straightman count your fucking days
ngl i understand why g*iman might want to say heaven/god isn't homophobic in the sense that like "oh people love the g*mens 'verse and want to imagine a world without homophobia"; however, i think it's safe to say that, definitely by now, heaven are also bad guys. perhaps god isn't homophobic and fans could maybe take comfort in that, but heaven can be without that reflecting on god and ruining that illusion.
that being said, defensively shutting down an interpretation (coming from the "interpret everything however you want" guy) that makes the story even more meaningful than it already is, especially when focussing on the show's version of the story, which has definitively moved into "love story" territory, is such loser behaviour. you're allowed to tell fans things they don't want to hear, and fans should be allowed to recognise themselves and the things they've been through without being called delusional or wrong or whatever for it.
covering your ass with the sandalphon comment is hilarious too, because yeah, everyone totally thinks about everything but homophobia when they think of sodom and gomorrah. be serious for me for just one second, please!
no one even called him homophobic for the scene's inclusion (because duh, what you write about doesn't 1:1 reflect your values), but tbh, with the way he reacted, well . . . it's not a very good look, i think. saying "hey, this scene reflected homophobia experienced by gay people [in this instance, specifically gay men]" isn't at all the same as saying "you endorse homophobia" — imagine how impossible it'd be to write a story without any ~problematic~ elements — and if you interpreted g*yziraphale's statement as accusatory, you need to take a step back and do some serious reassessment.
(and the tags about "it doesn't even have to be 'boyfriend'! it could've been 'lady friend' or 'bosom friend'"? what? first of all, if only it were that easy to avoid homophobia! sadly [sarcasm], gay people exist. secondly, WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST SAY ONE OF THOSE THINGS THEN? if angels don't have an understanding of gender or sexuality, why didn't they use one of the neutral terms you suggested? and again, if a and c being just friends was enough to spark heaven's anger and if heaven really has no concept of sexuality — let's remember, s1 had their relationship hella ambiguous still, so if some viewers of the show couldn't pick up on anything between the two, you think 'i don't get sex' heaven would? — they should've just said "friend"!)
i hate that i've written an essay because i hate that i'm putting so much time and (emotional) energy into this, but i'm just so sick of gay people being called delusional or "looking too deep" for pointing out where stories parallel their own. also, nice little "actually *you're* the homophobic one for even noticing it!!1!"[1] there. really deserving of a glaad award, sir. (or is that yet another statement i'm not allowed to interpret?)
1 look, i get he could be acting like he's just got the gender version of colour blindness, but he's a grown up. he should know damn well how that line comes across.

Johoo, saw your post and just had to follow you you seem awsome
Question: do you have any criticism to race to the edge, if so what? I find it very fascinating to see different people’s opinions on the series
heyyy thanks for the follow! i’m glad you like my acc!
before i say anything, PLEASE DON’T TAKE MY OPINIONS SERIOUSLY! i’m coming to y’all mostly in a joking tone like it’s all chill. i like the show and enjoy watching it but yeah without further ado!
rtte. when i was younger i had a love-hate relationship with it. there were many things i didn’t like but i kept watching cause we still had a long wait for thw and i NEEDED httyd content. of course there were things that i liked but yeah.
rewatching it now, i realized i might’ve been over exaggerating! to be fair, i’ve always been a dramatic person so there’s no surprise in that.
there are still things i’m iffy about.
- first off, hiccup and toothless’ relationship. to me, toothless seemed more like a pet than a best pal to hiccup. like toothless was usually in the background for the majority of his screen time. they did have their moments like in dire straits, enemy of my enemy (i think … but i can’t recall well), and triple cross, but that’s pretty much it.
- heather’s whole storyline. it was good in the beginning but wow they just really let go of her character. like she had SOOO much potential and she was well liked within the fandom. i would suggest watching this video on youtube:
Tumblr media
it pretty much wraps up all my thoughts on her.
- DAGUR! SHOULDVE! STAYED! DEAD!
and if they weren’t planning on killing him off THEY SHOULDNT HAVE MADE HIS “DEATH” SCENE SO TRAGICALLY BEAUTIFUL CAUSE NOW WHAT EVEN IS THE POINT
- hiccup was not supposed to see the ice spikes! again, 18 year old hiccup was NOT. SUPPOSED. TO SEE. THE ICE SPIKES! why? because 20 year old hiccup has NEVER SEEN THEM BEFORE!
- heathlegs. i’m sorry but i know a lesbian when i see one.
- this one i won’t get too worked up on cause i know the writers have said a few times hiccstrid was not going to be the main focus of the show (and tbh, as a hiccstrid shipper … thank god), but i wish their development from the friends to crush to lovers stage was more noticeable. to me it kinda just felt like BOOM! hiccstrid together!
at least the kisses were good. no no. the kisses were EXCELLENT! PURE CINEMA!
- listen i know they were in a time crunch when netflix just threw two more seasons at them, but johann? really?
- ASTRID NOT GETTING HICCUP A FAWKING MAP IN SANDBUSTED!
and that’s all i can think of for now, but all in all i love this show. i literally used to sit and wait for the seasons to come out at 3 AM MY TIME!! like this was my teenhood! i went to school sleep deprived for this shit so don’t you think for a second that i’m coming from a place of hate or ungratefulness.
i do have positive things about rtte but i’ll save that for a different post (also i plan to rewatch each episode one by one and make a tumblr post of my thoughts cause why not).
anyways thanks for asking this!

Hey there! I'm Ghostie-Ghoulie. I have had this app for years and always wanted to post, so here I am!
Currently, I'm obsessed with anything Until Dawn or Resident Evil related. I can't ever shut my mouth about them.
My content will either consist of possible art or my fanfiction about certain fandoms I enjoy.
This is an 18+ blog! So, if you are a minor, please, in the most polite way possible, leave my page.
These Fandoms that I am a part of happen to be:
Until Dawn
Resident Evil (a personal favorite)
Horror movies (Ghostface, Hellrasier, Chucky, IT, Etc)
The Wolf Among Us
Mortal Kombat
Cyberpunk
Arcane
Team Fortress 2
Star Wars
Star Wars: The Bad batch
Ghost (band)
Sallyface
Bendy And The Ink Machine
Spiderman (mostly the spiderverse movies)
Dark Deception
Devil May Cry
More fandoms can be added later!
I will write Smut, oneshots, small imagines, and multichapter stories. I'm a sucker for smut, so you're gonna get that out of me once I finally get the hang of it.
Important note: I only write XReaders for now. I know that might suck for a lot of people, but it is something I heavily enjoy. I know people don't like it (Y/n, I'm looking at you), but the stereotypical cringe XReader stories that drive me up a wall will not be here. I will try my hardest to make the apperence vague, but personality might be a challenge. Though, hey! Everyone needs their practice. I can't go writing an emotionless reader, eh?
The readers I write for will mostly, if not entirely, be gender neutral or feminine. I'm sorry if this is a major letdown, but I do not trust my abilities to delve into a male reader just yet. I most write for male characters in general, and as love interests, but I can write for women when it comes to romance. I am both for ladies and gents.
Another very important note: I have a major history regarding mental health. Stress comes to me easy, and with stress comes heavy burnout. My brain gets fried, and my creativity goes down 6 feet under. All I ask is that you be very patient with me until I recover. This might mean small breaks or long breaks. Requests may be hard to handle, but if I'm ready, I'll think about doing them. You are able to send in asks! I may not be able to do full requests, but maybe some thoughts for a writing I could possibly start off with.
I am very understanding when it comes to emotional and mental related things because I have experienced my fair share of dealing with it. These topics will show up sometimes in various writings. If these bother you, worry not! Warnings will be placed.
