all i can think about is how may times poppy reached out to branch , trying to show how much she cared and wanted to include him , and how everytime he dismissed her. i like to think that branch, despite feeling guilty for hurting her, felt like he was protecting her in the long run. not to get too philosophical but “i bite” is literally how branch sees himself , an uncontrollable bad omen who is destined to destroy all things good in his life. by rejecting poppy and her optimism he is subconsciously saving her from what he believes is a cruel fate for all the people close to him.

ione and dylan fighting back to back, intrinsically aware of what moves the other is going to make without having to look. ione laughing during a briefing call with obi wan, and dylan having to swallow down the stone his throat at the sight of her crinkled eyes. ione standing up for the clones against anyone, senators, civs, other jedi, because they might be soliders but they’re people first, clones or not. dylan becoming so used to seeing the force in action that he doesn’t take note of it’s beauty until a shiny gasps under their breath while ione does something in the field, and he has to berate them to keep focused. ione and dylan bantering in the field, competing against each other for droid kills or racing each other to certain staging points, and the rest of the squad just rolling their eyes as if it isn’t ridiculously obvious that they’re two commanding officers are in love. dylan meeting rex (and the others) at 79′s whenever he’s on coruscant, and rex immediately ribbing dylan over ‘his jedi’ while dylan grumbles around his beer. ione introducing gungi to phantom squadron and smiling the whole time as gungi excitedly looks at their armour and asks them questions at such a rapid fire that she can barely keep up with the translation.
