Holy shit it’s been another year????? The hell?????

Also! Your art style is gorgeous and that being found in 2023 and then refined throughout late 2023 and the entirety of 2024 really shows, as does your growth in panel layouts, perspective, and — as you said — experimentation. If you ever post your animation or video game art I’m looking forward to it.

As cheesy as it sounds, being able to laugh at funny comics and look at all the details of your art really made my 2024 brighter, even when things were hard. Including looking at your older art— it doesn’t need to be new to be enjoyable! I’m glad your art is well loved and it’s a privilege to have been here since the (near) beginning. I hope you take care of yourself in 2025 and beyond!

Thank you so much for keeping up with my art journey throughout these last two years! Two years!!! I am baffled at how that feels both too long and too short!

Admittedly, my art summary didn't manage to capture the fact that I did a lot of comic layouts that I'm really proud of. I also drew more backgrounds and made some very detailed works (*Dungeon Meshi spoilers for these examples*).

The growth is lot more evident when comparing my 'best' comics of 2023 to 2024:

On the topic of “reblogs>likes”, I find that I don’t reblog art with these “out of spite and hatred in my heart” or whatever the fuck, I’m just kind of sad that this is a phenomenon in the first place. Like, as an artist, I absolutely understand that reblogs do count, especially depending on who reblogs it. But also as someone who used to obsess over the numbers on notes and get frustrated about something that I put effort into not getting attention, you kind of have to learn to realize that a) it’s not healthy to seek validation all the time from people on the internet and b) post what you like to post, and you will attract people that will reblog your posts eventually. Sometimes a post will just get happen to get seen by a popular blogger and reblog it, sometimes not, and you are not “owed” their reblog because they’re popular, which is another argument I’ve seen where people think they’re obligated to reblog their art. Sometimes it just depends on the content or the fandom and you have no control over it and that’s Fine. Some art I like enough to reblog, some art I’ll just leave a like, and that’s not a measure of how “good” the art is. And everybody operates their blog differently and nobody should be obligated to do one thing or another. And before anyone brings up “relying on social media for business” I absolutely do understand as someone who does business online, but you’re going to be getting attention primarily from people who already like and follow your art, and from my experience and seeing other people, lamenting on why your posts don’t get notes and if your art is good enough for attention is just going to drive people away. Sorry for being blunt. Have confidence in your art. Idk I wish there was more nuance about this topic but most talk about it annoys me anyways post over

Stop right there. That’s it. Gotham is a very polluted city, the sun? Non-existent! The water is black and brown and sometimes green when the moon shines on it…but mostly black.

The mass pollution is irreversible at this point, at least it’s effects on its’ people are. Pollution comparatively is much easier to cleanse.

No, death has been a deep fog surrounding the city for decades; the pain has made been in its rivers of streets for oh so long; the hope and fear and love and dread and pride and guilt and the calling have been the city’s symphony. The city always had a feeling of life underneath it all, something more to the people.

And the people, they've spent so long in this fog, walking through its’ rivers, from hearing to joining the symphony, for generations that it’s in their very souls and genetics.

They last much longer when inflicted with supposed fatal wounds, they heal as fast as thinking 1+1, physical touch is different for those from this capital of death, they move almost unnaturally to those who aren't from there, and that was before the chemicals.

The chemicals started getting made, getting poured, and spreading. No that strange change of color in the water was more than contaminated water. It was artificial ectoplasm, but with all the death already in it’s very core the waters were soaked up and soon the core in that cemetery came to life. It would have taken a few hundred more years for this core to form from just the death in the city, but she was fed. She was fed a feast, and little Lady Gotham was born.

i feel like sometimes people forget that tumblr tags are public and the op will more often than not be reading every one if they're a creator like an artist or writer. (or they're completely aware and just being jerks)

an artist can see when you say you don't like their design of a character "but the art is cute tho!" a writer can see when you say you hate the headcanon they subscribe to "but the writing is pretty cool." the op of a post will definitely see your comment if your mutual tags you in a post of a fandom youre in and then you go in the tags like "thanks for the tag but i actually fucking hate this interpretation." yes that is a very specific scenario but i've seen it happen.

it's like, yeah. we all disagree with interpretations sometimes. but a creator is putting their works out there for fun and more often than not for FREE. it's just asshole behavior to tell them outright that you don't like a harmless aspect of their work. complain about that shit in your head or in private man. don't disrespect your fellow fandom creators. have some respect for YOURSELF to not put that clown shit in the public where everyone can see
