In your words describe Shadow

What is he like? Do you think he’ll be different in the movie than prime or sonic x or the games?

Oghh man, when you’re asking about my favorite character of all times.. prepare for an essay hshsjsjsh

Shadow is someone who really imprinted on me as a kid, (besides Sonic ofc lmao) I first saw him in Generations and knew next to nothing about him other than he was single-handedly the coolest character in the game.

In the Sonic and Shadow race that happens in gens, I could tell he was pretty powerful— and when he comes to support Sonic fighting off the time eater, I could also tell he was a good friend. (7 year old me omg if only you knew lmao)

But as I grew older, I started learning more about Shadow as a character— I think that’s when I started to understand just how important Shadow is to the Sonic series as a whole, and to us, his fans.

Shadow is someone who’s been through hell and back, literally. He’s someone that, through all the odds, became someone he wanted to be (and even more)— not something he was made for.

He’s compassionate, curious, headstrong and likes to keep to himself most of the time. He’s not one for “pleasing the big crowds” he just does what he knows is right.

He has a small circle of friends that are like his family, he gets to be a kid again with them. He gets to be competitive and have people to care about again. Even if he has trouble showing it.

Shadow is a heavily traumatized character, one whose past doesn’t just make him some asshole villain character (because that’s NOT who he is.) He’s someone who never got to mourn, who’s been manipulated, who has memory issues and teaches us that it’s not as simple as just “getting over our negative experiences” but acknowledging they happened and growing stronger because of it.

He doesn’t try to be a whole other person, he is unapologetically himself. Someone who’s gonna stand up and protect others, someone who’s not gonna be seen as a hero by everyone or be as loved as some blue heros. But that doesn’t stop him so why should that stop any of us?

He inspires us to choose our own path, to not dwell on our past but rather grow because they happened. To be who we’re meant to be truly, and if the whole world turns its back on us we can fight like we’ve always have.

He’s a nerd, he likes flowers and coffee beans, he loves animals and the Earth he protects. He cherishes it all for him and Maria cuz that’s what she would’ve wanted for him and he believes it. He’s willing to protect the humanity that wronged him, even give it a second chance.

He’s Shadow the fucking Hedgehog.

But to answer your question (hsjsjsj SORRY) I’m not too sure how they’ll portray him in the movie or the games moving forward (love how he was in prime hands down best Shadow characterization) but from what I’ve seen so far, all the shadow love? I know my boy’s back, and he’s gonna be my fav no matter what 💖

I feel like Luz and amity would be in line for a good witch azura thing and let azura and mittens go do there own thing till they meet up for lunch or whatever, and when they meet up azura has like ten bags filled with sonic merch and then mittens just with two more bags of random stuff they thought looked cool (Luz and amity are trying to figure out how they afforded all of it)

I had more ideas of what I think the other characters might be doing but this is getting really long.

Little Ghost

Fandom: Sonic the Hedgehog (movie universe)

Pairing: Gen, Sonic/Shadow if you squint

Summary: The boys learn about pumpkin carving and go trick-or-treating

Sonic grinned to himself as he zipped through the forest back to the Wachowski's house. Or, rather, his home, as Maddie insisted he call it. And he supposed it really was home now, with how the Wachowski's had truly opened their home to him, his adoptive little brother and rowdy best friend. He sighed happily as he skidded to a halt in the driveway, orange and red leaves swirling around his feet as he looked up at the house, warmth bubbling up in his chest at seeing the Halloween decorations he, Tails and Knuckles had helped put up only the day before. Today they would be carving up the pumpkins Tom had picked up from the market, to join the one Maddie had brought home from the clinic (gifted to her by one of her patients 'parents'). He was more than elated to get to experience such a simple tradition; one he'd watched countless families partake in over the years that he finally got to join in on, himself.

He was about to trot into the house to see if he could help Maddie set up the pumpkin carving station (she'd noted that it would take up a fair bit of space, and that it would be best to do outdoors or the garage) when he spotted Shadow standing just before the front steps of the house, staring down at the pumpkin Maddie had brought home from the clinic. Curiosity piqued, Sonic strode over to his self-proclaimed rival instead, an easy going grin on his face as he came to a stop next to the dark hedgehog.

"Penny for your thoughts?"

Shadow jerked slightly at Sonic's words, turning a sharp glare on the other. "My thoughts are worth more then a mere cent."

"It's a figure of speech," Sonic snorted, hands on his hips as he casually rocked on the balls of his feet, "it means 'what are you thinking about', without being so boring."

"Hmm," Shadow eyed Sonic, a doubtful look on his face, before turning his gaze back on the pumpkin, "I was just wondering…why the gourd has a face cut into it."

"Oh, that? Maddie brought it home from the clinic. It's a decoration," Sonic said with a shrug, "Y'know, like the ones we helped put up yesterday?"

"I was not here yesterday," Shadow stated bluntly, folding his arms over his chest, "I was with Commander Tower."

