Continuity gets a little murky but I'm shook remembering how complicated Rose Tyler's relationships are outside the Doctor and thinking it's no wonder Jackie and Mickey were so upset about him.

Beyond the obvious, teen Rose running away to live with Jimmy Stone, a full adult, before he's carted away to prison is bonkers. There's no way Jackie wasn't thinking about Jimmy when Nine stepped into the picture. It's a miracle Jackie didn't kill him on the spot.

I want to pick all of them apart and study them (Rose and Mickey particularly) separately, then look at them as a whole. It's fascinating to see how their behavior in "Rose" and onward is disagreeable, but to also dig into them and see where that behavior comes from and why.

✨THEORY TIME - DEUXMOI IS WORKING WITH LUKE AND NICOLA ✨

This is a newly formulated theory so bear with me and it's a long one.

We’ve all been under the assumption that DM is a bitch and actively working against Nicola and Luke this whole time, right?

What if we’ve been wrong?

DM, at this point in my opinion, knows about Nicola and Luke. I don’t think there’s any way they couldn’t have gotten something sent in by someone who managed to recognize them out and about. But we know that they have actively been pushing Jake and Nic and somewhat Luke and Antonia with the same tired ass pictures.

Here’s what I propose: DM has actually been working with Nicola and Luke this whole time.

Now, hear me out! Do you guys remember DM posting those tips about Luke during the WT? The flight attendant story and the chaos dinner housewife one, too? I’ve always thought this was someone on his side attempting to break the idea that Nic and Luke were something more than friends/coworkers. What if they caught wind of that, who was doing it and decided to use it to their advantage?

I’m of the opinion that Antonia was a cover. Have been for a long while and I think this was set up sometime around Brazil with the liking spree he went on. It made it appear like she was someone important in the mix which is what would be needed to make a convincing cover, right? I think  plan was set in place for her to be at the London premiere, go to events and be pictured with Luke and let it die out.

Girl went rogue though and other hands got involved and DM had to run with the pictures even with Luke looking mad as hell and his team had to sign off (possibly signed off BEFORE the hand hold pics were taken) on the pics with the “rumored girlfriend” tagline. This might have complicated shit, made people upset and it backfired horribly but there was no way to get out of it with the People’s article coming out the very next morning.

We see what we see for the next few weeks. Luke looks like a hostage, Antonia is getting some exposure and a whole lot of hate and Nic is seemingly just going about her business.

Sorrento happens. The LA pool pics were a joke and never picked up with he long ass photo shopped thumbs so they agreed to one more pap opportunity. He holds her and gets out. The entire time his friend group is posting him in stories and deleting, acting smug because they know he’s agreed to get papped and they got all high and mighty thinking this meant they were able to do the same. I think that’s where the breakdown happened.

We fast forward to the festival pics with Nicola. She’s papped with Jake, looking touchy and affectionate with this dude (who appeared on DM twice before that around the time Sorrento was going on or just after and those pub pics were taken by a friend imo) and it takes a ton of people out. Tbh I’ve always thought these were staged. They look posed in certain areas and the fact that Nic was rocking her giant claddagh in clear view of the camera was a clue for me.

They DO NOT expect this to spiral out of control and create an entire subfandom and the pap pics that come out after are not within their control. Jake is noticeably stiff and dead in the face and Nic seems upset in these pictures but DM pushes it.

They push the Jake narrative A LOT. But why?

Because Jake is actively helping Nic and Luke.

Why do we only get the same old recycled June 13th pap pics with Luke and Antonia? Because Antonia is not helping and working against Nic and Luke. That’s why DM doesn’t really seem to give much of a shit about her. But they can’t just drop her. She’s still part of a cover. So they use old pics, never really answer questions about her and the tips submitted about her never go anywhere.

Nicola has said twice that DM was not to be trusted. Did she say this to prepare people for Antonia’s presence? Personally I think the festival pics were set up after the fact, after Luke was getting tons of hate and weird fucking people trying to get in to his personal business and calling him terrible things that could greatly impact his name and reputation. So Jake was intentionally added into the idea that DM is a liar (which she is by nature) as well.

People might wonder why on earth though DM would be helping Nic and Luke by pushing these other “relationships” but imagine the dollar signs DM would be seeing if they were to be the first to drop the exclusive on them?

If DM is helping, they’re likely getting huge kickback for having to deal with us fans who believe they’re out to smear Nic and Luke’s names.

Now there are tons of holes in this theory but I literally thought of it this morning and decided to punch it out real quick. Let’s discuss!

