his hands are big, and his fingers are quite thick.

really likes wearing rings and bracelets, but he usually doesn’t wear them when he’s working (i’d say that bc wearing jewelry while doing physical activity HURTS)

regarding texture, his hands were initially soft— but due to transferring in the hero course, they roughened up over time

he’ll use hand cream if you want, but he doesn’t go the extra mile. and his nails are trimmed at all times. painting his nails a black color would be great once in a while.

he notices right away that you like his hands when he catches you staring at them when he’s cracking his knuckles

like.. people have said that his hands are nice, but he doesn’t really say much about them bc they’re not you

a crack sound is briefly heard in the rather silent room. the scrolling on your phone halts, and your eyes follow the sound of the crack.

ah, he’s cracking his knuckles. you think to yourself, and you’re left just simply admiring the way he applies pressure on a knuckle. who knew that his rather— large hand would look appealing, even while cracking his knuckles.

you snap out of your observation, but instead of just simply going back to whatever you were doing, you’re met with lilac eyes. “you were staring again.”

your cheeks heat up, and you opt to just turn your head to the opposite direction. “sorry,” you apologize. however— that’s not what hitoshi was looking for apparantly.

“if you like my hands alot,” he scoots next to you, hands sliding up and down your arms— his firm grip practically making the pre existing butterflies in your stomach act up again. “then you should’ve said so, kitty.”

is he conscious of his actions? hm. you could say that

he’ll purposely play with his capture tool right in front of you— the material wrapping around his hand. and he can only laugh when you immediately get absorbed into it

the back of his hand will brush against your cheek. then, when he comes in to kiss you, he’ll cup your cheek— kissing you with his other hand resting at your nape

under the table, his hand will start to slide against yours, interlocking hands with you. he’ll act like nothing is happening, but on the inside— he’s taking in your reaction

a little spicy, but when he wants you to look at him— he’ll do that thing where his thumb brushed against your bottom lip, as it almost dips right into your mouth

if he feels a little extra, his hand will also be tugging on your hair (if you’re fine with that. otherwise, he’s sticking to the one above)

oh and he also does that thing where he rests his hand on your neck, thick fingers squeezing your throat lightly.

overall— THIS MAN omg, he’ll entertain your interest in his hand nicely, just for you. and every single thing he does is memorable

kirishima eijirou

his hands are quite normal regarding size, they are almost always veiny, a lot more than bakugou’s actually. i think at some point he was concerned about them

his hands are rather flushed in color, but that’s because of his quirk. his fingers have a few tiny scars here and there,

he occasionally has pen marks on his wrists due to bad penmanship, and his nails.. don’t look the best, but they’re not the worst it’s bc of his quirk

the palms of his hands are ridden with callouses. but he wears them with pride because it’s the pure evidence of his hard work with his training.

but he starts to get worried about them when he goes to hold your hand.

you always had a thing for kirishima’s hands, but you just never had the chance to tell him that. i guess asking you did it for him

scenario

did you even realize how hard you were staring at his hands right now? it happened every single time he enlaced his arms around you, his hands resting at the sides of your arms

at first, he thought it might’ve been because his hands are too rough, or you might’ve been in discomfort— because maybe, just maybe, he accidentally activated his quirk?

the fact that he can’t exactly tell what it is worried him, maybe he should just ask you.

but his worry washed off when you told him upfront that you ‘liked his hands’

“wait so.. you’re staring at my hands because you like them?” kirishima wants to confirm your words, and— so casually, by the way— nod in agreement.

tracing the veins on his hands, you elaborate “your hands are really nice, i can tell how hard you must’ve worked.” pressing your smaller hand against his, you smile.

eijirou takes a moment to process it, but it’s surprisingly quick. “oh t-thanks!” he sheepishly took the compliment, a small blush sporting on his cheeks. “i’m glad it wasn’t because you thought they were weird.”

kirishima unintentionally feeds your interest with his hands. like sometimes.. he’s just not aware of it, but yes— he is feeding your interest well

will always make you compare hand sizes with him, chuckling softly at the dazed look on your face when your palms touch

if you allow him, he’ll fix your hair for you. doesn’t matter what hair type you have, he’ll do LOTS of research to know how to style it

those hands are magical

if you get a papercut, or a wound from cooking— he’ll patch you up, then he’ll press a kiss on the bandaid.

he’ll do this thing where he’ll squeeze your sides when you pull in for a hug. but if you’re not okay with that, he’ll opt to just rubbing your back with his hand— rocking you softly as he hugs you

a little spicy, but his hands do wander a lot. you might need to even hold them in place to make sure they don’t go too wild

in addition to that, he’ll just SLIGHTLY, activate his quirk to make sure you’re conscious of his touch. his finger tips gliding against your back, sending shivers down your spine.

but of course, he’s careful. he doesn’t activate it to the point it causes scratch marks, nor will his actions draw blood. he doesn’t wanna do that

in short— kirishima’s a little clueless at first. he wouldn’t really tease you in public, but he’s surprisingly attentive to your interest.

monoma neito

his hands are on the tipping edge of slightly above average. he doesn’t have a lot of veins on his hands, but they do pop out depending on what quirk he’s using

monoma’s hands are pretty spotless of any scars (from cuts, abrasions, etc.) because he gets REALLY annoyed with wounds pretty easily

to the point he’d want to attend to the wound immediately, he doesn’t let them sit— it’s just a personal preference

his nails are at the perfect length. not too long and not too short to the point it hurts, you don’t know how he does it.

wears watches on his wrists, and not the digital type— he sorta acts like he can read it easily, but it takes him a few seconds to even get to know the time

you know this because kendo snitched on him and told you LOL

you secretly hate yourself for this, but you really like his hands because of how he takes care of them. you’d never tell monoma even though you’re dating him

scenario

you’re unsure of yourself on how your boyfriend— monoma, found out about your fascination with his hands. it was supposed to be a secret for the rest of your life, and you only remember talking about it once out loud

which you assumed was a close call, considering that you thought he didn’t hear it at all— but he did.