"Right, GUN stuff," Sonic nodded idly, mirroring Shadow's stance absently. "Well, long story short, we helped put decorations up for Halloween yesterday, since it's in just a couple days." He paused, scrunching his nose up a little, "You do know what Halloween is, right?"

"Enlighten me."

Sonic made an incredulous noise at Shadow's blasé response, tossing his arms into the air. "Why, only the greatest holiday, next to Christmas, of course!"

"I am familiar with Christmas," Shadow offered, turning bodily towards Sonic to give the other his full attention.

"Okay, well, replace Santa with skeletons, presents with candy, and having a heartfelt family dinner with dressing up in costumes, and you've pretty much got Halloween."

"…That explained nothing," Shadow snorted, glaring at Sonic.

"Hey, I'm better at showing, not telling," Sonic said with a shrug, easy grin settling back on his face. "Anyway, are you sticking around today? We're gonna carve up some more pumpkins in a bit, to fill out the rest of the steps."

"I suppose I could stay a while longer," Shadow said with a small nod, flicking his gaze back to the pumpkin in question, "I am still curious as to why the gourd needs a face."

"...We'll ask Tails to google it."

Pumpkin carving was an adventure in and of itself.

First, it turned out that the reason the pumpkin needed a face was an old human tradition, which involved using the fruit as a ward against an evil spirit entering your home on All Hallows Eve. Finding that out resulted in Tails spiraling down a rather interesting rabbit hole of fun facts about Halloween that Shadow was more interested in than Sonic honestly thought he would be.

Second, once Knuckles found out that pumpkins were edible, it took both Tom and Maddie to keep him from scarfing down one of the smaller pumpkins in the pile whole. As it turned out, the pumpkins were very similar to a fruit the echidna had eaten with his tribe as a child. He only stopped trying to steal the rest of pumpkins when Maddie promised to buy him a pumpkin pie that he could have all to himself.

Thirdly, it turned out that Shadow was not a fan of the slimy innards of the pumpkins, and immediately peaced out from helping to hollow them out as soon as he touched a stringy glob of pumpkin guts and seeds. Sonic was worried for a moment that the dark hedgehog would disappear back to wherever he went when he wasn't at the Wachowski's (Sonic had a funny feeling he'd starting living in Sonic's old cave), however he simply scooted away from the pumpkin Sonic was digging into with a spoon, a frown on his face and arms crossed over his chest.

"The best part is carving the face, anyway," Maddie offered when she noticed Shadow's sullen look, the dark hedgehog's ears perking at her comment. He arched an eyebrow at her, earning a light laugh from the vet. "You can make any design you want. It doesn't even have to be a face, if you don't want."

"Oh, he wants," Sonic interrupted, leaning in to block Maddie's view of Shadow, "We're going to make the scariest pumpkin of them all. Aren't we, Shadow?" Sonic turned an expectant grin on the darker hedgehog, fully expecting some sort of snarky quip from the other, but was pleasantly surprised by the sudden determined expression and nod he got, instead.

In the end, the Wachowski porch was adorned with a traditional squared toothed, grinning pumpkin (Tails), a pumpkin with a cat carved into it (Tom and Maddie), a round eyed, lopsided smiling pumpkin (Knuckles), and a jagged toothed, angry looking pumpkin with it's carved out innards spewing from between it's teeth (Sonic and Shadow). Sonic bounced on his toes as he stepped back from positioning his and Shadow's pumpkin on the stairs, a proud little smile on his face as he planted his hands on his hips and turned to the perpetually frowning hedgehog.

"Well? What did you think?"

"Of what?"

"Of what," Sonic echoed with a snort, rolling his eyes, "Pumpkin carving! Even if Tails' research said the tradition goes back to, like, the 1800's or something, I'm sure you didn't get much pumpkin action on the ARK."

"No. We didn't," Shadow admitted with a small shrug, arms folding over his chest. "This was…entertaining. Our pumpkin is the best one."

"Of course it is," Sonic scoffed, waving a hand through the air, "We carved it. It had to turn out awesome."

Shadow gave a small nod, beginning to turn as he dropped his arms to his sides. "I should be going…"

"Wait!"

With an arched brow Shadow paused, clearly unimpressed with Sonic delaying his departure.

"Uh…Will you be back for trick-or-treating?" Sonic didn't mean to sound hopeful. He knew going door to door and collecting candy was probably the farthest thing from an activity Shadow would willingly participate in, but he couldn't help himself but to ask.

"Trick-or-treating?"

"Yeah, man. You dress up in cool costumes, go around to peoples houses and collect candy. Y'know, like that tradition Tails read to you, about appeasing spirits and disguising yourself and stuff? This will be the first year for all of us," Sonic offered, rubbing the palm of his hand absently against his hip, "I think Tails said he's gonna do some sort of android thing, and Knuckles is gonna be a 'plucky street walker'. Don't ask me what that is, I think he watched a movie or something with Wade's mom."

"…And you?"

"Me?"

"What are you planning for your costume?"