This is a page friendly one towards everyone. I do not stand for hate of any kind. Sure, we're through a damn screen, but I still won't tolerate it. So please, no hate or arguments. If opinions differ, it doesn't mean we need to clash.
Characters that I could possibly write for consist of:
Until Dawn
Chris Hartley
Mike Monroe
Josh Washington
Matt Taylor
Resident Evil
Leon Kennedy
Karl Heisenburg
Luis Sera
Jack Krauser
Albert Wesker
Devil May Cry
Johnny Cage
Vergil Sparda
Dante Sparda
Nero sparda
Mortal Kombat
Syzoth (Reptile)
Tomas (Smoke)
Bi-han (Sub-Zero)
Kuai liang (Scorpian)
Liu Kang
Cyberpunk
Johnny Silverhand
Viktor Vektor (he needs more love and attention. I love him sm)
Team Fortress 2
Spy
Sniper
Medic
(Possibly the rest)
Star Wars
Captain Rex
(Probably will write for a bunch of clones, tbh)
Hondo Ohnaka
Darth Maul
Darth Vader
Boba Fett
Din Djarin
Hunter
Crosshair
Tech
Wrecker
Echo
The Wolf Among Us
Bigby Wolf
I think that's all I've really got for now. More of course can be added later to masterlists. I'm just giving you good ideas on who I would love to write for.
(I will probably reform this because damn it looks jumbled, but hey, I'm inexperienced with actually posting on Tumblr.)

1, 7, 10 and 13 for atla? don't have to answer them all if you cba and i just always feel vindicated by your posts it's very nice
hii sorry this is late but thank uu i’m glad my posts resonate with someone
1) the character everyone gets wrong
iroh, definitely. i mean ofc the show itself helps on this by never holding him accountable for the whole being a war criminal and his attempt to colonize ba sing se. but it’s been years so it’s annoying he still gets the old man that’s just there to give good advice and funny jokes only treatment for majority of the audience.
also jet. it’s odd how ppl are so ready to jump anyone if you don’t like zuko immediately because he redeemed himself but jet it’s still viewed as a complete villain / lost cause.
and lastly azula. my baby i love her unfortunately shes stuck between people that think she’s the worst evil ever and ppl that don’t like she is ultimately written to be a villain. Yes, she’s a victim of her abusive father as much as zuko and unlike him she didn’t have any support from their uncle but still, i don’t think a redemption arc is what her character conclusion should be lol. i’m happy with her still ending as a villain, it’s tragic but also not unrealistic. i find it more entertaining too.
7) what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
sjjsjsj isn’t it kind of obvious? zuko. i just couldn’t stand the fans for so long. the way they put him in a pedestal. the ship wars. the comparsions to sasuke. IT WAS ALL SO UNBEARABLE.
but i have overcome it actually!!!! lol lately there’s been a pushback in atla fandom and now zuko is being constantly hated and dragged by others stans and while i still don’t care enough for him to be my fave, i felt the call to go against the waves because most of the arguments rn just sound ridiculous like damn. you would think he’s ozai or smth the way ppl talk about him
10) worst part of fanon
huhh i don’t really read atla fics and aus to know mich about atla fanon tbh. maybe how people talk about kyoshi 😭 i swear ppl make her smth she’s not
13) worst blorboficiation
for the same reasons i mentioned before this always goes to iroh!!

20 Q's for 20 Authors
i wasn't actually tagged by anyone, but i saw it floating around and i was bored
1. How many works do you have?
on ao3 it's 95, but there are a few more on tumblr that i never posted anywhere else
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
360706
3. What fandoms do you write for?
whew, a ton.
4. What are your top 5 fics by notes?
on tumblr:
tomato faced
teamwork
a little fashion show
just for tonight
the palace guards
on ao3:
sunflower
plum
perfect little toy
teamwork
various spencer reid blurbs
5. Do you respond to comments?
i mostly just respond to the comments made in reblogs (mainly because that is the best way to support a writer here on tumblr)
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
maybe the murder at evergreen university? that might be as sad of an ending as i've ever gone.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
hmm... i mean, most of them tbh. i'm a fan of wrapping things up in a nice hug, especially if I've brought the drama.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
luckily, not really, it's extremely rare and the few times it has happened i don't recall it really having anything to do with the story itself. just someone having a tough time took it as an excuse to get it out on someone and something not relevant to what they're going through.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes, i very much do. many many kinds, i think it might be easier to make a list of the few genres of it i don't roll around in then the many i do.
10. Do you write crossovers?
yes. not often, but i have. the murder at evergreen university and its prequel sour summer for one was a major one that took me a long time to write. if i've written others then i don't remember, but i'd love to do more.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge and it is legit one of my worst nightmares.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
never really been a big shipper, so i don't have a go to answer for this, sorry
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oh boy, there are multiple....
there is this one i've had going for ages, but i've never found the right fictional hottie to center it around. it's a historical one where it's basically farmer's daughter x farmhand
i also have a firefighter!bucky x paramedic!reader series that is essentially all fleshed out, but i've never gotten to
some smutty one shots and blurbs for each of the dudes in the murder at evergreen university. i even reference them in the story, but i never got to finishing them...
and even more, i mean, the list just goes on, but those were just the tops off my head.
16. What are your writing strengths?
dialogue and knowing when to shut up
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
i'm dyslexic lol, that brings enough relevant "weaknesses"
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i like it if it makes sense for the story and if the foreign language is grammatically correct and stuff and not just whatever google translate has spat out.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
criminal minds
20. Favorite fics you’ve written?
the eflorr trilogy
lilac
the murder at evergreen university
buttercup
no pressure tags: @chvoswxtch @inklore @fettuccin-e @ghostlyfleur @oncasette @mypoisonedvine @appocalipse @vhagarlovebot @slvttyfied @venuslore @fushic0re

thanks for that delicious read tamalee! You ate with that!🤭
No disrespect to that anon, but their entire vibe gives off a Sakura fan in disguise. Cause ain’t no way they truly believe 90% of the fandom dislike her simply because she “rejected” Naruto for sasuke lmaoo. Canonically it was Naruto who rejected her ass ( even if she was fake confessing) like the king he is. Ignoring how shitty she was for that, let’s talk about how her character was written to be unlikeable. How are they shocked that the readers reacted how the author expected/wanted them to react to her? Also, why do people get so obsessively defensive over her? She never had anything good going on for her. One of the first introductions to her character was her hating on a kid for being an orphan to another orphan. And she never truly changed. Ask yourselves if how she reacts and treats Naruto and Sasuke is okay/acceptable why don’t Naruto and sasuke treat each other the same? Why do they literally do opposite of what she does every time? and in the end she gets away with it all without improving and becoming a better character and yet y’all still think she’s a victim. Be so for real!
sorry for the long post. I hate Sakura apologists who love to act like everything we know of her character is just collective delusions, but all their lies and fantasies about her character is who she truly is. Honestly quite impressive how even after almost a decade they’re still fighting tooth and nail for a character whose own creator dislikes. And he is so loud about it too💀
<this?> aaah~ glad you think so Nonee, I have so many posts in my drafts, but I've been typing way too much getting off topic for majority of them because I feel like rambling, but I don't want to spam posts all day.
idk if it was 'fan-in-disguise' tbh, I thought I was good at recognizing them, but maybe not xD I think Sakura has some really great moments. I think in general things would go differently in the fandom if her fans focused on highlighting these few selfless moments. For example, when she showed a genuine interest in Sai's drawings, or when she tried to help him understand the complex relationship with his brother. Or her act of sacrifice for Chiyo a woman she just met. Which raises the question: how do her physical feats, like punching, or arguing whether she's pretty or not even compare to that?
