Hello there! I'm not even sure how to start. So I felt very disappointed by DA:TV, because of various reasons. Not trying to dampen the mood, I am super happy for you if you actually enjoyed the game! If you do not mind, could you list the things you liked/loved about the game? Help me see the "bright side"? Just gush a litte about it, I could use some positive input around my favourite gaming series of all time. :') thank you <3
Absolutely! For me, I think I always figured I was going to like this game, even if it wasn't my fave of all time? Trick Weekes always writes characters/quests that I like, and for me, story/characters come before anything else. I liked Andromeda, flawed as it was. Even if the gameplay was mediocre, I was certain I'd find something I'd like.
But the gameplay wasn't mediocre. It was actually really, really fun. I played Spellblade, and honestly, the gameplay might be a highpoint for me. I don't really like action gameplay, I tolerate it. I loved this, though.
The biggest thing that really sold me is the fact that the big choices in this game are difficult in a way Bioware has been trying to capture since Origins, but I don't think they've ever nailed until now (except maybe in Mass Effect). Even in Origins, when they had big choices like what to do with Connor, or how to deal with the werewolves, there was always a cop out choice. There isn't one in this game, so far as I can see. At the end of EVERY companion quest there was a choice I couldn't choose, something that made me wonder just what would've happened if I'd picked something different, and don't get me started on the endgame. The endgame was brutal :')
I love the characters, too! I do think some of the writing can get a bit campy or be a bit on the nose, I think some subtlety is lacking for certain characters especially in the beginning, but once shit hits the fan just about every companion has their gutwrenching moment. I felt for every single character in this game, during their act 2 personal quest moments. In all the other games there was at least one character I just couldn't care about, but even the ones that I thought wouldn't tickle my fancy snuck up on me. By the end, I loved all of them so much. I only wanted more.
I like Rook, too. I think I can see how their characterization might be disappointing, though. I think the key for me and my friend @sweetmage was finding the right Rook to play. We both had lots of concepts and while I plugged in the right one first, I know they struggled until they found the right one. Rook is kinda like Hawke in the way that they have a bit of personality already and a defined character path, which can get in the way of true RP. Once I stopped fighting it and let Rook be Rook, I liked the game a lot more, and I liked my character a lot more.
Then there's lore. Oh, lore. I have listened to or read every codex. I have a treasure trove of theories I keep locked in my head. All I need is a corkboard and some red string. Getting to see so many of those theories come to fruition? Things they've been teasing since Origins, that I picked up on when I was 12? Absolutely magical! Some of it I think they bungled--there's one reveal I've been waiting for for 15 years that I found in a note, not codex, on a bridge in Minrathous, no fanfare or anything--but the majority of it punched me right in the face with so much force I had to pause the game and do a little pacing. I won't get into specifics for spoiler reasons, but seeing all those little dots connect? seeing when I was right, and when I was wrong? SO euphoric for me!
A lot of the things I didn't like, too, like making the Crows less shitty--so easy to headcanon around, in ways that don't contradict canon! It's one of my favorite things to do, it feels like a puzzle to me, making everything that is for certain and everything I want fit together. That one, for instance, Zevran totally gutted all the shitty Crows, and left only the good ones :)
I will say, it's clear they were trying to wrap things up. I got the sense while playing it felt that they didn't want to leave any loose threads in case this was their last DA game, so that felt a bit rushed. But I loved it. To me it was a love letter, saying goodbye. Wrapping everything up in a nice little bow. I've always struggled to choose a favorite game in the DA series, they all do something I love so differently that I can't pinpoint one singular favorite, and I think this one is right up there for me, tied for 1st place with the other three games. Like DA2 and DAI I think it could've cooked just a little bit longer, there's a lot of potential for it to be a 9/10 game imho if they'd smoothed a couple of things out, but there's a lot in there for me to love.