Sonic let out a short laugh, shrugging his shoulders a little, pleased that Shadow hadn't scoffed at him and disappeared in a flash of light over something as 'childish' as collecting candy. "There's so much to choose from! I think, maybe a werewolf? Maddie showed me a couple of neat ideas I thought were kinda cool. Plus, it's kinda a traditional costume, and I wanted to do this right my first time 'round."

Shadow let out a little humming sound, before nodding slightly at Sonic. "I will think about it," he stated, before disappearing.

Sonic sighed, staring off into the tree line, his shoulders and ears drooping. The last time Shadow had told him he'd 'think about' something the dark hedgehog had totally ghosted him over a sleepover. So much for his hopes of having everyone together for one of their first big family holidays.

"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!" Tails called from the doorway, his namesake swaying behind him impatiently, "We're burning precious candy collecting time!"

"I thought you said your map would, and I quote, 'optimize the amount of candy we could get in the shortest amount of time;?" Sonic teased, flicking one of the little pieces of metal Tails had meticulously attached to his fur to give the illusion that he was part robot.

"It will," the fox kit reassured, puffing up his chest.

"Then chill out, little bro," Sonic said with a bright laugh, "There's loads of time."

"Picture time!' Maddie called as she lead Knuckles from the bathroom, where she'd helped the echidna meticulously apply make-up and style his quills into a bun. He was wobbling a bit in a pair of high heels, but Sonic was overall impressed with how steady he was. He'd tried on a pair of Maddie's shoes once before, and it had not gone so well.

"Everyone gather in front of the holiday ghoul," Tom directed, gesturing for the boys to huddle in front of the zombie figure that was stood next to the front door and held a bowl of candy.

Sonic bounced into his spot between Tails and Knuckles, shoving a pair of plastic fangs into his mouth and striking a hunched pose with a growl, his quills bristled and teeth barred while the others posed according to their own costumes. Maddie giggled as she snapped pictures on her phone, the boys laughing along as they struck different poses for her.

"All right, all right," Tom finally called, waving for Maddie to stop with a smile of his own, "If we hold them up much longer, it really will eat into their candy time."

"Okay," Maddie sighed. "Well, you boys have fun! And no tricks! Just treats. Be safe."

"Yes, Maddie," all three boys chimed as Tom leaned in to give his wife a kiss.

"We'll be back around nine," Tom hummed as he opened the door, ignoring the chorus of groans from the boys.

"That's so early," Sonic grumbled the loudest, freezing as Tom opened the door, spying a certain black and red hedgehog stood at the bottom of the stairs, a dark cape draped around his shoulders. "Shadow! You came!"

Shadow jerked back slightly as Sonic zoomed down the stairs and enveloped him in the briefest of hugs, a quiet grunt leaving him as Sonic quickly backed off. "Hm. I wanted to see what the fuss was about."

"Oh! You look so cute! Are you a vampire?" Maddie called from the top of the stairs, her phone already out and snapping pictures.

"It is a traditional costume," Shadow said with a short nod, gesturing vaguely at Sonic's werewolf outfit, "I thought it would work well, given my color scheme."

"It does. You look great," Maddie said, frowning slightly at Shadow's empty hands, "Do you not have anything to collect candy in?"

Shadow blinked, glancing down at Sonics hands, where he was clutching an old pillow case. Likewise, Tails and Knuckles were also holding old pillowcases, while Tom had a backpack, where they were obviously planning to dump their bags when they got too heavy or full. "I…" Shadow began, muzzle flushing, only to pause as Sonic shoved his pillowcase into Shadow's hands.

"Give me two seconds," the blue hedgehog said, zipping away in a blur, only to reappear with another old pillowcase in hand a moment later. "There! Now we're all set."

"Have fun, boys!" Maddie called from the doorstep as a handful of kids began to filter into their yard, her attention diverting to handing out candy.

"Thank you, Sonic," Shadow murmured as their little band began to meander down the driveway, his face ducked slightly.

"Hey, it's no problem, Shads," Sonic hummed, reaching out to tug Shadow into his side, "I'm just glad you showed up."

Shadow lifted his head, offering Sonic a rare, fleeting smile. It left a warm feeling swirling in Sonic's gut, and a flush on his own muzzle.

"I appreciate the invitation."

"Yeah, 'course. Anytime."

Into, Across and Beyond! Scripting: Duo Hunt

During More than One Universe, OMT!Tails set off on his search for Richard, looking through Dust Hill to begin with as the sun began to set.

OMT!Mina: I know you have enhanced strength with the nanomachine suit and all, but I really don't know how you are able to somersault without throwing up.

OMT!Tails: Hey, don't worry. Remember, I had good teachers as part of my youth. Besides, I've had worse.

He came to a landing near the electric pylons, where he noticed glowing purple and red cubes going by.

OMT!Tails: Huh? Are you guys seeing this?

He looked to where they were trailing and saw it forming into a hedgehog-like ghost. This was Talrareth Calsworth, floating above the pylons and energy cables.

