Idk if you've seen it, but Appending-fic is a friend of mine and He really enjoyed wfma, so much so that he started a series called Sonic 202X which features the Whipples and Wachowski’s, just as older teenagers. A lot of stuff you've mentioned, like Eclipse becoming a DM happens in his fics. You should check it out ( the first fic, back to the egg shaped future is in my bookmarks on ao3)

Well the timeline for this AU is that the ritual that sealed them together took place in the 50s they start to tolerate one another and eventually balance out eventually in the early 2000's This is their 'I respect you era'

which is quick to evolve into we value each other for reasons. which turn into more feelings early 2000's but of course they dont move forward with said feelings, kind of a thing they both ignore. but right now this AU is in modern time. 202X Id say that the option would come around this time ngl. it would be a great way to push those feelings forward since they both dont have a reason too push forward with their relationship.

Do you think Knuckles could let archeologists visit and explore Angel Island like Relic the Pika (and her companion Fixit the Robot) in Archie? I miss her.

I think so long as the people who come are respectful of his island, history, and heritage, he'd allow it. They could offer him some insights on some things that he couldn't figure out on his own. Maybe there are ruins on the planet that are similar to the ones on Angel Island, and they can extrapolate some information based on what they found in the other ones.

They could maybe offer advice on how to preserve the ruins and remains of his people so they don't continue to decay in the elements. I think he would really appreciate that.