Thank you so much for the question, I hope the wall of text will help you see a bit of the light haha. I don't mind that people didn't like it--that's just how it goes sometimes, and I think there are a lot of valid criticisms to be had. For me I was just super bummed that it was the only thing I was seeing online. I'm following lots of positivity now, so the occasional disenchantment is not a problem. Idk if it'll work for you, but @sweetmage was similarly disappointed until they streamed it with a friend, and then just having someone there to converse with it on really helped them to enjoy it. I hope you can find something to love in it, too!

Hi, how did you learn to draw Steve's physique?
Ohh what a complicated thing to answer...
When it comes to how I learned to draw anything, it's hard to say anything too specific since it's always a culmination of many years of assorted study and practice... but I can try to do my best to explain some of the biggest things that helped me learn, some tips I keep in mind, and maybe at least some places to start/delve further.
(just a little disclaimer it's not like my drawings here are going to be 100% medically accurate.. they're just to illustrate concepts!)
The main thing about learning various physiques is understanding anatomy. Which feels obvious, but I don't mean proportions; these are important, but perhaps more important is understanding the skeleton and how it moves and learning where muscles connect to bones and where fat grows on the body. When you understand how these function on a more mechanical level, depicting form and movement in a way that feels natural comes in tow.
For instance, understanding things like the pronation and supination of the radius and ulna, as well as the fact that muscles can ONLY contract or relax, will help you understand a bit better which muscles will be flexed and which will not while someone moves. It's inherent to the positioning based on the structural makeup of the body... It's not like you NEED to memorize all the muscles and bones, of course, but understanding and gaining at least a passive familiarity with the concepts really helps.
Tumblr media
In tandem with this concept is the way parts of the body flow into eachother. Muscles ALWAYS come in groups because they can only contract. Whatever muscle is there to lift something, there is a muscle on the other side to pull that bone back down. What this results in is a series of straight edges next to curves, which gives us a lot of really lovely "s curves" and dents and folds and so on and so forth just naturally occurring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would suggest at least learning the "bony landmarks", which are bones (usually) visible on the surface of the body. things like the iliac crest, the great trochanter, the 7th vertabrae, the acromion process... These can be used to help you understand the parts of the body as angles and relationships, rather than trying to remember lengths and sizes, which vary immensely... (since you asked about steve, he can be our model... also study these on your own don't just take my word for it haha, these are the ones I personally keep in mind)
Tumblr media
I've done the same thing with body hair... learning where it grows and in which directions... It helps me make up variations without needing reference, because I have a set of rules I can follow.
The biggest thing that helped me understand all this on a much deeper level was my ecorche course. I sculpted this guy. We started by sculpting the entire skeleton to understand the bones, and then we added muscles on top. Not every single muscle, of course, but the "artistic muscles" AKA the ones which directly affect the surface of the body. Doing this let us see where muscles connect, because we would make a shape, put it on the bone where it actually goes, and then you get to see how other muscles overlap that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This helped me, perhaps, more than anything else. But I also didn't just start with this course, I had been drawing for years before I even took it. I had been in school for years before I took it. Not that I think it wouldn't be helpful to someone just starting out, but I do think that the more you know going in, the better an in-depth course like this will help you and stick with you. Classes are also expensive, though so I'm not really like... recommending you pay potentially thousands of dollars to take one... But it did help me a lot, personally.
I also, of course, have done many figure, gesture, and master studies...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These just help you quickly gain a stronger understanding of generalized anatomy, and gives you real life examples of and practice with of how people move and balance.
What all this does when combined, is gives me a very solid ability to depict movement and form in a way that feels relatively natural from my subconscious without the need for reference.
The rest of how I've learned to draw his physique is honestly mostly just stylization. I understand the body, and this is how I am depicting it for his level of musculature.
Tumblr media
And as I move into depicting him in other ways, either moving in comics or in animation, realistically rendered, or extra stylized, these concepts inform every step of that process for me! When he keeps the same/similar relationships between parts, he gets to still look like himself.
It ALSO really helps when putting clothes on, because the way cloth falls and bunches and lifts is all directly related to the form it is on... So the more you understand that form, the more you can depict clothing and movement in a way that feels natural.
Tumblr media
This is all, of course, true when I draw anyone, you asked about Steve so I'm trying to mostly show with him! But because I'm just drawing from raw information of general anatomy rather than trying to study one body type at a time, it allows a lot more "give," I think!