These good moments have little to do with her 'badass strength' or her idealistic 'love' for Sasuke, which are often used as points of argument. The fans you talk about seem preoccupied with defending her character against the widely acknowledged criticisms shaping Sakura into a character she isn't, all the while overlooking her flaws or attributing them solely to the writing. Selective reading we call that and it doesn't help the intention to make her look better one bit.

Man, every time I see that there's some latest wrinkle in the story on the " Izzy fans get the most hate ever" discourse and I check it out, the answer is always just... the same basic shit that fans of characters of color and fans of female character s have been dealing with forever and half the time its the most basic shit.
Obviously no one should be getting anon hate, but no one WOULD receive anon hate if anon was turned off. Personally, turning off anon stopped the vast majority of the vitriol I received and all of the "death threats" (I don't take anonymous death threats all that serious tbh, whatever rocks your boat anon loser). There were a couple of accounts created specifically to get around my anon being turned off or to bother me without having skin in the game, but that seems rare and unlikely to be a repetitive problem. Turning off anon is the single most effective way of reclaiming your fandom experience.
The "don't tag hate" position has existed for as long as there have been tags on Tumblr. It's a position that I frankly think is not worth maintaining, considering that the tags are both a way to share with the wider community as well as a way to organize your own blog, and there's no way to forcibly distinguish between the two unless you're going to make custom tags for everything, which is not worth the energy for most people.
Especially when people can't even agree about what hate even is. Is hate talking about how you wish said character would die in the next season? Is hate analyzing the impact of a characters' actions? Is hate tagging the character for appearing in your art work but the art work isn't them sympathetic or happy?
The only thing people can do to have the tag experience THEYY want to see is block people whose posts they hate seeing. That's it. Attempting to control how other people use the tags is an exercise in futility.
It genuinely has me shaking my head that so many people are often talking about the horrendous abuses they experience as fans of Izzy and it's 1) the same type of anons that fans of Ed and Stede are receiving, 2) the same vaguely threatening statements from individual fans that fans of every other character sometimes receive, 3) grounded criticism of the character that the fans don't want to see.
Like... Sorry if this is your first time encountering toxic fandom but this is what every fandom is like, especially if you're a person of color or a fan of characters of color or a fan of female characters. You just need to turn off anon and block people. That's it. That's all you can do. People aren't enabling your mistreatment by continuing on with their regular blogging after advising you to turn off anon and block.

Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
Least shippable character?
Unpopular character you love?
Have you received anon hate? What about?*
(I know you have weird anons i just want to know the funniest)
sorry this took so long I was busy w IRL stuff asfdgbg
Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
Hahahahaha-- Basically all the major fanon-default ships aren't things I'm interested in tbh. There's a particular Pru ship I am thinking of but I don't want to be mean publicly, so you'll have to do the math yourself.
Least shippable character?
I don't care for R*mano (trying not to let this appear in his character tag), sorry. Can't do it.
Unpopular character you love?
N Italy-as-Venice if that counts. Let him be a danger twink!!!!
Have you received anon hate? What about?
I'm lucky enough to have not received much, pretty much only what I've posted but I think the anon hate calling my content mid is still the funniest fucking thing. Going to print that out and hang it on the wall tbh

FUCK IT, NEW PINNED POST THIS TIME!!:
Okay, once again, from the top- top of the mornin' to ya! My humblest and sincerest greetings to all mortals, dragons, demons, spirits, celestial beings and all in between and many more!
I’m your local multifandom enthusiast, I go by Starr!
I’m aroace and intersex, and I am genderfluid/nonbinary! Presentation changes from time to time but I really want an undercut tbh. I'm still kinda sad that sex-ed in schools isn't LGBTQIA+ friendly yet.
I also have very few but very loving and wonderful IRL friends! Usual pronouns change between she/her, they/them/ he/him and it/its; I am a neopronouns user too!
Also please use tone-tags around me, this user's can't tell a joke from a serious statement a lot of times-
Personality: Hopeless idealist, wants deep companionship, feels lonely and ignored from time to time but that’s aight, life do be like that sometimes though. Sappy poet and writer lol-
I do program and write and draw, but half the time whenever I program I just wrestle with the computer lmfao (ESPECIALLY the standard library like tf)-
DNI: Transphobes, Truscum, Transmeds, TERFS, ableists, anti-cluster B/believe in n@rc abuse, racist, aphobes, homophobes, queerphobes, xenophobic, gender-critical, bigots, LGBTQIA+ exclusionists, thinspo/pro ED, bullies, NSFW/K!nk, anti-agere/agedre, Pro-DDLG and all its variants, P3d0ph!l3s, N@z!s, really anything that makes me feel uncomfortable- just come on here and you're welcome as long as you're not being an ass. (and don't make fun of me for having a DNI, it really isn't that hard to spare me the trouble of blocking you and just... not interact).
Actually REALLY high empathy by modern standards, just figured out I have to turn the tap off a lot because the suffering of other people affects me deeply!
I stim alot irl (playing with hair, foot/leg spazzing out restlessly, vocal echolalia/mimicking choirs, rocking back and forth but never adjusting position, chewing gum a tad too aggressively if I have any- if not then grinding teeth way too much, etc.)
I'm diagnosed with depression, PCOS and ADHD, and have a lot of symptoms of autism and dyscalculia (because of how genuinely chaotic and dysfunctional I can be at times tbh). I also do descend into major depressive episodes from time to time, though I don't know how to recognize if they're just sensory overloads, meltdowns, brain fog episodes or just bad brain days/symptom days in general.
My mental and physical health is getting better, but I still hate being called a cis woman or being referred to as strictly feminine.
Multiple fandoms and hyperfixations, including but not limited to:
ROTTMNT, FNAF, Poppy Playtime, Fire Emblem, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Demon Slayer/KNY, TMNT, Stranger Things, Star Wars, OMORI, Transformers, Pacific Rim, The Owl House, Zelda, Zenless Zone Zero and much more!! Sorry if you're here for any one of these specific fandoms, I tend to aggressively post about my current hyperfixation depending on it lmao-
Additional facts: Kind of a glutton when it comes to food, introvert asf on top of being autistic (doesn’t know how to do human social things), has way too many hobbies/things I find interesting to count! Absolutely fuckin HATES dresses and the unnecessary, excessive femininity of periods (especially when they worsen my gastric issues and give me stool problems)! I DO also age-regress and age-dream from time to time!
I like sweets, rice, food in general, dogs (have one, he's named Bruno and he’s a little baby I love him sm), butterflies, sleeping, plushies, space, dragons, fantasy, sci-fi, writing and reading fanfic, drawing/painting, numbers, napping in the sun/underneath the stars, stargazing, etc.
I strongly dislike spiders, too-spicy food, tofu when it’s cooked wrong, cooking (because I’m a disaster at it), bigoted people, strong smells and bright lights, difficult people, being bored- y’know, the works.
Aesthetics change from time to time but I love wierdcore, dreamcore, 80’s core, nostalgiacore, fantasycore, faecore, dragoncore, cybercore, kidcore, spacecore, liminalcore, etc.
Will update this Pinned Post from time to time as time goes on and my fluid identity changes, but for now, I’ll keep being me and I hope to get along well with everyone here!

Why do jc antis hate him for all the things he never did and hate his fans so much , they have blogs dedicated towards hating on his fans and questioning their reading comprehension , as if they are the only right ones and everyone else is wrong saying that they read the story from mxtx's intended lenses and jc stans are a red flag , how can someone hate a fictional character so much , and for everything that they say about jc fans lacking reading comprehension skills , for all we know everyone except mxtx is misinterpreting the story , everyone has their own opinions and own reading interpretations , why do you want to spread so much hatred ?
One of mdzs's strengths as a piece of literature is how much diversive opinions and interpretations can be made about it depending on person to person and culture to culture , isn't a fandom a safe place for bringing forth all diversive discussions and discourses , these diversive opinions is what makes a fandom interesting ! Of course fanon is gonna remain fanon and canon is gonna remain gonna canon , but why so much hatred ?
