mingyu + refilling your water bottle;

“ugh, i hate this”, you mumble, before jumping into another meeting with your team.

“busy day?”, mingyu asks, a sympathetic smile on his lips.

you only nod, taking a deep breath and trying to compose yourself before turning the camera and the mic on.

“don't work too hard, you're not even paid that much to begin with.”

“i'm sorry, not everybody can get a millionaire salary”, you raise your brow at him.

“i could do it for both of us, if you'd let me”, mingyu kisses your cheek, walking out of the room to let you have some privacy.

you don't notice though, how he takes your water bottle with him. in fact, through the whole day - between meetings, a rushed lunch, and a few pecks here and there from mingyu -, you don't notice many things at all.

when you log off from work, your fingers wrapped around your bottle, you take a sip from the water and frown when you realize the weight of it.

“shit, did i not drink water today?”, you say out loud. “i could have swear i drank it.”

“you did”, mingyu says, scrolling through his phone. “you drank three whole bottles.”

“then how come it's still full?”

he laughs, shooting you a look. “because your super boyfriend kept refilling it for you. you were so busy, you didn't even notice it, did you?”

you should smile. you should thank him for being amazing, for taking care of you, for wasting his day off staying at home with you even though you were packed with work. but instead, you pout.

in a few seconds, you're wrapped around mingyu, laying your head on his chest.

“i'm sorry for today”, you whisper. “do you wanna go out for dinner? maybe hit the gym, go play some basketball? anything, i'm all yours right now.”

he chuckles, holding you tight.

“it's okay”, mingyu kisses the top of your head. “i already cooked dinner too.”

“oh my god, what are you?”, you look up at him.

“i told you”, and he laughs again. “i'm a super boyfriend.”

and he is, indeed.

I think there is something so beautiful, so innocent and sweet about spotting or discovering that f/o or comfort character. Looking into them and having that warmth grow within you, where you just know they're gonna mean something so significant, they're going to hold so much importance.

I feel like we get so caught up in cringe culture, we get so wrapped up in how "embarrassed" we're "supposed" to feel.

But I don't think selfshipping is embarrassing. I think that finding a character that makes you feel so comforted, finding happiness and appreciation in that connection you'd share with them is genuinely so heartwarming. And I feel like that isn't talked about enough.

If you selfship, if you have comfort characters or f/os, you're not embarrassing. You're not any of the mean, shameful things other try to make you feel. You're a person who is passionate and full of love for that passion, and that's okay. You're valid and you deserve that peace.

it’s wild to me that like every modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes (and by modern I mean “made recently” not “set in modern times”) is like Hell Bent on coming up with a Reason™️ that Watson stays with Holmes and trots around with him on adventures all the time despite the inconvenience and the danger and all, and so it’s like “oh, Watson’s a gambling addict, he loves uncertainty and mystery” or “oh, Watson’s an adrenaline junkie, he gets off on being constantly in danger from criminals” or even like “Watson’s atoning for sins of the past of BEING IN THE WAR by solving crimes with Holmes now” or WHATEVER. And it’s like, girl, maybe he’s just in love! Did you think of that?? Maybe he’s got a crush and it’s making him do stupid things. Maybe he’s just got bad taste and his type is guys who don’t know how to refold newspapers properly but can identify different types of cigar ash by sight, smell, and taste. And wrote a monograph on the subject. Maybe he’s down bad is all. I mean, Keep is simple, stupid!!!