OMT!Tails: I can see something.

OMT!Mina: Me too.

Mini Sonic: Is that Richard?

OMT!Tails: No, it doesn't look like him. He's human, while this guy is identical to Shalian. (to Talrareth) Erm... You wouldn't happen to be from another world, would you?

He got no response as OMT!Mina and Mini Sonic watched from the Wing Fortress's computer.

OMT!Mina: What's he doing?

OMT!Tails: I don't know. Looks like he's charging up from... something.

OMT!Mina: I don't like this. Just shoot him!

OMT!Tails used the provided device and aimed carefully. However, when he fired at Talrareth, the capture beam just phased right through him and hit one of the nearby cacti, causing it to be warped into one of the chambers.

OMT!Mina: W-Woah!

On cue, Talrareth opened his eyes, revealing them to be pitch-black with red sclera. Realising he had to book it, Tails got to dodging his attacks.

Mini Sonic: Go left! Left left left left! No, go left! OMT!Mina: What are you doing?! Tails, head right! Come on!

OMT!Tails: Guys! This isn't helping!

Talrareth warped right in front of Tails and blasted him to the ground, knocking his communicator off his wrist.

OMT!Mina: Oh, no... What happened? T-Tails? Are you there?

One of his more powerful attacks was about to impact with Tails, when it quickly got blocked off by a glowing red wall.

OMT!Tails: H-Huh? Woah!

Another humanoid figure, black and red himself, formed from the wall, and unlike Talrareth, helping Tails WAS in his best interests.

AVA!Corrupt: Tails! It's me, Corrupt! You remember?

OMT!Tails: I am Tails, but I'm not your Tails.

AVA!Corrupt: What do you mean you're not my Tails? Where's Monika? What's going on?!

OMT!Tails: I'll explain everything shortly, but first, could you help me neutralise the phantom ghost up there?

AVA!Corrupt: Okay!

OMT!Tails: You try to surround him with what you've got, and I'll do the rest!

Corrupt nodded, forming fragments of data around Talrareth to keep him from escaping. During this, Tails got up on the pylon closest to them, ready for the next phase as he grappled onto two other pylons.

AVA!Corrupt: I c-can't... hold it... much longer!

Tails took out two of the Chaos Emeralds, specifically the yellow and white ones, using their Emerald Powers to freeze time and get the jump on Talrareth. This set off a chain reaction that knocked Talrareth to the ground, along with Tails a moment later as Corrupt floating to his position.

AVA!Corrupt: Another, younger Tails? Weird...

He helped Tails up.

OMT!Tails: Phew! Thanks!

Talrareth got up, a bit shaky, but now in a physical form and his eyes and skin back to normal.

Talrareth: I... I've got a physical body again.

OMT!Tails: Hey, erm... I know this'll sound crazy, but this isn't your universe.

Talrareth: Another universe?

OMT!Tails: Uh-huh.

AVA!Corrupt: Wait. This isn't some "Next-Gen" timeline or universe?

Talrareth: That's what I was feeling... This power... it's different... I like it.

AVA!Corrupt: Easy there.

Talrareth: So, what? You're both just gonna stand there and act like you haven't seen a partial ghost before?

AVA!Corrupt: I, erm...

OMT!Tails: N-Nah, not really.

He noticed some old shoes resembling his nearby, putting them on.

OMT!Tails: It's actually partially my fault you two wound up here.

Talrareth: Like, in this universe, or in the middle of a desert?

OMT!Tails: The former, sir. Listen, I promise we'll get you both back home in one piece. Do you trust me?

AVA!Corrupt: I guess so.

Talrareth: I mean, why not?

OMT!Tails: Okay. Just hold tight, alright?

He used the blaster, warping Talrareth off to the Wing Fortress.

AVA!Corrupt: W-What did you just do to him?!

OMT!Tails: No no no, it's okay, it's okay...

AVA!Corrupt: Did you kill him for no reason?!

OMT!Tails: Woah woah! Listen! I can explain, you just have to trust me! Please just...

AVA!Corrupt: I can't trust you! I don't even know you!

Tails didn't waste a second sending him off to his own chamber.

AVA!Corrupt: H-Huh? What is this?

Talrareth: Yeah, you picked the wrong side.

Crossover Realm Corrupt began chuckling, recognising Talrareth from somewhere.

Talrareth: Corrupt?

Shalian: Huh? You know the living ink hedgehog?

Talrareth: Not a hedgehog, but a monster, ironically also named Corrupt like the Club President-raised kid here. He was some kind of... dark-matter being and wanted countless people to join his hivemind. It was crazy!

CR!Corrupt: It wasn't crazy, Calsworth. It was a new step in the evolution of life!

Mini Sonic: The black hedgehog can talk?

CR!Corrupt: What about you? The last time I remember you, you had missing legs, completely darkened eyes and messy quills. Did you... somehow get a makeover? You know I can give you a real makeover.

Talrareth: Lemme guess, into one of your corrupted kind?

