Taking a Break

Hi everyone.

As you’ve probably guessed from the title, I am taking a break from the Criminal Case fandom. I’ll be gone for at least 2 weeks, maybe more if needed. While I’m gone, I will not be on any sites, at least not for CC-related reasons, updating any of my stories or posting new content on Tumblr. That means I won’t be checking notifications or even going on some platforms, and I will be leaving all the Discord servers I am in after posting this.

If you need to reach me (please don’t contact me about CC), I will occasionally check my direct messages on Discord.

2024 has so far been the worst year for my mental health, and to summarize how I feel in one sentence: I’m tired, and honestly, I have considered leaving CC more than once. I tried not to let my mental health affect my relationship with CC since it was like the light at the end of the tunnel for me. But with things calming down IRL, I’ve realized how straining CC was on my mental health and a person can only bend so much before they break, and I fear I will break if I do not step away…

I have been in the CC fandom for over 10 years, most of that time spent as a lurker and then as a writer who stayed in a little bubble isolated with my stories and rarely engaging with others. But over time, I came out of my bubble with the help of friends I made through CC and gained even more along the way. However, things have happened recently behind the scenes that are making me consider leaving the fandom, so it's time I take a break and focus on other things for a little while.

This is not goodbye forever. If you know me and my stories, you know my goal is to write every Criminal Case season from 1 to 8 (yes, I will be writing and hopefully improving City of Romance!). I’ve been at it for about 8 years, so I’m too far into things to give up!

But I have another goal, and no, I’m not referring to making headcanons for every CC character. It's to create a safe space for people to share their ideas, thoughts, and opinions without fearing ridicule. There is enough hate in the world, so why should I contribute to it when I can use my platform to be positive instead? It’s why, even when the idea might not be my cup of tea, or I might not understand parts of it, I still encourage people to pursue their ideas and focus on the good things. I hope people know that you can send me the craziest, crack-filled ideas (anonymously or not) and that I will do my best to give positive feedback.

I do give constructive feedback if people ask me to, but again, I’m no Goddess of Writing and Content Creation, so I would never expect people to take my words as gospel. I would never want people to feel they HAVE to change something in their creation just because I suggested it. I want people to be happy with THEIR work, just as I am with mine.

The biggest piece of advice I always give people when they ask for my help or opinion on their project(s) is to write about what makes you happy. While it is important to listen to feedback to learn what you can improve on, ultimately, YOU are the creator. YOU are putting in the time, effort and skills into the project, and if YOU are not happy with what you are creating, then you will lose interest in it. Create things you are happy and proud of. YOU are bringing your ideas to life and sharing them for others to enjoy, not the other way around.

You can never please everyone, but you can always please yourself.

But do NOT use that as an excuse to spam, rage bait, or terrorize others. Everyone is entitled to their likes and dislikes, but you should not force your opinions on others. If you see something you don’t like, just ignore/block it and keep scrolling. It takes much less time than writing a hate comment or making a call-out post. And while sometimes those are reasonably warranted, please still take the time to consider the repercussions of something before you post it and ask yourself: Is it really worth it?

If you’ve stuck with me this long, thank you for listening to my rambling.

Maybe it's naive or wishful thinking to hope people have learned from 2024 and will think before they post, but I hope at least some people will learn from their mistakes or those of others. I know I have learned from the mistakes I’ve made. I don’t think I’m perfect or anyone special because, at the end of the day, I’m just a writer who discovered a hobby for creating fanfiction when they were a teen and somehow gained a following of amazing fans and made fantastic friends along the way. I’m human and make mistakes, but it's from those mistakes that we grow and improve as people.

That said, I am signing off for now. My mental health is at rock bottom, and all I can focus on recently is negative. I keep thinking the worst of my writing and other content. All my mind has been telling me is that everything I make is terrible, and no one likes it. And while I know that is far from the truth, thanks to the amazing support and love I receive from all of you (shout out to everyone who keeps the CC fandom alive!) I must leave and stop focusing on everything before returning with a clear, more positive mindset.