“so i heard you like my hands, huh Y/N?” monoma’s teasing tone does not aid the situation. your cheeks heat up with embarassment, and you can’t get yourself to answer his question— without sounding like a fool anyway.

you fake annoyance, “where’d that come from?” you ask, and monoma doesn’t seem to want to switch the topic

“i’m asking you a question, dear Y/N— i heard you like my hands,” his tone would’ve sounded condescending to any other person, but you can tell that he’s either genuinely curious

or just teasing you, because that’s how he is.

to aid his question, he brushes his fingers along your neck— near your pulse. you jolt, stunned by the sudden action— heart beating rapidly against your chest.

“see,” monoma presses his hand against your chest, where your heart is palpitating, grinning in a way that’s teasing you “it’s true, isn’t it? sweet Y/N has a thing for my hands, hm?”

you furrow your eyebrows, and flick his forehead— and he hisses in reaction, “fine then, i do like your hands.” you finally give in, admitting final defeat.

ever since then, you haven’t heard the end of it

definitely that person that’ll just randomly bring it up to you, no matter what hour of the day it is.

“oh Y/N, you were totally fawning over my hands earlier—”

“i will castrate you.”

you know he means well most of the time, but sometimes he just loves teasing the heck out of you.

but that doesn’t mean he neglects your obvious interest in his hands.

he’ll compliment you, he’s a snarky person in general— but to you, he’s totally smooth with it.

slides his hand from your forearm to your hands, only to bring them up to his lips, pressing a kiss against your hand

squeezes your hand everytime he sees you, it’s kind of a nonverbal greeting at this point

similar to kirishima, he likes comparing hand sizes— teasing you about the size difference (even if it’s not even a big of a difference, he’ll take that chance.)

does this thing where he rubs his thumb against his palm. does it a lot when he’s concentrated about something, or just out of the blue

a little spicy, but he’ll make you tell him what you like about his hands, and what you like about the things he does with those hands of his. if that makes sense

he wants all of the details, doesn’t care if it’s mundane, or things he does when he’s feeling a certain way.

he wants to know, because as soon as you’re done with your spewl, he’ll do exactly what you like, teasing you while he’s at it. and so he can start incorporating those habits whenever he’s around you.

totally someone that’ll make you suck on those fingers. oh, but he’ll purposely get some dessert on them— asking you to suck them off

“good grief, i got some dessert on my fingers again. Y/N, come suck them off”

sometimes he’s serious, sometimes he’s just teasing.

overall— it’s pretty adventurous. he starts to act on it as soon as the revelation is revealed to him.

but i’d say he does just fine.

not odd at all, i agree it's hard to filter zines! let's see if i can help. this got a bit long bc i misread the question and talked about finding zines to apply for as well as generally what i keep in mind when choosing what zines i apply to so im putting it under a cut

best generally / for fandoms you're already deep in/ fandoms you're less invested in and just happen to think are neat if they pop up. for the op tarot zine, and most zines i applied to/ got into, usually i heard about via word of mouth. so that's reblogs of the promo posts or casual mentions from people I follow, or discord servers, or just chats with friends in that fandom. i like this method because it's the lowest effort and highest likelihood of matching my interests and having the apps still open, and they tend to be a little more reliable bc you already have one layer of someone checking them out/ vouching for them. (but bear in mind i'm also someone who mostly only reads recommended fics from friends whose taste i'm familiar with)

second best/ new fandoms/ fandoms you're not established in. here we have to actually search (boooooo) (i'm lazy lol). you can still use the first method a little bit by searching on the page/blog of a creator you like in that fandom, because that helps filter a bit for interests/ style/ taste/ reliability. i also searched [fandom name] zine or variations. so like "#ygozine" or"yugioh zine" when I was looking for yugioh zines to join. then i consider the application open ones to see if i like the theme, and whether the other details work for me (eg amount of work expected, schedule, rules, faqs, charity/profit, mods, physical/digital only etc).

zine promo / app amalgamation sites. it's pretty easy to find them by looking at existing zines promo posts and seeing the amalgamation blogs/accounts they tag. i don't really use them that much so i can't really recommend specific ones, and the ones i know don't sort easily by fandom or deadline stage, so it's too much work for me personally. i might browse them a little to try my luck but it's the highest effort for the lowest reward. still worth a shot if you can define your search terms well or are willing to trawl. I'd try by just searching the fandom confined to the blog/page. (on tumblr you can do this by adding "/search/[fandom name or shortname]" to the end of the URL.)

very established in a fandom/ willing to ask randomly. you might get invited or someone might drop you an ask saying hey check this zine out they're looking for writers/ other types of creators. you can also just do a general post asking for help like "does anyone know of any zines for [fandom] that are open to apps?" personally and from what i gather from friends, just because they're recommendations doesn't mean that they will necessarily match what you look for in projects but they're worth checking out bc the person recommending usually has some idea of your likes/style/fit. this method has a lot of constraints obviously.

