The foyer of Daniel’s rented New York home has a lovely black and white lacquer that Max is dripping all over now. He’s distantly aware that maybe he’s still sticky from the wet of the champagne they sprayed on him on the podium, in the garage, on the plane. It’s a blur. All he truly remembers is the rain, the car underneath him, winning winning winning. 

Daniel’s staring at him. Wide eyed. He’s in a gigantic blue hoodie Max does not remember him wearing, soft and sleepy in his shorts that show off his tattoos. His feet are tucked into fuzzy socks. Daniel’s always so cold. Max wants him so badly it hurts. 

“Max?”

“I won,” Max breathes out. He steps further into the foyer, closer to where Daniel is smiling at him. 

“I heard,” Daniel says, whispers. The house is quiet. Max does not know why he’s whispering. Daniel’s always loud, filling up all the space in Max’s brain, even when he’s in the car fighting every fucker on the track. “Congratulations. I thought you would be in Monaco by now.”

“I wanted to see you.” He hasn’t seen Daniel in a month. Daniel has spoken more words to him in this short moment than in the past month. “Daniel, I won. You - you told me. if I won. You. You would.”

Daniel looks good. His curls are wild but his eyes look rested. Less sunken in and desperate. Like the last time he had seen him. Like the last time when he avoided him and let Lando handle the goodbyes instead. 

“Max, why are you here?” Max is here because Max wants to be here.

He can’t answer. He just walks to Daniel, pushes him up against the wall, Daniel’s legs spreading like his body knows Max belongs there, that this is it, that the softness of Daniel’s mouth on his is what Max was hurtling towards all along, all those years ago. Daniel’s moaning, kissing him back, biting, his hands grabbing at his shoulders, pulling him in.

Max grabs at his thigh, he’s going to lick those tattoos the minute he gets Daniel on a bed, but for now, this is perfect, hitching his leg around Max’s waist. Max grabs at his ass, squeezing as Daniel keens, ripping his mouth away from him, letting Max mouth down his neck. His lovely lovely neck. Max wants to bite, wants to rip this hoodie off and tuck himself into Daniel, into Danie’s ribcage. 

Max wiggles a hand down Daniel’s shorts. He’s not wearing any underwear. He reaches his hole.  Daniel is. Daniel’s wet. 

Max’s dick jerks, painting precome into his boxers. His heart is beating, making a racket. He pulls back to stare at Daniel. Daniel’s not looking at him. 

There’s footsteps, thundering and coming down the stairs. Daniel pushes him away. Max’s hands miss Daniel terribly. 

“Daniel, where did you – oh. Max. Hello.”

Josh Allen stands at the doorway. Max stares. Something is breaking. Max wonders if it’s his heart. Daniel still won’t look at him. 

“Hello Josh,” Max says. Daniel moves away. Daniel leaves him standing there. “I didn’t know you were here.”

“Oh,” Josh says. He’s big enough to completely hide Daniel when he moves behind him. Max thinks he might cry. Him, not Daniel. Daniel does look at him. “We were celebrating. The big win.”

“Yes,” Max says. He needs to leave. “The win. Congratulations.”

“Are you in town? Wait, did you and Daniel have plans? We were just –”

“No,” Daniel says. He’s still hidden behind Josh. “Max was just leaving. Had something to drop off.”

“Yes,” Max says. He feels like he’s seeing this all play out. Daniel stepping away. Cold where Daniel was just so warm. His body is here but he feels detached. “I was just leaving. Good to see you, mate. Good luck for the rest of the season.”

“Goodbye, Max.” He thinks he hears Daniel say. He steps out into the cold. The door closes behind him with finality. Max does not cry.

i cant stop thinking about narumina. narumi, 19, bluntly telling mina that she's going to get her comrades on the field killed if she keeps hesitating. what is there to be scared of? just pull the damn trigger!

mina, 19, having bottled her emotions (anger, sadness, loneliness, fear) for a solid year after being told she is the game changer of the force and carries a burden that narumi couldn't possibly understand - grabs him by the collar of his uniform and explodes. tells him maybe he should stop to think a bit more when he's on the battlefield because his selfishness will get everyone killed too!

"learn to rely on your comrades more!"