CR!Corrupt: Precisely!

AVA!Corrupt: C-Can you two please stop? Where are we, anyway?

Mini Sonic: Uh, well, you guys are in-

OMT!Mina: A scientist's makeshift dungeon.

Mini Sonic: Wha-?

Talrareth: Scientist's... Scientist's dungeon?

Shalian: Eh...

OMT!Mina: Not really any other way to explain that. It's literally the place a former mad scientist is holding you all for now.

Talrareth: Well, you can keep your fancy tech. I wanna test out the new energy I just found...

Mina heard her phone ring, and when she answered, it was Tails.

OMT!Mina: Tails, hey!

OMT!Tails: Hey, did those guys go through yet? They were both red, but were of different kinds.

OMT!Mina: Yeah. They both got through safely and are contained without any problem.

OMT!Tails: Great! I'm gonna stick around here for a bit and fix up some of this damage, so that SIGU don't start blaming it all on me.

OMT!Mina: Sure thing!

OMT!Tails: But hey, I, uh... I couldn't do any of this without you guys, so... thank you.

OMT!Mina: No probs, twin-tailed kitsune! Hehe!

Tails blushed happily to the compliment.

Mini Sonic: Hey, so, um... Is this, like... a hedgehog monster who turned himself into a cactus-?

Talrareth: It's just a cactus, small Sonic. Just a cactus.

Elsewhere, Richard was hiding away in an alley after fleeing from Bumper High School in shame, with the blood of the school's bullies on his hands, especially that of Benny, who got too confident for his own good in trying to intervene.

???: Coward! We have a new world to conquer.

He looked at a broken mirror.

Richard: P-Please... L-Leave me a-alone...

???: You make me sick... Hiding in the shadows... Hiding from who you truly are!

Richard: N-No!

???: You can't escape yourself!

Richard threw a loose brick at the mirror to knock it down as he fled, the disembodied voice laughing at his attempt to fix his own path.

NEXT GEN DINOBOTS!

I’ve finally got around to making Dinobots sparkling Ocs, and after several redesigns I’m really happy with these!

They do exist in my lost light au btw! When Tailgate and Cyclonus experimented with making Gale without an hotspot. So Grimlock Asked(more like demand) Brainstorm to somehow find a way to make more dinobots without a hotspot as well as without having a partner.

So Brainstorm after watching some of swerve’s earth movies got the bright idea to create an Dinobot from an egg somehow, with the help of Grimlocks dna of course. AND IT WORKED! (Sorta) Bam was created then after few hundred years later so was Spittake and so forth.

Bam The Brontosaurus : Bam is the eldest at 400+ years old! (In my au Sparklings age like normal humans then after age 18 their body starts aging like a normal cybertonian) she is very kind and patient with her siblings and can come across very motherly. She often helps Grimlock “tame” the kids when things go south.

Though Bam is a Dinobot she doesn’t talk in 3rd person like Grimlock most of the time. This is probably due to the fact that she grew up around other cybertonians like her good friend Gale. She is also very smart as well, some tease she should be Queen of the Dinos some day!

Spittake The Dilophosaurus: He is the second oldest at age 12, and he honestly lives up to his name. He’s definitely a kind of shit disturber and hates when things are to “peaceful” in the Habsuite. Most of the chaotic things happening on the ship are usually caused by him, especially when he creates his artwork on the walls of the ship.

Spittake is able to use the colorful tar that constantly comes from his body and use it to create art! Though pretty on the surface, if it leaks into your optics or any kind of pores it can create very strong hallucinations. Victims of this have been Magnus, Grimlock, trailcutter and Prowl. All on accident of course!

Spittake may seem like a troublesome mech king but he’s actually a sweetheart who would do anything for his friends and family! He’s mostly seen make arts and crafts with Gala and Ten.

Hit The Raptor: she is the second youngest at 4 years old, The only way I can describe Hit perfectly is that she’s kind of a mix between Amy rose from sonic and Angelica from rugrats if that makes any sense? She definitely bratty and usually gets what she wants most of the time. She’s also a huge daddy’s girl, so whenever Spittake or some bots mean to her she’ll always run to Grimlock.

Hits a girly girl despite her tomboyish behavior sometimes. Her favorite color is pink and she always wants to play dress up with someone. Also Gala is her best friend so don’t be mean to her either unless you wanna see her true wrath.

Crash The Spinosaurus: crash is the youngest at 3 years old, there is much to say about him yet but that he feels more comfortable in his alt form instead. All of the next Gen dinobots stayed in their alt forms as Sparklings but Crash is taking a bit more time than usual.

He’s a very energetic and happy sparkling, even though he can’t say full words. He has a bad habit with biting things and bots occasionally, but it’s just his form of teething. Also he likes Gala…a lot! ;)

Good Stuff: Best of 2022

This current year I say was a better current year than the one before, I mean the Queen died and that was funnier than Elon Musk's whole existence beyond the fact he sucks at Twitter. Never mind the chaotic reality we have, I'm celebrating the 10 best animations to come out this year. The only rule being they had to debut this year so while these two were banger entries, Amphibia and Owl House have to be exempt because I want to be fair. Otherwise, ANYTHING GOES so let's go...