Yes he lives in New York and works for UNCLE America.... But he is still a communist ?? Incredible ! Also I really like the fact he isn't given the cliché personality traits often given to Russian characters i e anger issues drinks a lot violent ect (looking at you shitty(imo) modern remake... What did you do to my little guy ;;). In a close contest with Spock for the "gayest man from tvshow" of the 60s..... And in my heart he is winning djdkd for me the gay subtext of muncle hits so much more because it's not a scifi show- it's closer to home, Napoleon and Illya were *like that* in the present day of the 60s, they were both human, and no alien fuckery made them go to the village more than once or play house in the suburbs or get attached ass up to get pegged on a regular basis... KUROO HAZAMA and PINOKO (Black Jack)

sometimes I rewatch some of the oavs from the 90s when I'm sad :) I had a huge phase a couple years back when I read nearly all the manga (should really finish it... Or reread the whole thing frankly), watched *all* the shows (bar young black jack, hated that shit) and idk I just love this venal bitch so much- him and his daughter and his conflicted feelings for his tboy ex that he still loves kfkfkf btw I'm dying for a modern take on this like please please please I'd love to see Kei Kisaragi's story rewritten a bit (trans character in the 70s sure was progressive but oh boy-), because him and black jack's relationship makes me so *weak*.... And maybe see him a bit more than in one story- anyway ! When it comes to his daughter Pinoko, it's very hit or miss- when the writers lean on the cute father adoptive daughter relationship it's great, when they lean more on the whole "she has a crush on him" (very much like a child in most case, and he *never* reciprocate thank god) and bring up the fact she is technically 18 a lot (she was an evil tumor trapped in her sister before he created a body for her- black jack shit dw), and she gets jealous of other women.... Well it's terrible and I'm uncomfy :(

EVA KANT (Diabolik)

Look.... You just can't show me danger diabolik 1968 and not expect me to become insane djdkdkdk she is so cool ;; !!! Her and her devious eel of a man (here as a panther, because even tho I haven't read the comic yet, I'm taking an educated guess that all the panther imagery is here to represent him, the lethal twunk always in the all black gimp suit... Apathy girlyyyyy she just like me for real for real nfkfk what absolutely charmed me about her is yes her design, but more importantly her chamber's design (if you've never played the void, a sister's chamber is a space that represent her. You get a sense of who she is by exploring her chamber before finding her and talking to her soul it's great). The lonely island out at sea, her laying down on a suspended steel boat in a grotto, looking passively at the moon by a crack on the ceiling.... And the moon is looking back. Incredible ! I love this game so much

KIM KITSURAGI (Disco Elysium)

Do I really have to explain this one ? When I played the game with quiji I remember I kept saying "when Kim talks, we *listen*" djkdk we did get a good grade in Kim Kitsuragi and got him to dance in the church <3 this fucking centrist cop wormed it's way into my heart and many others because of course he did. The only Kim K in my eyes. Also funny anecdote : before I played Disco Elysium, I had one concept art masterclass where a kinda famous concept artist came to give advice, make us really stressed then give us a shitty grade.... And when I tell you this man looked so much like Kim ??? Same haircut, glasses, face with a scar *exactly* where Kim's portrait has a stark shadow on his cheek and he was dressed in an orange top- truly uncanny. Anyway, Kim is so fucking cool how does he do it

El has been trying to convince herself that their relationship is better than it is, because once she admits to herself that it’s not working, what does she do?

Her day-to-day life isn’t that great. Sure, she has her new family in the Byers, but her dad recently passed away and she’s being bullied at school. She has no friends outside of Will, and while I’m sure their relationship is great (wasn’t explored that much tbh), he can’t keep her from feeling isolated, and his own trauma with bullying keeps him from standing up for her.

One good, unchanging thing she has is her relationship with Mike. He’s the one who took her in and housed her, he taught her what it meant to be a friend, and… I’m having a bit of trouble here lol. I was going to say:

Never used her for her powers (not true lol)

When she was burnt out, he never expected more from her (not true LOL)

Never treated her differently for her powers (for this one, he found her awesome in an awestruck way rather than a Brenner “I’m gonna exploit this” way, but when he thought she lied about Will/hurt Lucas he was on her ass lmao)

My girl has those ‘first love’ blinders on. I keep having to ask myself what she sees in him besides ‘first person to accept me + we kissed’ like besides the latter, Dustin was right there. A lot of the parts of Mike I enjoy don’t reveal themselves around El outside S1 (barely S2). He’s shown as caring and protective, but he’s like that for all of his friends?? Especially when they’re in danger so idk what’s different. I’d have to peruse the milkvan tag to get a hint, but I’ll probably get a better idea watching Sleeping Beauty.

I’m a firm believer that Mike kept it ambiguous because he didn’t want to admit what the real problem was to Will.

Because you can’t love El in the way she wants, do you think you’re incapable of it? Do you feel wrong? Do you not want Will to know?

Mike could’ve asked to be a team after the "guess it's gonna be up to us again," and Will could’ve taken the painting offscreen (the focus shot of Will grabbing the painting gets me so bad like WHY), but instead they wanted them to blush and giggle over each other AGAIN before they got to the van.