when applying... it may be worthwhile to consider why you're interested in joining, what they are looking for, how many slots they have for what kind of creators, how popular the zine is, what you "specialise" in for the fandom, what your best skills are, what the mods might be looking for (most if not all zines require you to submit sample work). tailor your application. of course, not all zines take writers so your options here might be a little limited (though i'm happy to say i feel like including writing is becoming more common). at the same time, a lot of people underestimate themselves, so definitely apply if you want to even if you feel you might not get in. i think this is probably not what you're asking about though so i wont belabour the point

be careful. i have had the good fortune to have only been in "okay" to "amazing 10/10 extremely trustworthy" zines so far (fingers crossed), but i do have a couple of friends who were burned by dishonest or unreliable zine management before, so do take care! you can save yourself a lot of heartache at the stage when you check out the zine you are applying to. some general indicators for me are whether mod skills cover necessary categories (zines are essentially a business venture and i feel like a lot of people underestimate or do not give enough respect to that); mod experience, age, personal reputations; how questions, rules, schedule, expectations, compensation/charity are addressed. Also these are after joining, but mod treatment of contributors via email or in the discord server and how assignments are handled are early enough that you can form your own assessment and drop if necessary.

take care of yourself also i feel like in these trying times i want to add a note on mental health. i see this too often in my friends, but if your personal circumstances change and you feel like you can't handle the zine obligations anymore, just drop. early is better than late for both you and the organiser, and respectful communication of "sorry i can't be part of the zine anymore for personal reasons" is totally fine. you don't have to disclose anything you don't want to in order to leave and no one can force you to. it's also okay if you don't get into a zine. it doesn't say anything about your worth as a person, even though we as creators can feel rejection of our work very deeply. take time to recover, block/mute/unfollow whatever keywords or accounts you have to for even the tiniest of arbitrary reasons (i absolutely do and highly recommend it), take time to nurture your skills, take time to make things that bring joy, take time to appreciate yourself and the people who like your work. maybe i'm just old/lucky but fandom has been an incredibly accepting and enjoyable place and rejection from a zine (though it can hurt like a bitch sometimes) is not rejection from the community.

So absent knowing specifically what posts of theirs concern you as to whether or not I agree with them, all I can really say is if you’re that bothered by some of their opinions in general then yeah, you’re probably best off avoiding me as well in order to keep your dash a place you’re comfortable with, regardless of how you feel about my fandom meta outside of those posts/opinions. Cuz there really is no outside as far as I see it; my fandom meta is me as is my decision as to who I reblog from and associate with as are my opinions and stances on non fandom matters. It’s all just the same me, one network, many shows, but if any of those shows are the equivalent of Fox News in your eyes, then yeah, for sure, screw that one show that has the one guy you really like and just change the channel and find one that’s a better match for you.

It’s allllllll good.

And for the record, if it’s ultimately more just that they bash things you like and seeing that randomly pop up on your dash might bum you out enough that it’s worth it not to follow me just to be safe there, like, that’s totally understandable and nothing to be sorry about. We all do it. There’s a metric fuckton of people in Batfandom that I probably WOULD follow or read or interact with if it weren’t for the fact that I see them talk and joke and reblog a lot with Big Name Batcest shippers and the like, and I mean, lol hey I’m an incest survivor who hates incest with a passion few will ever understand and seeing it pop up on my dash in posts that talk or laugh about it as something fluffy or sweet or harmless would bum me super hard. So it’s like welp, in every other respect it looks like me and this one person could sync up brainwaves and make like platonic soulmates through our next several lifetimes buuuuuuut they’ve got incest-fluff in their general sphere and that’s a dealbreaker for me so guess we’ll never know now cuz I’m gonna keep standing firmly over here. *shrugs* Does that kinda feel like a waste or a shame sometimes? Yeah, maybe, but like. Your priorities are what they are and if you’re happy with your priorities, sticking with them is the clear choice and not something anyone should kick themselves for.

1K FOLLOWERS! + Appreciation Post

THIS IS INSANE. SO SO SO INSANE!

In exactly a month, my blog will complete one year and I’M JUST SO HAPPY

Thank you to all the lovely people who’ve read my works and have reblogged/liked/commented on my posts, it just makes me so happy that some of you look up to me and I’ve heard that there are fanfictions based on my book Wings and that just makes the news all the more better!

I remember how 2-3 years back I had searched online for ‘cute relationship stories’ (please don’t judge) to read to simply pass time. I came across Wattpad and I read a shit ton of books that actually were quite impressive - now that I think about it - both plot wise and writing wise. Then, last year, I had the sudden urge to write my own work.

Growing up, I read books on different genres and story lines - today’s book would be a thriller and tomorrow’s would be a cute romantic novel. I tended to collect books and although certain people frowned upon my habit of reading and hoarding up books, it never stopped me from loving paperbacks. It was last year that I had decided that I definitely would want to see my name on the cover a book in the future. I don’t care if it’s just one book I’ll ever end up writing - as far as my name is out there in the world, I would love to get a hand on that opportunity.

But of course, in order to be worthy of other’s attention, I definitely would have to practice my ass off. Thus, had come to existence my first book - Playing with Destiny on Wattpad. Now, I knew nothing about creating plots, making up character or villains, or even writing as a whole. I just assumed that every writer would randomly begin their book with a line that popped into their heads and then it would develop into this massively intricate plot with all sorts of twists nobody could think of.

I still laugh at my naivety to this day.

