Fun moment of things syncing up - just after reading sonictrowel's 'Long Night in the Blue House' (on AO3) parts 69-75 aka where River and the 8th Doctor are stealing time before River goes to the Library and she finds out she is pregnant with their second daughter. I am driving home and 'Bad Idea' from Waitress the musical plays from my Spotify. And it just fit way to well to not be funny.

Honorable mentions from the series that are amazing:

I was so pissed at what the author did with their older daughter Athena it was written so well. When they revealed that Athena was actually at the Library with River, disguised as Anita, I nearly screamed. Athena saying that Rory lasted on the communicators the Doctor has sent years ago for a while, talking about his shoelaces. I actually froze and had to stop myself from screaming in public. On my just now re-read I could see how it slowly built up and I appreciate how well it was all tied in.

The other great part is when Milly visit 12 during the season 10 period at the university and meets Bill. And because Milly has meet Bill in the future she needs to determine where Bill is in the timeline. So she asks Bill "Are you still. You know" and Bill is like "Am I still what?". The hilarity of knowing that Milly is trying to ask "Are you still Alive??/Have you been turned into a cyberman then a space puddle yet?" and Bill just being confused was so good.

Can you rec your fave River/Doctor fics (esp 11)? I keep re-reading the same ones because I’m having a massive renewed obsession, but am kind of picky about fics. Also, I love your blog so much because you post so much River stuff; are super funny; and answer your anon asks! I’m really grateful that this fandom still exists, even though River hasn’t been on the show much since 2013 and likely won’t be again 😭

Kaz’s fics are just…SUPER CUTE. The way she writes their flirting is always super on point.

you’re what I couldn’t find by areyoumarriedriver - canon divergence, to say much more would spoil it, just read it. It’s really, REALLY, good. In fact, read ALL of areyoumarriedriver’s stuff. She used to be pretty active in the fandom, and has a lot of Eleven/River fic, though isn’t around much anymore (which is why she’s not in my main list).

And I just want to say, if you’re a River/Doctor writer and I haven’t mentioned you or your fics, don’t feel bad (I don’t want to make anyone feel bad with this fic rec, okay!) I may not have read your fics, or may just not remember reading them (that’s not a bad thing - I have a TERRIBLE memory). And I love a LOAD more fics and authors than this list, I couldn’t list you all or we’d be here forever. The Doctor Who fandom has REALLY talented writers.