I will see you all when I return. Will I not do anything CC related? Probably not, since you can take Astra out of CC, but you can't take CC out of Astra! But I will not be touching or even looking at my mainstream series while I’m gone, so don’t expect me to return with an update ready for it.

hello!! scuttling out to check... here are the recent camp cuts. way way way more thoughts under the cut :3

there are many in the qrts saying these camp cuts mean he'll be there opening night!! the buzz is: unless we see him get sent down by. tuesday?? then he'll get his 9 games (or less, who knows!). for the rest of the season.... there's this guy from tsn who thinks he'll ultimately get sent back to juniors. i think the going sentiment is he'll go back after his "cup of coffee". but. BUT. who knows right? :)

i know it's super rare that d-men make it to the nhl right after being drafted. the point has and will be made over and over again: even the league's best dmen in q.hughes and c.makar both had a stint in college after their drafts. for whatever reason, it is generally understood that d-men take a little longer to cook <3 so i think we should be happy whatever happens. if he gets sent down tomorrow, after 1 game, after 9 games, we should be super excited he made it so far!! like, lets not forget, he literally JUST got here after playing against teenagers in juniors.

i was heartened to hear Travis Green in this availability (timestamped, my transcript below):

Q: Carter Yakemchuk playing alongside Jake Sanderson tonight; what did you like about that pairing? TG: Yeah i thought Carter looked, at the beginning of the game, like it was a little quick for him, but by the end he looked like he adjusted and he was fine. And, you know he's kind of - that's kind of been the story of his training camp so far. He's, you know, his first time on the ice, he kind of isn't up to speed - and rightfully so - but he's a quick learner, and he did it again tonight. He looked a little behind to start and then all of a sudden he looked like he figured out the pace is a little higher and it'll take another jump as we get into regular season, too.

this was from uhhh 3? 4 days ago?? anyway. um. i was trying not to read too too much into this interview snippet and that text i emphasised but <3 i was hoping to see this !! very excited for him !! and honestly it's awesome to hear how well he's keeping up and adapting to things as they come. so. lets see if he can kick it the whole season. crazy things could happen !! im not optimistic but i WILL be happy if he does stick around beyond his 9 games!!

Most important here is thinking about what's best for his development. for fun, lets say he does do super well, to the point that the Sens have to consider keeping him beyond his 9 games. two arguments i've seen laid out by other people regarding other players + Yak himself, plus a side of some of my own thoughts:

(1) How much more can he do in juniors?

If he's getting top minutes in the WHL but absolutely smoking children, what is he learning? "juniors habits" are the most damning things you'll hear about a player - implying their game lacks a level of pace, maturity, whatever - an absolutely dreaded insult to hear about your favourite guys. the idea is we don't want him picking up "juniors habits" such as trying to do too much with the puck (a bit too late for this one!! he loves to dangle!!!), poor/lazy defense, relying too much on a size/speed/strength advantage which you might have in juniors due to age and body development but NOT in the NHL.

you have the "iron sharpens iron" philosophy, there's the argument that if he can handle NHL competition at all and can work his way up to more trust from his coaches, why not keep him where he can hone his skills against people that challenge him?

(2) What does it do to have him in the NHL?

So on the other hand, if he's getting bottom pair minutes in the NHL with limited responsibility, which he likely will given he's 18, what is he learning? What does the Senators blue line look like right now? Who is he replacing? Who can he supplant in the depth chart?? He could otherwise be playing in the WHL and getting high minutes, lots of puck touches to grow his confidence, space to experiment and grow his game in terms of defensive details, skating, vision, etc.

