I’m just. Ough. guh. He sounds like…. This sounds weird LMAO but he feels like… he’d be a marvel to just look at. To just watch him exist. Being a tiny human, watching this gigantic alien old man go about his day. How his joints creak and squeak whenever he stands up from his seat. How he doesn’t notice how heavily his pedes thud against the ground, and the heavy clank that reverberates through the air from every footstep. Ouughh hearing his low voice reading his own writing aloud…. Stopping midway through his sentence to quietly shake his head, muttering to himself, “no, that’s not quite right…” before erasing his last line and brainstorming some more. How he mouths the words to himself, even silently.

Maybe you’re on his shoulder or against his neck, with a great view of his face… his big, aged face. The metal to his face, an unpolished, matte texture, scuffed and worn after millennia of war and intergalactic travel and only a fraction of the self care. The deep wrinkles beneath his optics like crevasses, the same able to be said for his smile lines— though they likely weren’t the result of frequent smiling.

Very jealous of your london trip! If you've had time to digest it, what are thoughts on the escape room? Highlights? Lowlights? ☺️

truly madly deeply absolutely worth doing a london weekend for (nearly) the sole purpose of doing both escape rooms back to back!!! i will have to do a more detailed write-up on the mind of moriarty room at some point, but a few very brief preliminary thoughts will go under the cut for the sake of spoilers for both rooms...

i personally fully avoided spoilers going into this experience so having 'walk directly into 221b' as one of the first things to happen was a very strong start. (i knew photos were done there, i just assumed they were done after the fact!!) AND it was with my beloved s4 skull print :) AND the mirror above the mantle was a screen that moriarty would hack???

highlight of the original escape room was sitting in mycroft's office messing around with a very satisfying control panel to move blinking lights around. we've all seen my blog icon. obviously i needed to take a moment to collect myself after seeing that that was the second stage of that escape room. and there were mirrors! and you had to look through the mirrors to see the clues on the other side!

highlight of the mind of mind of moriarty room was possibly the miniature version of jim's prison cell as seen at the end of thob with assorted phrases scratched into the wall such as 'too many thatchers' and 'three signs aren't enough', and an entirely redacted document from mycroft on the chair. i really do need to write out more details on that entire room though because OUGH!

lowlights do not exist. truly could not have been more pleased with the experience. they played december 1963 at the bar. if i have any complaint it's that you should be allowed to walk back through the rooms again after solving them to fully appreciate all the fun details without the pressure of needing to solve puzzles against the clock.

btw moriarty is dead! he is definitely absolutely dead! we know this because everyone won't stop saying it! it's repeated multiple times in both escape rooms! he's dead on the rooftop and the gun is still in his pocket but he's dead and he's absolutely loving being dead and messing with the holmes boys from beyond the grave! he's the most dead anyone has ever been! why does the official escape room website say the show ran from 2010-2014.

How would ZOLA fare as DND players, or otherwise in a high fantasy setting game?

off the top of my head, as players themselves, wil strikes me as the kind of person to get Really into character and craft these rich, overflowing backstories that weave beautifully into the overarching plot of the campaign, though his character voice is always just. the same voice. which is just his voice but a little to the left. also he always plays default classes. he picked a subclass Once and backed out within 24 hours.

yuu, however, strikes me as a player who plays a bit more chaotic, being fast and loose with his character concepts (they're a joke with three lines of backstory, if any) and mainly focusing on coming up with a lot of creative (if occasionally game breaking) puzzle solutions using combinations of spells, items, and character abilities. while normally everyone at the table is incredibly on board with this, there are some times where legitimately everyone just puts their head in their hands like "he's going to cast grease." always chooses subclasses.

kyo , , , , , , i imagine as someone who likes homebrew. a lot. even if he kind of ends up just playing some iteration of Fictional Himself each time (he's not very creative in that regard), he's always got some kind of wild homebrew backing him up to spice up the experience. like playing a were-dog. a time surgeon. a dullahan bard. barbarian but its an awakened stuffed animal. (he's bad at rolling checks though so one has to wonder if he wants to play DND or he just wants to make characters............)