One of the anti jc blogs was even insulting a Chinese Diaspora person saying that they don't know about their own culture engaging in racism .
Sorry it got a bit long .
Hi there, anon. I... wish I had an answer tbh ^^;
I'm not a hater and as a rule of thumb I try to stay away from them as much as possible. In fact, most of the blogs I have blocked are the ones dedicated to trash JC (bc those really are a lot and goddamn Intense).
Bc you are right, it really is concerning just how much hatred and resentment there is for one fictional guy, and haters would jump on to any opportunity to blame him for pretty much every misfortune that happens in the story. I once saw a twitter post calling him out bc he did nothing about XY.
It's a witch hunt taken to the extreme, they'll use that purple dude for everything they have a problem with in the story, and act like literally no one else was right there doing shitty stuff too. Somehow, everything is his responsibility, he should have been there to fix every single problem he encountered, and not doing so bc of greater and more important reasons is a moral failing on his part and he deserves no forgiveness.
Like, I'm glad to see they hold him in such high regard that they really and wholeheartedly believe that he alone participated on the siege and had so much power that he could orchestrate everything better than NHS XD.
But no really, as I mentioned in a previous reply, the most aggravating part is that they think themselves superior or Keepers of the True Gospel of MDZS, when it's very obvious they are the first ones deluding themselves if they failed to see the glaring commentary on a broken society and all the others involved in the shittiness.
If you are gonna make a call out post for his participation in the siege, you also better make one for NMJ, LXC, LQR, JGS and literally every other major sect member and minor sect.
If you are gonna denounce him for hunting down demonic cultivators, you better listen first to those of Chinese heritage and origin to explain to you the cultural principles in which cultivation is based and why demonic cultivation is a Bad Thing Actually (also better point out too that the Nie sect uses something very similar —if with a key difference).
If you are gonna lapidate his character for asking WWX to leave the Wens and come back with him to a place where he can actually protect him... hate to break it to you, but JC isn't the only one asking that, he was just an asshole about it. In fact, he at least exposed his case clearly enough for WWX to understand what he was asking of him. But JC's duties to his sect came first and -brace for it- Even WWX Himself Understood That And Helped Staged A Fight so he wouldn't compromise the Jiang sect any more.
EVEN WWX UNDERSTOOD JC'S REASONS.
And as shown in the ‘taking JYL to show her dress to WWX’, they were still in good terms afterwards!
I really don't know what to tell you, anon. It's all clearly written in the novel itself and (methinks) portrayed well enough in all adaptations. I can only guess that haters want someone's head for all the pain WWX went through and that ultimately no one paid for. Someone who isn't already dead and that doesn't have the best relationship with WWX in canon. They pretty much just want a scapegoat for their quite frankly ridiculous accountability crusade for a fictional character, and will use whatever mental gymnastics they can pull off to add to the dogpile, even if that means ignoring clearly stated facts and even the protagonist's own stance.
It's a blind, raging mob against a target that suits them.
And isn't that just ironic.

I'm not very passionate about "The Witcher" Netflix series. I like it, but not obsessed with it. I'm indifferent to the main couple, but I like the lore and the majority of the other characters and I'm curious to see where it's heading.
I say this because around two months ago, I made a post where I said I wasn't a fan of Yennefer or her relationship with Geralt, but also stated I didn't hate her and was hoping the coming season would make me like her (at least a little bit). After having watched the newest season, I'm sad to say that it hasn't, but I still don't wish any tragedy to come to her. I want to see where her story goes.
Since I've made that post, I've had two anonymous asks that have really baffled me.
The first ask simply said "just say you hate women of color and call it a day, tbh".
This confused the hell out of me because I had no idea it was even about the post I made about Yennefer because there was no context and no further elaboration, and the fact that I've received the ask several weeks afterwards. Nothing I've stated in the post had anything to do with the race of the actress playing her (I even said she played Yennefer well, despite how I feel about the character) and everything to do with how she was written (I basically said "this action didn't make sense to me" and that was it).
All it takes is saying "I don't like this fictional character" and people jump to the worst possible conclusions without even knowing anything else about you as a person. Just so we're all on the same page, if Yennefer was played by a white actress, my feelings about her would be exactly the same. In fact, in "The Witcher 3", Yennefer is a white woman and...I liked her waaaay less than I did in show's version (she's just... really not a nice person in the game to people who aren't Geralt or Ciri, just not my cup of tea).
The other anonymous message made me laugh. There was no punctuation, but they basically called me "a dumb bitch" and how wrong I was about Yennefer and Geralt's relationship and I should just shut up (PFFT! As if I would ever do that after SUCH a polite message 💕). I told them in a long message that chemistry is subjective and people can have different opinions without being nasty about it. Who would've thought, right?
I really don't care about ships in the show that much because I'm not that invested. I'm not going to go out of my way to attack people who disagree with me about something as silly as a TV show. Some people have their ships and I see why people root for them, but the main couple doesn't do anything for me. And that's fine. It doesn't have to. Their relationship isn't the reason I'm watching it.
I wanted to get this out of the way because I've never received such... passionate (if that's the right word) asks from people in other fandoms, not even from the OUAT fandom and that fandom was very unpleasant for a lot of people. I certainly hope my future with the fandom will be far more pleasant, despite my unpopular opinions. The last thing I want to do is offend anyone and I'm completely on board with anyone who wants to have civil discussions about the show (and maybe games or books I've yet to get into).
Sorry this got long and rambly. I wasn't sure what to tag this under, but maybe with the "safe" tags like 'yennefer critical' and 'anti yennefer', despite not actually hating Yennefer, just because I don't want people who have the tags filtered to see it on accident when they're looking for positive content.
I hope you all have a lovely night and a happy New Year. ❤️

Hey. It's been a long time since I had a question. Maybe the 100's demise was the reason.
Now coming to my actual query. This past year I have binged numerous shows ranging from American to korean dramas or Turkish dizis. There is certain thing that I have felt and noticed throughout i.e., the woman characters aren't given even a slight leeway by the audience. If the even make a slight mistake, the audience remembers it always to stand against that character. Whereas if there is a male villain, people gets cheerful seeing even a slight bit of humanity in him. They even wait for its redemption.
Let me take an example of a Turkish show "kara sevda(black love)". A one line synopsis can be put like- two leads who love each other endlessly but can never be together. So, the villain in that show is beyond redemption. That character has fallen so far off that there is no coming back. But still when he is playing with a baby, people's comments are like 'best moment of the show.' 'see he is such a good person'. 'the female lead should accept his love'. Am like what?
And if I tell you about the female lead. She is a good person at heart who is sacrificing love for family. And she is labelled "selfish" by audience. 'She doesn't deserve the male lead' etc. And you know I too felt like that for the majority of the show until I reached the point of self reflect.
Even Clarke from the 100 faced so much hate that there wasn't any visible backlash when in the end the makers made her a villain. The backlash was for Bellamy death and stupid end instead.
Looking through tv series, it's so easy to see why tv or films doesn't have female anti heroes. Male anti heroes are so easy to find and also widely successful like Damon from tvd or Klaus.
What is your take?
Yup!
Yes.
Definitely.
You are absolutely correct. The leeway for female characters to show human imperfection is very, very thin. Meanwhile, a guy can literally blow up a planet, kill his beloved father, have temper tantrums with kicking and screaming and torture the female main characters and fandom-- and the creators-- think that makes him a hero. And the requirements for his redemption, if there are any at all amounts to:
WOOPSIE! I'M SOWWY.
I simply do NOT understand that phenomenon.