Additionally, the Calgary Hitmen may be pushing for a playoffs spot this season. They have a fair amount of returnees who are "veterans" (<- DERANGED thing to call 18-year-olds but . WHATEVER!!! shaking my fist at juniors hockey) (including Sharks prospect Carson Wetsch who was just given the C!!!!!), and several players who could potentially have monster years after performing well last season. The roster is looking strong on paper and will only get stronger with Yak back in the lineup. Given all of this, why not have him in juniors getting some of that oh so valued "playoffs experience" rather than playing like 10-12 mins a night on the Sens.

(3) secret third thing

per this article, the NCAA is about to vote on something huge!! a proposal that would implement emergency legislation to allow major juniors players to play college hockey. the vote is speculated to be in order to "head off legal challenges" - there've been antitrust accusations and class action lawsuits brewing for a hot minute now between major junior players and the NCAA!

what does this mean for Yak? well. that's a pipe dream of an option for players who are sorta stuck between juniors and the NHL - too good for one, but not quite getting what they need from the other - and they can't go to the AHL due to that stupid as FUCK agreement stating that CHL draftees can't play for an AHL team until they've got 4 seasons of junior hockey OR they turn 20 by some cut off date...!

College hockey levels of competition keep getting better - like we are seeing so many high draft picks go play a year or two of college - and the challenge would be higher just by sheer fact of grown men playing in the NCAA (18-25 year olds). We don't know how quickly the rule changes would be implemented IF they even agree to do it. but. you know. secret third option is to see if Yak can go play college hockey <- I have to stress that this is the one i think is Least likely, and more of a crackpot theory on my part. honestly i just wanted an excuse to shit on the CHL agreement and the NCAA for gatekeeping college hockey from major juniors players (GET THEIR ASSES!!!)

My version of Candy isn't actually supposed to contradict what we know of her already, more so really really build-off-from and completely take and run with what little we were given about her.

I'm fine with anyone's HCs I believe everyone should have fun and it doesn't have to match cannon! but in the same note if we're talkin' character analysis and not HCs they often don't even target what she did wrong and just go "whore." And. Uh. Yeah never been a fan of that.. Not a fan of how she was supposed to be a "golddigger joke" or something in the show either but ehh.

She's not a bad mother because she was on her phone or because she wears tank tops or because she has sex or anything else I've heard while being in this fandom dear GOD SKSKNDJN but this post will literally be 3x longer if I get into my takes on that so it's a different post if y'all want it one day.

Candy didn't remember something important, something traumatizing for Nikki and that's where her flaws lay. Their communication is lackluster. I think it makes her a flawed parent and a flawed person but it doesn't mean "she's scum of the earth condemn this woman to hell immediately," she still loves Nikki and shows she does in the same episode she tells her not to karate chop strangers and get them sued so she doesn't just let her do whatever. She refers to her as "my angel" and Nikki looks up at her when everyone is eating with this smile and they LOVE each other and raaahhh I love the sillies so much.... Cryinhng..

I've mentioned in my post about Neil's mother how I believe that the egg episode they're mirroring their own parents and Nikki being so worried about fucking up her egg and not knowing what to do and being unprepared and scared. I HC Candy had Nikki when she was like 20-21 and recently kicked out by her own mother and she had no support or knowledge of what to do or how to care for a baby and it was SO much trial and error but it bleeds into my HC about Nikki where she has all these big thoughts and emotions but gets regarded as simple minded by her peers because she can't find a way to express them verbally and comes off simple minded or stupid. This doesn't stop her from feeling complicated things it just stops her from being understood.

((literally the whole Christmas episode is her going "I love this thing so dang much!!! I can't tell you why though. I'll know it when I see it.?))

So when you have a unprepared parent who's working by trial and error and you can't verbalize to them the errors or make sense of your feelings that's where issues come in!!

Minor New episode spoilers: Nikki can't write eligibly when she writes letters to her mother. I think is some great potential to be visual storytelling about this if I ever could make a fic. Her handwriting is bad. She gets excited and doodles and scribbles. You can't make out what she's saying. Maybe her mother never even got to know about what happened in the flower scouts because she said it over letter.