When I figured out that writing a book involves way more elbow grease than what people assume, I deleted the book and thought ‘You know what, maybe writing’s not my thing.’ So I gave up. So easily, I gave up on that dream. But my subconscious was pretty insistent.

BRO NO, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING! YOU CAN’T JUST ABANDON YOUR DREAMS!

Then, my friend introduced me to BTS. Then, I discovered the world of fandom and fan fictions. Then, I discovered @imsarabum (I LOVE YOU SARA!)

It was her blog that had brought to life that spark of writing in me, and her writing that made me believe that ‘Screw the me who thinks I can’t do this. I’m gonna write, and nobody’s gonna stop me.’

So I created this blog. It had actually begun on Wattpad first. I wrote a Jungkook fan fic called ‘I Wish’ that needs to be heavily refurbished, but other than that, I was like hey, you know, I should definitely start my own blog. Because, why not?

As I slowly began gaining followers, and as I slowly began getting requests, I realized that there are people out there who actually love reading my works, and who’d love to see more of it. So, kudos to y’all because you made me want to work harder.

Which is why I can see such a clarity of difference in my works with the passage of almost a year since the starting of this blog.

I’m sorry I didn’t mean to educate y’all about my life story...I just wanted all of you to know that I hold each one of you very close to my heart, and I love all of you with all of me. And one day, I hope to see my name on a book.

I’d like to thank certain people who’ve been so kind to have stretched out a hand of friendship towards me.

@charrytommoto Auri, darling, you were my first ever friend on this site, and I still remember how you messaged me asking if we could be friends. I know you’re busy these days but I hope you see this and how much I appreciate your friendship. You’re a star in my universe <3

ok so this is it… the end. this was going to be second but i thought why not end with this. this is where it is going to get a bit emotional… so if you don’t want to hear all the gay that i am about to say then just look at the pretty edit. emily you are not allowed to skip this so buckle up babe… because you know how i can get when i decide i want to gift you some words… ok here we go!

ok so funny story… i wasn’t gonna start out this way but i was going through the early days of our tag and well i wished you a happy bday a year ago.. specifically while you were trying to get through interludes. so can you believe its been a fucking year since icos and our 12 hours skype sessions. those were the days were our relationship grew from “still had some chill” to “are you sure you two aren’t dating” so damn that book series. but seriously just needed to point that out. now here comes my incoherent babbling about how much i love you and how much you really mean to me. 

so, i’m pretty sure everyone knows the story of how me and emily met. god knows we talk about it enough. but it wouldn’t be an emotional emily and laura post if i don’t mention it so lol. i remember it, that february day, oh god. so she idk follows me or finds my blog and at the time i had a neil url and she just starts yelling at me on the chat. that stupid fucking messaging system. and of course i just start screaming back. and in the back of my mind i’m thinking how do i get this nerd girl to keep talking to me about our foxes and really i didn’t have to do much bc we exchanged numbers (she made me get a whatsapp) the next hour. and guys look.. i didn’t do this type of stuff before. i randomly talked to people and the only person i kept in contact with was my irlbff. so emily was not a normal occurrence. but anyways she asked if she could call and my heart was like beating out of my chest cause omfg what the fuck but of course i said yes and that’s how i find myself outside mid day on a february in texas walking around my front yard, my backyard, and yelling about literally everything we had in common at the time. 

now, i thought this girl is awesome and every part of me wanted to keep talking to her but i just knew that we’d talk for a month a few at max and then you know that thing would happen where you just lost connection, even tho i felt like i had just found like part of my soul. 

not what happened. the next week or couple of weeks we had our first skype session.. it lasted 6 hours yall. like who does that with someone they just met. fast forward to late august of 2016 and there we are getting into icos against our better judgement and there its kind of history. with our 12 hour skype sessions. and us eating dinner and breakfast together on opposite ends of the world and in complete different timezones. and i don’t know if something just clicked then cause we were already too close for our situation. but after that it was like i knew that this wasn’t some fluke this was real. and i HAD found a part of my soul. and god that’s cheesy but it’s fucking true. i’d run to the end of the world for this girl. and i’d do it multiple times. 

so that’s part of the story i guess. but i’m not done talking and emily i’m sorry babe but you know how i get i’m gonna write some more here so really buckle up. 

when i say i love you emily, i truly mean it with every part of me. i’ve never had a relationship like i have with you and the ones i had that came close don’t even touch to what we have. you’re so much more than my best friend and i don’t have a word for it and i don’t think words could justify it. but you keep my world spinning sometimes and then others you can make it stop. you are my rock when i need someone to ground me. you are the light in my life when i can’t seem to even get one positive thought in my mind. you support me through everything that i do and truly believe that i can be great at my career and in life in general. and i don’t know where i would be without you. 

you’re a good listener. you give great advice. and sometimes you just help me to stop thinking. you do so much for me and i hope that on the flipside i’m doing everything that i can for you. our relationship isn’t perfect and i’m glad it isn’t im glad that we can talk as honestly as we do and that we don’t keep anything from each other. and sometimes i’m amazed at how honest we can be bc so much of our relationship is over text or phone and its so easy to not say things when you’re not in person. but i would never let myself not be fully myself with you and that comes down to even the parts of me that i don’t want anyone to see. 

i’m also so happy that i’m the person that you talk to even when you don’t want to talk to anyone. i can’t believe i’m that person for someone, that person that even when the world is too much i’m not. that you trust me enough to be that person… it means… literally everything to me. 

you are always the highlight of my day, your snaps, texts, stupid messages, emojis, the fact that we’re each others screensavers. god that is freakin gay wow. i wanted to go through posts and like remember our relationship for the PAST YEAR AND A HALF CAN YOU BELIEVE LOL. but haa its like 55 pages and i don’t think i could summarize the best points cause they’re all just so good. we’re fucking legendary sometimes, you know. god this is a mess. this girl knew there was a hurricane happening in texas before i could tell her and has been the most dramatic about it. so if that says anything.