Tumblr media
Like, here's most of the cast from TTA so far... actually, they're not as varied as I thought they were nevermind LMAO ignore this part
But, it also makes monster and alien design much easier! It's a lot easier to come up with non-human anatomy when I understand human anatomy, because I can manipulate the knowledge I have...
There is infinite more to study in the world of anatomy... The complexity of the human body goes extremely deep. For our purposes as artists, we need only depict a fraction of it, but more information rarely hurts the process.
I'm sure there's something in here that's wrong on a technical level, I'm mostly going off of memory. But that's kind of my point - I understand enough generally and conceptually that when I am missing something and need to find reference for it, I understand what I'm looking at. It's much easier than trying to learn AND draw at the same time.
I hope even one thing in here helped you! Sorry it's so long.
#asks#somewhereinasgard#anatomy#art tips#anatomy tips#don't like... take my word as gospel OF COURSE#I am sure there's like one thing or more in here that's like. genuinely wrong#but whatever#anyways. I love steve LMFAO#I was thinking about zagan a lot too in this one tbh LMAOOOO cause he's got a similar body type#and when I just did that action animation of him#and people were like how the fuck did you do this so fast#I sort of have been realizing all this knowledge I have about anatomy#and how much easier it makes my life pretty much every single step of the way.#those action poses did not need reference.#I almost never need reference for drawing people#unless its like... realism. but I mean in my comics or animations#when the arm is coming towards the camera I know what's going on in the arm and what the form of it ACTUALLY is so I can properly draw it#there's no guesswork. I know what I'm doing.#which makes it so that when I'm depicting someone like flipping all around or whatever#I just know what the body looks like. how it moves. how it balances. etc.#I would say it comes naturally to me but it doesnt.#it is subconscious at this point#but it is very extremely studied#not a damn bit of this came out of nowhere LOL#ok anyways this was a really fun ask#I got extremely carried away I am so sorry#this is like my biggest artistic passion I LOVE anatomy SO much#I love drawing muscles#I love the technical feelings that happens in my brain when I draw an arm moving and figure out how the muscles are engaged

Kylian Mbappé imagine where it’s your first time together as a couple. He just knows you’re the one and almost feels like he’s not good enough for you.
Kylian was very nervous as he sat across from you. It was your first time going out as a couple in public, and the number of paparazzi outside the restaurant wasn’t helping at all. He knew he was acting a bit weird, but he couldn’t get past the old insecurity that he wasn’t good enough for you.
Now, you might be wondering, dear readers, why does the daddiest of all football players feel insecure? Why does the man who won a World Cup at 18 years feel like he’s not good enough? Two words: Serena Blair. (Yeah, I know. I had the same thought. Totally sounds like a pornstar name.)
Now, I don’t want to get into too much about that stanky bitch. Let’s just say that nothing our golden boy did was ever enough. If he bought her a Dior bag, she wanted a Birkin. If he bought her a Cartier bracelet, she wanted a Graff necklace. And so it went, until Tata Fayza intervened and knocked some sense into her boy.
“Kyky, are you okay? You look a bit tense,” the gentle cadence of your voice managed to calm his racing heart. He gave you a shy smile, “Yes, mon amour. I’m fine. I just wanted to apologize to you about the paparazzi.”
"You don't need to apologize for that, babe. It's not like you called them on purpose to be up all in our faces," you replied, trying to calm your jittery boyfriend. Kylian and you met when you slammed into him while playing hide and seek with the children at the Premiers de Cordees association and spilled your vanilla cold brew all over his face and white t-shirt. It was all very dramatic, very much cliché, and of course, it was love at first sight. Sometimes you thought Kylian was a masochist with a very obvious humiliation kink.
The rest was history; you were constantly texting and snapping each other, going on dates incognito so you could stay in your little bubble a little longer. He was the most attentive boyfriend, always making sure that you were comfortable and had everything you needed, despite his busy schedule. He made you feel like a princess, and every day you fell just a little bit harder for this man with the dimpled smile.
