(Alright, going to stop procrastinating and finally make this post.) After playing through the new trilogy in French to see what was different, here are some things about the French localisation of Spirit of Justice I thought you should know:

First of all, I usually like the French and English versions of the games equally. This marks the first time I've actually enjoyed the French version... more than the English one?? Especially Turnabout Revolution? Don't get me wrong, I already loved it in English, but I think the next time I replay it I'll actively choose French. Idk man it just hits different when a bunch of French people are talking about revolution and overthrowing the tyrannical regime etc

Oh yes, speaking of which, yes, the "Japanifornia" parts of the game take place in Paris, France, as usual. No, I have no idea how Kurain village can be next to the mountains and also the sea while also being in the vicinity of Paris. I also don't know why the entire population of a small country in the Himalayas are fluent in French and use it on a daily basis. But seriously, the main characters mention SO OFTEN that they're French and from France, like, all the fricking time. Remember the incredibly Japanese rakugo case? Imagine that taking place in France.

The Khura'inese pun names are hysterical in French. An example that English speakers can get too: the first culprit's name in French is Sterh'uey Tu'heiven. I'm not making this up. That's his name.

Athena has now added German and Italian to her random English and Spanish phrases from the prev game. I mean... it made sense before, since she was meant to have lived in the USA in this version, but now I guess she just does it for fun? Who knows

French Roger Retinz uses €50 notes (euros) to fan himself instead of dollar bills

Inga's full name is "Inga Karkhuul Kel Nomh Bowkhou Tro'lon Pohm'peu Eh'Duhr Apronh Ons'ai Khura'in III" ("quel nom beaucoup trop long, pompeux et dur à prononcer")

Nahyuta's nickname in French is just "Yuta"

Ema and Apollo now use informal pronouns for each other, so do Ema and Trucy now, Maya starts using informal pronouns for Apollo from almost the first moment she meets him (though he uses formal pronouns for her lmao), and yes Dhurke and Apollo use informal pronouns with each other the whole time, even when things are awkward at the start. Rayfa and her mother always use formal pronouns for each other, which is a little depressing.

AS FOR NAHYUTA AND APOLLO... HOHOHO. Obviously they're both using "vous" (formal) in court, but in the scene afterwards Apollo switches to "tu" (informal) when he asks Nahyuta if he remembers him. Later in Turnabout Revolution, Apollo has gone back to vous but he's at least saying "Nahyuta" rather than "Prosecutor Sahdmadhi" or whatever (I think that happened in the English version too). Then during the final trial, after that one insanely angsty scene, Apollo starts using tu again and even (internally) uses the nickname Yuta once! Nahyuta eventually starts referring to him as Apollo and starts using tu after finally openly acknowledging Apollo as his family aaauuuuuugh ;o;

(Listen Apollo usually always tries to be formal and professional in court so this is a big deal!!! It's a big deal to me at least!!!!!!!!!)

In the English version there were a few times our good ol' American Apollo had a sort of "haha I'm just a foreigner I don't know anything here" vibe which... no you're not lol. The French version didn't have that (or at least toned it down a lot) and made him feel less like a tourist and more like an immigrant returning to his old home country with complex feelings, which he is. It makes it more personal that he's the one to bring about the revolution imo -- he's not some random foreigner swooping in to save the day, this is his home and his family, he belongs here. (As an immigrant myself I find aspects of him relatable and will defend his Khura'inese backstory to the death DON'T TEST ME)

I don't mean to be a Hater but I literally cannot see a confrontation where Spy comes clean to Scout that he's his father and it Scout accepting it. Did you forget you're talking about THE SCOUT?? Hey hi sorry for answering so late I really had to think about this because I'm terrible at giving recommendations :(

I'm mostly going to talk about classics because I am more informed on that topic.

My favorite pieces of literature to recommend that are non Sacher-Masoch related are:

- The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe

- Kafka's short stories

- Rimbaud's poems

- Fraulein Else by Arthur Schnitzler

then obviously I'm going to tell you to read either Venus in Furs or, if you want something less "sexual" and a bit less sad, Don Juan von Kolomea. The Sacher-Masoch propaganda never stops (plus look through the Jewish Short Stories cause they are also worth it Might be a bit problematic in some aspects but if taken in the context of the 19th century it's actually pretty good)

For some newer stuff that I read this year and that I liked a lot and would recommend I'd say:

- Sándor Marais ("The Embers" has changed my life)

- The World and All That It Holds by Aleksandar Hemon

- The World of Yesterday by Stephan Zweig

Also little bonus: anything by Rilke because he writes so beautifully.

