i just obtained The Art of Darkness: The History of Goth (2023) off the list of iwtv s3 references Rolin Jones mentioned in press. oh my god?

not only is it huge, it is in 9 point font with 6 point font footnotes:

it just goes on forever

i was able to get it on interlibrary loan. (i did manage not to say holy shit when the librarian pulled this loan out from behind the counter.) the other lending library said i could have seven (7) days to read the 500 pages. 7 days. which is doable, but at what cost. at what cost.

so curious what the influences from this will be

the content is massively comprehensive--AND it is miraculously eminently readable. it's not like the man's blathering: there's a lot to cover, and he's doing it in interesting granular detail?
