a welcome distraction

after pulling an all-nighter and not getting anywhere with her new song, ebba was grateful for the much needed encouragement and distraction.

Onyx thinking he had been challenged to a battle by Dot in HZ058 reminded me of Sango who wrote a letter of challenge to Liko and Roy in HZ043 and the whole thing turning into a battle back then too.

It's fun because you'd think Onyx is more serious and cautious than Sango in public and he is for the most part but he is kind of like her in that way too (she challenges people to a battle, and he misinterprets situations as being challenged to a battle). Kind of shows that they keep each other in check, to me. Onyx helps ground Sango and she always feels much calmer around him and less prone to getting angry. We got to see them both in casual settings in chapter 3, and Sango just feels all around calm in these scenes (for example in HZ050 when they were spying on the trio, she wasn't standing out in an odd way). Meanwhile, the two times she made a fuss in public when she couldn't get her cakes in HZ043 and HZ047, he wasn't with her. Maybe the outcome would have been a bit different had he been with her.

For Onyx, I still need to see a bit more how he is by himself (like how he got solo scenes in HZ058 and different sides of his personality shone through there), but it feels like Sango being the way she is kind of grounds him too but in another way? As in, he is more careful of his surroundings when he is with her and feels responsible because she tends to be reckless. Which is interesting overall, because individually they have the potential to be unhinged to some extent (at least Sango more than Onyx, we need to see more of Onyx individually to pinpoint how he acts in other situations), but when put together, they carefully balance each other out.

So. B and A getting super high together. B has an insanely high tolerance and A only smokes maybe once or twice a semester, if studying allows. A has a Horrible high and is super on edge and anxious, but B makes them feel really safe so they're not completely bugging out. B is just vibin' and having fun, but also being a bit of a Shit Disturber. Keeps bringing up creepypastas and A ends up sitting snuggled up super close to B on the couch with their arm around B's. A being all "heyy this is getting really scary :(" and B being like "haha, oh I'm so sorry~. We can talk about something else..." and A getting relaxed and :). But then B interjects: " So yeah... you know The Bathroom Head?" and A shoves him and is all ">:((!!!! LISTEN!!! ITS SO SCARY, OKAY!! I HATE YOU!!!" They're both laughing and it's very soft and intimate, but in a very queer found family kinda way.
