Here he was working on research when his mom had stopped by and honestly? He hadn't eaten at all. Videl would be 100% on him for letting that happen but she wasn't here for the day and had Pan with her so he didn't think about it.

So when Chi-Chi arrives he sits up straighter and gives her a smile as she smooches his forehead and his eyes immediately dart to the bento meal, his nose already telling him everything he needs to know about what's inside as his excitement grows, and his stomach screams at him to EAT NOW!

"Whoa! Thanks mom!" She didn't NEED to know he hadn't eaten today, just that he was thankful and hungry.

Oh how he loves this woman. This is his wife.