This quote, this fucking quote ok wow. like ya do shit for yourself and you can create your own happiness blah blah like cool but babe sometimes you are the thing that makes me feel alive. and knowing that there is someone out there that loves me as much as i’m 100% you do keeps me going day to day. i’d swim across the damn fucking ocean for you. and one day we’ll get to see each other in person and it’ll probably be the best damn time of our lives and i can’t fucking wait for it bc it’s gonna happen. and we’re gonna road trip with son and yell at each other about music and scream in person about our favorite characters and spend hours reading together and probably some times on our computers not talking, bc honestly half our skype sessions are us just silently soaking in each other’s company and i wouldn’t change that for the world. 

you are without a doubt one of the most important people in my life, if not the most important and i can’t explain how it feels to have someone that knows me as well as you do and to have that in return with you. i love that as our relationship has grown it’s gone from we have all these things in common in fandom to we have certain fandom things in common but our lives are intertwined and even if we had nothing like that in common it wouldn’t matter. i know you have class on wednesday, i know you can’t skype in the early hours of morning but you will take my call. i know you live in the middle of nowhere and it takes like an hour to get to the city. i know your dad is australian but 50% of the time i hear him speak it’s with that terrible american accent. and well here…

The things i know about emily: she hates coffee but she will try every concoction she can to stay awake while reading, she loves her new puppy even though she said she wasn’t that attached, she has way too many comics (this girl set up a store on ebay ok), she is the most indecisive person to ever grace the earth, her books are arranged in alphabetic order correctly but only after i made sure they were correct, she loves rock music and can’t stand pop, she’s one of the most gorgeous people in the world but doesn’t believe it (uhm she should tho), she…. ok i could go on forever and i can never do those questions on tumblr bc i know everything about her. 

omg this should prob end soon, but like ok emily this is just a mess and i’m sorry but just if you didn’t know i love you more than anything and i hope you have a wonderful day and that we have many more bdays of yours to celebrate even when you don’t want to celebrate them. i’m so glad that you messaged me that day bc there would be a hole in my life without you. you’re amazing, incredible, outstanding, kind, hilarious, an asshole, and like my soulmate. also i’m listening to stand by me while writing this (the power rangers version) so just… i’m about to cry with how much you mean. 

to emily: i love you i love you i love you. and i will love you until the stars i’m looking at now and the ones you will see when you’re reading this can be looked at while we sit with each other outside one of our houses. and i will keep loving you through the distance and the ocean and the fights and the tears and the stubbornness of the world for not letting us be closer in the first place. you have undoubtedly changed my life for the better. you have made me a better person. more confident, happier, and somehow calm. there are days when you make my heart race (gay) and days when you make me still. Digimon Adventure tri. – Chapter 3: Confession | Sorato

My thoughts on everything Sorato in the third chapter of tri..

Finally. FINALLY. I have forced myself to re-watch Confession. (OK, I really just skimmed it. Hee. So if I missed anything, please let me know and I’ll add it in!)

This is about Chapter 3: Confession and NOT Chapter 4: Loss. Yes, I am behind. Loss will hopefully be done … within a month. Maybe. Let’s say at least before Chapter 5: Symbiosis! ;D (hahaha. orz)

This post is strictly about Sorato. I don’t write about Confession as a whole – if you’d like to read my thoughts on the film, you may do so at this post right here. (Spoiler: The film made me a certified Takeru fangirl. I still don’t know how to feel about that.)

Anyway! On to Sorato. The first “Sorato scene” happens at school in a classroom. (I forgot what Meiko is apologising for, because I don’t care. Hee.)

Meiko: Um … sorry for making you … Taichi: Ah, forget about it. Yamato: *Cold.* No. Don’t make us worry so much. Meiko: My apologies. Sora: *Smiling.* It’s OK! What Yamato really wants to say is he was worried! Taichi: He’s quite conflicted. Mimi: You’re such a tundra*. Yamato: No! You can’t speak Japanese.

(*Note: Mimi is saying “tsundere” wrong. A “tsundere” is someone who acts cold on the outside, but is really caring on the inside.)

I love this scene. It’s very short, but also very satisfying. Sora translating Yamato-speak is probably the most “couple-y” thing yet in tri. (in regards to Sorato). Of course, they’re friends, so Sora knows Yamato well (and the line definitely reflects that) – but the act of it is such a typical couple thing to do. So at least the tri. writers inserted this scene in when given the opportunity. :p

I also love that Mimi basically says what Sora is implying (that Yamato is a “tsundere”), but Yamato doesn’t attack Sora (he’s so nonchalant about her comment, like it doesn’t bother him), but does attack Mimi. Oh, you’re playing favourites, Yamato. ;)

This conversation is also “continued” a little later during the scene about the kids letting the digimon outside (despite the risk of infection). Everyone pretty much wants to let their digimon out, but Yamato was against it at first.