Number 10: Batwheels

This reached the list for the sheer fact that it feels like a joke but has a better punchline than it has any right to. It looks colorful with great animation, and even if it's a preschool series it's thankfully one that's just about the adventures of both the titular bat vehicles and the actual Batman characters. This isn't like Cars where there aren't any humans around and they're cleverly able to make everyone coexist in a way that never feels out of place. It works as a good morning cartoon and a kiddo's introduction to the Batman universe besides the comics or the 90s animated series.

Number 9: We Baby Bears

I feel like we all need that one shows that's just for cute vibes to curb the stress and mental instability that intrudes on you when you get home from work or school. Being the spin-off prequel to We Bare Bears, while it can be pretty plain in terms of premises it's cute and whimsical on its own merits. It reminds me of Klonoa where we're hopping from world to world, sometimes there are familiar faces but otherwise, it's just about having fun with the different environments with characters I bet most gen ziggas will be familiar with. I say it was a good series to start off the year and while Cartoon Network's future feels too uncertain, I don't think a show like this is such a front on their MO. Plus, bears are awesome.

Number 8: Sonic Prime

The fact that Sonic the Hedgehog basically gave us its take on Robot Pirate Island was enough for me to like this, but Sonic Prime works well as a new series. Low on the list because for eight episodes, it wasn't as fulfilling especially when it felt like the SatAM show but not as tight since it's a multiverse story. Not that it isn't fun, this has more jovial energy to this that feels like a mesh between SatAM and The Adventures of Sonic. The animation I say is peak for a Sonic cartoon, imperfect but it looks like they're let loose with movement and expression. Plus again, we got the battle of Robot Pirate Island ending with a funny abrupt bodying from Shadow. Overall, hopeful part 2 ups the momentum because this and the Mario Movie really look like we might be eating well next year.

Number 7: The Cuphead Show!

Cuphead changed the way we game. With the DLC released this year as well, we seriously got a franchise that earned its keep. It felt natural that we'd get a cartoon, running alongside the recent Looney Tunes and Mickey Mouse short series as a great resurgence of the rubber-hose animation style. I'll say though that the episodes are great for this show, gets really going when Ms. Chalice joins for real, but it's scattershot in terms of actual banger episodes especially when the Devil makes for the best episodes with or without the porcelain trio. They at least end the 3rd season on a high note so whether we get more or not, this was overall satisfying and worth the wait.

Number 6: ONI, Thunder God's Tale

Really sucks this was talked about by nobody beyond the Goomba Got Back dude, whose video on it was cool. This was an incredibly made miniseries created by the same studios behind DOMO, Rilakkuma and Kaoru, and the cutscenes of most modern Sonic games. I love the plush and clay look of the characters and the environments are insanely beautiful. Storywise it's one where it starts strong and gets stronger with every part like episode two's ending was a gut punch and the blows kept coming after that. I loved this world of yokai and kami and it was an emotionally warm tale of family and self-actualization. Seriously recommend watching this at least once, subbed or dubbed since both are pretty good. So yeah, everybody that proclaims "animation is cinema", where the fuck were you?

Number 5: Scrat Tales

Would've been wrong to not put this on the list since it was the last thing Blue Sky made before Bob Chapek took the studio out back. Even if Blue Sky never closed, these shorts were great, taking me back to when Scrat was at his best in the earlier Ice Age films. The animation is especially great and it just makes me wish Blue Sky got to do more because this really showed they were good with slapstick comedy and improved after two decades. Needless to say, this miniseries and their final short was them going out on a high note, giving the best middle finger to Disney after they tried to revive the Ice Age franchise with the Buck Wild movie. If there was anything to credit about this year, it was taking the bad with the good.

Number 4: The Bob's Burgers Movie

This was surprisingly the year when I watched a lot of movies. Thankfully I'm not a filmbro (yet...) but I've really appreciated the time I made in actually going to the theaters more than once, so yeah Bobby's Bunger. I say it works on its own but it's definitely more for fans of the TV series and even then you probably have to see the season that came before this to have better context. Besides that, you're just enjoying the good vibes that come from the characters, the humor, the animation, and the pinch of musical numbers we get; Sunny Side Up Summer was legit an earworm banger. It overall works when you know the Belcher family because they carry this film.

Number 4 (2): Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

Mate, when it reached a certain scene involving a poem, I was practically choking back my tears. You'll know there's a later stop-motion higher ranked, but this was the 2022 film that personally cut deep. I didn't think a film about talking shells would resonate with me this well, but this existed as more than just Youtube short films extended into a movie. There is a story here about grief, comfort, being internet famous, and community that I feel wouldn't have worked without it being like this. It had that cold but good reminder of how small you can feel with a world you can only wish to grasp in increments; that change is inescapable but that doesn't mean you should take that negatively. It's hard being fearless, risque as you can be with your opinions and ideas, especially with uncertainty. This I say is a great Autumn movie, wonderful in making the seasonal vibe feel more comforting.

