also super eager to document history and other things in Crispia, which wasn't that common for the more experimental witches at the time (which isnt a bad thing! Cookies came about BECAUSE the witches were experimental). So, they decided I was the best fit for the archives.
I baked my cookie form a couple months after, I think. It took a lot of trial and error, though because again, I wasn't that good with magic at the time.
When you've been working in the archives as long as I have, it doesn't feel like a job, and more like a second home to you where you get to indulge in what you love. I truly do love my work, and I'm still so glad I have the opportunity to do what I do!

I love your illustrations! I don't speak English so I'm translating them. I'm sorry if my English is weird.
I was really moved when I saw your Power Loader illustration on pixiv, and I've seen all of your illustrations on pixiv. They're all so amazing that even now, three weeks later, I still look at them for a long time, entranced, sometimes enlarging them, and sometimes getting intoxicated by the overall atmosphere. Your illustrations are so passionate, full of love, delicate, and profound that I can't put into words, and I can almost feel the air flow and temperature. I'm so lucky to have come across such wonderful work! I want to enjoy and savor all of your illustrations and novels. I've found your pixiv, X, and Archive of our own accounts. Do you use any other SNS? I'd be very happy if you could answer. Thank you for reading this far. May your future be filled with wonderful happiness forever.

You would enter the hotel you would see what looked to be a small child with wings immediately hide behind the couch in the hotel
Well - that didn't look like anyone else here he recognized. And they look very young, as well....
Lucifer approaches, glancing behind the couch to find the young child, who seems pretty frightened.
"Hey..." He's gentle, not wanting to frighten them any further than they already are.