Mimi: Yamato-san, what’ll you do? Nothing, since it’s high risk? Yamato: Gabumon’ll have a grudge if he’s the only one left! Mimi: Right, you say it like you have no choice. Sora: *Teasing.* But you’re actually happy, right? Mimi: You tundra*! (*Tsundere.) Yamato: I said that’s not Japanese!

And Yamato yet again lets Sora’s comment slide, and attacks Mimi yet again. Both girls are teasing him, but he only attacks Mimi. I love it. I love the “joke” between Mimi and Yamato, but I also love how they included Sora to compare and contrast how Yamato acts differently towards the two. It seems so small and insignificant, but I really like this little insight shown into their different dynamics.

Later, Yamato goes and visits Takeru at his place. (Off-Topic: I wish Natsuko had popped in and showed Yamato some affection … I really love Natsuko/Yamato, OK?)

Takeru: What made you turn up? Yamato: Oh … well … Takeru: You fought with Taichi-san again? Yamato: *Defensive, angry.* I didn’t fight with him. Takeru: With Sora-san, then? Yamato: *Incredulous.* Why would I fight with her? Takeru: With Jou-san? Mimi-san? Yamato: Why do you think I must have fought with someone? Takeru: Isn’t that your way?

I love that:

1. Sora is the second name Takeru brings up, which lets you know how close she is to Yamato in relation to the others. (Taichi is of course the first name Takeru brings up because … if Yamato were to argue with anyone, Taichi is definitely his #1 sparring partner, let’s be real.)

2. Yamato’s actual response to being asked if he fought with Sora is said in such an incredulous tone. Like, why in the world would I fight with my girlfriend Sora??? You make no sense, bro.

So much love. ^_^

(I’m sure he does fight with her sometimes though … lol, perfection doesn’t exist, come on.)

This next bit may not seem like Sorato at first glance … but it totally is. It’s also very deliberate, though subtle and easy to miss by casual fans. But when you think about the thought that had to have gone in to it from the staff – to have executed it – you realise it was very deliberate.

The scene(s) I’m talking about is when we get a little collection (almost like a montage) of “moments” between the digimon and their respective Chosen partner as they prepare to see them for the “last” time. They all go to say goodbye to the kids (without the kids knowing that it’s a goodbye).

So, Gabumon goes and visits Yamato and asks him to play his harmonica for obvious nostalgic reasons. Yamato takes out his harmonica and starts playing his second character theme song from the first season, “Run With The Wind #2” (which is the tune he plays on his harmonica all throughout the first season).

The really awesome thing about this part? You continue to hear Yamato play his theme song as the scene goes to Sora and Piyomon having their “moment”. Sora and Piyomon have this conversation:

Piyomon: Hey … Sora. What’s your dream for the future? Sora: Why the sudden question? Piyomon: I suddenly wanted to ask! Sora: I’m too occupied with things now to think about the future. Like, worrying about Koushirou-kun’s health. Piyomon: I want to hear about you! Sora: *Blushing.* Oh, I’ll pass. Talking about the future at this age? Piyomon: Talk about it! Sora: *Still blushing.* Hmm, should I talk about it? Piyomon: Yeah! Sora: Actually, I’ll pass. Piyomon: Jeez! (Scene goes to Gomamon and Jou.) Gomamon: You want to introduce your girlfriend? Jou: Yeah! You’re my partner. (Yamato’s theme song stops playing.)

Throughout Sora and Piyomon’s entire “goodbye” scene, Yamato is still playing his theme song. Another song entirely plays in the background for the other kids as the scene changes from Sora/Piyomon to Jou/Gomamon, Hikari/Tailmon, Mimi/Palmon, Taichi/Agumon and Takeru/Patamon. If that’s not enough, this is why it’s obviously deliberate:

1. It’s a throwback to the end of Episode 26 (Sora’s Crest of Love episode and the START OF THE SORATO FORESHADOWING), where Yamato plays this tune on his harmonica with Sora shown in the background in the same shot (which is immediately after Sora is shown in a shot with all the other kids except Yamato – which serves to single out the shot with just her and Yamato even more). You know, that Sorato shot. If you’re a Sorato fan and you’re reading this, you know exactly what I’m talking about. ;)

(Loss cements that this was a deliberate throwback – because there were so many throwbacks in the fourth film, I almost felt like they ran out of original ideas, what with the amount of times they hit us in the face with nostalgia, lol.)

2. The topic of the conversation Sora and Piyomon are having is about her future. Now, in their actual conversation, you don’t know specifically what Sora is thinking about or holding back on – but the scene still definitely implies her future with Yamato (especially as she’s blushing for an undisclosed reason). This is definitely deliberate because tri. KNOWS that YOU know Sora’s future – that she ends up with Yamato in the 02 epilogue.

So when you add it all up with the fact that Yamato’s theme only plays for himself and Sora (and not the others), and the fact that the 02 epilogue is the endgame with a Sorato marriage … come on, connect the dots. What’s more, Yamato’s theme song actually stops a few seconds into the Jou/Gomamon scene, right after Gomamon and Jou’s respective opening lines: “You want to introduce your girlfriend?” & “Yeah! You’re my partner.”

Yes, Jou and Gomamon have nothing to do with Sorato – but man, the girlfriend and partner lines. They’re essentially implying that Sora will be Yamato’s future girlfriend (and each other’s partners). Which, again, is something that we already know – and that’s why it works!

And thus tri. just used music as a foreshadowing device … OK tri., I am impressed. Well done. I didn’t expect this from you. But then, you pretty much blew my expectations with Confession on a whole. (The tri. films definitely peaked with Confession in my opinion – by a long shot, too. I wish the other three had been at its calibre.)