I mean, I get the need to relate to darker characters, morally gray characters, to explore our own negative impulses...but the whole tendency is, for me anyway, given a more sinister light when you compare how the audience tends to treat these outright villainous male characters compared to even SLIGHTLY morally gray female characters. Maybe just flawed.
It also interferes with satisfying redemption arcs. Because YES watching someone face their dark past and attempt to become better and be redeemed is a great story... but if male characters only have to wear a cape and be hot to be redeemed.... then that's not a satisfying redemption arc. And if women can't do ANYTHING to be redeemed because they are considered irredeemably selfish or whatever for the same flaws someone's Hot Dark Badboy smirks about and isn't even sorry for? Then we barely even get redemption stories for women.
And that's part of the problem, isn't it? Women aren't allowed the same representation as men... even as flawed characters.
The point of good representation is not to represent only the best, most perfect, most desirable, most successful type of people. The point is to allow everyone of any sex, race, gender, sexuality, religion, class, ability, etc to take part in the full spectrum of humanity in our stories, good and bad and mediocre. A female Mary Sue is just the female version your general male hero. One is considered bad storytelling the other is taken as The Way It Should Be.
Women are not allowed to have flaws in most of our pop culture, or women are ghettoized into only women's fic or romance or YA, or women take backseat to male villains, or whatever.
I'm writing a book where the woman abandoned her child, and she sleeps around and cons people and avoids commitment. I purposely wrote her to be unlikable.... or rather, she's not unlikable, she's clever and funny and weird, but she has characteristics that women aren't supposed to have. She essentially acts like a male anti-hero, until her call to action and she is forced to face her past mistakes. But I know that these are things that audiences say are irredeemable for women. Abandon her own child?? No. Not allowed. Even though plenty of male characters go off on adventures leaving wife and child behind and it isn't even considered a character flaw, just... a male adventurer. Or honestly, just a guy. Sure one who's imperfect, but that old ball and chain was probably the worst, right? He had to move on and now he has a tragic backstory and complexity and oh the audience will probably either want to be him or want to be with him, because, that's how these things work.
Not saying that characters shouldn't be dark, do bad things, have flaws, be anti-heroes, have redemption arcs, or have a deep, multilayered villainy.
But I am saying we might want to be a little more critical about what we consider irredeemable for certain people and what war crimes and abuse we let some characters get away with in the name of bold (white) masculinity.
IS the nature of being a (white) man we look up to someone who destroys other people?
I think that toxic masculinity IS seen as sexy. Unfortunately, that's one of the reasons it's seeped into our culture. Manly (white) men who abandon kids and kill without remorse, but with muscles. Manly (white) men who murder whole regions because bad things happened to them, and smolder while doing it. Manly (white) men who commit genocide regularly, but fall for the heroine and save her once. Manly (white) men who are serial killers but with an intriguing depth.
tbh there's lots more to say on the topic, some of it very controversial. These are the stories we like to hear and the characters we love. And it might be rooted in the toxic masculinity that our society has been selling to us as propaganda for decades, if not centuries-- but we don't like to be told to examine our biases, our tastes, our preferences, or our beliefs. It's threatening to our sense of self.
However, that is how you unravel all sorts of toxic belief systems, from misogyny to racism to homophobia to bigotry of all kinds. I added the (white) to this post after I read through it, because I realized non white male characters are not allowed this leeway, either. So this phenomenon is generally (not always) limited to white men. Why?????
my theory? we're still making the colonialists the heroes of the story, friends.

19, 22 and 23? :^)
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
Tbh there are a lot of things I hate, although by this point it's only very certain parts of the fandom that have these problems, since most of the shitty people have lost interest by this point. If I had to choose just one thing though, it'd be the overwhelming focus on white, male characters over female and/or characters of color. And there are a lot of areas where this shows up. One major example is that a lot of people like the idea of Connor, Hank, Gavin, and Nines (all white, male characters, mind you) staying at the DPD even after:
The DPD was the one (along with Cyberlife) responsible for the deaths, arrests, and brutal treatment of androids, the main oppressed group in the game's world
Connor and Nines are a part of that oppressed group, and at least Hank is shown in game to support them
Connor has already worked at the DPD and was routinely called an "it" (which as someone who is nonbinary and has been called "it" knows how insulting that can be and understands the need to get away from situations where that happens), was allowed to be sent to his death by, and was routinely harassed and nearly murdered, or in some playthroughs actually murdered, by workers at the DPD (*ahem Gavin ahem*)
Hank (if he is your friend) risked his career just to cause a distraction for Connor to keep him alive
Just because the android revolution was successful doesn't mean the DPD was going to follow that. I mean, the androids were heavily compared to African Americans in this game, and we all know how the current police system treats them (and if you don't, pay attention to the news, like, ever. Also read Jim Crow as that book is very informative on the oppression of blacks in the entire incarceration system as well as before and after that)
So I hope it would be pretty obvious to any sane person that suggesting these characters would join/remain in the DPD after everything is offensive on all sorts of levels.
In addition to that, you also have some people saying that they only cared about Connor's story, or that his was the only good one. The female protagonist that risks her own life several times to save that of a child (no matter if she is human or android)? Not important. The (half) black protagonist who is shot by police, has to rebuild himself, and leads his own people to freedom? Who cares? The only important story to these people is the white, male, cop android who spends most of his time hunting down the good guys. And if some people honestly prefer Connor's story because of their own reasons, that's fine. And yes, Kara and Markus's stories have lots of problems. But Connor's does too, and none of this gives people an excuse to ignore the other characters, especially since they are the minority characters. Then, there are also the people who say Connor's machine path was better than his deviant path, or that him being replaced by Nines in the end was unfair. And... what the fuck??? I mean, I get it, it's fun to play through different options, and Connor is hella badass in the machine path. But he is also hella badass in the deviant path (killing the guards in the elevator, possibly the team at the bottom if he doesn't catch the security camera, fighting Sixty, walking in front of all the androids he freed, like, come on), and he also, like, has morals and isn't oppressive??? In the machine route, he kills his own people, including those who just want to be free and might have been completely pacifist the entire way through. So I'm sorry, anyone who thinks his machine path is better is just looking for an excuse to be oppressive without openly admitting it.
Then there's the Gavin apologizers. While fanon Gavin is awesome, some people have way overstepped the line of redemption and allowing oppression. I've seen posts defending Gavin's in-game behavior, just because he refers to androids as "he" on occasion. This is despite:
Suggesting "roughing up," or being violent to Shaolin (the HK400 in "The Interrogation")
Insulting his partner, Chris, when he doesn't forcibly move Shaolin against Shaolin's will
Pointing a gun at Connor after Connor rightfully says to stop touching Shaolin for both succeeding the mission and for Shaolin's sake, and only stepping down after Hank points a gun at him and even after insults Connor
Punching Connor right in the thirium pump regulator and then pushing his head right where his LED is in the break room if Connor refuses to get him a coffee
Insulting and threatening Connor in the same scene even if Connor follows all of his demands
Insulting Hank's alcoholism in the Eden Club "it's starting to stink of booze in here"
Purposely pushing Connor to the side in the same scene
Trying to literally murder Connor and admitting he'd wanted to kill him ever since he first saw Connor, sometimes successfully
Both physically and verbally assaulting Connor
I forgive very easily and strongly believe in redemption, don't get me wrong. But trying to excuse Gavin's behaviors is so inexcusable, especially when most of his aggressions are towards androids, the oppressed minority.