Candy still sent her there and lied about it being adventure camp and I hc it was done not because she wants to force feminity on Nikki or anything (if that's the case Nikki would be dead like literally 💀 she needs dirt to live) but because she wanted her to make friends and since she had such a good time as some version of a scout herself she thought Nikki would too. She loves Nikki and supports her wolf-kinning and playing in the mud but of course is concerned she's estranging herself from other people by barking and biting them and sending her out into the woods she would've just continued to ignore people in favor of animals. Candy had a "it'll be good for her!" Type rationalization about lying.

Then next summer she wanted to make her happy and followed through with going to adventure camp for realsies and was scatterbrained about it and misremembered the previous year's sign up for that one.

A misunderstanding didn't hurt Nikki any less. You can have all the good intentions in the world and still screw up and accidentally hurt somebody you care about.

Personally I love depicting Candy as being really really affectionate with Nikki and she calls her not only "my angel" but variations of "baby/sweetie/hunny" and the biggest nickname she has for her is probably "sunshine"

Candy also can't cook lol she tries but it's the only thing in the world Nikki won't eat is her mom's cooking so Candy buys them TV dinners and premade stuff alot. They have "barbeque nights" where Candy brings home ribs and they watch TV together and live in this lil trailer home near a forest. (In the first trailer for camp camp we see Nikki using a slingshot on cans with flowers painted on them and I'm like yeah her back yard just goes directly into the woods I know it does)

I actually HC Candy's off and off boyfriend/husband Andrew is the one who'd force gender roles on Nikki if at all. Guy who jokes about "hookers and blow" ((Infront of his 9-10yo daughter)) with his friends yk that guy.

Also I wanna mention Candy isn't even her actual name she got it during her time in the adult film industry (🌽) and it's actually Caroline. She doesn't really introduce herself as that anymore. Sex work in general is often an abusive industry and highly exploitive so she's got some baggage from her time there and falls in and out of being a stripper aswell and struggles to hold down a job that can support her and her daughter and it's part of multiple reasons why she keeps going back to her ex husband bc he's well-off. ((Cannonicaly bought her a car and lawyers))

She didn't even know for sure if Andrew was the father, some AUs I have he turned out to be the father in some he didn't, but she chose to tell him because he could give her daughter the best chance in life and support her education and allthat.

So what do you get?

The Christmas House is a 40x30 lot best placed in Henford-on-Bagley (14 Nettle Lane lot) or somewhere else if you feel like it. The lot is set as a residential lot. It has one large living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a study on the 1st floor. The kitchen is the only room that I couldn’t resist partly furnishing. On the 2nd floor, there are at least 2 rooms meant as bedrooms, one with an ensuite. There's a garage in front of the lot that is pretty substantial and the garden has 2 gates beside the main one (yes, I also added terrain paint so it'll look good in the other seasons as well).

Uses items from the following packs: looks best with almost all packs. But a tip: take a look at the build in the gallery and click on the packs to see the items I used from that pack, it might also look good with fewer packs.

UM AIGHT SO I'd say my main main fandom is the Life Series! From season 1 to the latest season there's 3rd Life, Last Life, Double Life, Limited Life, Secret Life, Real Life (april fools special), and Wild Life that just ended tdy. It is a improv death game series packed with shenanigans, alliances, betrayals, and ofc fun, with different minecraft gimmicks every season <3 Up to u if u want to watch from the first season (there are several movies from different povs, I'd say Grian's is a good starting point) or watch some from the latest series Wild Life to get a feel for it :D (lizzie's episodes are relatively short if you prefer that!)