It’s at least a *wink wink* from tri.!

(Think about it. Why did Yamato’s character theme song NOT stop playing after his scene? Why was Sora’s scene – and not one of the other kids’ – even NEXT after Yamato’s? Why did Yamato’s theme stop playing shortly after Sora’s scene ended – after Gomamon’s “girlfriend” line and Jou’s “partner” line? Why didn’t the other kids get Yamato’s theme over their scenes as well? That’s a lot of thought put into something so small. Thanks, tri..)

Later on, we have the moment where – after the Digital World is rebooted – all the kids randomly get the “sense” to meet up. And then decide to go to the Digital World. (I still think that was weird, but whatevs. Confession succeeded on so many levels that I can forgive its few faults, unlike with the other tri. films …)

Well, when the kids all meet up, they all seem to be in “pairs”; Taichi and Hikari show up together, as do Jou and Mimi, Takeru and Koushirou – and Sora and Yamato.

Now. Taichi and Hikari were shown to be together. Were Jou and Mimi hanging out? I guess they could be. It’s also been established that Takeru and Koushirou hang out a lot. So it’s at least implied that Sora and Yamato were hanging out together prior to meeting up “randomly” with the others. (I wouldn’t call it a date though … because “high school is complicated” lmfao.)

I liked it – especially since Sora and Yamato looked super cute running together. :p (And yes, I think running together to the meeting and thus showing up together was very deliberate – there are so many blink-and-miss scenes of Takari touching for fanservice, that even little insignificant things are done deliberately.)

Then when they’re about to go to the Digital World, we have this awesome scene where Sora hesitates:

Mimi: What’s wrong? Sora: It’s a bit scary … Jou: I’ve been thinking about this since Gomamon disappeared. That I should work hard so he can’t laugh at me next time I see him. It’s all right. Yamato: *Approaches Sora and places a hand on her shoulder in comfort/support.*

MY SORATO HEART. <3

I want to correct something that some fans have attributed to Yamato. “It’s all right” is said by Jou, and not Yamato. Their voices are completely different! Jou sounds like an old man! Yamato sounds like a hottie! (lol.) HOW CAN YOU MISTAKE THEM? (Well, I know how; the scene shows Yamato when Jou’s voice is heard. Easy mistake.) But Yamato doesn’t say anything when he places his hand on Sora’s shoulder; you are still hearing Jou talking. Yamato doesn’t need words, fools. He has the power of A HAND.

(I’m joking.)

lol. Seriously though, it wasn’t Yamato. It was Jou. And I faintly thought that the scene could’ve been a very mild throwback to the Dark Cave scene, because it was Yamato and Jou who helped Sora back from her darkness in the first season. Now that Loss has come out, literally filled to the brim with nostalgic throwbacks? Yep, I definitely think it was a small throwback to the Dark Cave scene to have Yamato and Jou supporting Sora here. Pretty neat.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that Yamato was being openly affectionate towards Sora in front of others in public? This is the guy who is usually “cold” in appearance and would rather not show any form of affection in public. And he did it for Sora in front of the others! He knew he had an audience and did it anyway (you can feel the “spotlight” on the moment too, which Yamato would’ve been aware of). ;D

(You have to ignore the fact that Yamato had his arms around Sora on at least three different instances in 02 though – but tri.!Yamato never touched Sora up to this point, hence the significance of it. :D)

Also, the fact that Yamato can comfort Sora with just a touch (and no words) pleases me greatly. I love the look of surprise on her face when he touches her. Yamato, you touch me in public, bae? :D (LOL.)

I just loved the scene a lot, even though it was so brief. It gave you another glimpse into their friendship/relationship. I think I read (ages ago, when the movie first came out, lol) someone trying to say “It’s just friendship” … well, yes, of course? Most shipping is just friendship. The difference between all the “shipping” scenes in tri. is that Sorato actually end up together. So all the Koumi, Takari, Taito, etc. scenes? They don’t foreshadow anything (in regards to a romantic relationship happening).

But the Sorato scenes actually do.

Why? Well, simply because of the fact that Sora and Yamato end up together. Everything between them thus goes towards building their endgame relationship. You can’t say the same for the other ships, simply because they’re not endgame. Takari will not happen. Koumi will not happen. It’s all fanservice! (Please don’t respond to me if you think differently regarding the other ships – you’re entitled to your opinion, and I have no interest in debating it with you. ;))

Heck, Sorato might not even “happen” by the end of tri. – but everything that happens between them still counts towards their future romantic relationship, because we know how it all ends up in the 02 epilogue. That’s the difference.

Well, that’s all the Sorato in Confession! (Unless I missed something – in which case, do tell me.) There wasn’t a lot in this chapter (or any of the other chapters, lol), but I still loved and appreciated all of it. I wish we were given more, but hey, what can you do? :p

I have more to say about Sorato and how it’s being handled, where it’s headed, etc. But I’ll save it for the Loss post … which will come soon. XP

Thoughts on “Tokka Vs. The World”:

Remember that one time when Raph adopted a turtle from space after its mother (Tokka) was seemingly killed and we all were like “well, at least Raph gets a happy ending?” ...Remember that one time months later when it turns out that Tokka survived and came to earth to get her baby back? We’re rolling back into things with a huge opening in our final stretch to the end of season three. When a monster from their past threatens to destroy their whole world, the turtles must team up with Chompy to save the earth from Tokka’s wrath. Will they succeed? Probably, but let’s see!  This post is so ALIVE with spoilers, so if you want to avoid them from burning you up, don’t keep reading.  If you haven’t seen this comeback episode, now would be a great time to click here and watch it!

