I FINISHED ALL THE MOVIES

I wanted to live react to Return of the King but sadly my phone was charging upstairs and i was so immersed in the movie that i didn't leave the couch for a second

so many thoughts what can i even say??? I did watch some scenes and mostly memes abt lotr throughout the years and even though i tried to start the books several times when i was younger, i feel like it was never the right moment to give this story a chance and boy am i glad i did it now

anyways

i feel like i can't say anything before mentioning ARWEN DYING FOR NO REASON. Like his father showed up at some point and said "yup. she's dying." DYING OF WHAT 😭 she really got the Padmé special

but honestly Arwen is so real for barely saying anything, zoning out 24/7, almost dying of sadness bc she couldn't be with Aragorn. you may think i'm saying this in a sarcastic way but i'm not!!! she avoided all the drama, in fact she was the drama at some point. and she wore stunning outifts the whole time and in the end she travelled all the way to Gondor to collect her king husband. legend.

there is so much to say about the bonds and sheer humanity of all the characters, how friendship is represented in its purest form and how it was shown so well, it was never forced, it was just genuine and wholesome.... all these people were desperate to end Sauron's reign of terror but even in the darkest hour they never gave up on compassion, kindness, love I AM BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST A WALL. this is what stories should be about. Pippin and Gandalf, Merry and Eowyn, Legolas and Gimli and Aragorn, so many special relationships that bloomed in the ugliness of war and despair.........i am gritting my teeth so hard

for some reason i only watched the spider scene as a kid and it legit traumatized me. for the same unknown reason i happened to watch only the slave scene in Jabba's palace in rotj.... that traumatized me as well. anyways i have strong arachnophobia and i couldn't make it through the entire scene so i covered my eyes the whole time. fuck you spider but burrito Frodo WAS SO DSFHVSDHF no at that point he was at his limit, i can't believe Tolkien made him go through that....OF ALL THE TORTURES. like. what did the man do to you why would you do this

this leads me to the sense of exhaustion at the end. Those final ten minutes before Frodo threw the ring were the worst of my life. Elijah Wood was so amazing, i could feel his fatigue through the screen. i'm so serious I was carrying the ring with him, i felt the weight of that mf on my neck!! AND WHEN GOLLUM BIT HIS FINGER......GOD. DIE. but i was lowkey happy when he got the ring idk his reaction was cute. I'M SORRY a twisted part of my brain was like "oh but i'm glad he finally got it" ????' WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM

FARAMIR'S DAD THE WORST CHARACTER OF ALL TIMES. WORSE THAN GOLLUM. LEGIT CAN'T STAND HIM. i'm so glad he died the most stupid death he deserved all the hate in this world. he wasn't even an asshole he was just so STUPID (and an asshole but his stupidity made me hate him even more) i was howling and dancing and doing backflips when Gandalf set him on fire

so i didn't cry in the very end but i did when Frodo was writing the final part of his book, when he said that there are wounds time can't heal. God i was bawling bc i really get it as a young adult, his sense of exhaustion and the trauma that forever changed him. So often we see heroes just getting over everything they went through or growing from their experiences, but not Frodo, he was forced to do terrible things and he was all alone!!!! sure he had all his friends but in the end nobody could understand what the ring did to him mentally. His fate was heartbreaking and unfair, i hate that the ring broke something inside him forever. He was never the same even after years and years. he really paid the highest price in the end. it's like when you accomplish something you thought you would never be able to accomplish but the process was so painful and hard that you can't even enjoy the result in the end. you are glad it's over but if you could go back you would never sacrifice your health for it. IDK I'M JUST SAYING WHATEVER but anyway i love you frodo
