Everyone has something to say

So I joined a sorority in spring 2017. I went through the whole process and became a sister. I joined because I wanted to prove to myself that I could start something and finish it. I did that. I also wanted friends. Since being in the sorority I never felt like I belonged In it. Yeah sure we all say we join to be something bigger then us but I felt like the sorority made me feel smaller and lonelier and just stressed out and depressed. Yeah I had happy moments. But not enough to say I loved being apart of the sorority. I held several positions and my last one being president. Now you see I was president this term and it was a great experience but since I’m about to be a senior in college I decided, and this wasn’t an easy decision, I decided to do something for myself. I decided for my senior year of college i was going to follow my passions and my dreams and go after my goals. So a few days ago I dropped the sorority. And I explained my reasoning and everything was like okay. But it was the after effects of making this decision that I realised people are never going to be happy with whatever decision I make. And I hate that people make me feel like shit for wanting to do something for myself. I hate that people don’t understand. It’s my senior year of college and i want to experience other things.

BID DAY

The day everyone is excited for! The PMMs can't wait to have fun with the sorority. The current members are happy to finally relax and have some fun!

Bid Day is all about celebrating your acceptance into this new chapter. It's a fun time filled with photos, glitter, and sisterhood.

It also marks the end of recruitment. You've had this stressful week all leading up to this. My warning though is to remember that hazing is illegal!!!!!

There was a chapter on my campus who had girls doing shots of vodka which is very much NOT allowed. If this happens to you I would really encourage you to say something. Hazing can be very harmful and is not a good way to build a bond. A sisterhood build off fear is not as strong as a sisterhood of love and communication. If there is something you want to do don't do it. Peer pressure and wanting to fit in can be a bitch but it's not good ladies.

When I went through recruitment the one thing I said was " if I get hazed, I'm dropping". I am very thankful to have ended up in a place where we take hazing very seriously.

Warnings aside.... really just have a good time. Have fun, take photos and enjoy this time!!