But Mina is my Private Investigator or Detective in the DC universe. Originally she was made as a side character for Sophie to have friends outside the Rogue gallery. But my friend had her own DC oc, India 💖, so I was like okay lemme expand on Mina so she has more of her own personality and storyline than just being a side character. So I started to tailor-make her more for the Arkham series of games instead of Gotham. But again I just mash up stuff like I did with Sophie since it's so easy with comic book lore. I mean... DC does it to themselves just like Marvel lakfjwelkrj But I say that because uhhhhh wait idk if you've played the Arkham series games? I'm so sorry if you have not and seen spoilers every single day on my blog. But like the last game in the series makes it left open-ended Batman died and I'm like 'nah son' he does not die. So basically I do what I want as we all should so we can enjoy our fucking uhhhhhh little blorbos.

BUT the pun on her name is A. Query. Full name: Aemilia Wilhelmina "Mina" Query. Cuz I wanted someone for the Riddler LMAO just for the fucking canon character again. Uhhh but she's a Private Investigator, licensed, she actually does not work or care for the GCPD and has a chip on her shoulder with them. So she likes to take cases from their departments and solve them before their people. But she's not taking on murder stuff, even though she could, no she's more into solving, which she has solved, a lot of missing persons and then cheating cases. LMAO she's like that fucking cheaters show and will bust people's asses for money. But she's very good at what she does and would probably be an asset if she did work for GCPD but she only really respects Gordon and Barbara there. Instead, she's fine with what she has, she's not ambitious but does like to stick her nose into things just to be knowing. Tying with Sophie she gets away with things someone on the 'side of the law' should not be able to do cuz she'll run to Sophie for protection. And she's not a bribe person I guess also? She's neutral in Gotham or does her best. She picks and chooses her battles.

So with her and the Riddler though for the longest time they never actually met in person. Instead, she's come upon his radio frequency before. After that, they talk and eventually flirt over the radio, phone, text, email, internet whatever, just anything but in person. She's a novelty item to Edward when Batman isn't paying attention to him basically. It's cuz she's solved his puzzles and riddles before so she's not just some little idiot running around Gotham. Still not as smart as him or even worthwhile other than to pass the time! But his attitude of him thinking himself smarter than everyone and being so degrading to her wears on her but instead of being 'ok bye' her ass actually starts a grudge. So she starts to make it a point to be better than him! And like the last straw is when he sets up his little challenges for Batman but it's a total coincidence, it interrupts a case she's been on for months and ruins everything. So her ass goes through the whole trouble of solving a series of riddles and puzzles meant for Batman. She went out of her way to find them all and solve them so she can confront the Riddler finally. Him getting pinged thinking it's Batman gets all excited but when he goes to confront it's Mina. He flips out just "Wtf wtf wtf you cheated! you didn't solve these! Why are you here??" but jokes on him she did it. ANYWAYS IM SORRY ITS SO LONG BUT SHORT STORY INSTEAD OF FIGHTING HIM LIKE SHE INTENDED SHE TAKES ONE LOOK AT HIS FUCKING WET BITCH PATHETIC ASS AND THEY GET IT ON. like tension but not the kind of tension he's used to where he just gets his face smashed in with the Dark Knight instead she uses her mouth on him *wink wonk* it's about the sexual tension babeeyyyyy !!!

OUGH i love these books so much already not only bc i get to share them with you but also just because. the sheer amount of things that are so well done and real-world feeling and just. complex while also not making the thing dense like other books (cough cough. priory of the orange tree) tend to do with so many characters (sometimes even less!) and a large empire and so much politics. so good

Are you even an a chorus of dragons character if you're not simultaneously three other people at the same time? well. there are actually a fair number of characters who are just one person, but there's also so many who are other people too.

Also, I find it hilarious that really it's just this one family tree that's fucked beyond recognition. Because it's a super important and powerful necklace, so they've kept it in the family, and it keeps getting used within the family and so now genealogists will forever hate this one family and this one family in particular. Everyone else is unaffected by the stone of shackles its Just Them.

It is just life! Obviously I understand the convenience of keeping all your characters on the same page, especially if they're all working in close quarters together and see each other a lot, but when that isn't the case? It's so much fun to play with different knowledge and perspective, how it informs your actions. There's a scene in book 5 (this is vague, not spoiling, dw) where one character figures out something another character has been trying to work out for a while, but they're simply not in the same location for a while so character 2 just!! Doesn't know! even though they're trying to find out and a main character already figured it out! and that's both infuriating (in a good way) and SO fun. because that's realistic! just because one character figures something out doesn't mean another finds out in a timely manner.