"i could say the same right back at you, ashiro!"

they butt heads, they are at each other's throats, seething. mina hasn't let herself be this angry at another person in so long, especially someone in the defence force (choosing to keep it pent up. choosing to wait for it to disappear. but it laid dormant.) she grits her teeth and tells narumi he'll never understand. because he's never had to consider the lives of his unit. because he doesn't consider them.

"what the hell do you know about me? you're just a coward."

"shut up!" she screams at him, throwing him against the wall and he does the same.

they wrangle with each other like little kids but neither of them throw the first punch. just shout profanities at each other (narumi is almost impressed, thinking she wasn't the swearing type) before calling out each other's flaws. how they will never be a decent captain if they keep this up.

"stop doubting your comrades!"

"you stop doubting them! you don't trust them so you go off on your own and leave hasegawa-san to clean up after you!"

"maybe you should learn to be a little selfish! don't talk to me about trust when you don't even believe your comrades can fend off kaiju before you make your move. maybe if you had faith in them you wouldn't be so afraid."

"i'm not."

"you are."

she has him pinned under him, fists still bunched around his uniform collar when she tries to reiterate that she's not scared but her voice cracks and narumi sighs

"if you weren't, you wouldn't be making that face, ashiro."

but she's so tired of pretending. and it's annoying, frustrating to hear narumi hit home.

"i know what it's like to be abandoned, so i don't trust people to be there for me. gotta protect myself. no one else will." he sighs again, hating that he's even telling ashiro this.

in the end they're both the same - refusing to see the comrades that stand with and behind them. mina doesn't face them because she thinks it's her duty to protect them. narumi doesn't see them because he doesn't believe there'll be people to protect him.

they both think they stand at the top alone....

I hate today

It was the intern’s last day today and I wanted to give him a book I recommended because he seemed very interested in it and I wanted to be nice, like I swear everyone hates him just because and they always crack “jokes” or whatnot about his learning disability. I think I was the only person who genuinely liked him. So I went out and bought it and planned on sneaking it into his locker or hope he comes into the break room so I can give it to him.

Well, I didn’t get to give it to him because I was sent home early (there was nothing to do), I couldn’t figure out which locker was his, and he was gone on a job. So I gave it to my manager and asked her to give it to him.

I didn’t even get to say goodbye to him, and now I just feel like a loser who always gets their hopes up. Like, I genuinely liked him and was excited to finally meet someone who had so many of the same interests has me and maybe finally make a new irl friend. I gave him my ps4 username and he said he will add me, and I even brought it up that if he didn’t want to be my friend I’m ok with it but he said he did.

I just feel so fucking stupid for thinking anyone can like me anymore and I give up i give up i give up i fucking hate it here why am i so fucking gullible he probably wasn’t even interested in the book he just wanted me to shut up why am i like this why was i born like think why does no one like me why cant i make friends why cant i just be likable

Recently, I went to a coffee shop and got trapped in a conversation with some Christians who wanted to convert me. One was giving me the shpiel about how we was in the belly of the beast before he found Jesus, how he tried Buddhism, Hinduism, etc., before turning to the light.

I had made it very clear that I was Jewish and uninterested, so when he said this, I made a joke, "so you tried all those religions and never turned to us, huh?" But instead of laughing at my (hilarious) joke, he said, "well, in a way, I did because Judaism and Christianity are just..." And that was the point where I stopped putting up with it and left.

It's bad enough to continue the centuries-old tradition of using Christianity to try and erase Jewish culture. But don't continue that while pretending they're one in the same. How are Judaism and Christianity buddy buddy when my being Jewish makes you want to make not Jewish?

If you're trying to unpack and heal from Christian religious trauma, a thing you really need to understand (if you don't already) is that you were probably misled about Judaism a lot. Christianity generally tries to paint itself as the self-evident successor of Judaism, and one of the ways it does this is by painting Judaism as Christianity Without Jesus.