Now, let's look at Ao3, shall we? Let's see how many fics posted there are with each of the "main" (including Gavin and Nines since even though they are not main characters in canon they are in fanon) characters... (also, keep in mind, I gathered this data about a month ago so it might not be completely up to date):
Connor: 16,150
Markus: 5,395
Kara: 1,504
Hank: 13,135
Nines: 9,807
Gavin: 9,939
Amanda: 1,177
Chloe: 1,521
North: 3,056
Simon: 3,192
Josh: 1,965
Alice: 1,098
Luther: 848
Rose: 193
This means that certain characters get unequal amounts of attention:
White: 59,042
Black: 9,578
Male: 60,431
Female: 8,549
White, Male: 52,223
White, Female: 7,179
Black, Male: 8,208
Black, Female: 1,370
Well, this says a lot. Now, some people reading this might realize that there are more white and male characters to begin with, so it could be fair even with their numbers being higher. So, okay, let's see the average amount of works a single character in each of the above categories would have (so divide each of the values by the number of characters in that category) (also I rounded to the tenth place aka first decimal point):
White: 6,560.2
Black: 1,915.6
Male: 7,553.9
Female: 1,424.8
White, Male: 10,444.6
White, Female: 1,794.8
Black, Male: 2,736
Black, Female: 685
If anything, these are even more telling. And if you don't believe me, look on Ao3 and calculate these yourself, because you'll get the same thing.
To be clear, I don't have anything against Connor, Hank, or any of the white and/or male characters. I even like the way that the fandom has redeemed Gavin. But the fandom has not done the same job of redeeming other characters, especially the minority ones, and pays way less attention to them, and that needs to be called out with evidence by someone.
Anyway, I spent a LONG time on that first question, so I'll try to make the next answers shorter!
22. Popular character you hate?
There aren't any popular characters that I thoroughly hate. The only characters I hate are ones that are already highly unpopular (Todd, Zlatko, Perkins). If we're talking canon characters, I do hate Gavin with a flaming passion. I mean, he is meant to represent police brutality. But fanon Gavin is cool with me, so I'm not sure exactly how much this counts.
There is one semi-popular character that I dislike though, and that is Kamski. I'm half-counting him again because within the fandom there are very mixed opinions. I personally dislike him mainly because of his treatment of one of his Chloe's: he is willing to let her get shot in the head and killed just to find a dumb answer to his Kamski test just because he feels like it. If Connor doesn't shoot Chloe, he tells Connor he's deviant, knowing full well that Amanda and Cyberlife are watching being the one to design the program, endangering Connor. While he arguably is responsible for deviancy and wants androids to succeed, that doesn't make up for those facts.
Another character that half-counts is Daniel. There are mixed opinions within the fandom on him as well, with some arguing that he is only wanting to not get replaced and protect himself. However, since his first response was to kill the dad, and then he proceeded to shoot at least 3 more cops, killing 2, and hold Emma, the young girl he had been friends with for years hostage, even though she had nothing to do with his replacement. You can't argue that he didn't want to kill Emma and only used her as protection for himself, either, as there are multiple endings where he tries and sometimes succeeds in killing Emma, even when he is also killing himself. I'm not closed to a redemption arc for him, but his in-game actions are inexcusable. He's the one deviant who truly has no valid defense for his actions.
23. Unpopular character you love?
There are a few. I absolutely adore North, Josh, Adam, and Alice, even though the fandom has conflicted opinions on them. Then again, none of these characters are really considered unpopular, just not as popular as others with a select few that don't like them. With North, I've been in this fandom since a few months after its release, when there was a lot of North hatred, and was actually in a group called the North Protection Squad lol. However, now most people like her, and she's really grown in popularity. With Josh, it's less that he's hated, and more that he's ignored. People say that Simon was the peaceful option when he was really the neutral, and recently I've seen more people against Josh's opinions on the revolution. While I don't always agree with Josh being so passive and undemanding (neither do I agree with North's violence), he's still an awesome character with some very valid points. Then, I do understand why some people dislike Adam, as at first he's against androids and almost reveals Kara and the others. However, if you meet him at the border crossing, he apologizes to Kara and changes his mind, promising to help androids. While he may start out scared and not on the right side, he does have a good heart and ends up making the right decisions in the end. With Alice, I haven't seen many people hate her, either, although I have seen some saying she's annoying and lacks a personality. I agree that she lacks a personality, although I argue that's the writers' faults rather than her character's (as are problems with other characters, I mean David Cage wrote this so what were we expecting). I also don't think she's annoying, as after all she is only 9 (in human terms), doesn't admit she's an android because she's scared Kara will reject her (and Kara actually can reject her for being an android, leaving her completely on her own in a world that wants her dead. Also, living her whole life with Todd can absolutely not help her feel more secure with who she is or make her trust Kara to still love her for it), and she is only cold and feels sick because her model of android is literally designed to replicate human sickness and discomfort (and it's clear she doesn't know how to turn them off, because even after Kara knows she's an android Kara still has to help Alice not feel cold anymore. Also, this is November in Detroit, in which the average temperature is 42°F (5.6°C). There are also scenes where it is snowing, meaning the temperature is below freezing. Still, despite the temperatures, in some scenes not having a coat, and feeling sick, she says Kara and Luther can't stop because of her, risks her life to save Kara's if you fail QTEs, and says she's "fine" even when she's cold to comfort Kara. So if you think she can be annoying, yeah, all 9-year-olds can be. But if you think she's annoying enough to actually hate her, idek what to say).
In terms of characters that are really unpopular, I actually like Leo. His actions at first are inexcusable. I mean, accusing Carl of loving an android more than hin, insulting Markus and treating him as less than human, threatening him, breaking into Carl's house and attempting to steal his paintings for drug money, and framing Markus for Carl's death leading to him getting shot and nearly killed are obviously not okay things to do. However, he is clearly on drugs, specifically red ice, the most dangerous drug in the world. Also, if you decide to push Markus leading Carl to still be alive, when you return to Carl's house, you can find a message Leo sent to Carl in which he apologizes for everything and promises it won't happen again. In the extras section, you also find out Carl missed out on Leo's whole childhood, only first meeting him once he was much older. Given that Carl spends all of his days pleasantly conversing with Markus while ignoring Leo, not calling him, only talking to Leo once he comes around himself, and doesn't even argue when Leo says Carl doesn't love him, it's almost fair that Leo thinks the way he does. Since he's also high on drugs throughout the story, at least up until Markus gets shot, we also know that the Leo we see isn't the real Leo. Later, if Carl is dead and Markus visits his grave, he encounters Leo again. This time, when Leo sees Markus he is only shocked. Now, off of red ice, not only is he going to see Carl's grave, expressing love for his father, he also doesn't try to hurt Markus, insult him, or anything mean or dehumanizing. His expression lacks any signs of aggression. It was only when he was high that he was such an asshole. Although that doesn't excuse his behavior, it does give a reason for it, and by the end I consider him redeemed.
~~~
Wow... that was a long response to a very short ask. No need to read all that (although I would highly suggest reading my first answer, at least, since that does contain some very relevant points). Although then again, if you've made it here, you've probably already read all that. In which case I would love to hear your opinions if you're willing to share (as well as anyone who sees this!) I guess I just had a lot of opinions that I needed to put out in the world lol, so thank you sm for the ask!!!!! 💛💛💛
8 Anti LO Asks
1. It doesn’t really make sense for a long term comic such as LO to have such a drastic change in the artstyle, and even more you can’t really call it an improvement when all the interesting parts of the art style are now gone and all that it is now it’s just some basic same-face and body art style with barely any backgrounds. RS is incredibly talented for illustrative artwork and it’s really a shame she’s not doing that anymore and instead has left it to her team, with leaving them very messy sketches. The artstyle in the beginning had life and glamour and now it’s just very dull and boring. That’s not an improvement
2. I genuinely can’t think of any man in LO that’s even half way decent. Poseidon maybe? Hephaestus? Those are the only two I can manage, meanwhile the rest are either Rachel purposely ruining them because of her own biases (Zeus, Apollo, Thanatos to an extent) or are “good” men who are just creeps who disrespect all the women around them and are super creepy and obsessed over a literal teenager who acts like a child (Hades, Ares, Hermee, Eros, etc). The women aren’t much better either.