There’s some kind of pun to be found here along the lines of, “you can take the baby turtle out of space but you can’t take the space out of the baby turtle without its mother coming to absolutely murder you...” I’m sure it’ll come to me at some point in writing this, and I’ll let you guys know when I got it.  Interesting things:       - “Hey guys, remember how we gave Raph a space pet and never did anything with him ever again? I’M NOT OKAY WITH THAT.       - Raph and Bishop’s “fight” was just added to the list of things this series didn’t need.      - Not to be a downer but those pilots just exploded.       - So after ALL THAT TALK AND ALMOST FIGHTING, Bishop just lets them go. REALLY.       - THOSE TWO SOLDIERS JUST STOOD THERE WHILE BISHOP TOOK OUT THE FIRST ONE AND THEN DID NOTHING TO DEFEND THEMSELVES AGAINST HIM.       - Casey is the best thing about this episode.       - Pretty sure Tokka just set New York City on fire.       - “YAAAAAAAS Mom YAAAAAASSSSSSS.” - Chompy, probably.       - People are definitely dying in New York City right now. Tokka and the EPF are literally killing thousands of people.       - Leo, please don’t fall back into your self-missions-of-definite-suicides again. That’s been our trope in season four and it hasn’t worked out.       - I love watching Leo fight. Even though I told him not to do this last bullet point...he’s always choreographed so well and I love itttt.      - Raph’s sense of balance is impossibly amazing.       - Donnie is the only one who’s logically looking at any of this begging for Tokka not to eat them.      - Can Tokka even understand Raph? Or hear him for the matter???      - As a person who is almost constantly way too emotionally invested in this series, I gotta say, I am not moved by this episode at all...especially this scene with Raph talking to Tokka and saying goodbye to Chompy. Sorry not sorry I guess.       - YOU’VE. GOT. TO. BE. KIDDING. ME.       - I AM SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW WITH THIS “RESOLUTION” THAT IT’S NOT EVEN FUNNY.       - Casey can add “tasering a general” to his rap sheet.       - That was the best high three of the series.       - Tokka launching and flying away is still as stupid as it was the first time we saw it.       - Leo cheering for his brother from the sidelines gave me feels.       - Chompy will leave earth some day confirmed. Not through the duration of this series, though.  Well...I guess I have to do breakdowns? There’s really not much serious depth to this episode. Not any that affects the overall plot, anyway. But the best thing about this episode is Casey. ...I know, I thought I’d never get to say that in a review, either. But seriously! This is the first episode where I was consistently rooting for Casey the entire time. Seeing him do so many things right for once was so great. What wasn’t great was that even the writers point out the dialogue that Casey has never been this useful before. And it’s frustrating because we know Casey is capable of great things if he’s given the chance to be! From the first moment we see him when he points out he’s concerned, to the awesome ideas he has, to the fighting he does, he’s solid from start to finish in this episode and I genuinely hope this is a turning point for his character. Here’s to hoping we get more of this Casey and less of “beginning of season four Casey.” Another thing I wanted to point out that happened in this episode was Casey pointing out Mikey is his sidekick. Mikey. Not Raph. I’ve definitely complained about it before, but Casey and Raph have always had a bromance in TMNT. I haven’t seen it nearly enough in this series yet, and it’s been bothering me. When Casey first met Raph, we were instantly given the promise that they were going to be bros, and there haven’t been enough episodes showing us their friendship in depth like other incarnations have shown us. This episode feels like it teased us with the things Casey should and can be, and I hope like hell we’ll get a Raph-Casey episode soon.  Bishop just randomly popping up was great, because I’ve missed seeing him. Bishop randomly popping up as ambassador to earth was kind of weird. I mean, how could we have not gotten any forewarning about that? I would assume he’d contact the turtles about it, especially seeing as they fought together and he (along with the other Utroms) had entrusted them with the Black Hole Generator pieces. Him popping up and being so relevant kind of fit the theme of this whole episode, which was... SHOVING IRRELEVANT THINGS DOWN OUR THROATS! These are my final thoughts: this episode is basically pointless. Or at least, I feel like everything in this episode is pointless. I mean, considering I’ve been waiting so long for new episodes to come back, on top of the fact that we are literally closing in on what has promised to be an INCREDIBLE finale episode, seeing this episode that in no way enhances the plot was a bit frustrating. 2012 has done fillers before, but there’s always one or two moments in those fillers that play a huge role in the main story. This episode has nothing; it reminds us that Raph had a turtle, tries to put us through some moments that end up not mattering at all. Seriously, you expect me to believe that giant space turtle flew all the way to earth and just decided NOT to take her baby back because it seemed attached to Raph? I can’t deal. And like I said; we’re so close to the finale. I want to see us building towards that. Not wasting time on a pointless filler. I mean I didn’t hate the episode, but I hated that it gave me nothing to prepare me for the next step in our story. So honestly, I gotta give this one a 6/10, and that’s me being nice.  So now that we’ve gotten this little one-shot out of the way...The Tale of Tiger Claw is coming up next. We’re finally going to get to look at the back story of one of our biggest enemies. So that’s exciting.  But, before we’re meeting Alopex and talking TC, let’s talk about Tokka.