I’ve seen a lot of ppl write about Anaxagoras cosmic eye and chest, whether that be sfw or nsfw. It’s been quite a topic and for good reason. But after this update, I’ve given it some thought, and tbh, I feel it would take him a lot longer for him to feel comfortable letting someone touch his left eye than it would his chest. Hear me out. (Spoilers for 3.2)

1. The loss of his eye is tied to his sisters death. Its trauma is a lot more intimate/personal. It’s like having two scars, one having a more tragic story than the other. That one you tend to keep more hidden no?

Yes the loss of his eye is less connected to her death itself, but it’s the catalyst for why he does what he does. He sacrificed his eye in order to see her again. It was all for her. Now I don’t think he’s inherently ashamed of what he did, tbh I think he isn’t at all. He got what he wanted, he learned valuable information from it, and he has to be careful how much he exposes or else he can’t continue. Which brings me to my next point.

2. His eye is always covered, I don’t think just for cosmetic purposes. I think it’s a balance between hiding the act of blasphemy he committed that would surely get him kicked out of the grove, and also bc it is a very private thing he had done. It’s also on his face, a more vulnerable area. I mean, it used to be his eye.

Hyacine confirms herself that he never takes off his eyepatch, even when he’s alone. A small part of my wonders if it’s also for protection reasons, the eyepatch has more practical uses too. But for this sake of this post, I think it’s genuinely bc he doesn’t want to be caught. But also, bc it’s very intimate.

3. His chest I believe was done during the attack on the grove. I don’t think it was there before imo, but I could be wrong. We don’t really have any art pre attack that shows his body. And I don’t think the devs cared about changing his entire model for the echos we see when we first get to the grove.

The reason I think that void formed was bc of all the alchemic events that he had done during the attack. He sealed the black tide in the grove so no one else would be harmed. He created echos for us to find when we arrived (though he somewhat explained the exchange in his echos for this one). While looking at the research with Hyacine, he performed a ritual to try and merge the core flame with his body—though ultimately failing, every single thing he did required an exchange. He says it multiple times, alchemy follows the law of equivalent exchange.

Omg your blog is such a relief. Every day I feel more and more like I want to distance myself from about 80% of the Solavellan community bc I am telling you it is ROUGH being into the egg and wanting to talk about him but being surrounded by people who think that everyone and their mother is out to get them. I also see them running around in posts that are clearly marked as "Critical" And half the time when I CAN talk to them about Solas it's like they aren't even talking about the same character I am? They want him to be some helpless little abuse victim who isn't responsible for anything he does??? Why are we redeeming him if he did nothing wrong? What would be the point? We love him because he's fucked up and a manipulative bastard but also complex???? Did we play the same game girlies???

BOTH were victims of abuse who did terrible, no good, awful things. BOTH were also extremely powerful, omnipotent, and power-hungry individuals. mythal's hunger for power showcased differently than solas' and was amplified (IMO) by elgar'nan whispering in her ear. solas had felassan to keep him in check.

i am of the UPMOST certainty that had solas not taken down the evanuris the way he did and went to sleep after creating the veil, he would have become another tyrant ruling over the elven people. yeah full stop i will never forgive them for making her one personality type. sorry, i just won't. my lavellan egg-mancer was a strong-willed and angry proud dalish woman who told solas off every chance she could! i am genuinely so happy people who wanted the dynamic we got in VG got that, because that is how their lavellan is/was, but what about the lavs who punched him? who told him to stop being an asshole about elves, and just farmed approval for the romance by asking questions? i chose to hunt his ass down BECAUSE I WANTED TO HUNT HIS ASS DOWN! my lavellan would not be so understanding or forgiving, she just wouldn't, so it feels like my girl's personality was ripped away from her fr. now, i DO NOT agree with some of the takes on how she was presented because those criticisms are in fact riddled with misogyny and most are just downright vile. but i do agree with the criticisms that not all lavellans would have been so kind to that bald man.

so anon, TRUST me when i say i feel you so bad. i was in lots of solavellan spaces before i started shipping dreadrook, and even then i was looked at SO funny for my takes on the romance and called plenty of terrible things simply because i didn't hold solas up on this pedestal and make my lav worship the ground he walked on. even as a dreadrooker, the same exact takes that i couldn't get behind in solav spaces are very prevalent in dreadrook spaces. solasmancers have a tendency to simply agree with solas on everything and refuse to acknowledge how bad of a person he really can be.

i am a proud solasmancer AND a proud solas hater. #1 solas hater, in fact. i rarely have positive things to say about his actions and behaviors outside of a joke setting, and even in a joke setting the things people will say to defend him RUB ME SO BADLY THE WRONG WAY. also heavy on the perusing the "critical" tags and getting offended when my takes are, in fact, critical LMFAO. anon i am literally a beggar sitting on the side of the street waving a metal cup at you asking for coins of your affection rn. i have maybe one other friend who feels like this and have hardly anyone to rant about these things with. holding my hands out towards you and begging you to dm me fr.