I also love sharing these books with you this is like the highlight of my day every time you send an ask i explode (good). But you're right, that's something I'm impressed by; yes, the books are unbelievably complicated and in-depth, but it doesn't drag. And it doesn't accomplish that by rushing through everything either. It takes some effort on our parts to engage, but if you put it in? Beautiful story, world, and experience. We know enough to differentiate places, characters, beliefs, etc, but we're not spending an eternity explaining each either. Lyons is showing off and she should be. staring in awe

Anyway, so Streber then proceeds to leave a now fearful Kevin just kind of standing there, wondering what the hell all of that was.

The next day, Streber invites Kevin over to his house, and hesitantly, Kevin accepts it and goes on over to his house. But he then gets a call from a number. He answers hesitantly, and it just happens to be John. Kevin asks him how he got the number, but John is very vague about it and only says that someone gave him it. But he says it isn't important how he got it because he needs to talk to him. Kevin slowly accepts this despite being a little on edge, but John begins to tell him about the curse that Carmen and Richard told him about on the night of the festival. John tells him about the series of murders that have occurred each night on the celebration, and Kevin is kinda just taking it all in.

But then, someone knocks at the door, so Kevin has to hang up temporarily.

Kevin opens the door, and seemingly, it's just Ethan. Ethan comes in and is acting normal—but he then says, "..say, how come Streber was just standing out here? Did you kick him out or something?". Kevin, puzzled, asks what he means. Ethan then says, "..he was just kind of standing there, and then he left. I don't really know. He seemed pretty happy like always though."

Kevin then realizes something.

Streber must have actually been standing out there the entire time as he and John talked to eachother on the phone, and was probably literally listening in the entire time. While this shouldn't creep out Kevin too much, he can't help but be somewhat anxious.

It then cuts to the next day. Streber tries to invite him over again, but Kevin says he can't today, excusing it with "being sick". He isn't actually sick. Streber is just starting to scare him a little.

He heads on over to the clinic, just incase Streber doubts him or something. But then he sees John. John says he wants to talk to Kevin again, so Kevin is like "yeah sure why not bro lmao".

So John talks to him a bit as they stand outside his car. John explains that he has a theory. A GAMMMEEE THEORY—just kidding. But he has a theory because two of Kevin's friends might kinda be involved with some of the deaths during the festival.

For example, he explains that Ethan happened to be last seen with one of the victims, and that Streber also happened to be kind of related to one of the other murder victims as well. Understandably, this freaks Kevin out a little, but he tries not to doubt them the best he can just because of a theory.

Later when Kevin gets home, he is surprised by a short visit from Ethan and Streber. They seem to have brought over some food that'll make him feel better, like soup and tea and all that other shit. They also brought him some meatballs because they're his favorite apparently.

After what seems like a normal conversation, Ethan says he wants to say something to Kevin before they leave.

Then, Ethan speaks in a cold tone, sounding very different. "What did you eat today?"

Ough that’s a hard choice... but off the top of my head I think skyward sword and spirit tracks have some of my favorite tracks :) lake floria and the music when you’re riding your train are two of the best <3333

12. Which Zelda game has the most sentimental value to you?

Tie between ocarina and sksw, since ocarina was my first game and I think of it very fondly, and sksw since it dragged me through a really crummy and stressful time in my life. Love those two.

13. What Zelda game, in your opinion, has the best character design?

Hmmm. Well I’m biased but I do love the skyward sword character designs (not the boss designs though XD). I also like the wind waker designs, they’re simple but have a lot of character! Oh, and there’s some I really dislike, but the ones I do like make up for it, so I’ll put Hyrule Warriors here too XD

15. Favourite location within Hyrule?

Lake Hylia or its equivalent is usually one of my favorite spots! I love watery areas ☺️ Also some very specific places in botw I tend to hang out, there’s a little place near Lanayru bay I love :3

31. Hardest dungeon played?

I’m trying to think... I’ve played too many zelda games haha. The master mode version of the oot water temple was BRUTAL, I remember that (they change the puzzles). I remember having trouble with the desert palace in albw too, but that was mostly because of the boss. Oh also spectacle rock in zelda 1 because OOF Ganon was hard. And honestly most of the tp dungeons were tricky, they’re really well designed.