3. About Perse making Hades childish: (this is no way defending him, just some speculation, and tbh I doubt that RS has thought this through haha) I wonder if he becomes a horny teenager around her because she’s a goddess of fertility? Would that have any affect on him? Doesn’t excuse his creepy ass behavior, but could explain it a bit, I guess?
4. Okay so I'll be honest I dont really see any reason to 'simp' over Any of the LO characters?
Also, not to start sh*t, but - I think part of the reason why some of the LO fandom does not like Zeus (and perhaps gives Hera more leeway - at least in terms of cheating) is because:
Mythologically Zeus is a known cheater / rapist (Io for example, or Semele)
They see Hera cheating a Zeus as okay (its not) because he's been known to cheat on her in the past / fans see Hera cheating on Zeus with Hades as 'justified revenge' for what he's (Zeus) put her through
I'll be honest I dont really see Zeus (or Hades for that matter) as good rulers because
Despite other deities (like Eros) doing 'acts of wrath' - they get away with it because they often have someone to back them up (like Aphrodite offering to sleep with Zeus to get her son out of trouble) - but the one time Persephone does something wrong (an act of wrath) - Zeus wants to give her the Prometheus treatment - mainly so he can feel like an in control king whos subjects respect him
The reason this sound so odd is because of RS writing choices. Zeus is a grade A d*ck who is willing to destroy a 'young girls promising career' because she made 1 mistake that one time. But at the same time the act of wrath is framed oddly because Demeter doesn't want her daughter to get in trouble so she covers it up (its like the equivalent of hiding a murder from the cops).
Zeus wanting to Prometheus Kore seems overly harsh because she is a Child. (Well a teenager) - so it adds to the "Zeus is a d*ck" card, because she doesnt have the life experience to "get away with" stuff like the other deities because she is young AND sheltered.
Like again, the whole concept of Human Laws applying to Gods is so confusing:
Would Zeus have been this harsh if Demeter had simply come forward in the first place about Persephone's murder rampage? Why did she blackmail / get other deities involved to cover it up? Is Zeus THAT much of a d*ck in Demeters eyes that she knows he would harshly punish a child for something "she didnt mean to do" (killed mortals based on a feeling?)
Why is there a motherf*cking trial in the first place? Do All the other deities get the right to a fair trial or is this a special case? (Like can any deity just offer to sleep with Zeus and he'll let them off the hook?). If the other deities had commited the same crime would the trial / punishment be the same or does Zeus just have a rage boner because he was lied to? If thats the case then why are the other deities taking Persephones side during the trial? (Ares I can maybe understand cause hes the God of War and stuff but everyone else is taking Perse's side because their either her personal friend or family member (Hecate, Hermes, Demeter, Hades etc).
Why are there certain laws like "Zeus cant get to Persephone because she has clemency in the underworld" but other deities - including Leto, Demeter and others (like Perse's nymph family) can just stroll into Hades house? Why is Hermes still on house arrest? Why are Hades + Persephone throwing a house party when shes on trial for scythe crimes??!!!
Why are the gods bound by such petty squabbles?
The way RS set up the governing "laws" in universe just doesnt make a whole lotta sense. Also, sorry this got ramblely.
5. Tbh i don’t think that Hades acting differently when he’s with Persephone is a bad thing, as a concept. But there are many issues with this such as the fact that Persephone is barely legal and Hades act like an actual child around her. Obviously when you’re with someone they are going to act different than they do when they are at work. The problem is that Hades essentially goes from the “cold-scary king” to a 17 year old hormonal boy when he’s with Persephone. And him making out with her in a middle of a store or them golfing with diamonds or him making out with Persephone again in front of his workplace is not exactly acceptable behaviour from a king. If Hades acts all lovey-dovey with Persephone when their at their home together it’s different, but when they’re at a public place they can’t really do that. I would say that he has to keep a status about him but from what we’ve seen all the citizens of the underworld hate him and don’t respect him at all, from yelling at him to actually fighting with him, so idk how much status there is actually attached to him
6. I swear, the majority of the “cute” HxP moments in LO just seem like a single father dealing with his hyperactive 8 year old over the supposed future intimidating rulers who Rachel is obsessed about talking and drawing their sex life. Is it really that hard to depict Persephone even acting like a smart teenager at the very least, as opposed to an airhead grade schooler? It doesn’t scream cute to me, it seems more like a father/daughter relationship. It’s just weird.
7. i mean, i have a LO oc who's persephone's brother (fertility god) between demeter and zeus. dude got thrown into tartyrus to cover up the affair and now serves cronus. he was the god of summer, and my reasoning was demeter's seasons/harvest + summer thunderstorms. wrote a whole minific i will never post about him and persephone realizing everyone around them are assholes and healing together. so the mistress-of-zeus oc isnt that weird.
8. I’m not a Zeus stan by any means, but I do find him one of the most interesting characters, and one that RS has, in her attempts to make him be the worst ever to make Hades look better, actually way more interesting and compelling than the majority of the cast. He doesn’t lie or whine to the audience he’s some good person like Hades when he’s not, he owns that he’s a dick and doesn’t bullshit the audience into thinking he’s someone he’s not. RS tries to show us he’s a “bad” king, yet we see no proof it beyond what, he wants to uphold the law P broke and doesnt kiss Hades’ butt? That’s not a bad king, it’s a good one that he doesn’t let family ties or lust cloud his judgement, unlike Hades or Hera, for example. I don’t condone his cheating either, but it’s not fair to hate him for it, but love it that Hades cheated on Minthe so he could get into a teenager’s skirt and praise Hera for sleeping with her brother in law while punishing Zeus’ mistresses because she’s being a fake “loyal” wife. Just because he’s a deeply flawed, even a bad person doesn’t make him a bad character. Hades and Hera and even Persephone are awful people who do worse than Zeus, yet they’re loved and praised for it, all while being written with the depth of a puddle.
Hello. I read several of your posts about the word of honor. Very interesting and explains a lot. I'm from Russia. May I ask why Chinese authors and readers hate switching pairings? Thank you
Hi! Sorry it took me a while to reply to your question. (I had too much to say!) First, I've only ever discussed the switching issue with c-fans concerning fan works. So quite a bit of this is based on some assumptions. And I’m not speaking for everyone, just based on my limited circle of friends. The biggest chat group I’ve been in for Word of Honor only had 400 people, the group I chat in the most often really has only 15 or so very active members.
I used to have a very judgemental view of why some people don't like switching (not just the Chinese, but Asians in general, like in yaoi). Because it's related to female "fantasy". In almost every slash fandom you go to, the more popular character is usually the bottom (or bottoms most of the time). Of course, there are switching fics and flipped-around pairings, but by and large, you'll notice that there's always the same trend in all fandoms. The preference for a fixed gong/shou pairing isn't exclusive to just the Chinese; it's just a lot more noticeable when it comes to Asian fandoms, because they don’t care about being PC.
(the post got too long, I’m putting the rest behind a cut)
All popular novels targeted at cishet women work the same way (helping them build a fantasy by placing themselves in the lead character's shoes, the female lead or the shou). For BG novels, I think Twilight is an excellent example of this; for danmei, MXTX (both for popularity and enabling fantasy). As a matter of fact, most danmei books have the shou as the main character (these novels are marked as "主受文" on jjwxc, meaning the shou is the #1 main character).
For readers, it's part of the reader-fantasy. Asia still has relatively rigid gender expectations compared to the West, and it translates into BL/slash/danmei/yaoi fandoms. If we use WoH as an example, how many bottom!WKX fics and art are created by fans whose favourite character is WKX? I'll bet it's a majority. Generally, danmei fans tend to prefer to have their favourite character as the "primary" shou.