In reality, Judaism is practiced very differently from Christianity, and Jews have a very different relationship to their Bible than Christians have to theirs. Just about everything you'll hear about Judaism from Christians is total hogwash - literally, it's Christian propaganda. Christianity as most of us know it was shaped by the Roman Empire's political agendas, and that's a huge reason why it's the way it is.

sorry for the LONG rant but i think it’s so dumb that the hissfits three-pack are online exclusives ?? like HUH ?? overall i’m tired of the exclusives but this one got me most annoyed. i’m not gonna buy them (although i really dig purrsephone’s doll) but i am annoyed for the people who do want them and have no access to them (mainly international fans and fans who can’t dump $75+ on a pack of dolls)

i know about the rumors that apparently they were a walmart exclusive but got dropped and no major retailers wanna carry many toys if they feel it won’t sell and shelf space since it’s a big pack but it’s so weird to me mattel resorted for online exclusives, even more so since they chose entertainment earth and big bad toy store

i get they do sell toys… but they seem more action figure based ?? fashion dolls just feels weirdly out of place for them but that’s just my opinion

i also think it’s dumb no one can check out what these dolls look like in person prior to purchasing. stock photos don’t always do them justice (core drac. her face in the stock photo is… something but irl she looks cute). also the kids. they’re the target audience for these dolls and some may never even know the twins got a proper core release ?? i mean maybe they do know since kids do seem to have unrestricted access online but how the hell are parents who aren’t into these things suppose to know ?? but overall kids aren’t always browsing for doll leaks and stuff like that. shit, they probably don’t even know leaks happen lmao

idk. i just think it’s weird to do it this way and if retailers didn’t wanna carry this pack cuz of shelf space, why didn’t they go with amazon?? at least they carry all kinds of items and gives more people better access and more chances for them to go on sale vs EE and BBTS where it feels HEAVY on the FOMO cuz once they sell out, that’s probably it. right now mattel is labeling them as “pre-orders” which gives the impression they’ll be limited to a first come first serve basis. i hope i’m wrong in case anyone wants them and can’t order right now but this is THE MESSIEST release to date and it’s so stupid

going back to the main point, if no retailer wanted them, why didn’t mattel backtrack and thought maybe doll packs just don’t sell as well as they used to ?? they should’ve just separated the twins from toralei as two separate releases imo. this pack is even more dumb cuz it’s literally monster ball toralei and that line is slowly being phased out now so wtfudge mattel. why release her an entire year later ?? that toralei would’ve made a good two-pack with amped up frankie since both doll themes are performing during the dance

i’m just tired of all these exclusives. i get certain in person store exclusives the way ghoulia is for target and toralei for walmart, but not for core dolls. deuce being an amazon exclusive was so dumb imo. he’s a basic release doll. nothing about these dolls scream “exclusive” so what gives ?? (shit maybe that’s why walmart dropped the hissfits. it came to a point where toralei was getting severely discounted and they don’t wanna do that again, but that’s just a theory)

i hope eventually the hissfits pack hits international shelves or at the very least, they start popping up everywhere in discount stores like ross and burlington so everyone can have access to them, but for a better price. i hope this is the case

I’m thinking about Wicked tonight, specifically why Elphaba ends up with Fiyero instead of Glinda in the musical despite Elphaba and Glinda having the more well-rounded relationship.

You could chalk it up to the writers wanting a heteronormative ending (and I’m certain that’s part of it) or the fact that Elphaba and Fiyero had a love affair in the book. But I think there’s a bit more nuance to it.

The whole point of Glinda’s character is that she upholds the status quo of Oz. No matter how much she loves Elphaba or sympathizes with the plight of the Animals, she will always align herself with the current system and those in power. And as long as that remains the case, a relationship between her and Elphaba is futile because Elphaba will not give up her cause.

Elphaba and Glinda represent to different ends of a spectrum. Elphaba resists the oppressive forces in Oz, while Glinda upholds them. But Fiyero is somewhere in the middle. He starts out privileged and carefree like Glinda, but quickly turns to Elphaba’s side. He does become Captain of the Guard, but only to find Elphaba and help her evade arrest.

And therein lies the difference between Glinda and Fiyero as love interests to Elphaba. Glinda would never sacrifice her title as “the Good Witch” and all her power granted from the Wizard, even if it meant helping Elphaba. Fiyero, on the other hand, does give up his privilege, his title, and even his human form for Elphaba. Glinda clings to what the status quo gives her, while Fiyero ultimately rejects it.

Yes, the writing around Elphaba and Fiyero’s romance is a bit rushed and doesn’t have the same gradual development that Elphaba and Glinda have. And yes, I have no doubt heteronormativity played a role in giving Elphaba a male love interest in the end. But I see a lot of people write off Fiyero and his relationship with Elphaba and I just don’t agree.

Why does Elphaba end up with Fiyero instead of Glinda? Because Fiyero makes the sacrifices that Glinda wasn’t willing to.
