Oh,can I give my hot take since we're discussing the MK1 girls? Honestly, a solid quarter to a third of the roster could have been DLC, considering how little they do or contribute to the story. Reiko? DLC. Nitara? Package her with a couple Jennifer's Body skins and you have a Halloween DLC for the girlies. Havik? DLC. Kronika is literally just there to chat shit.

Also,there's certain storylines that if they really explored them, could get uncomfortable real quick. Nitara's tower ending comes to mind, considering that it pretty much implies that she becomes a human trafficker outright,which........honestly could lead to some interesting moral questions for her if handled correctly. But I don't trust NRS to do that. Ashrah's another one that they have to tread real light with.

Yeah tbh a few people in the cast kinda aren't doing much, but I low-key do get the vibe that NRS has a lot of love for the Deadly Alliance era characters, which is why we're seeing a bunch of them in MK1. I don't know if I think they should've been DLC bc we don't know what the DLC schedule for MK1 looks like but Sonya should've been in the main cast at launch. That was a huge miss.

Tbh, I don't see Nitara getting expanded on sadly due to the poor reception of her character, but Ashrah might--given her connection to Sareena and Syzoth, and that she essentially got upgraded to a champion of Earthrealm. I doubt they'll handle any continuation of her story with any nuance; given Johnny says that Sareena is Bi-Han's future bestie, and Ashrah expresses worry that Sareena is turning back to darkness, and that Bi-Han is redeemable, what they are probably going to do is have Ashrah and Sareena play a role in redeeming Bi-Han and stopping the Cyber initiative, and Sareena being 'purified' through the same means as Ashrah. Which is boring, but they're going for black and white and I don't see that changing course. But I'd be happy to be wrong and see them make use of the potential they have.

Just in case some of you are wondering "how" well - I made some instructions.

At the Fire Temple, after you unlock the bonus areas with the Cryomancer Heart, a challenged titled "Whispering" has a Klue: LAHTEL SPIL { Lips Lethal/Lethal Lips }. The opponent is Empress Sindel. Using Sonya Blade's "Kiss" fatality does nothing - trust me, I tried. You MUST use Kitana's second fatality on her own mother to proceed to the rewards chest.

So yes, this game technically does reward players for acts of incest, but hey, it also rewards them for splitting people in half crotch-first with various sharp objects. Have some perspective.

Handheld Fighting Games of 89/94 - Mortal Kombat - Game Boy

Released in 1993 for the Game Boy, Mortal Kombat brought the brutal, fast-paced action of the arcade classic to Nintendo's handheld console. Developed by Midway Manufacturing Company and published by Acclaim Entertainment, the Game Boy version retained much of the core gameplay that made the series iconic.

Players could choose from a roster of seven fighters, including Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Sonya Blade, each with their unique special moves and signature "Fatalities. However these fatalities as well as the games blood effects were massively toned down to comply with Nintendo's family friendly image resulting in the Game Boy's versions of fatalities looking for the most part like regular moves.

My latest wallpaper of Mortal Kombat and DC Comics in 80s/90s live-action form.

While Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is probably my least favorite game in the mainline series of MK fighting games, I am still a fan of both properties, so much that I was inspired to do this picture.

The cast:

- Christopher Reeve as Superman

- Robin Shou as Liu Kang

- Jennifer Connelly as Wonder Woman

- Cameron Diaz as Sonya Blade

- Michael Keaton as Batman

- Chris Casamassa as Scorpion

I went mainly with the actors from the old MK, Batman and Superman movies because they're very iconic and what a lot of us grew up with (especially me).

Once again, I went with Cameron as Sonya because of her being the original choice for the role in the 1995 MK movie before getting injured and replaced by Bridgette Wilson-Sampras (who was still solid in the role).

I went with Jennifer as Wonder Woman since she is often a fan-favorite choice for the character if they ever made a WW movie back in the day before we eventually got the 2017 movie and its craptastic sequel, both of which starred Gal Gadot in the role. Plus, I already envision Jennifer as an influence for Kitana in my take on MK, so it made sense to have her be WW as well since both characters are kind of similar.

There were discussions about a Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe animated movie, but Warner Bros. turned the idea down, which had me feeling rather bittersweet...I would have loved for them to do a MK vs. DC animated film as well as a Spawn/Batman movie, but after how badly they handled the Injustice and Mortal Kombat Legends flicks? Maybe it's a good thing it won't happen...

Holy hell! I haven't used this in eons to post!

Anyway... I hope you don't mind ongoing draw every ____ things that I have started about a few years ago and up to now. The flavor this time? Mortal Kombat baby! I've decided back in may 2019 to draw every Mortal Kombatant ever and by every I mean the characters in the games + a few extras (I dunno maybe one day I will actually draw every kharacter).

Starting this off is the kombatants that first appeared in the 1992 game. The seven playable characters (Johnny Cage, Kano, Sub-Zero (Specifically Bi-Han), Sonya Blade, Raiden, Liu Kang, and Scorpion (Specifically Hanzo Hashashi), a sub-boss (Goro), the final boss (Shang Tsung), and the secret character that you can fight when met with certain conditions (Reptile) .

Originally, this was just me drawing them in my favorite/most iconic outfit but you'll see very early on it shifted from that to me giving them new designs. Of course, you'll most likely not see any here except for maybe Raiden, Syzoth (aka Reptile), and Sonya (which technically was a mix of her MK3, Deadly Alliance, and MK9? Designs). Will I come back to this group and give these guys proper designs that are mine?

Yeah maybe. Why not?

Mortal Kombat (2021)

The champions of Earth are being hunted down before the tournament can begin but they may be saved by the last descendent of a bloodline thought destroyed.

Although it’s largely an action movie based around fantastical fights, this installment of the franchise included some good character-based storyline. The family of the protagonist was fairly generic although one got a good hit in. The effects easily maintain the entertainment value and there’s range to the classic characters without using them all in one go.

There are many fights of varying kinds but we don’t actually get to the kombat arena which doesn’t matter terribly but does suggest for some time that it’s leading up to something that doesn’t occur. Similarly, the main villain doesn’t get a proper fight scene, being spirited off at the end so that he can be addressed more in a possible sequel, which is a lot to promise in uncertain times.

The actors all suit the roles very well and some even succeed in making the roles their own. There is some development and twists for the characters, unlike earlier attempts, which makes this possibly the best Mortal Kombat so far. It held out and chose the right moments for some of the iconic lines and they worked effectively.

Even though there is a good deal of the franchise already explored, the film could have easily stood more explanation for some of the lore and rules involved, although more time would have been needed for it and it’d have had to be worked in intelligently. In particular, why did Sonya work out her power so quickly? Also, in this reviewer’s humble opinion, they didn’t milk the theme for long enough or heavily enough; a metal version could have banged.

4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-

-When being led through the tunnels, the group pass Kitana’s fan, a reference to when Kitana led a group through the tunnels in the 1995 film.

-Sub-Zero’s regular name, “bi han” is Chinese for “to keep out the cold”.

-The ice blade was made of resin with a plastic wrap so it appeared to glisten in light like ice.