Puzzles is really good at doing an escapism in a locked room, he can literally escape into his own TV head so could last a good while maybe. barring any “treatments”. But still. Yeah. I don’t think he’ll literally explode as much though. The error message mentions “newly installed hardware or software” as something that could be causing/exacerbating problems. And he was hooked up to the engine room and more dismembered than usual so that might have been part of the problem.

The goop is always filled with and associated with eyes. The emphasis on vision is certainly. A thing. And this thing, whatever it is, does seem to thrive within those who want eyes on them, who crave that validation. Not just Puzzles and Four, but Wren, too.

Wren was not always Like That, like his first appearance was a genuinely a sweet scene and it’s obvious why Meggy looked up to him so much

And, back on topic, Three got corrupted by the IGBP goop in like a few minutes.

This is a thing that happened and I feel like it should be addressed. There didn’t even touch the keyboard. But he is very much a guy who craves that validation. The fact that this happened to him so fast, too. Peach was down there for at least a month or so before she became an eldritch horror.

So either this corruption can like… travel across/somehow utilize the cosmic link between Three and Four, or Three is just THAT insecure.

Also, when under the effects of The Goop, Four and Three’s pupils disappear. Many of Puzzles’ expressions also lack pupils, including his sort of “default” one

The Mr Puzzles lack of ambition thing. It’s weird to think about that because Puzzles as we know him now is so ambitious. But you’re right, it does seem like he just… gave up, as a kid. Something must have reached a tipping point, but in order for the goo stuff to sorta take root it seems like there has to already be that kind of obsession there.

and I do think he genuinely did cut off his face and do other self mutilations besides just letting this stuff become part of him (if that is indeed the case)

in regards to Four… there are some stains on his gloves in that scene that look… distressingly similar to the way they showed blood in Western Spaghetti. And along with that horrible cracking squelching noise when he’s trying to pull himself free… maybe you’re on to something. But I hope not

as for the portal thing. Pulling people into his head is a thing Puzzles is established to be capable of. Usually it’s for his parodies but I can see how this may be an extension of that power. Also there’s this weird glowing thing in the background of the scene before he loses Leggy.

As for why child Puzzles is just trapped in Puzzles’ head while Puzzles considers that part of him dead? Trauma, probably. Also. Puzzles is shown refusing updates with the error message. Could be kid Puzzles is essentially a file in his systems he never bothered to check or couldn’t find. Caroline-GLaDOS style. Would be cool (ough. “The surge of emotion that shot through me when I saved your life taught me an even more valuable lesson: where Caroline lives in my brain” “Caroline deleted” <- robot that is probably bluffing about deleting Caroline. )

and the last thing. Yeah. Puzzles is harmless most of the time, because his power relies on outside factors, such as his ratings. Without something external to draw power from, he’s just some guy. And he knows that enough to not try anything, I guess.

Like. That scene in the Puzzlevision movie, where Mario punches him in the face and he runs away but overexerts himself using his powers trying to get outta there.

that’s enough to leave him limping. He just collapses when he gets “home”

without his 5 stars or some other outside power source, he’s frankly pathetic. I get the sense he is all too aware of that.

But also. I have Questions.

Who wrote this? Who are the software and hardware manufacturers in question? I always sort of assumed Puzzles cobbled his TV man body together himself. But it wouldn’t make sense for an error screen to say he needs to contact the manufacturer if HE is the manufacturer. Also Puzzlevision systems are getting updates that Puzzles is actively refusing. Claiming “I don’t need any”. Who’s making these updates to Mr Puzzles that he doesn’t want?

What is Safe Mode? Why is Puzzles so incredibly opposed to it? Insisting he doesn’t need it and replacing a word in the error message with nuh uh and then the capslock “NO”

He’s so?? I am wondering. To what degree is Puzzles in control? Like yeah, he resists doing any of the things the error message wants him to do, but someone is trying to make him do those things using the systems of his own body. So…

I mean, especially considering. Um… The Puppet Imagery. That just came out of nowhere.

Are the manufacturers of his body the ones that manufactured the demon keyboard as well? Did he fall for the same adware? MORE PARALLELS TO SMG4??? Is this some kind of eldritch Multi-Level Marketing? Someone recruited Puzzles and then Puzzles tried to recruit SMG4 but couldn’t (yet? Might still be trying to do that) and instead recruited Wren and Marty who tried to recruit Meggy and Mario?