Non-Chinese fans are just more willing to ignore canon and write what they like, while Chinese fans who don't like it tend just to give up and move to the next one. Neither method is wrong; we can't help what we prefer.
For writers, novels with a couple (CP) that switches tend to be less popular. So if you're an author, even if you don't mind switching, why would you minimize your possible success?
Priest's novel fandoms tend to "suffer" a bit in terms of popularity as both characters in her novels are always pretty strong/toppy. I've had Chinese friends tell me they gave up on finishing some books because they "supported" the wrong CP, even though Priest doesn't write explicit smut, and they can easily skip over the suggestive few lines of text!
When it comes to fan works, many people who hate switching or flipped CP say that by doing so, the characters become OOC. I don't think this view is necessarily correct as I can usually imagine specific circumstances where switching can happen in character. The novels I struggle with finding a scenario where switching happens in-character are Qiang Jin Jiu, Faraway Wanderers & SVSSS (the side pairing).
The unreasonable fans may even claim it's disrespectful to the original work (I don't think they really believe this, though).
Most groups, topics and CP-specific forums ban all talk of switching (互攻) or flipped-couples (逆cp). You'll often see stuff like "不拆不逆" (don't split the CP and don't flip them), "拆逆SI" (split/flip them and you die) in group rules. It’s also the same the other way, for example if you post WenZhou in a ZhouWen group, you’re also going to get scolded.
Fans don't like it, and to be honest, people with agendas to snuff out Word of Honor's (and RPS) popularity in China have been posting a lot about GJ's role in a previous danmei adaptation to turn the fans off (it works), so I get why it’s not allowed. I heart WoH and the actors, I don’t want them to lose fans just because of something as silly as topping/bottoming.
I used to be quite bitchy (and judgmental) about the lack of switching in fic because it's not realistic. After immersing myself more in c-fandom (WoH forced me back into fandom!!), I've become less judgmental about it. Because I realized the fans know it's not realistic as well, and they're okay with that. Before, I thought they were just lying to themselves tbh.
I even prefer switching (or flipped around pairings) in some fandoms because sometimes the shou is often feminised. I hate that. If I'm going to read something like this, then I might as well be in an m/f fandom. I want both the characters to seem like men and have masculine traits.
If you've been reading gay romance novels (written for men) on Amazon from before m/m novels (written for women) became popular, you would know what I mean by the difference. (I’m not trying to sound like a dick, I just don’t know how to explain this difference well) Also, does this make me seem old?? LOL. I'm going to be in my mid-thirties this year. I like that m/m novels tend to have happier endings (since I am a woman), but I also find that feminisation of the bottom/shou happens far too often.
To me, a big part of the appeal of Word of Honor is the beautiful gong who's super shameless (美人攻 ) and the alpha!shou who thinks he's the top. If it were no longer the case (ZhouWen instead of WenZhou), honestly, WoH would just be like any other danmei novel/adaptation.
hi! i saw ur post on adam rippon and since im new in the fs fandom, i was wondering if you’d be open to explaining briefly what some people did? I’ve seen complaints with plushenko, weir, yagudin, eteri and daniil.
hi! sorry for taking so long to answer this. i know you said “briefly” but i tried to be as comprehensive as possible RIP. also please note that i’ve been kind of away from figure skating this past season so i may be missing a few details, but i’ll try to explain the best i can.
content warnings: racism, anti-blackness, abuse, eating disorders, homophobia, transphobia
1. evgeni plushenko
back in 2018 news came out on how he and his wife abuse their then five year old child, alexander plushenko, for him to be the “best skater.” it was reported that they beat him with a belt and lock him in dark, tiny spaces to “teach him a lesson.”
he’s also been bad mouthing his former students to the media, most notably anastasia tarakanova after she left him 2019. truly fucking insane to me how teenage girls handle these more gracefully than adults (case in point: yulia/evgenia/alyona with eteri, anastasiia gubanova with buyanova, etc). also, someone correct me if i’m wrong but i’m pretty sure he made alexandra trusova compete with serious trauma back in rusnats as well as made alyona kostornaya compete earlier this season despite her having complications with COVID-19. he’s just fucking incompetent all throughout.
2. johnny weir
oh boy johnny. not only is he in hot water for his borderline xenophobic commentary (especially with yuzuru and anyone beating an american skater for that matter, link is just one of many, but generally his commentary is fucking terrible) but last year had the fucking gall to tweet this when the BLM protests started:
Tumblr media
tweet has since been deleted. but you can see here how he tweets that and then the next fucking day he goes all “happy pride!” as if Black transpeople weren’t the forefront of the lgbt movement in america. amazing.
3. alexei yagudin
where to fucking start tbh. sigh. when the gpf 19-20 lineup was finalised, yagudin posted on instagram congratulating the russian skaters who made it to the final. cool, right? yeah maybe except the part where he says “ps also huge thank you to sergey voronov that my “favourite” jason brown didn’t qualify for the final, otherwise that would’ve been a SHAME ❗️❗️❗️” (trans. credit @/chopinstsq on twt) seriously, what the fuck?
Tumblr media
then pride month 2020 comes around and adam rippon donates to Black transpeople. yagudin once again goes on instagram to post the most homophobic and transphobic (and one could even argue, anti-Black) shit, saying “When will you all die??? Mistake of the Earth [...] You and coronavirus are the same thing”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know you came from my adam post so of course i am not erasing the anti-asian microagressions adam has done, but in no way does that excuse someone hating on him for being lgbt. adam of course calls him out and then yagudin posts an apology on instagram, but it means shit. you can read the translations of it on twitter by @/harubauer.
but it doesn’t end there !!!!! nope, yagudin has been shit since day one. here’s a 1999 article on how he used the n-word against a Black manager of a restaurant and a Black journalist. from young bigot to middle-aged one. disgusting.
4. daniil gleikhengauz
genuinely wish all i could say about this man is that his choreography is terrible, but alas, it’s not. it’s pretty well-known that eteri girls aren’t allowed to choose their own programs, and this season he gave kamila valieva, a whole fourteen year old, boléro. fucking boléro. who in their right mind gives a 14yo boléro.
not only that, but he’s said that health can and should be dismissed in professional sport. no fucking care for the wellbeing of the athletes he and eteri coach, which is greatly concerning seeing how majority of their athletes are girls who are minors, but are we really surprised? with how they’ve treated adyan pitkeev, yulia lipnitskaya, evgenia medvedeva, and alyona kostornaya? when they constantly push for little girls to jump quads and triple axels with no care for the effect it has on their bodies?
5. eteri tutberidze
there is no fucking person i hate more in this sport than this hag. FUCK this bitch for real. sorry for the lack of pics/links but damn does she make my skin crawl. she made adyan pitkeev compete with an injury, costing him his career. she’s talked shit about every skater that’s left her, most notably medvedeva when she left her after pyeongchang (i vividly remember the discourse and hell this released on twitter at the time) and alyona when she left earlier this season. she constantly starves, abuses, and pushes her skaters. no care for them at all.
special section because i’m a bitter yulia stan and i will never forgive this hag for what she’s done. she abused yulia and caused her to develop anorexia with cost her her career. there were reports of her silently encouraging the skaters at her rink to bully yulia, and reports from parents of other skaters that she would treat yulia so harshly that it was terrible to watch. when yulia transferred to urmanov those same skaters at the rink would spread lies to the skaters at urmanov’s rink, but luckily they realised it was bullshit. urmanov described yulia as a “distrustful kitten” when she first transferred like please you just fucking know how shitty they must’ve treated her back at eteri’s rink. russian figure skating personas talked shit about her every chance they got and eteri too. it’s also notable how yulia liked a comment about how eteri always blames the kids she coaches when they leave her (this was when alyona left) instead of acting like a fucking adult 😄