Today was a big milestone in your relationship, as you were finally going public with it. For most people, four months probably was too early, but for Kylian Mbappé, who always knew what he wanted, it was nothing. So here you both sat at this fancy restaurant in the middle of Madrid, and your boyfriend was acting as if he was about to be guillotined for starving the French people.
Seeing him so unsure was a rare sight, but you knew why he was so on edge. He told you about his ex one night after he almost had a mental breakdown gifting you the complete set of the MinaLima Edition Harry Potter books. You were in tears because you loved it and he thought you hated it.
"Kylian, what's wrong? You've been acting really off the whole night." Concern laced your voice as you reached for your boyfriend's hand, rubbing circles on the back in an attempt to soothe his anxiety.
"I-I-I'm just really anxious, bébé." he said, his voice strained as he licked his dry lips. Your heart broke seeing your boyfriend like this. I swear to God when I see that bitch it's on sight.
"Why are you anxious, mon coeur?" you inquired softly, your gaze filled with concern as you reached out to touch Kylian's hand.
His eyes flickered with uncertainty, his voice tinged with insecurity as he responded, "I feel like I'm not good enough for you, and you're going to realize that one day and leave me."
"Kylian! Are you out of your mind?" you exclaimed, your tone a mixture of surprise and reassurance. "That's never going to happen. I love you so much, baby. How could you ever think that?"
A heavy sigh escaped Kylian's lips as he continued, his words weighted with the burden of his fame, "Look at my life! I can't even go to a restaurant without being followed by cameras. Every move I make needs to be planned in advance. I can't be spontaneous with you because everything is a security risk."
Your heart ached at his admission, understanding the weight he carried on his shoulders. "You wanna know something, Kyky?" you said softly, your voice filled with sincerity. "Even if you lived in a dingy apartment with fleas and rats, and the only thing we could afford for a date was soggy fries and mayo, I would still be with you because you're the most amazing man I've ever met. I've never felt like this for anyone and-"
"Not even Jungkook?" Kylian interjected, a playful glint in his eye despite his lingering worries.
You chuckled softly, shaking your head. "Ok, woah. Calm down, let's not exaggerate," you teased, trying to lighten the mood.
"Bébé!" Kylian exclaimed, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"I'm messing with you, Ky," you grinned back at him. "But the point is, I love you for you and all the little things that you do for me. And nothing in this world is going to change that. So please, relax mon coeur and let's enjoy the night?"
"I love you too, mon amour," Kylian murmured, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thanks for being there for me, and I'm sorry for-"
"If you don't stop apologizing, I'm going to flash my tits to the paps," you quipped, a mischievous glint in your eye.
"Bébé, what the fuck?" Kylian sputtered, his big, dark brown eyes widening in a mix of shock and amusement.
"Exactly," you replied with a grin. "Now give me a kiss."

A/N: Okay, so maybe I got a tad carried away with this fic, not gonna lie 😅 But hey, I hope you enjoyed it, my lovely anon, because I had an absolute blast writing it.

So sorry this has taken me forever to answer
Ok so Shockwave does in someways see his assistant bot as a pet, not in too much of a degrading fashion but more of a ‘this is mine’ kind of way. He prefers to be the one to handle their maintenance and for them to with him for as much of their day as possible, that sort of thing. He likes them attentive and obedient
He enjoys having a pet that knows tricks, things like knowing the exact ways to move their callipers, being able to swallow his spike in one go, and holding off their overload until Shockwaves done being spiked. Usually he’ll start his sessions with his assistant by ordering them to put their collar on (he gets a power trip out of them doing it themself, he’s got a thing for eagerness) and to get into which ever position he’s picked for that day.
He’s a lot more generous with praise when he’s doing pet play, he likes calling his assistant pet so it comes out just a little bit more affectionate than his usual tone, and he’ll usually reward good work
Shockwaves slight oral fixation also tends to come into play when engaging in pet play, he like having his little assistant chew on things whilst he holds their jaw just so he can feel how it moves or have them beg with their mouth open whilst he feels along their tongue