Number 3: Smiling Friends

Yeah, it's high on the list. If it wasn't, that means Egoraptor probably made it. To me, Smiling Friends has the enjoyable chaos of Superjail and Aqua Teen with the thematic sincerity of Venture Bros or King of the Hill. It's the most easy-going adult cartoon that yeah, is funny as shit and is funnier the more you know behind the scenes. I gotta appreciate that this is the one time when people from the internet hit the big time and it doesn't feel like forgettable compromised trash. I'll say the Brazil episode was not good, but this was the consistently best show Adult Swim provided in a long while.

Number 2: Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio

Del Toro never gave up on this and what we got was better than expected. There are a couple story problems but it's more than made up by being an amazing retelling of the Pinocchio tale. I never grew up with Pinocchio mind you, I only got familiar with the story this year since it was everywhere, but I wanna say this was as strong an interpretation as one could make. Better than Disney's take I say where it's purposefully not squeaky clean in appearance or atmosphere making its poignant emotional moments hit a little harder. Being Del Toro's first fully animated movie, it's up there with Fantastic Mr. Fox as a film I'd consider a masterpiece on the dedication craft alone.

Number 1: The Bad Guys/Puss in Boots, Last Wish

I'll say it, Dreamworks truly owned the W this year. The fact that two-for-two Dreamworks gave us the best vibes in terms of films like it was nothing has to be appreciated. I was already a fan of Puss in Boots, the film and cartoon series worked as the Zorro franchise we could've got. The Last Wish enhances that with not only literal stellar and dynamic action, no bad characters, but an actual reflective story for Puss, like if the 1st film and series were about him being responsible this sequel was about him being humble, especially in regard to his own mortality and pride. This isn't just a regular adventure like before, there is genuine emotional weight behind what happens to the characters. Just saying, we didn't just get a fierce red-eyed wolf for furry-lusting sake, but an actually intimidating force that owns every scene he's in. Feels like this film truly marks the twilight of where the studio wants to go with its projects and I'm worried but faithful. Oh yeah, and The Bad Guys?

I didn't grow up with the OG books like I did with Captain Underpants, but this film both blew my mind and made me go back to see that the books were good too. Objectively, Puss in Boots was the better film but this was my personal year-round favorite. The VIBES this had with basically every other scene had me just as happy as when I saw the Captain Underpants movie. The animation, the banter, Diane who is everything, and the banging tunes like Good Tonight and the opening with Kitchen Clean were the cleanest scenes I loved all year. If Puss in Boots 2 was the modern Zorro movie I always wanted, this was the American Lupin the 3rd movie I never knew I would get.

All in all, Dreamworks put its best foot forward, far more than expected especially compared to last year or Disney this year. If anything, I'm definitely noticing a slow shift where more animated projects are... footloose and yards away from trying to look realistic or copy-pasted. Not saying it'll all work (remember when theOdd1sOut made a cartoon?) but it has me as faithful as before in seeing worthwhile stuff come to fruition. Then again nothing this year truly stacked up to the

Azreal was originally my next gen Oc for the apocalypse universe but now I have moved him to three other universes.

Apocalypse azreal

the tribreed son of Peter, warren, and Kurt aka quicksilver, angel, and nightcrawler. He was born from a experimental boi experiment that the three agreed to being that they where already married and where told this experiment woutgive them a child and it did. Azreal only had the ability of teleportation and shifting (he got that from his grandmother on Kurt’s side). later in life he had to get his wings cut out of his back since that where not forming properly within him. His speed is only in fight mode as he calls it being able to make a sonic boom if wanting to. Because of him being a tribreed he was hunted and forced to be in human form half the time outside of his home at the institution.

Evolution azreal

This version of azreal is the first of the kodd-vise kids. He has a pretty good childhood being able to hang out with his cousins the daughter of rouge, Queenie. His ability are identical to Todd and Kurt’s with the addition of shifting from his grandmother in to a human form, Azreal can not shift in to different forms only a human form of his own like Kurt’s cloaking watch does.

This version of azreal is a bit darker, when born Kurt didn’t feel like he could properly care for a child let alone a child born from there enemy at the time azreal was also considered a teen birth since Kurt was 18 when this happened (Kurt is canonically 20+ in the show) so azreal was raised by those at the Xzavier school not know the nightcrawler who trained him was his dad but knew the toad was his father. He grew to somewhat hate his parents for abandoning him but well after the fighting and all the pain both his parents got back together and decided to raise there now teenage son. He looks like a shark and doesn’t have any of Todd’s abilities but can teleport, shift and has heightened agility.

Lol. I'll be honest with you here Sonic. Theres a betting pool in the DF of wether it is Mina, Soshiro and Gen who gets to bed Kafka first. People have notice how those three act around the himbo and the silent shipping war going on is nothing to sneeze at.