And then after that go watch animatics oh my god theyre so good, also consume fanart, and fyi the tag we use on tumblr for life series are #trafficblr and #traffic smp o7

AND THEN if u end up liking some of the content creators (ccs), a lot of them are also on Hermitcraft which is kinda my secondary fandom ish :D! A lot of fun shenanigans and amazing building happen there. The current season is season 10, and I'd say you dont really need to watch previous seasons to understand the current one 🫡 (same for life series, tho ofc a lot of people make references back to previous series) (but also I recommend watching hermitcraft season 8 if u have time its SO GOOD)

Hello it's me, oatberrytea/Annie 👵 and yes I did accidentally delete my main tumblr while trying to delete my BG3 sideblog. I'd never deleted a tumblr blog or sideblog before and didn't know there were different steps, I thought after the password confirmation that it would ask me which blog I wanted to delete... but IT NEVER DID. I admittedly did not read everything very well because I assumed it was the way I thought it was. As you can imagine I was very sad for a few days because it's years worth of my pictures and saves and gameplay all gone in a second. I thought maybe to just not create a new blog because to start from nothing seemed too hard and, again, SAD. But I did miss being on here and interacting with everyone and posting so I'm starting over and let's see how it goes! I dont try to make posts like this as it sucks all the fun n life out of the tags at points but theres a person in the tags rn who is openly homophobic and I feel the need to call them out on it. The user in question is @bradwongsgffrrrr . They change their name often from what i saw, so here is the post in question, which is a ship edit of Diego and Evie. Another edit of theirs gets mentioned a lot as well, which is an edit they did of Joe Warren and Louis Leroux

Here is the discussion that happened where they said some pretty gross stuff:

The reason me as well as others assumed the Warren & Leroux edit was a ship edit was cus of the fact people reblogged n replied to it saying how they loved the ship as well as the fact the audio used was a ship audio. Anyways, just wanna warn you all as of there are plenty of queer artists in the CC fandom, so seeing this kind of stuff is always sucky. I will also say, religion is NEVER an excuse for homophobia. Even if you yourself aren't comfortable with queer people, especially in a fandom like this you need to keep it to yourself as even the game itself goes against your beliefs with having openly queer characters. What you personally believe in doesn't give you the moral highground to sit there and judge others for living their lives, especially if it isnt hurting anyone. While there are also other suspicions me as well as others have noticed with certain accounts only reblogging and liking newer/popular posts in the tag and then this person's content, them being around the same time on the exact same date and being very obviously newer accounts with all similar writing styles and images that couldve been taken from google, Pinterest or Tumblr and easily can be accounts that were made for possibly botting notes on this persons posts -

-The main issue is just the homophobia and the doubling down on said homophobia, especially in a fandom as queer as this one. And its clear this person is truly just outright homophobic, it is clear when you read through the messages shown above that they at the very least have a distain towards gay people.

Again, sorry I have to make a post like this, i always hate posting drama-related things instead of fanart or content for yall but this is important as i know so many people in this fandom, esp people who make content for it here, are queer and i dont want people having to experience this. So, I recommend blocking them.

Zelda's 1925 Wedding Dress

Happy New Year everyone!

I woke up today and thought that a beginning of a new year is a good moment to finally release this dress, which has been sitting in my WIPs forever. Something new for a change: a wedding gown inspired by a rl one from 1925. It was originally made extra for Zelda Darlington from @aheathen-conceivably's Darlington Legacy, hence the name - and Heathen was so kind to let me release it to public. So here you go!

As always: Base Game compatible, HQ compatible, properly tagged, custom thumbnails, chronological CAS positioning, specular, bump maps etc. Comes in 2 versions: with and without train; you can use both.

Only one swatch this time, sorry! Feel free to recolour.

Warning: compared to my usual pieces this one is extremely high poly. Slightly over 30K (!!!). Or slightly below for the no-train version. The main culprit is this little beauty:

(A little behind the scenes comment: this dress was also me experimenting with so-called 'blender sewing', which is a very different cc-making method than my usual one. Therefore, as you might see, the result also looks different from my usual style. Much more alpha. I absolutely don't hate it, but I guess some people might, whoops).