Also for some of them you might want to thread carefully because they do handle sensitive topics. I wouldn't want for your reading experience to be ruined by getting in a bad mental state.

Kaiser/reader where you're Noel Noah's adoptive neice or something and have never met Bastard Munchen U20 before this but Noel can't leave yu alone in Germany for whatever reason, so he brings you to Blue Lock with him. And you're talking to one of your friends on the phone in French, which you speak because Noah's French and moved to Germany later, and Kaiser overhears you either talking shit or complimenting him or both and his interest is piqued.

(Canonically there isnt any indication he can speak French but they have those supposedly perfect earbud translator things that understand only one language pair at a time so you expect everyone to have theirs set on German/Japanese but he switches to see what you're gossipping about.)

You're by the goal talking to Isagi and doing that exercise where you alternate tapping each foot on the soccer ball without letting both touch the ground at the same time through hopping, so Kaiser aims to knock the ball away and get your attention. Only Ness notices and, before you can get your balance, also shoots at you and you end up tripping over the ball, twisting your ankle, and cursing both of them out.

He convinces Anri to let him help you ice your foot and you are initially really annoyed and mad at him but after a while he gets more bearable and helps you everywhere and apolo- Wait, *the* Michael Kaiser, apologizing to you? And he's surprisingly good conversation and interesting and ahhhh you can't possibly like him, can you?

Ness is not particularly pleased at any of this, to say the least.

omg thank uuuu!!! Ive really been trying to get the first chapter posted before Christmas since it'll most likely be a 10 chapter fic and I wanna already get it on its way. The issue is chapter planning and getting everything written out fully since I never really done a long planned out fic like this. It's been really interesting writing q!Antoine since for most of the fic he's essentially setting up the french against each other so he can step in and "fix" it like a good friend cult leader and it's incredibly hard to reason with him since the other french seem to have more visible issues with them. As white lies and outright betrayal starts to all stack up against each other who else can they trust? Pommes gonna need therapy in this fic lol

Btw I do already have a fic that goes a little into q!Antoines god perspective making him unsettling to Pomme this here, probably same universe as the fic I'm currently writing.

And I'm very late to it but I'm finally able to sit down and answer!

So I'm going to stick to only Negan's part of canon, and also stick to TV canon without comparing it to the comics-- because off the top of my head I have no real complaints about his comic canon, and a LOT of my issues with TV canon involves changes made from the comics and we'd be here all day if I went into that lol, but it could be summed up with "they made loads of changes to Savior-era Negan that made him more unnecessarily evil."

So all of that aside, my overall least favorite parts of Negan's canon on the show are his random love interest/baby plot in season 11, and honestly most of the plot of Dead City.

I want Negan happy more than anything but, without writing a whole essay about it: him randomly showing up with a new wife and kid on the way was unrealistic, their entire relationship happening off-screen was insulting, we learn absolutely nothing about Annie or them as a couple leaving it all feeling one-dimensional (virtually everyone only refers to Annie as "Negan's pregnant wife," even Negan himself most times), and we never get to see them interact except to talk about the baby and staying safe. The relationship itself turned out to just be a plot device to further Negan's storyline with Maggie (this continues to be true in Dead City), and was not to mention a slap in the face to Lucille's memory and importance to Negan when almost "losing everything" (Annie and unborn baby) was what pushed him to relate to and apologize to Maggie, and not when he had actually lost his everything (Lucille.) Even JDM didn't like it.

As for Dead City, my biggest issue is that the entire plot hinged on the Croat knowing things he realistically couldn't know. It was literally "random character the audience has never met but was totally there during the story, tells other character we've never met everything they need to know for the plot to happen, even things they have no way of knowing." It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine when characters learn important information off-screen in ways that don't make sense. How could Jerome the random Savior know about Negan and Maggie working together in season 11 when that was years after the Sanctuary had fallen (which is why Jerome ended up in NY in the first place)? On top of that, how did the Croat have any idea what Maggie and Hershel looked like? How did he find out where they lived, when they were no longer at the original Hilltop location? I also hate that this leads to everything being Negan's fault one way or another.