And once they learn Kafka has an acutally mating season? I wish those four good luck and well wishes.

Its even worse than you think when Tabiki has to tell his son, cause guess what. Kafka did not even think that was a possibility with him at all. At least not until he saw his dad do a facepalm and had a look of utter misery when the scientists asked about this stuff. And the fact that Kafka was indeed starting to show the signs for getting 'ready' to put it lightly that everyone but him knew about.

Kafka is spending the next few months after it is all over to do his own research on the matter. All the while cursing at Tiny who for once actually feel sorry for Kafka.

But over to the baker incident yeah? I think its time we give Kafka a bit of break in this area.

Your right that those Tiramisu cakes are among some of the sweets that Isao can't deal with anymore. And pretty much would react to them the way you described it.

See this is all thanks to Kafka somehow ended up in a large baking facility that makes a wide varity of sweet. Isao pretty much got to know how sweets feel like being baked, pounded, drowned in sugar, syrup, flour and much more.

Of course Isao ain't the only officer who suffered this either.

Hell, even Kafka can't stand some sweets either after that incident. And during his birthdays the cakes ended up being less sweet from then on too.

Its also a odd thing that Kafka and Isao acutally bonds on believe it or not.

There definitely would be a betting pool amongst the shippers, lol.

I'm just remembering that scene from Bones where a celebration went to hell because someone cut the cake or fudge only to find human remains. Hope somebody got rid of all the contaminated batter and ingredients but yeah Kafka wouldn't be okay either, lol. At least those two can now trauma bond. 😅

As the Doctor regenerates, Rose and Jackie try to help him as much as they can. Written for Whumptober 2023, day 2. Prompt used: thermometer.

“‘ow’s ‘e doing?” Rose asked, sitting down next to the Doctor, across from her mum.

“‘e’s a good temperature,” her mum replied. “Was running a fever before.”

“Let me check.”

Rose brushed his hair out the way — her Doctor didn’t have long enough hair to brush away, she tried to not think — and put her hand on his head. He felt like a normal temperature, but hadn’t he told her that Time Lords ran colder than humans?

“Mum, can you look after ‘im? I need to get something from the TARDIS.”

“What d’you think I’ve been doing?” Mum elbowed Rose gently. “Course I’ll keep an eye on him.”

Rose jogged lightly towards the TARDIS and stepped inside. The Doctor wasn’t organised at the best of times, and having narrowly escaped death was not the best of times. She rifled through a few of the immediately available boxes, before finding a thermometer underneath a shelf. She supposed the sonic screwdriver did all the work that other tools used to do for him.

Rose left the TARDIS, trying not to think about if it’d be the last time she set foot there, then she jogged back into her house, and went back to the guest room where the Doctor was.

“‘e still alright?”

“I didn’t kill ‘im in the five minutes you’ve been gone, if that’s what you mean.”

Rose scoffed, then pulled the thermometer out of her pocket.

“Do I just put it in his mouth?” she asked.

“Might want to rinse it, first. Who knows what’s been on it.”

“It was just on the floor, Mum.”

“It’s a time machine , you don’t know what’s been on that floor.”

“Fine, I’ll wash it.”

Rose rinsed it off in the bathroom. It was sort of… dusty, from sitting under a shelf for who knows how long.

“I’ve rinsed it, now do I put it in his mouth or what?”

“Underneath the tongue, I think.”

Rose maneuvered the thermometer and her mum checked the reading.

“It’s thirty-seven, that’s good.”

Rose shook her head. “That’s a fever for Time Lords.”

“It is?”

“Yeah, their average body temperature is lower than ours. Why’d you have ‘im in all these blankets?”

“If I don’t then he’s shiverin’ ‘imself half to death!”

Rose looked at the sleeping form of the Doctor, then turned away.

“I just…” she started, looking down at her hands. “I don’t know how to help ‘im, Mum.”

Rose turned to see her mum looking at her, with that sad expression on her face.

“‘e’s gone through so much ,” Rose continued. “And ‘e’s done so much for me, and I can’t do anythin’ for ‘im. I can’t help ‘im when ‘e’s sick, tryn’ to save ‘im only makes ‘im end up like this. ‘e’s so alone , and ‘e’s been through so much to help me, and I just wanna help.”

Her mum took Rose’s hands in hers, and looked her in the eye.

“Now, I don’t know your Doctor very well, but if ‘e’s as alone as you say ‘e is, then you’re ‘elpin’ ‘im just by bein’ there. Same way you ‘elp me and Mickey.”

Rose sniffed, then nodded. “Thanks, Mum.”

Her mum smiled, then let go of her hands. “Alrigh’, you should get some rest, Rose. Just come back from travellin’, and I’ve got the Doctor handled.”

“Wake me up if anythin’ happens?”

“Course I will. Now go, get some sleep!”

“Alright, Mum!”

As soon as Rose hit the pillow, she was fast asleep.
